Danielle
Hey guys, what's up? Welcome back to Gals on the Go podcast.
Brooke
It's Brooke, Danielle and we have our moms here.
Danielle
Welcome Michelle and Adina to Gals on the Go together for the first time. The foursome.
Michelle
Definitely.
Brooke
You've only ever gotten to see it live in New York and Chicago, right? Those are the or. No, no, not Chicago.
Danielle
No they didn't.
Michelle
Chicago. Where have you.
Brooke
Was that other Texas?
Danielle
Philly?
Michelle
No, no, no.
Adina
I think we only did New York and no, no, no.
Michelle
Because Daddy and I went like we.
Danielle
Went to Tesha in Philly.
Michelle
I thought that was a Chicago. Whatever that was.
Brooke
Yeah. Who knows. But only a few select people have gotten to see the four of us together.
Adina
Yes.
Brooke
And we are so happy that you guys are here in the studio with us today. It's so funny. We were so setting up our mics and everything and my mom's like pulling the mic closer.
Adina
Yes, because I'm a soft talker.
Danielle
I love it. You should do like asmr though, and like audiobooks.
Adina
I do do that sometimes.
Michelle
You do voiceovers?
Adina
No, no, but like voice work, like.
Michelle
That would make sense for someone like you. The opposite of a deal.
Adina
Maybe I'll get my opportunity and then you.
Brooke
Medina.
Michelle
Oh, no, I joked around that the microphone actually. Yep. Close enough. Could be down the hall.
Danielle
There you go. We'll be good. Pick up something.
Michelle
It's usually once a day that daddy has to remind me that you're screaming. I think you are actually was this morning. In fact, I was in the bathroom talking to him and then I came out into the kitchen and I still had my same voice. He's like, it's like 7am and you're screaming.
Danielle
And I noticed it because she was taking calls from my apartment before this. And I mean, she was mobile on the phone though, like she was going for. And I was like, I don't even know what room she's in, but I hear everything, every little detail. Like it was so loud. You weren't even in the same room as me though. You were rooms over. Like, that's the way it is.
Adina
She's.
Brooke
So you're a walk and talker.
Michelle
Yes, if I can walk a dog. In fact, I'm thinking that I should have done that standing desk I was.
Brooke
Gonna suggest because I know you have that big beautiful desk at your house. But I'm like, do you even sit.
Michelle
Down thinking about really next upgrade? Well, you know, it's. And if you notice all the people that do those standing decks, they're all like really healthy and fit. Get a walking pad, like so maybe.
Danielle
And you have the home gym. You're really in your active era. Yeah, you are. My dad's like doing like a run. I don't think I told you this. This weekend. He's doing a six mile run this weekend.
Michelle
6.2. Yeah.
Brooke
Yeah.
Michelle
Yes. He's been training.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
What's. Is there like a cause?
Danielle
Yeah. So my town, it's called. I don't even know what the money is called.
Michelle
Harbor Day supports town and. No, no, I don't think it. That's so.
Brooke
I think ghost the town.
Danielle
Oh, that's so nice. It's like a, you know, forever. Like I remember going to like Cal Harbor Day when I was like in middle school and we would like, you.
Brooke
Know, go downtown and like hang out.
Michelle
Yeah. There's a parade. Like the next day there'll be a parade and there's like, you know, vendors set up.
Danielle
Hallmark town.
Michelle
Yeah. Like it really. It is wholesome vibes. Wholesome.
Brooke
Wait, that's so, so cute. I'm upset. Well, I'll be cheer. What day is it on? Saturday.
Michelle
So he runs on Saturday morning and then the parade and stuff.
Brooke
Next day, Sunday, I'll be cheering him on.
Adina
We wish him the best.
Michelle
Thank you.
Brooke
You said you've been trying to run.
Danielle
Oh, wait, I tried to run, Daniel. I, I, I was like, surely I could do a mile on the jump. I made it 3, 4 of a mile before my heart rate was 198, which as far as I know, it.
Adina
Shouldn'T be that good.
Danielle
They said it should be 2200 or something. Minus your A or 220 minus your age. I think that's what it is.
Brooke
Okay, so it's like right there.
Michelle
It's close enough. But daddy was alarmed when he said that. Oh, no, no, no, no. That's way too high.
Brooke
Yeah, I, yeah, I, I love that you're, you know, trying to take running to the next step though. Like, good for you.
Danielle
I like, like the idea. And I did good after. I did even that little spurt because you sweat so much and like, you do feel, you're like you're proud of yourself, you know, you're like, damn, I did that.
Michelle
No, I love it sounds better to say like, I went on a run versus I went on a walk.
Danielle
100.
Michelle
You say like you get on a walk and it' okay.
Brooke
Yeah.
Michelle
Eye roll.
Brooke
Yeah.
Michelle
You're like, whoa.
Brooke
Yeah, it's impressive.
Danielle
You're like, I just did a quick 10. I'm like, you should be talking about this more like.
Brooke
Yes. That is amazing.
Michelle
Can you put it on your shirt?
Brooke
Yeah, I never, I feel like you've never been around.
Michelle
No, no, no. You can't run when you, you can, but fun fact, multiple sports people. It's just not comfortable, I was sorry to say.
Brooke
Yeah, I don't like to, I don't know my excuse.
Michelle
Yeah, you've got, you've got.
Brooke
I don't know, I just don't enjoy it at all. I like, like when we would go to Orange Theory and stuff back in the day, those quick sprints. That's kind of fun.
Danielle
That's how I feel too. I like, yeah.
Brooke
The beat drop.
Danielle
Do a little.
Brooke
Yeah. On your errands.
Danielle
You could do kind of like spin where it's like, you know, like.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
And I have to say, when I was running next to, to other people on the treadmill, walking, I felt so superior. I was like, you're over here walking.
Michelle
I'm like.
Brooke
I know I could talk about that forever. Well, we're really excited that you guys are here, because obviously we've never done this. Mom's in town because she want to see Matthew McConaughey. Yes.
Adina
Yes.
Brooke
Did he say, all right, all right, all right?
Adina
He did one. All right.
Brooke
We were really manifesting that she would get to meet him. I know she brought something on the off chance she was.
Michelle
What do you mean, object?
Adina
Yeah, Something for him to sign. I brought something just to think, but I felt like I made eye contact because I was really close to him because the seats I had and stuff. And he, like, sat down on the edge of the theater at one point, read his poems, and then he had jbj, he called him, which is John Bon Jovi play music in the background. It was very cool. I think he was only doing Five Cities because he wrote, you know, and he's just. He's very soulful. It was interesting. He came out at the very beginning, and it kind of reminded me of you guys when he first started, because he goes. Kind of have to admit, I'm a little nervous, you know, And I see no matter how big you get, it's something to put yourself out there doing something different. And it was great.
Danielle
It was.
Adina
It was. He had great presence and, you know, good message and. Yeah, I enjoyed it.
Danielle
Does it for fun, too. I would imagine that he's very successful.
Adina
He doesn't need to do that.
Brooke
That's.
Adina
That's work of his soul. He's like.
Danielle
To give back.
Adina
Yeah, definitely.
Brooke
It's so funny, though, because when she called me, like, a month ago, she's like, what are you doing on September 16th? I was like, is there another hugger in town?
Michelle
No. You know, if.
Brooke
You know. You know, I thought she was back. And you're gonna go wait in line for a hug again?
Adina
Yes, I would do that again.
Brooke
Yeah.
Adina
I would have loved a hug from.
Brooke
From Matthew. Do you have celeb crush Adina, like.
Danielle
Or even a celeb that, like, you.
Brooke
Would like, like a hair.
Danielle
You would meet and be like, wow. I like. Yeah. Oh, you. You're into music.
Michelle
No. Yeah, it would be music. It would be someone like music like. It would be like John Mellencamp. I know. Or John Cougar as.
Brooke
Oh, is that Housewives adjacent stuff?
Michelle
Actually, it is.
Brooke
But that's not why you like him.
Michelle
Okay. Yes. The fun fact. And this is. This is actually a good fun fact. If you had to, like, go around a room and tell a fun fact. The fun fact with John Mellencamp is that Sal and I were big fans when we were in high school because, you know, we're high school sweethearts and that whole thing. And when we were planning our wedding. Now, you have to understand, this was 1992, right? So there was no. There was no Internet. There was no source of, like, how you got information. And I. And I don't even know how I did it to this day. I extracted the information, and it took me a while, uncovered this all and sent John Mellencamp an invitation to my wedding.
Danielle
Oh, my God.
Michelle
And I sent it. I sent it via certified, so we had to sign for it because I said to myself, well, at least at the very end, and actually, his mother signed for it.
Danielle
And did you send something back?
Michelle
No.
Danielle
Oh, okay.
Michelle
That's the sad part of the story.
Danielle
Restraining order.
Michelle
Do not ever, like, allow anything. But anyway, that was mine.
Brooke
Wait, hey, the mom saw it, and maybe she told him, like, well, that's really cool, Mom.
Danielle
We never talk about planning your. Like, that's the first, like, bit I've heard when you said, when we were planning, like, you planned your wedding. Like, I.
Michelle
Like.
Danielle
Yeah, I know. Like, how many people were your wedding.
Michelle
I actually asked Addie that recently, like, how many people. People were at our wedding, and I think it was, like, 180.
Danielle
Oh, okay. That's a good. Yeah, that's a good.
Michelle
Maybe even a little bit more. But, you know, it was different back then. You had a lot of, like, family.
Danielle
Members that you're, like, you've never met them. Yeah.
Michelle
You'll see at the funeral. Yeah. That's the next time you'll see them, you know?
Brooke
Yeah. I feel like people are more selective.
Michelle
Different now.
Danielle
You know?
Michelle
Now it's. But. But. And I will say this, and I'm sure Michelle will agree. Even if they were invited, it wasn't as if, like, we didn't know any better. Like, you guys would know better now. Like, if I said to Brooke, like, you have to invite Aunt Sally and Uncle Jim, and she was like, no way. Like, we. You just didn't do that back then. You didn't. You didn't say no to your parents list.
Brooke
Yeah.
Michelle
You're like, okay, sounds good.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
It was more like, traditional.
Michelle
Yeah.
Danielle
Versus, like, now. It's like, yeah, like, no, actually, I'm paying a lot of money for them to go.
Michelle
So, like, it's more purposeful now. Right. Which is sort of better.
Brooke
It's pretty cutthroat these days. I feel like it's like.
Danielle
Yeah.
Michelle
Do you even make the list?
Brooke
Yeah.
Michelle
Yeah.
Danielle
The word, like when like you have a long term, like boyfriend or something, they're like, sorry, don't have room for them. It's like, damn.
Michelle
No, that's one for you.
Brooke
I know we've actually talked about like one day when I get married. I feel like you have said that there's like a few people that you would like.
Adina
Definitely.
Michelle
Oh, totally.
Danielle
They're all cute by me.
Brooke
Yeah, of course they would like.
Adina
But now there's so much a trend towards destination weddings and things where, you know, the local people can't really always do that or go. It's very different.
Brooke
I think people do that.
Adina
So maybe they do so they don't have to have these big weddings. But it's not like your little hometown event place or church or whatever. It's every. People are going places.
Brooke
I love it.
Danielle
Yeah.
Michelle
So I'm a fan of the destination.
Brooke
I love that.
Danielle
It's fun. I am interested. But, you know, I've heard similar sentiments that it's hard for like elderly family members to travel and things like that. So it's like, you know.
Michelle
Yeah, but it's your day.
Adina
It's your day with your person.
Danielle
Hey, you heard it here. I like that.
Michelle
It is okay. So. Yeah.
Brooke
That's so cute.
Michelle
I put that on.
Danielle
I don't know how we went down this road. Oh, John Mallencamp's her celebrity crowd.
Michelle
Well, maybe. Well, I wouldn't say that he's like, oh. But I wouldn't say he is my celebrity.
Brooke
Crossroads someone. Music.
Danielle
Oh, that's a good question.
Michelle
Who did you.
Danielle
Did you have like.
Adina
We had something called Tiger Beat, which was.
Michelle
Oh, no. Yeah.
Brooke
Oh, we had that.
Adina
Did they have it? Okay.
Michelle
Sean Cassidy.
Adina
Yeah. Who's that crazy guy from the Monkeys?
Michelle
Yeah, Sean Cassidy. Can you guys now. I. I'm hoping that there'll be some sort of video footage that you'll insert the photo and Buckle up, girls. Sean Cassidy, the hair. No, he had short hair. He was like a. He was like a, like a goody two shoes type of like. He wasn't like.
Danielle
He was a good, good man.
Adina
No, Leif Garrett was a big.
Michelle
Oh, yeah.
Adina
Leif Garrett. Yeah, that was somebody that was.
Michelle
He had the longer hair. He was like the, you know, I don't want to say the bad boy, but.
Adina
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Michelle
Sean Cassidy. Did I just tell you he kind.
Brooke
Of looks like Justin Bieber? Like flippy hair and all?
Michelle
Like, he was the guy, like, he was the one that you'd be like, wow. Yeah. But I was into the Rolling Stones, so I like Mick Jagger and, like, I had, like, weird, weird.
Danielle
You wore, like, leather jackets and stuff. Like, you were, like, alternative.
Brooke
Maybe it's a long. She liked the rock and roll.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
Mom, give me something. I know. Or Matthew and Matthew McConaughey, I feel like. Is your.
Adina
That's more new.
Brooke
Current.
Michelle
Yeah. What?
Adina
No, I. I've named some names, but I'm trying to think of, like, bands and stuff.
Michelle
I. I like the Police. I like.
Adina
You know, because I like Sting. Lover boy. Was. But, like, back in the.
Brooke
Cute. Like. Oh, my God.
Adina
I like Tom Cruise.
Michelle
I did.
Adina
I thought he was a.
Brooke
Answer.
Danielle
Yeah, that's a good answer.
Michelle
Okay.
Danielle
Yeah, I know.
Brooke
Curious. Good one.
Adina
Yeah.
Danielle
What was popular back in the day.
Brooke
Back in our day and now? Who knew you guys would be sitting in a podcast studio? Never.
Michelle
Never.
Adina
I can't imagine. But I'm thrilled to be here, so fire away, kids.
Brooke
I know.
Adina
What do you got for us?
Brooke
All kinds of things.
Adina
They got tons of questions.
Michelle
Let me just be the one to say, also, this was very different because in. In the past, when I. When Brooke and I would do this without, of course, video, she would, you know, prompt me. Okay, so here are your list of questions. Go get ready for it. Blah, blah, blah. I'm at her apartment. I'm like, you.
Brooke
She didn't send you.
Michelle
You going to give me anything?
Danielle
Were you prepped?
Adina
I. I looked at it.
Michelle
Zero. Okay. I thought that's why you wanted to do the list.
Danielle
No, that was for me.
Adina
I looked at it for one minute, and it was too much to try to.
Brooke
Anyways.
Adina
I was like, I can't think about that. So I have no idea.
Michelle
Well, I have. I got nothing. Because I got nothing. I'm crying. You better hook up. Anyways. Okay.
Brooke
Yeah, that's what she was like. You know what? I'd rather you guys just ask me. Yeah.
Danielle
And it's not, like, right or wrong. It's not like, wrong.
Brooke
Like, they're really. The gals really had a lot of things that they wanted.
Danielle
They really, really did.
Adina
I want to be helpful.
Brooke
And we. What we love about you two is that you guys obviously raised us, and this was just so fun. We're so great. But also, you guys are so different. And, like, we both love both of you so much. So it's just so fun to hear both of your opinions.
Michelle
I feel the exact same way.
Danielle
Oh. Oh, definitely.
Adina
Short 100.
Danielle
Okay. Well, actually, another thing that we kind of touched on if you guys came to the live shows is, like, how you two are different. Maybe how you would handle situations differently. Like how you would approach advice in different ways. Both effective, of course.
Brooke
Course.
Danielle
But, you know, from, from different places. So I feel like the gals maybe could use some motherly hype ups. Maybe. Like, for example. Well, we. This is applicable. I know yesterday I, I, we had a big career moment, Danielle and I. I personally asked my mom. I was like, okay, like, I'm ner. I'm feeling a little anxious before this, you know, we have something big happening. Like what? Give me some words. And I was interested to see, like, how the two differ on, like, their, like, hype ups. Yeah. Like, what was your. Well, I know.
Brooke
What did you say to Brooke?
Adina
Yeah.
Michelle
Oh, I was like, I said hi. I think I asked her something about how she was feeling first. And then I said, go, do you.
Danielle
Oh, Cap.
Michelle
That's what I said.
Brooke
Go, do you.
Michelle
You're amazing. And it's. It's gonna be great.
Brooke
It's like being you, like, right. I gotta do right. I love that.
Michelle
I will say, and I've said this to anyone that will listen to me speak about my daughter. I don't have to, like, dig very deep for the hype. Like, for the. I guess I shouldn't say. You know what I'm saying? Like, easy for you. It's so easy. Because everything that I say, she is. And then some.
Brooke
Yeah.
Michelle
Maybe I'm limited by my vocabulary at times because she's, she's fantastic.
Brooke
You don't have to worry.
Danielle
Oh, that's so nice, Mom. Let's get you the, The Thoris. I can't even say it.
Michelle
Thoris. That is why I'm reading more. I am reading to expand the vocabulary. Well, that's.
Danielle
But that's really nice of you.
Michelle
But it's true.
Danielle
Really sweet of you.
Michelle
That was my hyp. That was my hyp.
Brooke
I like that.
Danielle
Yeah.
Michelle
Yeah.
Brooke
No, well, she was with me.
Adina
I guess I was with her. So. Actually what I was trying to do was not talk about it. Like, make it just be normal. We're all just people doing what we do, so.
Brooke
No, I really appreciated it. Like, if you would have asked me a ton of questions, I would lose it.
Adina
I, I just kind of went away from it totally.
Danielle
And you know her the best that, you know that you react well on that.
Adina
Yeah. So we just, you know, ate and laughed and talked. Like, it's a.
Brooke
Like, she made my bed. That was really nice.
Adina
Yeah. Made you a little yogurt parfait.
Brooke
Oh, that's sweet.
Adina
Just normal. Yeah.

Adina
Because at the end of the day, that's it. You know, just be yourself and you know, go on.
Brooke
Rather than.
Adina
Yeah, that's, that's good because when you start asking all the questions and, and all that, sometimes it starts creating the emotions even more. But a lot of her advice, you know, when she comes to me, when she's not, you know, I'm gonna go into my, you know, yoga, you know, take three deep breaths, you know, change your thoughts, go for a walk, you know, use your peppermint. You know, all that stuff is because she grew up with that too, was me being like that. So I'm gonna go to those kind of things. And Dina has very good words, you know, she's gonna give you that. So it just depends because there's different times when you need more of that action kind of orientation or we need to go internally totally.
Brooke
And oftentimes we'll be like, can you ask your mom? Or okay, let me ask. Like we pick who we want to ask what. It overlaps both of you, but also.
Michelle
You were in person versus differently. Honestly, I probably wouldn't have. Because I would, you know, I have a tendency to go into that salesman, you know, motivational type of.
Brooke
Which is so good.
Danielle
It is you, you are like that. You got it.
Brooke
I like that. It's like, I'm not worried.
Danielle
Yeah. And have you ever taken three deep breaths in your life? Michelle was just saying she. When she advises Danielle on things, she says, take three deep breaths, inhale your oil. So I said, have you ever taken.
Michelle
No.
Brooke
Which by the way, I struggle.
Michelle
Actually, I shouldn't say that. I was at the doctor on Monday and I think she had me take three deep breaths. And that was a struggle. I was like, but how much in between am I waiting? You know, when they do that on your back, it's like, how long am I holding it for? Oh, is that a deep breath?
Brooke
I feel this.
Michelle
I literally don't know how to breathe, so no, I don't. Maybe you could teach me.
Adina
You can. We'll do that after.
Michelle
Okay.
Brooke
I'm seriously the same.
Michelle
I'm so bad at breathing.
Danielle
No, I feel like I need that advice sometimes too. Like in workout classes when they're like, you know, and make sure you're breathing during this. I'm like, what is that?
Michelle
Now that you say that?
Danielle
I literally forget.
Brooke
Like I. And I know you're not big to the oils, but that is why I love the oils. Cuz I'm. I have something to do. I have something to smell and inhale while I'm breathing. That's 100. Why I use them. Cuz it kind of like breathing is fun. Cuz I'm smelling something Good. It's relaxing me, you know?
Danielle
Yeah, no, that's. It's a purpose. Like, it gives you kind of like a.
Brooke
How many seconds?
Michelle
Like, why.
Brooke
But smelling something like.
Michelle
Yeah.
Danielle
Yes, I. I do actually like the. The. Is it the box breathing? I do that to fall asleep. Like, the four counts in, four counts out, six counts in, six counts out. Like, doing.
Adina
Yeah.
Michelle
Like.
Adina
Yeah.
Danielle
Do you ever do that? No, I only do it really, to fall asleep. It works amazing. Like, it's really.
Adina
What do you do when you're stressed?
Michelle
So you know what is very interesting? So my. And Sal brought this up. I have not mentioned this as a family. Sal brought this up. Little. My son recently that I. I'm like, well, you know what I do or something. And then he made some joke underneath his breath. He's like, hum a lot or.
Adina
Or.
Michelle
Or he said something like. Or sing or something like. Or whatever, like. And I'm like, what is he talking about? Is this a private joke?
Danielle
No, it's in the family that I don't know about. No, it's never been talked about. In fact, I think you guys are holding this from me because you're saying you already had this conversation.
Michelle
No, I feel like.
Brooke
Saying that you hum.
Michelle
So you said that I hum. So I. I was like, what is he talking about? And I was like, okay. So I let it go.
Danielle
Whatever you do.
Michelle
So next day I'm upstairs by myself in my own space, and I'm like, oh, my gosh. Humming. Why am I humming? And then I did it again and did it again. And I did then, of course, have to Google it because I'm like, why am I. It's awesome. And it is a stress reliever. Yes. So I guess it's something that I totally taught myself when I was younger, when I was stressed to do. And I guess that's what I do.
Brooke
Is it like a consistent hum, like a song?
Michelle
Yeah, like.
Danielle
Yeah, like.
Brooke
Wait, so that kind of makes it.
Michelle
Remember we recently talked about how you.
Danielle
Do that, like, different make noises like.
Brooke
Brooke will randomly just like.
Danielle
While we're at it.
Brooke
Brooke will randomly just be like.
Danielle
It makes a lot of sound effects though. I do like.
Brooke
But you don't do a song. I wouldn't say no.
Danielle
I don't think I sing really randomly.
Brooke
But I was just like, she sings randomly.
Michelle
Yeah. So cute.
Brooke
It is like self regulation, right? Something about the vibration. Sometimes if I'm really anxious, I go like, you bring it back to your body maybe.
Michelle
Oh, that's so cool. So what's interesting, you don't even know. I guess I do something everybody does but you.
Danielle
No, the stress management is something we're working on. I think.
Adina
Everybody.
Michelle
We all are working on everyone. Isn't everyone a work in progress with that? No, 100%.
Danielle
But I feel like it's like I could implement some more wellness tactics with my stress management as well. Like, I think maybe we should get some oils.
Michelle
Yeah. Yeah. Probably not a bad idea. Yeah, I think I still have some from the COVID days when. Remember Alex Warnas? Shelley recommended. Who's like a chef, right? She had recommended I lost my sense of smell. And she recommend. She's like, you have to buy essential oils. You have to put them out. She's like, and you have to close your eyes and you smell them. You don't know the scent and you just smell, smell. So. And then when you don't. When you can't actually smell it, then you look at what it is. Oh, it's eucalyptus. Hold on. And then redo it and train your brain to start smelling again. Wow. That's what she recommended. And actually I did it like I was, you know, desperate people do desperate things.
Danielle
I was saying, yeah, essential oils do a lot.
Brooke
They do.
Danielle
Big into those.
Brooke
Wait, that's so interesting. Kind of like along all these lines. I like what someone asked about. You know, a lot of these things are just questions of, like, advice that you guys have given us that would be helpful for our listeners. If we're talking about talking about stress, if we're really stressed, or Brooke and I definitely stretch ourselves thin. I. I'll at least say it for myself. Like, I'll say yes to so many things. Then I'm like, huh? Why did I say yes to all those things? What is something that you guys would say to us if we were, like, feeling that way? Like, if we've called you stressed about something.
Adina
Well, we already did that this morning. It's like, what do you really want to do? Like, go and. And, you know, because you can get into that pleasing and trying to take care of everything, you know, and you have to just go, well, what in your heart, what do you really want to do? And then go from there and say, you know, no, it's. We just spend so much time trying to take care of everyone else. I'll just say for myself, you know, it's. It's been ingrained in us instead of really doing what's right for ourselves. And then when you really know your yeses and your no's, it's a whole different ball game. Because you're doing it from your place of genuineness. Because when you give and you really don't want to, then there's an ounce of resentment. It's not really giving.
Brooke
Yeah, it's not giving.
Adina
No. So.
Danielle
Wow, that. No, that's a. That's a really good message. I was gonna say. I feel like you would say.
Michelle
Would be like, oh, no, mine's like, complete opposite.
Brooke
We want to hear.
Michelle
Which is mine because. Well, because if Brooke is stressed about her social calendar, it's going to be different than when she's stressed about her business calendar 1000%. So when she is stressed about her business calendar, that is when I enter as the business person and I try to give her advice on what she know and I'll say to her, but I usually bring it back to Brooke. Brooke, you know better than me, if you need to be at this event, then you should be at the event. If you're asking me, you've probably already made up your mind that you need to be there. But you figure it out. You, like. Because to me, business is different than her social life. Like, her social life.
Danielle
Yeah. No, I feel like I usually.
Brooke
It's about business.
Danielle
I was gonna say social life.
Michelle
I've.
Danielle
I've handled.
Brooke
I'm okay saying I need to get better at initially saying, no, you're so good. Brooke is so good at being like, I'm. I know I'm not gonna be able.
Danielle
To make that because I'll be like, okay, I'm going out. For example, you were asking me about my Sunday plans. I was like, well, I have a big day Saturday, so literally nothing. Like, obviously things come up. I'm going to have to go grocery shop. Like, you know, but you're. I know that I'm leaving the day open because I probably want to rot.
Brooke
I'm leaving Sunday open, too. I'm like, I'd like to rot.
Danielle
Yeah. I feel like I got good foresight with, like, the social stuff with business. I definitely.
Brooke
I like what you said. Like, if you're asking me.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
Kind of sad.
Michelle
That's usually how it is, right? I mean, that's just in life, if you're. If you're. If you're approached, whether it's Sal coming to me or you. Yeah. You already know the answer, but you're wanting to hear it. If you want to justify it, hey, I'm in for. Justify this. I'm in for that as a moment for sure. And you could work around it. It doesn't mean just because you're Asking that it has to be the. Yes. But it has to be thought about, like.
Brooke
Yeah, I like that a lot.
Michelle
Yeah.
Brooke
Those are two very. I know.
Danielle
Ways of handling it. I feel like it's a good cop, bad cop, but, like, they're both good. It's different ways of, like, 1,000%. How do you. Yeah. What are you feeling today?
Michelle
Yeah.
Brooke
What's one piece of advice about friendships that you guys would give or have given to us or people in your life with, like, friendships?
Adina
Well, and I got this because. From Tony Robbins, because I did a lot of his stuff years ago. Is who you spend your time with, is who you become.
Brooke
Wow. Here, you hear.
Michelle
You hear.
Adina
So it's important that you. You know, you value. I'm talking. You're close.
Brooke
Yeah. Your core.
Adina
That. And. And I think that's a true thing.
Danielle
That's a good.
Michelle
Brook knows this. We have a story. There will be zero names given on the podcast, but Brooke definitely knows. We had this. We gave this teachable moment to Brooke Michio when she was.
Danielle
Insert her age, like, in middle school or high school. Yeah, I. I know.
Michelle
Oh, you know, and it's so true.
Danielle
I know. Exactly.
Michelle
And it's. And it's. And it's. But it. But it. It's forever. Right. Look, we have to. There's times that we have to be around people that we really don't want to be around.
Brooke
Yeah.
Michelle
In business. Right. And that's why I always make it clear, no offense to anyone I work with. They're my work acquaintances, or can I say something else?
Danielle
Or if it's like a friend of a friend, I feel like I've been in those situations where it's like, I do not opt to be friends with this person, but they're best friends with one of my friends. You know, they kind of, like, tag along. It's like. Yeah, I have to be cordial like that. We're all in one group setting.
Brooke
We're all in a date.
Danielle
Like. Yeah. So it happens. I agree.
Michelle
Of course. Of course. But choosing your people is definite reflection of who you are, and you have to know that. Right. And it starts at a very young age.
Adina
Yeah. I would say that's important in choosing a mate. So as much as you choose that person, who their friends are is really something to look at, too. Wow. You know, I mean, I. I noted that, you know, your dad had amazing friends, you know, and you don't think of him as somebody that has, like, tons of friends now, but, like, I met the guys he hung out with. In college and heist. And you know, you can get a sense a lot.
Brooke
True.
Michelle
That's very true.
Brooke
Or even your. Even with friends, like meeting their friends or if they don't, I would. Friends. You're like, okay.
Adina
I'd say that's part of it is to see who they spend their time with.
Brooke
Yeah, I like.
Michelle
Yeah.
Danielle
I feel like you both have a lot of, like, long term friendships, right? Like, yeah, a lot of, like, friends still from high school.
Brooke
Yeah.
Adina
Yeah. Grade school even.
Michelle
Yeah, grade school.
Adina
I did too.
Michelle
And actually, the cutest name, Michelle would like this. I don't know, when I would introduce my. My. My friends, I would call them my old friends. These are my oldest friends. That's what I would say. And. And Aunt Andrea said. She's like. Or maybe it was Aunt Melissa. She says, why don't we just say our forever friends?
Brooke
Oh, that's cute.
Michelle
Yeah. And I was like, oh, that's actually much because it's like we're dating ourselves. But we are. I mean, we're friends since first grade. That's.
Adina
That's a very long friend. Yeah.
Brooke
What do you say when you like Annette and all them childhood friends?
Adina
Childhood friends. Grade school friends.
Brooke
Forever friends is so.
Michelle
Yeah. It's cute, right?
Brooke
Yeah, I like that because it totally makes sense. Like, there's no questions asked. It's like, oh, you've just been friends forever and you will be. That's really cute. My forever friend.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
Because we never know what to say.
Danielle
I know, I know. It depends who once again, hate or the answer.
Adina
Your Internet friends.
Danielle
Some people, we say family friends. We're family friends.
Brooke
If you didn't know, literally. I mean, I'll never forget sorority recruitment.
Danielle
Oh, yeah. We're like, it's our family. It's our family. It was too complicated.
Michelle
Yes.
Brooke
But the girl was like, really? How is that? She's like, come on, New York.
Danielle
And you're from Florida. I was like, it's family.
Michelle
I don't know.
Danielle
Like family. Yeah.
Michelle
And you're. There's nothing, actually.
Brooke
Okay, okay.
Michelle
All right.
Brooke
It's fine.
Danielle
I don't know what to tell you. Oh, that is a good one. Oh, my gosh.
Michelle
Oh.
Danielle
Best advice they could give to their younger selves in their 20s, or maybe even 30s, just as you're. As you were moving, like, what would you say to that version of yourself now having lived through it?
Brooke
Young Adina and young Michelle.
Michelle
Wow.
Danielle
I wish I could meet them. But we never. Isn't that so weird to like. It's so true.
Brooke
Think, like, they were just living life.
Adina
I think the biggest thing I've had to mature in is, is to let go of people pleasing. So that's been a big thing. Being young and, and trying to do too much of what everybody else thought I should be doing, you know, and spend a lot of time with that. That's. That creates a lot of energy to do that. So when you start to own yourself and you see that each decade, you know, I'm getting ready to turn 60 next year, I'm like, wow. But I'm psyched because I would not even give up an ounce of wisdom that I have. You know, you just start to feel so much better within yourself and more confident and less about what everybody else wants and more about what you want.
Danielle
Totally.

Michelle
Yeah, I think that that's, that's definitely it. I mean, it's, I don't know if I was necessarily really ever a people pleaser. Like, it's just not the person I am. I think if anything it's really maybe just be nicer. No, I mean this. And kinder. It's something that I've worked on myself and I work on it.
Brooke
I feel like you're so kind.
Michelle
I've really put in effort though, in the last 10 plus years to kind of morph into the person that I would want my daughter, my son to see as a person, you know, like I used to be. I'll give you an example. I used to be really known for, you know, like, Brooke would joke around, like, I want to see the manager. Oh, you know, like.
Danielle
Yeah, like, you know, actually, you're so right. And you haven't done that in a, like, thank you. But I remember when we were young, like we were like, why the fuck do you want to see the manager?
Michelle
You know, like, so it was a very, it was like, it was like a very. I, I, I, you know, look, I could say it was from, you know, like, you become the person like you, you're raised a certain way, whatever.
Adina
Yeah.
Michelle
And I didn't know any better. And I tell this story too. When I started my first business, right. So I started my cookie company and was going along a little bit for a couple of years now. Sal, who was already my husband at that point, turned to me one day and said, you know, you don't have to be a to get what you want. And he didn't mean it. He wasn't talking about me speaking to him. No, he was.
Danielle
He watched your interaction with someone else, correct?
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
And, and you had an unlock.
Michelle
And let me tell you, yes, I had a total unlock. But at that age, I still couldn't really see how to get there. And it's just been with age comes wisdom and actively working on it. And it's exactly. So thank you for. I'm proud to say there will be zero Karen energy for me in the last 10 plus years. And it's because I've been working on it.
Danielle
Yeah, yeah. And there's warranted times, of course, when it's like you have to speak up and advocate for yourself. But I feel like.
Michelle
There'S a way to do it.
Danielle
You've gone a lot, like softer.
Michelle
Yes.
Danielle
I think that's what it is.
Adina
So you have to make that decision between I need to step back and I need to step up. So. Whoa, that's. Yeah, that's where you. Yeah, yeah.
Michelle
And trust me, I step up plenty in work. Like, I am not known as. I am not like. No, you do whatever you want.
Danielle
So much work that maybe in your personal life you should step up.
Adina
Yes, that's what I mean. You've had to learn how to pull it in and back. Where I've had to learn how to go and come forward more.
Danielle
Yeah.
Adina
And step up. So that's. That's the contrast, and that's the balance all of us are trying to do. You know, it's like finding that ground and different opportunities call for different things.
Danielle
So true.
Adina
So you have to read the room.
Michelle
Right.
Adina
Situation.
Michelle
Is it a friend? Is it a business associate? Is it. Is it the. The. The. The Uber driver? Or is it the person behind the counter? Or is it. You know.
Danielle
Yeah. Sometimes I want to be the quietest person in the room, and sometimes I want to be the loudest.
Michelle
Like, right.
Danielle
Like, there's times where I'm like, I literally don't even look at me. Like, I. I just want to take in this information or, like, whatever.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Like, other times I'm like, hey, like, I have something to say.
Brooke
I. The same way sometimes I want to talk to people in the elevator. Other days I want to be on my phone.
Danielle
And that's.
Adina
And you're loud.
Michelle
Yeah.
Brooke
That's literally fine. It's whatever you can handle that day and what feels best to you. And as long as you know that you're going to feel good about it later.
Adina
Right. So then when you see other people doing that, you don't take it personal because you realize they're just doing what they need to do for themselves in that moment.
Michelle
So true.
Danielle
I need to work on not taking things personally.
Brooke
Yeah, definitely.
Adina
All of us. Yeah.
Brooke
It's so hard to not, like, get if. I mean.
Danielle
Yeah. I feel like when something out, like, you're like, oh, this was intentional, and this was like, yeah. And I don't even. Like, I won't even say it. Like, I'll just be processing.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
In my mind, I'll be like, oh, I see how it is. And it's like, no, actually, maybe I don't.
Brooke
Yeah, exactly. No, we literally have.
Adina
You never know what's going on with people. There's so much going on. So that's why when you just step back and sometimes I'll talk myself through it, and that way I'll just say, well, you know, who knows what they just came from? There's. There's things going on in people's lives that we have no idea. So you can lead with compassion, and then when you, you know, that's a. That's always a better option.
Danielle
No, you're so right. Also, I want to lead with compassion, but I also. Mom, you taught me this because even though we're very, like, outgoing recently, you said, like, something that you wish you Knew in your 20s to me was to directly ask for what you want. People aren't my readers and to be more clear. And I've been really trying to work on that.
Michelle
Yeah. I mean, I learned that in therapy, like, decades ago, and it's. It was very impactful because when you. When you just assume what people want or assume, you know, that, oh, no, you know, they don't want it, you know, like. And it was really. It was. It came from, like, my. I got married very young. Right. Sal and I were, you know, together since I was 16. And, you know, it was. It became like, you know, oh, no, he doesn't want to go to the party. And my therapist was like, how do you know he didn't want to go to the party? And I was like, oh, he doesn't care. Those things. He doesn't. And she's like, but did you ask him? And I was like, no. He would just say no.
Brooke
Wow.
Danielle
Yeah.
Michelle
It was like. And now even listening to my imagine, like, I was. I was doubling down on it.
Danielle
Yeah.
Michelle
Like I. Tripling down. I was like, you don't know what.
Brooke
The hell did you. Like, protecting yourself all.
Michelle
Yeah. And she was like, no, you know, next time, why don't you just ask him, see what he says.
Brooke
No, it's so true.
Michelle
Right. So imagine that.
Danielle
And, like, giving people the opportunity to. Before, you just assume that. Like, before.
Michelle
Before, you just allow them to disappoint you.
Adina
Yeah.
Michelle
Maybe ask them and then see how.
Brooke
Yeah. Just asking in general, I'm realizing and just being more direct and just like, instead of. I have a habit of, like, beating around the bush, and it's like, wait, let me just say what I'm thinking.
Michelle
Yeah.
Brooke
It just protects everything.
Adina
Because if you don't ask, the answer is no.
Michelle
Yeah, you're so right. Right.
Brooke
So true.
Michelle
I mean, I will say this, though. You guys are in a different. You know, it's a different generation. You know, your Everything is on this. Everything is being taped and processed and could be paused and commented on. And see, when she rolled her Eyes you see when she said this? Do you see when she. Like, everything is, is. It's different than when.
Adina
Oh gosh, I feel for you.
Michelle
Right.
Adina
In a way, I mean, yes. Our nervous system, our thought process, all that stuff was not taxed as much as yours are. So to me, you need to work on even more. So.
Michelle
Yes.
Adina
All the stuff that I embody and talk about because it's just always going.
Brooke
Someone actually asked, what do you guys like think? When like, obviously Brooke and I both received like mean messages before the comments. Like, how do you guys feel? Or are you just like, whatever, those people suck.
Danielle
Like, my mom has a hit list. No, I'm joking.
Michelle
Hold on, let me take out my.
Brooke
Yeah, let me look at who I blocked.
Danielle
I'm joking.
Michelle
Oh my God. Because remember there was that one time that I was like, I'm gonna say something, I'm gonna do something. Especially early on. It was early, early on.
Danielle
I'm gonna get involved. But I remember people were commenting. You were posting pictures of me on Facebook and people were commenting on them. Like, I was like, people are just hating.
Michelle
Oh, I laid that chick out. I laid her for that. Oh, she was actually this is a great one because she was. She was a. I went to grade school with her in middle school and she commented on. She commented on one of Brooks photos.
Danielle
I did like photos school with my friend.
Michelle
I remember. Remember when she used the word feeling for forced.
Danielle
Oh, cuz she. My mom post a picture beautiful. Brooke like did a photo shoot with her friend. Like she looks gorgeous. Something like that. And it feels.
Michelle
It feels forced. It feels this, it feels that. And I lit this chick up like it was. And I, I was like, I was like, you know who would say that? I said, you know what? You were a in grade school and you're a now. I was like, that's it. Where I wouldn't. Nor like that.
Brooke
But you knew her. That. That's different also too.
Michelle
So weird.
Danielle
Like, that was weird. I think it's a universal thing though that people like deal with just like people being annoying.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
And like, so I feel like it's applicable advice to like, I'm gonna start.
Brooke
Saying that I laid that chick out.
Danielle
You were a.
Michelle
In grade school.
Brooke
That's also so fair and warranted. Like I feel like you would do the same thing if it's someone you knew and it's something you post that became personal. Yeah.
Danielle
Yeah, that is, that is okay. But let's talk about those. Those are going.
Michelle
Okay.
Brooke
Like when Brooke and I will say like, oh, I just got this comment, you know, like, what kind of goes through your head? I'm just curious.
Adina
I just know so much of who you are that that's not you. I just. I'm just so rude. Like, they just don't know. Plus, I also know that just from all my psych 101 stuff that whenever anybody, like, outloads all that kind of stuff, it's a projection of how they feel within themselves, so it's all right.
Michelle
But that doesn't, you know, it doesn't take away the. Exactly. The sting. The sting of it, you know, like, that's the crappy thing about that. It's like. It's like, yeah, but the reality is this. But unfortunately, that's not going to really get you to feel much better about it. You know, I think that I. As of late, you know, my response to that really is just, you put yourself out there and this is what you're gonna get.
Adina
Yeah.
Michelle
Unfortunately, it's easier for people to say something negative because of the world we live in than it is for them to say something nice. It's also human nature. Like, you know, you've always said that.
Danielle
When I came home in high school and I was like, let me, like, whatever. And my mom was like, you put yourself out there, Brooke. And she was like, but in a way of, like, it's worth it to put yourself out there. But, like, you have to get past the levels of, like, idiocy here to excel.
Michelle
It's. It's like, you know, if you were a politician, I mean, or something, like, can you imagine, like, when you put yourself out there, like, and I say politician, meaning when you went to be the vice president of the. Or whatever.
Danielle
Secretary.
Michelle
Yes.
Danielle
Oh, my God. Did I ever tell the story about school when I ran for school secretary?
Brooke
It sounds familiar, but I ran for.
Danielle
This is actually a really good story. So I ran for school secretary, like, in. In fourth grade. That was, like, the first year you were eligible to, like, run for, like, student office. And I was like, I want to be school secretary. And I ran and I won. And then I started doing birthday announcements. I came up with the idea. I was like, let's announce everybody's birthday on their birthday, like, on the announcements every morning.
Michelle
So it was like, you did the. You did the. The pledge I didn't do.
Danielle
Yeah. But then I would go in, I'd be like, happy birthday to Danielle Carolyn.
Michelle
In the classroom.
Danielle
You hear it, you go, ah. Like, it was fun.
Brooke
I love that.
Michelle
Yeah, that's a great idea.
Brooke
I Hope they still do it.
Michelle
They do.
Danielle
They do.
Michelle
They do. As of like. Like, when I went back there, like, like so.
Danielle
Oh, wow.
Michelle
God knows how much longer. And they were still doing it.
Danielle
But then in fifth grade, I was going to. For re election. I was up for re election. By the way, we have to get the posters and everything. I like, we. I did a full campaign. No.
Michelle
Oh, yeah.
Danielle
Hallways. There was basic. Like, there was advertisements.
Michelle
I will.
Brooke
There's a picture in the newsletter.
Michelle
I could. I could definitely take some.
Danielle
Some, please.
Michelle
Yes.
Danielle
There's a picture of me and I'm pointing.
Michelle
Vote for. I swear you've never.
Brooke
No, I take it back.
Michelle
I did not know this story. Oh, this is great. Vote for Brooke.
Brooke
A vote for Brooke is a vote for birthday.
Danielle
I think that was my reelection.
Adina
That was my Brooks and birthdays. We got you.
Danielle
So then I'm running for reelection. This guy, really popular, funny guy, decides to run against me. Now, obviously, when I get word of this. Not happy.
Michelle
Like, obviously wasn't a good day at the MIO house. No.
Danielle
But I was like, I have to. I have to push through. And you guys came when I, like, for the day. Because you give your speech in front of the whole school or whatever, right? Like, yeah. So then I was like. It was the day that I was giving my speech, and he went before me. I remember. And he. He, like, made everybody. The crowds roaring with laughter.
Michelle
And then.
Danielle
And I'm gonna put a soda vending machine in the cafeteria.
Brooke
Oh, I knew.
Danielle
Thank you, everybody. And then he leaves. And so I just am. And I'm up next. I'm crying. I'm like, like, what? My speech. I'm not gonna put a sort of vending machine.
Michelle
I don't know. He's not even gonna drink.
Danielle
No, that's the thing. It's like these, like. It's. You could say anything.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
You can literally get up there and be like, we're gonna have ice cream socials every day.
Michelle
Right.
Brooke
I. I actually did know that part, but I did not know the camp.
Michelle
Actually, the funny joke is that we still use this. Daddy and I might have said it this week when we heard somebody say something, and I was like, and I'm gonna put a soda machine in the.
Brooke
It's like a car.
Michelle
Something crazy.
Danielle
It's like a joke. It's like.
Michelle
It's like, come on.
Brooke
I like that.
Michelle
Yeah.
Danielle
There's gonna be sewing machines in the cafeteria in fifth grade.
Michelle
Yeah.
Danielle
But I was the.
Michelle
No, no, no, no, no. She's leaving out. She's leaving out she's leaving out the tears, the crying.
Danielle
Oh, I full meltdown. I was like, my life is not over.
Michelle
No, you can't imagine so. Because I literally was on the floor and her speech was so great, you know, And I probably have. It's probably videoing it and the whole thing. And she did such a great job. And then your teacher wrote, you remember, like, what a great job you did or whatever. It was just so amazing. She had herself dead and buried.
Danielle
I was like, yeah, because he was funny. He made everybody laugh. And I can't beat a soda machine. How could I beat that?
Michelle
Well, she did, but. She did.
Brooke
I didn't know that you won. So you went home and they were like. Or do you knew that?
Michelle
Yeah, I think it's like, no days later somehow or whatever. It wasn't even the next day.
Danielle
I really don't remember. I remember you go back to your classroom and vote. But I don't know if they count the votes that day, though. Like, I do remember you go back and vote then.
Michelle
Yeah.
Adina
You cried.
Brooke
You buried yourself.
Danielle
No, I think my mom and dad were there and I was in the once again because that's where the speeches were in the cafeteria. So I was like, with my mom and dad, like, being like, what do I do?
Michelle
I'm gonna lose.
Danielle
Like, yeah.
Michelle
Oh, no.
Brooke
That is scary. You can't be in a soda machine. But I bet people were like, yeah, no way he's getting one in.
Adina
See, that's a truth for you. Being true to yourself in the situation.
Brooke
So true. I mean, that's on the win.
Danielle
Yeah.
Adina
Hey, that's why you won.
Michelle
Thanks.
Danielle
I'm gonna run again.
Adina
Yeah.
Brooke
To make a meme of like, brooke now, like, 2020 vote for Brooke is a vote for we fast forward, forward.
Michelle
When Brooke has a daughter that's going to be running and she's going to.
Danielle
Be like, Brooke will be the campaign manager.
Michelle
Here was my speech that was so successful in the different words. Oh, that is really so good.
Adina
I can't wait.
Danielle
I actually literally don't know how I won now. Thinking back on it, I would have voted for this. I mean, I don't like soda, but I feel like that sounds fun.
Brooke
But it sounds like this was just like the class clown.
Danielle
It was.
Michelle
It was.
Brooke
He wasn't serious.
Danielle
I know.
Michelle
Exactly.
Danielle
And he was my mortal enemy then. From then moving forward.
Brooke
Hope you're seeing this now.
Michelle
She probably still is. If she runs into him in town, she.
Brooke
Wait, that is.
Danielle
Sorry. That was. Do you have any crazy child stories?
Michelle
Did you ever Run for student elect.
Brooke
I did. I did. I lost. I was. Well, I ended up being. No, it's okay. I. I was vice president. I. I ran for president and I was vice president. And then.
Danielle
Give you the consolation.
Brooke
Yeah, that's.
Michelle
So everybody gets a prize.
Brooke
Yeah. I ran. It was the same. I don't. Do you remember this when I ran? Yeah, now I do it. A good friend I love.
Adina
Yeah. And he's.
Brooke
And it makes sense. He's so that vibe. But I won vice president.
Danielle
That's great.
Brooke
And it was this whole learning experience where I really, really wanted to win. But then I was able to be vice president. But then I was also able to be president of Jolly Rogers, which was our spirit committee. So I did all the pep rally. Like, that's more me.
Adina
Which really is.
Brooke
So I was able to be in student government, but then also I got to do that, so. And if I was president, I wouldn't have been able to do Jolly Rogers. And it was so fun to be able to lead the pep rallies. Oh my God, it was so fun. And I wouldn't have been able to do that, so.
Michelle
Oh, that's great.
Danielle
We also had like a student. Bro. I'm trying to get the tapes. I've been emailing the teacher from it. We had like Tiger tv. Did I ever tell you about that?
Brooke
Yeah, yeah. Because you were on the.
Michelle
The news.
Danielle
Like, that's. Give me the tape.
Brooke
We need it for our sizzle reel.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
We recently made a reel of all like. Yeah, we need to add that since childhood. Been hosting since 09. Yeah, you were Augustine.
Danielle
We're putting together like packages, you know, like about the, like, it would be like we went on like a Windows movie maker and like put together like.
Brooke
Oh, oh, back in the day.
Michelle
Yeah.
Danielle
Like the story would be like, you know, for the. This hand. Whatever like thing is happening.
Michelle
The school, like the social studies department.
Brooke
Is implementing a new like, welcome new teacher miss.
Michelle
Yes, exactly. I could.
Brooke
So did you have a co host?
Danielle
Yeah, yeah.
Brooke
When I did it, it would be.
Danielle
Like it was like always me and another girl because we were reliable. You know who it was?
Michelle
I can tell you what it is. Yeah, yeah, I think. I think I do know.
Danielle
Yeah.

Brooke
Okay, so kind of a little more light hearted fun. Okay, what's new with you guys? How we doing? Anything you want to share? Just living life, loving life. Traveling.
Adina
I'm traveling a ton and it's been amazing because earlier this year I had a little golfing incident so I hurt my knee which made me have to pull back from teaching.
Brooke
But yoga.
Adina
Yoga, right. And then, but then it's been all these amazing opportunities of travel because I have freedom in my schedule. Like people inviting me to go on trips or offering me I can pay half price and go on a trip or doing so I'm in my travel era for sure. Which I had no idea. So for some reason that's what I'm doing right now.
Brooke
Really happened.
Michelle
Can you.
Adina
Yeah, I mean I've. Well, I just, I did a big trip to Prague and. Yeah, Prague, Vienna, Budapest. I'm going to Turkey in October. I got to go to Cape Cod. I haven't been there. Michigan, you know, family things, US stuff. But it's just like this. So it's interesting because it was a hard thing. I, I've taught for 15 years straight and to step back like that and they love me so much there at my studio and I love it. And I also teach in the school system and things and I haven't given that up, but I do that as I want to. But he's like, oh, you could just come in and sit in a chair and do all that. And I'm like, no, that's not how I teach. And so it was that let go. And it's a hard thing to let go of something like that and not have the space what's going to fill it. But because I did, it's been filled with all these amazing opportunities that I wouldn't have been able to say yes to. And it's all been travel related. I mean, like, even this, she's like, you know, I'm like, I'm gonna come up here and see Matthew McConaughey. And then. Then you guys are like, oh, you're gonna be up here. Let's do this. You know, so it's having, like, made space in my schedule has created new opportunities. So that's what's new.
Brooke
You're a mom on the go.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
I love that for you.
Michelle
Yeah.
Danielle
I feel like you've been doing a lot of travel, too, like, going back for. To Florida.
Brooke
Yeah. Miss Florida girl.
Danielle
I feel like you're, like, really living your best life.
Michelle
Like, I'm trying. So another thing that actively working on in the last few years is balance. I. In fact, this was so funny. I was chatting with someone, a potential new hire, and she asked me about work life balance and which my colleagues go. I tell her, so, like, I go into my new best friend, by the way, and I know this is not public opinion, but chat GPT. So I go to ChatGPT and I put in, what is work life balance?
Danielle
I have to ask the definition.
Michelle
What did they say? Just to make sure that I'm like, oh, it. It was. It was quite lengthy, and I really took it in, and I was like, ooh. Ah. Like, I was like, you know, I don't want to be dishonest, but. Phone's gonna ring after five. No.
Brooke
And I think it's good.
Michelle
How about that? Sunday? Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
Danielle
I think it's good to say it up front.
Michelle
Yeah.
Danielle
And then it's like, you have the option to say, yeah.
Brooke
So then you feel okay when you need her on a Sunday.
Michelle
Right? Yeah. And actually, yeah, she did ask. She's like, oh. So when you say it's a Sunday, am I locking on all day on a Sunday, or am I just doing it? So it was actually great questions.
Brooke
Yeah.
Michelle
So work like that. Balance. And I am trying to. Because here's the thing. I can do what I do anywhere. I can do it in Prague. Yeah. I could do it in, you know, in Florida, where I choose to do it in Florida because then my husband can play golf and enjoy his retirement, which he pretty much put on hold when he retired. He really never retired. Yeah. And now it's like, I feel like I kind of owe it to him. Like, you go, do you. You know, Because I could do this anywhere. Car.
Brooke
You guys have a little golf cart, right? Yeah, Golf cart.
Danielle
Yeah. My dad gets to see his best friend, Uncle George.
Michelle
We really make a point of seeing.
Danielle
That's his really nice.
Michelle
Forever friend.
Danielle
Forever friend, Yes.
Adina
I don't know if I did.
Danielle
I went in a few of the shows. Yeah.
Michelle
In fact, we did.
Adina
Okay.
Michelle
By the way, we were in Clearwater to. Brooke tell you.
Danielle
No, no.
Michelle
What's the name of that theater?
Brooke
You know the. The one right, in Clearwater.
Michelle
The. The.
Brooke
I know.
Adina
Ruth Ecker Hall.
Michelle
No, no, in Clearwater. Right next to, you know.
Danielle
By the center.
Michelle
Yeah, by the center, you know.
Brooke
Yes, by the bridge. Okay.
Adina
Anyways, we went to.
Michelle
So we are. We are a little bit in our music error, like, where. Where, like, everything we do revolves around going to see some. In fact, the other day, three in one week, like, I was like, this is crazy. Yeah.
Danielle
What do you call that when, like, a roadie, like, when you're, like, you're going to concerts.
Michelle
Concerts. But we.
Adina
So we went to the sound. Is it an outdoor amp theater?
Michelle
No, no, it's the. It's whatever that theater it's called. It's something theater.
Brooke
Yes. You could look Capital theater.
Michelle
Yes.
Brooke
I think that I looked at that.
Adina
For an old, fat. It's an old time.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Next time.
Brooke
Capital theater. Yeah, that's it.
Michelle
Anyway, so cool. I don't have to get into it, but it was a Led Zeppelin cover band. So anyway, really good time. So. Yeah, we're trying to do a little bit of this and that and. Yeah.
Brooke
No, I feel like every time I talk to books, she's like, oh, yeah, they're gonna be here. I'm like, good for them. And when we were doing our live shows, I feel like you were, like, down.
Michelle
Yeah.
Danielle
You were just trying to, like, really spend more. Because it was always, like, back and forth and back and forth, and now you're like, no, let me, like, go for, like, time. And, like. Yeah, because I feel like you were never able to, like, actually enjoy because you were actively, like, on the move.
Michelle
Yeah.
Danielle
But, like, to be settled in one place for, like, many weeks is nice, I'm sure.
Michelle
Very nice.
Brooke
How often are you on camera then? Not super often anymore, so.
Michelle
Not really often anymore. I mean, we could, you know, chat it up, but I very excitedly put a backup guest onto my brand oh, my God. Yes. So that's my quality of life. And because what people sort of don't know, they think it's. That's the only thing that I do.
Adina
Yeah.
Michelle
No, but I'm really a. I bring brands to QVC and HSN, so I work with 55 brands. People think I work with one or two, hence me having a team and. No. And that's why I'm able to build the business. That's awesome. And that's why I'm able to enjoy those things.
Danielle
And that's why we go to, like, the food trade shows. Because you're, like, looking for new brands. Always looking for new.
Michelle
New. What's on next? What's happening next.
Brooke
And so cool.
Michelle
Yeah. So that's why it's. It's like it's snow.
Danielle
And she really has. I mean, like, I get overwhelmed with my phone. Like, I take it. Spend a day in her phone.
Brooke
Yeah. Does she have a text graveyard? Like, it's.
Danielle
Do you. Do you.
Michelle
No, because I gotta clean. I gotta.
Brooke
So do you reply right away when you go?
Michelle
Pretty much. And I am. And also, I don't have read receipt.
Danielle
You gotta turn that off.
Adina
I had to turn. You gotta turn that.
Michelle
Yeah, I thought about it yesterday, but.
Danielle
It holds you accountable.
Brooke
It does.
Danielle
So I think that's why you leave it on.
Michelle
Fun. Yeah.
Adina
But now you can put unread, which I love.
Brooke
For internal purposes.
Adina
Yes, Yes.
Brooke
I do that all the time.
Danielle
Me too.
Michelle
Literally.
Danielle
Yeah. I'm like, oh. But like, I have to reply.
Brooke
Yeah. Because it's like, I don't want to not reply. I just can't get to it. But that's impressive that you just found out.
Danielle
And I think she gets. I mean, name a person who gets more phone calls than this woman. Like, it's like, I just a lot of.
Michelle
Yeah.
Danielle
Because you're all talking the phone.
Michelle
Well, how about. Also the people that I would like. I specifically told my partner this morning, like, so here's the deal. I'm like, I'm going to be out of pocket, hard out of pocket from 1 to 4. And then I said, gals on the go, blah, blah, blah. The podcast. Oh, so fun getting engaged in a conversation regarding it.
Brooke
Yeah, it's chatty. Chatty.
Michelle
Until the phone rings at 1:15 and I'm like, hello, one to four. When I answered the phone, I answered it.
Adina
Right?
Michelle
Some people answered it. Yeah. Oh, really quick.
Brooke
Yeah.
Michelle
Yeah.
Adina
Never.
Danielle
Well, you guys have different, like, versions of the boundaries. I. I actually veer towards you, Michelle. Like, I'm like, no, no.
Michelle
You just said no. And I know. It's so true.
Danielle
I'll watch the phone ring. I'll be like, I'm not answering this 100.
Michelle
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Adina
Because you teach people how to treat you.
Michelle
Oh, yeah.
Danielle
Let's re educate.
Michelle
Yeah.
Brooke
Wait, so let's end it with this. What do you guys do to fill your cup?
Michelle
Oh, that's really sweet.
Adina
This is very filling.
Michelle
Yes. Oh, my gosh. This.
Adina
I mean, the love. I mean, I just know. I mean, you guys have no idea. One day, when you have children, you just. You can't even imagine. I mean, it fills me up just to see you. To glowing and growing and doing what you love so much. I mean, that is your greatest gift, is the happiness for your children. So. And I love being a mother, and that fills me up. And then just living my life too, you know, so traveling, being with friends, you know, of course, spa things, you know, and all that kind of stuff, but just enjoying other people really living their life. And you guys especially. Really?
Michelle
Yeah. I. I mean, I. I would absolutely have to state the same thing. I mean, watching everything that you guys have turned your. And. And no surprise, right? No surprise. I think that the day that Michelle and I met, you know, we really.
Brooke
At the moment, yeah.
Michelle
We knew that this. That we had. I knew I had someone special. You knew you had someone special, and together you were going to be incredible.
Adina
Yeah.
Michelle
And I've always felt that way.
Brooke
Right.
Michelle
I'm sure you've had conversations with Danielle where Brooke and I would have a conversation and I would say, well, just remember, she's got your back. Like, if we were talking about something meaning. Yeah, you, Danielle, so. Because what a feeling that must be like. I mean, look, we have friends that have our backs, but this is special.
Adina
Yeah.
Brooke
And we're partners, so, I mean, it is.
Michelle
It's very special. And to watch. It is so true. To watch the people that you love experience happiness. That's really all that you ever want out of life.
Adina
Yeah.
Michelle
So that's when your cup runneth over.
Adina
Yeah.
Michelle
Right.
Adina
Very much so.
Michelle
And that's how I definitely feel in these years of my life. And I've said that to you as a brook has asked questions that. Or, you know, like, when's the happiest time in your life? And it's like, right now. Always right now. Right now, you know, so.
Brooke
So cute. It's. I feel like, so lucky that one of our highest requested guests is you guys. Like, I don't think every podcast could say the same so definitely not so special that this is a guest that's highly requested. And we just are so grateful for you guys for being down to sit here. Danielle
No actually be perfect. Purposely like arranged like this was very much so. Like you both wanted to do it though, which is so awesome. So thank you for.
Brooke
Thank you guys so much.
Adina
We're glad.
