G L A M Los Angeles.
B
Hi, Kirby.
A
Hi, Sarah.
B
Welcome to Los Angeles. Kirby.
A
Yes.
B
What do you think Taylor Swift's wedding makeup is gonna look like?
A
This is the million dollar question.
B
Is she gonna wear a red lip?
A
No.
B
No.
A
I am begging you. I'm begging you.
B
Yeah.
A
She can't. To her glam team.
B
They wouldn't let her unless she was like. Unless it was like a theme.
A
You cannot do a red lip. I am begging you. I am personally. So this is my whole thing. Taylor Swift. You have to have a signature look as a pop star.
B
Totally.
A
Because you know you are super famous when people make Halloween costumes off of you.
B
Yes.
A
There's Cher.
B
Right.
A
Where there's two different Cher's. There is the long black disco era. Midrith baring Cher. Then there's if I could turn back time. Cher with big hair. Big hair. Ass owl.
B
Yeah. Leather jacket.
A
Leather jacket.
B
Yes.
A
You got Britney Spears.
B
Yep.
A
Multiple iterations of that.
B
So many. Madonna.
A
Madonna. Cone bra, long ponytail.
B
Headset.
A
Yes. Taylor Swift bangs. Long brownish blonde hair. Guitar. And a bodysuit of some sort.
B
Sparkly.
A
At one point it was a hat with a white shirt that said not a lot going on at the moment from her 22 era.
B
Okay.
A
There was curly haired Taylor.
B
Yep.
A
Okay.
B
Like very tight. It was like a side part, right?
A
Yes. Curly haired Taylor did not have red lips, but 22 Taylor era's version. Taylor, she has red lips. Yeah. For her wedding. Some of my favorite images of Taylor Swift. If Taylor Swift would acknowledge the fact that she could be such an amazing androgynous woman in terms of her aesthetic. So like slicked back, wet hair. She did this spread for Wonderland magazine that to this day is still my absolute favorite of hers. She looks stunning. She doesn't have on a ton of makeup, no red lips. Her hair is slicked back. So that's why.
B
Oh. So yeah. Cause she's a beautiful woman.
A
Yes. She doesn't need the red lip. She doesn't need the wings lining up.
B
She does it.
A
But it's her signature look. People come to expect it of her. And there could be a whole discussion about why she dresses the way she does and why she does the makeup. She does.
B
Sure.
A
There is like very. This woman is so calculated, so strategic. Like there's reasons for that. Right. That is her image. But that's why I was rejoicing.
B
What? No, I'm just laughing at. I'm just laughing at your. You've thought about this. Obviously. That's why I asked.
A
Yes. Because when the life of a showgirl Album was revealed. I'm like, we won. She's not wearing a red lip and there's no winged liner. And Hera. Yes.
B
Yeah.
A
And I was like, thank you, Jesus. And that's why I like the Midnights album, because she's got this really pretty blue eye without a red lip.
B
Okay.
A
I like when Taylor leans into, like, a 70s aesthetic, too. I really think, like, that fits her really well. But I love when her hair is pushed up off her face.
B
Yeah.
A
I think it's because she has bangs all the time. So when you get to see her forehead, you're like, the reveal. Yeah.
B
I am so curious the direction that she's. First of all, like, what the wedding's gonna look like, how big is it gonna be? Or is it gonna be intimate? What is Travis gonna wear?
A
I would feel.
B
Is he gonna wear white? Are they both gonna wear white? Or is she gonna lead into a theme and, like, not wear white?
A
I do not. They're not gonna do a theme. It would be tragic if they did a theme. I'm sorry. Like, I do not want a Jessica Biel dress. You know what? Her Giam Battista Valli.
B
Oh, yeah, yeah.
A
The pink dress, like, it's a no from me, dog. It's not. It's not it. I also, I think there'll be multiple looks. There will be multiple looks. I can guarantee you. One of her reception looks will be this, like, straight across top, no straps, mini dress.
B
Strapless.
A
Yes. And something for that does the form fitting, legs exposed. There's going to be something of that nature. I would love to see her. She's obviously going to get something custom.
B
Yep.
A
I would love to see, like, a sexy look on her. But I'm not talking, like, lace with floral appliques. Like, you see, you know how a lot of people do the bodice where it's like a corset and you can kind of see through it.
B
Yes.
A
See the skin through it. And it's like boobs together. Whatever. I wanna see her. Like Carolyn Bassette Kennedy silk.
B
Yeah. Like classic.
A
Classic.
B
Classic.
A
I would love to see her hair. Maybe down. If she has bangs, it's totally fine. But I would actually. No, I changed my mind. I changed my mind. Not straight across bangs. Curtain.
B
Curtain bangs. I see her down here with her hair down. I don't see her with her hair up.
A
Yes. Down with curtain bangs. And then for the reception, maybe hair and like, a cute little loose ponytail situation. But curtain bangs, curtain bang. A girl. You will. She needs to look like herself.
B
Yes.
A
But I think but it needs to.
B
Be, like, not the. Not her, like, stage self. She needs to look like herself, but in a more timeless fashion. Not to say that, you know, like, I'm not trying to salt on her signature look, but I'm just saying for.
A
The wedding, I feel like her signature look is a look that she does for her fans because they've come to expect it. They know this from her. They're paying money to see her.
B
Right. And she has to look good in front of the person who's in the very last row at the stadium.
A
Right.
B
They have to see her.
A
So I think it's pretty commonly known on the Internet that British Vogue beats American Vogue tenfold when it comes to covers. Okay. When she did British Vogue, Pat McGrath did her makeup. This was in 2019.
B
Yeah.
A
To this day, this is still one of my absolute favorite looks of hers. Because I'm like, she looks hot.
B
Yeah.
A
And she still looks like herself. She's got this kind of golden, taupe, shimmery eye. She's got this really full nude lip going on. Her hair is down. Her bangs are side swept.
B
She still has her wing, but it's, like, smoky.
A
But it's like a Pat McGrath wing. It's not like a little curved wing. It's like a very sexy wing. I don't want her to have a wing. I love that. I'm like, hi, Taylor, I'm a cosmetic consultant for you. This is how I want your makeup to look. I think it's beautiful. It's a lot for a wedding. But if she toned it down, I think that this look could be so pretty for her with, like, this, like, silk dress.
B
Yeah.
A
That's the vibe I want her to go for. Or I need her to have, like, some kind of curtain. Like, I'm looking at this because if you Google Pat McGrath, Taylor Swift, British Vogue. One of the first things that comes up is this image of her in the bejeweled video. And her hair is, like, swept to the side, red lip, like, huge cat eye. That is not the look I want for her. I just don't. I don't. I don't want a red lip for this wedding. And neither does Travis, quite frankly. Y' all are gonna be kissing all night long. I don't care if it's transfer proof. Like, just don't do it.
B
Yep.
A
Travis, so help me God, you cannot be in a white tux.
B
I was. I think he's gonna be in a white tux. No, that's how I see for him.
A
I hate white Tuxes. I'm just gonna put it out there. I have never been a fan of a white tux. I don't think it looks good. Think it's weird. Just do a black tux.
B
I don't think that very many people can pull it off. I'll say that there are some who like a handsome black man in a tux. There has to contrast.
A
I don't care how handsome the man is. I just think white tuxes are so cheesy.
B
It's a little cheesy.
A
It's cheesy.
B
It's a little cheesy. I'm seeing a picture of David Beckham with a black.
A
Like, the only man that could do a white tux. Yeah.
B
Handsome.
A
I just am not into the white tuxes. I want him to be in a very beautiful black Tom Ford tux. Or if they're gonna do some kind of springtime shenanigans, maybe a tan or khaki situation. I don't know. But I would prefer black. I hope my dream would be they literally elope. And then it's like, surprise, we eloped and I'm pregnant. Where do you think.
B
Okay, if they don't elope, where do you think it'll be? Where do you think they'll get married?
A
She was born and raised mostly in Pennsylvania on a Christmas tree farm. He is from Ohio.
B
Okay.
A
Maybe they'll stick to the Midwest. I don't know. But, like, also, they probably do not want anybody in the United States to get wind of, like, when and where this could possibly be.
B
Yeah. No.
A
So I could see them going to Europe, like, Como.
B
Got it.
A
Something to that effect to be like, okay, we gotta, like, kind of cease as much of the paparazzi situation as possible. But it just depends. Because it's like, well, is he gonna be in season?
B
Right? Oh, no. I feel like this has gotta be off season.
A
Yes. A summer wedding.
B
Yeah. And they need some time to plan it. I didn't know that they were the same age. He was born in October and she was born in December.
A
An older man. That's all I'm asking. Is travy. Kill a trav. No white. No white suit. I love that you are very loud with your.
B
I see it. But I hope. I also. I agree. I hope that he goes just with black tux. Cause he's a handsome man.
A
And this is actually my. I've said this in comments because I am parasocially invested in this, apparently. But you and like, every other person, 10 million, even people that hater are parasocially invested in this. Okay. I almost wish that like she just posts one singular photo on her Instagram of the wedding and that is it.
B
You don't think like you don't think.
A
I think it would be such a flex. Yeah, she doesn't need to. The other thing that I really liked was Alex Cooper. When she got married, it was like four posts, one of each day of her wedding. And it was like you got like 40 photos and they were great. But it wasn't this month long extravaganza of her posting every effing thing about her wedding. And I think it kind of just speaks for itself. It's like as much as you are loving your wedding and your parents are loving your wedding, nobody else is loving your wedding as much. Get it done. Post quickly, get it out there and like live your life. I just think it would be such a flex if she was like husband and wife. Mr. And Mrs. Kelsey. Mr. And Mrs. Swift. Kelsey. Whatever. Oh man.
B
Watch him take her last name. That'd be amazing. I would love that.
A
I don't think he will be doing that.
B
Travis Swift.
A
Travis and Taylor Swift.
B
Kelce Swift, Kelsey.
A
Or maybe she'll just truly do it. Kick it old school.
B
Or maybe she won't. Maybe she'll just keep her.
A
Yeah, I mean. I mean legally.
B
Yeah.
A
Honestly, I think it's fine if she just keeps Swift Taylor. If you really want to talk to someone about this, I clearly. I'm looking out for you, girl.
B
I wonder when it'll be. And I wonder if her ring is.
A
Beautiful, by the way.
B
Her ring is beautiful. I wonder if her and Selena are sharing notes.
A
Yeah.
B
Cause Pinterest boards.
A
Selena just posted her bachelorette party.
B
Right.
A
So she has to be getting married soon.
B
Yeah.
A
And then I was trying to read the balloons and it was like Mrs. Levin. And I was like, who the fuck is that? And then I forgot his name is not Benny Blanco.
B
Yep. It's not Benny Blanco. It's like Levine.
A
Is it Levine or Levin? It's L, I, V I N, no.
B
E. Okay, then maybe it's Levin.
A
Yeah. I thought that's why I was like, who'? Mrs. Levin? Because I was like trying to figure. I'm like, is she there for someone else? And then she was wearing a veil.
B
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
A
So then I was like, oh yeah, duh. It's not Benny Blanco.
B
At the fragrance launch, she looked ready to be a bride. She looked stunning.
A
Was she wearing white?
B
She was wearing like off white. It was like, er. I guess technically it Was. Yeah, it was like an ivory, but.
A
Oh, it's. It's Levin. Benjamin Joseph Levin.
B
All right.
A
Who has brought us some. So many hits.
B
Will they be in each other's wedding?
A
Oh, my God. That's why they both need to get married elsewhere. Because, like, the chaos of all the paparazzi of these people, it's just too much. It's too much. It is absolutely too much.
B
Thank you. I really was curious what you thought.
A
Thank you for asking. Because I really needed to get it out there to someone. Because I'm just sitting in my room going, here's what I think. Taylor cannot wear a red lip. She can't do it. No, just don't do it.
B
Don't do it. Stay away.
A
All right. I wanted to get this out in the open road enters Sephora this week. It's happening. And have you seen the press packages going out with the little mini versions of all of their gifts? I like, messaged Hailey that. I'm not saying that as a flex. She gives, like, a million messages, but I was like, I still have all of mine. Like, I have the milk carton.
B
Me, too.
A
I have the.
B
The jelly bean.
A
I have the giant disintegrating soap. Oh, you didn't. I didn't use it.
B
Oh, my God.
A
I just. I thought it was too precious.
B
Yeah, I wish that I didn't have. But I did.
A
I didn't get jelly bean.
B
Oh, you didn't get the jelly bean.
A
I didn't get the jelly bean.
B
That's weird. I have the strawberry in the back of all my zooms.
A
Same.
B
What else do I have? Yeah.
A
Oh, I have my phone case, packaging.
B
Yep. Yep. It's just. They're just so good.
A
It's good. I still have my Christmas package. The fuzzy one. Oh, you do? Unused. I won't use. I know.
B
You sell that for big bucks.
A
Listen, I should start a museum of all the artists. You really should. In my office. Truly.
B
You really should. I have really tried to save as much as I can, but I'm, like, running out of space. Truly. But I have, like. It's really fun when people come in. They're like, this is so fun. There's, like, so many kitschy things.
A
Yeah. Little kitschy things. Yeah. It's a lot of fun, but.
B
That's really cute. But. Oh, my gosh. Big. Oh, my God. I'm just thinking about.
A
I can't wait to see what the gondola looks like. Someone give us a preview.
B
I'm just, like, imagining they, like, children.
A
Screaming, running around. Okay.
B
And I bet you. Because I heard someone tell me. I can't remember who told me, but like, that. A lot of the tweens. I'm assuming they're tweens. Shoplift the Summer Fridays lip butter bomb.
A
Yes, you did tell me this.
B
I 100% think that shoplifting will be back. They are going to be swiping the packaging.
A
Shoplifting will be en vogue at Sephora with this.
B
Good luck.
A
Have fun. They're going to be stealing the testers.
B
They are 100% stealing the testers.
A
They're going to have to start the mists.
B
Oh, See you later.
A
They're going to have to start hole punching. Oh, my God.
B
With a hook.
A
With a hook or a sensor? No, literally, like, they're going to have to figure it out.
B
Oh, my gosh. Yeah.
A
But okay, if you have never tried rode and we had a question actually in the slack being, like, never tried rode before, but then I tried the glazing milk and absolutely loved it. Like, what are your thoughts on this brand? And so many people were like, oh, I love this product. This product. This product.
B
Okay.
A
If you were going to Sephora and helping someone shop Rhode for the first time, what are the two products you would tell them that they need to try to really understand road as a brand.
B
Okay. I personally think the lip tint, like, I just think, like, it's, you know, the. The product that they launched with, it's like, very iconic to the brand, so. And even though one would argue it's not very different from what else is out there on the market, I just think, like, if you're going to buy into the brand, like, that's one that you need to have. And then I honestly use a lot of their products. I really like the glazing milk, but I will say their OG moisturizer. The barrier cream. Is that what it's called?
A
The BRC barrier cream?
B
Yeah, Barrier pear cream. It's just so good. Matt goes through it, like, so fast. Like, he goes through it, like, it's like, what, water? And I just. And anytime I have like a breakout or anything like that, if I'm traveling, I always bring it with me. It's just a nice, reliable moisturizer. What about you?
A
That was gonna be my first pick. A barrier repair cream or restore cream.
B
Restore cream. Okay.
A
I used it today. I love using it.
B
Amazing under makeup.
A
Yep. I also like the serum. If I'm going out at night, I use the serum alone because I feel like it's a good primer almost for my makeup. But yes. If you're gonna pick one skincare product, I would say the Barrier Restore cream. And if you are going for lips, I'll be completely honest. Rhodes Lip products are not my favorite. I still find them to not be as hydrating as maybe other products are for my lips specifically. So even though I love the smell of them and I like having it on my phone case, and obviously it's like, you know, a fun thing to show off, I don't find myself consistently going back to them. The only one that I truly was obsessed with was the passion fruit, and that was a limited edition.
B
Yeah, I really like the.
A
Is this the Lemon Teeny?
B
Yes, the Lemon Teeny one.
A
I do like the Lemon Tini. I'll put it that way. And I think that this new formula is a lot better, obviously, than the old, But I still, for whatever reason, feel like I get little. It doesn't feel as smooth.
B
Pills a little bit.
A
It doesn't feel as smooth. So I believe that's probably the cheapest thing they have. So it's gonna be flying off the shelves. But if you're looking for a makeup product, I think the blush.
B
Oh, I totally forgot about the blush. I'm wearing it today.
A
I love Piggy. I love Sleepy Girl Croc.
B
The blush, I think that they make some tan lines.
A
Yeah, they make some beautif. Beautiful, beautiful blushes. It's easy to apply. It's not so silky that if you are blending it out, it just disappears. Like, it's not. It's creamy, but it's not creamy enough to disappear on your skin. And that's why I really like it. It has a little bit of, like, a grip to it, and I think it shows up really beautifully and blends beautifully on top of your foundation or contour or whatever.
B
Yeah, I really like.
A
Those would be my two picks. I don't know if they're gonna come out with a travel version of their mist, but if they do buy that, yeah, I think the mist is a sleeper hit. I don't think a lot of people really think twice about mists. And I have said this before in a review, but when I put that on at night and I wake up in the morning, my skin is still bouncy, and it really holds in all the moisture that is lost in the desert here in Los Angeles.
B
So, yeah, I was actually thinking about that. The mist. Cause I know that, you know, people like to use it to, like, refresh or. It's in the description. It says you can use it after a workout or Something I wouldn't use it for that. Like, I like to use it on a clean face before I apply my.
A
I love it.
B
As skincare or the actual skin care.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. So if you guys are going to Sephora's to get this stuff, please send us pics. I want to see like how it.
B
Looks and I'm going to stay away from it for a little bit.
A
Yeah, I'm like, I need to avoid at all costs. It's just going to be like a.
B
Riot at a real zoo.
A
Okay, we haven't talked about this in a minute, but guess What? Ulta Beauty's 21 Days of Beauty event is finally here.
B
I never know when it is because there's so many sales.
A
Yeah. I'm like.
B
But it's a big one.
A
Which sale is this?
B
Yeah.
A
So there is a lot you can get up to. Just Remember it's a 50% off or up to 50% off ordeal from brands like Benefit Cosmetics, Sacred Supergoop, Mac, Lancome, Fenty Beauty, Tarte Redken, Urban Decay, Nars It Cosmetics, Clinique Peach and Lily, and so much more.
B

A
Okay. I think that this is a worthy steal Beauty Blender, the original pink makeup sponge will be 50% off. So. And I believe it's like $25, so. Or is it 20? It's 25 or 20. I mean, it's an expensive sponge. So that's why I'm saying, like, if you can get it for half off, get it now.
B
You know, a question that I didn't ask Rianne that I wanted to was like, how often are you switching out your sponges?
A
Oh, yeah, yeah. Cause remember, people used to, like, cut them open and be like, mold growing in it, and you're like, oh, shit, it is $20.
B
You are correct.
A
Yeah. So $10.
B
Yeah.
A
Buy five.
B
Buy five.
A
That's me. I would do that in a heartbeat. Okay. I would also be getting. The Kate Somerville Eradicate Acne Spot Treatment will also be 50% off. And it looks like all of these are 50% off.
B
I know.
A
It doesn't. It's not just up to 50% off. It's like every single one of these is 50% off. Kate Somerville's Eradicates Acne Spot Treatment. We've had Kate Somerville on the podcast and we've talked about how many of her products we're obsessed with, but truly, like, this is a brand new. I trust and keep going back to. I just think they make beautiful, beautiful products. And the Acne Spot treatment, if you like dipping a Q tip into something and then spotting it, like I do, I grew up with that mechanism. Yes. It's like a salicylic acid, like sulfur, I think, kind of situation you dip your Q tip in and then you.it on whatever breakout you have, and it's like, at least minimized by the next day. Anything else?
B
Okay. Have you tried the Oak Essentials products? The Jenny Kane stuff?
A
I have tried is a loose term.
B
You got it.
A
I received and, like, played but didn't integrate.
B
Okay, okay, okay. It's very luxe. I really like their products, their face polish, their Oak Essentials renew face polish, 50% off on Tuesday, September 16th. And it is exclusive to Ulta Beauty. Ooh. So pick that up.
A
There's just.
B
I love.
A
I mean, there's a million in this bookman.
B
I love Beekman Pattern Beauty. Literally, just go into. Just walk into your Ulta or go.
A
On their website because it'll, like, break the whole thing down. It's 21 days.
B
Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Day Cream. SPF 23K.
A
So many good options. And there's also first time steals, like, marked deal. Jacob's Daisy. Daisy Love. So, so sweet. Oud Toilette.
B
Is this all on the website?
A
Yes. Because every day they pop up and say, this is on. This is a deal.
B
Okay.
A
So go in there, especially if you're like. If you're looking for a new fragrance, like, this would be the time you're like, I know. I love this fragrance. Go see if it's. I mean, everything's listed there. Yeah. Yeah.
B
It is time for fall. You're looking very fall. I love it.
A
Thank you.
B
Gorge.
A
I'm trying.
B
It is time for our fall trend reports. They are out, and Pinterest released theirs. We love reading theirs because it's all based on data.
A
Yes. And this is specifically for Gen Z, so they talk a lot about how they've been finding that Gen Z is really into thrifting. So, like, the whole theme of this particular trend report is kind of what's old is new again, and we're seeing a lot of that. Sarah, what is the first trend that we will be seeing in terms of beauty?
B
Okay, so clean grunge. When I first read that, I was like, that seems like an oxymoron. Like, I don't understand. But it said that searches for clean grunge makeup spiked 652%, signaling. Signaling a shift towards a grunge revival with a modern, polished twist. Think smudged eyeliner, moody tones, and textured edges, but balanced with luminous, fresh skin. So, you know, I think it's, like, still, like, really skin, I think will always be in. But when we think about, like, old grunge, maybe it was, like, less about that, where it's like you kind of just, like, roll out of bed, and, you know, you're. You are waking up with the makeup that you wore the night before. But this is like, you did your skincare. You did, you know, your. Your base, and you're looking good, but your eyeliner's a little bit smudged. You've got, like, a dark lip, and. Yeah, so it's got, like, a little bit of edge to it, but it's still pretty.
A
Yeah. I was looking at the searches in terms of growth, and the top growth term was clean grunge makeup and brown grunge. So instead of it being mostly black, smudged eyeliner and things like that, it's. I would say if I'm looking at this Pinterest board that they provided, you do have some black in there, but then the lips are, like, frosty or taupe y or nude even. Maybe there's a little cherry cola thrown in there, but a lot of it are these cool toned grays and browns versus it being just straight black the entire time. There's even some Metallics in there, and.
B
Then there's, like, a lot of gloss over it.
A
Yes. Like, we're starting to see the rise of, like, rum raisin again.
B
Totally.
A
Obviously, spice has always been. The past couple years, spice has had resurgence.
B
Right. And even just like, the lip combo of, like, a liner and just gloss for, like, the nude lip. Very much a revival from the 90s.
A
Yes. I saw that Mac, I guess, reformulated or relaunched their lip eraser. And essentially it kind of just looks like a concealer that you would put on your lips, but it's way creamier now.
B
Oh, okay.
A
And so it kind of like, leans into that grunge idea of, like, a very minimalist lip with a liner and then going into the brown. I think, like, when I think of clean grunge, it truly does. I think of, like, a brown, really messy, smoky, using a brown. Brown color.
B
It's not as harsh as, like, a black.
A
Right, right. Like last year if brat was the black liner. This year it's the brown. The brown.
B
Yeah. What about hair, Kirby? What are we seeing? Or what is Gen Z looking up?
A
Okay, so Gen Z is looking up 90s pixie cuts couldn't be me. Which is really interesting because the top search terms that grew the most for Gen Z were chic pixie and short blonde pixie black women. And remember when we were talking about how cost of doing business acquired bread and they said that they were going to be doing this, Was it a giveaway where they were gonna be offering black women pixie cuts? Because they've been seeing people looking for it and, like, talking about it.
B
Yes.
A
I'm trying to pinpoint who started that trend or, like, what kicked off that trend. But I just recall reading about how that was, like, one of the first initiative that initiatives that Olamide's cost of doing business. Is it business? Yeah. Cost of doing business was going to be doing with Maeva's Bread Beauty supply.
B
Oh, wow, Great memory.
A
So I thought I found that to be really interesting, but really, it's grown that, like, 90s pixie cuts has grown over almost 2000%. So clearly a huge uptick. And again, like, if you're not searching for anything like that before, and then all of a sudden something happens. It's indicative of, like, something. Something happened that made people start searching. This, in my opinion. But it's a short, bold hairstyles making a comeback. I think of Emma Stone.
B
Yes.
A
And we've recently now seen that, you know, she did in fact shave her head for that movie. And now her Hair is growing back out and she looks fabulous and it's really cool. I remember growing up Halle Berry.
B
Remember Rihanna's pixie cut era.
A
Rihanna had an amazing pixie. Charlize Theron. Some people can really pull off a beautiful pixie cut. It could not be me.
B
Could not be me. Could not be me.
A
It absolutely could not be me. My big old head. Are you kidding me? It would be freaking crazy.
B
Stop.
A
But I love that, you know, instead of like having this like long whatever hair, it's clear that not only are Gen Z, but black Gen Z women are looking into it and blonde versions of it. So I'm trying to think like, who I see blonde, like a blonde pixie cut.
B
Yeah. So I remember Zoe Kravitz had a blonde pixie, But I don't think. I mean, she is a trendsetter, but I don't think that is the reason why search has increased.
A
I'm like, I'm looking. And if you look up blonde pixie on Google, the thing that populates first for me is black women. Which black women? Tell us who is starting this. Was there a moment that everyone decided, no, I'm doing a pixie cut and I'm dying my hair blonde. Let us know because I'm looking at a bunch of images that populate on Google and they seem to be older. They don't look like recent images and they're like user generated looks. They're not like celebrities or anything. So I'm curious who. Oh, actually, hold on, let me click this. Blonde pixie cut on black women. Discover Pinterest best ideas. Okay. I mean, there's a bunch of really beautiful inspirational photos in this group to look at, but I don't see a.
B
Specific person who is Eva Marcille. She was a Real Housewives star.
A
Oh, you mean the girl from America's Next Top Model?
B
Is that who it is? Because I feel like I'm like looking at her picture and I was like, I think she. This is like a very iconic.
A
Oh, yeah, right, That's. Yes.
B
I think that this has to be on every person's Pinterest board if you are looking for a blonde pixie cut.
A
She was great on Real Housewives, by the way.
B
But yes, that's where I saw America's Next Top Model.
A
Yeah, America's Next Top Model. Yes.
B
I mean, again, if you look as.
A
Beautiful as her, I mean, she had an amazing blonde pixie. Is that what people are referring to or is that what people are pulling up? I mean, she is an iconic one.
B
Yeah, I Think that's definitely one of the most iconic ones.
A
Okay.
B
But no, I wanna know. Who are you guys looking up?
A
Please tell us. Okay, then we have sea skincare.
B
Sea inspired skincare. At first I was like, what do we wanna look like, mermaids?
A
No, same.
B
But it was like, salmon DNA up 623%. Snail essence.
A
Yeah, like Cosrx. Snail mucin is, like, up 33%.
B
Yep.
A
Salmon DNA is up 623%. We already have. Yeah, we've down. But y' all know why. Y' all know why. We don't need to go into it. And then autumn fragrances. So one thing that I think Sarah and I both learned when we were at popsugar and Bustle was that in July, people start looking up fall and Halloween specifically. So I remember when we were planning Halloween content, our first meeting was like, July 1st or something crazy. And this tracks to me because clearly people are thinking, okay, like, there's something that happens to me after 4th of July where I'm like, I'm done. Yeah, bring on the fall.
B
I know. Which is hard in. Because it doesn't start getting hot here now until August, like late August.
A
So then you're like, oh, you're like, I want. We're in the throes of summer turtlenecks.
B
And my pumpkin spice or chai lattes. But it's like 90 degrees.
A
Yeah. We'll be sticking to iced lattes for a little bit. And our AC's up because, damn, it's hot. But autumn fragrances are up 77%. Notes like Apple, caramel, and vanilla notes are rising in popularity.
B
Apple fragrance reminds me of bath and body works.
A
Same. And the top search term for growth was layering scent combos and vanilla scent aesthetic.
B
Vanilla not going away.
A
Vanilla scent aesthetic, though.
B
Aesthetic. What I'm clicking.
A
Rare was pretty on the mark with.
B
Their fragrance layering with some vanilla in it.
A
Layering vanilla notes caramel. Because that's a sweet, decadent fragrance.
B
What does aesthetic mean?
A
No, that's what I would love to hear from you.
B
Is that, like, vanilla girl?
A
Yeah, but like, like, cozy vanilla girl fragrance. Like, you have this, like, big cushy peach with a chunky knit, and you're sitting on it with, like, a little.
B
Mug and, like, fall with, like, a giant candle lit.
A
Yes, yes.
B
Okay.
A
I think that's the vibe. But we defer to Gen Z because this is apparently what you're looking up. So what is vanilla? This is one thing I would love for Pinterest to start doing, and maybe we can help Them with this. But when they come up with, okay, this is what people are searching, and this is how we're seeing context. We need some context. And we also need products.
B
Yes.
A
Like, are people linking to specific products? Is there a product that's being searched?
B
Where's the shopping?
A
Right. Like, where's the shopping aspect here? Because I would love to have clicked on this and been like, clean grunge makeup. Oh, it's this Mac Pot. I'll buy that right now.
B
Exactly. This island.
A
But it's just sometimes I feel with Pinterest specifically, they give us percentages, but then we don't understand.
B
Yeah, we want to translate it, which is what we're doing. We're, like, trying to translate it, but I'm not Gen Z, so I don't know what vanilla scent aesthetic is. I know what vanilla scent is, and I know what vanilla girl aesthetic is. But the two together, I mean, I think we figured it out.
A
Yeah.
B
Also almond scent and scent. Garden.
A
Scent. Garden.
B
What is scent Garden.
A
What could that mean? Is that a term that people misconstrued when they meant scent wardrobe?
B
Could be.
A
Can I. Can I ask?
B
Or is it, like. Is it, like, what scents from a garden? Like roses?
A
Like garden scents?
B
Yes.
A
But wouldn't you think it would be, like, garden scents? That's another thing, though. For Pinterest, I'm like, if they're looking. If someone is looking up scents. Garden. And then multiple people start looking that up. Clearly they're looking up garden scents.
B
Yeah.
A
So, like, just make it garden scents.
B
Hold on. I'm gonna look it up. On Pinterest, I'm just looking at garden. It's just giving me garden. It's not giving me sense.
A
I need to read something to you.
B
Please, because this is now, like, I'm getting lavender gardens. I'm not getting. Tell me. Read to me.
A
There are so many terms I've seen people say on the Internet that I'm like, are we in a literacy crisis potentially?
B
We are.
A
And this is not a particular demographic. This is everybody on the Internet.
B
Totally.
A
And I started keeping a running list of things I've seen people say that they did not mean. On Love Island, Huda kept saying, escape goat.
B
Escape goat.
A
I saw an influencer say, I'm feeling so indifferent about it. They meant divided.
B
Yep.
A
This other influencer said, if you're an inspiring influencer. She meant aspiring. No, you know this one, because I will not shut up about it. People keep saying soless instead of solace, someone said independency.
B
That's not A word compass.
A
Skating. They meant composcating.
B
No, they didn't.
A
Yes, Compens.
B
No one said that.
A
Yeah, I pull out my phone, literally, I go to my notes app every single time, and I write these down. Cause this is where we're at. Compiscating. They meant compensating. And trust me, I'm a girl that cannot pronounce things properly. I am not saying that I am better than anyone, but I do think that maybe it's because when we were younger, and again, I said that this was not about younger people, but I do think that when we were younger, we didn't have a place to go and talk about this stuff out loud on the Internet.
B
Maybe. I also think, though, because when I see typos and stuff like that. Yes. Like. Like I come from a background of editing. I'm just like, constantly trying to look for typos. But I'm like, with all the resources we have now, you probably got an email on Los Angeles podcast that was like, Grammarly. Like, I. I have Grammarly on everything. Because I'm like, I need someone to make sure that I have no typo there. We have chat.
A
GPT. Literally, Sarah's like, typo in your newsletter. I'm like, thanks. Did not even double check. Don't even care. And I guess maybe this is learning lesson for me. Cause I understood clearly what they meant, but they were using the wrong words.
B
Gosh, there was another word.
A
Don't you guys love how we really just come back around where we're like. So we were on a rant about this, but now it's like, shut the fuck up, because it doesn't matter.
B
All I have to say that is job, your love.
A
Why did you job your love. What was the thing that I said to you? It was this woman being, like, on a podcast. She was on a podcast. She goes, don't. Don't find a. Don't.
B
What was like, someone said to me, don't find a job that you love. No, no, no, no. Sorry.
A
What did she say?
B
Hold on. We have to pull it up. Cause you said, pull it up.
A
Because we're not. We're gonna butcher it. We're gonna butcher it. And then a guy stitched it and was like, in the shower, like, what the fuck does this mean?
B
I tried to figure out who that woman was. Don't love your job, job, your love.
A
And I'm not. We're not trying to make fun of love, your job, job, your love.
B
But again, what does that mean? What does it mean?
A
What does job your love mean? We want to know what's job your love mean? Okay, that's it. All right, Sarah. Job your love.
B
Job your love.
A
Job your love. I'm standing on business. It's not clocking to you.
B
Job your love.
A
Job your love. Job your love. Job your love. Okay, we're done.
C
