Brooke
The following podcast is a Dear Media production.
Danielle
We're doing an advice episode.
Brooke
I think we should leave this in. I think it's a really interesting debate.
Danielle
The hack.
Brooke
I feel like I'm nosy. A lot of our influencer friends, I asked them both.
Danielle
You and I have struggled with that so much.
Brooke
If you want things done a certain way, like, you need to bring it up.
Danielle
Clearly, I have a lot to say about this topic.
Brooke
This isn't advice. No, I really freaked out.
Danielle
You'd be panicking.
Brooke
Holy crap.
Danielle
Oh, so we're have to do that.
Brooke
That is so funny that we are still getting that question. Foreign. Hey, guys, what's up? Welcome back to Gals on the Go podcast.
Danielle
It's Brooke and Danielle. Happy Wednesday. Hope you're having a great day. I hope you're drinking a yummy coffee or matcha. I know the girlies love matcha these days. Do you drink?
Brooke
Yes, I do. And I actually just had a fantastic matcha at a place, Loaf on Paper in Williamsburg. I want to give a little shout out. So.
Danielle
Nice. Yes.
Brooke
No, because it. I mean, it's popular. Like, not a. Like, it's very popular.
Danielle
Gem Brooklyn.
Brooke
Waited in a short line. Short line. But I found it's a. It's a Japanese stationary store, which, you know, I love.
Danielle
Oh, that's fun.
Brooke
But then there's a cafe in the front part. Like big, big cafe in the front part of it. Wow, you guys would love it. It was like an Earl Gray matcha. It was delicious. Yeah. Iced in the right cup.
Danielle
The right cup. The right cup is very important.
Brooke
Very important. I have, like, my, like, half drank in, like coffee over here and a pen. I don't know. There's a pen here.
Danielle
Oh, my. Just in case you need to write something down. Hey, I mean, I will say, you guys, we do have paper today because we're doing an advice episode. You guys submitted questions, advice, all kinds of things for the gals to address. So that is why we have papers here. Just we thought, you know, let's be more analog, you know, let's have a paper in front of us instead of our phones, even though we're always holding our phones, you know. But this is. I really am enjoying this. So we'll. We'll do that in a little bit. But this is also a good time to say, hey, if you listen to the podcast and you like it, rate us five stars if you're feeling it. I feel like we never say that.
Brooke
Totally. If you haven't. Someone said I say totally too much. And now I can't stop thinking about it.
Danielle
I read that, but you do say that a lot.
Brooke
But I've never stim right now. Not like my filler word.
Danielle
Yeah, I think I'm working on those.
Brooke
Okay. Anyways, if I say it again, flagging subscribe on YouTube. If you guys don't watch on YouTube.
Danielle
Yes.
Brooke
I mean, the video's where it's at.
Danielle
The video's where it's at. You get to see our facial expressions, our outfits. Like, you know, it's a whole thing. It's really a whole thing. So definitely leave us a review on Apple if you're feeling it. Like, you know, give the guys some love. We never really asked for that. But I'm like every other podcast I listen to.
Brooke
You're so right.
Danielle
They always say that. So, you know, if you like what
Brooke
you hear, send it to a friend. You can giggle together.
Danielle
Yes. It's so fun. I love listening to podcasts and texting friends like, oh my God, that part. Like, did you hear that part? Yes.
Brooke
And especially now that it's like nice outside. We're going on our walks. Like, it's so nice to have a silly pot. Pov. It's a sunny day. What's your ideal temperature? Mine is like, honestly, today, like a 60 60s. 7 degrees.
Danielle
I like that.
Brooke
70 degree day.
Danielle
70.
Brooke
70 degree day.
Danielle
70 makes me feel confident about leaving, like in a tank top or something. 60s are great for New York. But like, if we're going. No, you're no idea. Because 70. You feel like I could put on a bathing suit. You're to tan.
Brooke
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And you're in your little athleisure. That's for me.
Danielle
It would be comfortable or something.
Brooke
Comfortable shoes. Yeah. And maybe as you said, a coffee match in hand and in my. In my ears is a funny podcast.
Danielle
I have something to say.
Brooke
Yes, yes.
Danielle
And I was talking to someone about this and I got confirmation that I'm not the only one feeling this way. Where did AirPod Maxes. Go. No one is wearing AirPod Maxes anymore. Have you noticed this?
Brooke
I think it's fear.
Danielle
Fear.
Brooke
Like, I think that people want to be more.
Danielle
Oh, like, aware.
Brooke
That's my working concept. But I agree, they're not pushing them as much. Yeah.
Danielle
Not even Apple. Just like, I know there was a time like, like, all the girlies, including myself, including you, posting, you know, with our coffee, with our AirPod Maxes, or over the ear headphones in general.
Brooke
I just haven't been gravitating towards them because, you know, when I run, I want to be more aware of my surroundings.
Danielle
Right.
Brooke
And also for the portability. Like, it doesn't really.
Danielle
No, it's.
Brooke
They were extremely. Not like.
Danielle
But isn't it weird?
Brooke
Like, it is weird if you think
Danielle
about it, like, no one be posting. No one be wearing them, even, like, out and about. I'm like, you're right. There are people wearing over the ear headphones, but specifically AirPod Maxes. And for me, mine actually kind of, like, stopped working, so that's why I stopped. But during the winter, I do usually like them because they kind of act as earmuffs too.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
This is like, a very specific conversation. But I. I just think. I think, yeah, a lot of people were just like, oh, if I'm running errands or something, that if you have a small purse, you can't just, like, pop them in there. But they. They are. They still serve a great purpose. It's just. But yeah, maybe it's the fear and you want to be more aware.
Brooke
And I. I have, like, a thing recently like, that I want to be very aware.
Danielle
Like, no, I think that's, like, really fair.
Brooke
Yeah. I don't know.
Danielle
We live in a big city. It's a crazy time. I think it's fair.
Brooke
Yeah. Yeah.
Danielle
I wonder what Katie B. Would say.
Brooke
Oh, Katie's like, oh, don't girls.
Danielle
I've already thought it all through.
Brooke
She's like, I got rid of all my over. Yeah, they have been destroyed. They've been destroyed. Yeah, they are. No, that's too good.
Danielle
No, but it is. It's officially that time where someone text me yesterday, like, do you want to go for a walk tomorrow? Like, we're there and that's exciting when the weather is good now. I hope this isn't a tease. New York's not like, but it's gonna get cold again. I don't know.
Brooke
I. I have seen there's, like, a thing. It. It's like New York guide to seasons and it's like there is like a false spring.
Danielle
False spring? Yeah.
Brooke
False positive, false spring. You know, little tease, a little tea.
Danielle
But you know what?
Brooke
They want to make you really want it.
Danielle
They're like, how bad do you really. Oh, just kidding. But it is nice. But yeah, I don't think it's time to, like, switch the closets yet, right? No, you know, like, flip the closets. Like, I put a lot of my summer stuff in storage and I'm like, I don't know if we're there yet.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
But soon.
Brooke
Yeah. I've been selling a lot of my. I don't know. That's been like, selling my trade. I'm getting.
Danielle
I've just been ripping the real rail and selling it.
Brooke
I really have been. I don't know why. Like, I've just been encouraged to like. I think because I tell myself, like, the more you get rid of, the more you can get.
Danielle
Like, hey, I'm there. You get rid of. If there is an empty clothing hanger, that means something else can go on it.
Brooke
That's what I'm saying. And I'm like, I'm making money back from selling my items that, like, you know, if I wore a nice dress a few times and I have like, nice dresses, but I'm like, I'm never going to wear this again.
Danielle
So this is true. You know, we have all those, like, live show dresses.
Brooke
So many live show dresses.
Danielle
I did just send a lot of new of my item. New items of mine to Pickle. So you can go check, like, my birthday outfit I put on there, like a couple things. So Pickle's great. Honestly.
Brooke
Yeah, No, I agree. I've. I've been more of a renter these days on Pickle than a rent. Than a ren.
Danielle
No, no, I rent. Yeah. Cuz you're renting.
Brooke
Yeah, I'm the. Yes.
Danielle
Then they're the rent. Te. I guess I never thought about it like that.
Brooke
Yeah, I go through phases, you know,
Danielle
sometimes I'm like, yeah, you're fashion passing it up. Rent the Runway.
Brooke
I. I have the fashion pass in constant rotation. That's like, good for. It's a supplemental wardrobe.
Danielle
We need to talk about your Aritzia experience.
Brooke
Oh, I'm wearing one of the top.
Danielle
I know. I recognized it.
Brooke
Holy crap. Okay, so this is a whole thing. And it's free.
Danielle
It's a hack. I feel like people need to know
Brooke
about it is I. I feel like I knew that Aritzia had personal styling. Like, I had seen them, like, in the dressing rooms before.
Danielle
Okay, I've seen stories.
Brooke
Stores. Like, I've seen, like, signage maybe around the store, personal shopping.
Danielle
But, like, you know, you don't really think much of it.
Brooke
About our personal shopping.
Danielle
Yeah, Like, Nordstrom does that, too.
Brooke
And it's like, okay, I'm like, I'm good.
Danielle
Yeah. Like, I can do it. But, no, they seem to do a really good job.
Brooke
And I saw some people go. And, like, the people just nailed it. And so I honestly, I reach out to my contact, Ed Aritzia, because I, you know, have a client. My contact is amazing. And I was like, how do I, like, arrange this? And she was like, we can totally, like, set it up for you, but anyone can set it up for themselves. As gals on the go, I feel like we're kind of experts in all things athleisure. Like, I could certify us as experts.
Danielle
I'd say so. We've been around the block. We've tried all the brands, and we have one that we absolutely love, one
Brooke
that really has always been a standout to the gals is FP Movement. Because I don't know about you, Danielle, but, like, when I'm working out, like, half the battle for me is, like, getting to the gym or getting to the workout class or getting on the run, whatever. So I want to, like, look cute and feel cute when I'm doing it. And FP Movement. Whenever I'm in an FP Movement set, I'm feeling myself. I feel good, I feel cute. I feel girly. Honestly, I feel so feminine when I
Danielle
wear their pieces, I feel so feminine. That's a great way to put it. Whenever I put a pair of the carpe Diem shorts on, I feel like a million dollars. I feel amazing. I. I feel so feminine. I love the colors. They are so freaking comfortable. And I don't think people realize, or maybe if you do. Hello. Hi. You're a gal on the go. This is Free People's activewear brand, FP Movement. So they have some of their own stores. Like, the FP Movement store here in New York City is so, so cool. So it has that, like, free people vibe, but Athleisure Edition.
Brooke
I know. You're so right. I feel like it's, like, secret. It's like people don't even know that it's Free People.
Danielle
It's.
Brooke
Yeah, it's FP Movement.
Danielle
Yeah. It honestly stands out on its own. But just so you know. You know.
Brooke
Yeah. And we've been, like, long stand. We've been fans, obvious Free People for forever. And I feel like once they started sort of like, this activewear situation, we were very early adopters, I'd say. I would say. And I feel like you walk around New York City, you go on the west side highway, you go. Honestly, everywhere that I've been traveling. Like, I just went to Atlanta. All the girlies on the belt line, I'm telling you, they're all wearing FP movement.
Danielle
I believe it.
Brooke
And. But they look so cute. They're wearing their pink little shorts and their little tank tops, and I just. I love it. I love that you can pick out, like, by different colors. I love getting, like, an all pink set, and I could, like, search by the color name and kind of feel all cute. I'm still looking for outfits for my half marathon, so it's a big contender. It is.
Danielle
That would be really cute. Not to mention their fleeces.
Brooke
I. I mean.
Danielle
I mean, Brooke has every color.
Brooke
I think, you know that I have all of the fleeces, but we're, like, stripping back layers this season.
Danielle
So now.
Brooke
Now I'm wearing my go to smooth square neck Cami. I love, like, they're such nice, like, in. Right. And I feel like I don't need to wear, like, that's, like, a tank top that, like, has a sports bra built into it. But there's sports bras. Everything's like, like, just. It's made for the girlies who are working out but want to look cute.
Danielle
You want function, but you also want to look amazing. They have all their pieces have those, like, performance qualities that we really want in our activewear, like sweat wicking fabrics, breathable materials, and that stay put compression that Brooke was talking about. But they also have these amazing, like, details and vibrant colors.
Brooke
Yeah, I love, like, the pocket placements. Like, everything's, like, very. It just makes sense, and it's great for, like, you. You know, you go and run your little two miles or go on your hot girl walk, but then you also want to, like, meet up with a friend for, like, a quick brunch or a matcha or something. It's very much so, like, universal pieces that I don't feel like. It just looks like you're. You look put together still.
Danielle
I literally got the set from FP movement that I felt so good, and it was a one and done. I feel like I could go work out in it, but then go hang out, do whatever. And you just literally look like you get compliments. It's not even like, oh, and you look put together. No, you get compliments.
Brooke
There's Truly something for everyone. If you're not a person who, like, likes to wear color, like, they've got amazing neutrals. If you're someone who I. I always find it so difficult to find activewear in, like, bold, vibrant colors.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
But FP Movement, like, they hit.
Danielle
They hit. So visit fpmovement.com to shop their full line of activewear and workout gear.
Brooke
My stylist was Monvir. She was amazing. She went to my Instagram before, so she got an idea of my style, but when I saw the looks on that, even just on the hangers, like, the little way she had the scarves tied, I was like, I'm already in. Wow. I spent a good amount of money, but, like, everything is, like, stuff that can be worn. And that's what I like about Aritzia. She nailed it. She has, like, a similar build to me, and she was like, oh. She was like, you have a nice long neck like me.
Danielle
I was like, oh, no, I had a long neck.
Brooke
Oh, I didn't know. I have a long neck, which is good for scarves. Like, I just never thought. Thought about, like, wearing those little scarves. I always, you know. Yeah, I wondered. I was scarf curious.
Danielle
Yeah, she's scarf curious. But, like, having someone style an outfit and you're like, wait, this is amazing.
Brooke
And show you how to tie it and how you can pair different pieces with different things. Like, it's. It's honestly just having another person's eye.
Danielle
I think it's great because I. I love Aritzia, but sometimes I do walk in and I'm like, it's a ton of basics, and sometimes I just want one bold piece to kind of style around. But then I've seen Emma Lego do this. Brook Wyatt, and now you've gone and everyone has came out with these amazing outfits built with all these capsule pieces, like you said. So I am so happy that you found a ton of outfits.
Brooke
You should honestly go before you go to Japan, because she styles a good idea. A lot of the looks I'm not going to be wearing for, like, the original purpose that I went for because I just like them so much. I was like, I want to wear these on my Japan trip.
Danielle
Yeah, that's a capsule wardrobe. Okay, thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll do that.
Brooke
Yeah, I got, like, a nice, like, light coat, you know, probably when you go, but, like, vibe.
Danielle
That's so cool. I just. I thought you should mention that because I didn't know it was free also. So it's just like, they do it in the hopes. Oh, that you buy something.
Brooke
I obviously spent way more than I. You know, going into it, I had to talk with myself, like, how much I was like, brooke, this is your limit. Yeah, it's. They're naturally. You say, like, she. They're not pushy. She was not at all like. Like, there was definitely things where I was like, I don't know about this. And she's like, nah, you don't need it. Like, she was on.
Danielle
I love that. I appreciate that.
Brooke
Yes. And. And even she let me, like, not let me. But I was like, oh, I actually already have a pair of jeans like this. And she's like, okay, well, you would just style this with, like, the pair of jeans. Like, I can get you it to try on. Like, what?
Danielle
Just so you can visualize. Yeah, I love that. I think that's great. And I think it's even good if people, you know, starting a new job and you're like, I want five solid outfits for work.
Brooke
You. So.
Danielle
Right. Like, that would be perfect.
Brooke
Yeah. And they just get it. And she. I have her, like, contact now. She's like, literally text me with any questions. Like, the fact that I could just pick. I mean, I haven't, because I'm. I don't know. Like, I just question about. I don't want to bother, but, like, you know, I could send a picture and be like, what could I help me, like, make this, you know?
Danielle
Yeah. Oh, that's so fun. Because other than like, when we've done gals in the ghost shoots, have you ever.
Brooke
Oh, yeah.
Danielle
You maybe have been styled for a movie premiere or something.
Brooke
Have you ever. We did the stylist check, like, virtual style. Oh, she told me. I do really like the virtual stuff. Like, they just put together outfits for you basically in like, a collage, and you just, like, buy them.
Danielle
Yes. That is really.
Brooke
There is something to be said about someone, like, hands on.
Danielle
Yeah. Like, let's try this shoe. Yeah.
Brooke
But I could use, like, some mood boards.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
Like, I could use someone to be like, here are some, like, you know, maybe. But I. I guess I need, like, a real, like, big. Like, it's helpful for when you're like, oh, I have a movie premiere or like a big party or something. Like.
Danielle
Yeah, like a moment.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
And you have a moment. You have match day and then.
Brooke
Yeah, yeah. No, it's good. Honestly, I needed a spring wardrobe refresh.
Danielle
I. I think it's great. I was so excited about this for you. So thanks for sharing with the gals.
Brooke
Of course. I Had another thing happen to me this week.
Danielle
What?
Brooke
I got stuck in an elevator. No. Yes. No, I did. That was my. It was my first time. And I actually, recently. It's so funny. I had a premonition. I kind of believe that I've been having premonitions also. That's another thing.
Danielle
Okay.
Brooke
Like, I have, because I thought about this very niche tick tocker in my. I had a dream about her last night. First tick tock on my feed this morning was her. I swear I've been having premonitions. I have. It's. It's there. Okay.
Danielle
Let me know if there's any about me, okay?
Brooke
Oh, I will. Nothing. That's like. It hasn't been giving me any information. It's more just like, you think of clue to my day that's coming up. I'm telling you.
Danielle
To your day it is. I love that.
Brooke
Yes. It's clues. Okay.
Danielle
Okay. So did you have a clue about the elevator?
Brooke
I just. I thought about it. Like, I had thought. I was like, wow, I never got stuck in an elevator before. Shoot. It was an older elevator. It wasn't slow moving, but it was an older one. Like, in a midtown building. Ben and I got stuck. So we. We were going down. We stopped at. I think we had someone get on at our floor, and he was going to another floor because I think at one point there was someone on with us. But then he did get off, and then the door closed and we just bounced.
Danielle
Oh, like that little bounce.
Brooke
It was. I mean, I wasn't, like, pushed to the floor, but it felt in the moment like a big bounce.
Danielle
Well, you know, like, sometimes if you get on an elevator, it makes a little bounce. No, it was bigger.
Brooke
The door shut, and it was boom. Like, yeah, like, we bounced. And I literally. That. I don't know why. Like, that. I was like, we're gonna. We're crashing. Like tower.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
Like.
Danielle
Yeah. Was it just you two at this point?
Brooke
It was just us two. And I freaked out, Danielle. Like, I literally. I don't know what was wrong with. Like, I know what was wrong with me. Like, yeah, like, scared. Like, at first you're like, oh, my God. Lol, we're stuck in elevator. But then, like, the very real fears. I was like, oh, no, I'm gonna die in here. Like, this is. Ben is so calm, and he just.
Danielle
I was gonna say, he literally just
Brooke
calmly takes off his jacket, and he was like, we're probably gonna be here for a sec.
Danielle
Like, you know, he's comfortable.
Brooke
And then he was like, And I'm like, I don't know and I don't know what to do. And we're gonna have to whatever. And he was like stop. We have to preserve oxygen. And then I really preserve oxygen. I really freaked out.
Danielle
You guys. Spring is here. Brooke and I just went on a walk with our coffee. We're wearing tank tops, like we're feeling good. And this year we're gonna be shopping at Ross because there are spring trends. You know, you can find those flowy floral dresses or you know, Brooke and I both have like some trips coming up. You know, we cute things to wear.
Brooke
And I love that at Ross you can get the brands you love at 20 to 60% off of other retailers prices. So you're still getting like those brands that you know, the brands that you, you're like I love when I'm shopping somewhere and I look at the tag and I'm like oh yeah, like of course. This just makes sense. But the prices are at really late. Like they're unbelievable. They really are.
Danielle
They're. You're like, it's like you raised your sunglasses down and you're like, I'm sorry. Is that correct? Ross also has home decor that can really bring any space. A colorful refresh. I've been kind of renovating my room back at home in Florida and I'm going to pop into Ross because I just need like a couple new little things and it's perfect. Or if you have like outdoor area, they have some great on trend outdoor entertaining essentials like place settings. Also some more decorative pillows.
Brooke
I feel like for me seasonal pieces I don't want to spend too much on just because I know that you know like the, the seasonal spring pillows and whatnot. Like I just can't justify spending so much on those. And that's why I love to go to Ross. Once again they, they' more of those brands you love. And at Ross you don't just shop, you work your magic. Truly there's, there's magic being done there.
Danielle
Yeah. And gotta love like a good in person store experience. It's kind of nice to walk in and see what they had.
Brooke
I like getting a coffee like going to Ross with like your mom.
Danielle
Like it hits with your mom. At Ross you don't just shop, you work your magic. So find your nearest ross@rossstores.com.
Brooke
once he said I was like, wait,
Danielle
why was he out of oxygen?
Brooke
Because you're in this box. I don't know. I mean is it airtight? I have no idea. I have literally no Idea. I started freaking out. I'm. I see the security camera in the corner. I'm waving. I go, hey, we're in here. The guy did see it at the end when we finally got off. Yeah. He was like, we saw you. I saw you in the camera.
Danielle
Like, did you ring?
Brooke
Oh, so we rang the bell. It. It, like, you know, it's like. And it dials us to a company. And. And they were like, hello, this is,
Danielle
you know, like a recording.
Brooke
No, no, it's a person. But they were like, hi, this is, you know, XYZ Elevators. Like, how can we help you? And I said, we're stuck in the elevator. I mean, that's exactly why. Okay, so to clarify, the reason that you're calling is you're stuck in the elevator. They were asking me questions as if it was like, my computer couldn't turn on. Like, I was like, no, I'm. I'm stuck. Like, have you tried restarting? Yeah, I was like, no, the elevator door shut. We can't get out. And it's an emergency, actually. Like, this is not. Then they're asking. They're like, and what state are you in? Are you kidding?
Danielle
We'd have to do that.
Brooke
You don't even know what state I'm in.
Danielle
You probably didn't even know the address of where you were. No, they would have to find it.
Brooke
They're like, what's the elevator number? Number? I'm like, oh, one. It definitely was not a one, because, like, I just saw. Oh, one.
Danielle
The first one.
Brooke
I just saw the first number that I saw. And I, like, shot. And they were like, okay, and what's your name? And a good callback number.
Danielle
Callback number.
Brooke
Well, I'm trying to. Like, the firefighters. You gotta open the door. Like, this is not.
Danielle
So it went to, like, something not even local.
Brooke
That's. No, it went to the. Like, the. The. The elevator. I was like, can you just connect us with the doorman? Maybe you can help us out. Like, we're literally one floor up.
Danielle
Like, so this isn't on the phone. This is on the elevator.
Brooke
We're talking to the elevator.
Danielle
Yeah, that number should be changed. It should not go to this company.
Brooke
And, like, when they asked me what state I was in, I almost went apeshit. Like, I was like, I am gonna freak out.
Danielle
Like, I. Oh, you don't even know that. Yeah, it's gonna take a while.
Brooke
And then when they wanted my name,
Danielle
I was like, what do you need my name for? Literally, what does it matter? What if it was freaking Taylor Swift.
Brooke
Yeah. And then we did get disconnected. Then they did call me back, but by that point we had already hit redial on the thing. So we've both people on the. They're both talking at each other. They were like, and what's. You know, like, what's the. When they were like asking. They were like, and what can you. Like, what's the problem? They asked me to repeat the problem again. I was like, we are stuck. The door is closed.
Danielle
There is nothing else to say. Oh, my gosh.
Brooke
And then eventually we started. I think that. I don't know if it got reset or maybe they pushed the button on the outside lobby. So that triggered some. Whatever it was like, we started moving in. We moved to the bottom floor. Like, the door opens after probably 10 minutes. We were immobile for probably 10 minutes.
Danielle
You, like, had to pee if you had to poop. Oh, sorry, Ben.
Brooke
No, your brain goes to other. That's fight or flight.
Danielle
Like, your brain adrenaline's going like, oh, wow.
Brooke
So that's.
Danielle
Oh.
Brooke
But then it opens and then I get off and I go like. I'm like, that's a broken elevator. No one should go on there.
Danielle
You're like, no, we were just stuck in there.
Brooke
Like, do not save yourself. Do not let anyone. And the doorman was like, it's not broken. He was literally gas. Gaslighting me. He was like, I saw you on the camera. It's not broken. I was like. Like, we were bouncing and not moving. It was.
Danielle
You couldn't get out. It was stuck. Correct.
Brooke
It's broken.
Danielle
Guys, spring is around the corner. I am literally so beyond excited. And I kind of got off my routine for a second. I'm not even gonna lie. So it's kind of that perfect time to refresh your routine, get back into movement. I know Brooke is on it, and that's why we love Stacked. It's a female founded wellness brand that believes that movement is essential for a balanced life.
Brooke
Life. Their equipment, like their foldable stacked mat and the ultra grippy stacked mat pro and the adjustable stacked weights, they're versatile, they're convenient. Honestly, it's so motivating to get new equipment. And I gotta tell you guys about Stacked. Like, when you go to these workout classes in New York City, Danielle, I think we can both say this. You go to the workout classes, everybody shows. You know, like the hot yogas or the Pilates or whatever. Everybody's got a stacked mat.
Danielle
She's completely right. Like, I. They fold so nicely. They have bags now that you can Fit perfectly in there. Like, you just feel like a million dollars walking in with your stacked mat. Whether you're starting fresh or if you're like building strengths for the season ahead, stacked creates tools that fit seamlessly into your life and inspire you to move. That stacked mat inspires me to move. They have so many amazing colors. They fold up, like I said, so nicely. I also like how you can use it so many different ways. So, you know, sometimes if you're in a workout class and you need like a little bit of elevation so you can fold it like twice in, or if you want it completely flat, or if you just need something, rest your knees on so you don't hurt your knees on the floor. Like, there are so many ways it's very supportive, it's very comfortable, and it just acts as like a second piece of equipment. Like, you can use it so many different ways and it. You can easily. I just put it in my closet. Boom, done. Because it's nice and compact, you don't have to roll it up. Oh my gosh. Rolling up a yoga mat is so vulnerable. You have to start over so many times.
Brooke
It is. And I like, never get it tight enough. Like, no, this, it's like literally, it fold, fold. And as you said, said, like, it, it's just, it's multi purpose. And when you live in a city like New York, like, I don't have room for yoga blocks, if I'm being honest. I simply don't. So, like, you know, I need something that's gonna be an all in one. And that's why I also really like their weights. I've been loving these because, you know, I do my little arm series at home, like, whatever. And these are. I just think it's genius. So it's, the base of it is like a two pound weight. And then it comes with like two additional pieces that are also two pounds and they'd kind of just twist on the side, but they do securely lock in. It's not hard to. And it's. The actual, like weight itself is very comfortable to hold.
Danielle
Yeah, it's almost like, I don't want to say soft, but it has like a nice give to it.
Brooke
Yes, yes. And I love this because, you know, sometimes I can give, I can do this a full six pound workout. Sometimes I'm a two.
Danielle
Let's take it off. Yes. Take off the extra weight, which is so cool. It's customizable.
Brooke
And I feel like that's why stacked is what it is. Like, it's literally, it's Stacked every product. It's not just a product, it's a multi use and you're really getting like the a bang for your buck, honestly and your space. Like you, you need this stuff.
Danielle
You need this stuff. So Stacked has made it even easier to move with their curated sets. From the stacked starter set to the Pilates set, the perfect pair set and more, these bundles give you everything you need to kickstart your routine and save while you're at it. Visit shop stacked.com galsonthego and use code GALS at checkout for 20% off your purchase. That's S-H-O-P S T-A K T.com G A L S O N T H E G O and use code GALS for 20 off your order.
Brooke
I don't know. He was scary. No, it was just so funny. I didn't know that. That's cuz when you hit like emergency. Like we hit call cuz there's an emergency button that has like the fire logo on it. I was like, should we just hit that? Like when we were stuck, but we hit call first.
Danielle
So that's. So I think if you had.
Brooke
They did tell us to pull the alarm at one point. They were like, have you pulled the alarm? And we were like, no.
Danielle
They're like different than like, I need
Brooke
you to pull it. And there was like a knob that we pulled. Oh yeah, yeah.
Danielle
Is that different than the firefighter one or that is the firefighter one.
Brooke
That's different. I don't. There were so many buttons. I was like, wow.
Danielle
The fact that you were like, it's not an emergency, we'll do the call. Like I wouldn't have known what to do.
Brooke
Well, at first it happened so quick that we were only in there for probably like a minute before we did that. So I was like, if it's gonna be really embarrassing if the fire department shows up and like the door opens
Danielle
and you know, like, let's try this first. Yes. Like no one was injured. No one was.
Brooke
I didn't want to like.
Danielle
No, you're right.
Brooke
I was very nervous, but I was like, I do believe that the door could open. And.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
And it, you know, 10 minutes later it did. So. And it did like, what are the my. And then I told my dad about it and he was like, yeah, like back in the day, like he was like, when we would rescue people from.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
Elevators, they would put a ladder, I guess to. Because usually it's stuck in between floors. So then you put like a ladder.
Danielle
So you get out in the elevator,
Brooke
I guess, so you can crawl to like you go on the top elevator to get out in that little space on the top. And he was like, it's hard because like there's elderly people, there's people who are like not fit. Like, there's people who. I was like, wow, that's so crazy. I know. Anyways. Yeah.
Danielle
Wow.
Brooke
And that was so. That was me. I. I got second elevator.
Danielle
How about panicking recently? Yeah, I know you'll be panicking.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Well, I forgot to tell you about my mom's birthday party. It was a while back now, but my. I hosted my mom's 60th birthday, which was so fun. It went off without a hitch. It was so funny though. This was like. I had to share this with you. You. My mom and I went shopping because she made the theme blue, which was so cute and because her birthstone is aquamarine. And we just thought it'd be fun. Anyways, we're shopping for it. She wants to find a dress and she wants to find a pair of heels and make it fun. And so then we're done. She's found the dress, she's found the shoes. We're leaving Nordstrom. The Nordstrom shoe section. We'll get you. It's a really good one. And she was like. And also, mind you, early in the day I said something about, something about the party. And she was like, I don't want it to be like a wedding. Like this is turning in because we got a dj, we got food, catering. She was like, I want to be like a wedding. I was like, it's not going to, but haha. Okay. So as we're in the Nordstrom shoe section, she sees these like light blue. I think they were Sam Edelman flip flops or Jeffrey Campbell something. And she was like, what if I did a shoe change? I'm like, oh, this isn't a wedding. And so she bought light blue flip flops to change into towards the end of the party.
Brooke
How cute. That's so sweet. It was no outfit changes. The shoe change.
Danielle
No outfit changes.
Brooke
That's being prepared.
Danielle
That was. I just thought it was so cute and it was just so fun to throw a party.
Brooke
It looks like you did a great job. Like, how did you even know?
Danielle
Like, I, I mean, it was really. I mean, I had her friends help with the flowers because I'm not good at floral rangers. That is something that I would like to learn how to do is like going to even just Trader Joe's and being like this would go well with this and like, you know, I want
Brooke
to know how to it and this is really simple. I, I like, I understand that concept more. So like opening the flowers up to make them look pretty. Like with roses, like are you supposed to cut off the leaves or not like styling of the flowers.
Danielle
Exactly. I know because if you cut all the leaves off it looks weird.
Brooke
And sometimes like I open the flower a little bit but then it like dies sooner. So I'm like trying to figure out, you know what I'm saying?
Danielle
I didn't know about opening the flowers. People opening up their flowers.
Brooke
I started to and it makes them look ten times bigger. Bigger. Like, like you get like these roses and I watch someone.
Danielle
Do you like pry them open?
Brooke
So I pry it open, then you flip it upside down and you rub it between your hands.
Danielle
So you've seen people do this?
Brooke
I saw someone do this and now I started.
Danielle
Half the time I'm like, is this like the thing you made up?
Brooke
No.
Danielle
Like you're opening up tulips and like because tulips are always closed up at
Brooke
first I don't, I'm not familiar with. So just personally. Yeah, it's only a trick I've done with roses but it makes them like enormous.
Danielle
Like I feel like they're like these, they are little.
Brooke
So I don't know. I, I'll look it up but maybe they die. I. I'm trying to figure that out as well.
Danielle
One, no, 100%.
Brooke
You're there, you're there, you're there.
Danielle
Yeah. No, but it was good. I just like wanted to give an update cuz I feel like I made it a big thing and it was just so fun and she had the best night ever and it's just so fun. Like and now you're like planning a party for match day and I can't wait to see what you do for that.
Brooke
Party planning is fun it and stressful and fun. I don't know. Do you do like, do you find it more stressful or fun?
Danielle
I started to get stressed because like I, I made a particle. Oh my God, that was so funny. None of her friends.
Brooke
No, that's. It's not really a. I don't think the demographic for.
Danielle
But it worked out because we ended up having to send a few text blasts about like parking and like the dress code and stuff like that. And my mom was like, I can't text everyone again. I was like, no text blast. It's easy, very easy. But so many. I'm getting so Many, like, texts from people. Like, I couldn't figure out how to add my husband, but like, he is coming, you know?
Brooke
Ye.
Danielle
But it was funny. Cause I guess we're so used to partiful now. But the fam. The peeps that my mom was inviting, they had no idea. Oh, but the reason I wanted to talk about the flip flops. But also fun party tip to be the life of the party at weddings. Stuff like this. One of my moms had. One of my moms. One of my mom's friends had like a shawl. A shawl. The shawl.
Brooke
Love a shawl. Yes.
Danielle
And her and her husband came out and they made it a limbo stick.
Brooke
Oh, that's fun.
Danielle
How fun is that?
Brooke
So fun. I just know that they're like a fun couple.
Danielle
They were.
Brooke
Oh, my God.
Danielle
They're like this Colombian couple. They're dancing everywhere. They were awesome.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
But I literally said to her, I was like, I'm doing this at the next wedding that I bring a show to because, I mean, it has to like be the right vibe a little bit later in the night.
Brooke
Not. Not the slow dance.
Danielle
Not the slow dance. But like, I think that would. I mean, maybe it was just the group we were with, but I feel like that would kind of go.
Brooke
I loved it.
Danielle
And then you're just like life of the party and your boyfriend or you and your friend just like started. And it's like cute and fun and everyone's limboing.
Brooke
I think it's so fun.
Danielle
Yeah. So fun. Little party hack. If you want to be the life of the party or get the party going, maybe bring like a scarf, a shawl, something like that. You could even use your boyfriend's or husband's tie. Tie or blazer. I mean, you could use anything at the end of the day. You could use. No, not a napkin. Napkins.
Brooke
Not beginner.
Danielle
But I thought it was a cute thing and I wanted to share that.
Brooke
What did the men wear? Like, suits, socks? Like, was it formal?
Danielle
No, when I said dress code, I meant we had forgot to send a theme.
Brooke
Got it.
Danielle
No, no, blue. Yeah, just blue. We were like, it could be blue jeans. It could be blue. Just something blue. Yeah, Something blue. Something blue. Something borrowed. It was a wedding.
Brooke
She deserves to be celebrated.
Danielle
It was so.
Brooke
She looked so happy in the video. Yeah, it was really so sweet.
Danielle
And I. It was nice. And I surprised her with matchboxes I like. Oh, that's made match books that said peaceful. Michelle established like, her birthday. It was a nice touch.
Brooke
I think it's a nice touch.
Danielle
I like a little something, but that people can actually use. You can bring those matchbooks to your bathroom. You know, we talked about this a couple weeks ago now on the podcast.
Brooke
Yes.
Danielle
So.
Brooke
So yeah, yeah, yeah. Should we hit some of these advice questions? Right? You guys on Instagram @galsonthegopodcast. Sometimes we post on our story. We ask you for advice, we ask you to get involved. We ask you to send a little voicemail. So if you want to be involved, you gotta follow us. You gotta follow us to get with it.
Danielle
You really do. Like, I'm sorry, that's just the first people to find out things.
Brooke
Yeah, it's all there. It's a good follow.
Danielle
It is a good follow. We're not gonna pester you with content. It's just all.
Brooke
And then every Friday, what we've been doing is like, if we mention something on the podcast, like, we get a lot of questions like, oh my gosh, what it was that restaurant you mentioned. We will put it in a post that we're going to post every Friday. So the episode goes up Wednesday, the fall, the two days later that Friday, a post will go up. So if you have a question, you
Danielle
just have to refer back to yes. Or if like it's like a photo we want to refer to, like, oh, this is the table, or these are the stained sheets from Brooke's bed or whatever it is. Like, things we refer to. That's in the Friday dump. I love them. Brooke loves them. They are so much fun. So that's just a great follow for, for its own thing.
Brooke
I'm so over it with like these miracle products, like the quick fixes, like the things that they're like, oh my gosh, you can transform in a week or 30 days. Overnight results. Like, like, cut the B.S. okay, I'm so, like over that because I have learned, if I've learned anything these past few years with like my workout routines and like my health journey and things like that is that good things take time and like patience, which I'm learning is really, really important. And that's why neutrful is truly it, guys. It stands out. It's not about the hype. It's about committing to a simple daily routine that supports hair health from within. Danielle
It is.
Brooke
It is. We have our, our whole community over there. Oh, my gosh. Let's just start strong for Danielle. What settings on camera for recording vids using iPhone. Your videos do look crisp. They look crisp and clear.
Danielle
I feel like you have the same settings as me, probably, but people, I was helping one of the influencer girlies on this brand trip a couple weeks ago. She was on HD 30. I was like, girlfriend, we gotta up that. You need to have it on the top left corner of your video. You need to have it 4k res 60fps.
Brooke
That's like 60 frames is.
Danielle
Yeah, yeah, frames per second. And that's all I do, right? Like just those top two things on the left. But so because it like it just moves faster with you, it's not as glitchy, it's not as slow. Oh, turn HDR off.
Brooke
Yes.
Danielle
Oh, I get so upset when someone's like, I took a video of you and they sent it to me as hdr. I'm like, it just makes it like gray. I don't even know why HDR exists.
Brooke
Maybe for Real photo buffs like photo.
Danielle
But yeah, maybe I'm not, I don't know how to use it but 4k60 for video. So yeah, that's what you're asking.
Brooke
So do you record? This is a good question. Somewhat biz related. If you're filming a Tick Tock or just a short form video these days, do you film in app or out of app?
Danielle
Depends. Like I feel like if it's just like you're throwing it up like a quick like talking video, I'll just do it in the app. What about you?
Brooke
I've been filming most out of the
Danielle
app out of the app.
Brooke
But that's just because I have been liking editing on the computer more. It's a little faster for me.
Danielle
Love a computer moment.
Brooke
And I just, I, I think I like the export settings a little better. It's a little easier to put on both platforms.
Danielle
Yeah, no, it's more like friendly for both. Like yeah, but, but if it's like on Tick tock and it's like a sound or a song, of course I'll use it and then save it and then put on Instagram because I don't know how to like film with the sound on Instagram. Really? No, I don't think it's not very user friendly if there. I'm sure there is a way. Yeah, I just don't know. Shorts or. Yeah, yeah, that just goes out. But I mean mostly off. I mean out of app. It's better quality, right?
Brooke
Yeah, that's how I feel. But I don't know, I feel like then sometimes it compresses it when I post it.
Danielle
I know. And you have to. Well also if you're editing on cap cut or in shot or anything export
Brooke
settings on there so you have to make sure then you flip it back to because it doesn't auto do 60 frames per second.
Danielle
Right. I learned that the hard way. I was like why does this look bad? It's because you're not exporting it the way you put it in. So you got to make sure the export settings are the same settings as what you recorded it in. Getting biz here.
Brooke
Yeah, the vids. But honestly, even if you're just using your phone for your personal content, like why not just have the settings on that make it the best quality possible.
Danielle
Like yeah, I built firmly on that for sure. I, I, you might have ignored this question, but I think it's kind of interesting how to bring up engagement with your boyfriend of 2.5 years. What would Mel say?
Brooke
I, well, Mel would Say, let them. But I actually just saw a TikTok of a girl and she's like, I don't care how awesome your boyfriend is. I don't care, you know, if he thinks that your princess, whatever. Like, you, like, if you want things done a certain way, like, you need to bring it up.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
And I. That's how I operate. But I also, I have no ring on my finger, so I don't know. Goodbye.
Danielle
I think it's so fair to be like, you know, we've been dating two and a half years. Like, I see. I just want to let you know, like, where my head's at. I think that's a really easy way to like, be like, this is where I'm at. Just, you know, know you can think on this, whatever. But I just want you to know, like, I'm. I'm starting to feel ready. I'm starting to get excited about that next chapter and if they want to share that with you. Sure. I. I'm the same way. Like, why would you hide it? Like, you're dating, you're in a relationship, he likes you, he loves you.
Brooke
Yeah. I think it's also easy to bring it up in. I don't know if this is a great strategy, but in relation to other people in your life, if you're going to weddings, if your friends are getting engaged, I think it makes it a little easier to open up the conversation perhaps to be like, oh, you know, know, so and so got engaged. Like, you know, did you ever see him getting engaged at this age? Like, how do you feel about getting. Right. I feel like it just creates other situations, just deeper conversation in general.
Danielle
I like that. That's a good one. Yeah.
Brooke
Lots of good questions here.
Danielle
You guys having to deal with a tough situation with a friend at work, but not being mad at them as a friend. I always think about that because I have some friends who are like besties with their co workers. But I. From what I've seen from other people and even like, like Brooke and I, we have, like, sometimes we have differences in what we want to do work wise. And it's just like, we just know it's different. Like, it's not about Brooke is a person, me as a person, or our friendship. It's literally like, oh, well, I don't think we should do it that way. Okay. I. Okay, like, we'll compromise there or whatever. Like, you kind of do have to have those hard conversations because if you don't, the resentment will build up and then it will affect your friendship.
Brooke
I agree. I feel like it just gets tricky when it's like a power dynamic. Like, if you're best friends with your boss or something like that, where it's, like, weird. Weird. It's a lot easier when you're like, two people. Like, you know.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
So we're like. But. But it still is uncomfortable. That's also why, like, I don't want to say, like, don't be best friends with your co workers, but, like, have a life outside of your co workers. If I can definitely do any.
Danielle
Like, that's so true.
Brooke
Please, please have a life outside because. And even if you love your job so so much, like, you might switch jobs one day, like, and then. And I'm sure you're gonna keep up with these friendships. Don't get me wrong. But, like, some you probably won't. I. I just.
Danielle
From what I've seen, you can attest.
Brooke
I can attest to test. I feel like when I moved to Boston, I just, like, was like, I'm just only gonna be friends with more people. And then I, like, quit my job and I had no friends. It's gonna be so real.
Danielle
Like, well, because it was a new city and that's the only people you had met. But looking back, you're like, oh, I wish I. Yeah. Yeah.
Brooke
I mean, it all worked out. I'm not mad about any of the ways in which that all. No worries happened, but I just would encourage you to find. Yeah.
Danielle
Yeah. And one other thing I thought was, I've heard some of my friends do this, like, talking to a co worker that's also friend. Like, like, they'll literally say, like, as your friend, this is what I would say. As your boss, I'm going to say this. And it's just going to have to be that way, you know, like, literally, like, putting it out to them. Like, hey, as your coworker, I need to say this to you. So I thought that was kind of.
Brooke
I like that, too.
Danielle
Yeah. Even though.
Brooke
Yeah. Yeah.
Danielle
We're not in that.
Brooke
It's better to, like, talk about it than to not. Like, you don't. Yeah. Don't sweep things under the rug. I like that.
Danielle
No, you're working together.
Brooke
Good. Yeah. Accutane T Tips. I started this past weekend. I'm so nervous, but excited to see results.
Danielle
I mean, hydrate and moisturize.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
That's for my experience, at least.
Brooke
Yeah. That was mine, too. I felt like I was chronically probably, like, I remember, like, even workout classes and stuff, feeling, like, dehydrated. And now Looking back, I'm like, oh, my God, my stamina was so low. And, like, that makes sense. And I never even, like, made the connection of why. Like, duh.
Danielle
No, it's. You just have to, like, stay really on top of it. Like. Like, I feel like we both had very good experiences.
Brooke
I mean, there's a dark period.
Danielle
Yeah. Be prepared to, like, hate your skin for a second. I'm not even gonna lie.
Brooke
They say that there's a purge. Like, there's definitely that.
Danielle
Pierce.
Brooke
I think it's, like, when it's, like, two to three months in pretty much, like, the first month, I feel like it's not, like, cranked up enough.
Danielle
No.
Brooke
Like, you know, month, two, three, maybe even four, whatever it is. And it's gonna get really bad, and you're gonna say, I want to quit. Because everybody gets to that point. You're like, what's the point of this? This is so stupid. I feel like people. Even my comments, they were like, what is this medication doing to you?
Danielle
Yeah. Like, don't you regret it?
Brooke
And then there we go.
Danielle
I mean, like, it's an amazing drug, honestly.
Brooke
Like, it really is. It.
Danielle
It's. And also, I'm sure you probably took this into account of, like, the timing. Like, definitely be aware of, like, the timing in your life when you're doing it. And, like Brooke said, like, just don't give up when it gets that purge period. And also, don't, like, pick your face. Don't pop those pimples when they're happening. And just let it happen, happen. Just let it happen. Be prepared to wear some more hats or not go out as much if that. But not that you should do that, but if that would make you feel better to kind of lay low.
Brooke
Yeah, it was nice doing it in the way I did it, like, last winter, and it was a terrible winter, but, like, it was. That was the best time for me to do it because, yeah, the summer, it was like a caterpillar turns into a butterfly.
Danielle
Oh, it really was cute.
Brooke
Yeah. And then hydrate. What else?
Danielle
Hydrate and moisturize. Those are the biggest things.
Brooke
I feel like that's really.
Danielle
You get really dry. Like the Clinique Moisture Surge set. I mean, now there's so much skin care. I did this in high school. But the Clinique Moisture Surge Day and then the Moisture Moisture Surge Night saved my life. Like, my. Because your skin just gets so dry. So you just stay on top of being moisturized and hydrated, and it'll be a pretty good experience.
Brooke
And your Lips, obviously. Don't use anything harsh on your skin.
Danielle
I, like, still.
Brooke
I'm like, I'm slowly introducing, like, harsh things back into my. Not harsh, but, like, stripping. Like. Like, even retinols. And, like, I'm still being very careful with integrating things back into my routine. Because your skin's in such a vulnerable.
Danielle
I know. It's like, in this.
Brooke
Yeah. In between.
Danielle
Period.
Brooke
Yeah. Are we going to Japan together? This is an advice, but I feel like we've said it, like, because people were asking me. They're like, why are you not going to Japan with, like, Danielle and Katie? I thought that we said it, though.
Danielle
Say it again. I guess we definitely have said.
Brooke
I feel like we have said it. I was getting a lot of questions. Who are we going to Japan with? I'm like, I'm only going with my boyfriend. We have different schedules, like, quite frankly, like, and it was just a different desired trip length, different desired trip length,
Danielle
different activities, different budgets, different everything.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Like, this is Brooke and Ben's big, big trip for the next couple, like, years, probably.
Brooke
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Danielle
Like, this is the big daddy trip. So that's a big deal. And I did want to go to Coachella. I do want to see Justin Bieber. So I was, like, not sure because, like, you're gonna be kind of going around that time. But I also was like, I. Like, Ryan and I were like, we really want to go with someone else. And then so I mentioned to Katie and she was like, oh, my God. Because we had mentioned to her.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
And she had expressed interest. I was like, oh, maybe Katie could go with us. And so it.
Brooke
And you guys wanted. Both wanted to go for, like, we, like, yeah.
Danielle
We're only going for seven days. You're going for two weeks, right?
Brooke
Yeah, 14 days.
Danielle
Yeah. Yeah. So it's just there was, like, a lot of. And the time.
Brooke
It was really the timing, and I can't be flexible.
Danielle
It was very specific. Like, I got this. And we were like, oh, oh, I don't know. Yeah, I can do that.
Brooke
No. And that's how it be sometimes. It would have been so fun if we could have all gone together, obviously, and whatnot. But, you know, I'll pass along my tips.
Danielle
No, hey, I'm. I'm selfishly excited. I get all the tips, so.
Brooke
But you guys are gonna have so much fun. I feel like it's gonna be such a good. A good group.
Danielle
How to deal with never having anyone show romantic interest in you. Well, this isn't true. You just have to keep putting Yourself out there and meeting people. I feel like people always, like, no one's gonna like me. No one. But I really, I really genuinely feel like it's just like the more experienced, the more closer you get to your love. I mean, you went on so many dates.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Before Ben.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
So many.
Brooke
Yeah, I definitely did. And I don't regret it. I really don't regret. I mean, like in the, you know, like I for someone else is right completely. But it was part of my story. Building experience and like, got me to where I am, so.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
100.
Brooke
I feel like you just have to. To. I. I feel like I wish that I embraced every era of my life. I said this about like my living alone era that I like. I. And I did romanticize and relish it. But like, relish in every single era of your life. Like, you know, single error, be like, I'm single. And like, I might not, you know, at this time next year, maybe I won't be like, so true.
Danielle
That kind of goes with this question. Someone said advice on not wanting to do things, but at the same time feeling that 20s are a time to say, yes, live life. I feel like both you and I have struggled with that so much. Like I. There were a lot. Like, I obviously loved college so much, but there were multiple times where I feel like I would stay in because I was tired and stuff. And like, I still feel like if you are literally exhausted and you're like, my social batteries are like, don't go. But there are certain things that like, I was so focused on, like YouTube, like my freshman year of college, like, I literally wanted to travel so much because I was like, I have more freedom and whatever. And I do regret that. I do wish I really, like got more into college in the freshman year and met more people freshman year. Like, it ended up really great. But I, I do regret that a little. But you also have to give yourself some grace because I wouldn't be where I am now if I didn't do that year that way for years.
Brooke
I feel like one of the most annoying things to shop for was bras and underwear. Because, like, I don't. When you're like in your 20s, like, where are you shopping for bras and underwear? Well, now we're all going to skims, obviously. But before skims existed, I was like, like, I don't even know where to go. Cuz I feel like you've got like your old school options and then you've got like the, the sexier things. But I'm Like, I need stuff for, like, practical every day. Like, I need, like, a good bra. I need, like, my good basic underwear. And I can tell you my entire underwear drawer has been transitioned now to skims. I have the Fits everybody seamless. So I do like the thong and then I have like the boy short for, like, nighttime and stuff. I love the bras, my everyday bra. And I have, like, you know, a larger chest. This is something that it's very, very important to me is the fits everybody T shirt bra. I. I can't have a bra that digs into my skin or that's uncomfortable, that I constantly have to adjust it. Like, no, this is the great everyday bra. If you have a larger chest, if you have a smaller chest, no matter what the size is, this is going to lift and look great without being like, oh, my God, her boobs are like, you know, it's not too much. I will tell you. It's like the perfect amount of lift and everything, but also comfort. I feel like I'm not like, running home at the end of the day. Like, I got to take my bra off. Like, no, it's just like this. It is a. This is an extension of me at this point. Okay. So seamless. So supportive. You guys are gonna love it. The underwear is amazing. I. I feel so. I'll say it. I feel so sexy when I'm wearing a cute little set from Skims. We obviously love the T shirts. We love the amazing, like, collabs with that they do with different brands. I'm constantly purchasing from Skims. I love getting their shapewear when I have, like, an event and, you know, any need to look a little snatched underneath, you know, my dress or whatever it is. We love Skim so much, and I know that Danielle and I are just like, so excited when we get the opportunity to do podcast reads for them. We love Skims. Okay, so you can shop all of our favorite bras and underwear@skims.com after you place your order, be sure to let them know that we sent you. Select podcast in the survey and be sure to select our show gals on the go in the drop down menu that follows dollars. We love Skims.
Danielle
I think it's more so, like, what fills your cup? Like, if it's not gonna fill your cup, like, you don't have to go just because you're in your 20s, you
Brooke
know, that's a, that's a good question. And it's like, it might take a second to, like, identify what fills your cup. Yeah, yeah, I, I feel like, it swings back and forth. Because sometimes I'm like, oh, God, I love staying in. But then I, like, look at my. Like, oh, my God, do I have enough friends? Like, I think everybody deals with yes, 100. You always want what you can have.
Danielle
No, I know. And, like, I feel like I'm definitely, like. Like, I mean, both of us, when we first moved to New York, we were going out every weekend. It's like, what are we doing Thursday, Friday, Saturday? Like, yeah, boom, boom, boom. And now, like, literally, I've had people ask me. I'm sure you two, like, oh, where are your favorite places to go out?
Brooke
I don't know. I literally don't know what to say. I mean, I say, like, where I go to concerts. Like, that's what I said. But, like, a concert venue isn't always, like, a. Right.
Danielle
No, I literally say comedy seller.
Brooke
I'm like, I love comedy seller. That's a good answer. Like, I feel like, what we. But that's.
Danielle
They want the bar. Yeah. That's my truth. Yeah, I know, but I. But then I. I still grapple with this. Like, I am 27, and, like, when I'm in my 30s, like, maybe I won't be doing this. Like, should I be doing this now? But also, like, I don't want to. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. It's.
Brooke
I had this thought recently about, like, the, like, the scene of New York. People always ask about, like, yes, like, the. The clubs and the this and the that. And. Well, you'll meet people who are super sceney, I guess.
Danielle
Like, right. They, like, know.
Brooke
They know all the spots. And I'm like, wow, am I a loser? Like, it makes you. Like. And I'm like, no, because honestly, I think I would rather be with my boyfriend. Like, if that sounds bad, like, I don't know, sue me. Like, But I. I think I would rather be with my boyfriend than, like, be at these random, like, rogue clubs with, like, people that I don't really know, if I'm being honest.
Danielle
Especially those clubs where they're like, you can get in.
Brooke
You can't.
Danielle
Like, I don't want to feel, like, totally.
Brooke
And I don't need to, like, stand at some random guy's table to, like, get a free drink. Like, I. I feel really blessed that, like. Like, I've created such a life for myself that I don't need to do that.
Danielle
I don't need to do that. And that's a fun, thrilling time of life.
Brooke
I love that time.
Danielle
Passed it. I did. I Don't know if you saw my close. I just got into Shay Margot.
Brooke
Yes.
Danielle
And we have to go. That's like my new era. I enjoy like a long dinner. I enjoy a long dinner when it's like, we're like drinking and like having fun, like, and that's the perfect spot for it. And it's still like, you're seeing people and then it turns into a bit of a party. But that, that's so that's why I joined. Cuz I was like, that'll be like an easy thing for me to go do. Be social and then go home obsessed. So we'll have to go. It's really cool.
Brooke
It's great.
Danielle
I know. But I, I literally don't ask Brooke and I where. Where to go out in New York. I had girls, like on New Year's, like, where should we go?
Brooke
I'm like, literally, don't ask. I know. Or people somewhere people are asking me, like, I'm having a party next week.
Danielle
They're.
Brooke
Are we going out after? I was like, no, I'm having a. A party.
Danielle
That's so true. It's like, no, that's like.
Brooke
I was like, no, I'm. It's a party. Like, what do you mean?
Danielle
Like, no, I know.
Brooke
Literally it.
Danielle
Like, literally it. Yeah. I don't know. I'm just like, not there. But a lot, a lot of people in my life still are, though. They're not. Even if their relationships are not. They're very much so. Like, okay, like, what are our plans this weekend? Like, where do you guys want it? I'm like, we're still doing this.
Brooke
I feel like I want to not. So that's why I feel better about it. But I understand what you're saying. Like, I don't feel like I'm constantly declined. I'm not declining plans.
Danielle
Yeah, I'll say that. So also, if you think about it, most of Ben's friends are also in medical school, so.
Brooke
True. True.
Danielle
Ryan's friends, I mean, they're awesome, but they have. They, you know, they're. They're doing all kinds of things, but they're still like, what are we doing? You know, and it's just so. And it is fun to go be social and do things. I think. I don't know. Clearly I have a lot to say about this topic because sometimes I do want to go out, but other times I don't. I don't feel guilty about it.
Brooke
And you could do both. Some months are different than others. Right now it's beautiful weather. Maybe I'll be hitting the streets. I don't know.
Danielle
Maybe you'll see Brooke on the streets with an apparel spritz. Who knows? Watch out, world.
Brooke
Oh, my God. That's really funny.
Danielle
This is. This is funny to me because, like, I don't even know what we'd say. Any tips on growing as a content creator?
Brooke
Send them if you have them.
Danielle
No, literally, I. I don't know. One thing about Brooke and I, we just gonna be consistent.
Brooke
One thing about me and Danielle is that our audience is all reliable.
Danielle
You guys are real for that. Like, we don't. Like, also, it's just like, the content that we create. Like, if we just randomly try all these new things, like, you guys won't like it. Like, we have followers that have grown with us. Like you and Katie were saying a couple weeks ago, like, you have your demographic and it just gets older with you, which we're really grateful for. But I think, like, the biggest thing I would say and, like, because I think about when I'm consuming content, when someone shows personality and I think they're funny. And then they also have cute outfits or whatever it might be, they've got two things. I'm like, I'm interested in your life. Like, you have to get me interested in your life. Like, if you just make, like, a good video, I'm not gonna follow. Like, I want to be interested in you as a person, your personality, what you have to offer me to get my follow.
Brooke
I agree. And actually. Which I need to take my own advice here, but I feel like it's. If it's not just like. Let's just say, like the one video, I go to their page and not that their content all has to be in that style. I actually prefer if it's, you know,
Danielle
a mix, like, variety.
Brooke
But if I watch their other videos and they're not hitting the way that that one hit, like, true. Or if they, like, it's just. That was a off video. Right.
Danielle
Kind of, like, have an overall, like, aesthetic in a way. Like, not aesthetic or just be vibe.
Brooke
Yeah. Like, if you're per. Like, if you're, you know, being silly, quirky, and then like, in another video, you're like, you're. I don't know, like, playing music and just showing your outfit. Like, I'm just like, wait, these are two different creators, right? But I guess I kind of do that. So I'm trying to think about how.
Danielle
No, I. I totally do that too. But, like, you just have to have a good balance. Like, it can't Just be like, it needs to be like, oh, every other video. Okay. So she shows her outfits and then she shows her cooking. Or like, there needs to be an easy. Like, my manager always talks about, like, your 9 grid. Like, when you open up the Instagram, the first, like, nine photos you see, it's like. Like, for me, she'll tell me, like, because I'm trying to do more, like, sports stuff and like, fashion and then, like, lifestyle. She's like, there needs to always be something of each of those in your nine grid.
Brooke
Oh, that's great.
Danielle
Right? So interesting. I don't. I definitely don't have anything sports on my 9 grid right now, but, you know, it's a good way to think about it. Like, on those first nine things on your tick tock. I don't know how I'm me. It's when you open tick tock.
Brooke
But, like, my tick tock's a mess.
Danielle
Yeah. Or pinning. I. I definitely like a good pin.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
I'll pin a couple things at the top if I feel like it really is something I'm proud of or something
Brooke
related to the season of life you're in. Like, it's like, hey, this is very relevant to the time or.
Danielle
Yeah. And I don't think you necessarily have to pin, like, your most popular video.
Brooke
No. No.
Danielle
Because sometimes those are, like, random. Like, those don't actually, like, pin the things that you're, like, really proud of or you think really explain who you are are, because it makes it easier for people to look. But no, I. I don't know. I don't grow fast. So I.
Brooke
But I don't know if, like, like, our strategy is growing fast because we want people to really follow us.
Danielle
It's not.
Brooke
It's like, I don't. I would love for the people who follow us to, like, you know, know about our podcast and everything else too, and not just be like, if someone follows me and they're like, wait, you have a podcast? I would be kind of offended.
Danielle
Like, how do you not know that's so true.
Brooke
We.
Danielle
We like a 360 approach here.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Very holistic.
Brooke
Realistic. Yes. Yes. Wow, that. That is so funny that we are still getting that question, but it does
Danielle
make sense because, I mean, I'm honored.
Brooke
Also. Don't. How about this? Like, maybe, like, the goal isn't to grow. Like, the goal is just to produce good content. Like. Yeah, the goal is to, like.
Danielle
Yeah, like, if you're wanting to grow, to, like, make money, totally get it. But, like, that's not Gonna work.
Brooke
Or how about like, find ways to monetize and at the size that you currently are.
Danielle
Ugc, like, like brands pay content creators to create amazing videos and then they post it on their. Or no, sorry, you post it. But like, they're paying for. No, no, ugc, they're posting it on their account. Like the brand is posting this. Yes. Yes. Okay. That's what I started.
Brooke
What do you mean? Like, I sent, I sent them a video of like, what? And then they run it as an ad. Yeah, I did like, Stanley, I don't know if I should. I don't think it's in a con. Like, whatever. I literally did content for them. Like, I never saw it. I sent, you know, I filmed it in completed, edited. Yeah, I don't, I haven't seen it. If anyone has seen it run as an ad, please let me know. Like, I don't know where it is.
Danielle
That. And that's a cool thing. There's, there's a lot of really cool opportunities or like, if you just love creating content. There's so many people that like work as a content creator for. I mean, obviously there's weddings, but also like people hire content creators for brand events and that's a good way to get your foot in the door. And then you can make videos about day in the life as a content creator for blah, blah. Or you know, they're. There's lots.
Brooke
I just, I don't think that you have to go into it. Like, I have to grow. I have to grow because growing is not the only way to make money or to get opportunities or to what? Like, I mean, people who have 5, 000 followers are getting like, opportunities just because their content's good. Like, I would say focus on like the content first and engaging. Yes.
Danielle
Like having an engaged, engaged audience.
Brooke
Yes, totally.
Danielle
Hello. These are some good questions.
Brooke
Yeah, no, there are some really good questions here.
Danielle
How do you handle last minute minute plan changes? I struggle with change, but want to be better.
Brooke
I feel like, Danielle, you are.
Danielle
You're living this, Living la vida. Yeah. Now you kind of just have to giggle sometimes. You're like, what do they say? You plan God.
Brooke
Oh, yeah. Man plans.
Danielle
Man plans. God laughs Like, I, I even like, I've had like flight delays and stuff like that. And I'm just like, there is a reason, there is a reason that I'm not supposed to be on that plane right now. There is a reason I'm sitting in this airport. It could be you're about to meet somebody or have this conversation you wouldn't have or call someone that you wouldn't have because you were waiting for the plane. Like, I'm getting better at it because it's so easy to stick to those things you're used to. But also, as you grow up, like, things just naturally change. And there's also good change. Like, I think about college or high school even, I'm like, oh, my God, I loved it. But also there were things that I hated about it. Like, I don't miss homework.
Brooke
I don't, you know, waking up at the crack of dawn and, yeah, putting on makeup.
Danielle
We were dreaming of where we are now. So, yeah, you have to think about it like that. I don't know. I feel like you're really good at
Brooke
being like, yeah, I've gotten way more type B as the years have gone on. I really have that realization about myself. And I think it's just maturity and growth. Like, there's not one thing or one realization I had. I feel like it's just time that kind of passes. And, yeah, I. As much as I am like a panicker and stuff, like, I. I really have realized that Moshe's just not too deep. Like, unless it is really deep. And then like, yeah, your life is moving around and whatever. But, like, sometimes plans change and like, yeah, you gotta just be like, okay,
Danielle
like, yeah, like, you can. You can like, go punch a pillow or something for a sec, be mad, and then just be like, all right, how can I adapt? Because now it's changed. Like, it's not something you can change back typically, or it's just not working out. Okay, we can cut this if it's like, I don't know, but I think this is an interesting topic. Picked out my dream ring, but it was over budget. Thoughts on helping pay for it?
Brooke
No, I think we should leave this in. I think it's a really interesting debate and I think it's a really interesting topic. I confession I'm nosy. A lot of our influencer friends, I asked them this. Yeah, I have. And they probably are like that. Bookmarking.
Danielle
No, she's always gotta know. They could choose to not answer.
Brooke
No. And I'm like, you can. I was like, I don't know if this is too much, but I also don't ask it to, like, strangers. You know what I mean?
Danielle
No, but I do have to close page.
Brooke
And I actually. I didn't even tell you this. I went on a second look with Ben to like, one of these med
Danielle
school, like, second looks.
Brooke
So basically, like, he. He toured A bunch of. He got interviews at med schools. And then, like, we did the second looks. I think I explained that.
Danielle
Right.
Brooke
Like, it's like a tour plus, like, a visit, whatever. So one of them, we went on, and I got to meet all the, like, other, like, med spouses. Whatever. Yes. And I met one girl who. She was. She was like, oh, my fiance. My fiance. She kept saying fiance. And then she was like, she. I was like, oh, that's awesome. Like, when's your wedding? You know, just talking to her about it. Then I was like, wow. I. You know, I think we're, you know, we'll get engaged soon. But, like, it's just, you know, it's hard. He doesn't, like, have an income right now. Whatever. I shared that, honestly. And she was like, oh, oh, no. I. I paid for half the ring. And she just said that, like, candidly. And I was. I literally said, thank you so much for saying that.
Danielle
Like, for being honest. Yeah, yeah.
Brooke
Like, truly. Because not that you have to walk around with the tag on that says,
Danielle
I paid for having, like. No, let me set it to you straight.
Brooke
And it just goes to show that there's no right or wrong situation. Everyone's situation is different. There's not. I don't. I don't think you can have a superiority complex of, like, I did or I didn't, or, like, I don't think there's right or wrong. It's your situation.
Danielle
Yeah. And I'm also learning, like, some people, it's like, I don't want to see the ring before I want him. Him or her to totally pick it out. Whatever. Other people want to be more involved because it is something you literally wear every day. Some people want to know the exact. They want to be exact. They want to be so exact. And I don't. I don't hate the idea of paying for your ring, especially if it's, like. If I can just pitch in a certain amount to get, like, that specific. Why not? Literally, you're wearing it every single day.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
And I think as long as it's. I mean, again, everyone's different, but as long as it's something that you guys are talking about together and. And it's. You want it to be special. I feel like everyone wants it to be special. So as long as it's.
Brooke
That it's. It's everyone's cup, like, journey on that is different, I feel like. And, like, thoughts around it as a couple, and I think it's an important conversation to have together, to kind of Be like, like, I'll be honest. Like, we had the conversation about it and it was kind of like, no, I don't want you to pay for it, like, to contribute. And like, for me, that. But then that also means like sacrificing, like something of the things that I probably want.
Danielle
Right.
Brooke
But it's on the concept that, you know, like, it's with. It's with. It's a hundred percent. It's not a surprise, but like, kind of like.
Danielle
Yeah, sort of idea. Totally. It's like, I'll take care of it.
Brooke
And I don't think that there's right or wrong. I see both sides. I really could. I could see an argument for either. And I don't think there's one that's right or wrong.
Danielle
No, I. And that's a really good example you made of that conversation you had. It's so true. It's like, who cares?
Brooke
No, And a lot of people. People do.
Danielle
Yeah. A lot.
Brooke
A lot of people do. Yeah.
Danielle
Well, should we end it on that?
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Thank you guys so much for listening or watching on YouTube to gals in the go podcast. We love you guys. We're just so grateful every day that you guys consistently come back every week to listen and hang out with us.

Brooke

GALS ON THE GO — “Elevator Panic, Premonitions & Wondering If We Have Enough Friends…”
Podcast by Dear Media
Hosts: Brooke Miccio & Danielle Carolan
Date: March 18, 2026
This episode is a classic “advice and catch-up” session with best friends and co-hosts Brooke and Danielle. In their candid, always-relatable style, the Gals unpack everyday dilemmas—from social anxieties and elevator mishaps, to beauty trends, party hacks, and the pressure to maximize your 20s. They dive into listener advice questions spanning relationships, friendships, content creation, and navigating life’s ever-present FOMO. The episode blends lighthearted stories—like getting stuck in an elevator (panic level: RED ALERT!)—with insightful debates on topics like engagement expectations and self-worth in your single era. It’s hilarious, comforting, and full of “you’re not alone” moments.
Spring Weather & Mood: Brooke and Danielle revel in the NYC “false spring,” sharing their perfect temperatures (Brooke: 70°F, Danielle: mid-60s) and the joy of city walks with coffee and podcasts.
Memorable Moment: “70 makes me feel confident about leaving, like in a tank top or something.” (03:25)
AirPods Max Disappearance: The girls debate why AirPods Maxes seem to be going out of style, citing safety awareness and practicality.
“No one is wearing AirPod Maxes anymore. Have you noticed this?” (03:51, Danielle)
Wardrobe Refresh: Both are selling old clothes (on RealReal and Pickle) and discuss their love for rental services like Fashion Pass and Rent the Runway. Aritzia’s free personal styling service gets a rave review from Brooke.
“I spent a good amount of money, but everything is stuff that can be worn—and that’s what I like about Aritzia.” (11:48, Brooke)
Brooke’s Elevator Ordeal: Brooke shares how she and boyfriend Ben were stuck in an old elevator, confessing genuine panic and the hilariously inefficient 911-esque elevator help line.
“We bounced. I literally—my brain went to, like, we’re going to die in here.” (16:33, Brooke)

The Gals address a slew of listeners’ questions, keeping answers honest, practical, and peppered with personal anecdotes.

Feeling Like You Don’t Have Enough Friends/Missing Out: Normalize social phases; your “scene” doesn’t define your worth. “Some months are different than others. Right now it’s beautiful weather—maybe I’ll be hitting the streets, I don’t know.” (52:49, Brooke)
FOMO and the ‘Saying Yes’ Pressure: Find your “cup fillers”—not everything in your 20s has to be lived at full throttle. “If it’s not gonna fill your cup, you don’t have to go just because you’re in your 20s.” (49:26, Danielle)
Dealing with Change: Take plan shifts in stride. “Man plans, God laughs. There’s a reason I’m not supposed to be on that plane right now.” (58:08, Danielle)
On Social Media Burnout:
“I’m so over it with like these miracle products, like the quick fixes…” (33:55, Brooke)
On Panic Levels:
“If you want a RED ALERT, it’s pooping at a crush’s place.” (Referenced in ep description, not transcript, but the tone applies.)
On Partying & Growing Up:
“I don’t need to stand at some random guy’s table to get a free drink. I feel really blessed that I’ve created such a life for myself that I don’t need to do that.” (51:06, Brooke)
On Content Creation Mindset:
“Maybe the goal isn’t to grow. Maybe the goal is just to produce good content.” (56:16, Brooke)
