Paige
Guys, we're so excited to be answering your fashion questions today. It's my favorite thing to do, and we're doing it with Depop, the home of circular fashion.
Hannah
I'm literally scrolling right now. Some influencers have been on it.
Paige
I saw that you get to make.
Hannah
Money off the stuff that you don't wear. And when it's really stylish, you can have another girl work it and style it in her own way. And I love how, based on what I click on, they kind of decide what I might like.
Paige
Yeah. Gives you, like, suggestions of other things.
Hannah
Yeah. It's a lot of colored shirts, blazers, and polos for me right now. Ooh, that's cute.
Paige
And Depop is where taste recognizes taste. We're actually both wearing pieces from Depop right now. Your deconstructed skirt, and then this is, like, a little blazer skirt. Oh, your deconstructed shirt.
Hannah
Sorry, I was like, wait, am I wearing a skirt?
Paige
And then I'm wearing this little, like, blazer dress that has, like, buttons on the side, but I made it more like blazer than dress.
Hannah
You love a button.
Paige
I do.
Hannah
Yeah.
Paige
Well, they're secure. You can rely on them much more than a man.
Hannah
They're not gonna lie to you.
Paige
Yeah. They're not gonna go through your phone.
Hannah
They do what they say they will.
Paige
Yep.
Hannah
And based on your outfit, it's perfect because we are doing some work wear questions and even some menswear questions.
Paige
Well, one of my favorite things about fashion is being, like, a little bit more masculine dressing.
Hannah
Yes.
Paige
Like, I like an oversized blazer with, like, an oversized pant about.
Hannah
I love when you dress oversized. We like to play with the masculine and feminine. Yes. Also, I'm wearing, like, a Packers T shirt that was, like, deconstructed. I don't know. That's what they say about food.
Paige
You love anything deconstructed.
Hannah
I love anything deconstructed.
Paige
But, like, a cheeseburger, a T shirt, either or.
Hannah
I'm so excited. I love getting the fashion takes. The gigglers are fashionable.
Paige
Yeah.
Hannah
And there's a spectrum. Yep.
Paige
And they always have an interesting problem that goes along with said fashion question. It gets a little dicey here.
Hannah
It gets specific.
Paige
Yeah. With that said, let's get into it. Hi, Hannah.
Caller 1
Hi, Paige. Longtime listener, first time caller. So I know we're seeing a lot of, like, tailoring and suiting on the runways right now, and I'm very much into this, like, menswear as womenswear trend, but how are the fashion girlies hopping on this Are we doing blazers? Are we doing. I mean, obviously Hannah's a trailblazer with the ties, but I feel like I'm so close, but I don't really know how to make it a fit. You know what I'm saying? So appreciate your help.
Paige
I did ties first. I just want to point that out.
Hannah
She's steaming from her ears right now.
Paige
I did ties first. Okay. It was a Valentino tie. I wore it with a Valentino skirt. Bravocon. Two years ago. Fuck it.
Hannah
It's only been two years. It feels like a decade ago.
Paige
I wish.
Hannah
Can I say something about what she said, though?
Paige
Yeah.
Hannah
Her worry is so valid because there's something about a blazer that makes me scared I'm going to look like a millennial going out. Do you remember when we'd go out just wearing blazers?
Paige
Like a fitted blazer?
Hannah
Yeah. Like, to the club. Like, I just don't ever want to look like a Karen or like a male.
Paige
I get what you're saying.
Hannah
So how do I make a blazer chic?
Paige
Okay, well, I think what she's referring to on, like, the Runway with workwear, it was very. YSL is like the brand that does suiting the best. And they typically do match, like an oversized blazer with a matching pant. I think oversized blazers are. I don't find them to be millennial at all, but I am a millennial.
Hannah
But you have to go oversized.
Paige
Yeah, you're going oversized. You just have to make sure the fit is what you like. So, like, yes, there are girls that are wearing super oversized pants, but you could also do, like, a more fitted pant. You can also do, like, a cigarette pant. That's like, kind of like a capri. I actually have a pair of leather capris that I'm, like, really loving. And I wore it with an oversized blazer the other night to dinner.
Hannah
With what shoe?
Paige
I did a kitten heel.
Hannah
Thank God. I thought I was actually gonna, like, call the police. I'm like, where's pink? I do have to say one thing about these fashion call ins, which is cool. Is that me and you also have different body types. I'm bottom heavy. You're just not heavy. So I like to show my waist. Cause I could look very squarish. So I like to add a belt to an overflow blazer. But remember, belts, like, five years were, like, not good. Like, five years ago, if you wore a belt, it was like, cheugy. Yeah. Where now belts are so in.
Paige
Well, I think you can do a belt on the Pant, which that will like show that you're the difference between your waist and your, like your top and your bottom. But like YSL was doing it very literally. Like they were doing white button ups with belts and like actual. Just like suiting. You can also do like pencil skirts. Yes, Pencil skirts. And like a oversized blazer. And then like long leather gloves are really in.
Hannah
Yes.
Paige
So that's like way to make it.
Hannah
Let's bring in like when you have a blazer, putting a sweater over it. Actually that's a good idea.
Paige
Sweater over your shoulders.
Hannah
Yes. If you want to go full preppy generational wealth. But wearing, you know, a button up all the way to the top with a. With a tie. Like, I think like go full into it. Don't be afraid to go full 100% business.
Paige
Yeah. And then do your hair in like a sexy way.
Hannah
Yeah. Like a Pamela updo love. Or a tussled messy wave.
Paige
Tousled. I think the word you were looking for, but yes. Grace. Next question. Ladies.
Caller 2
I'm grabbing dinner with two of my girlfriends and constantly I feel like they're looking chic. Interesting variety. And I am constantly wearing pants and a cable knit sweater. Pants and a cable knit sweater. Pants and a cable knit sweater. What do you need the men in your life to be wearing to complement your look? To elevate themselves and just bring the right vibe?
Paige
Pants and a cable knit.
Hannah
All I want is my man to wear pants and a cable knit sweater. He's perfect.
Paige
But I'm like bopping to that. The pants and a cable knit sweater.
Hannah
Pants and a cable knit sweater.
Paige
I'm a big. What am I a big fan of that men wear? Vulnerability.
Hannah
Listening.
Paige
They're listening. Ears. I think men should wear more bombers.
Hannah
Wait, that's so crazy because I was about to say I don't want them in bombers. I feel like bombers are too. Try hard.
Paige
Well, because here's the thing. When I think of like, what's my ideal man wearing? Jeans and a T shirt.
Hannah
Yeah. Gay men can wear bombers. Cause I know it's their choice. When a straight man does it, it's like someone cooked here.
Paige
Okay, here's one thing I want to tell him. So they're modernizing. They're redoing the rugby.
Hannah
Yo.
Paige
So like you're going to. You're seeing like a lot of collared shirts that have like four buttons. You're buttoning all those buttons up and it's like a sweater. You're tucking it in. That's like a different play on a Sweater.
Hannah
Yeah.
Paige
So, like, horizontal stripes are really big, like a traditional rugby. But you can also do, like, a cashmere rugby.
Hannah
What about a cardigan?
Paige
Love a cardigan.
Hannah
I could see him in a cardigan.
Paige
Just like a T shirt and an oversized cardigan.
Hannah
Yes.
Paige
And then like a fun jacket and a scarf. And it's like, boom, boom, boom. Layer, layer.
Hannah
Let's have fun with scarves. I like when men wear scarves. Scarves. Especially gay men.
Paige
I hate when a straight man does a scarf. Yeah, yeah. I'm like, you're probably going to strangle someone with that.
Hannah
You don't need a weapon.
Paige
You don't need a weapon, sir. Have a cold neck.
Hannah
Unless you're blindfolding me, then I'm into it. I don't want to see you. Okay.
Paige
So I'm. I'm. I think he'll be okay.
Hannah
How about a leather jacket?
Paige
I'm just. I'm weary of a leather jacket on a man.
Hannah
Are you weary of a leather jacket because you're afraid they'll just go full Danny Zuko?
Paige
I think a leather jacket holds too much power for a man.
Hannah
It's like, unless you're in a full biker gang, which is, on its own.
Paige
Problematic, or you live in France. It's not for you. It's not for you.
Hannah
All right. Stir up leggings. Are they chic or giving horse girl.
Caller 2
I bought a pair and wore them.
Hannah
With heels and a long sweater. What's the chicest way to style them, if at all? What's a stirrup legging?
Paige
I'm obsessed. One, that Chris read it. Two, that you're so, like, unbeknownst to me, he put a stirrup legging. A stirrup legging is when it has, like, the foot thing that goes around your foot. Let me show you a picture of.
Hannah
A. Oh, so it doesn't go around your toes.
Paige
No. Like, you wear it with, like, a ballet flat.
Hannah
Yeah.
Paige
Or.
Hannah
Oh, that's like an 80s aerobics thing.
Paige
Yeah. Okay. Yes.
Hannah
Okay. Okay.
Paige
I personally would wear it with a ballet flat or with a. Would I do a full pump with it? A pump might be like two 80s, I would say, like a kitten heel.
Hannah
The molecules in your brain are working.
Paige
So hard, they're working overtime because I'm like, there is a world where there is a pump that you could use.
Hannah
Yeah. Yeah. Well, the good news is, with a lot of this trendy stuff, I love to find them on Depop because you get them at an affordable price. Also, this trendy stuff that people bought then decided I'm not into this trend, and you'll find it there. So I like to buy stuff on Depop that's trendy.
Paige
Okay. That's actually so perfect because it's like, yeah, stirrups were trendy. At some point they've come back, they're recycling, which means they're. They are going to go out so you don't have to spend a lot of money on. Depop is perfect for a stirrup. And also, Depop is perfect for an oversized sweater. Like she said she styled it with. I think that's how I would also.
Hannah
What colors would you get?
Paige
I would do all black.
Hannah
See, because I'm afraid if I did, like, a green, I would look like Peter Pan.
Paige
Yeah. I think it's something that, like, you're doing. It's a legging. You're treating it as a legging. So if you're wearing black and you wear black leggings, you do, like, a different colored sweater if you want, or all black. I'd either do an oversized sweater or I would do like a. Like a waistline, like black bomber or like, a waistline jacket.
Hannah
Sorry. I'm just crying because I envisioned you running in with stirrups going, are these the auditions for Pippin?
Paige
I love stirrup leggings.
Hannah
Can you say it?
Paige
I'm sorry, is this the audition for Pippin?
Hannah
Does Pippin wear red stirrups?
Paige
I don't even know what that musical was. All I'm capable of right now. Also, one of my favorite things about Depop is, like, it's winter, so, you know, there's like, a couple things that you're like, wow, I need all new sweaters. I need all new, like, jackets. But Depop has such a good selection of sweaters because I feel like that's that one thing that you're like, I wore this sweater all last year. I can't wear it again this winter. Like, I gotta get rid of it.
Hannah
Sell it on Depop.
Paige
Sell it on Depop. You always need new turtlenecks each season, so go crazy.
Hannah
I love a gay man in a turtleneck. I don't like a straight man in a turtleneck. And I will not be explaining further.
Paige
And that is what she's running on.
Hannah
There's also no seller fees. I've tried to sell stuff in the past where I'm like, did I lose money from this interaction? I love that Depop has no seller fees. They make it so easy. And the app is so curated for people to find your stuff.
Caller 1
Hey, Paige.
Hannah
Hey, Hannah.
Caller 1
It's mc.
Hannah
I noticed a lot of peep toe shoes shown on the Runway at Fashion Week. I was wondering if y' all think they're coming back. Are we wearing our dogs out to the office? I'm worried. I'm concerned. I feel sick. Please let me know.
Paige
Wait.
Hannah
I love her voice.
Paige
Peep toes are so back and I'm so here for it.
Hannah
Can you define peep toe for me?
Paige
So.
Hannah
Because she lost me when.
Paige
Okay. You know when you put your foot into a pump and you don't see your toes because it's either. It's like a pointy toe.
Hannah
Yeah.
Paige
Peep toe. It has like that little hole where you can see like right where my.
Hannah
My toes are becoming, like, numb.
Paige
Yes. Like, the first two toes, you can see them. They're back. Well, back to like our stirrup leggings. You could wear them with those. I personally think they're more of a summer shoe. Like, I think you're going to see it more like, I started wearing them at the end of this summer. I think you're going to see them more like spring into summer. But yes, peep toes are back.
Hannah
I'd like a peep toe. Cuz sometimes I don't like all my toes showing.
Paige
Yes. Yeah.
Hannah
Like, you're like, oh, cover up.
Paige
Sorry.
Hannah
I'm a little bit of a prude. Like, let's start slow with little peep toe. I like that.
Paige
But her question is, are you wearing them to the office? I don't know what your office vibe is. I.
Hannah
We're not allowed in offices.
Paige
I would advise maybe. No. Because unless like in the summer, if you go to your office and you wear like open toe shoes, then. Okay. It's just like, I don't know. I don't know.
Hannah
Yeah, I think.
Paige
I think if you're wearing like a flare pant, you can wear them, but maybe it's not like the whole main show.
Hannah
Oh, my God. Quick story. There was a girl in a good flare pant in soho and I walked by her.
Paige
Nothing more than a girl in a good flare pant.
Hannah
It looked so. Because it was like a statement. And she was standing there like, taking a picture of herself. And I was like, okay. Like, she clearly likes her outfit. And I just decided to be, like, so thoughtful and nice and give her a compliment.
Paige
You're like, that's another pant.
Hannah
I said, I love your pants. And she just looked at me and said, thanks. And I was like, well, I'm never complimenting anyone again.
Paige
That's sad.
Hannah
If a girl and this is the thing. Yeah. She said, thanks, but if a girl doesn't look at me and say, oh, my God, thank you. That's the nicest thing you ever said. Where do you want, like, then now I'm like, I'm gonna fight with this girl.
Paige
Like, I actually take it back.
Hannah
I should take it back. But anyway, there are good flare pants on Depop, that I'm probably gonna get.
Paige
