A
Okay. We're so excited to be back and doing another hotline episode and answering fashion questions with depop, the home of circular fashion.
B
I feel like you never get to really like Simon Cowell with fashion advice, so this has been really fun for you. Yeah.
A
Because I don't want to take up all the time on the pod, so it's like, I need this little extra couple of minutes.
B
Yeah. And I like asking you important questions.
A
Yeah, sorry, we're just informing the people.
B
We're also both wearing Depop right now.
A
Yes.
B
I'm wearing this really cool deconstructed. Deconstructed soccer jersey that has lace on it and a little ribbon. So I'm like. I'm just multifaceted.
A
So Lower east side.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah.
B
I mean, this was, like, a long skirt and, like, combat boots.
A
Grace, first question.
B
Wait.
C
There has to be a game where.
B
We both have, like, one thing and see how we style it differently. What are you wearing?
A
I'm just wearing this little, like, gray tank with cute black. I mean, your boobs are. Sorry that my boobs are poking everyone in the eyes.
B
I love those. The leather.
A
Thanks.
B
Yeah.
A
She's offer Siren.
B
A little dominatrix.
A
Depop is also where taste recognizes taste. Hannah, you have the app open.
B
I'm obsessed with scrolling it because I put in my size, and then sometimes I also put in, like, a stock style I'm looking for, and then I just.
A
She can, like, really narrow it down.
B
Yeah, it's not. It doesn't feel as chaotic. Oh, my God. This is so cute. It's like a snakeskin jacket.
A
Okay, we're in the middle of something.
B
Sorry. Really cute snakeskin jacket.
D
Hello, Hannah and Paige. Hope everything is good with you. So right now I'm almost six months pregnant. I can say that my bump is still pretty small, but I think I'm getting into a point where the bump is going to bump. And I just wanted to know what would be your fashion advice for someone that doesn't want to fall into the mom jeans pregnant dilemma?
B
What a great, great question. I feel like you've definitely thought of your fashion looks when you're pregnant.
A
As someone who's never been pregnant but has a lot of opinions and a Pinterest board. I'm pregn women's fashion.
B
I think it's play the Super Bowl. I think it's.
A
A record deal.
B
Yeah.
A
Perform at the Super Bowl. Become Rihanna. God bless you.
B
Thank you.
A
I think it's so personal on, like, whether you're showing the baby, but, like, some people are all about like, I'm wearing a two piece set, I'm wearing all my old clothes. I'm. I don't care. And then there's other people that are like, I rather wear like a flowy, long maxi dress. So I feel like it's totally based on what your one year style is. And you're like comfortability, but people don't.
B
Talk enough about yeah, that like four or five month range where you want to show it off, but it could also look like you're just bloated and like let yourself go.
A
Yeah.
B
So it's like a thin line because people don't really know you're pregnant. I mean, you can walk around with like your hand underneath it, but that's exhausting.
A
I love the idea of accentuating the bump in terms of wearing like a low rise cargo pants and then like a cute, maybe like fitted T shirt with like a sweater over your shoulders. I just like, I like the idea of like a baggy pants and like a cute little like cardigan or like some type of top.
B
How do you feel about belly button out?
A
I think if you want your belly button out, get your belly button out.
B
Yeah.
A
It might feel freeing.
B
Let her fly.
A
You know, I don't, I don't know what it feels like to have a pregnant stomach. So I don't know if I'm gonna be one of those people that's like, no, I need to have my stomach out or I'll die.
B
Yeah. Because it might be really hot where you're like, I need to air.
A
Right. Or if I'm like, no, I want the biggest, comfiest, coziest sweater.
B
Yeah. I think the answer though is having that range depending on the day, depending what you're going through mentally, physically.
A
But I think like oversized cargo pants with a cute little ballet flat and then maybe like a cardigan T shirt. You could do a crop T shirt if you want the belly out. Or you can do a regular T shirt, like oversized if you don't.
B
What about doing a button down but only buttoned at the top and then it goes out. Cute.
And that's why they call me her apprentice.
You quizzing me on fashion?
C
How do you spell?
E
Who are they?
C
How do you spoil it?
A
Okay, Grace.
E
Okay. This is for Megan.
A
I love when Chris reads them because it's like an alien first came to the world.
E
I have a really hard time getting rid of clothes, even the ones that are outdated, because fashion trends keep coming back around. My fiance thinks that I have too many clothes and. And I Agree. So I want to do a closet clean out. What is the best way to know if you would get rid of something?
A
My rule is if I haven't worn it in a full year, I'm never wearing it.
B
I know.
A
And it's sad. It's sad because you're like, well, that's 80% of what I own.
B
The problem with me though is I only wear the same three things.
A
Yeah.
B
All the time. So it's like I don't wear anything in my closet.
A
A way to like. Because sometimes I feel like people go into a closet clean out and they're bright eyed and they're bushy tailed and they don't actually know what they're getting themselves into. I like to prepare a couple months.
B
Prior to a closet cleanup slowly.
A
And here's what I started doing. Anything I'm wearing over and over, when I put it back in my closet, I'm putting it in a specific section because I'm like, I wear that a lot. I need to remember that I wear that a lot.
B
I reach for it a lot.
A
There's also like a trick where you, if you put it back in the right section, you like twist the hanger so you know that like, oh, I always wear that. Then after like two months, you can see things that you haven't even touched and it's like, get rid of it.
B
That is so right. Because yeah, in theory I would wear some of these things, but it's like if you're always going to pick something over, doesn't need to be there.
A
So you have to do a little like science and math.
B
I went too hard with the closet clean out. And I, I have no leather boots. Like I threw them.
C
I donated them.
B
I think, yes.
C
I have no leather boots. How that happened?
B
Grace is laughing.
A
Sorry. Hannah's having a meltdown. Literally yesterday.
C
I need to wear a leather boot. And I'm like, I got it. I'm like, how do I throw away and donate four leather boots?
A
Yeah, it'll get you. So I, I recommend doing like a little math before and like figuring out.
B
Let'S not get the math things you.
A
Wear and things you don't. And then you should go into your closet clean out.
B
It's so true. There's also things that I, I'm like, I would look gorgeous if I wore it. But like it's not comfortable or it's tight or I just know that I actually look too revealing.
A
And yeah, there are certain things where I'm like, I know I'm only gonna wear that once for that one event. But, like, I love it, but it's like, you don't need. Need it.
B
Also, I don't want to speak for men, but women change.
A
Yeah. And, like, and we grow.
B
I am so different from a year ago. What I would wear. It's so. And it doesn't necessarily mean, like, you go through phases. You go through phases, and there's just so many things, and I'm like, that's not who I am as a woman. And it's not what I'm putting out into the world anymore.
A
Yeah. Sorry. This is a remix.
B
Sorry.
C
This is a remix.
B
Hannah can come to the phone right now. She's dead.
A
And while you're cleaning out your closet, depop is actually the perfect place because there's no seller fees. It's so easy to, like, get rid of your things. And also, you might see a few things on there that you're like, I need to replenish.
F
Yeah.
B
And it's great because you're like, oh, no, I'm giving stuff away. You're making money. You're a woman in stem.
A
Yep.
B
I know you love a mood board. Did you know you can make shoppable mood boards for events? Like, if. Let's say you're throwing a birthday party and it's like a theme or like a vacation or a vacation with friends, and you put it together. A bachelorette party. Yeah. So that's really fun. I'm, like, obsessed with this shirt.
F
Hey, Hannah and Paige.
A
Ogggler here.
F
Okay. I'll keep it short and sweet. I'm in my bridal era. I don't know where to find my rehearsal dinner dress. The theme is going to be a western chic. I'm getting married in the Colorado mountains. It'll be next July. So summery. And yes, I know it's super early, but I am too Taipei to wait much longer to figure out what I'm gonna wear. So I want. I'm looking for something that's super hot, super sexy, but also bridal classy.
That I can wear with cowboy boots, a cowboy hat. My hair will be long and curled. That's the vibe. Let me know where to look, what I should wear. I'm really just looking for Paige's approval on what I'm gonna be wearing that night.
G
Okay.
B
Love you.
A
This is actually a great question specifically for depop, because there' girls getting married. So many people in their bridal era, so many different wedding events. And then it's like, after that wedding event, they're like, what do I do with this dress?
B
Especially the rehearsal dress. You don't like necessarily keep it.
A
Right. And it's not like they're. Everyone was at your rehearsal so like so many people saw whatever. So I feel like girls do get rid of their rehearsal dresses. My vision immediately went to something long, white. Well, really more like ivory ish. Silk open back, tied around her neck. Because I think you could still do a cowboy hat with that.
B
Like haltery.
A
Yep. And you can still do cowboy. Cowboy boots. And it's like cute and chic, but you're still in like a classic rehearsal dinner dress. And I feel like that's. There's something like that definitely on Depop.
B
I love that for her. I think that's really classy. I also, for some reason I was envisioning like off the shoulder, like Chloe type dress.
A
Like big sleeves almost.
B
Maybe big sleeves or even just like a. A lace off the shoulder.
A
But like kind of you're giving decolletage out. Yeah.
B
I don't want to say like hippie, but like, you know what I mean?
A
Yeah, I know what you.
B
Yeah.
A
So Chloe was a great way to describe that was.
B
Sorry. That's.
A
Sorry. I'm like, so I'm so brassy.
B
So.
C
Yeah.
B
An off the shoulder is really sexy.
A
Yeah.
B
And then. Yeah.
A
I would go long though.
B
Yes, long. For sure. Long. Because it's a little like mountainy vibe. A little cowgirly. Oh, I wish I could maybe like a cap sleeve. Something that could be cute. Like a little trad wife.
A
Yeah, like a little bit. But it's like sexy.
B
Yeah.
A
Okay. Okay. Okay. Grace.
B
Next.
G
Hi, Hannah and Paige. I just wanted to ask, how do you plan your outfits? I feel like I wake up in the morning and I'm already just in a rush. And then I tend to put together an outfit that I've already worn before or it's not very exciting and I'm not wearing the pieces that I have bought for the season. So just wondering how you structure that in your life and if you have any tips for planning outfits.
A
It's really the worst. It's. It's so like people talk about like, how do you figure out what you're going to eat for dinner every night? A breeze. What are you going to wear every day? So stressful. Whenever I get moods where I'm like, oh my God, I wake up every morning, I'm putting workout clothes on or I'm putting sweats and I'm not putting any outfits together and it's annoying me. I start with shoes because I find that to be the easiest because that plays off of, like, what's the weather today? What am I doing today? Do I have to walk a lot? So if you start with your shoes, I feel like it's way easier.
B
I've never thought of that.
A
My mom taught me that.
B
I also.
A
So, like, the other day it rained, and I was like, okay, so I know I'm wearing rain boots.
B
Yeah.
A
And then I can build off of that.
B
What's a pan?
A
If you're going to work and you're like, I know. I don't want to be in a heel. I want to be in a ballet flat. You can build off the ballet flat. Oh, I'm wearing a riding boot to work tomorrow. Build off of that.
B
Like, I feel like I always build off the top.
Like, what top do I want to wear?
A
No, no, no. Yeah, see, you're making it harder for yourself because all of your tops go with pretty much all of your pain.
B
Very confusing. But also mentally, like, let's say you have a dinner on Wednesday.
A
Yeah.
B
When do you start thinking about what you're going to wear for that dinner?
A
Oh, depends on who the dinner's with.
C
But I feel like I.
B
No matter what the event is, if it's not, like, super fancy, I will never force myself to think about what I'm gonna wear. Cause I don't wanna, like, cloud my headspace. But I have to, like, start doing that. Cause I'm exactly like her where it's like 10 minutes before I'm like, let's.
C
See if I get lucky.
A
Okay. So like, last weekend, I went out to dinner with a couple of my friends on a Friday night. I thought about what I was wearing out to that dinner on Monday.
B
Exactly. Yeah, exactly. And you knew it. You had a vision. What do you do when you have a vision? Because I know you do. You're like, this is what's going to look good. You put it on. It doesn't. It doesn't hit the way you want it to.
A
That's as stressful. That's really stressful.
B
Oh, my God, I just got hot.
D
Yeah.
A
Because getting ready is so easy. When you. You're like, thought of this outfit, putting it on, whatever, especially a new thing.
B
You bought, and you're like, can't wait to wear it.
A
Look, I'm not God, so I can't solve that problem.
B
But I will throw everything around my room and make it look like it got robbed.
A
Yeah. I think some things just don't work visually the way they do in your head. And that's just like, trial and error. I have been a person where I'm like, okay, I have a dinner on Friday. I have an outfit idea. I try it on on Wednesday. It's horrible. Then I'm like, back to the drawing board. It's really just like, you have to prepare.
B
I love you. Coming back home and being like, they stumped us today. Didn't go well today.
A
Get back on the interview tomorrow. Yeah.
B
Do you. How much do you dressed? Does it depend on what you think other people are gonna wear to the event?
A
A lot. But, like, this was a dinner where I knew we were going to, like, a chic restaurant. It was Friday night. It's New York City. It's 8:30. I knew I was wearing a heel.
B
But you like to be the fanciest dressed. Right.
A
I read my rooms.
B
You want to be like, top 5%, top 10%. Yeah. I like to be bottom 10%.
A
I like to be in the top two of best outfits.
D
No.
A
I, like, know if I'm going out to dinner with girl. My girlfriends where, like, I know they're putting on an outf. An outfit. I'm gonna put on an outfit.
B
Yes.
A
But if I'm going with people where I'm like, one person's gonna be in what they wore to work today. So, like, I can wear.
B
Yeah.
A
Flats.
B
Yeah. Wow. We are getting the.
A
Like, we're getting into.
B
Curious how the mind works of fashion icon pictures or bow. I'm gonna start planning outfits more.
A
Yeah. You've been saying this for seven years.
B
Years.
A
You're like, I'm just gonna plan beforehand. I'm like, oh, yeah, sure.
B
Also, it's part of my undiagnosed adhd, where if one outfit works, I'll wear it over and over and over and over and over again.
A
Because I know you feel you're like.
B
Until people, like, catch on to it. And then I have to switch out.
A
Like, the black summer dress of 08.
C
That was from Amazon. Oh, my God.
B
Look.
C
Because it was black. I thought people didn't know.
A
I could. I could name your eras. I can literally name them.
C
I thought the denim shorts of 2017. I thought people didn't know about the.
B
Black dress because it was black.
C
We all knew. I thought it might be different.
A
Also, you tried with a denim jacket, throw it on top.
C
We knew also it was for pregnant women.
A
I think your mom had to finally be like, it's enough with the black dress.
C
You guys had an intervention.
F
Yeah.
A
We were like, she's got to stop. It's every day.
C
You know, at first it was fun, and now we think it's a problem.
A
