Los angeles.
Sarah
Hi, kirby.
Kirby
Hi, sarah. Welcome to los angeles. We're alive. We made it out of Coachella Alive.
Sarah
Barely.
Kirby
Granted. We didn't stay the entire weekend because we had to get home because we have another important thing to do. Friends, Glamgelinos, we're reporting for Beauty straight from Ulta Beauty World in Orlando as your hosts of Ulta Beauty World. We did it. We did it, Jo.
Sarah
I can't believe it.
Kirby
The crowd goes wild.
Sarah
Almost seven years, over 500 episodes, millions of downloads, and here we are.
Kirby
Here we are. And some of you have been there from the very beginning. From one episode a week, from Zero video, from no Gloss Angeles Confidential. No incentive, really at all to listen to us. But we are partnering with Ulta Beauty, and we are going to be hosting Ulta Beauty World. We will be at the masterclass. So if you got masterclass tickets, you will see us there. There is a spectacular lineup of guests that we're so excited for you to see in action, and we saw what everybody's getting from the masterclass, and it's really great. So we're thrilled for that.
Sarah
I hope we get the those goodies too, Kirby.
Kirby
Yes. Fingers crossed. And then on the expo floor, you'll see us the next day. So the 16th is Ulta Beauty World. It is where all of the brands set up shop. It's very interesting to me to see how people talk about Ulta Beauty World because I did not realize how these people go home with so much product.
Sarah
Oh, it's like, I don't know how it's possible.
Kirby
They have carts.
Sarah
Yes, they have carts. And now Ulta has set up, and maybe they did before. This is my first time going well. It's only been around for two years, but now they have set it up so that you can ship everything directly to your home because it is just impossible. There's so much stuff.
Kirby
There is so much stuff. Now in 2017, and I believe 2018, I hosted what Ulta used to call the general managers conference. And it's where all the GMCs, like all the GMs, rather, from across the country come in. It's a bunch of workshops. But then there's all this fun programming you get to do, and Then on one of the days, there's an expo day, which is basically this. But. But they opened it up to the public. People are taking Hulk and bags and filling them with all of this full size product. I remember I was running around like, what is going on? Like, it was just complete pandemonium. And so when they announced Ulta Beauty World last year, I was thinking, what is this? Like, what is this going to be? And then I started to see people with these massive hauls of product and I'm like, oh, my God. They. They took gmc and now it's called like the Field Leadership Conference. The flc.
Sarah
Yeah. That's like happening now.
Kirby
Yeah. So it's going to start happening. Like, by the time you guys listen to this, it'll be happening. But that's where all their field leadership, the people that are running these stores, come in, get their learnings, and then they get to and imbibe in all of these amazing booths that are going to happen. I mean, I still don't even know what to expect. I'm so excited.
Sarah
I know.
Kirby
But if you see us on the floor, please say hi. We'll be making all kinds of social content.
Sarah
We might want to interview you, so look out for us.
Kirby
We may be interviewing you, we may be interviewing founders on the floor.
Sarah
We're so excited, so honored. I truly don't know what to expect, but, like, it's going to be like Christmas morning when we wake up and get to host the masterclass and then walk around the expo.
Kirby
It's going to be a blast. We can't wait to meet you guys. And if you are listening and you're going to be there, please, please, please come find us. We want to see you if you're a glam Giano. Yay. Okay. I can't pass up the news that Euphoria is back. And while I have seen some pretty intense takedowns of this season, I'm going to reserve my reviews of the season because I've seen the first three episodes and instead focus on the makeup because the makeup is back. Donnie Davey is back. She's back in action. And we. I cannot wait for you guys to see it. It's incredible. Euphoria. Makeup's back. And in a different way, I got to go back to set and I will, in my column for Allure, the scenario be breaking down all of the looks for all of the characters, which you can go read now. Their makeup very heavily is inspired by where they're at in life. And there was a whole different direction. These are not kids in high school anymore. They're full fledged adults. So that's reflected in their makeup. And today it was announced that there is an official Euphoria Half Magic collection. Half Magic is the brand that Donnie Davey, who is the makeup department head. It's her brand that she created, and they have never done this before. They've never had products, they've never had shade names, anything inspired specifically by any of the characters on the show. This one is. If you're a fanatic for Euphoria, this is the collaboration you're going to want to pick up. It's nine pieces. It's going to be live on Ulta. Good old Ulta. On April 29, there's two new products which are the Euphoria palette, which is six shades, and the shade names are all names of the core female characters. And then a new gloss called Bitch My Soulmate, which is iconic to say the least. There's also limited edition shades of certain products, including the Glitter Puck. I believe Glitter Puck may be Half Magic's best selling product. Don't quote me on that, but I think I've heard that a few times. And this one is an iridescent periwinkle. It has, like a. Has this, like, purple shift to it, which is, like, very Euphoria centric. So I think people are gonna lose their minds over that. And I also think that they should make the limited edition shades actually core shades at some point.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
But maybe they're just, like, trying to hype it up for, you know, the collaboration. And then there's three collectible products that already exist in collectible packaging, which is in that, like, deep purple color that we've seen from, like, rose glitter tears and stuff like that. So I've had the products. I was using them in some of my Get Ready With Me stories recently. So if you saw something and you're like, what was that? It was probably the Euphoria collection. And I can't wait for everybody to see the show and, like, start seeing everybody's recreations of all the looks, because they are so, so good.
Sarah
I'm so excited that Euphoria makeup is back, and I'm so excited for Donnie. This is so major. This is really, for Donnie celebrating, like, truly this movement that she started many years ago. And I can't believe that they've never had a collaboration before like this.
Kirby
I know she said that, you know, she showed up to work one day and did her job and tried to do her job to the best of her. Ability. And then the fans are what made Euphoria makeup. Euphoria Makeup, which is really, really cool. I mean, like, Euphoria Makeup withstood a global pandemic where, like, nobody was wearing makeup. And also what we could call the Clean Girl epidemic, where nobody was wearing, like, any makeup at all. So it's a really cool thing. I'm excited for her. And every week in my column, you'll get a breakdown of, like, the top looks, so be sure to follow Allure. I'll be making tons of content around this whether you like it or not. And I just can't wait for everybody to see it, because it is truly, like, a masterpiece in terms of makeup storytelling. We went to Coachella. Now we were in retirement. We were in Coachella retirement. We were like, we can't do this anymore.
Sarah
I never thought I was going back.
Kirby
No. Our bodies are old and frail, and
Sarah
after this weekend, I am reminded why I retired. But if we were going to come back, we were going to do it right. And with the incredible Neutrogena brand Chef's Kiss, top tier. Wow. I felt like we were VIPs. And they also gave us a plus one. And so our friends Laura and Marina, they were living it up every moment. Laura was like, I can't believe this. I can't believe this. She was just, like, so full of glee. It was the best to be able to share it with them.
Kirby
Yes. Obviously, this is our job, so we are used to room drops of product. We're used to certain things. We're used to, like, these fun lounges and glam suites and stuff like that. So it was really fun to bring people that we care about and were able to treat them as well. Marina was losing her mind over all of the Neutrogena product in our room.
Podcast Host/Announcer
Yes.
Kirby
And I was like, thank God you're here, because this is too much.
Sarah
Person stocked it up. It was two full sets of everything from the makeup remover wipes to the rain bath, which Marina was dancing.
Kirby
Thrilled. Thrilled.
Sarah
The scent, the one that they put in our showers. So good. I had never smelled that one before. I was. I've only been familiar with the OG version.
Kirby
Yes. And now they have a new pomegranate version, which they dropped in our room, but sensational. So Neutrogena has been the official Sunscare sponsor for four years running, and I really like to see all of the brands that activate at Coachella to kind of monitor, like, okay, who's actually making an impact. Neutrogena being an official sponsor means that they get to say Coachella. It's actually like, it's funny because we got to go to some parties, but they were very clear that, like, we could not say Coachella in any fashion within our postings. And that's because if they wanted to repost anything that we put up, if it had anything, Ella or like Coach, whatever, it just, it wasn't going to happen. And that's just like a legal liability issue. But it's kind of like the Super Bowl.
Sarah
Totally.
Kirby
But this was the right way to do Coachella. As Sarah said, like, the Neutrogena team knows what's up. This is not their first rodeo. Also, the agency behind Neutrogena, Alison Broad, Marketing Communications. These women know what's up when it comes to logistics. And I think that the general public, they see these influencers, like, begging for brands to take them to Coachella and they're kind of like, oh, God, get a grip. But I mean, there's good reason why they want to go with a brand, because if you go with the right brand, they are taking care of every logistical issue you could possibly think of. Now, I have been to Coachella with brands that didn't do all that, and it's like I would have rather gone by myself and figured it out myself versus, like, having to deal with a group of people that don't know what they're doing.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
The Neutrogena team, which, let's do a little beauty history lesson, little genealogy lesson. For all of the listeners that may not know. Neutrogena is owned by a company called Ken View. And some of their sister brands include Motrin, Zyrtec and Listerine.
Sarah
We love just.
Kirby
I mean, first of all, As a, as 39 year old women, we were like, get us to the Motrin lounge. So not only did they have this beautiful glam suite for Neutrogena where you could go get your makeup done in this really creative way for the festival. You could get hair tinsel. There was like food in there. But then you walk down the hall to the Motrin recharge lounge, which arguably
Sarah
was my favorite spot to be, I'm
Kirby
going to be honest. Like, I was there every day. Like, I was loving it.
Sarah
When we walked in, they had a bedazzled bottles of Motrin. All you got to do is bedazzle something to get my attention. But the fact that it was Motrin, I was like, give it to me. I need this.
Kirby
I grew up with Motrin. Motrin was like yes, My, you know, non steroid whatever of choice from my parents. So we walk in and this recharge lounge, you had a place to obviously charge your phone if you needed to. And this was set up within our own hotel. So all we had to do was like, every morning, wake up, go downstairs, they had like iced coffees ready and waiting for you, pressed juices, they had Thera body products there. So, like, not only the guns to help with, like your legs, your aching feet, but then they had the pants, the compression boots. These compression boots.
Sarah
Compression boots. But they, you know, they come up all the way to, like, your upper thigh area.
Kirby
And after the first day of the festival, I went and did the compression boots. It was a game changer. Changes everything when your body is aching and throbbing from non stop walking. Oh, and also, by the way, like, you're at Coachella, there are dust storms, there's wind, you're blowing out dirt for days on end. It was just, it was absolutely chaotic. But then you could go down to this Motrin lounge and just be like, I'm at peace, man. Like, I'm ready to go.
Sarah
They had these comfortable chairs, they had the boots, they had someone who could take your aura photo. They had just like everything you could possibly need to literally recharge for the next day. I don't think that I would have able to survive Biebercella had I not visited the lounge that morning.
Kirby
Same. And I'll let y' all know that most of the people responding to my Instagram stories were asking me about the Motrin merch. Yeah, they really were like, how do I get that Motrin bucket hat? Where do I get that miniature fan?
Sarah
Yeah. So they also gave us this huge orange pouch with the bucket hat that Kirby was wearing, the mini fan, there was a flashlight, obviously. Some Motrin, some Zyrtec. What else was in there? A fanny pack.
Kirby
There was a water bottle. But to me, this kind of signifies my idea that, like, they need to. Ken View needs to, like, sponsor the entire festival. It needs to be like, there's a Zyrtec lounge somewhere.
Sarah
Yes.
Kirby
There's like, the Motrin needs to have a bigger presence at Coachella. I think it would be like the most absolute brilliant integration of all time. Same with Listerine. Everybody freaking stinks.
Sarah
Yes.
Kirby
Like, everybody's breath was just like beer and alcohol at all times.
Sarah
Yes. Or you're just like out all day. Like.
Kirby
Yes.
Sarah
Inevitably, your breath is going to start to feel very dry and yucky. So that would be brilliant.
Kirby
And I just, you know, obviously, it's like, our job to, like, kind of keep tabs on what's going on. And sure, yes, Neutrogena took us, so this is, like, very much in our face. But then when you got to the actual festival, there were these little vessels. What would you call those? They were, like, little. They were like these little. Mirrored.
Sarah
Yeah, yeah, little. And I think they've done this right in the last four years, too, where you can find a Neutrogena Little stand and reapply your sunscreen or apply sunscreen if you didn't apply it at all, which is just so genius.
Kirby
They have jugs of it with these giant pumps that you just pump out. If you've never been to Indio or, like, the Palm Springs area, this is the time of year it gets really hot. UV index is really high. There's virtually no shade. So if you do want to protect yourself, you have to be wearing a hat. You have to be wearing a ton of sunscreen. You have to be reapplying. So it was overall, I think, just like, a really smart move on their part. Then I wanted to go through a few of the other brands that I. I personally thought had a huge presence at the festival, and not just, like, meaning inside the festival, but, like, people attending and all the different parties. So Dolce Glo did a huge party the Wednesday before Coachella in la, where they were tanning, like, hundreds of women to go to the festival, myself included.
Podcast Host/Announcer
It was.
Kirby
It was so smart. But then they got there. They went to Palm Desert. I was reading. They tanned 300 people over the course of the weekend. So if you saw anybody with a tan, a spray tan, it was Dolce Glow.
Sarah
I wish that she could put, like, a little sticker or, you know, and then you.
Kirby
A little number.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
Like, on your shoulder. Like, I remember logo 430. Like, a little stamp. Yep.
Sarah
Like, Dolce Glow was here.
Kirby
Don't know how they did it. But you know what? They also came to see me before I left the desert. Oh, my God.
Sarah
So you got tan twice?
Kirby
Yes, because it's so dry out there. Like, my tan was coming off because I was showering every day.
Sarah
Got it. That makes sense.
Kirby
So I was like, do I just use my own self tanner? And they're like, we're still in the desert. Where are you? Like, we're coming to your hotel. It was pretty fabulous.
Sarah
I love that. Amazing.
Kirby
Then 818. So 818 outpost is one of the bigger parties of Coachella. It's the party that if you were on Tick Tock, you saw people being like, okay, this is how you get an invite to it. And it's one of the most interesting and also coveted invites because when you get in A, everything's free, but B, there's like a whole postmate setup where people can come and get free food. And then there's like this alcohol setup, obviously. 818 tequila. So they had slushies with Fat Tuesday. They had this like, pickle drink.
Sarah
Oh, I didn't try. Oh, that's right. You had a pickle drink.
Kirby
It was like the hot girl pickle drink.
Sarah
Then they had the road Airstream, which genius. It was like, lip me, sip me. And it had the new caramelized banana lip tint with like an espresso or cold brew drink. That was like such a long line.
Kirby
Everybody wanted it.
Sarah
They had Cloud, Chloe's protein snack brand.
Kirby
They had the new chips, which were delicious.
Sarah
Tasted like Doritos. They had the general store, which was just basically a place for you to get tons of free stuff. So main hair products, Kylie Cosmetics, Lip Butters. I got a huge, simple human travel mirror.
Kirby
There was an urban decay booth, and I got to stock up on my 24.7liquid stick eyeliner I had just run out of. So it was really a perfect timing for me. And then there was also the Lemmy booth, which was like giving away a bunch of her supplements. It was definitely like, no. No Kim presence there. Like skims of any kind or like, you know, her energy focused drink or whatever. But there was like a Snapchat set up. So basically everybody that comes to this, like, walks away with a giant gift bag of stuff. And I guess this year they said that invites were more exclusive, so people were like, begging to try to find a way in. So I just feel like I was walking around the festival and seeing like 818 hats everywhere. Or like. Yeah, the 818 outpost bags.
Sarah
Like, exactly. Or the. The bandana that everyone was wearing to.
Kirby
To.
Sarah
To like shield their faces from the dust storm.
Kirby
Oh, yeah, that was smart. I definitely used that bandana to protect myself while walking to and from the festival.
Sarah
Exactly. I was looking at the list of everyone who stopped by too. It was like Kendall, Kylie, Courtney, Lizzo, Patrick, Ta, Winnie, Harlow. It's like everyone wants to go to this. It's just a fun party. And then they had Kitchenada dj. I feel like it's like. I mean, a lot of people obviously go to both, but, like, sometimes you can just go to Indio just to go to the Parties.
Kirby
And a lot of people do do that.
Sarah
It's just like, yeah, you don't really need. You can just like, stream it from your hotel room. The end of the day, the road party, I think we spent four hours there.
Kirby
We had ambitions to go to a few parties on Saturday, but this was a party that was not publicized at all. So a couple of weeks ago, people invited, got sent a DM or an email saying, we have this party called Road World. We'll be sending you details soon. Those details didn't come until, like, the Thursday before Coachella, and it was really close to the festival grounds, so it was walking distance. So we ultimately ended up getting there, I think, at like, 3 o'. Clock. We stayed till 7. There was so much to do. It was at this estate that I was told, you can only buy a house in this neighborhood if you're, like, approved to. And so it's like Robert de niro, Leonardo DiCaprio. I'm sure, like, the Biebers probably have a space in there somewhere. And they took over the entire. I think this was like a model home or something. I don't even know, like, I don't know what it was, but it was massive.
Sarah
It was almost like the clubhouse of the estates, you know, where you could, like, host something. But it was huge. It was massive.
Kirby
100%. We saw Haley. She had, I think, was just about to leave right when we got there. She looked really cute. You might have seen pictures of her. She was, like, in a pink slip dress with, like, orange lace on it.
Sarah
The vibe overall was just, like, exactly what you wanted for like, a day party where it was chill, the music was really good. So much food. We played games. The balloon darts and the crane for free product. What else did we do? We just. Just, like, had lovely cocktails. We sat in the grass and danced. It really just was a lovely, lovely afternoon.
Kirby
There was a lot of dancing happening at the road party. And it was interesting seeing TikTok talk about, like, the biggest parties that weekend, because a lot of the people that were, like, reporting on those big parties, like, didn't know that road was. And we were told that that was int. Overall, we had a great time there. And then, of course, there were other partners of Coachella that I think had, like, a massive impact. Medicube was the official skincare partner. Wavy Talk was the official Hair tools partner. I didn't see any activations from them on the campgrounds.
Sarah
Wavy Talk had, like, an activation where you could get your hair done.
Podcast Host/Announcer
Cool.
Sarah
Yeah. And Medicube had their big activation as well. I didn't get to stop by because the line was really long, but I saw it. And then obviously they also hosted a bunch of influencers and editors as well that weekend, I think. Did Wavy talk to also? I don't know. There were just, like, so many brands,
Kirby
but I think the ones that, like, really made an impact in terms of maybe earned media value that the people on Instagram and Tick Tock probably saw the most of were themed houses. The brands that decided to put together a house in a themed way. There was the guest house. Right. And there were, like, a bunch of people there that were, like, very popular influencers. And I think, yes, like, obviously, obviously they got name checked quite a few times, but I think that the houses that, like, actually make sense moving forward, and I think that brands should take note of in terms of, like, actually getting the most out of these houses that they're probably spending an exorbitant amount of are theming them in a very specific way. So Tarte had, like, a reality show cast member house. Like, everybody there was from a reality show. Everybody there was obviously making just, like, a ton of content. There was, like, Layla from Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and Jesse from Summer House and Tyler Cameron from the Bachelor. And there were just so many people that, like, you knew from different franchises at that particular tart house. So that was one that I thought, like, really hit the nail on the head and, like, did it the right way. The other was Poppy. I feel like Poppy just is constantly all over everywhere at all times. But it went in turn, and they weren't even, like, at the festival.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
So this is saying something. And I think this may have been, like, the only. How. Correct me if I'm wrong, because I couldn't see everything at every single moment. But Poppy did the Jake estate for Jake Shane, and then they did another estate that they called the McMansion for Mickey Gordon. And these houses, like, they did a really good job on the social. It showed both of them, like, walking in and seeing the house for the first time. And I mean, like, they were houses branded for themselves, and so they got to bring all of their friends. And I think that's like, maybe you just find one or two people that have huge media value impact and. And just go all in on them. I mean, they had, like, a giant stuffed animal octopus for Jake in a room that, I'm not kidding, like, took up the entire room. And I was like, how is he gonna get this home? Like, how did they Even put this there.
Sarah
Oh, my gosh. I love that. I feel like that's just so smart and. And every year, obviously, brands have to figure out how to, like, outdo themselves and everyone. I think for a while, the last few years were sort of tired of Coachella content. You know, it just kind of was like, boring and it looked the same. But I felt like this year was so exciting, obviously for many reasons. Justin, Sabrina. But I do think, like, what you're saying with these themed houses and these different brands activating in really smart ways that you wouldn't expect, like, that's the move. That's like, what people are talking about.
Kirby
Yes, I agree. I think it has to be that way moving forward. Otherwise it's like, oh, great, more influencers with millions of followers and millions of dollars getting a bunch of free stuff and like posting about it. You know what I mean? Yeah. And yes, there's. There's value and there's something to like, the voyeurism of it all that people do enjoy. And when you see your favorite influencer, like, you want them to thrive. So I total get that. But I do think it's not so much. I. I think the move is you come up with a concept for a house and you build the house around everybody there.
Sarah
Yeah. Yeah.
Kirby
Or there's a theme to why everybody's there. It's not just like they all have over a million followers. It's like they're all on a reality show or they all have like a crazy podcast or whatever it is. You know what I mean?
Sarah
Yeah. One other one that I wanted to mention that I feel like I saw a lot of, of. And we knew some people on this was the Rivian Auto Camp. They had Airstream campsite for influencers and editors. And I just feel like that looked. It looked so cool. I haven't talked to anyone or really watched a lot of content around what it was actually like, but I feel like that was very new and exciting.
Kirby
Yeah. It's like, if you're gonna camp, there's a way to camp too. Yes.
Sarah
Yes.
Kirby
Let's talk about brands who won and wrap this up.
Podcast Host/Announcer
Up.
Sarah
Let's wrap it up, babe.
Kirby
I think Gap in terms of just visuals and like, I saw Gap frickin everywhere, dude.
Sarah
The line was so long.
Kirby
So Gap made some of the official merch for Coachella and there were like two or three Gap setups on the festival grounds. The lines were so, like, there was no way we were waiting in those.
Sarah
I wanted to go in. I saw a girl Wearing a sweatshirt from Gap, and it had the little bear, and he was wearing, like, a little Coachella outfit.
Kirby
Outfit. It was so cute. Yes. So Gap made their presence known. They weren't effing around, I think road. Also, every girl was carrying one of those road bags from the party to be Burchella. The amount of people I saw with the eye patches on after the first night, it was like a flex. It was a flex. If you already had the eye patches or the little mushroom stickers or whatever, it was like. Like signifying, like, oh, you're on a PR list somewhere.
Sarah
Right?
Kirby
So I felt like that was like the. If you know, you know. And of course, like, that ties into Bieber, which Bieber. Like, I mean, they had their own set. Like, so all the. The big headlining artists had their own merch stores on site. And, like, Justin's was just, like, absolutely chaotic. And granted, I don't think the merch was actually, like, cute, but I definitely wanted it.
Sarah
I'm wearing it.
Kirby
I wanted it.
Sarah
I bought it.
Kirby
Like, like, swag. I have that hat, and, like, I think that's the cutest one. I also did buy a shirt that had Haley's face on it. So I was like, I got that
Sarah
one for Laura, and she wore it today.
Kirby
Yes.
Sarah
It's so cute. They sold out on for. Out of a bunch of stuff. I would have bought the sweatshirt.
Kirby
I wanted the black swag hat, but it was sold out. And then the pink swag hat that I got was dirty because somebody had stepped on it, but they were like, this is, like, literally the only one we have left.
Sarah
I was like, okay, clean it up.
Kirby
I'll be washing it. So I think the Biebers really did they. They said, if we're going to be headlining Coachella, we're gonna, like, make sure that everybody knows that we're here. And then this might be a dark horse, but, like, I saw so much Barbie content.
Sarah
I was really surprised that they were activating at Coachella. But to your point, I saw a lot of people posting about it, A
Kirby
lot of people posting about the setup up there. And then also, Olandria partnered with them as Bama Barbie. And so I think, like, people were just so excited about her getting this experience that they were like, okay, we have to support. We have to share. I mean, I just saw so much. It was like, festival Barbie. And this is how you. I'm like, oh, my God. Like, everybody at Coachella is an adult, but Barbie's really making an impact here. You know what I mean?
Sarah
Totally. No, it was everyone. It was just really fun. It felt really fun. And, like, it's, you know, been a while since we've gone to Coachella, and I just felt like it was fun to be around everyone again. Like, you know, live music is the best. Everyone was so excited that Justin Bieber said, I will never forget for the rest of my life. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you, Neutrogena. And also thank you to everyone who fucking works the festival. Like, everyone is just working so hard from everybody. Even just the shuttle people. I'm like, God bless these people.
Kirby
No, everyone. That's like, there. There is a right way to do Coachella. There is also a wrong way. The wrong way is to just, like, be entitled and think that you're entitled to everything and being rude to everybody. And I'm just like. Marina kept saying, like, oh, somebody pushed me, or someone pushed past me. And I was like, babe, we're literally in a crowd of like, a hundred thousand, if not more people. Like, we're gonna be pushed. It's gonna happen. Like, we're gonna touch another human being. You know what I mean? We just have to, like, accept. And for the most part, this is the circumstances.
Sarah
Everyone is pretty friendly, you know? I mean.
Kirby
Yes.
Sarah
Like, it was like, like, hey, are you okay?
Kirby
Sorry.
Sarah
We didn't really see many fights. Maybe like, one or two.
Kirby
We did see one fight during the Bieber. We're like, people were losing their minds. Like, Sabrina was amazing, and obviously that's my girl, so I was, like, the most excited to see her, and she put on an amazing performance, but, like, we had to, like, root. I was like. I was doing, like, high kicks, like, during the performance. We had space to, like, just kind of, like, dick around. But Bieber, I have never felt so claustrophobic. No, we are packed in there like sardines. I literally barely even see anything.
Sarah
No, same. I was watching through the phones in front of me.
Kirby
Same.
Sarah
Laura and I were watching the Strokes, and then we're like, we're gonna sit and we're gonna save space, and Kirby and Marina are gonna meet us. And so the strokes ended at 10. Bieber didn't come on till 11:30. So we were sitting for an hour, 15 minutes with our legs out to, like, kind of save our spot because those. That's what the girls were doing behind us, and everyone was doing that. And then when everyone stood up, it was like, every. Like, no rules, gloves are off, people pushed. And then I didn't think we were going to be able to find you because we had no service. And then by some miracle, you found us and we were able to experience this together. But, oh, my God, I was, like, actively looking, like, where my exit was in case anything happened. I was like, okay, I'm going to jump that fence if anything happens if I get pushed. But it honestly was a very pleasant experience. Once I got over the anxiety of being claustrophobic, it was magical. It was great.
Kirby
And I will say this, if you're ever considering going to Coachella, definitely go at least once. It's such a fun event. Live music is so healing, Grounding and healing, and it brings people together. But also, like, do a little bit of research. Know where you're going to stay. If you're going to be staying not in, like, the Indio area, know that it's going to be a little bit of a drive. You may have to, like, get a parking pass. You may need to hire somebody.
Sarah
You're going to sit in traffic.
Kirby
You're going to be walking a lot. You're going to be hot. You're also going to be cold. You're also going to have dust in your nose and your ears and maybe your eyeballs. Yeah, you may get acne. Cosmetica. If you wear too many products that have too much oil in them. You definitely are not dressing for the festival the way you address for a party. And also, I think that you have to be really hype about the supporting acts over the headliners. I think that if you're like, if you love the headliners, that's great, but, like, you can also probably see these headliners, like, in a better total situation. You have to go in being like, I cannot wait to see so and so on the Mojave stage.
Sarah
Right? Or just, like, walk over to the stage and watch, and then you'll, like, fall in love with a new person. That's, like, my favorite part about Coachella's past is going spending the whole day watching all the bands and the different acts and then learning about some new artists. But this time I could just. My body wouldn't let me do that. So, yeah, we.
Kirby
We have a new way to go to Coachella, and. And it's very different from years past,
Sarah
so maybe, who knows? I said that I would never come back out of retirement. And I say that again, but we'll see.
Kirby
Who would bring you back out of retirement.
Sarah
I said that if Rihanna performed, I'd give Frank Ocean another chance.
Kirby
Who else?
Sarah
If NSYNC decided to come.
Kirby
Listen, they're doing pop music now, so NSync somehow that's not the question. If they could get NSync even on, like, Sahara tent, I would be there. The Heineken stage. Oh, you know what? Actually, Red Bull also did an amazing job. They win the Mojave, the Mirage in front of that stage. David guetta playing for two hours, bringing JLo out. Oh my God, it was so good. It was so good. We had the time of our lives. But yeah, I'm like, it's got to be in sync for me. Or the 1975.
Sarah
Okay, all right.
Kirby
Or Cardi B.
Sarah
Honestly, that'll happen.
