Justin Davis
We end this once and for all together on December 25th.
Nick Limone
We have a plan. It's a bit insane. Everyone in he knows where we are.
Guest or Narrator (possibly a poet or musician)
Watch out.
Justin Davis
Get ready for one last adventure.
Nick Limone
We stay true to ourselves, stay true to our friends.
Damon Hatfield
No matter the cost.
Justin Davis
Found you. Stranger Things Season 5, Volume 2 begins December 25th only on Netflix.
Damon Hatfield
What's up, everybody? Welcome to a very special edition of IGN gamescope. Sort of a yearly tradition this has become. This is our yearly 100 questions challenge that we always do the week of Thanksgiving. I'm your host, Damon Hatfield. Joining me here in studio is Nick Limone.
Nick Limone
I'm back, baby.
Damon Hatfield
And Justin Davis is here as well.
Justin Davis
Scoot.
Damon Hatfield
We got a small crew. Only two of you. Only two of you take on this challenge today.
Nick Limone
It's a lot of nervous.
Damon Hatfield
It's a lot of questions. It's like you made a whole Thanksgiving feast and then there's only two people. Eat it all.
Justin Davis
That's so sad.
Nick Limone
Hope you guys I got room though. My tummy's rumbling and I'm hungry.
Damon Hatfield
Sam is in Tokyo. Mark got sick. Per is not here. I reached out to Seth Macy. He's on Vacation already. There's just. There's kind of a skeleton crew right here on the Tuesday of the week of Thanksgiving. And obviously we have Thursday and Friday off, but then even tomorrow, Wednesday. Not a lot of. Not a lot of.
Nick Limone
I don't know what you're talking about. I'm gonna be working 24. 7 for the next 24 hours.
Justin Davis
Yeah, but you should pour one out and keep your local commerce editors in your thoughts and prayers, because the commerce editors are ramping up.
Damon Hatfield
Absolutely. Working this week for sure.
Nick Limone
Click those affiliate links, y'. All.
Damon Hatfield
Yep. So 100 questions. What's that?
Justin Davis
We get 50 questions a piece?
Damon Hatfield
Yeah, that's. You could look at it that way, sure. 100 questions. Everyone knows 20 questions. This is that times five. I've picked five games. Five games that are suggested by Scoop Nation. 100 questions total. Nick, have you done this version of the game before?
Nick Limone
Yeah, I've done this before. I think. I think once.
Damon Hatfield
Okay. Yeah. So for everyone out there listening and watching. Thank you. They have a hundred questions total. That means if they guess a game in fewer than 20 questions, they've banked extra questions, and they can. So that you can end up asking 30 questions on. On. On one game. If, if, if. That's how long it takes you. So a hundred questions total. And you always have the option to.
Justin Davis
If.
Damon Hatfield
If you're just. If you're burning questions and you're not getting anywhere close to it, you have the option to just skip. Skip it. Move on to the next game. Maybe there'll be time to revisit that one at the end. It's up to you guys. 100 questions.
Justin Davis
We can just skip.
Damon Hatfield
What's that?
Justin Davis
The loophole. We'll just skip all five and then we can just all knock off early and go get some.
Damon Hatfield
There's that too short episode this week. If you get all five, you will win a great feeling of satisfaction. Ooh, yeah.
Justin Davis
For any banked questions that we have left at the end, then we get to ask Damon questions, and then he has to tell the truth no matter what they are.
Damon Hatfield
Oh, yeah. Okay. So banked questions go into truth or dare.
Justin Davis
For me, they become truth or dare.
Damon Hatfield
Hey, it's only fair. Well, let's kick things off then. Our first one. First game comes from Mark in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Okay, Mark from Winston Salem, North Carolina. He has a little anecdote that I'll share after the game is revealed. So with that, let the questioning begin.
Justin Davis
We don't get the pre question anecdote.
Damon Hatfield
It's. It's it's spoilery.
Justin Davis
Okay, okay, okay. Before. This is not one of my 100 questions.
Damon Hatfield
Okay.
Justin Davis
Based off the five games, Damon, do you think we'll win?
Damon Hatfield
Yes. I really think you'll have nobody to blame. There's one in here. Okay. Four out of five I think are. And one of them is just a little bit. You know, I think we've talked about every game on this list at some point on gamescoop.
Justin Davis
Cool. Got it. Got it. Okay, understood. Don't tell us which one is, like, borderline hard mode.
Damon Hatfield
I will figure it out.
Justin Davis
Okay. Did this game come out in the 70s, 80s, or 90s?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Nick Limone
Is this game made in Japan? Yes, Japanese.
Justin Davis
Is this game exclusive to a console when it first came out?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Nick Limone
Is this game on Nintendo consoles?
Damon Hatfield
Nope.
Justin Davis
Is it exclusive to the. To a PlayStation console?
Damon Hatfield
Yes. That is five 95 questions to go.
Nick Limone
I don't like.
Justin Davis
I don't like it. I don't like it that way. Just something about it.
Nick Limone
You know? What effort is this on the PlayStation 4?
Damon Hatfield
It. It. Well, A version of this. A version of this is on PlayStation 4.
Nick Limone
Okay. So that means it's maybe it's like, through, like, PlayStation now or something.
Justin Davis
I think it's Metal Gear Solid 4.
Nick Limone
Okay. Is this a conam.
Justin Davis
Hold on, hold on, hold on. Yeah, I don't know if I actually. Was that game on Xbox. I don't even know.
Nick Limone
Metal Gear Solid four was not never. But it is ported forever. Correct. And actually it's not been ported to anything, so it's only on the PS3. Metal Gear Solid 4.
Justin Davis
Specifically on the PS3 or PS4.
Nick Limone
It's only on the PS3. It's never been ported to anything else, so that one actually would not apply.
Justin Davis
Maybe it's metal gear solid 5.
Nick Limone
Thank you for saving me for myself.
Justin Davis
Full disclosure, that's. When I said four, I meant five.
Nick Limone
Gotcha.
Justin Davis
But wasn't. Okay. Anyway, we can. We can get off this topic. Was this game developed or published by Sony?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Justin Davis
All right, well, that's that PS3, maybe. PS4 exclusive. Developed or published by Sony. Made in Japan. I don't know. Shadow of the Colossus, Last Guardian.
Nick Limone
Yeah, there's like that dual pack that got remastered.
Justin Davis
Is this game part of a series or franchise?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Justin Davis
Yeah, looking good.
Nick Limone
Is this game from a studio that still exists? Well, because Studio Japan no longer exists, but Fumito Ueda is making a new game.
Damon Hatfield
Got him.
Nick Limone
No, I think we. I think we're in studio Japan, baby.
Justin Davis
All right.
Nick Limone
Has this game been remade by Bluepoint Games?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Nick Limone
Okay, so it's the Shadow of the Colossus. Shadow of the Colossus. It does it.
Justin Davis
We think it's.
Nick Limone
Yeah. Does it matter?
Justin Davis
It's the original.
Nick Limone
Well, do. Does it matter if it's the original or if it's the remake? Are we calling these two different games? Technically.
Justin Davis
Does this game. Is this like a great game, but does it run at like 12 FPS?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Nick Limone
Okay.
Justin Davis
Okay. Is it Shadow of the Colossus for the PS2?
Damon Hatfield
Shadow of the Colossus. PS2. Yeah, there you go. Original Shadow of the Colossus. Got there in 12 questions.
Justin Davis
8.
Nick Limone
I feel pretty strong right now, Justin.
Justin Davis
Yeah. I wonder if it's hard. I've never thought about this when I was. But like in Damon's shoes, when we're busy spoofing and goofing the whole time, I wonder if it's hard to keep track of the number of questions.
Damon Hatfield
I've always got them on my hands.
Nick Limone
Yeah, you don't see it. It's just off frame. But I've been looking at those hands.
Justin Davis
Yeah, I forgot about that water Colossus.
Nick Limone
This is like one of my favorite ones. It's such a cool arena.
Damon Hatfield
Mark says when this game originally came out on PS2, I really didn't understand the hype. It chugged and seemed so empty. But as an older gamer now and experiencing the remake, it is now one of my all time favorites. It's easy to just pick up after a hard day of work, take down a Colossus, then put it down. Simple and fun while also being gorgeous to look at.
Nick Limone
Amen.
Justin Davis
Okay, never mind. I'm not going to make the joke I was thinking about making.
Damon Hatfield
Okay, Okay, a couple fun facts. Do you know what the code name for this game was during development?
Justin Davis
No.
Damon Hatfield
I think this is very cute. Is codenamed Nico in ICO because spiritual successor to ICO and NI means two in Japanese.
Nick Limone
That's cute.
Damon Hatfield
Very, very cute.
Nick Limone
Very cute.
Damon Hatfield
What's up, everybody? We are rolling into the holiday season, which means eating and drinking all sorts of wonderful sweets, treats and good things like that. All of which might throw a monkey wrench into whatever semblance of a normal diet you have the rest of the year. So if you'd like to offset the nutritional chaos you're subjecting your body to during all the fun festivities, let me tell you about AG1. AG1 NextGen is a daily health drink clinically shown to support gut health and fill in common nutrient gaps. It's got five probiotic strains and over 75 vitamins and minerals, which means it replaces the need for a multivitamin protein, probiotics and more. In addition to all the fun holiday merriment, this is also the time of year when the weather gets worse and everything gets darker. AG1's superfoods and B vitamins support your steady energy levels at a time when you probably just want to hibernate. It's also the time of year when everyone starts coughing and sneezing at each other and doing all sorts of gross stuff like that. AG1's got you covered with antioxidants, probiotics, and functional mushrooms that support immune resilience. Isn't that right, Max?
Max (AG1 spokesperson)
AG1 sent me some samples to try out, which I've been taking every day in lieu of my usual fistful of multivitamins that smell like a pet store, that this is an infinitely preferable way of making sure I'm getting all the nutrients and gut stuff that I need. AG1's got tropical berry and citrus flavors which taste great mixed with water, but you can also mix them with juice or throw them in a smoothie if you're feeling frisky. As for the actual ingredients, AG1 is continually investing in rigorous gold standard peer reviewed clinical trials to create the healthiest product possible.
Damon Hatfield
Thanks, max. Head to drinkag1.com gamescoop to get a free welcome kit with an AG1 flavor sampler and a bottle of vitamin D3K2 when you first subscribe. That's drinkag1.com Gamescoop.

Damon Hatfield
All right, you guys are in good shape. 12 questions in. Next suggestion comes from Thwarted Junk. Who says this is definitely one of my favorite redacted games to date.
Justin Davis
Yeah, you gotta be careful though, because the redacted could be favorite games to hate on because it's terrible. You never know.
Damon Hatfield
Let the questioning continue.
Justin Davis
Okay. Did this game come out in the 70s, 80s or 90s?
Damon Hatfield
No. Okay.
Nick Limone
It's another modern. Is this a game? Is this game exclusive to the Xbox series of consoles?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Nick Limone
Okay. Sorry, that was a bad.
Justin Davis
You're trying to. You're out here trying to metagame. There's no. There's no connection between the five. It's Five random. It's just chaos out here. There's no system. Okay, was this game made in Japan?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Nick Limone
Okay.
Justin Davis
Was this game made in the United States?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Justin Davis
Uh, oh, okay. Yeah. I mean, that basically confirms it's. It's a rare game. A late, late Nintendo era rare game.
Nick Limone
But late. I mean, that would be.
Justin Davis
What, though? It's ukulele?
Nick Limone
I don't know.
Justin Davis
I mean, maybe, maybe, maybe Nintendo. Maybe rare didn't make any Nintendo games after 2000. Maybe they were all done. No, it's Star Fox Adventures. That's what it is.
Nick Limone
Let's see. Is this game in the PS2 GameCube Xbox line of hardware?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Justin Davis
Okay, Rip. So it's a little more modern. Could still be Yooka Laylee.
Nick Limone
It could be Banjo Kazooie, Nuts and Bolts. But that is exclusive to Xbox.
Justin Davis
That's why I don't know if. I don't know if I actually think it's a rare game. But not made in America, not made in Japan. Could be Korean.
Nick Limone
I mean, it could be Australian. Team Bondi.
Justin Davis
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right. Good call. Okay. Okay, okay, okay. What did you just ask?
Nick Limone
It's not a PS2, Xbox or Gamecube era game.
Justin Davis
Okay, what about the next generation PS3? Xbox 360, I guess.
Nick Limone
Wii, Xbox One and then.
Justin Davis
Oh, my bad. Yeah, my bad.
Nick Limone
All right. No, we.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah, Wait, not Xbox One.
Nick Limone
Sorry, brain.
Damon Hatfield
Are you asking 360. Yeah, you're asking if it's 360. 360 generation, correct? Yes.
Nick Limone
Okay.
Justin Davis
Okay. So maybe it is Team Bandai. It could be La Noire.
Nick Limone
La Noire. Yeah. I don't know why we always latch onto this. Yep. It's got to be this one game.
Justin Davis
I just like to do it.
Nick Limone
Is this.
Justin Davis
I'm addicted to like the one time in my life that it was that.
Nick Limone
You're calling your shot ever since. Is this an open world game?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Nick Limone
Oh, maybe it is. La Noire. Damn.
Justin Davis
Yeah, I feel like we just had that or maybe we thought it was like just.
Nick Limone
Just cause is also like that. That got its start during this era. And I believe that's a European based studio, Avalanche Studios, which I believe is like Swedish or something.
Justin Davis
Are they. Are they. Are they making What? Hogwarts Legacy 2. Is that them?
Nick Limone
No, that's Portkey Games. That's WB Games. Is that okay? Yeah, they also did Mad Max.
Justin Davis
I think Nobody, nobody knows. It could be Mad Max. By the way, if it was them.
Nick Limone
360 ERA. Saints Row. You got your just causes. You got your LA Noir, your GTA 4. Which Rockstar?
Justin Davis
What about. What about just GTA?
Nick Limone
I mean, Rockstar is what, They're Scottish, right? I mean, would they still be considered a Scott? Yeah, right, because Rockstar North. No, Rockstar North.
Justin Davis
Well, I mean, yeah.
Nick Limone
So now I'm getting in my head. Get out of my head.
Justin Davis
Okay, so it's. It's open world. It's PS3, 360 generation. Is this game part of a series?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Nick Limone
Let's see, what's the. Does this game focus on, like, street level crimes? What? That's Grand Theft Auto and Saint show right there. Oh, I guess that'd be La Noire too. Damn, that was a bad question.
Damon Hatfield
Yes. Okay, this game focuses on street level crimes.
Nick Limone
So it's not just cause. Cause then that's like international stuff.
Justin Davis
I don't think that was that bad of a question. It eliminates Mad Max. It eliminates just cause.
Nick Limone
David's making a look now, which makes me think it's just cause. Is there a grappler hook in this game?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Nick Limone
Okay. It's not just cause.
Damon Hatfield
That's 10 questions.
Nick Limone
I had to get it out of my system. I'm sorry, Justin.
Damon Hatfield
Ten questions into this game.
Justin Davis
That's fine.
Nick Limone
Okay. Saints Row, Louisiana And Grand Theft Auto. Is there any other things that we're missing? Any like glaring omission, street level crime? I guess just wait. Crackdown.
Justin Davis
Yeah, except that's an exclusive. Oh, we don't. I don't think we know if this is an exclusive. Well, we know this game. Multi platform.
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Nick Limone
All right, so It's LA Noire. GTA.
Justin Davis
I think it is probably GTA 5.
Nick Limone
Is this game.
Justin Davis
That's my guess.
Nick Limone
Does. Let's see.
Justin Davis
Did this game get 10 out of 10? Well, hold on. I know we're not allowed to use our computers, but I'm gonna.
Nick Limone
Hold on. We can narrow. We can narrow it down. We can narrow it down. Is this set in a fictionalized New York?
Damon Hatfield
No. Okay, hold on.
Justin Davis
That's GTA 4.
Nick Limone
Yeah, exactly. So it's not. So it's. It's gotta be.
Justin Davis
No, I said GTA 5.
Nick Limone
Oh, shit. Damn it. Okay, so we. Now we just know la. It's either. It's either. It's either GTA 5, LA Noir, or a Saints Row game.
Justin Davis
I like that you've narrowed it down to these three. There are dozens and dozens of other open world games that it could be. I mean, I think that those three.
Nick Limone
Are the most likely, but street level crimes?
Justin Davis
Did this. Did this game get a 10 out of 10 from ignore.
Guest or Narrator (possibly a poet or musician)
No.
Justin Davis
All right. Not GTA. Five did this game. I don't know how to narrow down Saints Row. I mean they got silly, they got sillier and sillier as they went.
Nick Limone
And we know. And we know it's a part of a series, right? You asked that question earlier.
Justin Davis
Yeah. Yeah.
Nick Limone
So Saints row. Saints Row 1 is a launch 3, 6 like launch era. Saints Row 2 has an insurance fraud mini game. That's all I know about that.
Justin Davis
I don't think was that. You don't think that. I think that game was made in the United States.
Nick Limone
Saints Row.
Justin Davis
Yeah.
Nick Limone
Isn't that Volition? I. I think.
Justin Davis
I don't even know. I can't even tell you. And then what was the third series you thought it might be?
Nick Limone
Oh, it was Crack. Crackdown was the last one that I came in. It's not that.
Justin Davis
Is this game? Is this game. It's part of a series. Okay, nevermind. I'm not going to ask what I was about to ask which is is it based on a license at this.
Damon Hatfield
Point you should use your hack. The hack.
Justin Davis
Have we mentioned the name of this game?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Nick Limone
Oh shit. Okay.
Justin Davis
I guess there's like L A Noire. Not L A Noir. Not Saints Row. No, I mean not anything we've mentioned. So I don't it being part of a series because there was also like the Godfather and like Scarface and like weird open world games from that era. But they're not. But they're not part of a series.
Nick Limone
Mafia.
Justin Davis
I think it's one of. Yeah, that's a pretty good call. Could be Mafia too.
Nick Limone
Street level crime. It fits. It's multi plat.
Justin Davis
Was. Is this game set in a historical time period?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Nick Limone
Okay. Not a mafia game.
Damon Hatfield
That's 15 questions on this round.
Justin Davis
RIP.
Nick Limone
I feel like we're on the cusp of it. We're like right there. Let's see.
Damon Hatfield
Street level crime.
Justin Davis
Is there a superhero game?
Nick Limone
Yeah.
Justin Davis
Is this a superhero game?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Nick Limone
What other street level crime games are there? It's part of a series.
Justin Davis
There's Sleeping Dogs, but that's not. That's not part of a series.
Nick Limone
You're right.
Justin Davis
It's a great game though.
Nick Limone
It is a good game.
Justin Davis
There was those two. Oh, but it's not licensed. There was the. The what? The kung fu games.
Nick Limone
Did we ask if it was? I don't think you actually asked the license question. Did you? I think.
Justin Davis
Well, but I guess I'm just. I'm assuming it's not because it's part Of a series. And how many license games got multiple things that are not superhero themed. But there was like, you know, I'm just this, like, weird. There was like, you know, Jet Li had a game back then, a bunch of weird stuff. Jackie Chan. There was Mark Echoes Getting up. You remember that game, Damon? That's a good game.
Damon Hatfield
I never played it.
Nick Limone
360 era.
Justin Davis
I don't know if it was actually good. I. You know, it was. Okay.
Damon Hatfield
Street level crimes.
Justin Davis
Why do you keep repeating that?
Damon Hatfield
Why do I.
Nick Limone
Street. True crime. Streets of LA. No, that's PS2.
Justin Davis
Yeah, that could.
Nick Limone
That's PS2 era.
Justin Davis
Yeah, but there was. But there was a sequel. There was true crime.
Nick Limone
Streets of New York. But it's not something.
Justin Davis
It's not what.
Nick Limone
But that's. It's not modern. It's not a fictionalized New York, though, remember?
Justin Davis
Oh, we did specifically ask New York.
Nick Limone
Oh, man. Maybe the name Street Streets. Street level Crime. Is that in the thing? Is that in the title?
Justin Davis
I was thinking about, like, we. So it's open World. But then I was thinking it might not be like. It could be like. What was the open world racing game that Rockstar made? Midnight.
Nick Limone
Midnight.
Justin Davis
Midnight Club. And then. And then I was thinking about stuff like that or like, you know, Forza Horizon. Although that's not crime. Except technically speeding is crime.
Nick Limone
Need for Speed.
Justin Davis
Yeah. Need for Speed. Hot.
Nick Limone
That's like Panado.
Justin Davis
Something like that. I don't think Damon would do that to us.
Nick Limone
But it's an open world game.
Justin Davis
Yeah, like an open world racing game.
Nick Limone
Do we want to ask if it's a racing game?
Justin Davis
No. Are you running around on foot mostly in this game?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Justin Davis
Okay, okay, okay. We're on to something. Maybe it's Midnight Club.
Nick Limone
Is this.
Justin Davis
That was Rockstar. I don't remember which Rockstar Studio.
Nick Limone
I mean, this was before they went like. I mean, it could be.
Justin Davis
Is this a racing game?
Damon Hatfield
Yes, it is.
Justin Davis
It mid.
Nick Limone
Dude. Midnight Club. Three Dub Edition.
Justin Davis
Yeah. See, I don't know. Did they even make. I didn't even know that they made three of them. I could only remember one and two. I don't know when they came out.
Nick Limone
Midnight.
Justin Davis
I don't know if Midnight Club 3.
Nick Limone
Dub edition, I believe, would have been this era.
Justin Davis
I don't know if there's a racing game that has more to do with crime than, you know, you could. Like, they're all a little bit about crime because street racing is illegal. But like, the need for Speeds literally have you evading the police.
Nick Limone
Need for Speed. Most Wanted was like an Xbox 360 launch title, I believe. Launch window that was.
Justin Davis
And I wonder if. Do you think maybe Criterion Crit made that? Who's not?
Nick Limone
That would be United States. That'd be Burnout Revenge. And that was a PS2 game.
Justin Davis
But what about Burnout Paradise? That's Open World Burn.
Nick Limone
Oh, yeah. That is open World and that's that era.
Justin Davis
Was this game published by ea?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Nick Limone
So it could be this game.
Justin Davis
Burnout Paradise.
Nick Limone
Yes. All right.
Damon Hatfield
On 20 questions.
Nick Limone
Okay.
Damon Hatfield
Street level crimes.
Justin Davis
Yeah, thanks. Damon's helping us out.
Damon Hatfield
I know, I know. This is great.
Justin Davis
I replayed. I forget. I already forget that I replayed Burnout 2. I was going to say recently. I'm realizing now it was last holiday break, so almost a year ago and just a fantastic game. Just so great. I mean, I think paradise is deeply disappointing to me.
Nick Limone
Oh, I love Paradise. I love Paradise. I think Takedown's my personal favorite. And then Revenge. But I do think that Burnout paradise has probably my first like two minutes of a video game ever where you're in the loading screen and then Paradise City starts playing and then the game just seamlessly rolls into it and you just begin racing. Pretty sick opening.
Justin Davis
Yeah. No, I mean all of that stuff's great. And the promise of like, you know, anything, any intersection is a new event and then it's all racetracks and it's all just free flowing and go whatever you want. But it's like so killed by like not having a restart option, like not having.
Damon Hatfield
No crash mode. And I just love the arcade nature of what Burnout was.
Nick Limone
Before that they were playing some Burnout 3 takedown recently just for funsies. Good time.
Damon Hatfield
Good. I don't, I don't. This is like an example of like these games did not have to go away. I don't know. Why are these games just not being made today?
Nick Limone
Revolutionary feature, the aftertouch. Your car's already exploded. You can still just move it around because. Why not? It's more fun.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah, because it's more fun.
Justin Davis
Well, and then so Burnout. Burnout's gone. And yet Forza Horizon is one of the biggest video game franchises on the planet. Right? And it's like somebody, somebody messed up somewhere.
Nick Limone
Give me a crash mode in Forza Horizon. Come on.
Damon Hatfield
They got to get the, the licensees they got.
Nick Limone
They got to get Lexus to sign.
Damon Hatfield
Off on that Florida junk. Says I used to spend days inside a GameStop because my mom worked a few stores down from them enough for the employees to joke about charging me rent and I would play the demo of Burnout paradise repeatedly at a PC station. They had three. Definitely one of my favorite racing games to date.
Nick Limone
I think one of the first games that also had in game online advertising. I think Barack Obama ran ads.
Justin Davis
Whoa.
Damon Hatfield
Burnout Paradise. That's funny because it came out in 08, which would have been. That was an election.
Justin Davis
There was a startup. I can't remember the name of the company now, but that was their thing was if your game was online, the. The billboards in the game could change and you could buy like buy the.
Nick Limone
Ad space in game advertising in a racing game. Makes sense to me.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah. It was 2008 for 360 PS3 and PC. It was remastered in 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One. And then that version came to the switch in 2020.
Nick Limone
Nice.
Damon Hatfield
And criterion is not around anymore or.
Nick Limone
I think it's still around, but I'm not sure what they've been doing.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah.
Justin Davis
Didn't they get like subsumed into like dice and stuff like that?
Nick Limone
Yeah, I think they're a part of Battlefield now, if I'm not mistaken. That sounds right to me.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah. Or did they do Battlefront?
Nick Limone
Yeah, I think so.
Damon Hatfield
All right, all right, all right.
Justin Davis

Damon Hatfield
Okay, we guys are still in good shape. 32 questions in.
Nick Limone
You still have two games down.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah, two games down. You still have eight banked questions. Let's move on to round. Oh, I think I skipped. Wait, no, I didn't write. They're fine. Round three. This is Tom from Corning, New York, and they've suggested a 20 question game that they can't believe hasn't been used before.
Nick Limone
Never used before.
Justin Davis
Never been used before. Did this game come out in the 70s, 80s or 90s?
Damon Hatfield
Yes. Okay.
Justin Davis
Was this game released on the original NES?
Guest or Narrator (possibly a poet or musician)
No.
Nick Limone
Is this game in the Super Nintendo?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Nick Limone
Oh, SEGA or arcade.
Justin Davis
Was this game originally released for the Sega Genesis?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Nick Limone
Oh, man. This is a bit of a blind spot for me. All right, let's see if we can do this.
Justin Davis
But it's interesting that it's Genesis and not Super Nintendo. So, you know, we got that going for us. Was it developed or published by sega?
Damon Hatfield
Yes, that's fine.
Nick Limone
Vector Man. It's Vectorman.
Justin Davis
I think. I think Vectorman's a super plausible guess.
Nick Limone
That's like one of the Genesis games I've played.
Justin Davis
It's also very possible that over all of 20 questions, like we've never had Sonic 3, you know, or something like that. Like, Damon doesn't often like to do sequels, but you know, sometimes, I mean.
Nick Limone
Is this game part of a series?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Nick Limone
Okay, maybe it's Sonic. The Sonic dream is still alive.
Justin Davis
Yeah. Well, to be fair, there's two Vectormans.
Nick Limone
Oh, I only played the first one.
Justin Davis
Yeah, everybody only played the first one because the second one's not that great. I have a real soft spot in my heart for Vector Man. Good game. Yeah, it is a good game. And he. He goes, whoa. When he gets up to a great.
Nick Limone
Splash screen on that SEGA screen where you get to just see Vector splash.
Justin Davis
And you can destroy the whole logo and stuff. Okay. Was this game made by Sonic Team?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Justin Davis
Is this game Star Robot?
Damon Hatfield
Yeah, dude.
Nick Limone
Is it Vector Man? Is the vector.
Justin Davis
We don't know which one. Is this the first game in a series?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Justin Davis
All right, well, I don't. You can do it. I just want to take a second to think about it because there might be other robot games. It's like Fantasy Star four Star. Like a robot or like something. I think.
Nick Limone
Can we ask if it features vectors?
Justin Davis
I think it's. I think we. I think we're probably safe. I think we're good to go.
Nick Limone
I'm gonna. Should I do it?
Justin Davis
Do it.
Nick Limone
Is it Vector Man?
Damon Hatfield
Sure is. Vector man from the three point line?
Nick Limone
Yeah.
Damon Hatfield
And you had that like, like question four, you said it's Vectorman, dude.
Nick Limone
Great boss. Look at how good this game looks.
Justin Davis
Is the boss of the first level. This was Sega, I think Blue sky. It was defunct. They're not in business anymore.
Damon Hatfield
They software.
Justin Davis
And. And so it was never like officially. I was about to say it was their answer to Donkey Kong country, but that's not true at all. But from. Well, not like, you know, like they didn't like Blue sky made it right. Like, it's not like Sega's like, we got to have an answer.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah. SEGA published it, though.
Justin Davis
Yeah, but, like, just the visuals, like the pseudo 3D. It was, like, so good and so cool. Yeah, yeah. I mean, I know I goof. I goof on Sonic the Hedgehog and the Genesis now a lot, but I was a Genesis kid growing up, and I have very fond memories of Vectorman.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah, you mention it on the show quite often. And that's why I think it was funny that we've never used this game for 20 questions before.
Justin Davis
I was gonna say, I think. I feel like it does come up kind of a lot.
Nick Limone
You could destroy the SEGA logo right as Vectorman. Or do you just shoot, like, in the top right corner and something falls down?
Justin Davis
You can do both.
Nick Limone
The tank level. Oh, my gosh. Yeah.
Justin Davis
Yeah, this game was great. Like, look at this. Look at the 3D. Yeah, it's so cool.
Damon Hatfield
Vectorman himself is made up how many 23 separate sprites on just Vectorman.
Nick Limone
That's. That's. That's what they call parallax. Scrolling right there. Right?
Damon Hatfield
I've never played this level. This level looks insane. This is so cool.
Nick Limone
Yeah, it's. It's awesome.
Damon Hatfield
It's a good game.
Justin Davis
Yeah. And then Vectorman 2 was a deep disappointment.
Damon Hatfield
I'm pretty sure they made three vector men on the Genesis.
Justin Davis
Well, no, there's only two, but one of the very, very first E3s I ever went to, I played Vectorman 3, which was a 3D, you know, game. And then it was. It never was released.
Damon Hatfield
You're right.
Justin Davis
Okay. Yeah. It was going to be on the SEGA Saturn, and I think, you know, I think I was 18 years old and whatever. And then, like, oh, Vectorman 3 was just at E3, and I thought that was the coolest thing I'd ever seen in my life. And then, you know, end up in Lost media.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah.
Justin Davis
Weird.
Nick Limone
That's crazy. Somewhere out there in a bin, there's, like, a prototype code for Vector Man 3.
Justin Davis
It was pretty bad.
Damon Hatfield
You guys are doing very well.
Justin Davis
It's just like that is that early, early 3D era, right? Like, it just, you know, wasn't really working.
Damon Hatfield
42 questions down, three rounds in. You're going into your fourth round. You guys are. You guys are doing good.
Nick Limone
I feel like that could have been the hard one.
Damon Hatfield
That wasn't the hard one.
Nick Limone
Oh, okay. Dang.

Good morning crust.
Damon Hatfield
It's a great day to be a bread brother. Mornings are not my jam or jelly. Oh, come on, stop loafing around. I just woke up feeling hollow inside. Just grab one of the new morning uncrustable sandwiches like Bright eyed Berry or up an apple filled with 12 grams of protein and tons of deliciousness crust. What are you eating?
Justin Davis
It's just granola.
Damon Hatfield
Not even yogurt. No crust, no fuss. Uncrust your mornings. That brings us to round four comes from Jim Galligan, who offers no location and no anecdote.
Nick Limone
Dude unknown. All right, let me kick this one off. Is it 70s, 80s or not 90s?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Nick Limone
Oh, there's a hesitation in that though.
Justin Davis
I think it's pronounced Jim Gaffigan.
Damon Hatfield
This one is Galigan.
Justin Davis
Oh, so it's not the comedian? No, Jim Galligan.
Damon Hatfield
Unless it's Jim Gaffigan.
Nick Limone
Who?
Damon Hatfield
And he's like, oh, I don't want them to know. Change it. Jim Gaffigan.
Nick Limone
Jim Gaffigan. If you're watching, let us know.
Justin Davis
70S, 80s or 90s? Yes. Was this originally or did this come out on the nes?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Justin Davis
Did this come out on the 16 bit consoles?
Nick Limone
It's either arcade or like Master System, I guess.
Justin Davis
I mean N64.
Nick Limone
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right, you're right, you're right.
Justin Davis
Or handhelds.
Nick Limone
Is this could be a game? Yeah, let's go for it. Is this a game on a cartridge?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Nick Limone
Okay, so it's CD or arcade.
Justin Davis
Was this originally a PS1 game?
Damon Hatfield
No, that's five.
Justin Davis
Could be Dreamcast, could be a launch Dreamcast game. Or it could be an arcade game or something hinky like that.
Nick Limone
Is this an arcade game originally?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Nick Limone
Okay, so it's probably on Dreamcast 2, or at least it's been ported to a CD based console.
Justin Davis
Did this game come out on the Dreamcast?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Nick Limone
House of the Dead too.
Justin Davis
Yeah. Does this game prominently feature or is there an option for like a weird non controller control scheme?
Damon Hatfield
Wait, hold on. Like can you ask that?
Justin Davis
Can you. Can you use something like a fishing rod to control this game?
Nick Limone
A gun? Fishing rod?
Justin Davis
Yeah. Or a gun, a fishing rod or a steering wheel. Fishing rod, gun or steering wheel to control this game?
Damon Hatfield
None of those three things.
Nick Limone
Oh, no.
Justin Davis
Okay. It's not. It's not Sega Bass fishing. And it's not House of the Day.
Nick Limone
No House the Dead.
Justin Davis
Two or three, sadly, could still maybe technically be typing of the Dead. I think that might have come out later. So arcade games. So what, your Power Stone.
Nick Limone
Yeah, Power Stone. It can't be Marvel versus Capcom, because we had that semi recently. Right.
Justin Davis
And we talked about Power Stone when we were figuring out that it was.
Nick Limone
I always forget, though. Did Power Stone have an arcade port or was it on arcade first?
Justin Davis
I don't know. I think so. No. Nobody knows.
Nick Limone
Or it could be like, is this a. Well, is this a brawler?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Nick Limone
Okay, so it's not like, you know, it's not your. I guess Powerstone's not a brawler.
Justin Davis
Crazy Taxi.
Nick Limone
Not a steering wheel.
Justin Davis
Yeah, I get. Okay. Yeah, you're right. Is this a. Is. Would you. Did you ask Brawler thinking that that eliminated Power Stone?
Nick Limone
Yeah, I did. When I should have probably been fighting game is what I should have asked.
Justin Davis
Yeah. This is because I assumed. I assumed. Damon, when you were asked Brawler, you.
Nick Limone
Think of Streets of Rage, right?
Justin Davis
That's what I was thinking was like, cycling Brawler.
Damon Hatfield
That wasn't an arcade game.
Nick Limone
Right, right, right. But like, that type of game.
Damon Hatfield
But I mean, Powerstone is kind of like a fighting or like a multiplayer brawler.
Justin Davis
Okay, okay, okay, so. And he said no. So not. Not Power Stone. Damon's daemon's being generous. I mean, is it a fighting game?
Damon Hatfield
No, that's 10.
Nick Limone
I mean, what.
Justin Davis
So an arcade game that came to the Dreamcast that is not a fighting gamer. Brawler, but does not have weird controls.
Nick Limone
Well, it does. I think, specifically, we did ask if it's a fishing rod gun or steering wheel.
Justin Davis
Well, okay, but.
Nick Limone
But to your point, though, your previous point is the keyboard. I'm kind of latched onto that typing of the dead now.
Justin Davis
Yeah, I just. I didn't think that that came till later. I didn't think that was from the 90s, but maybe it was. Oh, boy.
Nick Limone
What else could we ask?
Justin Davis
Oh, okay. It could be, you know, there's like, Mars Matrix and, like, there are shmups back then. I mean, I don't know how I'm gonna, like, Radiant Silver Gun. I'm never gonna zero in on, like, which ones are on the Dreamcast. Is it a shmup?
Damon Hatfield
Nope.
Nick Limone
Is. Well, I mean, it. Huh.
Justin Davis
And it not being a brawler eliminates. I don't even know if any of these came out on arcades, but there was like. I also. I'm getting the Dreamcast And Saturn. Confused. I was thinking about, like, Guardian heroes and. And, you know, some of those brawlers, right?
Nick Limone
Yeah.
Justin Davis
Beat them ups. But it's. It's none of.
Nick Limone
Have we mentioned this game yet?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Nick Limone
Oh, shoot. I. Dude, I think it's Typing of the Dead, bro.
Justin Davis
Do you. Can you control the. Do you control this game with a keyboard?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Nick Limone
Is there any. Is there any. Is this Typing of the Dead?
Damon Hatfield
Yes, it's.
Nick Limone
Yeah. Well done, Justin.
Justin Davis
You.
Nick Limone
You.
Guest or Narrator (possibly a poet or musician)
Yeah.
Justin Davis
What a weird game.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah.
Nick Limone
This game rocks.
Damon Hatfield
Arcades in 1999, Dreamcast and PC in 2001.
Nick Limone
It is. This is a bummer about getting older. This game just gets too easy, though, because it's like, I know how to type.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah.
Justin Davis
I think it's on again. I'm not using my keyboard while I'm playing, but I'm using it now. The game is on the. Yeah, the game is on Steam.
Nick Limone
Yeah. It's also for the longest time before it was on Steam. The version that's on Steam is obviously available. I'm pretty sure it's a bad version of the game, if I'm not mistaken. I don't mean to slander the game if that's not the case, but there is an abandonware version of the game that is the original release that fans have modded to make it playable on modern operating systems.
Justin Davis
There's. There's a $3 DLC for the Steam version that gives you filthy words to type. What? And the example. The example in the screenshot is Sexual Tyrannosaur.
Damon Hatfield
That's from Predator.
Nick Limone
Dude, that's a hard word to type if I'm fighting zombies.
Justin Davis
It's not. It. It doesn'. It's like super filthy, but just like blue. Like it's dripping. Dripping wart goo is one of them.
Damon Hatfield
Okay. Weird. And it's like an official.
Justin Davis
Yeah.
Damon Hatfield
DLC from Sega.
Justin Davis
It's the first. It's the. It's the first thing you see when you go to the Steam page.
Nick Limone
Wow, that rocks.
Damon Hatfield
Cool. Typing of the Dead nicely job. There's only one game left and you guys have asked 56 questions. So.
Nick Limone
Dude, we got.
Damon Hatfield
I think within 44 questions you can guess the final game.
Justin Davis
Man. You're going to be host on this Truth or dare. We're going to learn so much about you.
Nick Limone
Yeah.
Damon Hatfield
I should have picked harder games. No, you guys are great. All right, last round. Let the question continue. This is from Evan from down East Maine, near Acadia National Park. Evan says, I recently started listening regularly to the show at work. I clean cars and you help Me get through the second half of Slow Fridays. Nice.
Justin Davis
Cool.
Nick Limone
I mean, yeah. Let's do it. I'm not trying to. I'm not trying to rack up the question count here. Is this from the 70s, 80s, or 90s?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Nick Limone
Okay.
Justin Davis
Can you play this game on the Switch?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Nick Limone
Is this a Nintendo exclusive?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Justin Davis
Was it originally released on the Switch?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Justin Davis
It's Mario. Mario Kart 8.
Nick Limone
It's Metroid prime because he's celebrating the fact that Metroid Prime 4 is coming out soon.
Justin Davis
Yeah. Metroid Prime 4. Metroid Prime. Excuse me. Could be Metroid Prime 4 if Damon wanted to be really sneaky.
Nick Limone
Is this a platformer? Yes.
Damon Hatfield
That's five.
Nick Limone
Nintendo Switch game 2D.
Justin Davis
Sorry, 2D?
Damon Hatfield
Yes. 2D platformer. Yes.
Justin Davis
Super. Super Mario World. Super Mario World 2?
Nick Limone
Yeah.
Justin Davis
Yoshi's island is this game. I don't.
Nick Limone
Is this game available as part of the Nintendo Switch online service?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Nick Limone
Okay, cool. So that gets rid of retro games.
Justin Davis
Mario Wonder. Yeah. Wait, did I ask. Did we ask if it was originally released on the.
Nick Limone
You did.
Justin Davis
The answer was no.
Nick Limone
That's correct. So that's.
Justin Davis
That's what makes me not Mario Wonder.
Nick Limone
Correct. And that makes me think it's like a GameCube game or like a port. Like a. Like a Skyward Sword or a Metroid Prime.
Justin Davis
Yeah. Except It's a platformer.
Nick Limone
2D platformer. You're right.
Justin Davis
You're right. Yeah. So this is a little bit tricky. After all, it's not on Switch Online, but was not originally released on the Switch, but is a 2D platform. It's like an older 2D platformer.
Nick Limone
Nintendo, then.
Justin Davis
Nintendo. Was it developed or published by Nintendo?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Justin Davis
Does this game have mar. Is this a Mario game?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Justin Davis
Yeah. So I thought. I'm like, I'm barking up the wrong tree. It's got to be something else.
Nick Limone
Why am I blanking on 2D? Nintendo games like that fit this criteria that are not Mario, like, I guess, see what's kind of port to the Switch. That would make sense.
Justin Davis
Well, what's a platformer that doesn't star Mario? Not a lot of those. Could be. What is it? One of those weird Yoshi Yarn games? There's a million of those. The Woolly World and Yarn. Kirby's Epic Yarn.
Nick Limone
Does this game feature any Mario cast of characters?
Damon Hatfield
Yes. Okay, that's 10.
Nick Limone
So we're in the right territory here.
Justin Davis
Was there a. I don't even. I don't know. This is a slight blind spot for me. There's these Yoshi games.
Nick Limone
There's Yoshi's woolly world. Yoshi's 3D crafted world. There's.
Justin Davis
I. I mean, one of those must have been a Wii U game, you know, that then came out.
Nick Limone
Yeah.
Justin Davis
Later.
Nick Limone
It's got to be like Woolly World. I think Crafted World is an actual, like.
Justin Davis
I don't like the Yoshi games used to be pretty hardcore. Super Mario World 2 is pretty hardcore. And Yoshi's Island DS is like, particularly like, hardcore. And then now they've made Yoshi like the little kid.
Nick Limone
Yeah. Kind of like kind of a baby game.
Justin Davis
Yeah, they've. Baby game.
Nick Limone
Very pretty, but kind of baby game. Is this a. Does this game star Yoshi?
Damon Hatfield
No.
Nick Limone
Shoot.
Justin Davis
Wait a second.
Nick Limone
It's a Mario cast characters.
Justin Davis
Oh, there is Princess Peach. Showtime.
Nick Limone
But that was a Switch.
Justin Davis
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Wait, what about Wario? He's up to no good all the time.
Nick Limone
I mean, Warrior, the last 2D Wario. Wario game was. That was a platformer. Was the GameCube one. And I guess there was one Wii.
Justin Davis
What about Luigi?
Nick Limone
New Luigi.
Justin Davis
But there's obviously Luigi's Mansion. But those aren't platformers. And then there was the new Luigi.
Nick Limone
U. Yeah, new Luigi U.
Justin Davis
But did that come out? Is that on the switch?
Nick Limone
That is on the switch.
Justin Davis
It did come out on the switch.
Nick Limone
It is on the switch as part of a new Super Mario Brothers plus Luigi Youth Combo Pack thing.
Justin Davis
I think. I think I know what it is. I think it's. I think it's Donkey Kong.
Nick Limone
Oh, yeah. Donkey Kong. Tropical Freeze.
Justin Davis
I think it's either. Yeah, Tropical Freeze or Returns Return.
Nick Limone
And it's a Mario. Cast a character.
Justin Davis
Yeah, yeah. Does this game star Donkey Kong?
Nick Limone
Yep.
Justin Davis
Cool. Which one is it?
Nick Limone
I mean, Tropical Freeze versus Return. Donkey Kong Country Returns. I can't think about Donkey Kong Country Returns. Just recently got a Switch port too. Like, it's like a fairly new, weirdly new switch port.
Justin Davis
It came out right before, like, this year. Right before. Did this game come out this year?
Damon Hatfield
Yes.
Justin Davis
On the Switch. Yes.
Nick Limone
Okay, so it's got to be returned.
Justin Davis
Is it dk? Is it Doncon Country Returns?
Damon Hatfield
Yep. Donkey Kong Country Returns. Originally a WWII game in 2010.
Nick Limone
Also a 3ds game.
Damon Hatfield
3Ds in 2013, and then came to Switch this January.
Nick Limone
It's really weird when this coin came out when it did.
Justin Davis
Yeah. I mean, we're in that, like, late Switch era where, like, Nintendo clearly had to, like, buy time for a year.
Nick Limone
But it's like they released Tropical Freeze for the Switch before they did this one.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah.
Nick Limone
Which is like.
Justin Davis
Yeah, but Tropical Freeze was like year one of the Switch. It's like, you know, we. I mean, first of all, the Switch kind of got Nintendo ports throughout the console's life cycle, but we particularly got them in the first year or two when they were giving us Wii U games and giving them a second shot at life. And then we got them in kind of the final year where they're like, oh, no, we need more games.
Nick Limone
I've never actually played this game. I've only played Tropical Freeze, which rules. And I've just heard that this is like a worse version of Tropical Freeze. Not that it's bad, it's just not as good as Tropical Freeze.
Justin Davis
Yeah.
Damon Hatfield
When did Tropical Freeze first come out?
Nick Limone
That was Wii U. That was Wii U? Yeah, that was Wii U game that was like, what, 2013 or something?
Damon Hatfield
13, 14, 15. Some of that. Well, my friends, you've completely aced.
Nick Limone
We crushed it.
Damon Hatfield
100 questions, a total of 70 questions.
Justin Davis
Wow.
Damon Hatfield
Five games you got.
Justin Davis
I wonder.
Damon Hatfield
Got them all in. 70 questions.
Justin Davis
Wonder if that's a record.
Nick Limone
We never went Questions. We never went over a 20 questions per game, Right?
Justin Davis
No, but we got. We got it on 20.
Damon Hatfield
Yep.
Nick Limone
Hey, it counts. A win's a win.
Damon Hatfield
Shadow of the Colossus, Burnout Paradise, Vectorman, Typing of the Dead and Donkey on Country Returns nicely job. Yeah, indeed.
Justin Davis
Burnout paradise was the diciest one out of all those.
Nick Limone
Well done, Justin.
Damon Hatfield
Street level crimes.
Nick Limone
Street level crimes.
Justin Davis
Damon's helping us out.
Damon Hatfield
I got you back. Let's see what. Real quick before we go, Nick, you plan to play anything over the short little break here?
Nick Limone
Honestly, ever since we've been doing our conversation about Game of the century watch, and during this time of year year, I always get into a fantasy Dungeons and Dragons mood, so I've been jumping back into Baldur's Gate 3 and I'm. I'm looking to push credits on it now. I'm. That game's got its grips on me and I'm. I'm like so all in on Dungeons and Dragons and just like Faerun forgotten realm stuff that I'm. I'm reading Volo's Guide to Monsters.
Justin Davis
I'm.
Nick Limone
I'm all in on just source books and learning about Faerun and all of the deities and creatures. I just love learning about monster. It's like you're telling me there's a whole book that has monsters in it? Yes, please. I will read that book from beginning to end. Even though I Don't really plan on playing Dungeons and Dragons. So. Yeah, Balers Gate 3 and also another game that I am planning on playing. I just don't know if we're. If you've announced anything yet about.
Damon Hatfield
Oh, so yeah, the first episode of Is It Still Fun Today? Just went live today, so Akario time. So that'll be showing up in your Game Scoop feeds. You can also watch the video on our YouTube channel. Yeah, new, new show. Is it Still Fun Today? We replay old games to answer the question, Is It Still Fun Today? We started things off with Ocarina of Time and we've got our new next episode lined up. It'll be publishing early in the new year and so we'll be playing that over December and we can make that announcement at a later date. Yeah, I need to play that too.
Nick Limone
But I'm going to be playing that as well.
Damon Hatfield
And you brought up Game of the century. Watch. I've been tallying all the votes. I put out the question out on all the socials, Facebook, Twitter, Blue sky and just everywhere. What are the best games of the century? So far I'm tallying up everything. There have been a lot of tiebreakers that I have to do. So yesterday there was tiebreaker between Halo 3 and BioShock. So I put a, I put a poll in our Facebook group. You know, which one do you think is better? The poll came out 50. 50.
Justin Davis
50.
Damon Hatfield
Exactly. People can't decide between Halo 3 and BioShock.
Nick Limone
Yeah, I mean, both great games that are indicative of the 360 era.
Damon Hatfield
And so right now, today I'm running GTA 5 or Half Life 2. Right now, after being up for a couple hours, GTA 5 has 49%. Half Life 2 has 51%. Oh, these are really close games.
Nick Limone
That's not what I would expect.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah.
Justin Davis
GTA 5 versus Half Life.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah, but they're, they're basically neck and neck.
Justin Davis
Half Life 2 is a much better game than GTA 5.
Nick Limone
100. Agree.
Damon Hatfield
My. That's my opinion as well. But I mean GTA 5 is just a monster.
Justin Davis
So anyway, the, the Half Life, the half life first BioShock thing is interesting to me. I'm sure a decade ago or whenever, like when they were more contemporary, BioShock would have run away with it by far. But I think it's like more time has gone by. People like, wait a second, like, maybe this game's not quite as like, smart as people thought it was.
Damon Hatfield
People have wonderful memories of playing Halo 3 multiplayer. Right. And that'll just, that'll do a lot of heavy lifting for them as well.
Nick Limone
I mean, that's like Xbox Live Gold membership plus Halo 3 equals fun.
Justin Davis
Yeah, it's been, there's been, you know, 20 years of, you know, capitalism, bad question mark games since Bioshock, and it doesn't feel quite as fresh anymore, which is not Bioshock's fault at all.
Damon Hatfield
That's true.
Justin Davis
But like, you know, I think it does make Halo 3 shine all the brighter.
Damon Hatfield
So on a an upcoming episode, we'll have. We'll have the definitive list. The top 25 games of the century so far. It's going to be really.
Nick Limone
Why isn't Chrono Trigger on this list? What the heck.
Justin Davis
Yeah, I'm glad we solved it. Yeah, definitively. No one can get mad.
Damon Hatfield
No one can get mad. Justin, what are you gonna be playing over the next few days?
Justin Davis
Factorio obsessed? No, I've been off of factorio for a little bit now. I've been really obsessed with Disney Dreamlight Valley. Yeah, you've been to. I think I've shared on the show before. The more stressed out I get, the more like, chill game I need. So it's been a lot of like Vampire Survivors and DDV as we call it.
Nick Limone
They just released an expansion, right?
Justin Davis
Yeah, I'm not even in the expansion. I'll get there. I'm currently trying to get my friendship level with Elsa up to max, which I need to get her at a 10 out of 10 friendship level in order to do the quests that I need to do. But what I actually want to talk about is I've downloaded and I'm going to start Dispatch. I'm super excited.
Damon Hatfield
Oh, there you go.
Justin Davis
I know. I'm really. I just like, you know, they did such a good job with it and those episodes coming out so quickly. So I'm like a little bit bummed that I missed the zeitgeist. It's like the new episodes were dropping, but like, I'm so glad that it seems to have finished strong and like it's getting such a hearty recommendation from, you know, people who I know and trust that I'm excited to get dig into it.
Nick Limone
I didn't get a chance to talk. I don't think I was on GameScoop during that game's release, but I gobbled up each episode as they dropped. And it's one of my favorite stories I've experienced in a long time. It's. It's one thing to, you know, I don't really have any interest in discussing Whether or not it's a game, because very clearly it is. But it takes. It's one thing entirely to just tell a story, but to tell a story well, it's, you know, competing against prestige television, against films. And I think this thing goes bar for bar with anything currently on TV or anything releasing in movie theaters. This is just a good story that's being told and I am very stoked that people seem to be globbing onto it.
Damon Hatfield
Well, maybe this is why I should play. Because I finished Ghost of Yote a couple nights ago and I was going to bounce back to other worlds two maybe. But maybe I should play check out Dispatch.
Nick Limone
Don't play with the kids around.
Damon Hatfield
Well, no, I know that for the kids we've been playing, we got Super Mario Party Jamboree. Oh, that's such a good one. That's a fun one. I've never, like, played much of Mario Party at all, but like, you know, everyone else, the games are just dead simple. But it's totally fun to play with the kids and they're like laughing and hooting, hollering.
Nick Limone
And if I may make a wreck in the Mario Party vein, Lego just released a Mario Party like that rules. I don't remember the name of it. Yeah, but it's.
Damon Hatfield
I know the one you mean.
Nick Limone
Very good. And it's like, I'm glad someone's made a Mario Party competitor that's actually good.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah.
Nick Limone
And, yeah, people seem to be digging it and I've seen quite a bit of game plan. I was like, yeah, this looks fun.
Damon Hatfield
Yeah, we should check that one out. Did you finish Yote?
Nick Limone
I have not. I don't think I will.
Damon Hatfield
You know, I. I was so hot on it. By the end, I was ready for it to be over and I felt my enthusiasm has dampened a little bit. Great game, great game. But it's just like, for like the first half of it, I was like, this game is amazing. My favorite game of the year. Yeah, I don't know, it just. Everything starts to feel. The rewards for most of your quests are just a weapon kit, which is like just different colors for your weapons and gear. And it's like, well, I don't really care about that, so. Oh, I'll just mainline the quest. And then the villain is just like, out of all the people that she wants to kill and get revenge on, like, the main villain is the least interesting one. It's like, it's like, think about Kill Bill at the end. At the end, Kill Bill is a very well rounded and fleshed out character. Even though he's obviously evil, it's like he has his own point of view and a justification for what he did. But here it's just. Just an evil guy. Just an evil guy that killed your family. And so anyway, good game. Very good game, in fact. But I didn't end up liking it as much as I thought I would.
Nick Limone
Very pretty game.
Damon Hatfield
Very pretty game. All right, anything else for us to do here? Are we gonna.
Nick Limone
I think. I think we ate everything with a big old spoon and we're ready to take our power nap.
Damon Hatfield
