I know today is a good one. I watched a video on this from the Chosen and he's so cute. I love the Chosen. Seriously, if you guys haven't watched the Chosen, I encourage you to watch it. I'm such a visual person. So watching the Chosen, just bringing everything to life, it helps you understand things so much better. So if you're new to even new, it's the first thing I did even before I read the Bible.

So yeah, go to Netflix and watch the Chosen. Yeah. So you guys, today we are talking about the Beatitudes. If you have your Bible, you can go to Matthew chapter 5. The Beatitudes are basically a series of blessings from Jesus's Sermon on the Mount. And it's like an outline of different values and attributes that you are supposed to have. It's like a guideline for people in the kingdom of God. And I love the Beatitudes because it basically starts out with it's eight different points of saying, like, blessed are those who. And then it's followed by some sort of value and then it's followed by the promised reward that comes from having that attribute. Attribute. That attribute and that value. And yeah, I just, I love the Beatitudes so much because the Beatitudes are Jesus. Yeah, the Beatitudes. He not only taught. I was so emotional this morning in my quiet time because I was just. I opened the Beatitudes and I'm just thinking about them and then I realized that like the Lord taught this. These Are his words that he spoke, spoke. Two thousand years ago, he taught these, and now we get to come on and teach them. Like, what an honor. What a privilege. We could talk about anything today. We could talk about things that are so click baity. We can talk about things that are. We can have a massive guest on. We could do, like, so many different things. And I, like, like, just got wrecked today thinking about, like, I'm just so grateful that we're coming on and talking about the Beatitudes. And maybe nobody will watch this episode, but it's like, this is what he spoke, these words, and this is like, number one thing that matters, you know?

Yeah. In a world that promotes, you know, that money and self promotion and the nice car. And he's like, no, this is what happiness is. And it really is. And you really understand that when you start your walk with Jesus, what real happiness is. And it's all of these. And it's like when even reading these, I was like, yeah, those who mourn will be comforted. Right?

[Ang]

So good. I love, I love. Yeah. And so before we get into them, I just wanted to say, like, the whole point of being Christian is to look more like Jesus. Like, every single day, we're supposed to look like Jesus. Jesus is supposed to be formed in us. When we read the Beatitudes, we're not just supposed to read them. We're supposed to literally let them inhabit themselves within us. They, the Beatitudes are supposed to manifest themselves in us, and that's how we are. That's how we aid in the Holy Spirit's work in, like, forming us into the image of God. And so we're just supposed to live these, eat these, breathe these. And I'm reading this morning and I realized that, like, I think throughout faith, when you first start reading the Bible, and I hope that everybody here reads the Bible, because if you don't, that's not good. We need to read the Bible. It's just the most. One of the most important parts of faith. It really is. You can't know Jesus if you don't know Scripture, because all of this points to him. But I'm thinking this morning about how, like, when you first start reading the Bible, you. Well, at first you're just kind of trying to get through it because you don't really know what's going on and you have no idea. Like, I remember when I first read it, I was like, sure, the Beatitudes. No idea what I'm reading. I'm just gonna keep going because it's like, I think it's good for me, and I think I'm supposed to read it. And then you kind of get a little more mature and you realize, okay, like, these apply to me. How do these apply to me? What does this mean for my life? How can I apply this? What is Jesus speaking to me directly? And it's always that the Lord is speaking to us directly. But then I real that then you enter into, like, an even more mature place in faith where you start asking Jesus questions about himself and you're like, okay, Lord, I'm reading this. What happened before the Sermon on the Mount? What happened after? What did the Sermon on the Mount? Like, what did that do for the disciples that then had, like, a domino effect to change the lives of so many others? Like, it's all about seeking and searching and asking the Holy Spirit, like, what does he mean in this moment? Like, what is he saying? And I realized this morning, because Ari and I both did this, like, intensive healing thing at a church. It was, like, inner healing work. And it was so beautiful for both of us. And they kind of had us walk through this thing where you just ask God questions. And I realized, like, I always talk about communing with the Holy Spirit, and I realized that communing with the Holy Spirit is literally communicating with the Holy Spirit. You just ask the Holy Spirit questions, and whether he answers on the spot, whether you hear the audible voice of God or not, whether you get a vision of the answer or not, we have to trust in faith that he's speaking, that he's faithful, a good dad who would answer questions from his children. And oftentimes our human brains can't comprehend what the Lord is speaking to our spirit, but the Spirit knows. And so this last week of my life, I'm sitting here every day asking the Holy Spirit question after question after question. Sometimes I feel like I get an answer. A lot of the time I feel like I don' and I realize, though, that I'm believing in faith, that he is depositing the answer within my spirit. And I believe that while my mind is not caught up, I will begin to walk out that answer in my life if I'm earnestly with, like, a sincere spirit asking him a question to know the answer, regardless of if. If I like the answer or not, he will download it into my spirit and it will. I'll walk it out within my life. Just ask Jesus questions, ask him questions. He speaks. Maybe not the way that we want him too, but, like, what I've learned is he's always speaking. We can't always hear him. Our minds are too busy. We're too distracted. We're too self centered and like. But our spirit knows. And I just. He. That's what it means to commune with the Holy Spirit, to be asking questions all day. God, what do you think about this? What do you think about that? And I know that might sound a little extreme, but it's not like he begins to speak. Yeah, he just wants you to ask.

[Ari]

And. And I say this all the time being real, Like, I wanted to tell you guys this because I said I can't wait to tell them this, but I sat down this morning and I was talking, I didn't feel anything. I said, I'm just gonna lay down. And I heard, come be real with me. And so I got back down, I said, okay. And I let out. It was the most shameful, like, things I didn't even want to admit about myself. And I let it all out. And then I just started crying and I got a touch and it was like, that is what we're all like, how do I hear from God? What do I. And we forget that he sees everything and he knows everything and he knows our thoughts, so why are we so scared? And so many times I hide away from him. I really do. I don't ever want. Like, I'm so ashamed that I will hide from prayer and I'll just pretend like nothing's happened because I feel like he's so ashamed of me. And when I let that out this morning, it was just like this release of like, I already know and thank you. And I was just like, I just felt so much love in that moment. And so nothing is too big for him. Nothing is. He already knows. So when we're just. When we come with a prayer of honesty, that's when you will feel release and freedom.

Really good.

[Ari]

Yeah.

[Ang]

Yeah. The last thing we'll start. But the last thing I'll say about that. I was thinking about that a lot yesterday, about how often I feel like God is so disappointed.

[Ari]

Yeah, it's.

[Ang]

And like, we all, including Ari and I. And you guys need to understand, he doesn't have disappointment in his eyes. Like, when he looks at us. He literally does not have disappointment in his eyes. You could have messed up the worst you've ever messed up right now, said the most awful thing, done the worst thing. And he doesn't have disappointment in his eyes. He has pride in his eyes.

[Ari]

He.

[Ang]

He sees Jesus when he looks at you. I know that, like, doesn't even fully make sense. And you have to ask Jesus, like, what does that fully mean? But what it means is that, like, when we think about the Father, we have to think about him with a smile on his face. And if you're someone like, I can relate, where you don't understand a father with a smile on his face, like, you have to just train yourself to understand. He has a smile on his face, pride in his eyes, obsessed with you. Literally obsessed with you. So cute. Okay, anyway. This episode is brought to you by nocd. And I love the Beatitudes because basically they all give way to the next one. One gives way to the next one. So do you want to start with the first one?

God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs. Yes, this has been one of the things on our walks. I mean I blessed are those who are poor and realize their need for Him. I need you. I can't do life without you, no matter what I have. It's nothing without you. That is someone who is poor in spirit. Isaiah 66:2 has my hand made all these things and so they came into being, declares the Lord. These are the things I look on with favor. Those who are humble and contrite and who tremble at my word, who have such respect for my word, who yearn for it, who hunger for it. I think about my walk with Jesus and I remember when I came to that place of what have I been doing my whole life? And I have been just in sin and just that. That coming to that place of spiritual humility and reverence, of being like that godly sorrow of just being like, I am so sorry. Not sitting in shame, not condemning myself for weeks and weeks. Really having that moment of deep sorrow of the sin and being like, I am so sorry, like I want to repent and turn my ways.

You know, Being poor in spirit means recognizing your spiritual poverty. It's understanding that you can't do anything without Jesus. Like being poor in spirit and recognizing your need for him bears is is the kingdom of God. It's like the Lord will only give you the kingdom if you admit that you could never earn it yourself. That's what being poor in spirit means. It's not just being like sad. It's about being completely weak and recognizing your weakness and being fully dependent on Him. And yeah, he is the kingdom that we receive. By the way, the kingdom doesn't mean like amazing things and this and that. It means like you receive the kingdom of God, you receive Jesus. He is the reward. He is like in every single one of these Beatitudes we receive a reward. And the reward is always Jesus, because the reward will always be Jesus. Jesus came for the spiritually poor. He came for the ones that are humble enough to admit their weakness. They came. Nobody can try to be righteous enough to like, earn something with Jesus. None of us are good enough. Number two, blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. And this is not just about grieving death. From my understanding, this beatitude was originally, you know, said by Jesus, talking about mourning over sin, mourning over your own sin, mourning over the sin of others. And it's basically just talking about, like, what Ari said. Like, mourning over sin should lead to godly repentance. Like, we should hate the sin in us and we should hate the sin in other people. Not the people, just the sin. And so there's just like this element to this beatitude where we shouldn't like what God doesn't like, you know what I mean? Like, our hearts should break when we see people sinning. We shouldn't be so desensitized to sin. Now, that doesn't mean that you, like, go after people and you gossip about that. You know what I mean? That's not what he's calling you to do by any means. But there should be, like, the closer you are to Jesus, there is an element where you feel the sin and suffering around you. And the point of this one is that Jesus invites you to grieve in that way because he wants to comfort you.

Yeah.

[Ang]

There's an intimacy that happens where it's like your loyalty lies so much with Jesus. That sin repels you.

[Ari]

Yeah.

[Ang]

And he. That's where he meets you, and it's like that's where he comforts you, you know?

[Ari]

Yeah. Blessed are those who mourn. Just started reading Jeremiah, and he weeps for his people all the time, grieving for God's people, grieving the sick, grieving the kids that are hurting and the poverty that we see, the corruption. Second Corinthi 7, verse 10. For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There is no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which leads to lack of repentance, results in spiritual death. The parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector is a great example of godly sorrow. Then Jesus told this story to some who had great confidence in their own righteous and scorned everyone else. Two men went to the temple to pray. One was a Pharisee and the other was a despised tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer. I thank you, God, that I am not like other people, cheaters, sinners, adulterers. I'm certainly not like that tax collector. I fast twice a week and I give you a tenth of my income. But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying, oh, God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner. I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home justified before God. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. And so having that mourning of, I'm sorry, I'm not perfect, I will never be like you, Jesus, but I am sorry. And mourning that. Having that moment of mourning that sin that we all go through, and that's what we go through in our walk with Jesus. When I had that moment of that deep sorrow of, oh, my gosh, what have I been doing? That's, you're blessed. You're blessed because you're on the right track of following Jesus. And so I didn't realize this scripture. I thought it really just meant, like, oh, blessed are those who mourn deaths. But no, blessed are those who come to the place of full repentance. Because when you come to that place of full repentance, that's when salvation comes.

That's so good.

[Ari]

And so it's so good every time.

[Ang]

You and I both know how good it feels. You think that, like, because when someone else calls out your sin and someone else calls out your flaws and imperfections, it's hurtful, it is offensive, and you don't like it most of the time, right? Like, nobody likes that. When Jesus calls out your sin and he gives you that moment to mourn and you see yourself for, like, oh, there's nothing like seeing the own impurity in your heart. There's nothing like lashing out or saying something you shouldn't say or acting in a way or. Or just doing something that you're like, oh, man, I am so. Like, it's so true that we all fall short of God's glory, but it does feel so good that morning of being like, okay, but I don't have to stay that way. Like, I can change. And you're blessed. You will. If you mourn your sin, Jesus will come in and comfort you so fast. I love it. That was really, really good. That brings us to one of my favorites. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Meekness is strength under control. It's humility, patience, gentleness. And it's not meekness is not being weak. It's choosing not to assert power for selfish gain, which is, like, Jesus usually does the opposite message that the world sends. And, like, you know, I think God has done a deep, deep work of Meekness in my own heart where like I used to be really, and I am still sometimes, obviously it's like a forever work in progress. But I used to be so self protecting, I used to be so guarded. I used to have so many. And like the closer you get to Jesus, the softer you should be getting, you know, like, you should be getting more sensitive, you should be getting more tender, you should be having less defenses if you're getting more callous, if you're getting more like something is wrong. And so for me, I'm like, I've, I used to be so much tougher than I am now. And like, I'm just going to say this for anyone listening because sometimes meekness can feel like weakness, but it's not if it's like if Jesus is in it. Because there have been moments, I'm not going to lie, where I've been like, man, being like Jesus makes you, can make you feel powerless sometimes. Because I remember back in the day when I had all these defenses and I didn't care and I was prideful and this like it does protect you. It's not good. And if you keep people out, you keep people out and that's not good and you keep God out. But as I've like gotten closer to Jesus and the defenses go, you're just like so much more vulnerable and it can feel like weakness, but it's, it's not, it's not being like Jesus who barely ever defended himself, who barely ever spoke up, who had all the power in the world to say, I'm not going to be crucified, I will actually just get down off of this cross. He never protected himself. He stayed meek and lowly and humble the entire time. And they shall inherit the earth. Like everything that God has for you will be yours if you stay meek like him. Like Ari said, God opposes the proud and he exalts the humble. And scripture also, what is that one that it's like, humble yourself before the mighty hand of God and in due time he will raise you up. So we talk about humility all the.

[Ari]

Time and yeah, humility, Jesus. Humility equals Jesus.

[Ang]

Yeah, totally.

[Ari]

I've been on such a journey too. And I think one of the most special things about your learning about Jesus and your walk is you can't help but read about Jesus and say, that's who I want to be. And I always thought, I say this all the time, but I always thought confidence was being just so like up in this. And I have this and all these things and it's I have learned. It's like being as low to the ground as possible. It makes me want to cry because it's he. Jesus is. He's. He is the definition of humility. You read about him with the sinners, how the forgiveness he's given, just the sinner sat with them, just on his hands and knees in the dirt, washing people's feet like that is. That's meekness and just loving people. And that's who you want to be. And whenever I think of when I'm confident, it's when I'm meek. And I'm not always meek. It's been a journey for me and you got to give yourself some grace. But I think for all of us, one of the greatest accomplishments we can all try to get to the finish line is being as meek as possible. Michael Culiano said something in a sermon the other day. I want to read it. He said, being as low to the ground sets you up for the Holy Spirit to come down to you. If you lift yourself up, he is not going to come on there, come up there with you. So if you guys want the presence of God, it's constantly being me, constantly being as low and humble. And how do you do that? You, you, you be a servant, you constantly be a servant, you constantly be helping others.

[Ang]

And that's also something. Every one of these Beatitudes, every virtue, every thing that is what we're reading is only accomplished by the Spirit. It has to be a work of the Spirit. None of us can be humble in our own right. We are all selfish, we're all prideful, we're all egotist. Like we are all human and flawed. None of us without the Holy Spirit can be any of these things that we're talking about, which literally goes with the first beatitude that says recognizing like blessed are the poor in spirit. To recognize your like spiritual deficiency that you can't do anything.

[Ari]

Yeah.

[Ang]

Next one is. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.

[Ari]

Yeah.

[Ang]

This is a deep soul level longing to be right with God, to see him move in the world, to see him transform people's lives, to hear from him, to see his face, like, to experience the presence of God. This is what it means to hunger and thirst for righteousness, to be like him, to be righteous the way that God is righteous.

[Ari]

Yeah. Living in a way that reflects God's will and his justice. Justice is what is right in the sight of God. Yeah. Just an act of seeking, a longing to be close to Him. A thirst for Him. That's why he says, I am the bread of life. If you come to me, you will never be thirsty again. That is what being hungry and thirsty means. It's without Jesus, without being filled by him, you will always thirst, you will always hunger.

[Ang]

So good. My favorite. One of my favorite scriptures that I say consistently is it's 2nd Corinthians 5. He who had no sin became sin. So that we could become the righteousness of God. Jesus gave us his righteousness. He was emptied, completely, nailed to a cross, died a criminal's death so that we could be clothed in his righteousness. So like we said earlier, that the Lord isn't looking at you with disappointment in his eyes. He's looking at you with pride. Because when he sees you, you. He literally doesn't see your sin. He sees the righteousness of God. He sees his own righteousness because you are clothed. Jesus, while we were naked and ashamed and exposed the way that Adam and Eve were in the garden, that would have been our life too, without Jesus. But he doesn't leave us naked, exposed, and ashamed. He literally clothes us in his righteousness. And we have armor and we wear his robe. His robe that fills the temple with glory. Like that is what we get in a relationship with Jesus. It's the most beautiful thing. Hung and thirst for righteousness. Waking up every day of your life and knowing that, like, yes, there's so many things we could be doing, there's so many ways we can go, there's so many people we can date and conversations we could have and money that we can make. But I choose to hunger and thirst for the righteousness of God. I choose to run after with my entire heart so fast, after Jesus's heart. That's what it means to hunger and thirst that your entire being that, like, you hear the Gospel of Jesus and it's not just a story that you listen to, but it's something that. It's in your body. Revelation talks about John, like, prophetically, metaphorically, eating the scroll. And that's like what we're called to do. To eat the scroll, to eat the gospel. It's supposed to live within us and just, like, break out into the world through our own bodies. Like, when we read Scripture, it shouldn't just be words on a page. You should read the Bible and you see yourself. You see your name through the. Through the sentences. Because you're like, jesus's story is my story. We have the same story. And so you allow Jesus to birth this love inside of you. You allow him to just birth this hunger inside of you and you truly hunger and thirst for everything that has to do with Jesus and everything else in the world becomes disgusting. You know what I mean? And you're like, I don't need this. I don't. And progressively you go on more and more and you're like, oh, I'm thirsting and hungering for him so much that I actually hate everything else. Like it's just the most beautiful work of the Spirit.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. This is a beautiful, beautiful one because if you want God to have mercy on you, you have to have mercy on other people. It talks about all throughout scripture that forgiveness is like one of the most important things we can do. Unforgiveness is the root of so many issues in our lives. If you have people that like, you're mad at or there are issues and you like hang on to things and hang on to grudges, I know from experience it wreaks havoc on your life. It absolutely wreaks havoc on your and forgiveness is one of the hardest things that you can do. Like, it's one of the hardest things. Like that truly is something you need the spirit to work on you with because as Jesus says, forgiveness, you can only be forgiven as much as you forgive other people. You can't just receive forgiveness and choose not to forgive others.

[Ari]

You cannot flourish in your life if you have grudges. I've held onto unforgiveness in my heart. I haven't given mercy to people, family members, and it's kept me in prison. And for as long as you keep holding grudges in your heart for as long as you'll be in prison. I think about Jesus when he was again, it goes back to Jesus. How much mercy has he given us? How many times have we probably disappointed Jesus with the way we act? And he's given us so much mercy. And so when I think about how much mercy he's given me, I think, well, why can I do that for somebody else?

[Ang]

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. We say this scripture all the time because it is the most. I mean, I don't think one is more important than the other, but I think Ari and I have both experienced this one the most in our mo. The most in our personal lives. We're like, truly purity of heart is. It's not just whenever we think about purity, I think everyone thinks, don't have to sex, sure, yes, of course. But that's not what purity is. Purity is your heart. It's single undivided affection and devotion to Jesus. It means that you're not double minded. It means that Jesus has everything. And a prayer that I pray every single day of my life is, lord, purify the eyes of My soul so that I can see Jesus. Because when the. Our soul has eyes, and when our. The eyes of our soul are pure, when they're clean, we get a vision of Jesus. And all throughout Scripture, it tells us the way to live with Jesus, to worship Jesus is to behold his beauty. You have to behold it. You have to see it. You cannot see the beauty of Jesus if your eyes are unclean, if they're foggy, if they're distracted. And when Jesus infiltrates your vision, the world around you starts to die. Like, it literally starts to die. We just talked about it a second ago. But everything begins to change. You see everything differently because your eyes are clean. Your soul has eyes, and they must be clean. And the last thing I'll say is, like, you have to fight for purity. You do. Michael Culiano said this in something that I watch. He was like, your house has to be holy. And, like, so there are things in your house that you should allow, and there are things in your life that shouldn't. That you shouldn't allow. And that's not extreme. That's not legalistic, that's not religious. It's actually. It's just wise. It's wise. And you're aware that, like, everything affects the way you see Jesus. And he should be our greatest vision. Like, he should be the most clear thing that we see. And there's so many things that just get in the way of our vision of Jesus. And, like, we can't worship him correctly. We can't commune with him correctly. We can't hear his voice when there's impurity. And so, again, it's a deep work of the Spirit, allowing this beatitude to manifest itself in you, to tell the Holy Spirit, like, I allow you to purify me, purify my soul, purify everything to give me a greater, more clear vision of Jesus.

[Ari]

We're all sinful. Our hearts are all wicked. And so it's understanding that we're so imperfect and being like, give me a clean heart. Help me. I have ego, pride. I'm. I'm just. I'm just so imperfect. But I want to be made right with you. Yeah. And that's daily. That's daily for me. That's it. That's. It's daily. It's like, oh, man. It's like, I just messed up again. Help me.

[Ang]

It's in clarity that you experience his nearness. Like, I think a lot of us feel so distant from God a lot of the time and a lot. And sometimes it's. It could be so many different things, but occasionally it could be if there's impurity, like, it will make God feel distant from you. It will feel like. And he's not distant, but it feels like it. Because there is something between you guys. You have allowed something to get in the way. And like Ari said, it's just a continual of like, oh, I recognize that you don't condemn yourself. You actually honestly don't even make it a big deal. It's not a big deal deal. Sometimes I've made things such a big deal. Like, Jesus, I'm so. I'm so distracted. I'm so this. And I'm striving and I'm trying. And he's like, if you would just relax, I could actually, like, do a work in you. But you trying so hard and exaggerating it is making it. I can't even get in there now. You know what I mean? Number seven. Blessed are the p. I wonder if it's blessed or blessed. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be crossing con. For they shall be called sons of God. I think it's so important here to recognize that a peacemaker is not the same thing as a peacekeeper. A peacemaker is somebody who. A peacekeeper is somebody who avoids conflict altogether. A peacekeeper is someone who is avoidant and doesn't address things. And so peacekeeping is not good because a peacemaker does address conflict. A peacemaker does have hard conversations. And like, they have to. To be a peacemaker, you have to be confrontational in a sense. But it's with the aim to bring reconciliation. Obviously, the Lord hates division. He hates fighting. He hates, you know, problems between people and division in families, division in churches, division at work. And us as believers are called to be peacemakers. We're called to bring reconciliation, to bring healing and to bring wholeness to friends, to families, to marri marriages.

[Ari]

We can't avoid conflict. It's gonna come. And many times that involves not having peace when there's conflict, but bringing the peace into. Bringing the peace into situations. Yeah, being peacemakers, that's a journey. But constantly bringing reconciliation, constantly pouring peace into a situation that doesn't look so peaceful. That's our aim, Right?

[Ang]

Right, right. And always being someone who doesn't add fuel to the fire. I think that's something I've realized a lot in having people come to me for advice and stuff. I've realized because I think all of us can deal with this sometimes. If you have people pleasing tendencies, that actually goes against being a peacemaker because you can. Maybe someone tells you something and you're like, oh, yeah, you're right and they're wrong. I've learned so well from men, mentors. To be a peacemaker means that you, like, hold both sides and you don't add fuel to the fire, but you, like, choose to speak in a way that brings reconciliation to even other people's problems. So you don't choose their side. You don't choose their side, but you speak into it in a way that brings them together, that helps both people understand the other person, you know, and.

[Ari]

Listening, listening, listening to what the other person has to say, not reacting right away, that brings a lot of peace into a situation as well.

[Ang]

Yeah, totally. And obviously Jesus is the ultimate peacemaker. He reconciled us back to God. We were once enemies with God, completely cut off, separated, sin entered the world. Everything was damaged for us with our relationship with God. And Jesus came to tear the veil and to build the bridge between us and God. Jesus is literally the stairway to heaven. How we get to the far Father, and then blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Yeah, I mean, we all know this. When you live for Jesus, you will be mocked, misunderstood, made fun of, even cut out of social circles sometimes. I had a conversation, I won't say when, but recently, where I tried having a conversation about purity. It was my first time having a worldly conversation in what, like, people, like, truly in the world who don't understand, like, dating God's word way. I was trying to have a conversation about purity. And I actually felt embarrassed for a second because it's so. It was so foreign. And I realized, like, oh, no wonder people compromise in situations because you feel the judgment off of people when they're like, you're not having sex. Like, it was just so crazy. So, not that I was persecuted, but, yeah, living with Jesus, if you love Jesus and you love the things of God, you will be persecuted. Persecuted, but you're blessed. That's what's so crazy. When I was going through something recently, I remember John said something to me and he was like, read this scripture. It's not just like Jesus saying, oh, you will be persecuted. It's not him saying, you'll be persecuted and it's okay. He says, you are blessed if you're persecuted for the gospel. Some people don't ever have the chance, the opportunity and the privilege to be persecuted for the gospel. So if you're somebody. If we're somebody who is persecuted for Jesus, we are blessed. Like we have to take these for what they are and not just gloss over them, because that's a massive deal. You are blessed if people make fun of you.

[Ari]

Yeah, I know. And a lot of us will be persecuted because of our past. And they'll say that we don't deserve to preach the gospel. And that's another persecution that both me and Angela both face a lot of the times. And. And there's many times where, you know, I want to persecute some people. I'm just kidding. No, but there's many times where it's really hard to bite your tongue. But just keep reiterating the scripture.

[Ang]

Michael Juliano said something that I love so much. He said, rejoice when you're persecuted, because somehow, some way, it makes you softer. Jesus allows you to be persecuted because without it, you will walk in your own strength. And God loves the version of us that has tears rolling down our cheeks and feels a little weaker in our own legs. Yeah, like, everything is on purpose. I know that might sound weird. He likes the weaker version of you because anything that we believe we can do in our own strength. The closer I get to Jesus, the more I realize I'm not smart, I'm not strong. I don't know what's going on. I don't know what's going on. And that's, like, literally what I experience, getting closer to him. And that's right where he wants us.

[Ari]

You know, look at all the disciples. They were like, persecute me. I'm. I'm fighting for Jesus.

[Ang]

So Jesus was persecuted first. He knows your pain, and he's with you in your eternal reward. You have an eternal reward when you're persecuted. And with all of the Beatitudes, we end this by saying, these are all formed in you by the grace of God, by the Spirit of. Of God. None of us are perfect. None of us can be all of these things at. I mean, we should, but that's our aim. But, like, it is a supernatural work from the Spirit to make us like Jesus through the Beatitudes, this might seem like an int. Like the Beatitudes, whatever. So religious. These are the words of Jesus. The Sermon on the Mount is one of the most important things. If you never read anything, which I don't suggest, if you never read anything in the Bible, you better read the Sermon on the Mount. The beat attitudes are everything, because it's his heart. Like, it's literally his heart on paper. So I'm just gonna pray this with us really quick. We're gonna pray these things. God, I pray that you would make me poor in spirit and that I would realize my need for you. God, I pray that I would mourn over my sin so that you can come and comfort me in it. God, I pray that you would instill and create in me a true heart of humility so that I can inherit the whole earth. God, would you make me so hungry and thirsty for you, for your righteousness, for your justice so that I can be satisfied? God, will you make me merciful so that I will be shown mercy? God, will you make my heart pure so that I will be able to see Jesus? God, I pray that you make me a peacemaker so that I will be called a child of God. God and God, I pray that you would allow me to be persecuted for the gospel because then the kingdom of heaven will be mine. Thank you, Jesus. Guys, we love you so much.
