A
Oh, my God. The Dune Part 3 trailer. The teaser trailer has dropped mere minutes ago.
B
Yeah.
A
And I'm literally in the process of getting on an airplane. But we figured we would talk through some immediate feelings and share this instant reaction. So tell me where your head's at, dude.
B
It looks so fucking good. And I will say, I want to be clear. It looks great. Every scene looks so sick. The, like, armies fighting each other. Alia on the platform in the white billowing cloth. Oh, my God, it's Saint Alia the knife. Obviously I'm gonna worship her. Like, obviously. Paul with his shaved head is really intense and fun. Duncan's back. Hate, of course, is back. Oh, did you catch Edric in the. In his. In his tall canister.
A
In the canister looking thing? I think so, dude. Yeah.
B
Like art deco. Like, very guild, very navigable again. Looks fucking awesome. It looks so good.
A
Truly.
B
What about you? How do you feel?
A
I already have been geeking out with people in the Gamjibar discord about it. And I posted perhaps preemptively guaranteed masterpiece. That was my feeling after having. After seeing it once. And then I went back and watched again and I was like, I stand by my statement. Guaranteed masterpiece. I agree with you. It looks beautiful. Every frame of that trailer is just a painting. The aesthetic is strong, the vision is strong. The costuming, the sets, they look incredible. I think some of the casting is really powerful. I think Scytale. We got our first look at Scytale, right?
B
Yes. Robert Pattinson, he looks great.
A
Robert Pattinson looking great as Scytale. I think in particular, once again, I am awed and overpowered by the sound design, the chanting that gets louder and louder.
B
And I believe it's right.
A
Paul's voice chanting. So it looks gorgeous. The sound design, the music, the chanting, the cinematography, the costumes, everything looks astonishing. I truly could not be happier. I've only watched it twice so far, so it's hard for me to really pick out. Yes. This two seconds we got was this chapter from the book in this scene?
B
Sure, sure, sure.
A
But my gut instinct, having only watched it twice again, I think my gut instinct is that this teaser trailer, everything we saw was before Stone Burner and probably in the first half or even first third of the movie. I think they're keeping that back half top secret and they want that stone burner scene and the reality of what's gonna happen to Paul's eyes to. To really hit people.
B
Okay, I've got two thoughts. One, I think the blue explosion that throws everybody off their feet. I Think that is the stone burner. Ooh. And two, I suspect, you know that scene where Paul ascends to the top of that little dais and he's looking out on everybody and there's that slope reveal on his face with the scars. I. This is a bold claim. I think that is not the final version. I think that is going to be him with no eyes and just his, like, bandage or the socketless eyes. And I think that what we're seeing is a misdirect and because it felt so purposeful a reveal of his face that unless they're like, for the shadow to. Yeah, yeah, that's my thought.
A
That's a good thought. That's a good thought. Yeah. You know, I mean, bigger movies will definitely do that where they will like, CG something back in or CG something out for the trailer just to hide a huge reveal in the final film itself. That's a great theory.
B
I don't think it's going to happen, but I want to be the one to have said that it's going to happen.
A
There you go. Yeah, it's on the record now. It's on the record in this blurry FaceTime call. That's incredible. Okay. Was there a particular shot from the trailer that just floored you?
B
I think Edric arriving behind Scytale. So the tall pillar of the Spacing Guild Navigator behind Scytale. I think that it looks like they're on Kaiten with the beautiful sunny garden in the background that the Bene Gesserit are staging this meeting place. I love that conspirator subplot, and I'm really excited to see it also. I think so many of us were worried that the navigator would just be straight out of, like, shape of water or.
A
Sure, yeah. Fish man.
B
Yeah, Fish man. From like the, like, what was his name from the Hellboy ones. Abraham.
A
That's right, that's right, that's right.
B
But I think this looks so good and. And I'm excited. I think that got me really excited because it was a reminder. Oh, and then Alia with the flowing white. I think.
A
The flowing white, yeah. Stunning.
B
I think I've struggled to imagine the vastness of. Of the palace that Paul constructs between Dune and Dune Messiah. And I just. From that little glimpse, I feel like we're really going to get a sense of how fucking crazy this religion is. And I'm so excited to see more of that. Oh, and then of course, the line that I've seen other people shout out. Your father never started a War.
A
Oh, come on. So good, so good.
B
Whispered, Guy.
A
Whispered by Jessica.
B
Yeah, Just like you chose this battle, young pup. Dude, what about you? Was there a standout? Now that I listed three, I think, for me.
A
No, no, that's okay. I'm about to list a few too. I think for me, the takeaway is I'm very happy to see what appears to be glimpses, scenes, flashbacks of jihad, of war, of battle, of the Fremen going out and wiping people on planets that maybe, maybe aren't Arrakis. Right. Like, they're. I'm pretty sure there's a scene in the rain where there's an army fighting an army. And I think that's something that's been missing from the books. Like, we do this time jump in the books. We just assume this thing, this horrible thing happened out in the galaxy, and then we are basically left with essentially the aftermath and how it affects Paul and his people in the palace. I'm very excited if what the trailer shows will be in the film. I'm very excited to see more of this horrific jihad, this bloodshed that explodes out across the galaxy. It's a very, like, sort of simpleton, bro answer for you. But I liked the scenes where things went boom. Like, the war scenes were really gorgeous and huge. And we said this about the first two films, but in this film series, Denis Villeneuve knows scale. That team has cracked the code of scale. How to make something look a hundred times more enormous and maybe not even look, but feel. How to make something feel 100 times more enormous than it might actually be. So those were the scenes that. The jihad stuff and the warriors fighting. I'm really excited to see that.
B
You know, it's funny because I think this falls very into Villeneuve's pattern, right? Of we hear about the jihad and the fights and how terrible they were from Othaim and from. From Paul telling Stilgar, hey, look up Genghis Khan and fucking Hitler. You know, like, those are the moments. But that's all tell don't show, right? That's not showing us the blood and the. In the carnage. I think I would be really happy, if you're correct, that most of what we saw is in the first, like, 30 minutes. Because I still. I came away from this trailer still with the concern that so much happens again. We'll come back to this in a longer conversation, for sure. I feel like so much fucking happens in Messiah. I was just talking to Eleanor about it, that where do you bring Chani back to Paul to give her time to even get pregnant and be with kids at the end, unless you're going to tell a very different story. And I'm excited for whatever story Villeneuve tells, but I do love Messiah. And I hope we get to the ending of Messiah where Paul accepts that it's his time to die, walks out into the desert, leaving recently deceased Chani with the two kids. And I want that. So I still have that worry because it still feels it still. When do they get back together?
A
Yeah, the trailer is very much. It felt like it just kept showing the same one shot of Chani over and over again in the trailer. There was no hinting at all with what's going on with her. It was just like a very tight close up shot of her face. So there wasn't even any clues to gather of like, where she's standing or who's behind her sort of thing, or
B
like visions, which felt like, are we going to be seeing this alternative timeline that he's given up? And that whole conversation about Ganima and Leto, like, that whole conversation, I feel like, is a vision. And the question is, does that happen at some point in the movie? Do they? You know, he honors the vision conversation with her after she's given birth. And maybe she gives birth away from him and he comes back to her. But then when did they fuck?
A
When did they have sex? I had a different take. I didn't think that was a very vision. That was just a flash. That was just a scene from like part two, because she's wearing the blue ribbon. They're in the tent. That to me was like just a thing that happened sometime in Part two off screen while the two of them were getting together and fucking, as we know, as we saw in Part two.
B
True, Very true. Yeah.
A
So I don't think that part was a vision, but again, we'd have, I think, like, it'll be exciting to revisit it scene by scene.
B
Yeah.
A
In a deeper breakdown, which will be coming soon, folks.
B
Yeah, yeah.
A
Battling some logistics. I'm traveling and you're in France. And so we gotta figure out when we're gonna sit down and record some of these things. But coming soon, we'll talk more in depth about this trailer and our thoughts on it, some of the lore, tidbits that we're able to glean from what's happening on screen and of course, more of our theories once we have a chance to like really break it down scene by scene. But yeah, I'm excited we're to wrap up, I guess, now that the trailer is out. It makes it feel real. This Movie's coming out December 2026. Where's your height meter at right now? Between zero and stone burner.
B
I might as well be emitting J waves right now. I hope your eyeballs melt because I'm fucking at Stone Burner. All the way. Hundreds of kilometers. Everyone's eyes just melted and they lost vision forever. And now they have to walk out into the desert that I'm clearly surrounded by.
A
That's right.
B
That's where I'm at. What about you?
A
I'm right there with you. That there's two Stone Burners going off. There's more people losing their eyesight for sure. I'm like, Stone Burner. I. I think I've. Gosh, you know, now. Now I have the, like this incredible urge to go back and watch Part one and Part two again and to reread Messiah. I'm like, I know I keep pitching you on rereading Messiah and it's becoming a bit of a bit. But yeah, I. Like, we must. We have to, you know, like. So, yeah, I think the. I think it's back. All the excitement's back. We're at Stone Burner level. I can't wait to talk more about it with you in depth and to continue geeking out about it with our patrons and our fellow audience members in Discord indeed.
B
Yeah, we'll be doing a frame by frame breakdown very soon, so everyone should stay tuned for that. Otherwise, there's plenty of conversations to be had. And for anybody who watched, thanks for watching. Holy shit.
A
That's right.
B
I'm so excited.
A
So exciting. Okay, I gotta go catch a plane. Talk to y' all soon. Talk to you later, Leo. Bye, everyone.
B
Bye. Take care.
