Recent data from the American College of Surgeons shows colorectal cancer is now the leading cause of cancer death for both men and women under 50 in the United States, underscoring the urgent need for research. Our guest today, Norma Flores, a caregiver and advocate who lost her husband to rectal cancer, is traveling to Washington, D.C. this March as an Ambassador with Fight Colorectal Cancer (Fight CRC), the nation’s leading colorectal cancer patient empowerment and advocacy organization. As part of Fight CRC’s annual United in Blue initiative, Flores will join advocates from across the country to meet with members of Congress and demand stronger federal investment in colorectal cancer research and screening.
