We're freshly back from both of our trips and we have so much to discuss.

We have so much to discuss that there's no like, little like, catch up, like, no, no, no. We've got Brooke fresh from Japan, me fresh from Coachella, and there's just things that need to be discussed. I. I am so excited to hear about your trip. I have friends saying, like, is there going to be a gals in the Go Japan episode? Yes. Yes.

Oh my gosh. I am honestly, in a weird way, I'm really glad that I went first because I like have like my notes and my warnings to give you. Like, I've already started to relay like, sister. Yes. I'm like, watch out.

No, no, I mean, you already gave me a couple notes that I'm like noted because we were gonna do that or, you know, whatever it may be.

[Danielle]

Yeah. Little learnings. Yeah. Because I know you And I know, like, what you're gonna like and what you're not gonna like. No.

Brooke would, like, send me a photo of their breakfast and I'd be like, ooh, okay. Good to know. Breakfast is different there. Yeah.

Little. Some slight changes, but I had a fantastic time overall. How would you describe your coachell or a series?

That's the first thing that came to mind. Wow. Okay.

It just came to me, you know, it was kind of a mixture of the Barbie mix with, like, the Justin Bieber of it all, which I cannot wait to talk about.

Oh, of course. The Bieber Fever.

Fever. Were you a Bieber girl growing up?

[Danielle]

I saw the movie, like, once. Like, I wasn't really. He was never my background.

[Brooke]

Like, who did you like?

[Danielle]

Like, no one. Like, no, I. I didn't really, like, have like, posters on my. Well, I wasn't allowed to have posters on my wall.

Okay. Of course.

[Danielle]

They ran a tight ship.

Yep.

They were like, must be framed. And I was like, there's no framed photos of these. Yeah.

Oh, it had to be framed, Daniel.

Yeah, they were. Yeah. I can't just stick shit on the wall.

I had a bulletin board, but that was my goals and my dreams. Of course.

And it brought you here, so. Hey, hey, wait. So that is so. So you didn't have like a teenage.

[Danielle]

I'm sure anything. My like, teen crush, really. I wasn't really like a Twilight girl. I mean, I did like Hunger Games, like, in my later, like, you know, 13 year old. So I feel like Zac Efron.

[Brooke]

Like, I had a cardboard cutout.

[Danielle]

Yeah, of course. I was. I was a Nick kid. So I'm trying to think, like, who was like, Elodie. Yeah. Nickelodeon. Honestly, like, Drake Bell. I feel like for a little bit because I watched Drake and Josh growing up and I was like, Drake is so cute, you know, But I wasn't like a stand, like, put his picture on the wall. I was like, oh, my God. Like, you know, he was like the teen guy of.

[Brooke]

Yeah, no, that's.

[Danielle]

And then I'm trying to think the

[Brooke]

other networks, Disney Channel.

[Danielle]

I didn't have like, one that I like was like, yeah, my God. I feel like I felt that way about, like, guys at school, though. Like, I want to put a picture of you on my wallet.

[Brooke]

Yeah. You're like, I have high school crushes. But not like, you didn't have, like, the tiger Beat magazine. Like, no poster.

[Danielle]

No, I wasn't. I mean, we did that at, like, birthday parties. Bring it home. My mom would be like, no, no, no.

[Brooke]

This is actually something I didn't know about you.

[Danielle]

Yeah. You were allowed to do whatever you wanted on your walls.

[Brooke]

Oh, yeah. I painted my walls so many times, though. Like, we had to cut, because then you'd take the poster down and it's all ripped up. But more so. I didn't know. I didn't. I never thought about. Like, you didn't have, like, a. A celebrity crush growing up?

[Danielle]

Yeah, I guess I never really thought about that either. Cause I never had a screen name named after. I was like. It was always about me. Brookie Cookie. 04. I was like, it's. I'm. Hey, I'm the star. Like, everybody should have my picture on their wall.

[Brooke]

Like, no, that. That's pretty crazy.

[Danielle]

It's very.

[Brooke]

A username I still use to this day for a lot of things is Zanielle. And people are always like, why Zanielle? It's literally my couple's name was Zac Efron.

[Danielle]

Oh, because you were Zac Efron, too. I just thought you were Justin Bieber. Oh, yeah.

[Brooke]

I'm trying to think what came first, chicken or the egg? Yeah, you had a whole Zach or Justin. Well, first it was Jesse McCartney, and then. And then I want to say it was Zac Efron, because that would make sense with High School Musical. And then it was Justin Bieber.

[Danielle]

I. I definitely. Zac Efron. High School Musical.

[Brooke]

Yeah.

[Danielle]

Honestly, like, I wasn't a Jonas Brothers girl, but, like, Camp Rock era. I feel like I was, like, a Jonas Brothers girly, like, in that era, but I never had, like, one that I was like, if I don't marry this guy, I'm gonna lose my mind. Like.

[Brooke]

Yeah.

[Danielle]

You know, like, I feel like some girls, like, literally put their.

[Brooke]

Yeah. I loved Nick when he had diabetes. It was the whole. That, of course, everyone was affected.

[Danielle]

Wasn't there, like, a song?

[Brooke]

He did a song in, like, black and white.

[Danielle]

I forget. Oh, he's gonna die.

[Brooke]

I know.

[Danielle]

Yeah. All right. No, he's still living.

[Brooke]

Yeah. No one told us what diabetes was.

No, we didn't know.

Yeah, it was like, he is diabetes. Yeah.

Wow. Okay, so first of all, if you're not watching on video, Brooke is wearing some new glasses.

[Danielle]

I am. I.

[Brooke]

Can we talk about your new glasses?

[Danielle]

Where do I begin with the glasses? Obsession. You know, I noticed in Japan, honestly, I was looking at outfit inspo, like, on pinterest and stuff. And I noticed a big theme was that a lot of people were wearing glasses.

[Brooke]

Okay.

[Danielle]

And I don't know if these people wear glasses regularly, but I noticed that they were, like, thick frames or really interesting glasses. And I was like, I guess I'm doing glasses. Like, we're going glasses.

[Brooke]

Before you got there.

[Danielle]

Before I got there. So I had prepared. I wore glasses on a previous episode of the podcast. People were actually being really nice. They were like, they look good. So then you gassed me up too hard. And then I was like, oh, glasses are me. I am glasses. Like, yes.

[Brooke]

No, it is fun accessory.

[Danielle]

No, it's just. I just have 2020 vision. Like, I just do not need them. I don't need readers. I don't need any, like, blue light, though. Yeah. I get blue light. Blockers have them anyway. So then I just became obsessed with wearing this one. That one damn pair. That one pair of kits.

[Brooke]

Yeah, they're great. They have great glasses. I love them.

[Danielle]

I just think that they. They look great. They go with everything. There were a few times on the trip that Ben was like, maybe, hey, let's get the shot without the glass. Because, you know, and I was like, oh. And then I started realizing I was like, in 20 years, maybe in 10, maybe in 5, I'm gonna look back and be like, why did I wear those damn glasses in every photo on my Japan trip? I don't wear glasses. No.

[Brooke]

It's really funny once you start to think about, like, wow, every photo you.

[Danielle]

Yeah, every photo. And they kind of look like Ben's glasses. So I look like I'm copying him. And, you know, I hate that. So, like, not magic. I'm like. I'm like, we're a couple and we wear the same glasses. Yeah. Also, my voice is quite hoarse. I'm not sick. I just have lost it from screaming and just, you know, just general. Well, it's like it was already, like, going. And then I, you know, was like, oh, maybe don't talk today. I motor mouthed that day. Like, I was just, like, talking that day. So, you know, here we go.

[Brooke]

That means you're having fun, though. No, Brooke has been on vocal rest, you guys. She's drinking medicine bottle.

[Danielle]

Like, this is, like, throat coat.

[Brooke]

It's giving theater. For sure.

[Danielle]

It is giving theater. I saw that someone. I think it was treasure. Pay to, like, use, like, a throat spray. I need to try that. Like, performers, something. Oh, entertainers throat spray.

[Brooke]

Yeah, we'll Be backstage prep. So anyways, going back to the glasses, I'm just all over the place. And then I decided I'm just going full send glasses. And then I just started picking up a bunch of pairs. Vintage. These are not vintage. I can get into the story, but I now I'm just a glasses girl. These are a little eclectic. These are, like, my funky pair. My first time wearing them. You could. Everyone knows it's my first time wearing them.

[Brooke]

Is it obvious?

[Danielle]

It's obvious.

[Brooke]

I really. What is on the side? I forget.

[Danielle]

You showed Gems.

[Brooke]

Gems. Uncut gems.

[Danielle]

Uncut gems. I'm turning to the side to show because I was like, I don't want to do a crazy earring, because I feel like they are the moment.

[Brooke]

They are your earring, in a way. They are Gentle Monster.

[Danielle]

They're from Gentle Monster.

[Brooke]

Yeah, they're so I see it on the side. That's very cool.

So everyone knows this is my first time wearing my gentle monster glasses. Yeah.

Oh. So Japan begin. Like, tell.

[Danielle]

Like, where do I begin?

[Brooke]

Tell us, like, you know, the three cities you went, you know, all, like, the layout.

[Danielle]

And so I. Technically, it was four, because it was Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, and Osaka. Okay, now, the way that I would define the trip as a whole, like, if I had to. If I had to put two words on my trip. Yeah, I would say shrines, and I would say lines. Damn, we visited so many fucking shrines. I, I. They have a shrine for everything. They've. I mean, maybe that's how it. Like, when you. If you do the tour of America, you go to the monuments and you see everything. Maybe it is that way. But I just was like, oh, another shrine. Another shrine. Like, oh, we. We're seeing four shrines today.

[Brooke]

So, like, when you were planning the trip, did you.

[Danielle]

Did.

[Brooke]

Did the list say, like, shrine, or was it, like, all these different names?

[Danielle]

Oh, totally said it. No, it. It entirely said it. It said shrine. It's a temple. But I told, like, my travel agent, who was amazing, by the way, I want to do it as if, like, this is my big one. Like, you know, I want to do the country, right? Like, because, I mean, I think I'll be back after this. But, like, I was like, just, if it's something I should do, have me do it just in case.

[Brooke]

Pop it on.

[Danielle]

Pop it on. But it starts to get to the point that they all look very similar, and they're all very. I mean, they're, like, historical, and there's. There's so there's shrines and then there's temples. Like, I guess there's the difference of the, like, historical. And like, I did learn, but, like, Ben knew everything already. Like, they would say something and he'd be like, oh, yeah, built in 19, blah, blah. I was like, how do you know that? How do you know that? And he was like, you didn't pay attention in history. I was like, no, honestly, AP World. I did really bad.

[Brooke]

Like, yeah, I did really bad, honestly. And it's been years.

[Danielle]

Yeah. Yeah. It's been a minute.

[Brooke]

That's amazing.

[Danielle]

Yeah.

[Brooke]

My Ben's becoming a doctor.

[Danielle]

Yeah. No, and he explained he has, like, a history thing. Does Ryan have a history thing?

[Brooke]

Yeah. Like, US History, I would say.

[Danielle]

Got it.

[Brooke]

Like America. Yeah.

[Danielle]

Like government and all that. I mean, I get it. After the trip, I was like, I need to study up on my. Like, because, like, I remember learning some of. Yeah, but it's just like every story, it's like. And then we came in and we told them, if you're not going to trade with us, we're going to, like, destroy you. So then they started trading with us. Like, there's so many stories, I feel like, like this about other countries in America. And it's like when they said that, I was like, wow. And you got. They don't hate us. Like, I was surprised. Yeah, you guys came and.

[Brooke]

Anyways, I can't believe how many shrines you saw.

[Danielle]

So lots of shrines.

[Brooke]

Were they beautiful?

[Danielle]

Yes. They just started to all, like, blend into one, you know, like, it starts to get, like, I to distinct. I can go through my photos and, like, be like, oh, my gosh. These were like, you know, different beautif shrines. And we had, like, great tour guides that took us around to them. But, you know, the history is just that type of history. Like, I appreciated some. We went to, like, the great Buddha temple in Nara, which was the deer. The deer were.

[Brooke]

Yes, the deer. You encountered Brook petting animal or did you pet him or you just fed?

[Danielle]

I fed. They don't really take to pets. Okay. So basically, instead of like, squirrels or something, like, they have wild, like, deer. But the deer have, like, learned similar to, like, how pigeons know, like, when they're getting fed, like, they can get, like, close to you and stuff. They've adapted. They know that, like, human, like, you buy these crackers, and they know that the humans. So if you feed one, then a swarm of them, like, comes around.

[Brooke]

Those are big boys.

[Danielle]

Big boys.

[Brooke]

Not little squirrels running at your feet. Like, they're at your, like, hips Probably.

[Danielle]

Totally. But they're very cute. They are very friendly. I would feed, like, the one off ones. Like, we wouldn't feed, like, if they were in a pack. We, like, avoid the pack. But I had a problem where I kept. Like, I learned that some of them at 1point. 1. My tour guide was like. And, you know, it was burned down and rebuilt in, like, 1952. I was like, rebuilt? I was like, this isn't even the fucking original. Are you serious? And it probably.

Like, how many times did that happen?

[Danielle]

Like, a lot.

Because they're literally made of, like, sticks and paper. Like, they're, like, built from, like, you know, materials that they used to pray to the gods of thunder and wind so that it would storm so that

No, literally, I was like, so one was. So then I got to a point on that. I was like, so when was this construct? You know? And then they'd be like, well, the original was built in, you know, 12th century, blah, blah, blah. But then they had to rebuild it after. But it was, like, always after something. So. I understand. Of course I understand.

[Brooke]

That's so you. To be like, I'll see right through that.

[Danielle]

It's the remake.

It's the remake. I see. I didn't get the real one. No. But at what point were you like, okay, I'm done with the shines. Like, oh, which city? Like, how many cities in. I mean, it was the first one.

No, I mean, like, there were. I feel like by the last day of every city, I was like. And that's where. Strap on, Tokyo. Like, thank you. Because basically the schedule was, like, we did a mix of, like, historical and, like, cultural things the first few days in the city, and then the last day was like, the, like, free day, shopping day.

[Brooke]

I earned my. My trip. But there were, like, fun parts of every, like, tour day. Yeah. Like, then we're going, like, a fun lunch or, like, a cool experience. Or something like that.

Oh, and the driver. It was me.

For best friends. Yeah. No, it was really. I mean, I cannot. Like, that was, like, the best way that I could have done it, because if I want. If we wanted to move through something quicker or slower, like. Yeah, it was kind of like on our time when I had my real. Like, I'm done. Was day 13. That was. Yeah, that was in Osaka when I really was. You know, we were gone for so long, and I really have never had this feeling ever. But I. We were on the tour, and I just had a moment where I literally was like, no, I'm not walking any further. I'm not going in. I don't want to go in. I found out that it was a rebuilt castle, so it was a remake. It looked like it was a tall climb up, and I was just like, no, you know what? No, I just didn't want to go.

[Brooke]

And it was just you, Ben, and the tour guide. Yeah.

[Danielle]

And then they looked at each other. They were like, okay. And I was like, but you guys should go. And then they're like, no, no, we'll wait. I was like, no, literally go. I just don't want to go. I don't know. I just remembered that I have free will, and I was like, I just don't want to go. Like, I don't know. I. I've seen. It's beautiful.

[Brooke]

Yep.

[Danielle]

I'll be. I have to go to the bathroom. I'll be here.

Like, you know, I'm good to go.

[Danielle]

Yeah, I'm good to go. And then I had a moment. Like, then we went back to the hotel room, and I, I, I just randomly started crying, and I was just. I just miss home. I don't know what happened. It came over me. It was the end of the trip. Like, I am, like, it makes. Traveling is so amazing because you, like, learn the difference of cultures, but then it makes you appreciate your own culture.

[Brooke]

Yeah, absolutely. The way to put it, 100%. I mean, when you told me you were doing two weeks, just knowing you, I was like, wow.

[Danielle]

Yeah. But they say you have to, like,

[Brooke]

you have to, like.

[Danielle]

I feel like I could have done, like, 10 or 11 days because that was kind of like. It was like those few extra at the end that I was like, ugh. Like, it's a little. And so much happened while I was away. Can we talk about that? Literally, day two of the Trip. We got, like, such big, like, personal news.

[Brooke]

I was like, are you kidding me?

[Danielle]

No, I'm. I'm literally. I was like, wouldn't be nice to make a phone call. But, like, I wasn't paying for the data. Like, I don't know.

[Brooke]

Oh, yeah, you didn't do data. You had a little WI fi box.

[Danielle]

Yeah, I had a little wifi box.

[Brooke]

Are you glad you did that or do you wish you, like, bought service?

The last few days of the trip, I ended up buying service because there was, like, one place where the WI FI box didn't have service. And I just, like, was like, yeah, that was my breaking point. The service in Japan, like, they say that they're going to drop something off at your hotel and they actually do it. I feel like that's the difference between here and there.

Like, Ben ordered glasses. Speaking of glasses, he ordered a pair of glasses and they were like, okay, it's going to arrive in five days. Like, what hotel will you be at in five days? And they shipped it to the hotel and it actually arrived.

Yeah, that was scary. I'd be like, yes, to be there.

[Danielle]

And I feel like they. They stick to their word. Like, I feel like here, like, sometimes you're like, I'm not sure if I'll get it. The WI FI box was like. They were like, it will be there when you check in. And I was like, okay, let's see if it's actually.

[Brooke]

No way.

[Danielle]

It was. It was pretty cool package for you. I was like, this is. I feel like they're very, like, service. Yeah. And I just went into, like, all the negatives, but Japan was. I mean, it's beautiful. It's amazing. It is everything that I thought it would be.

How was the matcha?

[Danielle]

Matcha was amazing. We did a tea ceremony where we dressed in kimonos, which was very. I knew, once again, knew I was doing all this. It was on the itinerary, like, fully knew I was doing it. But when I put it into context of the day, I didn't. I guess I didn't really realize that, like, I'd be walking around in the kimono legit all day, like, from 10 to, like, five, you know. So I hit my breaking point with that, too. God, the tour guys probably were like, fuck you. Like this girl.

[Brooke]

Well, no, I wouldn't have thought, because Katie And I were looking into doing something like that, and we didn't end up deciding to do it. But they don't make it sound like. And then you're in it for the rest of your day. They just made it sound like, you know.

[Danielle]

Experience.

[Brooke]

Yeah, the experience. And then you take it off after an hour.

[Danielle]

Yes, like that. That's kind of what I thought. I guess I didn't really think about it too deeply or I was like, whatever. I mean, it was beautiful. And I got, like, such cool photos. And it was actually really, really cool because, like, they. You pick out all. Yeah. Can I talk about. Please.

It's springtime, Brooke, and I'm trying to run errands, and I'm trying to look cute while I'm running my errands.

I'm trying to run.

So I was having a lot of like, body dysmorphia when I'm there. Because I'm. I'm American, I'm tall. Everybody's very short. They're very little. You know, when I'm trying on clothes, I'm like the biggest size. Like, I. It is. It. People told me that it was that way, and it really is that way. Like, yeah, when you hold up like an article of clothing to yourself, you're like, is this made for a child? Yeah. Like, no. I felt like a big fat American walking through the streets. When we were trying on our kimonos, they. You had to pick out like various pieces of it. The number one is like, I guess like the main, like, you know, big. I don't. I don't know the exact words and I don't want to botch it, but like. Yeah, but there were so many, like, pieces. I was wearing six layers. They put a whole towel in my back. I'm not even kidding. No, I was layered up. Loaded in there. Yes, layered up. But it was time to pick them out. And we were being guided around the store and she's like, oh, you're like, you know, she was like, okay. So then she guides me into like one section of the store. Cause I guess I couldn't fit into the regular section.

Oh my gosh.

So the other section of the store, there's two racks. There's T tall and W wide. And thankfully she pointed me. She said, we're gonna go over here. Thankfully, she brought me in the direction of tall because if she brought me to the wide rack, I just.

I think I would have lost my mind. I was like, that's something. Like, I don't even need to see it. Like, you know, that should be the

You just didn't feel like you're like. I was like, oh. Like, you know, she's like the local clown. Like, you know, like if I like asked stupid question or like did something, you know, out of line. Because it's a very orderly society in the sense that like they do things that just make sense. They don't push and shove when they get on the train. I love that the trains run on time. They are, from what I saw, seemingly very like quiet and respectful and they keep to themselves, which it's like an introverted society mostly. Like you don't really talk to strangers.

[Brooke]

Necessarily. You go get lunch and it's like you sit at like a solo seat most of the time.

[Brooke]

[Danielle]

Yeah, it's very interesting. Like in those ways, I guess it's different. So when the big fat Americans come through, like we do, we stand out.

[Brooke]

We stand out. Yeah.

You know, you saw us coming. Is it true that there's like really no trash cans?

[Danielle]

No trash cans in some of the. In Osaka maybe I saw one, but in Tokyo not. I did not see any. And the thing is they have a lot of single use plastics. They're really big into vending machines. Huge intervention machines.

[Brooke]

Oh yeah, I saw a lot of those.

[Danielle]

Yeah, you can get like, you know, fun drinks from them.

[Brooke]

Seems to be a spot a lot of people take photos. Like a good photo spot.

[Danielle]

It is, it is. And I would like go get a water bottle or something and. Yeah, like just. No, nothing. Another thing. They don't give you napkins the way we do napkins. Like, you know, I put the napkin, I mean I love a napkin. Put one on my lap. I put, you know, have one for my hands. They give you like a wet nap. And I'm not sure, like then I'm unclear. Do I use it before I eat or after I eat? Right.

[Brooke]

Is it to clean?

[Danielle]

Yeah, but it's typically, I think for before. But I noticed that pretty much everybody brings their own towel. What? They bring their own like little like handkerchief towel thing and then like that's they use as a napkin and then they put it right back in their bag. Yeah, no, you have to carry, like, a lot of shit on you.

[Brooke]

Like, I'm a messy eater, though, so I have to put, like, a saucy napkin back in my bag, you know, Or.

[Danielle]

Yeah.

[Brooke]

Or you have a section for it.

[Danielle]

No. And I would, like, go home now. I normally keep my trash in my purse anyways, so that wasn't too much of a change for me. Like, that's a habit that I have where I'll, like, you know, have scrap paper and just shove it in my bag. But, like, some people, you know, don't do that. But I would go home to the hotel at the end of the day and be like, so much. Yeah. But it's still so clean. I don't know how they've no trash cans, but it's so clean. It's mind blowing. Like, it just goes to show, once again, like, the respect that they have for, like, their public spaces. And like, I'm just like, America could never, like, in those ways.

[Brooke]

What was your favorite hotel you stayed at?

[Danielle]

Oh, I really liked the Tokyo one we stayed at, which was a really nice, like, start to the trip. It was the Okura Tokyo. And it was. It was lovely. I mean, it was gorgeous. We had, like, you know, like, a nice view. It was kind of like over by, like, the American embassy. So we had, like, a nice view of that. I don't know if that. America. Yeah. A little taste of home.

[Brooke]

A little taste of home. Did you ever have American food while you were there?

[Danielle]

Yeah. Yeah.

[Brooke]

Like cuisine, should I say?

[Danielle]

Of course we did switch it up. I don't really eat, like, too much fish. We did a lot of ramen, but it just gets to be a lot. If you're going bring. Even if you don't have stuff, stomach problems or anything, just bring fiber, bring benefit. Bring something to keep it.

Because you eat just like, a lot of, like, carbs, I feel like.

Yeah. Is there, like, fruit around? Like, do people drink smoothies there? Like, did you see anything?

That was so fun. No, the convenience stores are as good as they say. The food. I loved the food. I really did.

Amazing ramen. It just. It just got to be to a point where I was like, oh, noodles again, like, you know.

So we mixed it up a little bit. They have really fantastic. And I actually am like, I love beef. Like, I tried the. What was the name of the Steak. The. Not the Wagyu. The. Why can't I think of it right now? Because it's from. Hold on. I have to find you the Kobe Kobe beef. That's what it was. Kobe. Kobe. Because that's like a city that we didn't go to, but it was. They bring in the beef from it. Yeah. That was like a expensive meal. That was Teppanyaki. Very different than our Teppanyaki.

[Brooke]

Not like Japanese steakhouse, Onion volcano.

[Danielle]

No, I was showing the guy like. I was like, do you want to see what it's like in America? I showed him like the like explosion as he's like gently turning the steak. He was like, wow, that's different.

[Brooke]

No, it makes you realize, like, we're so weird in America.

[Danielle]

We're so weird.

[Brooke]

We just. Everything's bigger in America. We just take things to the next level.

[Danielle]

It really is. No, we, we. We have like a show and like a song and a dance of everything and.

[Brooke]

Absolutely.

[Danielle]

Yeah. And like, you know, I like some, some parts of it.

One thing you told me I thought was insane was that none of like the coffee matcha shops opened until like 10:00am yeah. That's crazy, huh?

A Convenience stores were 24 hours. So I was like going to those at like 4:00am I was like, I guess I was jet lagged. Like it wasn't a problem because I was just going to bed early.

[Brooke]

Yeah.

[Danielle]

But I would be like up at 4am I'd be like, I guess I'll go to the 711 across the street. And it's safe. It's really safe to like walk around by yourself. I never felt unsafe.

[Brooke]

Coffee.

[Danielle]

I mean, they have coffee there. But like, I just was like, I'm up.

[Brooke]

Like, yeah, I'm up.

[Danielle]

I'm up. Like that's the only place open if you want anything. Like you. They have, you know, snacks and things. I mean, I wasn't like getting like usually a sandwich that early. I would wait for the breakfast. The hotel breakfasts are awesome. I'm trying to think what else. Vintage shopping was amazing. You're gonna love it.

a store and be like, okay, give me the specs. And then I'd be like, I have to review this with my partner.

My partner. Business partner. My. No, boys are really into watches.

Even the other day we were your apartment, all the guys were like holding your watch.

Yeah. They're like. And then I wasn't sure, like, can I see your watch? And I like, showed them my wrist.

Like, can I see? Take it off? Oh, oh, sure. Of course. It's like, yeah, I was like, sure, everybody can try on this watch. No, it's, it's so lovely because they keep everything in really pristine condition. I think it's illegal to sell counterfeit goods. But yeah, yes, the lines, they are at least in Tokyo because I think it's the busy season. I don't know if it's always like this. You guys can tell me. Me, they're insane. I waited in an hour long line to eventually then get like, served matcha. Like, and then I had to like, wait for the matcha to be made, which is an additional five minutes. Like, yeah, no, it was testing me. It was testing me. But then again, you can go down the road and wait a 30 minute line for the one that you didn't want. So, like, I was like, I'm just, There's different lines at this point. Like, yeah, so many lines and no one's complaining. That's the thing. Everybody just waits in line.

I'm, you know, I'm doing like loop de loops. I'm pacing. I'm like jumping up and down, like, moving. Yeah. I'm like, let's go. Like, come on, move faster.

So I guess that makes sense too. They do not want to overwhelm the back. Like in America. They're like overwhelmed. The kitchen for them. They're like, no, like you're on our time, you know.

Wait, and then tell them about the ramen. Once you got into the ramen, you did tell me this, that how long like you had to be quick. Oh, it was ramen.

Oh, the like the time limits and stuff. Eating. There was no. There was one place that we were on, it was in Harajuku, which is in Tokyo. And it's a really busy like shopping street. There's a lot of like cafes and things off of it. There's no cars. It's like a super touristy street. And we got like street food. We were getting a lot street food, like a lot of mochi and things like that.

That's fun.

And it was like these cheese filled dough things. That's the best way I can describe it. Yeah. Went in, paid for it, you know, go outside. I take a picture with it, I start to eat it and then they come outside and they were like, like, excuse me. And then they like tapped on the outside of the store and it said max time here. 40 seconds.

You are only allowed to stand there and eat it for 40 seconds. Otherwise you had to keep it moving. But you're also. They don't really eat on the go. There's no eating like, you know, you

have to eat it quickly there.

Yeah, they do. They. You do not. Yeah. So I guess that's eating quick. I hate that. I'm like, I don't want to be rushed when I meeting.

Because it's like on crack. Like, at one point I was getting so overwhelmed because you just look in every direction. Like, it was like a. You know, there was like directions everywhere. We were in the middle. So many people beyond the eye can see all in suits. And it just like, the amount of people walking with purpose, like, actually overwhelmed me. I was like, where?

And you live in New York.

I can't. No, no, no. It's. No, I'm telling you, you've been to New York. You're like, that's a crazy city. Try Tokyo. Try.

Wow. And everyone's just like, are people on their phones when they're walking?

Yeah.

It's very. Like, people are on their phone. Yeah, yeah. But they're moving with purpose.

No, I mean, I'm sure. Yeah. You're going to so many different cities and hotels and. Yeah. Are you happy with, like, the outfits you packed and like, the clothing?

[Danielle]

Very much so. I did run out towards the end, but I'm glad I didn't, like, overdo it. Yeah. The skirts, I was fine with redoing, but, like, my shirts, I was like, I kinda.

Then did laundry at one point. I was like, I am not doing laundry. Like, I am on vacation, damn it. I'm not doing laundry.

That he did. Yeah. Yeah. It was very sweet. Sweet. But I would recommend packing. They said layers and then also just like, basics. There were outfits that I did not plan on wearing together. But like, I was like, eh, it works. So whatever.

Yeah. We did end up going to an Italian restaurant there, which was really interesting because we wanted to break up the food, you know, whatever. Then the concierge person at the hotel actually was like, it's like, you know, multiple locations. Italian. I was like, sounds perfect.

Do you know Olive Garden? Yeah.

No. So she sends us there and we order. So we sit down, we order our food. A lot of the times it was ordering, unfortunately, like via pointing or Google Translate was my best friend. Because you can scan the menu and it, like, translates it or like, honestly, A lot of the times I would, like, write something and, like, show it, because I feel like that's probably the best way to do it. So we ordered a pizza.

Now, it's not a thick crust. It was like a thin. We saw other people getting it. Thin pizza, a pasta. And then I did an order of steak. So for Ben and I, that's what I. That's what we ordered. Drinking water, you know, whatever we put in the order. She comes back, like, two minutes later with, like, a message written on her phone for us on Google Translate. She's like, oh. And she hands it. She goes. The message said, this order is a lot for two people. Can you manage it?

Yeah. And we looked at each other like, yes, yes, we will be okay.

Yeah. And they were like, oh, it was. We got the. All the types of bread.

She told people about it all night. Probably just like, those two big Americans came all.

Not okay. A bunch of little stories. Well, number one, they're eating fish at 7am so I'm worried about you with breakfast.

I'm really worried about me too. Like even at the hotel there it's

more of like a continental spread, but it's still. It's not, not all of them have like an omelette station, you know, eggs. They have, they have like eggs. They have like a hard boiled. Like some of them have more than others. But yeah. And just not. They're just not that big into breakfast in general. Right.

Whereas you know, we, we got Cracker Barrel. Like we love that like country like breakfast moment.

They have pancakes. The pancake place opens at 11.

And then they do this thing outside of a lot of them where it's like a fortune, and for 100 yen. And then no one's enforcing it. You just put. You put it in the box. You know, it's self. Because they're in this orderly society where they can trust people to actually do this.

Yes. And I saw it. I was like, fortunes. Oh, my God, I'm so. And like, so we walk over. The tour guide takes us. She said, yes. You shake this box, A number comes out, and then you check the number, put it back in the box, and then go over to the corresponding sheets of paper for the numbers. Whoa. Yes. Very orderly system. Makes sense. So I was like, okay, I'll do it. So I like. I shake it, get a number, go over. I was like, let's see what the fortune says. I get the English copy. Sorry. This is great. They have it ready to go for me. At the top, it says, bad fortune. Do not take the trip. Do not take the risk. Do not do that.

Like, I'm on the trip.

No, literally, I was like, oh, my God, I got a bad fortune. And then I was like, I didn't know that bad fortune was an option. Like, in America, we would not have bad. Like, if it was like, shake for a fortune. It wouldn't be like, half of them are bad.

Yeah. So I wasn't thinking. Then my tour guide, she's like, no worries. No worries. You can tie it up on this wire and leave it behind, and it doesn't follow you.

It didn't say the price, so I, like, found out when I checked out. It's a discount store. I mean, everything was cheap, but the two things combined were 1. 25 US dollars. I took notes too. So I went to Coachella with Barbie, which was so fun. And I feel like a lot of people were wondering, like, what, you know, are we promoting the dolls? I heard them talking about it on the toast. They were like, so, wait, what? And basically, basically, it's all about the idea of Barbie, which I thought was really cool about, like, being who you want to be. Yeah. The idea and the confidence that you get being a Barbie and how there's so many different Barbies. And it was. It was so fun. They did such a great job. And I was really lucky because they invited our dear friend Clara Purse as well. So we got to do the trip together, and we just had the best time. Like, when you go to a festival, you need to have a buddy. You have to establish a buddy. Like, I honestly, like, it's very important that you like, know something, because then it's like you're gonna go to the same sets together. Like, you're just, like, aligned on everything. And so that was really, really fun. It was awesome because Clara is such a pro tick tocker. So she would have transitions every day for us. She had unique idea. Like, we were just having so much fun with that. And obviously, as you guys know, I'm usually, like, a Stagecoach person, but if the lineup for Coachella is something I really want to see, like, I go. So for months. That's also one of the reasons I didn't go to Japan with Brooke and Ben was because I realized it was gonna be during Coachella, and I really wanted to see Justin Bieber. And thank go you guys. I am so touched. I am just so touched. It was amazing. But I have to talk about a couple things that I noticed at Coachella and just things that happened. Of course. Have you heard of sprouts?

It's just random trinket. Like, yeah, it was crazy.

I've been given. I think I might have told you this. Like, I've been given, like, trinkets, like, at concerts. Like, when I'm dancing next to someone, they, like, will give me, like, a little. Like, they haven't been times squared. The bikes. I think that's what they're called. The bike.

The bikers. Yeah, they have those in Japan, too.

So we got one of those, and we, like, beat all the. Like, we literally got out of our car and just would go to the festival like that. But we just had to pee so bad. But yes, in the artist era, I was really excited to have artist passes because I've had artist pass for Stagecoach, and they're sick. Like, it's where all the celebrities are, whatever. And it's the same for Coachella. But this year. And, hey, I was excited to be there, so let me not. But there were just so many more people. Like, the artist area was so packed for Sabrina Carpenter the first night that I was like, oh, my God, for Justin Bieber, we're gonna literally have to, like, camp out. And I actually wish we, like, camped out longer. I also see why people wear adult diapers to these things. Because I could have used it. Definitely could have used it. I didn't. We didn't.

[Danielle]

But so then you lose your spot and you. Yeah. Like, you lose your spot for good.

[Brooke]

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You lose your spot for good. It was really interesting, too, when we were in the artist bathroom area. Like, you know, it's like, we're all dogs here. Like, once you're in the artist area, it's like we're all. No, no, no. Like, certain celebrities would, like, cut us in line. Like, their security guards would get them to the front of the line so they could pee. And I'm like, people, we all have to pee.

[Danielle]

So I have a question, because I, like, I know that that's the. So you were in the celebrity.

[Brooke]

Yeah, they really were there. Which was.

[Danielle]

No, I completely believe. I mean, it must be true. But, like, when Haley. When they, like, show Haley on the. In the crowd at Justin set, is she in a special, special area?

[Brooke]

I thought she would be, but from videos, I think she's just at the very front of artists.

[Danielle]

But they, like, walked her up.

[Brooke]

They walked her and opened a barricade. I'm so touched by the Biebers. Like, I'm just so happy for them.

[Danielle]

I know. I feel like they're really getting a lot of positive PR this week.

[Brooke]

They deserv.

Yeah.

They literally deserve it so much. I am just so. That concert, like, I won't even talk about so much cuz, like, you could just go on Tik tok and like, it was just so special and I'm just so grateful I got to be there. Like, truly.

It was full circle. I'm sure, like, for a lot. I'm not special in that way. Like, so many people grew up like Beliebers, but it was just so touching to see him, like, seriously come out of his shell and be so happy. And like, then to see Weekend too, he's just even more confident and like, it was. It was the coolest thing. But it is so crazy because in my head, like, everyone knows Justin Bieber. Like, we all know what's going on. We all know that he hasn't toured in so long, whatever. But the other day I was here in New York and I was talking to someone and I was like, oh, I just got back from Coachella. I got to see Justin Bieber. She was like, oh, like, what's he? Is he on a world tour right now? I was like, oh, my God. People don't even know the lore.

[Danielle]

Yeah, they're not, like, too deep into it.

[Brooke]

I think this was like, the biggest deal that he performed at Coachella. He hasn't performed to a big audience in. So it was just like, yeah, I just think everyone's in my world. But.

No, no, I know. I get that too. About certain artists I'm like, to have. Haven't we seen the footage of, like, so and so? Or I'll like, look someone up and I'm like, oh, they just finished a tour. I didn't see anything about the tour. Yeah.

Also that it's just like, it's actually really cool that everyone has their own interests and there's like, little pockets of everything.

Yeah. Oh, that's a good way of looking at it. Yeah, it was healing. I feel like a lot of Beliebers were like, it was healing. Did you feel that way?

It was so healing. Like, as like, era's tour was for chance. Like, it.

Oh, my God, yeah, I figured it was like. And I really didn't think I honestly. And I was, I was prepared like we kind of talked about in the podcast, I was prepared for it too be like swag his new album and like maybe throw in baby. But to have him go up there and like pull up his YouTube and like really. And the people that didn't understand, I was like, you don't know kid. Raul, he started on YouTube. Like it was, it was just so special. And then just to see Haley and him, like I feel like him and Haley are like even more in love right now. Like God, I just, I feel like

he got through his demons. Like I feel like he was like in a dark place and like too, you know.

honestly I don't know where to find it. Thank God. Honestly, thank God weekend too. I was at home in Florida and I literally stayed up till 2.30am to start it and thank God I did because the next morning I couldn't even find where to watch it full cuz it streamed on YouTube maybe or I know I hearing rumblings of him doing a documentary. So maybe they're. Maybe it's gonna be be on Netflix one day or who knows. But I'm glad I stayed up. My mom actually I wasn't staying at her condo but she texted me at 2:30. She's like, oh baby, I'm up. I'm in the bathroom watching it. She literally stayed up till 4am with me.

She has been touched by this whole thing through me because she grew, I grew up and she would take me to all these concerts with my dad and like I don't know, I think we all just. I'm like, yeah, you're thriving. This is like the season of your music.

Yeah. No, she was. She. We had so much fun at Young Thug. Like, it was good. It was. We were both aligned on who we wanted to.

And I don't think that means you're not a real fan. It means like, you listen to so many of his songs. Like, I don't know. I just think I was like, I don't judge that.

I mean, it's like if someone like follows you but doesn't like know everything about you. Yeah. Or maybe they're a bigger YouTube fan than like on Right. Or something. I feel like 100 equivalent. But they know the overarching. Like.

I was explaining this to someone recently because I was talking about someone who's pregnant. I was like, I knew she was pregnant. I didn't know how pregnant because I

You know, Like, I feel like that's how I follow a lot of people is like loosely. Totally to understand.

It was a really. It was so fun. There was a welcome dinner the first night that was so fabulous. And. And they just. We had everything. Barbie Merch. And we were actually. We weren't in a house technically, but it was like, we were all in villas right next to each other with our own, like, pool. So it felt like it. They just did such a good job. It was so fun. I was so, so grateful to go.

So how far was the hotel from the. Well, you said two hours, but we

stayed in Palm Springs. That's also why normally I stay in Indio, which is like closer. So that's al. That also played into it. But Palm Springs is like, prettier, I think, than in like, yeah, mountains. It's very vibey. But no, I. And I'm just. I. As this is going up, I would have just gone back from Stagecoach, but, like, I'm. I'm so excited to go back to the desert. I've got like desert fever. I don't know. You're in a desert fever.

I've got the itch. And thank God, because that's, you know, it's a lot go back to. But I'm so excited. Oh, my God. And as this is going up, you would have just ran the marathon. Half marathon.
