“The thing that sets you up for success in your day is not just using your brain, but paying attention to your body, paying attention to your feelings.”Question: do you have a daily routine that’s taking you directly to your goal? I didn’t used to. In fact, my old routine used to set me up for a day of disappointment instead of success. And I don’t know about you, but I prefer success. So I changed my morning routine, and now I start my day knowing that I’ll get everything done that I ask myself to do.In this episode, I’m sharing what I do every morning, how I do it, and (the most important part) how I know it’s working. This conversation isn’t about productivity for the sake of productivity. It’s about creating self trust and showing up in the world the way you truly want to, instead of making yourself do the things you think you have to.My daily routine is softer, kinder, and not coincidentally, I’m more productive now than I was all those years I was trying to get everything done. If you’re looking for less hustle and more success, this episode is for you.Ready to Get Your Goal? Okay, obviously I’m overdramatic, but before I actually wrote a book, I was legit worried that I would 💀 without writing a book (and I’ve wanted to be an author since I was seven years old).I thought I was running out of time. I thought maybe I was too old, that the time to write a book had already passed me by, and by the way, omg, it was going to take a lot of time to write a book, and I already had too much to do in my day, every day.Past Pahla had a lot of time scarcity thoughts! But now that I’ve (mostly) worked through them and come to understand exactly what time scarcity is, how it’s showing up in your life right now as we speak, and what to do about it… well, that’s why I recorded this podcast. My friend, you have time to get your goal. And yes, journaling will help you. Listen to this episode for the practical steps of reducing time scarcity in your life, watch the Daily 3 journaling Masterclass to learn how to rewire your brain for success (total time commitment between both of these activities is around 40 minutes if you watch and listen on 1.25x speed), and then let’s get your goal.Oooh, P.S. About ten minutes in, I mention a really old episode, called “Stop Thinking POSITIVELY,” and here’s the link: https://getyourgoal.com/podcasts/40-stop-thinking-positively/Ready to Get Your Goal? True story: For months now, I’ve been letting AI write my podcast show notes, because I’ve been telling myself that I’m not great at writing them and a robot is better at search-engine optimization than I am.And then when that still felt a little icky, I would remind myself that hardly anybody really reads them anyway, and it’s a lot faster than doing it myself. But that didn’t feel especially good, either, and today - literally in the middle of recording this podcast for you - I figured out why.I’ve been thinking about show notes from the perspective of how I’m “supposed to” write them, and what “everybody” says is the best way to do it, and whether or not the algorithm (yep, more robots!) will favor this episode. You know what, though? F that.MY show notes are a place where I can talk to you, directly, and let you know that this episode - in fact, this whole podcast, every episode - is for you.And friend, it is.This is the episode where we examine the all-or-nothing thinking that pervades the advice of mindset and productivity coaches who want to tell you that perfectionism is always wrong. It’s not.And I’m not taking the stand that it’s always right, either. There’s a nuance. Perfectionism *can* serve you, and inside this episode we’ll talk about when that is, how to tell the difference between “good” and “bad” perfectionism, and I have a couple of self-awareness questions you can use for yourself. When you’re ready to explore, you know I’m here for it. Let’s go.Ready to Get Your Goal? We've all been there -- you ask yourself to do something and then… don’t. And disappointment just feels inevitable. But what if that feeling isn’t actually your fate? In today’s episode, I’m sharing the surprisingly simple shift that dissolves disappointment and restores your self-trust.You know that moment when you look back at your day and think, “Why didn’t I do the thing I told myself I was going to do?” Well, in this episode, we’re taking a compassionate look at what’s really going on when life “life-s” at you and suddenly, the task you meant to do just isn’t happening anymore.Because here’s the twist: disappointment doesn’t come from the undone thing. It comes from the belief that once you’ve made a decision, you’re obligated to stick with it — no matter what new information arises. Today, I’m walking you through the simple mindset shift that lets you make empowered in-the-moment choices instead of silently judging yourself for not being a machine. If you’ve ever wondered how to stay aligned with your big goal even when your day takes a hard left turn, this episode is for you.Ready to Get Your Goal? It’s near the end of November, and you know what that means: days are shorter, nights are longer, and there’s extra food everywhere you turn. Historically, you’ve put on anywhere from five to fifteen pounds in the final six weeks of the year, and you really want to change that. But how can you make it through the holidays without gaining weight? That’s exactly what we’re diving into on today’s podcast.Rather than white-knuckling your way through the holidays this year, let’s explore some of the unhelpful thoughts you probably have, that have created weight gain in years past, and start shifting into helpful thoughts that will change everything.Because this is the real crux of how to make it through the holidays without gaining weight: you make one mindset shift at a time. They all add up, and before you know it, holidays don’t feel hard. Losing weight doesn’t feel hard. Changing your habits, changing your mind, and changing your life – none of them feel hard when you give yourself a little shift.

You, as a human being, are never actually stuck. But your brain sure wants you to think you are, doesn’t it? I mean, your weight is absolutely, positively, 100% not moving. You’re stuck! And it sucks. That’s why today’s podcast is all about getting you unstuck so you can start losing weight again. It literally does not matter what goal you’re aiming for, or how many other goals you’ve achieved in your life, the path to your current goal is and will always be littered with stuckness. It’s part of the journey. It’s expected. It’s inevitable. And as an ambitious, overthinking menopausal woman who has achieved a lot of pretty spectacular goals in my life (and I’m currently on my way to another really big one), I have felt that stuckness. It sucks, I will sympathize with you on that. But also, because I’m your friendly neighborhood life coach, I won’t let either one of us wallow in how much it sucks, because here’s the thing: You can always get unstuck. Always. And in this episode, I’ll show you exactly how.

What if you could stop wasting time staring at your blank journal page, and just know exactly what to ask yourself? (Oh yeah, and bonus… what if those questions would help you LOSE WEIGHT, too?) My friend, not only do I have the solution here on today’s podcast, but I’ve also got a brand new free resource for you with the four most effective journaling prompts for faster weight loss.Download my free guide, “The Four Most Effective Journaling Prompts for Faster Weight Loss” here: https://getyourgoal.com/mosteffective/No matter what you’re doing in life, you will be better served by working with biology instead of against it. And here’s the thing to know about biology: we humans are always always always seeking pleasure and avoiding pain.So these journaling prompts are effective because they shine a light on what’s pleasurable for you and make it very clear where you’re trying to force yourself to do something… well, not necessarily physically painful, but emotionally unpleasant or uncomfortable, like denying yourself your favorite foods or making yourself exercise in ways you don’t enjoy. And the prompts will help you lose weight faster because simplicity plus systems equals speed. Once again, we’re working with biology here. Your brain loves to categorize information, and it’s literally hard-wired to enjoy repetition. So, these four journaling prompts? They’re like a win-win-win-win situation, as far as biology is concerned. Thanks for listening! 💞

You want to lose weight, and you’re willing to do whatever it takes. You’re pretty sure that you’re going to have to give up a few things, and you’re absolutely right about that. But it might not be the things you expect. On today’s episode of the Get Your GOAL podcast, I’m sharing five surprising things I gave up when I lost weight for the last time in my 50s.Isn’t it funny how we always think that giving something up is a bad thing? Like, when you saw the title of this podcast, you probably thought something like, “Oh, Pahla’s gonna tell me that she had to give up her favorite food, or that she gave up drinking wine.”Or we associate giving up with quitting or backing down from a standard we think is unachievable. Again, in a bad way. Like maybe you think I’m going to tell you that I gave up on trying to get back down to the weight I was in high school, or I gave up trying to fit into my wedding dress again. When it comes to weight loss, we really think that giving something up always means choosing what’s right instead of what’s fun, or doing what we have to do instead of what we want to do.If we want to lose weight we have to buckle down, put the lid on, get serious, stay focused, restrict ourselves, stay away from temptation, eat perfectly, drink perfectly, sleep perfectly, exercise perfectly, and don’t forget to manage your mind perfectly, too, right? My friend, the answer is no on all accounts. So, what did I give up to lose weight in my 50s?I gave up feeling sorry for myself.I gave up blaming other people.I gave up criticizing my body.I gave up thinking I couldn’t figure it out.I gave up losing weight ever again. And I whole-heartedly encourage YOU to give these things up, too – while still enjoying your favorite foods, living your best life, and pursuing the goal that makes your heart sing.
