This week on the Snack, Taylor Swift's text exposed skyscraper live and a penis enlarging scandal hits the Olympics.
Raina Greenberg
This is a Dear Media production.
Ashley Hess
Enjoy. Hello, Reina. Is boots on the ground. Reporting live from the snowstorm of 2026. Highly anticipated.
Raina Greenberg
Everyone's favorite snowstorm. The snowstorm. What is it called?
Ashley Hess
It was like.
Raina Greenberg
I think it's. I think it's. Though they named it.
Ashley Hess
I think. Oh, yes. I don't know the name yet. Does this have a name?
Raina Greenberg
It's been having a name. I think it was Fern.
Ashley Hess
It says Winter Storm Fern. By the weather Channel. That's what they named it. This is the first time hearing about Fern.
Raina Greenberg
I actually didn't know we named snowstorms. I thought that it was only reserved for rainstorms and hurricanes.
Ashley Hess
Hurricanes. Yeah, I mean, hurricanes.
Raina Greenberg
I thought, is there anything less intimidating than Fearne?
Ashley Hess
The names never really. I feel like, do the storms justice. But I remember the first time they coined bomb cyclone.
Raina Greenberg
Remember that one?
Ashley Hess
They usually do something like that when it comes to winter storms. Like, they just make it sound so apocalyptic. I remember bomb cyclone and just. I remember taking videos of the snow and, like, setting it to, like, she moves her body like a cyclone. Like, that was one of my favorite term. Like Snowpox, apocalypse, stuff like that. I prefer those. We don't need these names. Unless it's actually.
Raina Greenberg
Yeah, it doesn't make me feel that badass, to be honest. It's been a doozy, people. It's people's favorite topic.
Ashley Hess
Ashley.
Raina Greenberg
We'll put it up on the screen. Every store is sold out. You should see Trader Joe's. It looks like Covid all over again. I mean, there's not one thing on.
Ashley Hess
A single shop except for Dasani water.
Raina Greenberg
There's probably a lot of dust.
Ashley Hess
People send me photos. There's memes. But people send me photos from stores that has just Dasani in the whole store. That's all that's there. Everyone has taken all the other water, and it's just like pallets of Dasani.
Raina Greenberg
That's the free waters on airlines, too. That's like the number one free water they give away. They're like, nobody wanted this. We got it from the Trader Joe's after it got cleared out.
Ashley Hess
Okay. But you are safe.
Raina Greenberg
I'm safe. I'm great. I haven't left the house in two days. But that's just because that's my vibe.
Ashley Hess
Yeah.
Raina Greenberg
You love snow.
Ashley Hess
You love snowstorms.
Raina Greenberg
I know. I'm always trying to throw it back. You know, I had no no shows to watch. I was out of shows. So I have started Euphoria. Officially, I have five episod. I love it.
Ashley Hess
Big fan, by the way. Raina, I want to jump in and say that Steven from Tell Me Lies. Like, I've seen him in interviews now. He looks like a completely different person. He is an attractive guy. It is crazy how much they ugly him for that show. He looks so heinous on that show. And I feel like I can say this with my full chest because I'm not dragging someone's looks. I find him repulsive on the show. He makes my skin crawl. And I watched him on Drew Barrymore and he's like a totally good looking guy. And I sent it to you and I was like, I bet you prefer the Steven version, don't you? And you said yes. I'm like, I. Right. And I will never fight over a guy. I mean, I'm married now, but, like, we literally. Our taste could not be more different.
Raina Greenberg
It's. I actually don't care. Listen, I don't care for the haircut. It's too shaggy and, like, brushed forward.
Ashley Hess
You like that penis cut. You like the. He looks. He literally looks like a thumb with a little bit of hair on the top. Like, they ugly him up for that show so much. I can't believe. Right? I just, I can't believe you and I, like, we don't see. We don't see the world the same way.
Raina Greenberg
I mean, so him and Grace Van Patten did this Calvin Klein ad together this week, and it is so sexy. Like, the two of them together is so gorgeous. And even still, I was like, I miss the old hair. I miss the hair.
Ashley Hess
Hate it. Okay, so a lot of stuff has been canceled, like, throughout the city, but I feel like the thing I'm the saddest about is you were supposed to go to the heated rivalry lookalike contest in Washington Square park on the Sunday that snowstorm fern hit. But that's so sad you were going to be reporting on it. Like, I'm really upset about that.
Raina Greenberg
Well, you and I have been, like, talking about lookalike contests for years at this point. And I feel like they're never in L. A. They're always in Tompkins Square or Washington Square park in New York City once in a while in Chicago. But, like, I was so excited. Yeah, people send them to me. And I also, I missed the Dave Bautista slash the rock lookalike contest, so I missed the heated rivalry one. People did come out and, like, snowboard and ski and stuff in Central park. But no lookalike contest, so. So we'll have to catch them next time.
Ashley Hess
Okay. Well, it is 71 and sunny here in LA, but it like was a little cloudy yesterday so we had to wear like a light jacket when we were in Laguna Beach. But you know, we did survive it.
Raina Greenberg
And are you okay?
Ashley Hess
Barely. On that note, that was my first time in Laguna Beach. We went this past weekend and as such a die hard Laguna beach fan of the show. I mean, I felt starstruck. Right. I went to Laguna beach surf and sport where Steven used to work. It's still there. I passed by the high school. I went to the coffee shop they used to go to. It has a different name now. Plus we did all this really cute, fun stuff. It's probably one of my favorite places I've ever been in America. We had the best time. But just as like a fan of the franchise. It was so cool to be there because of that. I couldn't believe I'd been there sooner. So that's.
Raina Greenberg
Did you hear the song? Did you hear the Hillary Duff song in your head the whole time as you watched it?
Ashley Hess
Well, just wait. I'll be doing a whole carousel. Just wait for it.
Raina Greenberg
Oh, I set to that. Okay, great. You know, I love an Ashley carousel.
Ashley Hess
Because it's not people want to think unwritten, but unwritten is the hills. It's complete.
Raina Greenberg
I don't want to think that. Oh, ok.
Ashley Hess
I think some people just automatically think the rest is still unwritten and it's a different song.
Raina Greenberg
Do people? Do people.
Ashley Hess
I don't know it like we do.
Raina Greenberg
Okay, well, that's never crossed my mind. I walk around with that song in my head the whole time. And we weren't really going to cover this day, but Hilary Duff is on tour for the first time in 18 years. So if you guys want to go see her, she is on tour.
Ashley Hess
What a comeback. Good for her.
Raina Greenberg
Yeah.
Ashley Hess
Yeah.
Raina Greenberg
It's never over. You know, you can take 18 years off and make a comeback.
Ashley Hess
Yeah. And come clean. Okay, well, let's just thank our partner for today and we will get into it.
Raina Greenberg

Raina Greenberg

Ashley Hess
You're fine.
Raina Greenberg
I can't wait. Honestly, Ashley's never seen me do comedy. I can't stop laughing at it.
Ashley Hess
I mean, I saw you do comedy on my tour. But I am really excited to see all you guys this weekend. And you know, I wrote a few jokes too. I got a few books. I'm going to test out when I host these shows. But I'm glad you added those cities too. That'll be really fun.
Raina Greenberg
Yeah, it'll be great. So Radagreenberg.com, and then you guys can stop hearing me talk about it. If you just sell off the shows, then I'll leave you alone. Okay.
Ashley Hess
Stop harassing me. Okay, so we are going to kick this off with a climbing report. You know, we are not climbing enthusiasts, but a lot of climbing in the news. So Alex Honnold, who is the climber from the documentary Free Solo, who is probably the most famous free solo climber in the world in that he doesn't use any equipment, he just goes raw dog. And there's a documentary called Free Solo which I love. There is another documentary called the Dawn Wall. I'm obsessed with this in general. I don't care about climbing otherwise. But this, I just find it so fascinating and hard to comprehend. So I'm super into this. And he climbed one of the highest skyscrapers in the world in Taipei, Taiwan. The building is called Taipei 101. 1667ft, 508 meter summit. The building looked crazy. It had all these different structures on it that he had to navigate. There was like this point at the top. It was a crazy fucking building. It wasn't just like your standard skyscraper, by the way. And he climbed this in like 90 minutes. And it was streamed live on Netflix. It was a Netflix event.
Raina Greenberg
And okay, so I had two thoughts while I was watching this. First of all, so okay, he's not on, like you said, there's no equipment. He's like not on belay any type of rope. So if he falls, he dies. So we're live streaming somebody potentially dying. So I had two thoughts. First was, I cannot believe I'm watching like this. Like this is the most stress I've felt watching any Sporting event in my life. Cause, like, somebody could actually die. And second thought I thought was, that doesn't look that hard. What I was like, if this was tall enough for me, if this was the appropriate height for me, I could do this.
Ashley Hess
Raina, you couldn't climb one first. You couldn't get up that very first ledge. Don't even fool yourself. I thought it looked crazy. It's hard for me to watch. So I was watching with Shashank. His palms were wet. They were sweaty. If you look in the comments on Netflix, like, Harry Jowsey was in those. Like, everybody was like, my palms are sweaty. I'm sweating. Like, I don't feel. My stomach turns. Literally when I see the images of him on this building, I feel like, sick. I feel like anxiety. I feel like I'm gonna throw up. I don't really consider myself to have a fear of heights, but it is crazy to watch. It was windy. He's just up there listening to his heavy metal.
Raina Greenberg
I have a question. I actually didn't really think about this because, like, yes, obviously you're stressed out, so your hands are sweaty. How does that guy. Do you think he takes pills? Like, anti sweat pills? Your hands have to be like a certain climate temperature. Well, did you watch it?
Ashley Hess
He has his thing is the only thing he has on him is his pouch with all of his chalk. He chalks up the whole thing.
Raina Greenberg
Sorry, Ashley, I'm not a climbing expert like you are.
Ashley Hess
He has one thing on his person and it says pouch. With his chalk, he chalks the whole way up. You can't miss it. You didn't watch this. You did not watch this. Yes, I did.
Raina Greenberg
Now I know you didn't watch it.
Ashley Hess
Yes, I did. Do not try to appropriate my culture. No.
Raina Greenberg
Okay, maybe with men's stuff, I only have. Pay attention, dude. Separately, the main thing is that.
Ashley Hess
And he was getting hot. And that's the first thing is why. Said to him when he met her at the. Almost at the summit, they couldn't be on the top together. He had to use the ladder to get to the very top. Whatever, if you guys watch, you know. But he met her up there, and she was like, were you hot? I was thinking, because then the building gets hot, okay? So I just have so much to say. Like, he's so incredible. He's such an inspiration. I just can't. It's so outside of my realm of anything I would ever do in my life. So I just love to see it. And it's this insane thing to televise live truly something where you could just die. Like he's good enough that they would never send someone up there that. That couldn't do it right. Like he knew he was going to be able to do it. But still, one slip, one thing goes wrong and you fall to your death. So many of these guys have fallen to their death. So to televise that for. Do you know how much he got paid? This is my rabbit hole of the day. He.
Raina Greenberg
Oh, my God. What?
Ashley Hess
Raina, he got paid under a million dollars. Mid century, six figures, they're saying. So, like people are paying him Netflix. I'm saying what he got paid from Netflix for. People are saying 500,000. People are saying 300,000. He won't say. He's like embarrassed to say to televise this event, a live event on Netflix, is such a huge deal to pay him. I mean, again, this is like whoever's negotiating on his behalf, but this should have been millions upon millions of dollars. So I just want to read the quote from him. People are asking how much you got paid? He said, I'm not going to say. It's an embarrassing amount. He told the New York Times. Actually, if you put it in the context of mainstream sports, it's an embarrassingly small amount. You know, Major League baseball players get like $170 million contracts. He says, like someone you haven't even heard of or that no one cares about. Like literally no name athletes. And again, he's not doing a whole season. He did this for 90 minutes. But he had to train. How much did he. To train for this and for. Yeah, I just feel like he should have been paid more.
Raina Greenberg
Absolutely.
Ashley Hess
Okay, so I'm watching it and I am really disliking the commentators. So there was three. There was Elle Duncan, who's like a lifelong sports anchor. She was fine. And then there was a professional rock climber named Emily Harrington. And then the third commentator on the ground fucking in his ear, commentating this whole event was this WWE wrestler who was the worst. Like, it felt like an insult to have a WWE wrestler even do this. Like, I know as a, as a sport, if you want to call it a sport, I know it takes strength, endurance, all the things. It's not a real sport to me. It's entertainment that's in the name. Like, you didn't need a third person at all. But to have someone. He had the coldest takes. He had like a weird vibe I didn't like. It was hard for me to almost watch. And I just felt like it was such an insult to have this WWE wrestler be the person that gets to commentate and be in Alex's ear this whole time.
Raina Greenberg
Okay? It's not the same vibe. It's a total vibe shift to have, like, this wrestler commentating on somebody climbing a building. It's like when they brought the UFC out at the Golden Globes.
Ashley Hess
Literally, that's how.
Raina Greenberg
What are we doing?
Ashley Hess
The. Literally, what are we. What energy?
Raina Greenberg
Why are we trying to make this happen? Like, why are we trying to make this happen at all?
Ashley Hess
I can't understand how he got that gig. But anyway, so I start looking up, what do people think about the commentators and people fudgeing. Hated them. And because it was live, people are bombing Netflix's comments in real time. Take them. Take their mics away. Get these commentators off the air. They shouldn't. We just want to hear him talk. I do think there should have been commentators, because if not, it would have been pretty silent at a lot of points. But I had the most problem with this WWE wrestler who truly contributed nothing. And I don't like.
Raina Greenberg
There's also an art to talking while people are also trying to do other stuff and listen to other stuff. So, like, you think about all the time when you take, like, a workout class and you're like, I am trying to listen to the music, but I want somebody to motivate me so. So I can enjoy this. So, like, there is. There's certain instructors I won't take because they just talk too much.
Ashley Hess
I mean, there is.
Raina Greenberg
There's a real art to this, and if you don't know how to do it, then it is just distracting.
Ashley Hess
But, like, you want to hear the professional rock climber talk about what we're watching, Offer insights. But I just. Anyway, I'm so. I'm so happy. I love him and his wife. You know, they're so cute. And this was just such an inspirational feat. And I, you know, that's really, like, all I have to say about that part of it is like, he's just. He's incredible.
Raina Greenberg
Wait, so I have to ask you a question. So I read that also that this was in his ear as well as he was climbing. Was the commentators. Is this true?
Ashley Hess
Yeah, they can talk back and forth to him, but I don't know if he could turn them on and off because he also put his music on. He likes to listen to tool. He likes a little, like, heavier rock. And then he lost music and he lost calm at one point. But, yes, they are talking to him, and there's A couple of points where he's talking and they cut him off. They don't. I think it's hard to communicate, by the way. Like, let's talk about. He's on the top of the building, they're on the ground, and, you know, wires are getting crossed. But, yeah, like, that's what I'm saying. Like, I was telling Shashank. I was like, I. If I were Alex, I would have been like, I need to approve the commentators who are going to be in my fucking ear while I do this. Like, I'm wondering if he got a say, because I don't think he chose Seth Rollins from the wwe.
Raina Greenberg
No, I would pick my two meanest friends, and I would have them talk shit back and forth and then, like, sometimes some music. But, like, I just want to laugh at my funny friends. Talk shit on stuff. Like, that's what would keep me going. Like, that's what energizes me in the morning.
Ashley Hess
Well, I know, like, if I get to pick, I'm like Beyonce. Like, if we have her just talk to me, I don't know if I'm gonna have her music in my ears.
Raina Greenberg
All right, well, moving on to another climber of our time, Sydney Sweeney. So Sydney Sweeney climbed the Hollywood sign in the middle of the night to promote her new bra company. I mean, these videos are so embarrassing. So let me give you a little background. Sydney Sweeney has a new, I guess, lingerie line. It is being financed by Jeff Bezos, allegedly. And she had no permission granted to do this, but that's.
Ashley Hess
Which is.
Raina Greenberg
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said. But she, in the middle of the night, climbed the Hollywood sign with a couple of people and these large garland strings of bras to just, like, string them along the Hollywood sign. I don't really understand. It's also. It looks so sloppy, like, they have her doing it. And I kept thinking, like, if this was somebody else that I, like, really rooted for, would I be like, yes, bitch, go off. But, like, if you guys watch the video, it's actually really embarrassing to think that, like, she had Jeff Bezos type money and she is climbing the Hollywood sign in the middle of the night with no permit, trying to throw her bras over it. I mean, this could have been a funny thing, I guess, but it's so sloppily done. It looks so weird. There's a million ways to have done this and made it look cool. She chose none of them.
Ashley Hess
It's such weirdo energy. Like, I know it's not graffiti, but it still feels like, vandalizing a landmark, you know, without permission. Like, it's giving. Like, she litters. You know what I mean? Like, her energy is like someone who thinks it's funny to up and have other people deal with the consequences. Like, does someone have to go get the bras now? Like, does, like, a park ranger or someone have to go clean up this mess? I don't know, I could be wrong. But, like, it's just, like, weird energy. You know what I'm saying? It's like someone that, like, throws something on the ground and it's like, that's funny. That's not my problem. That's her whole energy, I think is just like. Like, doesn't give a fuck in, like, a bad way. And I am obviously not a fan. And I'm all for, like, a stunt, but it's just like, is it. Are she trying to be a badass, breaking the law? Is that the vibe? But, like, what are we doing here? Like, I just am not a fan of anything. Like, the Jeff Bezos backing of it all. I'm just like, while we're here, it's sexy season coming up, lingerie season. Like, if y' all are looking for a celeb lingerie line to buy, do Rihanna Savage Fenty, better quality, better looking Rihanna lingerie all day. If you are trying to choose. Okay, so let's move on to such a hot topic. And this is the text between Blake Lively and Taylor Swift. But they're not leaked, right? They're released in a lawsuit.
Raina Greenberg
I'm gonna break. I'm gonna break the whole lawsuit down for you. What happened? But, you know, last week we saw an avalanche of correspondence between Blake, not only Taylor Swift, but Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and Ryan Reynolds messages. And we saw Jenny Slate's messages, and it was an onslaught of stuff you could never imagine seeing in your entire life. I mean, the private correspondence of Taylor Swift, Ben Affleck, the most powerful people in the world. You never think you'd have a window into something so crazy.
Ashley Hess
It feels invasive. We should not be seeing these. I mean, I'm a look, but I know.
Raina Greenberg
So you and I were like, we're going to get into the. What should we do first? The contents of the text messages or how this is able to be released.
Ashley Hess
I mean, there's just so much. Like, if you care, you probably looked at what you want to see. But Blake Lively and Taylor Swift are kind of talking shit about Justin Maldoni, and they are conspiring to kind of manipulate a situation. It Sounds like Blake wants to rewrite something. Whatever. She brings Taylor in to kind of have her back, and they're talking shit about him. And it's so funny because people, like, latched onto a few things that Taylor said about Justin Baldoni, and I did a whole reel on this. You guys can go watch it. Like, she called him a bitch. She said he's gonna bring out his tiny violin. I'm like, if you think that's bad, you've never read women's text messages, especially when conspiring against a man. Like, maybe you don't even have a best friend. Because this is how. This is tame. This is vanilla.
Raina Greenberg
This is the kind of stuff that I say when I don't even hate a person that much. Honestly. Like, I mean, you have to assume Taylor Swift had been listening to Blake Lively complain about her work environment for months, if not a whole year at this point. And that's the worst she could come up with. If you told me every day for months that your work environment was terrible, I would be saying some unbelievably horrible.
Ashley Hess
Stuff to support you. This is what best friends do. If my best friend hates him, I hate him. What are we doing here? It's girlhood.
Raina Greenberg
I hate him more if you hate him. Honestly?
Ashley Hess
Yeah, 100%. Yeah. Like, it would you. Your best friend gets you fired up about somebody. They have to talk you down. Then, like. Then it's just like, okay, let's just, like, take a step back. It's like, you got me all gassed up. Okay.
Raina Greenberg
How many times have I said to you, like, I might be more mad about this than you are?
Ashley Hess
Yes, 100%. I'm like, great. I take it down a notch. Okay. Can you kind of tell me about the Ben Affleck and Matt Damon stuff?
Raina Greenberg
So she emailed them. The one that I read in full was the message between Blake Lively and Ben Affleck. She reaches out to him and basically says, can you look at my cut of the film? And this has been a fucking nightmare. There could be a documentary written about me filming this film. He's such a nightmare. You know, I don't expect you to do anything, but I'd like you to watch my cut of the film. The whole drama seems to have stemmed from the fact that, like, Baldoni has his own cut of the film, and Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have their cut of the film. And in their cut, also, Taylor Swift's song is included in that. And so they're kind of fighting over, like, whose cut is gonna be You.
Ashley Hess
And she has these people that are really powerful and is, like, kind of basically using them against Justin Baldoni. I'm not saying that's right. I mean, it's all. It's such a mess. Like, clearly, I think none of us would like if we poured our heart and soul into something. Obviously, he's the one that optioned this movie in the first place. And then you have an actress come in who has all these connections and all this power and tries to take control. If that's what happened, of course no one would like that. And of course she is the villain. Like, if that's what all went down, I don't know. It has gotten so messy at this point. I, like, forget parts of it. I forget whose side I'm on, who I was on. And I changed, and, like, now I'm just. It's pure entertainment at this point.
Raina Greenberg
You know, it's so interesting when people are like, whose side are you on? And I sort of feel similar in the Beckham situation, where I'm like, I don't know these people. So it's actually hard to be on a side. It sounds like everybody has been kind of being an asshole to everybody. And I don't know these people personally.
Ashley Hess
Yeah. And these are, like, rich. This is, again, above my pay grade. These type of people. These rich, famous people. So they. Did Ben Affleck and Matt Damon do anything I should know this.
Raina Greenberg
All I saw was email. Outgoing emails.
Ashley Hess
Outgoing. Okay, so these are out. And you and I have just been discussing how this can happen and how it is our biggest fear unlocked. Like I think anyone is this is your most private thoughts. I mean, to have your text messages be leaked. I mean, if I was in a lawsuit and they said, we're gonna release your text, I would say drop the lawsuit and that. And I would even say that openly. If they were like, hey, Ashley, why'd you drop the lawsuit? Cause they said they were gonna lose my text, and then everybody would understand.
Raina Greenberg
Absolutely. And so I have a whole legal breakdown for you guys, which I'm gonna try to make really fun. It was so fun to research it. And it is a lot easier than you would ever expect for your text messages and your emails to all be released.
Ashley Hess
And it actually.
Raina Greenberg
And it has. And you can't stop it. So here's what happens. So Blake Lively files a lawsuit, Right. And then that immediately opens up a discovery phase. So what happens is Justin Baldoni's lawyers are allowed to request anything they want. Text messages, emails, communication. And her team must produce it and they have to collect that stuff and produce it for them. If she refuses, they can compel her to. They can sanction her to. They can draw negative inferences for her refusing. But could she have stopped this before filing? Yes, before filing. But once she has filed, you can't opt out of the discovery phase. So all of your communication is fair game. And a lawyer will tell you, minute one, once you file this lawsuit, all of your communication is fair game. So she's basically.
Ashley Hess
But what do you mean? All of your communication like this is also Taylor Swift's privacy.
Raina Greenberg
I will explain that further. Deal. Okay, so how hard is it to subpoena people's tax. Once the lawsuit exists, it's really hard to block it. Okay. It's routine. It's expected. It's very hard to fight successfully. So you might be saying, why are these public? There are three reasons why private text messages might become public. They're filed as court exhibits, they're quoted in motions, and they're leaked by pr. So basically, now that Justin Baldoni's lawyers have those messages, people can leak them. So what about people's privacy? Why should Taylor Swift be pulled into this? How is this fair to her? Okay, if Blake livelihood's text messages mention Taylor Swift or include her text, they relate to motive, credibility, timeline, state of mind. Taylor Swift becomes a third party witness even if she did nothing wrong. And courts do not protect third parties just because they are famous or might be embarrassing to them. Yeah, they can. They can seal this information, but it is very hard to seal information. You would seal information if somebody was. Is grossly abused, if somebody is a minor. But basically, Taylor Swift, she can request redactions, she can argue for a protective order, and she can ask to keep her name out of public filings, but she cannot stop her name from appearing in someone else's text messages. And those text messages had to be produced by Blake Lively because she filed this suit.
Ashley Hess
Yeah. Release the Epstein files is the bottom line. What I'm hearing is really, we should have the Epstein files. Every single word of them. No. Okay, so I guess I can.
Raina Greenberg
So you can't stop people from being dragged through the mud like Taylor Swift could be like, how did I get dragged into it? You're a third party witness now. You were involved in these text messages in this lawsuit. And nobody owes you legal privacy just because you are famous. And it's gonna embarrass you. That's what the law says.
Ashley Hess
It just doesn't feel crazy. But, I mean, it's on there. So I guess it falls on Blake Lively, like, she shouldn't have done this or she shouldn't have gone down this road, or her being anyone who goes down this road. Right. Like, if you decide to file this, your lawyers are going to tell you, they're going to come for your texts, they're going to come for your emails. You have to produce all this stuff and you would just have to say, okay, like, if that is what caused a rift between her and Taylor Swift, I get it.
Raina Greenberg
And they can subpoena anybody. So you and I know an agent that was subpoenaed also. So they can subpoena your agent, your producers, they can produce. They can subpoena anybody that was on the set to anybody around them because it's substantial evidence essentially to support one side. So if you ever texted with Blake Lively about any of this, you could be dragged into this.
Ashley Hess
But that just doesn't feel fair. It feels like we should have there be something about privacy. Like I should be able to text and communicate with whoever I want, knowing that, like, it won't get out there because someone wants to have a lawsuit.
Raina Greenberg
So the only people I think that are protected is what, Spousal protection. Right. So communication between spouses. But like, if I said to you, I did this thing, it's really bad. You could be like, don't tell me, I don't want to be an accessory to this crime or whatever. So essentially, like Taylor Swift is a third party accessory to this crime. It feels super unfair. And honestly, like, it's. Everything I read says that. Like, your lawyers will say this to you. Minute one, if you file this, your whole life will become public.
Ashley Hess
Okay. Right. And then I'd be like, I'm not doing that. It's just.
Raina Greenberg
There's no. But it's.
Ashley Hess
It's crazy. You're rich enough like you. Why did.
Raina Greenberg
Who started this?
Ashley Hess
Did she start this? I can't remember. Like, I remember two years ago.
Raina Greenberg
So my understanding was that the lawsuit started because she was filing like a hostile work environment claim.
Ashley Hess
Yeah, that's what.
Raina Greenberg
And then he countersued. And then she also countersued, basically claiming that what he has done has harmed her reputation to the point that she has lost all future income. So she sued him for like $140 million in lost income. I think it would feel a little different to people if she was suing him for a dollar for a hostile work environment. That on principle. I'm going to make a statement about what men do to women in the workplace.
Ashley Hess
Yeah. I feel Like, I just. God, I've forgotten some of this because it was just, like, we saw things that happened during the press tour, and then she came out and said all this stuff, and then everybody was like, oh, my God, he's like a phony and a monster. Yeah. Like, he's the villain here. And then it all changed. But then you write about, remember, his smear campaign, all that stuff I'm, like, forgetting. And then it came out that she kind of seemed like she was lying about stuff. I mean, this has just been a wild ride, and I'm not trying to get off the ride.
Raina Greenberg
I mean, we've said this since the beginning. They both sound like they're being pretty awful.
Ashley Hess
Yeah.
Raina Greenberg
It's hard to say who originated it and who was worse. I mean, Jenny Slate, in those messages, who plays his sister in the film, also said he was unbelievably terrible on the set. The claims from her also back up that he was so terrible. It's just so much he said, she said, I can't get enough of it. I mean, never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be able to read Taylor Swift's text messages with Blake Lively. I mean, it's some of the most powerful people alive.
Ashley Hess
Yeah. There's some stuff that you're reading. You're like, God, this doesn't feel relevant or pertinent to the lawsuit, but I guess it kind of is. It just really feels invasive.
Raina Greenberg
It's sort of like a character assessment at that point. Like, you're saying, like, this is who she is as a person, and that's why it's relevant. I guess.
Ashley Hess
Yeah. Again, this isn't about how you feel about these people. I mean, it's. Obviously, we all have bias in some way about how we feel about this case, but I do like seeing a lot of the commentary on. Like, these texts aren't even bad. Like, you should see my texts with my friends. Like, I do feel like there's a lot of rational people being like, what did you expect about these two women talking about this man that they were trying to take down? Whether you agree with them doing that or not, But I guess that's what the texts are trying to prove. Okay, so let's just take a quick break and talk about Quince, and then we will get back into it.
Raina Greenberg
Okay. If you are starting the year with a wardrobe refresh, Quince has you guys covered. I am literally crazy about Quince. There are very few days I'm not wearing something from Quince. So they have all these like, like luxe essentials that feel really effortless and polished. And you can like layer and mix and build a whole wardrobe. But the price blows me away. I cannot believe what you get for the cost of these items. And I've had these Mongolian cashmere sweaters from Quince for literally years. They've been partners of ours. I have turtlenecks, I have cardigans. The quality is unbelievable. They're so soft. They have so many different colors. I have bought luggage. I have this neoprene duffel from them. They also do these great shoes and bags. They have sheets. I mean, really, anything you want to make your wardrobe more elevated and your home cozier this winter. The quality shows in every detail. So the stitching, the fabrics, the fit, every piece is thoughtfully designed. I have these Bella jeans. It's one of the most clicked links I have of anything I've put on my Instagram story. And every piece is made with premium materials, so you guys will really love it. I cannot tell you to how, how much I am loving all the stuff I get from there. My cashmere sweaters, my Bella jeans, the bags, everything. So you can refresh your wardrobe with Quint. Don't wait. Go to Quince.com GGE for free shipping on your order and 365 day returns. Now available in Canada too. That's Q U I n c e.com GGE to get free shipping and 365 day returns. Quince.com GGE okay, what do we have next? A crotch enlarging scandal has hit the Winter Olympics.
Ashley Hess
The Winter Olympics haven't even started. And we have Big Dick Pole Vaulter the sequel, if you guys remember, from the Olympics in 2024, the big dick pole vaulter, where his like dick got caught. And we like talked about this at length, but this is different. This is. This actually isn't as spicy as it sounds. But Raina, you can tell us about it.
Raina Greenberg
So, so basically the Norway's suit technicians. So the people that build the suits for the country's star ski jumpers were caught on video adding stitching to the suits. So basically adding, adding more surface area to the crotch area. So why would anybody add stitching to the crotch area? To win. So a larger suit means the jumper can fly farther through the air. Like how a bigger sail would make a boat sail fast.
Ashley Hess
It's for performance. It's like a, it's like a, like deflating footballs. Like a cheating type of thing is what it is. It's not for it aesthetics because I'm like, why wouldn't you want to look like you have a big dick? I mean, the big dick pole vaulter got so much attention, but I guess it's, it's, it's like a cheating thing.
Raina Greenberg
So there's rules that state an athlete suit cannot be more than 4 cm larger than the surface area of their body. So, I mean, you do stand to win if you have a bigger dick.
Ashley Hess
And then there's these rumors around it that some of the athletes were injecting their dicks with hyaluronic acid. Like there's. I think it's. Is that a rumor? Right? They weren't actually making their dicks bigger. You wouldn't do that. You're an athlete. You're. You're taking care of your body more than the average person.
Raina Greenberg
Well, so it says as little as 1 extra centimeter can add 5 meters of length to a jump. And apparently it's not that uncommon. So according to this German tabloid, some skiers even go as far as to use hyaluronic acid filled sleeves to manipulate the size of their crotch. They're slipping it, Slipping a sleeve in.
Ashley Hess
Okay, sorry, I was just like, this seems a little extra extreme to win the Olympics though.
Raina Greenberg
Get a little fill in.
Ashley Hess
No, I thought they were putting like injecting their dicks like your ass.
Raina Greenberg
No, but I'm saying you got a penis enlargement. Ashley, I want people to come to the tour.
Ashley Hess
Oh, sorry. I'll look at that. Just. No, it's okay. You can leave it.
Raina Greenberg
You know what, you guys just come to the tour. I'm going to talk about it, so. Well, I didn't know if it was.
Ashley Hess
On the set list because I've never.
Raina Greenberg
Seen your comedy out of town closing the hour. Actually, it's my closer penis enlargement.
Ashley Hess
Okay, so this one hits close to home. Okay, well, to wrap it up, the Winter Olympics are starting soon and we will report back. We have the heated rivalry guys as the torchbearers. Right. And I just there. If it's anything like the last Olympics we reported on, we did a whole episode, remember, two years ago. So let's hope we get some drama out of these.
Raina Greenberg
We are gonna close with a. Just a bit of a more serious message following the murder in Minneapolis by Ice this past weekend. Obviously, this is constantly on mine and Ashley's minds and what is happening in this country. And so we know this is a fun show, but we want to also acknowledge it because we've been deeply heartbroken by what's going on There. And Ashley and I say this all the time. We performed there so much. It is just the kindest, most wonderful people in the country. And our heart breaks for the city of Minneapolis and what they're going through.
Ashley Hess
Yeah. I mean, again, this is something I could talk about for literal hours. This is all I'm talking about with my friends and family. And I post a lot on social media. And so if you guys want to see more from us, we do post on our personal Instagrams. That's all I do. That's all I've been doing for weeks and for years, for 10 years. I mean, Rayna and I have been talking about this stuff for literally since the podcast started and when families were being ripped away at the border under the Trump administration. So this is just something that's always been a cause that we have stood for. And you guys know how we feel about the administration and what, what is happening in this country. And I cannot believe what we're seeing happening in Minnesota and why they're being targeted. It's so disgusting. They're targeting Maine, like all these places that never ask for this. It's just purely politically motivated against who Trump considers to be his enemies. I could go on and on and on, but yes, someone else has been murdered. Renee Goode was just a few weeks ago and this man, Alex Preddy, you guys have seen this by now. The same 37 year old ICU nurse who worked with veterans and who seemed like a really wonderful person and was defending a woman who had been pushed down by an ICE agent and was filming as we need to do to hold these people accountable. And he did have a weapon on him. It was concealed. They had already disarmed him. And then they shot him to his death 10 times. I mean, it's just so sick. And I think we all, for the most part, we all feel this way. And we unfortunately are watching murder on our phones, but fortunately, we have proof of what's being done. And then the government is still lying about what happened, even though the video proof is there.
Raina Greenberg
You know, it's horrible to watch this on your phone and then watch people justify this violence. And it's people that you are sworn to protect that you are gunning down. It's these people that have to be afraid of people with guns in their cities. And these are things that are caught on video. And you would think it would be impossible to spin this, but it is being spun by the administration and we will continue to speak out about this as long as we can. But you Know, it's hard to sort of watch this and go on with your day like this was happening. I want to just, like, validate, like. Like, it's hard to digest that this is what's happening on your phone, and then be like, I have to make dinner for my children. I have to go to work. I mean, I was watching this on my phone. I had to get on stage at the stand and tell jokes. I mean, it's hard to live in these two realities where you're like, I want to compartmentalize this for a second, but this is next door to me. This is no longer, like, so far away I can turn a blind eye. And that's at least the good thing, I think, that has happened through this. Through these terrible things that keep happening one by one. And you're like, I can't even recover from. The last thing is that we are finally seeing people from both sides speak out. And it has been a real explosion of that, especially on Saturday night and into Sunday this week, that I saw people that hadn't spoken out in a long time. And I tried to sort of stop my anger because I sat there and thought, a lot of y' all that were pretty loud about Charlie Kirk are pretty quiet about what's happening here. And one by one, I did start to see more people say stuff. And I don't wanna villainize anybody for changing their mind. And that one meme got really a lot of traction. It was green, and it said, it's okay to change your mind. And it's okay to say, like, I made a mistake, or I thought I voted for something, and this is not what I'm getting. And it's like, never too late. And I wanna not villainize people now that voted for that. I wanna be proud of people for finally seeing what's in front of their faces at this point.
Ashley Hess
The government, they don't believe this either. They know they're lying to you. They know some of these people will still believe that. They're watching the videos, too. You're watching these people fumble and bumble on Fox News. Even Fox News is kind of trying to be like, hey, this isn't what happened, and how do you justify this? And so to people who can still defend this now in this moment, who can double down on having no empathy, no critical thinking, who could triple down in their hypocrisy, I'm done speaking to them on my platforms. I want to speak to the people that want change. I say that, and I don't think I can change Their minds. It's not going to be me at this point. If you can still defend this, you're too far gone. And so to the people who still want to save our democracy, who care about others, who are appalled by everything, everything going on, like, I just want to remind all of you that we have power. We really do. And the people of Minnesota have demonstrated this in such an inspirational way. They went on strike, they took over the streets of the whole city in below freezing temperatures. They have stopped at nothing to help and protect their neighbors. They have said, no, we are not putting up with this. And there has been a shift. It works like we just have to band together and you know, we will continue to post resources. I think Emily in your phone is a great resource for how to get in touch with your senators and how to just be relentless with them. They work for us. Like, we pay their salaries, like, just harass them, you know, like legally, like, but non stop. And we have power in our spending. I mean, you saw what happened when people canceled their abc, Hulu, Disney plus because of Jimmy Kim. I mean, like, I just want to plant the seed now that like, that is what it's going to take. It is going to take some of these strikes and spending. Like, think about now where you spend your money. Like, I was watching Scott Galloway talk about this. Like, I just want to plant the seed now. Like, this is what it's going to take. I mean, this is the only way. Everything is about money and power and we have money and power. Like everything corrupt that happens in the world, follow the money. I mean, it's just all that's, all these people care about is just, just money, power. It's all greed and it's really just become this oligarchy and the way we can fight back is with our spending. And so I don't really have the answers right now, but I just want to kind of get people thinking in that way and like, remember that we do have power and your voice matters. It doesn't. You don't have a big platform, you don't have to be an influencer, but like speak out, show other people that it's okay to speak out and that you're on the right side of history and the people that aren't and they're just going about their day and they're posting business as usual and truly have made that choice. It is a choice we see you and I won't forget.
Raina Greenberg
You know, I was really blown away by the amount of people that spoke up this time. And every Voice, like, really does matter to me. And I think every day, like, what can I possibly contribute to this conversation? That is not anger. That is not sadness. You know, what am I really bringing to the table? But I saw this quote. It said, culturally influential people shape our permission structures. So if you're a food influencer, a fashion influencer, if you're a car influencer, if you have the smallest platform, 3,000 people like, you, putting it on the Internet and just saying, I don't stand for it gives other people permission to say, hey, I saw this other opinion online. This is a thought I also share. It empowers people with no platform to turn to their parents and say, I don't agree with this stuff. And it just gives other people the tools. I mean, we joke about it all the time. Like, when we say, like, if you want to bring, like, a toy or something, a sex toy, into the bedroom, you say, like, I saw this thing on this podcast, and, like, that's a good way to open up conversations with other people is I just. I saw this thing that this influencer posted. And so even if you have 3,000 followers and you feel like that doesn't matter, like, it matters. And the amount of messages that, like, Ashley and I get when we post this stuff, just saying, thank you for sharing this, thank you for, like, actually talking about what's going on, it just. It means so much. I cry reading them. Ashley posts way more than I do. I'm sure she gets way more messages.
Ashley Hess
Than that every day. It's an onslaught every day of, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. It matters. And I'm not saying that to gas myself up, but it matters. And, like, the people that are, like, you've just helped me feel, like, not crazy. Like, I look to you guys and I admire you, and it just. It means the world. So thank you guys for those messages. And, yes, to Raina's point, like, we've also had people say, like, you helped me to speak up. Like, even people who are influencers, you know, like, I've seen what you guys have done and inspired me and encouraged me to do the same and find the words, and then that's just a ripple effect, too. And I just. But, like, it can't just be posted on social media. There has to be other action as well. So find out what that. That action is with. You want to get in touch with your senators. You want to join a protest. You want to boycott these companies? We have power in other ways, and we'll continue to Speak about that. And I just want to say Alex Preddy was not the first person ISIS killed. He was literally the 10th. And that's not even talking about all the people that are unaccounted for in these detention centers. The five year old little boy that got sent to a detention center, the two year old girl. These kids are screaming outside. They're like inside this detention center in Texas, like you can hear their screams. Like a dozen people have died by the hands of ice. We know about the white citizens the most with names that are easier to pronounce. These are the ones that make the news. These are also ones that have probably been filmed more for various reasons. But it's not, he's not the first. Neither was Renee. Good. And they won't be the last. And so I just want to remember him, remember all these people. And my like heart is with their families and their friends. And this was so just like heart shattering. And especially when you think about someone that just wanted to do right in the world and lost his life to our government while he was trying to protect someone else.
Raina Greenberg
Well, thank you to everybody who uses their voice to do this and has gone to a protest, has supported a small business, has. I feel so, like emotional about this, but this is on our minds constantly. So until we are really forced to, we will always speak up for those who can't speak up and speak out about this. And for anybody who just posted anything on Instagram or talked to a family member or anybody, thank you. Very emotional.
Ashley Hess
No, I mean it's. I can't, like I, you know, I just want to remind you guys that it is so not normal to see someone get killed on your device and go about your day. I. We were at lunch and we. At this weekend, we had to leave. I just started crying. I couldn't stop. Like it will just come out of nowhere. I can't, like some of these people. I can't, like, I can't see the picture of that little boy. I can't see the picture of Alex Preddy. I lose it. And we'll keep this in just because I think, you know, it's relatable. But if you feel like you can't fucking keep it together sometimes, take care of yourself. Get off your device. We can't just be in this constant scroll hole. Even though sometimes it can feel good because you see people that are aligned with you, but it will exhaust you and then we cannot be effective. So take care of yourself and we will continue to give resources when we can.
Raina Greenberg
Yeah, so like Ashley said, Emily in your phone is fantastic. We love Jessica Yellen. Both of them are great resources. Indivisible team.
Ashley Hess
Indivisible is great guys. They're like those are my three. I feel like Jessica Yellen for your news. Emily on your phone for a lot of like calling your senators and then indivisible for a lot of the other stuff.
Raina Greenberg
Oh, we love you guys. And different, different tone to end this one. But thank you for listening and sticking through it.
Ashley Hess
