We were at the courthouse trying to get our domestic partnership license. Is that what we wore all white? Well, we did wear all white. I have something else after this, which I'll get into. And I was just like, okay, well, now I'm just, like, wearing all white.

You know what I mean?

But, yeah, but I was. You have to go through, like, security to go through into a courthouse, which, like, honestly, does make me feel more secure, because, I don't know, it's like a big, like, federal building. I forget it's legit, the dmv. Like, you know, you think that it's like gonna be. It's not in the same building as the dmv, but like, you think it's gonna be like, it's in like an old courth.

[Danielle]

You know, you're like, oh, I'm going

[Brooke]

to the nice old courthouse. And the security guy, he was like, congratulations. Because I think he thought that I was getting like, my marriage license.

[Danielle]

I'm sure he did.

[Brooke]

Yeah. No, and a few other people in the waiting room said that too, because they are also dressed. Some people bring like a crew because they're like getting married and like, you know, they bring their people.

[Danielle]

Were they like in white dresses and stuff?

[Brooke]

A lot of the ladies were in white dresses, but Ben was a blue lemon shorts. So I was like, it's like offensive.

[Danielle]

Like, yeah.

[Brooke]

You would show up like this, like for our wedding day.

[Danielle]

My groom looking like that.

[Brooke]

He wasn't like. But it was like all gray.

[Danielle]

Kind of like it was giving.

[Brooke]

Yeah, I know. And a guy went up to him specifically, was like, congratulations.

But no, we waited there for 30 minutes and it's just a long line. I have to go back another time, essentially. So sorry.

You're so dedicated to the gals, you're like, no, I got to record.

Well, you know, it should be just like a paperwork appointment.

No, it's so silly.

[Brooke]

What even is domestic partner. People are probably like, what is this like? Cuz it seems like it's like the biggest insurance fraud scam of all time. But it's like literally the legal. I don't even want to call it a loophole because it's just. It's the completely legal thing that just sort of like happened. And I don't think it's everywhere, but I know it's in New York State. I. New York City.

Everyone does it. Yeah. Because I think basically before gay marriage was legal, like, this was like the partnership situation that, like, people did, which was so crazy that like, that was.

You had to.

Then you had to do that. You kind of just like get married.

But happy pride month.

[Brooke]

Yes, Happy pride. Yes. But they were like, you can be domestic partners, but you can't be married. Like, what the. Okay, whatever. But then they just kept it around, and then people of all types started using this.

Right.

[Brooke]

Basically it gets you, but it, like, isn't marriage. It really only gets you because I looked into it. I was like, should we just get legally married if we're gonna do all this paperwork? Like, I had the Thought like I was like, I mean if we're going to the courthouse and doing all the paperwork, like, not that I wanted to do that per se, but I'm like, it would save me a trip I guess. Like, you know, meanwhile it's.

It takes a while.

[Brooke]

Yeah, yeah. But domestic partner versus marriage. Domestic partner literally only gets you rights to. You have to live with someone. You have to like prove that you live together. You don't really need much proof though. It's not like they're asking you like, you know in like the movies when they ask you the question.

Separate rooms.

[Brooke]

Yeah.

What does she eat for breakfast?

[Brooke]

Yeah, no, no, I'm pretty sure you literally just fill out like a form. Like we filled out most of it online and we just have to like sign in person.

Like, and maybe like say, like say something. I don't really know. It's not. There's no. Yeah, yeah. But it literally only gets you rights to be on the same insurance. So like what partner A could be on partner B's or vice versa.

Yeah, it is really nice. I always kind of like, you know, when we started dating I was like, oh, if we like you know, end up together, like it would be nice like to get some health insurance. Being creative. You know, I do pay for it out of pocket but like it'll be nice to be on something. Like it's still, you still have to pay for it obviously.

Hopefully some good coverage that you know, isn't an arm and a leg. And that's literally it though. Like I was like, what else? What? What? It's like city employees get a few more things like whatever. But it's not. I was like, okay, but like, you know, does he have like rights to like my, you know, like are we talking about bank account? Yeah, like will making and stuff like that. But no, no, it's literally nothing. Like, like the only thing is insurance, which is kind of crazy because it's literally illegal. It is a legal local. It's completely legal. They actually like so many people do this. This is such a common experience in your 20s.

Good tip. Some people should look into if it's available in your state or city.

A lot of my friends are like doing it now. I don't know why suddenly we all Woke up at 20. Cuz like 29, I'm running. I'm like, I got to make it. I'm not going to make my appointment.

So then I kept going. I was like, I live with my boyfriend in my apartment. I'm like, why am I showing him where my apartment is?

My foot's totally fine. I went and got an X ray afterwards after our recording a few weeks ago because I was like, oh, my God, my freaking foot's broken now because I was actually in a lot of pain.

Yeah. And it was completely fine. And I was like, you know what? I'm just gonna take it easy for the next few weeks. And it just. The pain completely subsided. I took a break from running for a little bit, and then I focused on, like, strength training and stuff. So I don't know. Some people told me the same thing happened to them. They were like, look, I ran. I didn't fully hurt myself, but I felt it coming. And then, you know, you ease off of it. If it obviously kept hurting, like, I would have gone again because then you have to get, like, an MRI and stuff. But I'm. I'm good. I'm in the clear.

Yeah, this was like, my first run back.

Well, and then if I don't eat, then I get the shake. So it's like, you have to eat right after, like, to really, like, you know, take care of yourself. Yeah, you got it.

Can I tell you something that happened to my friend?

And I got her permission to show.

Because I just, like, didn't know that this could happen with, like, all this travel everyone has coming up in the summer. And you'll let me know if you've heard this. Oh, my friend was going to Charleston, actually was boarding her flight, so she obviously heard they had scanned her boarding pass, everything. She wasn't checking a bag, but they scanned her boarding pass to check in through tsa. She goes to get on the plane, and they're like, oh, we gave your seat away. She was like, what? And they were like, you didn't check in in time? I didn't check in in time. So many of my flights, I check in. Like, I guess a lot of times I do it the day before because you just get the notification. It's easy. But I've definitely, like, checked in on my way to the airport before, and she was like, I did check in, and I have been through tsa, and they're like, that's our policy. She flew American Airlines.

I was gonna say, I feel Delta.

[Danielle]

No. I was like, maybe Delta just doesn't do this. But she was like, no, they lit. They literally, her and two other people, their seats were given up, and she was. She was, like, so upset. She was with her boyfriend. Her boyfriend.

Like, so he went, yeah.

[Danielle]

She was like, you have to go. Like, we have to get there. So she got on the next flight. It was fine. But what the.

[Brooke]

That's really crazy.

[Danielle]

Tell me everything. Like, did you do something wrong? She was like, no. They said, I didn't check. You're supposed to check in one day before.

Yeah. Yeah.

[Danielle]

I didn't know that.

Yeah. I mean, I know that they give up the. On the. The seats, but I thought that Those are literally 10 minutes before the flight, like, leaves. Like, it's like, yeah, you know, very, very, very last minute. Like, yeah.

And, like, she had already gone through security. Like, they had. She's been scanned already. So, I mean, yeah, maybe she literally didn't check in until she's walking into the airport, but I know so many people that do that.

[Brooke]

But you have a ticket. Did she? Okay, now this is where I'm gonna get into the nitty gritty.

it, like, a basic ticket or was it main?

I should ask, because if it was basic, maybe you lose some rights.

You don't have as many.

You actually have, like, no rights. Like, if you get the basic. I know this. With Delta, there's, like, main, which is like, of course the main. But then there's a level below, which is, like, basic, which is a much cheaper fare. But, like, legitimately, it's like, if the flight is full, you're kicked off. If, like, there's so many things. It's like you do not have a seat assignment until.

I know exactly what you're saying.

But still, you would still think that you have your ticketed passenger on that plane, though, even if you have no rights. Like, you know, like, that's kind of crazy.

Because that's happened to Ryan, where you, like, get assigned your. He does. He basically does that every time.

Because they were on, like, the 6am flight. I would have been so tired, pissed.

We were just walking. We're running our errands. Where were we walking from? We've just been walking all around. Yeah. We've both been trying to get 10k steps. So we're like, let's, like, walk and pick up dinner. You know, like, let's go to the bank.

Like, we're. Yeah, well, when the weather's nice like this, too, it's like, let's lean in.

Suddenly I see.

I saw this. I sent it to Brooke, but this girl posted that one Love island episode is about 13k steps on three speed. And that really made me want to watch on the treadmill. Like, that's smart. Yeah, just put it on your phone. On the treadmill walk.

Yeah.

13K steps. Hell, yeah.

[Brooke]

Yeah, I know. And things like that make me want to get, like, the treadmill for my apartment, but I know I'm not going to use it.

And I know it for a second. Like, it's nice, but that's if you have a house.

Yeah, it just. It's nice during some seasons. And you're like, I'm actually so over it, but we should quickly talk about Love Island. Even though by the time this is up, there have been so many episodes, but I'm. I'm already in.

I watched it in, like, 2020, like, randomly, because I just had.

Like, I was just. They used to like Barrett. Well, it is kind of. Big Brother is also another reality TV show on cbs, and they used to have it on CBS before it was on Peacock. So it was like. It kind of, like, went into it. So I was like, oh. And it was like, Covid. I literally had nothing going on. I lived in the city by myself. I was like, sure, I'll watch it. Sure. And it was bad. It used to be really bad. Like, I feel like they completely, like, redid it because it was like, cut for tv. So they Couldn't, like, curse or, like, be inappropriate really, or, like, whatever. And now, I mean, they definitely did, like, the kissing challenges and stuff like that. But now everybody just. Ben was watching the beginning with me and he was like, and now they're going to kiss that she's just going down the line. I was like, yeah, no, that's how it goes.

[Danielle]

Like, they're making out with tongue, too.

[Brooke]

Yeah, but I don't mind. I'm like, it's hot people. Like, they're beautiful people. They are so. I hate to use word, but they're so confident.

[Danielle]

They really know. During all of their intros, like, they all just looked so good. Like, dancing in the Ocean. I'm like, I would not look.

[Brooke]

I know when they're just like child

Yeah. So like I guess it's like the equivalent of like two semesters. So he has his like two blocks of time that he is off. So we have to plan the engagement party kind of around that.

Not really. But it would be ideal too. Cuz like I don't want him to like do it on his one day off. No.

Well, and we have to do like I'm gonna do the call with like the planner and Ben. But like it's really. I was like after this did you pick your planner? I did. She said yes to the planner she selected. I didn't sign the contract yet, but I, like, replied to her. I was like, you've been chosen.

Oh, my God. Is it like the one you kind of told me?

[Brooke]

Yeah, yeah. There's one that I just, you know, it's a vibe. They say that you really vibe with your person, so. But I. I picked her and she said yes, so.

[Danielle]

Amazing. So then you can start talking about venues and timing.

[Brooke]

Yeah, I think he's gonna be on, like, the first call, but then I don't think he really cares to be involved.

[Danielle]

Yeah. Like, I think, let me know the need to know.

[Brooke]

Yeah. And it is, like, ultimately, like, yeah, it's our day. But I think he trusts that I, like, know how to throw a party and stuff, so I think that he. And he knows what we. We have a loose list of, like, you know, must. Must haves.

Yeah. Haves. Things that need to be done. Yeah. And you said you might do it in the city or outside. We'll find out.

And even if the venue is beautiful, like, I like knowing that, like, I got married in New Jersey. Like, that doesn't sit right with me. I don't know how to explain it.

Like, if you're a Florida girl getting married in New Jersey and you live in New York City, like, I don't think that's as crazy.

You know, not that I probably in Jersey either, but, like, I don't know.

It's not really. I just had TikTok about a Long island experience that I'm curious if you had growing up, because, like, we talked about how, like, you know, Italian cultures and stuff, but my Italian grandparents would do this thing where they would have people over for coffee and cake. So it'd either be like a midday thing or like a dessert thing.

[Danielle]

That's so cute.

[Brooke]

So instead of it being like, you know, oh, come over for dinner. Come over. Like, you know, you'd be like, oh, like. Like, let's gossip. Over, like, coffee and cake. And they. My grandparents would always have an Entenmanns cake out on the counter with, like, with the knife in it, like a butter knife. You know what I mean? So you could like, easily take slice. And it just reminded me of, like, being younger, you know, Like a slice of cake and little gossip and like, a warm coffee. I'm like, I kind of wish I got to experience that, like, as an adult. As an adult. Because that sounds fabulous. Like, come over for coffee and cake coffee.

Maybe we should start implementing that, though. Like, come over for coffee and cake and gossip and piping hot tea.

Yeah, and piping hot tea. No, I love that. I actually think that's a really nice idea. Like, come over for dessert. Like. Yeah. Specifically cake. I'm so here for this, like, dot cake resurgence because, like, I'd, like, feel just love cake, so.

I love a box cake. I love. Honestly, I really like, like, a bakery cake. Like, I like going to, like, little cupcake bake shop and, like, getting like, a slice of cake. Like, to me, that's so much more premium than like, a little, you know.
