Hi.
Ari
Hi.
Ange
Are the, Are the lights like especially bright today?
Ari
I don't know. How you feeling?
Ange
Hi, I'm Ange.
Ari
And I am Ari and this is Girls Going Bible.
Ange
We are a faith based podcast where we talk all things about Jesus. We love Jesus with all of our hearts. He is the God who legitimately saved our lives, rescued us, saved us, healed our mental health, healed us from various issues, countless issues. That's what he does. He helps us in our weaknesses and in our issues. And so we say, come as you.
Ari
Are, just don't stay that way.
Ange
Yeah, sweet baby. Ari and I, we wanted to have an episode this week about so as a lot of people might know, Ari and I had the special opportunity to say the opening prayer at the Trump rally. Let me turn this off. At the Trump rally this past weekend in Washington dc. It's been insane. It's been absolutely insane. We really just wanted to give you guys an inside look into our hearts into this weekend. We want to give you guys specifics. We want to tell you why, what, how, where, when, and we just want to invite you in on this particularly sensitive topic, which is politics. And I just want to start out with saying that Ari and I love Jesus with all of our hearts and we are not here to merge politics and Christianity together. That is probably the trickiest thing you could ever do. And while bless the ones who do it, that's not what Ari and I are here to do. And we just want to make that abundantly clear. That's not, that's not our purpose, that's not our motive. And before we begin, I just want to say one thing and I just want to put it out there. I don't care who you voted for. I don't care if you are here listening to this Podcast. If you were somebody who has been watching us from a for a long time, saw us at the inauguration, felt disappointed, feel like now maybe you don't belong or you're not welcome or you're not accepted, I want you to know that that is the opposite of the truth. There are, there are two sides, but it's not Republican and Democrat. It's either the kingdom of God or the kingdom of hell. So if you're in the kingdom of God, which I know that you are, we are on the same team. And I break the spirit of division right now in Jesus name and I pray a spirit of unity over all of us, over everybody in America and all over the world, because that's what we're here to do, is unify. We are brothers and sisters in Christ. That's not a cliche. I mean that with my whole heart. I don't care where you come from, what you believe in, where you are, your welcome here, and I want you to stay. I want you to feel safe here.
Ari

So Ari and I had the honor, truly of. We ended up in the same place as now President Trump. Back then, he was not the president yet. We had the opportunity to pray for him and we posted a video where we both laid hands on the President and we prayed for him and we prayed a really sincere prayer that was not catered to any sort of agenda. We simply, like, prayed for him the way that we would pray for each other or someone random or a stranger who needed help. Like, we literally just prayed that he'd have joy, that he'd have peace, and that the Holy Spirit would reveal Jesus to him. And so that happened a while back, and then Trump's campaign advisor basically reached out to us and gave us this opportunity to go and open the rally. And what did you feel leading up to it? Like, what. How did you feel?
Ari
I was really nervous. I wanted to honor God and I wanted to. It's really tricky when you get involved in politics because there is a spirit of division, and it's just tricky. And Angela and I always want to come from a place of unity and love and acceptance. That's what we stand for. But I was really honored. I was really honored because I knew that God had called us to that, that platform to say that prayer and to preach the name of Jesus. And so I was so nervous for two weeks. I just wanted to, you know, honor our president and bless our president and bless this country and pray the name of Jesus. And so I really was at the feet of Jesus for two weeks, just talking to him every day and being like, what do you want me to say? And how can I. How can I just honor you and come from a place of love? And so leading up to it was very nerve wracking. We've also never been on a stage that big. We've never spoken in front of that many people. And so I didn't know what to expect. It was just really nerve wracking. But then when we got there, it was almost like the. The peace of God fell upon you and I, and it was a really beautiful thing. I felt complete peace. And I knew that we were supposed to be there. I just knew it. And so I felt complete peace. And I thought it was a beautiful thing. And it was. It was a beautiful moment. It was an honor. It really was an honor. It was an honor.
Ange
Yeah.
Ari
Yeah. How did you feel.
Ange
You know, when we got this opportunity? I am like, I am just somebody who. I rely on the voice of God so much. We're in such an interesting world where, like, this is not the first political opportunity that we've been giving. We've always. We have a mission, we have a message, and we have a purpose. And for me personally, that's not my message and it's not my purpose. And so this was the first opportunity that I, I just want people to know that when we do stuff like this, we are so prayerful and we are so thoughtful. And I don't step into any space without the spirit of God. Like, I. I rely on Jesus and just because something is big and a stage and in front of people, like, that's Even more of a possibly say no to something, because it's that much more of a responsibility. So us going there, from my perspective, there was so much prayer that went into it, and there was so much in me that was like, jesus, I am so okay with you not allowing this to happen. I'm waiting on you. But I. I felt like I got a word from God. I felt like he spoke to me very clearly, and he said, I'm putting you in a space where people are going to want you to conform and to cater and to bend towards an agenda, because that's what the world is. Everybody. There's an agenda within every situation, everywhere. And I knew that God was asking me to step into a place that is unknown territory to me and speak the name of God without compromise and without catering to anybody except Jesus. And so I write out my prayer, and I write out this prayer that I was sure. How many times did I say it? They're not gonna let me say this. I was like, this is a rally where, like, comedians go where they. Kid Rock performed after us. I'm like, there's no way they're about to let me say this prayer. And I knew I had an agreement with God that if they came back and told me, sorry, you have to take this out or take this out, I would immediately say, thank you so much for the opportunity. But it's not for me. Like, this was a situation where I would not compromise. And when we got the okay and the approval on the prayers, I looked and I said, that is truly the favor of God to God will literally bend people's hearts and position people's hearts in your favor to allow you to, like, succeed in furthering the kingdom. It's just what he does. And so I was like, okay. That was confirmation for me that, like, we're good. This is good. We get to D.C. it's like, you guys have to understand, I am a little Albanian immigrant. I think about my parents, and it makes me emotional. I think about my parents who went through so much to come to this country, who grew up in absolute political terror. Like, grew up in Communist Albania, where you. There's no freedom of speech. There was no freedom of religion. It was a disaster. And for them to come here and, like, my parents aren't involved politically whatsoever, but to have their little girl in a situation like this when, like, all they ever wanted to have was, like, bread and water, bread and milk to put on the table for their kids, like, this was it. It's. It is an honor. It is an honor, no matter who's there. And so we get there. And for me, personally, I think I'm so big on, like, the authority of God, and this was the first time, like, I have authority. No matter what situation I'm in. I could be with the president or the leader of any nation, and I won't be intimidated because I know the authority that I have comes from within. It's not about my external circumstances, but this was the first time. It's like. It was interesting seeing the difference between, like, a GGB night, where you go there and you know your authority, because that's your territory, that's your domain. Like, you know, you're good. We walk into this place where I'm like, I don't. I don't feel like I have authority here. These people don't. I doubt these people want to hear the gospel preach. I doubt these people. These people don't know us. They don't care. They don't. Whatever. And so I was fully prepared to walk out there. I was fully prepared to walk out there and be met with people who were completely uninterested and unfortunately not entertained nor wanting to hear what we had to say. And I was prepared for that. And I knew, like, I would not compromise. Regardless of what the response was. Ari and I go out there. We are incredibly surprised at the response that we're seeing in the audience about people genuinely, like, bowing their heads, raising their hands. You see people crying their eyes out.
Ari
Beautiful.
Ange
You know, we pray a prayer, and you feel a shift in an arena of over 20,000 people. You feel the presence of God. You. You feel reverence for Jesus in a room that it doesn't otherwise make sense. Like, we're in this room where people are probably, maybe even drinking. Like, nobody's really. Nobody's there for what we have to say. However, you speak the name of Jesus and you give honor to it, and reverence fills the room.
Ari
It was beautiful, and it was. It was a room full of people that just had a love for Jesus. And you could see it. And I. I was just looking out, and they had their hands on their heart, and they're rocking back and forth, and they're going like this. It was truly one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

I, we do that. We leave. And then it was an interesting feeling afterwards because you're just full of so many different emotions. And again, it was something completely out of our comfort zone and something very sensitive. And I'm just gonna be really honest in saying, like, we went up to one of the, like, balcony things, and we watch a little bit of the rest of the rally, and, you know, Kid Rock performs after us. It's a very different tone to what we went out there to say. And then, you know, there's a somebody who goes and gives a speech afterwards. And. And I'm. And I realized very quickly that, you know, the messages that are spoken after Ari and I go have a very different tone to what we were saying and a different tone to what Jesus says. And that was an interesting wrestle in my own heart of being like, there was a moment where I went to my room, and because emotions were so high, I had to have an honest conversation with Jesus, and I had to be like, did we get this right? We got it right. Right. Like, you spoke this, I'm just feeling a lot right now. And then, as you said, there's voices and people speaking. And I think what I've learned more than anything this past weekend is that the praise of man and the criticism of man, both of them are to be treated equally. We cannot be governed by the praise of man or by the Creator. Everyone talks about you can't be, like, governed by the fear of man. You can't care what people think, but you like if they're talking bad about you. But you also can't be governed by the people who are saying good things about you. Because this is a very funny situation where we have both sides. We have people heavily praising us, and then we have people who are really not happy and who don't understand it. And so I'm listening to the people critiquing and it puts doubt in my heart. But then I'm listening to the people praising and it puts confidence in my heart. And I immediately realized that I need neither of these things. And I had to focus in and zero in on Jesus and back pedal and, like, retrace my steps. And every time I went either way, whether I was listening to the praise or listening to the criticism, I had to, like, literally remove it from my mind and be like, what did God speak originally? What did he say? He said, I want you to go and I want you to speak my name, and I want you to minister in a room of people who are not expecting this. And I had to all, like, constantly come back because I don't want. Even if people are saying something is good, it might not be God. You know what I mean? So we can't be ruled by either of these things. So it's been a really interesting situation. And I think, personally I've learned so much. This is, like, incredible training ground. It's in front of a lot of people, but you know what I mean? And First Timothy, chapter two, verses one to two and four, say, I urge you first of all to pray for all people. Ask God to help them, intercede on their behalf and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. Jesus wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.
Ari
Yeah, I have a really hard time with division. All we ever want to do is preach the name of Jesus and we want to be followers of Jesus and. And be humble and keep our eyes on him.
Ange
It was a really. It's crazy politics are so emotionally charged and everybody has an opinion and it's completely understandable. And like, luckily we live in the land of the free where you're allowed to have an opinion and you're allowed to have your beliefs. I think it's been. Yeah, it's just, it's really, it's so touchy and it's so sensitive. And I just, like, for me personally, I, I have an issue with, I have an issue with people who do like blanket statements of things like, oh, if you are on this stage, it means that you're this. Or if you believe in this person, it means you're. If you believe. If you're a Republican, it means you're this blanket statement. If you're a Democrat, it means you're this blanket. And I, like, my heart broke because I saw a girl comment on our last video and she wrote this long message and she was like, I just don't know what to do anymore. Like, I saw you guys pray at the inauguration and I just, like, I'm done. She's like, I feel like I can't even be a Christian because I'm not conservative. I feel like I'm. I'm like, looked down upon as a Christian and so many people feel that way. And like Ari said, like, we are not by Republican values, nor are we by Democratic values. We are by these values, the biblical values. And sometimes one party or the other party lines up with those more. And that's how we vote. That's how we believe. That's what we lean towards, is when any policy or, or law or anything lines up with the word of God. That's what we believe. And I just, But I just want to say if you are on the other side, you are just as much a follower of Jesus as everybody else. If you follow the values in this Bible, if you follow the commands of Jesus and you're walking and not in s, but you're walking in righteousness the way that Jesus asked you to. And you don't need to feel any less than. And I just want to say one thing. Conservative does not equal Christian. That's like my thing. It doesn't. And we're in this world. There are a lot of Christians who don't follow Jesus.
Ari
Yeah.
Ange
And I said it in my prayer. I said, Christianity is not a moral belief. It's not a set of rules and regulations. If you, if you are following a Christianity, that's just a set of rules, burn them. Burn them. Because that's not what Jesus came and died for. Jesus came and died so that you could have life and have eternally and more abundantly, not so that you could follow a lifeless religion or you could just proclaim. Or it's like a cultural belief, like you're just culturally Christian. That's not Christianity either. Christianity is worship of the crucified and risen Christ. It is like a supernatural relationship with the God who created you. We're walking around and we're in these places where everyone is labeled as Christian. I'm like, and. And the truth is they don't follow Jesus. And so if you're not one of those people who's like, I just. It's a sensitive topic, but, like, I just want to bring clarity into every situation. Because if you are on the other side, you are just as much a follower of Jesus.
Ari
Yeah. And I believe. And that's what we said in our prayers. We just, I pray in this next four years for just unity, for us to come together, not to beat each other down. And, oh, this one believes in this and this one. Enough is enough. Like, I pray like we all just become in the image of Jesus that. That sense of humility just falls upon us all. And we can all, no matter what race, what religion, what belief, whatever you are. I just pray that we all come together in unity. Because I have never seen more of a divisive nation more than this past four years. It's been really tough. It's been. You can feel it. It's been heavy. It's been hard. And that's not what Jesus wants. And I just, I pray for humility, like the humility of Jesus. This.

We really do take everything to heart what you guys say to us because we love you guys so much. But we got some comments of saying why are you guys even getting involved in this? And things like that. Because guys, politics are important. They are like this is our country and God appoints leaders. He does. He appoints people. And while leaders have power, God is in control. I just want to read you guys something from Daniel 2, verse 20:21. He said praise the name of God forever and ever, for he has all wisdom and power. He controls the course of world events. He removes kings and sets up other K things. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars.
Ange
Love that you say that so much because it's the absolute. It's the truth. It's the truth. And like, like Ari said, politics are important. They're our leaders. Like these things are. They're important. But I, I love there's so much obviously before this we're studying Jesus in politics. Jesus in politics. And again, we're not here to merge the two. We're not here to become politician. Like the only reason we're having this conversation is because past weekend happened. There are two different kingdoms. There's the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of God and then there's the kingdom of darkness. We live in the kingdom of darkness. Earth is the kingdom of darkness. Heaven is the kingdom of God. And Jesus all throughout scripture talks about these two different kingdoms and he always differentiates them. And in the Lord's Prayer he says you this is how he teaches his disciples to pray. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Jesus is telling us to pray and call on heaven to bring heaven down from that kingdom to this kingdom. Because at that time Jesus's whole time of being alive is total political chaos. He grew up in political unrest. He grew up in the Roman Empire. Jerusalem is taken over by Rome. And Jesus is in a time where politics are. They're crazy is honestly replicates what is happening today. And so Jesus is constantly talking about how because Jesus is a citizen of Rome, so he's a part of the Roman Empire empire. And Jesus sees that in his. In the government of his time, in the pol political life and politicians of his time. It's deceitful. It's wrong. They cheat, they lie. It's evil. It's not the way that God intended it to be. And so he's telling us to call on heaven to bring the kingdom of God down to this world so that our governments can reflect the governments and the world in heaven. There's the moment in the Gospels where the Pharisees come and they try to trick Jesus and they ask. They basically, I'm paraphrasing, but it's like, should we pay taxes? Should we pay taxes to Caesar? Jesus says, bring me a coin and who's on the denari? And they're like, it's Caesar. And he's like, okay, then in that case, pay to Caesar what is Caesar's. Render to Caesar what is Caesar's, and render to God what is God's. And so he's telling him, you have to answer to both. Yeah, we answer to the government. Government, and we answer to Jesus. And ultimately, above everything else, we answer to God. But there's this tension that we're in where we don't want to get heavily involved in politics because we don't. That's not the message of Jesus. He never called on any sort of political power. He doesn't care about political agendas. It doesn't really matter. It doesn't change his kingdomship in heaven, who's president here on earth. However, it's both. And there's another part where Jesus said, says, my kingdom is not of this world. He's always differentiating, differentiating between the two. My kingdom is not of this world. He reigns somewhere else. And regardless of who's president, it doesn't change whether Jesus is king or not. And so we say all that to say that politics are difficult, they're difficult to talk about, they're difficult to involved in, be involved in, because they're so triggering. They're so emotionally charged. And Ari and I love you. We love you. Jesus loves you. We're here for you. We're not here for any sort of political movement. We're here to promote biblical values.
Ari
Yeah, we are. When we start to get feed into these lies, we're like, we're living in the kingdom of darkness. And I. And I have. We have been living in it for a very long time. And enough is enough. We need to bring Jesus back, back into this world. We need to bring him back, because I can't even imagine what he. What he feels. We're doing whatever we want. We're living however we want. I feel for so many people, but it's just not biblical. It's just not what God wants and it's not how we feel. And that's how we're living in these times. We're living the way we feel and, and when we live in the way we feel, we're living in deception. Our world is like, like it's messy and heavy and, and I almost feel like we're living, we're truly living in the devil's playground. And, and so we just need to get back to biblical roots.
Ange
If I could just say anything. You need to know why you believe what you believe. Like, you need to have a deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, strong conviction. And I just see sometimes, what I see mostly in politics, especially within young people, is that there's often times when people believe something or go along with some sort of agenda that's not biblical. They don't even know why they believe what they believe.
Ari
They don't. And we see it in so many videos of they ask them, why do you believe that? They don't even know what to say.
Ange
Hollywood is not the place where you should be getting your information. Hollywood is not where you should be forming your beliefs and opinions. And like, honestly, honestly going on that stage, as much of a internal wrestle as it was, I would have been living in active disobedience if I didn't do it. And my stance is all like, my favorite thing is talking about how Jesus didn't need political power. I love it. I love, I love that he was a revolutionary rebel and he did not need any of them, the Pharisees, the Sadduce, like everybody, the religious leaders and the political leaders of his time, like he didn't need them. And that's what I rely. I just love it. I love it and I love to keep that same energy. And at the same time I knew not going would be me being disobedient. And it was like I would have rather not put myself in a position to be either criticized or it's just heavy. And it's a lot of people and you don't even know if they're going to receive what you are saying. But I like one of the most powerful stages of all time. It's like when people say that Christian shouldn't be in Hollywood and it's like, that's the most powerful place in the world. How are we not going to have, have people of light in there speaking to harness some, like, you know what I mean? And then so we step on to legitimately the most powerful stage in the entire world. And I truly believe we stay true to our values and the message that we want to, to speak. And that's just Jesus. Repent. Turn from your wicked ways and turn towards Jesus because he loves you so much.
Ari
Yeah.
Ange
And people talk about Christian nationalism, it being a bad thing. How you like, you add Christianity into just like, like a Nash, make it a national thing as opposed to it being individual and like, while yes, I understand. And the freedom to religion, freedom for speech, freedom for everything is the most incredible, important thing. And you have lobbyists and donors, hundreds and hundreds and hundreds, even thousands of them in office making decisions and having their interests and their agendas represented in the government and in policies and in laws and everything. Why would we not bring Christianity into those spaces and have our interests and our, our beliefs represented in the government? You know what I mean? Church and state are separate and, and we need to do everything we can to have things be centered around Jesus as much as we can. And sometimes that's stepping into spaces that don't necessarily make sense and risking division, which is all I've been praying for. That every single person who sees us there would, that God would open their eyes and open their hearts and see the real, real reason why we're there and the message that we're bringing, you know what I mean? And the motivation.
Ari

I think my wrestle just like, you know, focusing on God. Like, we're in such an interesting position. Position. We've never done this before. We're learning to say no. What to say no to, what to say yes to. And I think I'm in a situation where there are things that feel really comfortable because there are Lane and then there are things like this past weekend that for me were, like, insane. Like, that's certainly not our Lane. It's definitely not a GGB show or coming on Girls Gone by, you know what I mean? And realizing that God if. If he trusts you. And that's what I felt that I bawled my eyes out the whole plane ride there. I felt the delight of God all over me, and I just felt him whispering into my heart, I trust you. Yeah, I trust you. I trust that you're gonna go there. And honestly, if we didn't open it in prayer, a comedian would have opened it telling jokes, you know what I mean? The opportunity to go there, regardless of whose name was in the band, regardless of which president, the fact that we got to go and speak on live television and speak the name of Jesus, that is our motivation. That is like, I will.
Ari
And that was. And that. That's what it was all about for us, by the way. It was what our mindsets were. Wow. We get to go on stage and preach the name of Jesus and tell them how awesome he is and amazing.
Ange
He is and not cater to the room that we're. That was what I was so excited because I. I'm sure they would, you know, like, I'm just. I am mostly proud that we went there. And then we walked off that stage and said, you know what? I did not fold under pressure. I did not cater to whoever was around and whoever was listening. And I didn't water anything down to make people more comfortable. We brought the glory of God in that place. And, like, that was prayed for unity.
Ari
And love and that we would help each other and all these things. And, and it was just such an honor to be able to do that. And we hope that you guys can see our viewpoint and those who feel discouraged by us and understand that Angela and I really, we. All we want is unity and love and people to know Jesus.
Ange
All we want is for people to.
Ari
Know Jesus and for people to follow this thing because this is the only thing that is true and real and works not to follow their own ways of living, but just follow Jesus. That's all we want.
Ange
And so, and scripture says that our citizenship is in heaven and we wait for our Savior. This is not our true citizenship. It's not like so setting your eyes on things above and understanding like Jesus is so radically against division. Jesus is so if there's a political agenda or anything that causes division, vision, which is literally the world that we're living in, I promise you, if, if the, if you're getting mad at your brother or sister for, for some sort of political something, just understand that Jesus wants nothing more than for you to lean in and love that person regardless of their beliefs. I would encourage everybody to. And, and I'm speaking to myself too because I know how fired up I get because I know there are some things when any, when anything thing is anti this it hurts me deeply and I, and I pray that one day I will get to a place of maturity in my faith that I will never look down on the person, but I look down on the, the devil that has confused them and perverted their thinking and, and, and program them to believe things that are not the truth. But it's hard sometimes. Yeah, it's hard sometimes you see someone who believes in something different and you know the truth. You know the truth. And, and I'm like, I, you're. You hate it. You want. But like in those moments I have done. I used to get. I'm just going to say I used to get so emotionally charged about politics when I started following Jesus and I got super headstrong about what I believed, what I knew to be the truth. I was probably not kind in my own heart about people who went against what I believed. I thought they were stupid, I thought they were evil, I thought they were demonic. And God has worked in the past two years, probably God has worked so much in my heart and being like, I don't want you to look at people like that. People don't even know why they believe what they believe sometimes. Most of the time they're programmed. They're brainwashed. They're, they're, you know what I mean? And so if somebody has a different belief than you and you feel that division coming into your heart, remember this moment and actively combat that division, that spirit of division, because that's what it is. And choose to love that person, choose to love them.
Ari
I love that you say that. And you know, I felt that way so much watching some of the speakers. And so one thing that I wrestle with, I'm like, some of these people don't know. Like, they don't know. And they've been through so much in their life and they don't know better. They've been abused, They've, like, we're beating people down when they simply. You don't know how, how someone grew up. You don't know what they've been through. You don't know how hurt they feel in their heart or how they've been taught or ra or programmed by their parents. We don't know that. And so to come from a place of beating someone down that isn't of God also. So if you're a, have, if you're a Republican Christian, but you're beating someone down, well, then that's not a true follower of Jesus either. And so I love that you say that because we really do have to look at people in a lens of wow, like that would, would Jesus ever do that?
Ange
He's.
Ari
He's not going to condemn anyone. That's why I'm like, if we just get to know Jesus, then we will. Our attitudes are all gonna radically change. We are not gonna have hate the way that this world does. And so I love that you say that. I have a hard time with watching people just talk mean about people and what and why they do. It's like, that is not going to get you anywhere. And that's not going to get the truth to anyone's heart. When you come from a place of hate and beating them down, that only makes them run away even more. So I pray in the name of Jesus that we come together. And even if they have this point of view that is so opposite from you, you go in your heart and you say, man, maybe they don't know better. And that's not, they probably don't. And that's not for you to judge. That isn't. And that's same with you. Like, you used to get fired up. Me too. But I, I have met so many people, especially since girls gone Bible, so many walks of life. And I've heard so many stories of the pain and brokenness and how they grew up and how so many people don't know better. And it's not that they're bad and they have evil viewpoints. It's that they just don't know. And that's not for us to judge them. That's not for us to beat them down. That's for us to let them let Jesus deal with that.
Ange
Totally. 100%. 100%. I'm so happy that you just said that, because. Can we talk openly? Honestly?
Ari
Yeah.
Ange
What is wrong with the world of politics? Can I ask? I've only been like, was it always like. It is the most vicious. It's vicious, verbally abusive, violent. These are, like, the leaders of the world.
Ari
They act like children and they're all.
Ange
Making fun of each other and. And they're, like, doing roast. And I am so confused. That's why I had that moment after I was watching, and I was like, I'm not. I don't stand for that. I don't. Like. Like, what.
Ari
When. When I see, like, debates from both sides and I see how they're beating each other down, I have this moment of being of, like, I see the devil in the middle of them, and I'm like, if you would just look at them and say, man, okay, and you come from a place of love and actually talk to them instead of fighting like. Like children, they would be like, wow, okay, maybe they would understand better. But like I said, when you come from a place of just fighting and evil and be you, you will get nowhere.
Ange
I don't want to see anybody who's acting so ungodly tell me that. They're like, I can't stand it. This is what I mean by like, I am just so against people. Cl. Like, I love, love and listen. I just had the fear of God hit me because I realized, like, I, too, once claimed to be a Christian. When I acted in ways different, I wasn't being mean to people and. But I was acting ungodly. But, like, to see Christianity represented, this is my issue. To see, like, this is what's hard about it, because Christianity being pushed, like, it's, like, good and bad. It's really good because Jesus's name is being exalted and it's out there. But then if it's not authentic, then there is no transformative power. And the cross, the cross of Christ loses its power. This is my issue with just, like, the whole, like, Christian movement. It's tough. It's so tough. I refuse to be in a position where like, we stab Christianity on something and say that, no, it's not. No, it's not. And treating people this and everyone, it's just so tough.
Ari
It's my biggest prayer that we will start to come to people in a place of love. We have to pray that people will start waking up and knowing what the truth is. And it's this, it's the view, it's this. It's not what we think, it's not what you think, it's not what Republicans think, it's not what liberals think, it's not what any. It's just what God says.
Ange
Amen.
Ari
That's it. I mean, that's it. We don't even need to say anything else in this episode. We just have to follow Jesus and what the Word says and stop trying to make. Make up our own rules and live however we want. That's where life got flipped upside down. That's what happened, basically. And that's when everything became very divisive.
Ange
Yeah, 100%.
Ari
Because we wanted to make our own rules. And that's just not the way God intended us to live. He didn't intend us to make up our own rules. He intended us to live for him.
Ange
Amen.
Ari
And that's it.
Ange
Preach it, baby. Yeah. 100%. All hail King Jesus. That's all I have to say.
Ari
All hell, King Jesus.
Ange
Just want to say we love you guys so much. And if you have felt any bit of division with Ari, and I just know that you are welcome here, you are loved by us. I pray that you won't leave. If you do, that's okay. We bless you in Jesus name and I just pray that God would be with you. But we love you and. And we want you here. We want you with us. We are the body of Christ. We are not left nor right. We are citizens of the kingdom of God, the body of Christ. You are my brothers and sisters and I love you with everything in me.
Ari
We always want to come from a place of love. And no matter what side you're on, we love you and we are together. And just like Angela said, we're brothers and sisters and we love you.
Ange
Yeah, we love you. We love you so much. Thank you guys for being here. Thank you for loving us. We love you so much. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May he make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. May he turn his face towards you and give you peace. We love you.

Hosts: Angela Halili and Arielle Reitsma
Podcast Description: Hosted by Angela Halili and Arielle Reitsma, Girls Gone Bible explores all things Jesus and life, featuring two imperfect girls serving an absolutely perfect God. They aim to foster unity and promote biblical values amidst life's challenges.
In this thought-provoking episode titled "Jesus x Politics," Angela and Ari delve into the delicate intersection of faith and political engagement. Drawing from their unique experience of praying at a Trump rally, the hosts aim to provide listeners with an inside look into their hearts and the complex emotions surrounding their involvement in a politically charged environment.
Angela and Ari begin by recounting their unprecedented opportunity to lead the opening prayer at a Trump rally in Washington, D.C. This event marked a significant moment for them, blending their faith with a high-stakes political setting.
Notable Quote:
Angela shares her initial stance, saying, “Ari and I love Jesus with all of our hearts and we are not here to merge politics and Christianity together. That is probably the trickiest thing you could ever do.” (01:23)
Leading up to the rally, both hosts experienced a whirlwind of emotions. Ari speaks candidly about her nervousness and the spiritual preparation that grounded her during this time.
Notable Quote:
Ari reflects, “I was really nervous. I wanted to honor God and I wanted to... come from a place of unity and love and acceptance.” (05:45)
Angela emphasizes her reliance on God's voice, highlighting the importance of prayer and seeking divine guidance before stepping into such a prominent and potentially divisive platform.
Notable Quote:
Angela states, “I rely on Jesus... there's so much prayer that went into it, and there was so much in me that was like, Jesus, I am so okay with you not allowing this to happen.” (04:42)
Upon arrival at the rally, both Angela and Ari describe feeling an overwhelming sense of peace and divine presence that reassured them of their purpose.
Notable Quote:
Ari shares, “When we got there, it was almost like the peace of God fell upon us, and I felt complete peace. I knew we were supposed to be there.” (06:30)
During their prayer, they observed tangible shifts in the audience's demeanor—hands on hearts, people crying, and a collective reverence for Jesus, which contrasted sharply with the rest of the event's tone.
Notable Quote:
Ari recounts, “It was a room full of people that just had a love for Jesus... it was truly one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.” (13:08)
A central theme of the episode revolves around distinguishing between political affiliations and the kingdom of God. Angela and Ari stress that their mission is not to align with any political party but to uphold biblical values and promote unity among believers.
Notable Quote:
Angela clarifies, “There are two sides, but it's not Republican and Democrat. It's either the kingdom of God or the kingdom of hell.” (02:XX)
The hosts discuss the complexity of merging faith with politics, acknowledging the challenges of maintaining unity in a divided political landscape.
Notable Quote:
Ari adds, “All we ever want to do is preach the name of Jesus and we want to be followers of Jesus and be humble and keep our eyes on him.” (21:15)
Angela and Ari intertwine their discussion with biblical references, grounding their viewpoints in scripture. They highlight passages that emphasize prayer for all people, the authority of God over earthly rulers, and the distinction between God's kingdom and worldly politics.
Notable Quote:
Referencing First Timothy, Angela states, “First Timothy, chapter two, verses one to two and four, say, I urge you first of all to pray for all people... Jesus wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.” (19:XX)
They also discuss Jesus's interactions with political figures of His time, illustrating His approach to governance and personal integrity.
Notable Quote:
Angela explains, “My kingdom is not of this world. He reigns somewhere else. And regardless of who's president, it doesn't change whether Jesus is king or not.” (32:XX)
A significant portion of the episode focuses on breaking down barriers and fostering unity among Christians, irrespective of their political beliefs. Angela and Ari emphasize that true followers of Jesus should transcend partisan lines and work towards collective harmony.
Notable Quote:
Angela passionately shares, “If you're on the other side, you are just as much a follower of Jesus as everybody else.” (23:39)
Ari echoes this sentiment, advocating for humility and love as the foundational principles that should guide interactions, especially in politically charged settings.
Notable Quote:
Ari prays, “We just have to be in the image of Jesus... some kind of humility just falls upon us all.” (24:XX)
The hosts candidly discuss the internal struggles they faced after the rally, grappling with both praise and criticism from different quarters. Angela shares her journey of overcoming doubt and reaffirming her commitment to their mission.
Notable Quote:
Angela reflects, “I was like, maybe they don't know better. And that's not for us to judge. That's not for us to beat them down. That's for us to let Jesus deal with that.” (35:XX)
This introspection leads them to reaffirm the importance of staying true to their values and the message of love and unity that they aim to spread.
In wrapping up the episode, Angela and Ari reiterate their unwavering commitment to following Jesus and promoting biblical values over political agendas. They encourage listeners to seek unity, love one another, and prioritize their relationship with Christ above all else.
Notable Quote:
Ari concludes, “That's what it was all about for us... We hope that you guys can see our viewpoint and those who feel discouraged by us and understand that Angela and I really, all we want is unity and love and people to know Jesus.” (42:25)
Angela adds a heartfelt farewell, extending love and blessings to their audience, emphasizing the inclusive and loving nature of their community.
Notable Quote:
Angela warmly states, “You are welcome here, you are loved by us. We bless you in Jesus name and I just pray that God would be with you. But we love you and we want you here.” (51:48)
