This week Rett gets infected with space madness as we look back at 2009's sci fi horror film Pandorum. Rett considers this film a hidden gem akin to Dark City or Event Horizon - unappreciated at release but an interesting film with several shocking twists and turns. https://www.spreaker.com/episode/pandorum--71635500

On this week's episode we look back at Robert Rodriguez's 2010 film Machete, starring the legendary Danny Trejo. This film was born out of a fake trailer that played in front of 2007's Grindhouse double feature Planet Terrror and Death Proof. Highly anticipated by devotees of Joe Bob Briggs and fans of old school drive in exploitation films, this ridiculous revenge film did not disappoint at release, but certainly hits different in 2026. https://www.spreaker.com/episode/machete--71259674#robertrodriguez #dannytrejo #Machete

This week we drift back on to the Tokyo expressway to discuss 1990's Shuto Kousoku Trial 2. A semi-autobiographical film about professional racer Keiichi Tsuchiya, this film adopted an anti-street racing message, thus avoiding the ban the first movie faced. Spanning 6 films in total, the Shuto Kousoku Trial series had a major infulence on video game series such as Ridge Racer, Tokyo Xtreme Racer, Gran Turismo and Forza Horizon. It also inspired manga and anime series Initial D, and The Fast and The Furious Tokyo Drift, of which Tsuchiya served as technical advisor and even did most of the stunt driving. So warm up the tires on your Nissan Skyline and prepare to drift into the night.https://www.spreaker.com/episode/shuto-kousoku-trial-2--70524970#80s #90s #drift #drifting #eightsix #expressway #fairladyz #fast #furious #initiald #Nissan #racer #racing #ridgeracer #shuto #shutoku #Skyline #streetracing #Tokyo #xtreme #tokyoxtremeracer

This week we look back at John Carpenter's horror classic The Thing. This movie had the unfortunate timing of releasing two weeks after E.T. in June of 1982. Considered frightening, horrifying, and repellent at the time, it would go on to become a cult hit on home video and is now regarded as one of the greatest horror films of all time. Recently, it also had the honor of being added to the National Film Registry for preservation at the Library of Congress for its cultural, historic and aesthetic importance. This week we look back at the 2010's Clash of the Titans, starring Sam Worthington, Ralph Fiennes, and Liam Neeson. This contentious remake of the 1981 Ray Harryhausen classic sparked a lot of debate upon release with fans of the original film, but found its own audience with a younger generation that grew up playing God of War games on Playstation. This week we look back at Sir Peter Jackson's 1987 debut film Bad Taste. Blending dark comedy, science fiction, horror and action, this independent feature film was shot on a shoestring budget over a four year period. The story revolves around a small paramilitary force that has to stop aliens from harvesting people for their intergalactic fast food franchise. Its as wacky as it sounds, and worth checking out if you're curious about how Peter Jackson got started in filmmaking before going on to create the epic Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies.#Peterjackson #nz #newzealand #horror #indie #80s #lotr #lordoftherings #franwalsh #bad #taste #badtaste #alien #aliens #invasion #sirpeterjackson #film #movie #podcast
