Brooke
The following podcast is a dear media production.
Danielle
So we've got some voicemails. No idea what to expect.
Brooke
Oh, my God, my heart.
Danielle
You always feel like you have to be a hundred percent.
Brooke
It's not ideal.
Danielle
I love this question.
Brooke
Pretty much doing everything open hand.
Danielle
Okay. Our whole friendship over that. That's better than nothing.
Brooke
I wish I didn't put that amount of pressure on myself.
Danielle
It's a little weird.
Brooke
Best years of my life were after college. I am a woman that I get passionate about things.
Danielle
You have to pull your hat down.
Brooke
I'm the alt.
Danielle
And hopefully that was good advice. Foreign.
Brooke
Hey, guys, what's up? Welcome back to Gals on the Go podcast.
Danielle
It's Brooke and Danielle, and today we are matching.
Brooke
Danielle Convinced me, guys.
Danielle
Wasn't a hard convince. Actually, Brook's manager got us these matching hats.
Brooke
Shout out to Zach. Yeah, I know. He mailed me, like, a winter, like, get well, kid. He was, like, surviving the New York winter news, like. And for you and Daniel, it was so sweet.
Danielle
So sweet. So our hats, if you're not watching on YouTube, say professional yapper, which I think is so awesome and so podcasty.
Brooke
It's so us. We. This is. Hey, this is our job.
Danielle
It's our job. I'm definitely feeling like Danny right now in my trucker hat shirt. I'm trying to think of, like, we need a name for, like, you, because, like, I don't see you in hats a lot.
Brooke
I know. I feel so, like, alt. Like, I don't know how to describe it. Like, I feel right now, especially for some reason, like, this type of hat, Like, I don't know, is it the brim?
Danielle
That's like, this is a trucker hat, so it's a little more masculine.
Brooke
Got it. That's what it is.
Danielle
Yeah. So it's not like you're used to, like, a tennis or, like, a cap.
Brooke
Yeah, yeah. A few times that I, like, wear a hat. I know. I'm getting more used to the hat. Really? Thank you. Yeah, I'm getting more used to the hat culture.
Danielle
Yeah, we need, like, a name for, like, you know, you said. So you're. You're Danny.
Brooke
Yeah, it's like Brock.
Danielle
Like, Brock. Brock. Easy. You just did. Made my job so easy. We got Danny and Brock for you today, and we're here to just bro it out with you guys. We opened up Hotline Gals, which you guys loved last time, which we did too. And we're excited to. We haven't listened to them, which, you know, sometimes bites us in the butt.
Brooke
You never know.
Danielle
But we just had you guys submit questions, stories, advice. Like, honestly, I have no idea what's going on. So this is a good time to say follow us on Instagram Algo podcast, because that's where we posted about our vision board event. That's where we're po. That's where the first announcements are going. Just because it's a little bit quicker than on the podcast because we unfortunately only podcast once a week. But yeah, we posted the link to the Speak pipe and people submitted things.
Brooke
Yeah, we love that. And follow obviously, our personals, too. Daniel, Carolyn, Brooke met. We actually have a lot going on the next few weeks. Like, separately, I feel like, you know.
Danielle
Yeah, there's so much. I'm. I have, like, a lot of international travel this year. I feel like. Yeah, we're both. We're both separately going to Japan.
Brooke
We tried to do it together. Guys. I feel like we didn't, like, really, like, announce that, like, the journey of it. It was a whole thing. I had limited dates. Very limited dates.
Danielle
Yeah. And it worked out because Katie and Jack really want to go, too. So we were trying to all go at the same time and kind of like, touch base. But as we know from last week's episode, Brooke is very strict timeline right now, and unfortunately, we couldn't make it work. So, hey, selfishly, I'm like, Brooke will let us know what's good, because you're going before us.
Brooke
No, I will. And we're going for a long time. You're going for a long, long, much, long, long last. Three long last. I will be there for, like. Yeah, like, doing it two weeks.
Danielle
How many cities are you going to?
Brooke
Yeah, I think three.
Danielle
Three.
Brooke
And then maybe like a extension off of one. Yeah. Yeah.
Danielle
There's a lot to add on.
Brooke
We have a lot of, like, days that are very much so. Like, we're into the. They're calling it japlaning. Have you seen this?
Danielle
I've seen. My whole Instagram feed is planning.
Brooke
I love it. I'm finding, like, the most amazing places. I. I don't even want to speak about it yet because I haven't. Haven't been yet. So I don't want to say, like, where I want to go and what I'm excited to go to because, you know, we'll talk about it after. Yes.
Danielle
We'll do a whole Japanese recap. I'm so excited. I know. I. I have a international wedding at the end of this year that, you know, brand trips kind of pop up. So we'll see.
Brooke
You never know.
Danielle
Yeah, it's. It's lots to look forward to. Speaking of traveling and experiences, the gals, Brock and Dan. Or should I say Brooke and Danielle? This is definitely. Brooke and Danielle took mahjong lessons.
Brooke
They're ladies. We had tea. Pinkies up.
Danielle
You're sitting like a lady.
Brooke
We did. We had, we had tea with pinkies up. It was really so lovely. We took a private lesson. I would resisted at first. Danielle brought this up to me months ago. She's like, let's ma you. Like, we're so excited too. I feel so bad. You're like, hey, mahjong.
Danielle
I've got a gal who can teach us.
Brooke
And I was like, no. Like, no heart. Yeah, like, hey, no heart.
Danielle
It's so funny you say that because, like, to me, it wasn't. I knew it wasn't like a full note yet. I thought it was just like, ah, in the new year. But maybe that's what you're saying.
Brooke
No, it was, it was not like a never. It was just like a. I'm. I, I. At that time, I would, you know, I do have a lot of other interests. I was like, my plate's full. Like, I'm running. I've needlepoint.
Danielle
My cup is full.
Brooke
My hobby. My hobby section is full. Like, I don't need to add. I've literally never had a hobby before, and suddenly I have three. Like, are you serious? That's crazy. No, I know. It's.
Danielle
It's actually crazy. But I know what you mean about, like, you know, mahjong is just like, everyone was talking about it. And you don't like to do what everyone's doing.
Brooke
I'm different.
Danielle
You're old.
Brooke
Brooke is old. I'm old. Like, I feel like I should, like, wear my hat like this.
Danielle
I'm like, she's got her hat turned sideways, she's so old. You did this comparison the other day. We were, when we were playing mahjong, that the reason you were kind of like, oh, everyone's talking about it. Like, pickleball, for example.
Brooke
That was the bit.
Danielle
And I was like, you know what? You're so right.
Brooke
There's always something that's. I mean, look, I do. Everybody's running right now, too, and needle pointing. I feel like I'm the most basic when it comes to basic, but I was like, I already have two basic activities. I can't do a third. So, like, yeah, but honestly, and I truly mean this from the bottom of my heart, our friend Kenzie Elizabeth, like, yeah, I Trust her so deeply with her recommendations in terms of hobbies, because she really changed my life with the need winning that I. What she, you know, once she put her Kenzie certification on it, and she reiterated when we got dinner with her, like, you would like it. I literally turned to you immediately, and I was like, danielle, go ahead and.
Danielle
Book that class, because right away it was perfect. And it's so crazy after posting. You probably did, too. After posting, like, we took Masha. I had so many of our friends be like, wait, I want to learn. I'm like, yeah, but see, now, the thing is. So we tactfully got a group of four of us, because you usually play with a group of four. So it's Brooke, me, Katie Bellotti, and Emily Billings. So that four of us are kind of on the same level. See, now I wouldn't want to, like, no, they're behind. Now they're behind. So you gotta catch up. You guys up. And then we could all play later. Yeah, but, I mean, it wouldn't hurt to, like, I guess relearn it. But it was. I'm really glad that we got a group of four so that. Because obviously, then you want to be able to play one day. Like, we just want to be able to be like. But that's. That's the thing with this. It's like, are we gonna be like, guys, should we play mahjong tonight? Like, I don't know. We're very busy. I don't know.
Brooke
We. We both, I think, separately have people in our lives that also play like, that already know how to play. So I think it's similar to, like, chess, like, where it's like, you'd like to just be able to. I mean, I. I don't know how to play chess. I tried chess club when I was a kid. My parents, like, tried, but I didn't get there. But this. I'm like, I want to get there. I want to get there to the point that I could. I don't need to be the one, you know, being like, this is how you set up the board or whatever. But, like, knowing the basic rules, I think would be a good. A good, like, skill to have in your back pocket.
Danielle
I play mahjong. It's like, a cool thing. Oh, yeah. Ryan's mom plays, and every time I go visit them, she always has her board out, and she's like, oh, I could kind of show you. And I'm happy to now know, like, so quick, shout out the Instagram handle at so Bam. Fun. B A m they do lessons, privates. They do classes for a ton of people. And I know Texas and New York, perhaps other cities too. They're growing. They're growing.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
But it's a twin sisters. And they're amazing.
Brooke
They're so. And I. They explained it, like, I feel like, when I was also intimidated by the concept of the lesson. And like, but they. They made it fun.
Danielle
They made it so bam fun. And now I understand why they're called so bam fun, because I won't even into it if you know. But now it was fun. Like, Kenzie posted her, like, what's in my mahjong bag? I'm like, let me watch. Like, I. I might know a thing.
Brooke
Are you gonna I get mahjong bag? I could so see that for you.
Danielle
Maybe if it came to that point. But right now I'm very like, team. Not a lot of stuff. Like, I can't accept any more things. Like, even at events, I'm like, do.
Brooke
I take the goodie bag? Like, I got it, I got it.
Danielle
Which is a good. You're a minimum good problem.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Except for the person that thought I was a hoarder. Oh, my God. Quick update, quick update.
Brooke
I hope I could. Like this. Yeah.
Danielle
So remember I had a neighbor in my last apartment that would get mad when I slammed.
Brooke
Yes. Yeah.
Danielle
So I was chatting with my old doorman because, you know, we text sometimes. I had a package and so we were texting. He was like, by the way, you have some packages here, whatever. And I was asking if they got something. Anyways, he was like, by the way, just so you.
Brooke
You didn't hear it from me. Yeah, I know.
Danielle
I don't want to get in trouble. He was like, you didn't hear from me, but the person that lives in your apartment now is having the same issue. And he bought a door softener, whatever that means.
Brooke
And this guy owns it, doesn't Denise? But he.
Danielle
Yes, the guy across the hall. They now they both own it. Yeah, yeah. Two owners back.
Brooke
So they're both like, there.
Danielle
Yeah. But it makes me feel so much better. So I'm like, am I a door slammer?
Brooke
But no, it's a damn door. It's. Or the. The.
Danielle
Or the guy. I think he's very sensitive to this door.
Brooke
Yeah, it's a. Do I. I know this door? Cuz I. Mine is similar. Like, it's an automatic lock door. So it's a little bit like heavier of a door. I mean, you could argue that all of the doors on my hall slam then.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
Like, sometimes I definitely try to be intentionally more quiet when it's early in the morning or late at night or if Ben is, you know, doing an interview. Like, I try to be a little more sensitive. Sometimes my hands are full. I'm schlepping.
Danielle
She's schlepping, your honor. And there's too much, so I just. Oh, did that feel.
Brooke
Wow, that's so to hear.
Danielle
I thought I was a door slammer, but really, it's just. That guy's got a problem.
Brooke
It's not that you're safe. Like, wow.
Danielle
I don't know why I thought of that.
Brooke
You're really texting. You're still getting packages there.
Danielle
Yeah, I'm like, I keep trying to, like, every time I'm, like, dming the brand. Like, by the way, we've moved, you know?
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
It's like when a store moves.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
We've moved down the street.
Brooke
Come visit our new location.
Danielle
Yeah, but. Yeah, no, still. But, hey, look, I love those doorman. So I'm still talking to them, but I don't know why that came up, but mahjong. Yeah. So definitely. Oh, my God. I feel like we were. She was explaining it to us, and we're all, like, locking in. Like, we were really. And then she pulled out the mahjong card, and if, you know. You know, guys, there are so many different, like, formulas.
Brooke
Yeah. It was number and, like, letter combinations, and you have to know what it stands for and the colors. I. I said right away. I was like, I get it. The red stands for red, and the green stands for green. I was like, easy and easy. She was like, you would think you were like. I thought. I was like, I'm smarter than all these.
Danielle
Like, you're like, oh, easy. Like, boom, done. She's like, no, it's very. Yeah, there's just, like, so many rules. It's like, you know, when you're dealing, you have to pick from the first and the third pile. Only on this time, always pass to the right.
Brooke
Except for the one time we pass to the left.
Danielle
But it's so cool because, like, I don't even know what the goal of mahjong is. And now, like, we get it. Oh, spoiler alert. Brooke won.
Brooke
I did. But did we. Did I really play, is the question? Because it was really our. Our. Our teacher, really, you know, she would be behind us being like, well, I.
Danielle
Wanted to play open hand, and I was under the impression we were all going to lay out all of our tiles so everyone could see. So it's like, see, Brooke could do this, or she would do this. But I'm like, oh, we're playing open hand. And everyone at the table goes, no, we're not. No, we're hiding. We're playing a real game.
Brooke
I'm like, the first time. Well, the instructor was like, no, I'll help. And then she said, no. I was like, oh, shit.
Danielle
Okay.
Brooke
And then I realized that Danielle's used to pretty much doing everything. Open hand. Like, open. You're used to, like, revealing your cards.
Danielle
I like to reveal my car. No. During the whole game, I'm like. I'm like, okay, so what would you do here? I'm being very open. I'm like, see, guys? I don't care.
Brooke
Like, I.
Danielle
And Brooks over there, like, Emily. At one point, she. I was, like, grabbing a snack, and I could tell she was kind of blocking. I'm like, I'm not looking.
Brooke
And she was like, I'm playing a defensive game.
Danielle
She was playing.
Brooke
She's amazing.
Danielle
She was like, okay, but, you know, if I were trying to be. She kept saying the word devious. If I was trying to be devious, like, would I not call that because I know someone else is needing it? Like, it was so interesting and so fun? So, yeah, I guess when you win, you say mahjong. You were like, mahjong.
Brooke
Yeah, I. I could sense that I was, like, getting closer, but you have no idea, like, where the other people are at. It's like any card game or any thing like that where you're, you know, collecting points. I guess I'm trying to, like, equate it to, like, a. Yeah. She was like, have you guys ever played tile games before? I was like, banana Grams. Love that one.
Danielle
Scrabble. Yeah, I played Scrabble. Yeah.
Brooke
Yeah. She was like, it's similar to Roomy Cube. Is that what she said? I was like, I. I'm stupid. I. No, I.
Danielle
No, I don't comprend. But I. Yeah. Delaney was telling me. She was like, have you played Rumi Cube? I was like, no. She was like, I think it's like that.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
So I guess that's, like, a known thing.
Brooke
I thought the dice would be more involved. The dice were really only involved in the beginning.
Danielle
Yeah, no, I know. I. I would play so many more times, especially if we had her. Clara around from. So bam. Fun. Like. Yes, that makes it fun. You know, it. It really. It was to be off our phones and really, like, use our brains. I really enjoy.
Brooke
I really bring back games, honestly.
Danielle
And we did it at this really cute spot in the West Village called Sula Luna and it was such a vibe. We're all ordering like cappuccinos and tea and little snacks and it snowed. We walked outside, it snowed for like five minutes.
Brooke
Loved it. She loved it. She was like, oh my God.
Danielle
It was so. It was like snowflakes.
Caller 1
It was.
Danielle
It was a cute little evening. So definitely wanted to share that with you guys. Cuz I feel like we're sharing our. I have no hobbies right now, but we're sharing. You're sharing our hobby journey. Listening.
Brooke
Yeah. It's also nice to like do something like that with friends and like have the date set. And honestly it's like it was nice having the like the teacher component or the like signing up for a class component because it's less easy to cancel. Like you're, you know, what are you going to do? Like you, you.
Danielle
You're easily be like guys, we don't have to play mother.
Brooke
Exactly.
Danielle
Right. Like. But no. Yeah, exactly. Cuz we're doing this with her and everything and she is just amazing. So can't recommend her and her whole team enough. And we already have our next mahjong day booked.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
I think. Yeah.
Brooke
So highly recommend. Maybe we should do that as a community event. I mean you play in groups of four but we could do.
Danielle
She said, yeah, there are ways we could do a bigger thing. So let us know if you're in New York and you're interested in learning mahjong or playing mahjong or anything like that. Like we would consider doing an event.
Brooke
Yeah. Or any. If you guys are like feel driven to any sort of event in general, like please always let us know.
Danielle
Like this is our year of doing events. Like we love meeting you guys in person and we're not doing live shows right now cuz we've done so many and. But there will be more for sure. So we just are really enjoying doing events and.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Hanging with you guys in person and. And yapping. Should I say yeah professionally?
Brooke
Professionally.
Danielle
Some might say professionally. Okay, so we've got some voicemails. No idea what to expect.
Brooke
We're ready.
Danielle
We're locked in. Anything else to share at the class?
Brooke
I was going to ask you because I just thought about it. How's Invisalign going? I can't be the only one who feels like just women's health in general is such a confusing space. I feel like we hear a bunch of different opinions like you should do this, you should take this. And honestly it can be Very overwhelming. But that is why the gals are big fans of O Positive. Oh Positive is a women's health company and they offer a range range of symptom targeting supplements that are going to support women at every stage of life. They've got the world's first ever PMS gummy vitamin and then now they have like their vaginal probiotics. They have some amazing things but the first ever PMS vitamin is their flow. PMS relief. Gummy, it's a plant based daily vitamin to help with like the common PMS symptoms. Like you know your hormonal acne or like you're bloating around your period mood swings. I think we can all relate to that and cramps and the flow. Gummy is vegan. It is going to use nut non GMO ingredients like vitamin B6 and chaste berry and lemon balm. And this supports relief from menstrual cramps by interacting with like those feel good receptors in the body. Like it really works when taken daily. Flow is going to deliver noticeable benefits within two menstrual cycles. So I have really just been all over the place. I feel like with my health in terms of like my female health and stuff like that and I feel like that is something that for me this year is like really important to start considering. You know, I really just woke up one day and realized like hey, I need to like focus more on like my women's health and like what's going on internally and tackle some hormone issues. Okay. And that's why I am turning to O positive. Okay. I mean who doesn't want to have clear skin all month long, less bloating and like less hormonal weight gain and fluctuation like and just be in a better mood. Like we all want those things, right? So take proactive care care of your health and head to oh positive.com gals or enter gals at checkout for 25 off your first purchase. That's O P O S I T I V.com gals for 25 off and we've gotta go. Flow. It's all about the flow.
Danielle
Oh my God. As I'm not wearing it right now. No, it's going great. I, I'm not seeing any.
Brooke
You just sounded so excited to give me that update.
Danielle
It's. It feels like a part of me now. Okay. I, I feel like I'm still not like I'm still waiting for my teeth on the bottom to move. I'm not like seeing it yet. But then at the same time every Week I change out my trays or whatever and you know they're fitting every time and they obviously are changing. Like when I look at this week's I see the tooth is like that I'm really trying to move is like moving down. So I know it's working. I really don't have pain from it. Like last night I changed them and it like, it's like oh for a second because it's a little tighter. It's like getting your braces tight. But I just do it right before I go to sleep and it's. It's really not a problem. It, it's been really great for the snacking. I'm not even gonna lie. Like, I've like, you want some of these nerd clusters? I was like ah, invisalign. I. I can't do that right now. But you're like, is it worth it? Like yeah, yeah.
Brooke
Is it worth like going to be getting off to get put away. Washing your hands.
Danielle
Yeah, you gotta wash hands before you take it out. Because I feel like everyone has the flu.
Brooke
Knock on wood.
Danielle
So.
Brooke
No, but that's really very germ sensitive. Yeah. Yeah, I get that.
Danielle
I've definitely come to the point now where I'm just like at a table with someone and I, I used to, I was like going to the bathroom to take them out before I ate. Now I'm like, sorry, I'm just.
Brooke
No but. And then you do your little hand center. I think as long as you're like. And you are so like respectful about it. You're not like ah, like leaving my head with no case on the table.
Danielle
Like, yeah, it's in a cute little black compact. Yeah. So hopefully in a few months, you know, we're very patient. We're trying to be patient here. I'll see some results. But it's been quite manageable. Every now and then I'm like, oh, I could I sound kind of funny or like I feel self conscious. There's. I'm totally not wearing the rubber bands. I've decided. So that's okay. Yeah. That's not.
Brooke
Decisions were made.
Danielle
Decisions were made, honestly, because I keep trying to do it with my long nails. It's hard to.
Brooke
So I get it. I get it.
Danielle
I'm okay with having.
Brooke
I. I just wanted the update. Yeah. Selfishly, because I feel like I'd have an ass.
Danielle
Now that I think about it, it's very.
Brooke
Gotta do routine check ins. Yeah. Yeah.
Danielle
Wellbutrin.
Brooke
Good.
Danielle
No kidding.
Brooke
Yeah. Everything's. Everything's good by me. Like, I love January. I heart January. Brooke is the new post. Yeah. Face of January.
Danielle
She suddenly loves it.
Brooke
You guys good? Yeah. Life is beautiful.
Danielle
Life.
Brooke
Enjoy every day. Oh, my God. It's too good. Too good.
Danielle
Running good. We're running.
Brooke
Yeah. No, it's good. I. I've gotten to the point where I'm like, you know, the fuel, like, the whatever. The gels and stuff.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
And I got to a point, like, I'm trying to figure out, like, do I run with a water bottle? Do I not? So the other day, I stopped and I stopped at a candy store halfway through.
Danielle
How fun.
Brooke
And then I just started eating the candy on my run. I was like, I love life. Like, honestly, like. Like, that's free will. Like, that's like.
Danielle
I'm like, eat some candy, and no.
Brooke
One'S gonna stop me.
Danielle
Hey, those are your gels. Those are your fuels.
Brooke
People were telling me that they use nerd clusters or whatever because it's like, the fast sugar that, like, great. Really propels you for.
Danielle
So what's the longest amount of.
Brooke
That was the longest? That was 7.5. Yeah. I mean, did I walk at some point? Like, yes. Because my heart rate, like, you know, whatever. Or just I was like, I've been getting cramps. That's been my problem. And I've always had cramps.
Danielle
Yeah. Yeah.
Brooke
Like, they call it a side stitch. I think that's what the people call it. Needle. Do you ever get that when you work?
Danielle
Yes.
Brooke
Oh, my God.
Danielle
All the time. All the time. Not when I work out, but if I'm walking.
Brooke
Oh.
Danielle
Not like life. It's like, if I'm going for, like, a fast walk, I feel like, oh, I'm cramping. Like, that definitely happens to me.
Brooke
It's been more so now. Yeah. Now that I run, like, I will get it on just, like, a day that I'm not running, like, on the walk. And I'm like. I think now it's, like, activated, but I. I am confused. It's always in the same location, but I think that it's fine. I saw, like, a method, like, a way to, like, breathe through it. Like, you're supposed to, like, double breath and then, like, breathe out.
Danielle
Like, kind of release the tension or, like, the weird feeling.
Brooke
Yeah. It's something about it. I have no ide.
Danielle
Those suck. Because then you're like, oh, I don't really want to.
Brooke
I know. And sometimes the real. Like, there's some that I'm like, I could push through this, and then there's some that I'm like, oh, no. Like, this is like, I have to walk.
Danielle
Run with a cramp.
Brooke
Yeah. So it's really about controlling it. And I'm trying to, like, do more of the, like, slow runs, but it's like. It is actually hard to do a slow run because you're like, I'm running or I'm walking. That's at least how my brain thinks. I'm like, what do you mean there's a slow. Like, I also feel like I look awkward. Like, when I'm doing a slow run. It's kind of embarrassing, right?
Danielle
Like, yeah, it's like, slow mo.
Brooke
Yeah. And then all of a sudden, you know, now I'm doing these running pads. Like, I go on Strava, and I find, like, a running path. So, like, there's all other runners on it, and I'm like, I don't want you. Like, I don't want to embarrass myself.
Danielle
Have you had a subscriber while running or a follower or a listener?
Brooke
No, not yet. Now they think about it.
Danielle
This is so crazy, because remember when someone thought you. Yes, yes. Going to Soul Cycle now you. You do be on a run.
Brooke
I do be on a run. Yeah. Yeah. No, it. Honestly. Okay. One cool thing about running, I'm just gonna. And I'll end with this because someone replied to my story, and they were like, enough with the running. Well, y.
Danielle
You don't run. It's like.
Brooke
No, I get it. Look, I'm a woman that I get passionate about things. You guys know this about. If you. If you don't know this about me by now, like, welcome.
Danielle
You have to pull your hat down.
Brooke
Why does it. It just got a little, like. It just got a little.
Danielle
Little high.
Brooke
I'm alt, but got a little excited. I.
Danielle
Those clips later. Hello.
Brooke
Okay.
Danielle
It was only for a second, so it couldn't have been long.
Brooke
Coolest thing about running, like, not to be so annoying. Like, obviously, I know my neighborhood. Yeah. Is it fixed? Tell me.
Danielle
I'm trying to say. Maybe it's a preference.
Brooke
I don't know. Is it. Should I go down?
Danielle
Yes.
Brooke
Yes.
Danielle
Okay. Yeah, that's good. That's good. You could lift it a little. I feel like you're not liking that. It was. It was. This is where we were.
Brooke
Oh, no.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Forehead. No. Not today. Okay. Not today. Not today. Yeah. Not today, Satan. Yeah, that was. I feel like I didn't even know what Satan was, and I was saying that, like, not today, Satan. I Know, my teacher's like, whoa. Yeah. My religious friends were like, don't say that.
Danielle
Oh, my God.
Brooke
Yes.
Danielle
It was a time. Anyways, okay.
Brooke
Running, like, I've lived in this neighborhood for a while. I do feel like I've explored, like, I have, like, explored a lot of it. I mean, not the entirety of the borough. It's. It's the biggest. Like, it's enormous, obviously. Yes. However, I have seen and explored so much. Like, you explore so much more when you're, like, literally running through it. And, like, there's definitely streets that I maybe haven't gone down and whatever. And I'm. I guess I'm just seeing so much more, like, stuff that I'm like, wow, this is only two miles away from me. But it. Feet like it previously felt so much further away. I guess you weren't.
Danielle
You were walking there.
Brooke
Yes.
Danielle
Like, so slow.
Brooke
But then when you, like, around two miles there, you're like, this isn't bad. I mean, am I going to, like, run over to this pottery classic? Probably not, but. But it's cool to know that it's there.
Danielle
It's really cool. You see everything from a different view. And so have you tried. Been on the treadmill at all since.
Brooke
Yeah, yeah. I have to. Some days.
Danielle
It's a bad weather. I mean, it's cold. You chose a fun time to start running.
Brooke
I know. I chose the worst time to start.
Danielle
I know.
Brooke
Yeah, yeah.
Danielle
No, I. January, though, Jen.
Brooke
But, guys, it's all about that January energy. Thank you. January. You've been great. Yeah, no, I. But at the same time, like, the summer would be tough, too, so.
Danielle
Also would be tough. So then you'll have your stamina by summer.
Brooke
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Danielle
You can do the treadmill.
Brooke
Yeah. When it's like. This is crazy that I'm even saying this. I genuinely cannot believe I'm saying this. When it's like, 40 and above, it's not bad.
Danielle
Oh, yeah. If I see on my little Alexa that it's 40 or up, and especially if you're running.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
I mean, because you said you, like, took off your gloves at one point or. Yeah, it gets warm.
Brooke
The other day when it was, like, 45, I ran in, like, just a. Like a light. Very, very light quarter zip, like 50. And then when you. They say that, you warm up and you're, like, 10 to 15 degrees hotter.
Danielle
Oh, okay.
Brooke
That's like. That's what Matt's told me. I don't know. She's one of my running Mads, our hairdresser. She's around everybody in my life that runs, like, now. I seek guidance from them. I, like, get my tidbits from them. You know, they're my. My muse.
Danielle
My muses.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
I'm excited.
Brooke
So it's really cool, honestly, if you move to a new city, it's a really cool way to, like, get a workout in and, like, see your city because you see the progress of things, too. Like, I'm like, oh, I'll run past this next week and, like, see if it's open. And, like, it is open. Like, you get to, like, really be. I don't know. It's cool.
Danielle
No, it 100 is so cool. I. I wish I could do it, and I know I could, but I love that you're doing it.
Brooke
It's a. It really is also not to be, like, so nerdy or whatever, but it's, like, amazing that, like, the body can do that and, like, it's a universal experience that, like, other people have had too. They're like, no, no. Like, I also couldn't run. And, like, here I am four months later and, like, I can, like, I can do it. It's so cool that you can. You just have to, like, improve. Improve your, like, capacity, essentially. Yeah.
Danielle
Sick. It really is. Brock.
Brooke
Yeah, Brock. Rock runs.
Danielle
Yeah, Rock runs. I love those cool, like, Oakley sunglasses.
Brooke
Oh, my God.
Danielle
I. Sick.
Brooke
Thanks. I love them. You know, I'm just improving my gear as we go, so.
Danielle
Yeah, you're slowly getting the gear. Well, yeah. So Invisalign, running and Mahjong are hobbies.
Brooke
Dentistry.
Danielle
Yeah, dentistry. Are you ready to hear some.
Brooke
I'm ready.
Danielle
Voicemails.
Brooke
Let's hear what the gals have to say.
Danielle
All right, here we go.
Brooke
I know when that hotel.
Caller 2
Hi, gals. I wanted to say I love you all. Keeping you and fabulous. Quick snippets of a question and I'm sorry if I'm breathing deep. I'm putting myself full on blast here. I'm outside walking. It's the first winter walk outside of the year here in Northern Virginia. The weather is actually pretty decent today from the 50s. It's setting the scene. But I wanted to ask if there is a live show in the 2026 calendar year that is coming up. If not, are you able to share a snippet of a secret project you guys are working on?
Danielle
Q3, Q4.
Brooke
We actually haven't really. The company hasn't discussed when the live shows will return. We really haven't set a date for that. There's been a lot of change with Going over to Dear Media. I feel like there's been.
Danielle
That was our secret project.
Brooke
Yeah, no, I know. It's out.
Danielle
Hey.
Brooke
Yeah. And I think we also. Last year we never really shared this. Like, we had other changes like with our agency and stuff.
Danielle
Yeah. Like internal, like team changes that we.
Brooke
Restructuring companies.
Danielle
Companies restructuring. We hired on someone. Yeah. Which was really exciting. So kind of working on the bones. No, no, we. I think we said in like maybe in December, like big things coming. That was our Dear Media announcement, which we're so excited about. And we're already seeing such an exciting change in just like the opportunities we're getting. So I do. I do feel like there's gonna be more. But no, not hiding. No, no. Like gals. Secret project. Specifically, if you have a secret project you'd like us to be involved in.
Brooke
We are 100 down, no heart.
Danielle
No, no. Like, no secret project. And that's. I'm being honest, you know, like, we just love this podcast so much and we love talking to you guys every week and that's. We have like one thing that we love to do one day, but we also like, don't know if that.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Yeah. So I don't know. But yeah. We haven't talked about live shows. Like we've been saying we've been really enjoying these community events. And the goal would be that we'd come to Boston and do like a workout class with you guys or a couple or, you know, we'd go to Texas and do it. You know, it would be kind of like that same thing. It's just not a live show per se. But it's honestly more of us hanging out with you guys.
Brooke
Totally. Definitely. I really love the shows. I really think that they're so fun to be on. Like, and I honestly think we put on a great show.
Danielle
I think that we put on an incredible show.
Brooke
That la. That show at the end. Like, I was so proud of that show. Like, I feel like I don't know why I'm thinking of like Cincinnati. Like, it was just like. Like it was a good show.
Danielle
Like, it's so fun going into the audience, just seeing people like really get all dressed up and fly in for it. Like, it's such an honor. And that's why we don't just do these shows willy nilly because we refuse to have them be mediocre 100%. And it was it.
Brooke
That show had ran its course also. And we refresh. We do completely new material every, like every time. Time we've done a tour and I feel like we needed to get re inspired and also just, like, you know, build anticipation for ourselves again. When you're, like, in the cycle of doing it, like, now that I'm out of it, I can realize, like, that was so cool. But when you're in it, you're like, it's just kind of rinse and repeat. It becomes, like, the norm.
Danielle
Yeah, no, it was, like, a lot of traveling back to back, but it's not even. I don't want to discount. You said it's not even re inspired because, like, we love it so much. It's just like. Because, like, now we can't do that same show again. Like, we don't.
Brooke
That's what it wants to. No, we just ran through its course.
Danielle
So we need to, like, it would need to be a new show. And, like, we like to format segments around, like, things that happen on the podcast and, like, jokes. So we kind of need to let those happen.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
And this is obviously, like, we've always. We've been saying, like, a big year, I think, specifically for Brooke too. Like, there is no way we could be doing live shows this year. Between you're, like, nine weddings, I have, like, four weddings this year. Like, there's just so much planning. So we definitely love doing them. Like, I freaking love getting all dressed up and meeting you guys, and it's so fun. So there will be more, but not this year.
Brooke
Yeah. But definitely in the future at some point. They're not like. It's not like we're never doing a live show.
Danielle
Oh, my God, no.
Brooke
Yeah. They're the best.
Danielle
So thank you for asking. It was so nice.
Brooke
Okay.
Danielle
Before skims, I honestly didn't put that much thought into my bras and underwear. I would spend you guys so much time picking out an outfit, and then I'd put on a bra that was uncomfortable. It was digging in or something. I'd literally just be adjusting all day. And it really does affect how you feel in your clothes. Once I started wearing skims, it completely changed that for me. Now I genuinely think about what I'm putting on underneath first because it kind of sets the tone for my whole day. Everything is so soft and stretchy and supportive without feeling restrictive, which I love. It's the kind of comfort where you forget you're even wearing it, which is exactly what I want. One of my absolute favorites is the Fits Everybody T shirt bra. I've always struggled with bras that feel either, like, too bulky or not supportive enough. And this one is kind of that perfect. Balance. It's seamless, smooth under clothes and doesn't dig in at all. I can wear it all day. If you're looking to refresh your top drawer, we've all got one of those you have to try Skims shop my favorite bras and underwear@skims.com gals and after you place your order, be sure to let them know we sent you by selecting podcast in the survey and choosing our show in the dropdown. And if you're shopping for the perfect Valentine's gift for someone you love or for yourself, the skims Valentine's shop is officially open. Hi gals. My name is Megan and I'm one of your college age listeners. I just want to say I love, love, love your podcast and I was at your Boston live show which was a ton of fun.
Brooke
Love it.
Danielle
My question for you guys is what wellness habits, tools or even classes did you find that you really benefited from versus which ones were sort of just trendy and didn't really improve your overall fitness? Thank you gals.
Brooke
Oh my God. That's such a good question.
Danielle
I love this question.
Brooke
Yeah, I do love this question.
Danielle
Well, you recently got the vibration plate.
Brooke
Oh yeah. I feel like that helps with digestion. Like, I don't know if it helps with like, like the deep loading and stuff like that.
Danielle
But you're liking it?
Brooke
Yeah, I like it. I mean I like it because I will do my arm exercises on it. So I kind of like stack like in my mind. Yeah. Because it's 10 minutes and I'm like, hey, I can do a 10 minute arm workout.
Danielle
Do you do the Gabby George?
Brooke
I haven't been following the exact program I, I did at one point. At one point I did the 14 days which was great. It's like a five minute like whatever. Gabby George, she's amazing.
Danielle
I really like her bridal arms. Is that.
Brooke
Yeah, it's just lightweight high rep up exercises.
Danielle
Like out of soul cycle class when you're doing that.
Brooke
Exactly. I love.
Danielle
Those are my favorite arm workouts.
Brooke
Yes. Like you just need like a three pound or a five pound and you do it like very. You could use. She also says you could just use what you have around. Like if you cans or something. Like you can. Yeah, yeah. Literally make it work.
Danielle
I love that.
Brooke
Yeah. Or use your body weight too. So I feel like that I was actually gonna say I, I just saw a girl's tick tock talking about like this and how she was like, I switched to Pilates. Like my body changed and I, I kind of have Been like, theorizing on my own experiences in the past and like, what has worked for me versus, like, I guess this is deep, but, like, I feel like I'm in a really good rhythm with it right now. Like, in terms of, like, I think that my body just responds well to this running situation.
Danielle
I feel like your body runs. Responds well to cardio.
Brooke
Yes. And I think you have to figure out what that is for you. And not everybody is that way. You know, some people are like, no, I need to do my pilot. But when I'm just doing, like, when I was just doing body rock, just Pilates, like, I was not, you know, feeling myself the way that I do now. I guess.
Danielle
Yeah, no, I. I totally know what you mean. And I've seen this online. I saw like the 12, 3:30 girl made a whole video about.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
You know, she's like, I started doing Pilates and I have never felt worse about myself. So I'm gonna. And like, I don't. I think for me, with Pilates, like, I totally agree. I feel like those are like, it's almost like a restorative thing. Even though it's hard, it's like, those are the days I would go do Pilates if I'm like, I don't feel like lifting weights right now or doing something more high intensity. And, you know, Pilates is for a very specific type of person and if it works for them. But you're so right. It's just kind of what works for you. My favorite workouts recently have been like, sculpt classes, like, you know, Soto method or like, I go to a lot of the Equinox classes and that's. I find I feel the best. I feel strong because there's a mix of weights, but then also like, free weight. Like, it's cool. Or free. No weights. Body weight, free weights. I was like, free weight. No, that's. That's a gym. I'm not free. Waiting.
Brooke
No, I think it's really. That's the. That is, to me, the wellness hack is that I think for so long I was seeking opinion. Like, I was, what are we doing? Like, trying to like, get the answer from someone. And I think it's figuring it out for yourself, which is a lot of trial and error. And like, here I am, like 28 and like, I'm sure I'm not going to run forever. Like, I'm sure that this is just knowing myself. I'm sure one year from now I'm going to be like, well, that's the. Like, I You know, I'm not doing that, but I think no matter what phase you're in, it's about go like ex. Experimenting.
Danielle
Yeah. And like, not just copy and pasting someone else's routine because it's just. It's just going to be different for everyone. So. Yeah, I'm trying to think of any, like, wellness things I've picked up. I kind of just always do my little electrolytes and my self care. Like, there's nothing new. Like no new supplements. Really. Kind of just. Just still sticking to the same. Because that's also like, I talked to my doctor about, you know, like, it's so hard to figure that out. Yeah. I mean, I feel like we both really like saunas.
Brooke
Yeah. Especially in the winter. It's so nice. Oh, it's so nice. I really am enjoying that hug. It really is like a nice way to end the workout.
Danielle
You know what I am trying to do more is stretch, which is so like. But like, my back kind of hurts after working out this morning and like, that ain't good. And I look at my mom, who's a yoga instructor, and you know, she's about to turn 60 and she's just so mobile.
Brooke
She is.
Danielle
And she does stretch every day, you know.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
So, like, I. I don't love going to a yoga class, but even if that's in the morning, like, or after a shower or something, just doing a couple like, stretches with deep breaths I think would go a long way for me.
Brooke
I'm so excited because there's a core power opening really close to me and I love that. Like, I do really like that. I like the sculpt version of that class. I think my goal for this year is to be. No, not. No, I don't have goal. No, no, no. What I'm doing is I want to get back to doing multiple things because I get fixated on one thing.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
And right now it's running. And like the other days I kind of just do incline walk, but I'm like, I want to start. I'm going to start integrating back in some optimizing. Like, I want to be able to do Pilates once a week.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
I want to be able to do hot yoga class once a week. Like, I think that's.
Danielle
That's the, that's the goal. That's like having that running as your. Your base.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Like building a slop bowl.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Like, that's my rice or greens or grains.
Brooke
Yeah. And I chose like running or, Or.
Danielle
Yeah. So running to your face. That's a fun thing that you will do.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Not a goal.
Brooke
Yeah. And also it's finding something you like. I have to say, the best workout. They say the best workout is one that you. You'll stick to. And it is so true. Because I've done the punishment type thing of, like, being like, no, I have to do this and I stick to it for two days and then I stop. And what good use is that? Because then I just don't go to the gym for a month or don't do any workouts for a month versus, like, doing something maybe you know, a little bit more low impact. You know, maybe it's not as cool to post on Instagram, but maybe it's something that I'll actually, like, not despise.
Danielle
100 no, that's actually something that I'm shocked by myself. I haven't been, like, posting my workouts anymore, which is crazy. But I think it's also just personal. Like, I mean, sometimes I do if I, like, like my workout outfit or something, but it was like a. I'm gonna give myself a pat on the back. I feel like, for me and I feel like for you too. It's like, posting it. It's like a thing for yourself. Like, I did it. It's like a way to hold yourself accountable. Like, I went and worked out. This was like, probably, like, relates to, like, five people. But, like, you know, some Strava girls love to post. Yeah, the Strava girls and I, like, when we were talking about the New Year's goals and stuff, I was like, I am so proud of the cadence at which I am working out. And I'm like, good for me. Like, not everyone needs to know that I went to workout classes. Especially if it was like, what am I. What am I gonna show? Just, like, my. My mat. Like, I. I don't know sometimes. So. But it's not to say, like, I won't do it sometimes. I just think it's a. It was a cool place to come to myself with, like, okay, you're. You're on a roll. Like, I feel like we're both on a roll right now. And it feels really good.
Brooke
It does feel really good. I'm trying to get better about the nutrition with the running stuff and, like, managing my electrolytes and, like, trying to be more. I don't know if you hate yourself. I'm trying. I am being more mindful about truly fueling myself. Like, post run, pre run. Like, that is that wellnessy stuff that I think I could always Be better about.
Danielle
No, I know. That's, like, the big thing is nutrition.
Brooke
Oh.
Danielle
One thing I wanted to say, because you're saying how, like, you know, like, getting in a good cadence of it. Whatever. I saw this. Tick tock. You might have seen it too. I. I'm so sorry. I forget the example she made, but basically she was saying, like, you know, you'll be thinking, oh, I. Even if you're going to a social event, let's say you're going to a social events.
Brooke
Like.
Danielle
Like, I feel like sometimes I'll text you. Like, I. My social battery is low tonight. Like, I'm gonna need you to, like, really pull through for me. Like, I need you to carry the combos. And it's like, okay, so I still went to the event, but maybe I'm at 50. So she was saying, why can't you go to the gym and be 50? You always feel like you have to be a hundred percent when you go to the gym, but it's like, okay, we'll go and get 50. That's better than nothing. And I was like, this. That's so true.
Brooke
And most of the time, then when you, like, start doing 50, you're like, I could give 80.
Danielle
You keep going.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
You're over there on the treadmill. Five, six, seven. You know?
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Like, it. It's so true. And I really liked that mindset because then you get in the rut of, like, you don't go at all. Or it's not even just with working out. It could be with eating well or whatever it is. You can apply it to so many things in life, and I. I liked it a lot.
Brooke
I agree with that. That's a good take.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
All right, here's another one. You guys are asking some fun questions.
Caller 1
Hi, gals. So I'm a current college senior, and I've actually been listening to you guys since you were in college, which is so crazy to say, but I just wanted to get your opinion and advice on senior year, specifically your last semester of college and the transition to postgrad. I'm obviously a little bit anxious about it, but. No, you guys had an amazing experience at UGA and just wanted to know if there was anything that made that last semester extra special that I could carry with me through my last semester.
Danielle
I'm gonna cry.
Caller 1
Thanks.
Brooke
Oh, my God, I love her. I love our college. There's so many college girlies. That's so fun.
Danielle
I'm dying for someone to bring us back to Athens, Georgia, to, like, do something with the Girls. Not that she goes to Georgia, but, like, to college campuses.
Brooke
Hey, we're a vet.
Danielle
Secret project.
Brooke
We're open. We're open.
Danielle
Wow. I. I feel you so hard. Like, I literally feel like colleges yesterday. We all know that Danielle, stuck in college, whatever. But I. I do know that feeling. But I think one thing is just to make sure that you. And I feel like you are, you know, really, like, doing all the things, saying I said yes to, like, everything, you know, And I. I thought I would look back on senior year and be, like, sad. And sometimes I'm like, oh, my God. But, like, I really look back and I feel like you too. Like, wow, that was so fun.
Brooke
I went so hard that by the end I had to.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
Like. And I think that's the best way to do it.
Danielle
Yeah, that's a good thing.
Brooke
By, like, giving it your all. Like, go out all the time, hang out with your friends a lot. I miss. I miss just, like, sitting on the couch with my friends because it's so hard to get people together now. Like, that's the thing that's the hardest about. Not necessarily those first years right after postgrad. I think think those first few years, it's a little. People are more inclined to be social and stuff, but I think as you get older, it gets more and more challenging to get the gang back together.
Danielle
Yeah. But there really is nothing, like, let me from Per. This is my personal experience. Like, obviously, so much changes. Your lifestyle changes. You're not, like, on a class schedule anymore. However, I don't know what you're doing post grad or anything, but I remember when you went to Oracle, like, it literally was freshman year. Again, like, yeah, there's so much to look forward to too. Like, so many of my friends. Like, my friend works at this huge company and it's like, a ton of people her age. She's got, like, work crushes. Like, it's so fun. So obviously it depends on the situation, but for me, I felt like, you know, I moved here and slowly, so many people from Georgia have started to move up here, and slowly I've made such a community that, like, it's. It's made it quite easy. And I know it's not always that way, but there are little bits of that, like, community feeling you get as you grow up as well.
Brooke
Yeah, totally. I think there's also no. Right. Like, you might feel like, oh, I have to move back to, like, you know, the big city where I'm from, or I have to move to the city where all My friends are moving to like, just know that there's no correct or incorrect path at all. I truly believe that. I think that, you know, you can also move to a city, live there for two years, move again. Like, there's. I think leaving yourself open minded is really critical also. I always say this, do not. If I could give myself advice, I'm really happy with how everything turned out. But I was like so stressed about getting a job senior year.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
And then after I got the job, I like went hard. I was like, wow, life is amazing. Like, you know, now I'm good, but I wish I didn't put that amount of pressure on myself because I think I was doing it for the sake of like, you know, being able to tell everybody like, oh, I have a job, like, but I wasn't doing it for myself, you know.
Danielle
You started pretty quick after graduation.
Brooke
Yes.
Danielle
A month after.
Brooke
And I once again, like, that experience led me to all these, like, I think. And it was good, it was good. But I think I put a lot of pressure on myself on like finding a job senior year. And yeah, it's important. Do the networking, like, do that stuff like, while you're still there if you can. Like as we said, you know, work hard, play hard, like, do that for sure. But like enjoy it. And you can apply to jobs. You know, you can move home for a little bit, apply to jobs and then figure out you don't also have to move right after college. I think that's the thing, people, like, I got to figure out my next move. It's like, you can settle for a second, take a breath before you make your next move.
Danielle
100%. This kind of goes against everything we've said, but I also want to give the contrary because I definitely struggled with this senior year was I said yes to a lot. But there were nights where I feel like my friends would be like, come on, stay out. And I was just tired, you know, and I went home and I don't regret those years later. So, like, there's moments where it's like, if you really want to or if you're worried, like, oh my gosh, I have this, I have that, that, whatever. But if you're like tired, like, you know, just go home.
Brooke
It's fine. No, of course, of course. I also, like, because I had the stamina back then. So like, I was go, I, I. Yeah.
Danielle
But I remember I had that guilt of like, oh my God, like I should enjoy every moment and you should, and you should definitely have that voice in the back of your head, and I'm glad I did. But I feel like there were times I also beat myself up, so I just wanted to give kind of.
Brooke
Yeah, no, that's good.
Danielle
I don't know. That's, like, really to give to say, but, like, you know, it's also okay because there are, you know, so many more days. Like, don't worry. One day. One day in isn't gonna be the worst thing, Especially if it means you're getting rest till party hard the next day.
Brooke
Yeah. And if this is encouraging, I mean, I really liked college, really had a fantastic time. My best friends are from college. Like, I'm, you know, going to my best friend's bachelorette, like, from college. Like, I'm still friends with my friends from college, even though we're here. You know, I've been out of college for more years than I was in college at this point, which is so crazy.
Danielle
Yeah, same.
Brooke
And I have to say, the best years of my life were after college. And I don't know if that's, like, bad to say or whatever, but, like, I want to say that to you to give you hope that, like, I hope you're having an amazing college experience, because I think it will only get better for you.
Danielle
No, I completely agree. Like, life is so fun right now, so.
Brooke
It is.
Danielle
There's so much you have. So you have even more freedom in a way. I mean, you do. You do. You're not.
Brooke
You can eat candy and go for a run. You. At the same time.
Danielle
At the same time, you guys put us out here running to candy shops. Like, you can literally do whatever you want. I live with a boy now. Like, there's so many fun things to look forward to. And I think, like, we both really like to make moments out of everything. So just make moments out of everything. Like, have fun with it.
Brooke
So true.
Danielle
And hopefully. That was good advice from the gals.
Brooke
I think it was. We basically said, live your best life. Yeah. Whatever that means to you.
Danielle
Yeah. Okay, this one's 11 seconds.
Brooke
Oh, see?
Danielle
What do we got here?
Brooke
So every year, I tell myself I'm gonna get better about meal planning, prepping, and just, like, cooking in general. And then every year, I feel like January turns into February and then February to March, and suddenly I'm like, oh, resolution. No, no. But then I. I really have been realizing lately that, like, meals do not have to look one specific way. They just need to fit it. Your life. And I have to tell you, that's what Marley Spoon. They are the experts of Marley Spoon. Actually adapts with you. So some nights you heat up something, some nights you actually cook. Some nights you just, like, need dinner done fast. And they've got options for everything. So these are just meals that, like, fit your schedule. They fit my schedule. I'll tell you that. I love that I can get things that are already prepared for me. And I literally just warmed them up. The chicken, broccoli, cheese crunch, casserole. Oh, my God. It literally tastes like something that, like your mom, your grandma, like, it's so comforting. Like, it tastes like something a family member cooked personally for you. And I love having those, like, on hand just ready to go for like a lunch or a dinner that I'm not feeling like cooking or I run out of time. But I have to tell you guys, like, I. I've been trying to step it up a little bit and cook, and I. I really think I impressed Ben the other night because I made the chicken and bean burritos and they tasted like, like, we both were like, okay, these are amazing. We actually had them for leftovers the next few days because they were so delicious. I feel like everything that Marley Spoon has, like, they just put such, like, unique twists on, like, the classics, but they also have things, you know, like a chicken Milanese and they have other cool things, like, everything, bagels, salmon, like, okay, obsessed. Marley Spoon just makes things ridiculously easy. For example, like the burritos that I made, the chicken came pre cooked, so all I had to do was like, you know, heat it up and whatever. So it just gives you these shortcuts so you're still having, like, home cooked, like, fresh meals. You also are able to like, fit it into your lifestyle. It just, it just makes sense for someone like me. Marley Spoon also has this really cool marketplace, so you can actually get even more, like, meal shortcuts and drinks and like, fresh groceries that you can add on. Every week I added on some fresh fruit because I always like to have like some oranges on hand. Also got some, like, lemons and some like, cheese sticks. I. I love that I can like, get everything on Marley Spoon. Like, it's not just the meals. Like, I can get, like the little extras and things like that too. I love that they give you over 100 recipes to choose from each week. It's just amazing. This year, fast track your way to eating well with Marley Spoon. Head to Marley spoon.com offer/gals on the go for up to 25 free meals. That's right. Up to 25 free meals with Marley spoon. That's Marley spoon.com offer/Gals on the go for up to twenty five free meals. And let me know what you guys are trying for. Marley Spoon, I need to know.
Danielle
Hi, gals.
Caller 1
I love your podcast so much. I look forward to watching it every single week on my commute to school. And my question is, if you weren't doing social media as a career, what do you think you'd be doing instead?
Danielle
Okay. Fun.
Brooke
Yeah. That is so fun.
Danielle
Someone asked me this recently. Were you with me? No, I. So I have an answer.
Brooke
Oh, okay.
Danielle
Well, she said, what do you think you would be doing? So, like, realistically, I guess, what would I want to do? I'd want to be doing, like, theater of some sort.
Brooke
Oh, I so see that for you.
Danielle
But I didn't do that in college, so that wouldn't have made sense. So I'd probably. I'd honestly probably be like a PR girly.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Or like a, you know, on the influencer relations team for a brand or fashion something. I don't know. What about you?
Brooke
Yeah, well, I went into sales and I quickly learned that that was not for me at least like the line of sales that I was in. So honestly, like my dream, like what was always my dream job and stuff was being like a girl boss town and like more so like from a higher level, like giving concepts and giving, like, ideas.
Danielle
And I feel like, yes, I feel.
Brooke
Like I do that with people sometimes.
Danielle
You do that with people. You're always like, free idea.
Brooke
Yeah. I feel like I. Not that I'm as good as she is by any means or even as.
Danielle
But I think, I think that would be really cool.
Brooke
It's fun to like, that's where my marketing degree comes into play. More so like on that end of it, I would say, than the PRN for me.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
Like giving bigger business moves and ideas and stuff. I don't even know what that job title is because I feel like you have to work the lower level stuff before you can get to that.
Danielle
I so see that for you.
Brooke
That's cool. I didn't know maybe, honestly I've. I would probably want to work for myself just because I. I hated having a boss. Honestly, like, I just didn't. That was just not for me. Very quickly learned that. So I probably would like, freelance maybe do some sort of like, consulting for like, small businesses or something.
Danielle
Yeah, I could definitely see that for you for sure. It's like crazy to think, like, how this could have gone if we didn't start our YouTube channels. It's it's like, really trippy to think about sometimes, honestly. Okay, here we go.
Caller 1
Hi, Danielle and Brooke, I am calling with like a question and I just kind of want your guys's like, input on this situation. It happened a couple years ago and so my best friend at the time got engaged and she was planning her bachelor, like, bachelorette party and she decided to do like a co ed one with like her like a bachelor and bachelor party combined. I didn't know any of like her fiance's friends and they decided to rent a house in the middle of nowhere and we were all going to stay there for the weekend. I honestly felt uncomfortable because, like, I had a boyfriend at the time. I didn't know any of the guys there and I thought under the same roof. It's just kind of weird. Like a bunch of strangers. So I asked if I could bring my boyfriend if it was co ed and she. I told her made me uncomfortable and she said no. And then she uninvited me to her wedding and stopped being my friend. And I just thought it was kind of weird. But I don't know what's your guys's input or intake on that. I love you guys so much. Have a great day.
Brooke
Oh, my God. That's crazy. That took a turn.
Danielle
I was not where I saw it going. I thought she was gonna meet someone on the trip.
Brooke
Yeah. Or just opinion on. I think that she's very fair in saying, you know, that I'm just not comfortable with that. Like staying in a house with like, you know, guys that I don't know when I have a boyfriend. I think that that's extremely valid. I think you can say that to your friend. I think that she even has the right, unfortunately, to say no to you bringing your boyfriend because. Yeah.
Danielle
Because there's probably other people who. Then it's like, well, why can't I bring mine? And that's the thing with co ed bachelorettes, I think. Yeah. Then it's a mix of guys and girls and it's a little like. Yeah.
Brooke
And then you're missing, like you're missing your person the whole time.
Danielle
Or they're jealous you're in a house with boys. Like, I don't. I won't be doing that just because of that. I think co ed bachelor or bachelorettes are fun when that's the same thing. When, like, it's a big friend group of people that all know each other. I think that's like the best situation. But I mean, the fact that she uninvited the wedding Insane that's making me think there was more to it or something. Like, like she, like. I mean, I don't know, but I just think that's a little insane on her part.
Brooke
I don't know if you're still, like, thinking about it because, like, it was insane or because, like, you miss this person, but I. I think that you steered clear of some.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
Major red flags, it seems. If they were willing to cut you out like that, then that's.
Danielle
No. I. It like brooke said, It's 100% valid that you felt that way. It's 100. Okay that you asked. Asked. But it's also okay that she said no.
Brooke
But the uninvite is what's throwing me off.
Danielle
No, the uninvite to the wedding is not. But just to make you feel clear, like, you shouldn't feel bad that you asked that. And the uninviting to the wedding thing is actually crazy. I'm not in my bridal era. I am sure that when I am, there will be moments of like when they say bride, bridezilla. You know, maybe she had some moments like, ah, eff it. Like, you know, but it's upsetting because it's like, okay, our whole friendship over that. I don't know how long you guys were friends, but. But that is really hurtful and really upsetting.
Brooke
Yeah, it is.
Danielle
Ask her to talk.
Brooke
I'm not a fan of the coed, I don't think. I mean, I've never been on one, to be fair, but, like, I'm so excited to go on these bachelor rides because I feel like I don't get time with my friends like this anymore.
Danielle
No, I.
Brooke
Where it's girls trip energy. Because at the wedding, you bring. You bring your date to the wedding.
Danielle
You bring the date to the wedding. I have a whole thing with girls trips, guys trips. I was talking to Ryan about this because he was like, bringing up up these people. He's like, what if we did, like a group trip with them? Because he's like, friends with the guys. I'm like, what if you did a guy strip? Like, girls, we. I feel like girls are so good about. Even if it's not bachelorettes. Like, I feel like we're so good about, like, let's do a trip or, you know, I feel like that's more common. And guys, it's like, I feel like they don't feel as comfortable unless it's like a golf trip or a ski. And I think we need to normalize guys going on trips because that way the Girls don't have to get dragged into it every time.
Brooke
Yeah. You know what I mean?
Danielle
Like, so I think that's also why sometimes co ed bad and bachelorettes happen because the guys are perfect, the girls are planning it, you know, because the girls, we hold everything down. I don't know. That might be crazy to say, but that's my opinion.
Brooke
My opinion is also, you know, you're celebrating, like, at all of the other occasions, the engagement, the wedding, arguably even the bridal shower, you're celebrating the marriage. Right. Like, you're like, oh, the unity of these two. The bachelorette, in my opinion, like, you're celebrating her, like.
Danielle
Yeah. Her last hurrah, they say.
Brooke
Yeah. I don't even see it that way. Like, I see it almost like a birthday weekend. Like, in my eye, guys, I'm like, bachelor and birthday are, like, synonymous, even though they're totally different, obviously. But, yeah, that I think that she deserves her moment too.
Danielle
Yeah, she deserves her moment.
Brooke
That idea. But that's. If you do it and it works, that's fine. That's just my opinion.
Danielle
No, it's actually. It raises an interesting point. Like, if I was invited on a.
Brooke
Co ed, I know. What would you do?
Danielle
You do?
Brooke
I probably, knowing me, depending on how close. If they were really, really close friend, I probably would just suck it up and go and just. Just explain the situation to Ben. I really don't see Ben getting mad in a situation like that, though. If you especially. You're not sharing a room.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
Which I. I would not sign. I would not sign up to go on a trip like that. Not knowing the room assignments. I would want to know the room assignments.
Danielle
Confirm the room assignments. What the. Is. Are there two houses or is it one big house? Is it hotel rooms?
Brooke
You know, like, if it was you and I were two, like, going, and like, we could share a room, like 100. I'm going, like, easy.
Danielle
We have each other. But yeah, I'm not. I mean, it's so funny. The thing on the. Like, if Ryan was going on, I'd.
Brooke
Be like, that's a little weird. I know. I would be like, that's not ideal. Just because I'm jealous and I want to be there. Like, I want to be a part of the fun. Like, if, you know, you're. No, it's.
Danielle
It's not ideal.
Brooke
It's not ideal.
Danielle
It's not ideal. It's. But yeah. I wonder if, like, being on a co ed one makes it more tame in a way or not. Because the bride and groom Are together, you know, Because I hear stories of people, like, making out with other people. I will not be doing that.
Brooke
Oh, my God. No.
Danielle
People do, though, I think.
Brooke
No, I know that they do. Yeah. I. I never saw it that way. I saw it like, either. I saw, like, I'm gonna wear cute outfits. I'm gonna take some cute pictures and, like, we're gonna get bottle service or whatever. Like, I don't know.
Danielle
And maybe one of my friends will meet someone and.
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
And we're celebrating femininity and being all together. But it's not like, like, genuinely your last hurrah. Like, let me get it all in this weekend before I. What? The last penis or whatever.
Brooke
Like, I don't feel the need to like. Like, I made out with strangers when I was like 14 at like, the B concert. Like, I don't need to. I got that. I got. Yeah. Never forget already. Already got that out of my system.
Danielle
Got that out. Like, no, I don't need a dance form. I don't need any more dance for makeup. With no one. Anyone else?
Brooke
Yeah.
Danielle
Yeah. With anyone. I. I don't need to do that. So I don't know, to be fair.
Brooke
Yeah. Wow, that was really an interesting one. Should we do one more to end it or just really brief.
Danielle
There is one. 27 second blast. Hi, Danielle and Brooke. Been a big fan of the show since high school and now I'm out of college if that's crazy.
Caller 1
I have recently been through a friendship breakup that I feel like I'm finally turning a corner.
Danielle
But I think it's really hard get.
Caller 1
Myself back out there again to, like, kind of fully trust in people.
Danielle
So any tips you have on that would be great. Love you guys. Bye.
Brooke
Oh, my God, my heart.
Danielle
I'm really sorry.
Brooke
The fact that you're even self aware enough to ask that shows me that this was a blip on the screen situation and that that's not like you as a friend because clearly you are someone who is.
Danielle
Yeah.
Brooke
Self aware, mindful. You sound kind like, you sound kind.
Danielle
The first thing that comes to my mind is kind of thinking about the people that are in your life right now and what friendships you want to foster more. I feel like I do that in my personal life. I'm like, oh, you know, that person keep. Keeps coming to my heart, you know, Like, I'd love to be around them more and just try and foster those, you know, and just kind of lean in to new friendships more and just. Or think about, like, who's in your life that you Want to spend more time with. With.
Brooke
It sounds like she needs, like, a confidence boost. Like, I feel like she wants that. That's what I took from that. Like, that she. Like that we need to gas her up and just be like, you're. You're good. Like, you know, like, you friend. There's a lot of friendship shifts, I feel like, in your 20s and things like that. Like, things definitely get shook up. So you're not. It's not a strange thing. Like, it's not.
Danielle
There is. There are people in my life or that were in my life that I thought they'd be a bridesmaid, and they are not. And it's crazy, but I'm so. Okay. Like, I'm so. You know, and, like, we still have so much love for each other, but it is crazy. And I thought it'd be the end of the world, and it's totally not.
Brooke
I completely agree. I think. I'm sorry that you feel that way, but I would say that, you know, that's one situation and not, like, a blanket statement on, like, you and friendships and stuff. And also, I feel like if a friendship ended like that, then, like, you just probably weren't meant to be friends.
Danielle
That's how I think it was gonna happen, one way or another. I really enjoyed Howling.
Brooke
Go. We need a original. Drake should come back.
Danielle
Drake should come.
Brooke
We should have Drake make an appearance on the pod and he could do a gals remix.
Danielle
I would literally love nothing more. We love you guys so much. We care so much about each and every one of you. It gets us so excited when you DM us. Like, when's the new episode coming out? You know, I mean, obviously, you know, it's on Wednesdays, but, like, love the excitement. Regardless, this. Thank you so much for all the support. Constantly. And we love you guys. We love you. We'll see you next week.
Brooke
Bye. Bye.
