I brought my little. Can I show it like that? Okay, so I brought my little thing of what? As I was doing my makeup, I was putting it in here. I remember last time I was here a few years ago, my what's on my face was, like, 20 minutes long. But I'm going to make it fast. But I'm just going to kind of, like, go through it because I'm a makeup artist, so it's like, we love it. Feel like I need more than just a couple products. I've been obsessed with the refy like, foundation and. Or I guess it's like a tint and concealer. And they also made this, like, powder that's, like, called a wet powder. So when you put it on, it feels like liquid or liquid powder or something, but then it blurs and it mattifies.

Oh, it's a hydrophilic powder.

[A]

Yeah. I have no idea. But I love using, like, when a brand comes out with, like, a powder, a concealer, and a foundation, I use them all together because I feel like that's how they test them. So that's what I've been wearing on my face, and I've been loving it.

So for my blush, I'm wearing Ciel in the shade January Ms. Nikki Derose. Have you guys interviewed her?

[B]

Yeah.

[A]

Yes. Oh, I love, love, love her. My little Aries queen. I love all her products on my eyes. I have my Urban Decay tube job mascara. I love it. I'm also wearing false lashes, but this has been my new favorite. I have one in every purse. And, like, I've been loving. Have you tried this yet? Because I feel like we always talk mascaras because we have, like, difficult lashes. And, like, why do you love that?

[B]

It's.

I feel like usually tubing mascaras are so, like, they just make my lashes fall. I can't explain it. Maybe because it's too wet. I don't know what it is about this, but when I curl my lashes, use this immediately after, and it dries so much faster than most of them. Is that right? Am I crazy?

[C]

No, no, you're right.

[A]

And then I let it dry for a second and then curl it again. And usually tubing mascaras, when you curl again, they get really clumpy. This doesn't do that. So I really, really love this. And then at the end of the day, it's still curled, and I just wash it off with warm water, and it all comes off. And my lashes have been so much better and just, like, not as damaged. I feel like. Like I don't lose as many anyway. Amazing. For eyeliner, I'm also using the Urban Decay liquid stick. Have you guys tried this? Okay.

I'm obsessed with this, but it goes. I go through it so quickly.

[A]

Oh, is it? There's not a lot of product in this.

[C]

I feel like there's not a ton of product. Like, I've gone through the brown one three times.

[A]

Three times?

Yes.

[C]

Yes. I use it all the time, and I love it, but I feel like because of the Consistency of the formula. It's easy to just, like, wear it out.

[A]

Yeah. Use a lot of it. I like this because I've been doing the little Nina park trick, like on the inner corner, and this is really thin. So I literally just go and that and then on the brush on the other, and I'll just like, blend it out a little bit. So anyway, this I've been loving. And once it's set, it is set, like. So anyway, KJH brow the best. I have really stubborn brows. Like, one will listen, the other will not. This I love. And I have like 10 of them. Again, in every purse. I keep some in my car. I have one in some of my, like, celebrities kits because I keep each kit for each girl. So, like, this I love. Okay, so that's pretty much it. And then for the lips, of course, I'm a makeup artist, so I have like a four or five thing lip combo. I use the hung lip liner on in the shade as much as you like. Okay. I love this. Then I use the makeup forever. Pencil in anywhere. Caffeine. And then I used. I think this is called. This is the merit one in Mayfair. It's like a cool tone, but not, like, too gray. And then of course, KJH in Enigma, this is like, almost empty because I use it all the time. I love this.

As a makeup artist, why do you use three or four different liners?

[A]

Okay, so I have a double lip line. I don't know if you guys have seen my. My video about the double lip line.

[C]

Explain what that is.

[A]

Okay, so the double lip line, it's basically my lips are bigger than when I'm not wearing lipstick. My lips are actually bigger than what they appear. So the color of my lips is not the actual size of my lips. A lot of my lip is skin tone color, so I tend to line the part that's coming out of my face. So that to me is a lip, but most of my lip is skin tone color, so that is a double lip line. So the color of your lips is one line and then your actual lip, where it, like, comes out of your face, protrudes out of, like, the shape of it is a second lip line, if that makes sense. I think some people call it like a halo or something or something else. Like, people have. It went viral, so people have commented all kinds of things. But so I like to basically take a color that is my exact lip color, which would be the hung one. That kind of just makes my lips look their actual size. So I'm matching The color of my actual lip color. And then the anywhere caffeine is more of like, I prefer a brown lip liner. So with that, I'll just kind of do a little blurred lip with that one. And then the merit one is more cool tone. So with that one, I'm creating more of a shadow. So I just do more on the top and on the bottom just to give my lips, like, a little pout. So it's more to, like, create an illusion. And then the Katie Jane Hughes is the actual lipstick part. And I love that one because it's like a pinky, but not too pink. It's like a neutrally pinky brown and it has like a little shimmer. Have you guys tried it yet? It's like a frosted, like a slight frost.

Yes, it's beautiful.

[A]

It's beautiful. And I think it blurs a little bit too. It's just, It's. It's stunning.

So very early 90s Revlon, in a way.

[A]

Totally, totally. But it's not too pearly where it's like, cheesy or like a clear, like, frosted lip. It's just stunning. And the way it reflects light creates this, like, filter effect on my lips. Anyway, I love it. I've loved all of the ones that she came out with. And so, yeah, so I think for me as a makeup artist, I'm trying to create this effect of my lips that I can only do with a bunch of different products. But I don't know why I do that. I just. It's just how I like to do it.

No, I feel like now everyone listening is going to have their three different.

Yeah.

Yeah, you have it too. Yeah.

[A]

Yeah. Cuz I feel like once you find your actual lip color, then you can make your lips look naturally bigger without it looking too overlined because it matches your real lip color. You know what I mean? Instead of it looking like crazy lip liner or whatever. And as someone who's half of my lip is skin tone, it really helps with that. So anyway. But, yeah, that's pretty much it. And then. Oh, I've found this Kirsten S. This like ultra styling wand. It's for, like, flyaways.

So I just got this in like a little goodie bag and I've been using that in my hair. Okay. And that's it. My little curling one. That's it, love.

And that's what you keep on you to touch up.

Like no powder, no concealer. Oh, no. You had Your refine.

[A]

I. No powder, really. I have really dry skin. I did Accutane thrice and so I'm like, really dry and I'm going to set after this. So I just brought this to touch up if I need to, like, right before I go start my day. So, yeah, that's pretty much it. And then just a nail polish. My little Dior.

I love hearing all your faves. I'm glad that we have some that are the same. I'm also obsessed with Etch from KJH brand. Oh, yeah, the contour. Yeah.

[B]

Yeah.

[A]

I keep those in my travel kit, like, for my personal. Because I like to use them on my eyes too. Like, you can really. I love her brand, to me right now is like the most exciting one because I love a multi use, multifunction product. And I just feel like as she's a makeup artist, so it's like she knows she loves that too. And it's like one product can do 10 things. Amazing.

I also love, too, that you can literally go to her page and see exactly how she uses the product.

Yes, exactly. And also she uses it in a way that I think a makeup artist brain works and not like someone who doesn't do makeup. So to me, when I see it, I'm like, oh, yeah, that makes sense. I would do the same. And then someone else seeing it for the first time would be like, wow, I never thought about it like that. Which is so exciting when you're, like, teaching and, like, trying to, like, share education and just share your love. Because as a makeup artist, it's like, we don't know what you guys don't know because, like, we do this for a living. Like, I've been doing it for 15 years, so it's like, it's obvious to me where things I do. Like, you're like, why use three products? I'm like, oh, is it not obvious? You know what I mean? Yeah, no, but that's what we ask. Yeah, totally.

I think it's so helpful and it makes people like, I have said this many times in the podcast, but I follow you. I follow Katie Jane Hughes. I learned so much from you guys as well as Danessa Myricks.

[A]

Oh, yes, love.

You three have really changed how I do my makeup. Like, and you've seen this. Like, I've, like, done my birthday makeup and, like, I tried that French look. I hope I did it right. I've never tried this look before. But you teach me so much. And I love that you have really gotten more active on TikTok, which I'm curious, how has TikTok made you better at your job?

[A]

Okay, so when I started doing TikToks, I feel like I come from the, like, era of almost like I. I just hesitated doing it for so long because I feel like as a makeup artist, like, if you told me I'd have to be in front of the camera, like, when I first started, I'd be like, I'm not doing this. You know what I mean? Yeah. But I also feel like growing up, everyone's like, oh, when you can't do it, you teach or something. And it's like, that is, like, ingrained in my brain, which is so not true and wrong. And I've, like, once it, like, got out of my system and I started having fun with it. I feel like I learned so much from Tick tock. And I was like, well, so many people ask me these questions when I do their makeup, and I love explaining it to them. And I feel like every time I explain something to someone or I'm using a product, they're immediately on their phone buying it. And because I'm just saying it with, like, so much excitement. And I was like, and I truly love the products that I use and, like, the products that I'm describing or, like, that I'm using for certain things or techniques that they get excited then too, and then they start buying things or I just would, like, just have it, give it to them, whatever. And so I feel like being on TikTok has helped me help other people because it's also taught me a lot. Like, I didn't realize what a double lip line was. I just knew what I had, but I didn't know what it was called. And everything has, like, a name, and you can just learn so much. And so then I started just kind of filming myself doing these little, like, tips and tricks, or just filming like a whole hour long makeup. And as I was going, I was like, oh, maybe I should teach people how to use, like, a potted eyeliner. And then I had even makeup artists text me, being like, I never thought to use it with, like, a doe foot applicator. And I was like, I've done this my whole career. Like, I was like, to me, this just makes sense. Yes. And so I feel like the joy I was getting from watching other people teach online. I was then also in real life doing. And then I was like, let me just try it, like, whatever. And Then I had to get over the fear of, like, my voice and, like, my face on camera and like, all this stuff because we work behind the camera. But I feel like being on TikTok has made me. And also working with brands like doing Maybelline campaigns and stuff has made me way more detail oriented because I have to break down a process that would come like, second hand to me almost as a makeup artist. I feel like then on TikTok, when I'm explaining it, I then do it even more. I just become better at detail work, like when I'm doing actual makeup on people. So I feel like that in that way, it's kind of made me better. And I've learned so much from other people or products. Like, I remember back in the day, I used to watch Nikki makeup do, like, her Sunday Breakdown. Did you guys ever watch this? Yeah. And I think she moved it to masterclass or something. But she. That's how I learned about all these products when I was working in film in like 2018, 2017. And I miss those so much. And I was like, oh, cool. Maybe one day, like I could. I never thought this then, but then when I started doing TikToks, I was like, oh, this is how this maybe feels for someone else. Like watching these and like, trying out new things and like, you know, using products in a way that people wouldn't think to use them. Which is why I like KJH's brand so much. So anyway, I just was like, I like talking about makeup. I love my job. My job is really cool and I love products and there's so much on the market right now, so I was like, let me just. Let me just do it.

And yeah, because you're on there. I mean, I also engage so much with you, so you are the person that pops up for me.

[B]

But it's funny that you say that. It's like you had to get used to your voice in your face because it just really comes so naturally to you when I watch it. You're so good at.

[A]

You're such a teacher. Thank you. I really had to, I feel like, learn and also learn from watching other people do it too. Like, I remember even watching Katie again, bringing her up again. Katie Jane Hughes. I used to watch her from. I remember when she got gained like a hundred thousand followers. Like when she was like, thank you guys for following. Like, I think this was in like 2018 or something. Like, I've been following her for years and I. One thing that always stuck with me, I don't know if she does this anymore, but she used to do morning stories, getting ready for work every day, and she would repeat the steps, like, as if someone new was watching every time. Because sometimes even on my TikToks, they're like, we get it. You don't have to repeat the step again. You don't have to keep saying this. And it's like, well, also, who knows who's watching it for the first time? Like, if you haven't seen my other five videos, you don't know what a double lip line is. Or you don't know that I have horrible lashes that won't curl or whatever. Like, you don't know these things. So I learned that from her. So then I would just take these, like, little things that I would learn from other people that I was watching and kind of, like, incorporate them. And in terms of, like, learning how to explain things. Because, like, how do you go from doing the teaching, too, when you're not taught that or. Or studied that or, like, you know what I mean? Or, like, for me, it's just trial and error. How do you explain that to someone? Or, like, what's. You have to basically be able to verbalize what's going on in your brain, which is so hard. But, yeah, it took me a second, and I feel like now it's, like, easy, and it's fun to edit, and I have a lot of fun doing it. And I'll just sit there for, like, three hours and film maybe 10 videos and then have, you know, post once a day or something. But sometimes I'm so busy, I don't know how people do all of it. Like, I won't post for a month sometimes because I'm just like, I'm so tired.

I don't know how people do it either. I was actually served a video from Jaclyn Hill, and she had bruising all over her face. I actually don't know why because I didn't finish the video. I fell asleep, but it was a very long video. That's not a shade to Jaclyn. I just literally was tired, and I was watching it before I went to bed. I find her very engaging, but she had bruises all over her face. I'm, like, sitting there waiting to hear why. But she does a really good job of storytelling while doing makeup. But one thing she said during this particular tutorial was that she's like, I don't get how these, like, newbies are out here, like, just telling life stories and doing their makeup. Because when I do my makeup, all I'm thinking about is my makeup.

Yeah.

Like, I can't talk about the makeup.

Yeah.

I don't want to talk about. Like, my night last night, I want to talk about. But then I'm like, girl, you're doing it. She was like, yeah, I'm on a health and wellness journey. And I'm like, tell me why your face is fucking bruised.

Yeah.

I feel like at this point point in my career, and I'm so lucky and grateful to say this, I feel like almost every job is a big job, but also with that comes, like, when you get released from something, you just get so bummed out because you're just like, oh, that would have been so major. Recently, I have worked on some really cool stuff that I can't talk about. And then next week, I'm about to have literally the best week of my whole career. Literally Monday through Saturday, completely booked out. Every day is a different job that is, like, has been, like, on my little manifestation boards, on my little, like, you know, like, something I've always wanted to do, and people. People I've always wanted to work with. So that's coming next week, which I'm really excited about. But I've also been working on a little makeup book.

So, please, someone helped me, because these are just examples. And I still need to do a whole shoot around, like, other things that I need to reshoot and stuff like that. But these are just little zines. And I found out that if I actually want to get it printed into an actual nice coffee table book, which was the goal, I need a publisher I need this and that. They gatekeep everything. You can't just do it yourself anymore. And I'm like, I've tried getting it printed myself. It's just the quality is not there. So I'm like, do I just make little zines? Like, I don't even know anymore.

What is this? Can I see it for a second? Of course. This is French Kiss. It's my little makeup book. And so I am known for making mood boards. And every time someone would text me, being like, oh, or like, a celebrity client of mine or something, I was like, I'm on this makeup campaign or I'm on the shoot or on this editorial, and, like, your whole Instagram is the mood board. So I was just like, okay, fine. Well, fudge it. I'm just going to be my own mood board then. And this is how I used to make mood boards when I worked in film and tv, back in the day when I just was dreaming, dreaming about working in fashion. I would get on Pinterest and just, like, get on my computer and just, like, copy, like, basically collage these looks. And so now I'm doing it with my own work. So basically, this is all my work, basically. And most of them are my photos. Also, like, my bts and, like, through my eyes, the way my beauty. I want my beauty to be seen and, like, glam to be seen. So a lot of These are just BTs of, like, shoots that I was on. But it's basically combining an eye look and a lip look into a mood board, because this is how I used to make my mood boards. And. And then you can flip through it and kind of, like, make your own mood board with it. And they're all, like, completely different, like, and some of them line up, some of them don't. And it looks kind of weird, but it's kind of, like, the fun of it also. I was like, well, if I'm going to be on everyone's mood board anyway, might as well just make my own. And now I want people to, like, take pictures of it and, like, flip it around. Exactly. And you can just make your own, like, so the top half are all

eyelids, and then it's split in half so the bottom are lips, and you can flip and mix and match and create your own look. It's fun.

It's so fun. My original idea was also in the back to have little, like, trading card Sizes where they can take out the lip looks and, like, place them over. So it's like, truly more like this too, where you could put the lip over it. And I was like, well, I don't really do exciting lip looks. Like, all my makeups are known for, like, eyes. Like, the eyes are the focus for me. And so I was like, well, she's been a friend of mine for a long time. Even before she, like, popped off with Zara, we've, like, followed each other online. We're always DMing each other. So I FaceTimed her in January and we talked about it, and she was like, that would be so cool. So once I have more of, like, a legit book in hand, I can send it to her and then she can decide if she wants to, like, still be a part of it or not. Either way, I'm going to do the lip thing. I just thought she's the queen of, like, lip combos and these cool, like, lip techniques and lip liners and everything. I don't know if you've seen her little lip stuff. It's really cool. Yeah, everyone copies them. Like, I can spot a Sophia Sano lip at, like, that someone was inspired by anywhere. So I just feel like she's the queen of lips. And I think it would be cool to kind of, like, do these little volumes with different artists. Like, there's a lot of different things. But I also was thinking if I just do the zines, it could be cute. Like, something people, like, just print out a hundred or something. And it's like a collectible thing. Totally. And then I don't have to go through anyone else, and I can just kind of, like, make it my own little fun thing and collaborate with other people. But I was also thinking, like, when I was like, this is such a great idea, and I've never seen anything like this. This is why I wanted to start posting it too. Because if someone decides to take it, at the end of the day, it's not my no.

What are some brands that you think are doing really exciting out of the Box things that get you excited as a makeup artist.

I was thinking about this question a lot, like, all last night and this morning. I don't know if I'm really excited about anything. Is that bad?

[B]

No, that's great. That's a great answer.

[A]

I feel like I get so much PR and so much. There's very rare where I'm like, oh, my God. Like, wow. Like, this is so exciting. I was thinking, I didn't listen to my last episode, but I was thinking about my last episode, and I think I did bring up Chanel Beauty. And I think the only reason why I say that is is because I like how they went from makeup that was just fine to, like, exciting makeups. Like, I just got the denim collection in. I saw they released this, which they didn't send to me, but this, like, colorful rainbow palette or something that seems really fun. I went to the mall and I swatched it and it's really nice actually. Like, it's just exciting when brands who don't do things that they normally would do do something exciting like that. Because I feel like in the luxury market, it's always no makeup makeup or like, just very, like, clean. And I always get excited when brands like that decide to, like, step outside the box and, like, do things like that. But obviously I love Half Magic. Like, I just think they. They are the closest to me to like, like a cream beauty or sea beauty or like, you know, like Japanese brands that do, like, those really high shimmers. And obviously I worked on Euphoria, love Donnie. But also, like, they've been kind of doing, like, they've been doing that for years at this point. So it's like, to me, I'm like, yeah, of course they're the best when it comes to glitter and shimmers. I love anything Katie Jane does. We already talked about that. Because it's like a multi use functional products. Yeah. I just feel like a lot of brands are all just kind of coming out with the same things. It's really tough to find something really exciting. What are you excited about?

Well, actually, I want to Half Magic because similarly to K Beauty and that, like, they're always on the forefront of innovation. Half Magic's eyeliner pen, that flat paddle,

first of its kind. Totally, totally.

When I was in Japan, I was actually buying a lot of lashes, which I find we don't have those here. Just, like, things like that. So I feel like. But when it comes to actual makeup, makeup, I'm just not really excited about much.

Makeup Forever did come out with this pot eyeshadow that is. I don't even know how to explain it.

But then it's like, actually, I have a makeup video planned about this, but chrome makeup is coming back. Like, to me, that's duochrome. I need to make a difference between metallic, holographic, and chrome because they're all chrome. It's a trio chrome because it's, like, three different shades, and a lot of, like, Stila came out with one. Danessa Myricks also has one. What's the other one? There's a bunch. It's like having this weird, like, resurgence, and I love it because people who are afraid to wear any kind of color, you could just wear. Oh, violet. FR has some of the best ones. I think those are multi chrome, too. I think duo, maybe. But that pink one is so stunning. Like, it's just perfect because it's a little liner. So, like, you could do a little color, but when you move, it's a bunch of different colors. So, like, all these brands are coming out with this now. It's like having this comeback all of a sudden. Like, these, like, chromy.

And then they need to do a blush, an eyeshadow, this or that, because I love a monochromatic look. Like, do a shimmer. Like, imagine an endless cacao shimmer. Oh, imagine anywhere. Caffeine shimmer. Stunning. Even frosted lip would be stunning. Like, anything. Like, they should come out with capsules. Like, I already told Donnie, you need a blushing lizard capsule. You need a glitter puck. Blushing lizard been screaming about that since day one. You need, like, this, this, that, and the other. Like, even, like, a fun, glittery mascara. That's blushing lizard would be so stunning.

I feel like they all need to do that. And I feel like just, like, just make money on your, like, top selling products more. Yeah, exactly. Like, the glittery was so stunning. Yeah.

Okay, we know that you won an Emmy for Euphoria being on the Euphoria makeup team, season two.

[A]

Such a dream.

[C]

So fabulous. You're not returning back to season three because I think the last time we talked to you, you were like, I'm not going back. But then I saw you in a picture.

[A]

I know. Okay. Okay. So I have this thing where I just love the makeup team and the girls and the cast so much because they changed my life. Okay, so we were supposed to film October 2022, and then it kept getting pushed and pushed and pushed and pushed. And at the time when we were supposed to start again, I was working with Maybelline in New York a lot. I was working with a bunch of celebrities. Like, my career was just going like this. And at the Time we were supposed to start Euphoria. And, like, they famously shoot for nine months. I think this last season, they even shot from January till November. That's like 11 months. That's. That's a long time. And I just couldn't give up my life. And also, I was talking to my agent, and they were like, we can't have you step away for nine months. That's crazy. And I was like, I know. Anyway, so I talked to Donnie about it, and I literally called her, and I was like, what are you doing? She's like, I'm at Starbucks. I'm about to go to, like, an Ulta thing. And I was like, okay. And I immediately started crying and, like, just told her that I couldn't come back. And I just ended up getting an apartment in New York and all this stuff. Months go by, and she goes, it's been pushed indefinitely, if it ever came back, because we didn't know what was happening because everyone's schedules were so crazy. Everyone blew up. Everyone blew up. Like, I don't know why it got pushed. I have no. No idea. But she was just like, if it comes back, I don't know when that will be. Would you reconsider? And I was like, sure, yeah, I'll do it. And then it kept getting pushed and pushed and pushed again, again, again. And then it happened last year. And last year, I was still working with Maybelline. I was slated to go on tour with Katy Perry here and there. I ended up getting a friend to take over half the tour, and I did the other half. I was trying to do it all. And the great thing about the Maybelline thing, the Katie thing and the Euphoria thing was they were all like, we want you to be a part of our projects as much as you want to be a part of it. So everyone was so understanding and so lovely. So I was just like, oh, my God, this is so amazing. Like, I just felt so.

That's when you know you've made it.

[A]

Totally. I felt so, like, literally blessed, and I was just like, wow. Like, I. I don't know, because it's three major opportunities that it's just like, I'm trying to bend over backwards for everyone and, like, be literally everything everywhere at once. And so I started with Donnie and loading. So that was loading into the trailer. And I started on the first. First. The first week, I couldn't do it because I was with Katie. So with Katie, I was like, I'm gonna start the tour off with you. I'm Gonna do space, and then we're gonna go. I'm gonna set the look for you. I know we do the first glam ever in space. Thank you so much. I was like, I'm gonna set the look for tour. I'm gonna do space, and then we're gonna go on tour for two weeks, and then I'm gonna. I'm gonna pass it off to my friend and I'm gonna go to Euphoria. And then in the meant labeling jobs as they come in. But I was there a lot at this point. Anyway, slowly, as we knew it would happen, I was there for two weeks, basically total. And then Alexa, I was there for a whole week with Alexa, which actually ended up spanning over six episodes, which is great. So I didn't know this till Tara told me recently. I was like, great, so six different looks, whatever. Then it started being like, Donnie calling me, can you come in? Alexa's coming in tomorrow. And I'm like, I'm on a plane to Paris. Like, I can't, I can't. You have to tell me in advance. But I knew that's not how the show works. Like, because when I was there last season, that they would just be like, okay, Storm is coming in. Because I also did Storm read. Storm is coming in in an hour. Like, we decided. Sam decided she needed to be in the scene or something. Or like, we're switching things around. Alexa is coming in today, or Barbie's coming in. Or like, sometimes we would do the girls, and then they wouldn't even be filmed that day. So it's like, you never know when Donnie brought in the. The new third. Her name's Mara. She's amazing, and she's a big department head in the union world. She's very well respected. Like, spooky Halloween girl. Does a lot of special effects, does beauty. Like, super chill, no ego. Hadn't even seen the show before, which was so funny. But I had a really hard time passing on something that meant so much to me, to someone who was like, wait, which one is Maddie? And I was like, oh, this is like such an important character to me. And I was just like, anyway, it was crazy. And then when I reconnected with Alexa after so many years, we had like a four hour phone call, and we were both on the same level in terms of, like, what Maddie was thinking even without having spoken for so long. So to me, this was such an important project, and I tried so hard to be there. And then eventually all of her big looks were set and Donnie was just Like, I just think it's easier if Mara continues because for continuity's sake. And I was like, totally. And also, we didn't know when it was happening, when she was coming in. And then Alexa kept texting me, being like, are you ever coming back? And I was like, I would love to, but I just think for, like, continuity's sake, it's just easier if Mara does it. Are you happy with her? Like, is everything good? Because I was able to set the tone for her coming into the new season at least, and be like, good to see you again. Like, you know, everyone's back in, and, like, I was there for two weeks and just whatever. And then she was like, oh, yeah, she's great. Love her. And she was even telling Donnie, like, this is how I always pictured Maddie looking and, like, feeling. So I feel like the looks are going to be really fun. And also, as someone who is such a big fan and loves everyone so much, I'm really excited to watch it again as a fan and not. I know what happens because I read the scripts, but, like, I want. Who knows how they have changed since I read them almost over a year ago. So I'm just excited to watch it again as a fan and cheer everyone on and, like. But I do have FOMO and, like, find myself really. Like, when I left set, I thought I was coming back. And I never got to have my, like, Hannah Montana moment where I just, like, yeah, like, touch the mirror.

You know, I never. I thought I was coming back, honestly.

Probably better that way.

[A]

I don't know. I never got to, like, see this thing through to the end the way I wanted to. And I feel like I never got to just say my goodbyes and, like, this chapter of my life. Like, not everyone gets a job that changes your life. That. It really changed my life. I can't explain enough how crazy that high was and how you're always chasing it. And, like, it's just like, this crazy moment that it really changed my, like, total. Completely changed my life. And my life would not be the same without it. And I just feel like I wanted to see it through to the end and. And I wasn't able to do that. And it just really. Like, now that we're getting closer and closer, I think it comes on, like, a week or something. I'm like, find myself sometimes just really, like, oh, feeling like I'm excited to see it, but it also.

So this is from Brittany Montgomery. She said, are we still doing concealer that's a shade lighter than your skin tone under the eyes? I've heard strong opinions on both sides. Would love to hear your thoughts.

[A]

I love this question because I actually use the concealer that I use under my eyes is the same color as my skin because I want it to just even out everything. But I also don't suffer from like. Like, I don't have deep set under eyes and I don't have a lot of, like, discoloration. It's only like a little bit. So I like to wear less makeup because I feel like I have really dry skin. But when I do other people's makeup, I like to just even everything out first. And I'll even put foundation under the eyes. I just like to start with like a clean base, like out everything. Then I'll go in with concealer under the eyes that's the same color as the skin. Just to kind of add a little bit more if they need it. And then the only time I'll brighten is if they depending on the light or if they really, really, truly need it. And it's just going to be the tiniest bit here in the inner corner. In the inner corner. That's it. That's all.

Do you pat it out with a finger or buff it out with a brush or a sponge?

[A]

I do. If I'm not wearing nails, my finger just like a little bit or a really dense brush. Just like a light little dusting, like patting it out. But like the amount that I use is the teeniest little, little, little bit. Unless they want like a full beat, then I'm doing full the whole thing.

Okay. So on that note, Allison Drenning says, best advice for dark under eye circles. I'm nearing 50 if that's helpful.

[A]

Okay. I love the Sarah Creole under eye cream. Have you guys used it? It's like color correcting. It's reflective. I think she does incredible. Also use her concealer with it, because her concealer is really opaque, but it's really lightweight. So it's thin, but it's really pigmented. Color corrects and has a lot of skin care in it, and it's just. It's a great color. They have great shade range. I. I love it. I love it so much. It's great for sensitive skin, too. So I would use the under eye cream first. Sometimes that's all I wear. If I just want, like, a little something because it reflects light, and I feel like that. And it corrects. So that right there solves two problems. And then if you want a little more coverage, I would do that. And once it's set, it kind of sets, but it doesn't set. Drying. I can't explain. Does that make sense? I can't explain it.

The concealer. You're saying the concealer? Yeah, it's self setting, so it doesn't dry down. It doesn't make you completely matte, but it doesn't move either.

[A]

Right. But it's. It's, like, really pigmented, but it's not thick. So it does all the things, like, I love it. I wear it myself.

[B]

I feel like I know a lot of makeup artists who have that concealer in their kit.

[A]

Yeah, totally.

So for somebody, though, that maybe is in their 50s and maybe has more lines increases, like, what are your suggestions for applying concealer to the under eye? Is there a specific area you should be applying it, or is it more about the amount of product you're using?

[A]

I think it's about the amount of product you're using, because the area depends on what problem you're trying to solve, and it's different person to person. And I would just use my finger. I would literally just use the teeniest amount and just start. Because you can always build. It's harder to take away. So just keep. I would just use. When I do my own concealer, I use my fingers. Okay.

And you just tap it in.

Alyssa Portillo asks. I love all kinds of blushes and blend multiple shades. Me too, girl.

What is the best way to pick a blush shade?

[A]

I also think this is personal preference, too. I don't know what the best. I. I kind of. It's hard again, to tell because I just look at someone and it just makes sense to me, like, what blush I would pick for them. I think I saw someone talk about a red blush, like a cherry blush, and that's kind of the best shade for everyone because everyone naturally flushes. So if you're not sure, try that one. I honestly, I love for myself because I have really dark hair, really pale skin. I love a berry tone or like a bright pink. Like, I kind of go between those two. I don't really do too much peach or too much, like, warm. I'm more. I'm like a pale olive, so I lean more, like cool tones. So it's about knowing your undertones, knowing what works for you, but also just like, try a bunch of things. I always say, like, you can return things at Sephora. So just like, go try things. And you'd always be surprised. Sometimes I pick up a shade for myself where I'm like, this is going to look crazy. And then I put it on. I'm like, I look so pretty right now. Yeah, totally. I feel like just trying things out and maybe when you're looking and learning from people online, find someone that looks like you, that has like, your hair color, your skin color, eye shape, lip shape, something like that. Like, if you're trying to learn how to do eyeliner for hooded eyes, find someone who does has hooded eyes, who does eyeliner. Like, if you're trying to find someone who has dark hair, light skin, like me and you, you have that. Like, try to find a makeup artist that has that complexion to help you. Maybe they'll be the same shade as you and then whatever products they're using might work for you as well. I always get the request of like, can you do eyeliner on a hooded eye or something? It's like, well, I don't have hooded eyes, so I can't show you that. Like, I would have to find a model and blah, blah. So it's like things like that. Or can you show what products you use on a darker complexion? It's like, well, I don't have a darker complexion, so I can't show you what. I could hold it up, but I can't show you how it because it won't look right on me. So I would suggest finding someone like that on TikTok or Instagram or something.

Exactly. There's someone for everyone out there.

All right, how do you add dimension to cool toned, very pale girls? Every bronzer is too orange and contours are too gray. So I either look like a Cheeto or an ill Victorian child. I'm open to any hack or the brutal truth. That bronzer contour just won't look natural on me and I should Embrace the full blush look a la Elle Fanning. And that's from Mallory Gendron.

Yes, I understand this completely. There are these blushes, like, Mac has them. They have, like, a whole range. There's one that's called Blush Please. Or I forget the other shades, but they're more. They look kind of like a contour blush. They're more like cool tone, like purpley almost. You can try something like that. But the. The reality is a contour is gonna. Is supposed to create a shadow, so it will look more gray, and a bronzer is supposed to create warmth, so it should be, like, either red or orangey, because that's what you're trying to do. Like, that's what the purpose of these will say. House Labs has amazing contours recently that they launched in a little stick. And the ones in the middle are more neutral shades. They're not too warm and not too cold. I don't know the shade names, but I would say use less product and try going back over it again with your foundation brush, whatever is left over. Because if you're just trying to use it to just like, carve out a little bit, just try that and try finding a good placement for it. Like, for me, I have a round face, so if I ever do contour, which is rare, I usually only do blush. But if I do, it'll be like a little bit here, but I won't do it all the way up here because I look insane, because my face snatch doesn't work for me, only, like, softer features and softer techniques work for me. So you also have to figure out your face shape and what works for you. But I do find that contours a lot of times make you look dead.

Not everybody needs to be snatched.

[A]

It's like, honestly, blush. I only ever use blush on myself, like, truly. But if you want something a little more shaping, try the blushes that are a little more brown or that look a little bit more purpley, that look more like a shadow. Try that. Totally.

I love, like, just skin and blush.

Yes.

Same. I. And also the thing about contouring, too, it's like if you don't blend it enough, if you turn, you could see the line. Like, there's so many times where it just looks like a brown line. I see that on so many people. It just is so much better if it's just more natural and just let your face be your face. Yeah.
