05.17.2026SERMON NOTESThis week we come to the climactic scene that the book of Job has been building toward: the powerful encounter between God and man. Job comes off the bench with a 2–0 victory over the enemy, exhausting rounds of discourse with friends, has his mind renewed for six chapters, and now is about to be humbled, silenced, and transformed by God. Out of the storm God speaks, leading Job through over 80 questions that expose the limits of man and reveal the mysteries of God. As God moves from the visible creation to unseen realities, the message becomes clear: if Job cannot govern creation, how could he comprehend the reality where God dwells? Yet God’s goal is not merely to inform Job, but to reveal Himself. Job moves beyond knowing about God and finally encounters Him. Revelation is God’s invitation to come closer and know Him personally. Beyond the suffering, the sin, and the storm, God wants us to know Him. This is eternal life (John 17:3).You can find this weeks sermon notes and groups guide here:https://gracechurchsp.org/resources/sermon-guidesTo take a deeper dive into this message with Pastor ryan peterson and Dan Lyle, check out our Groups Leader Podcast:https://gracechurchsp.org/resources/group-leader-podcastTo support this ministry and help us continue to reach people all around the world click here: https://www.gracechurchsp.org/giveFill the city with Jesus. May 10, 2026There is a great disparity between the reality God offers us through the Bible and our limited experience of it. He tends to offer life, peace, joy, and a beauty that is unparalleled, or otherworldly. Yet we continue in the slums of this routine we call life, and don’t experience the fullness of what God is inviting us into. Why is that? In Job, chapters 32-37, we see a glimpse of our answer; we have too high a view of self and too low a view of God. Renewing our minds comes from humility. Seeing the Character of God humbles our hearts. This is the great adventure we will take through these six chapters of God’s majesty. Are you ready to enter the mystery and leave with more questions than answers? You can find this weeks sermon notes and groups guide here:https://gracechurchsp.org/resources/sermon-guidesTo take a deeper dive into this message with Pastor ryan peterson and Dan Lyle, check out our Groups Leader Podcast:https://gracechurchsp.org/resources/group-leader-podcastTo support this ministry and help us continue to reach people all around the world click here: https://www.gracechurchsp.org/giveFill the city with Jesus. May 3, 2026We are in our third installment of the book of Job covering the universal, yet unpopular, topic of suffering. Week one we discussed how God uses suffering and week two how we are to respond. This week we will explore the function of suffering. Does God have a design in suffering? Has God made provisions for such difficulties as sin and suffering through our relationship with Jesus? Yes! Suffering is designed through God’s grace to kill sin. When we understand what God is doing in the spiritual reality of our lives through things like suffering, we can submit to His plan and come out completely transformed to be more like Jesus from the inside out. April 26, 2026Becoming Valiant for the Truth: Training for Life’s ChallengesLife involves inevitable challenges, but Christ provides the foundation for overcoming them. Recognizing that TRUTH is the primary battleground of spiritual warfare, we must rely on spiritual training rather than standing firm in our own strength to recognize deceptive philosophies of modern culture. To become “Valiant for the Truth,” we must immerse ourselves in Scripture to renew our minds and depend entirely on the Holy Spirit for strength to prevail in knowing the TRUTH.You can find this weeks sermon notes and groups guide here:https://gracechurchsp.org/resources/sermon-guidesTo take a deeper dive into this message with Pastor ryan peterson and Dan Lyle, check out our Groups Leader Podcast:https://gracechurchsp.org/resources/group-leader-podcastTo support this ministry and help us continue to reach people all around the world click here: https://www.gracechurchsp.org/giveFill the city with Jesus. April 19, 2026Suffering is the shared language of humanity—never chosen, always felt. In this series, we look at Job, a man acquainted with its depths, to understand what pain reveals in our lives. Suffering is not random but should be viewed through the lens of God’s sovereignty. Difficulty is not an obstacle to be avoided, but rather an opportunity to better understand God’s character. Both joy and loss pass through God’s goodness—not to destroy us, but to strip away what is false, dismantle the old, and reveal who we truly are. Suffering, then, is not wasted; it renews the mind, strengthens the soul, and prepares us for what’s ahead. And when we see this clearly, we don’t just endure it—we rejoice in God through it.You can find this weeks sermon notes and groups guide here:https://gracechurchsp.org/resources/sermon-guidesTo take a deeper dive into this message with Pastor ryan peterson and Dan Lyle, check out our Groups Leader Podcast:https://gracechurchsp.org/resources/group-leader-podcastTo support this ministry and help us continue to reach people all around the world click here: https://www.gracechurchsp.org/giveFill the city with Jesus. April 12, 2026There are certainly common experiences that we are all guaranteed to walk through in life. One we do not choose, but somehow finds all of us is suffering. If life is consistent about one thing, it’s delivering hard circumstances for us to walk through. The prevailing question, especially as disciples of Jesus, is, “Where is God in suffering?” In addition, a series of questions often arises as we face adversity: Why does God allow this? Why am I going through it? What am I supposed to do with suffering? Is this part of God’s plan for me? There are thousands of others, but no matter the question, when we think of suffering, humanity, and God’s involvement, we are drawn to the book of Job. For the next few weeks, we will look at how God orchestrates every detail of our lives for our good as we read through the book of Job together. Through suffering, we are being prepared for transformation—if our minds become renewed. April 05, 2026Once a year, people across America pack the church. For many, it’s a glorious day of crowds, beautiful outfits, full stomachs, and busy calendars. But for Jesus, seeing His Church filled is a reminder,“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21 We are not tasked with filling seats, but with the more difficult privilege of filling our hearts with Truth. That Truth is a person, and He sets us free. Not everyone is willing to have their hearts open, transparent, and vulnerable before God, living in true authenticity. That’s the call in Luke 7: the woman who came to Jesus, pouring out not only an alabaster jar of perfume but her whole life to experience the love of God in His forgiveness. We ALL must answer the question regarding Jesus – Who is this? Our answer determines our eternity. March 29, 2026This week as we prepare our hearts for the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection, we’ll pull from three stories within the last week of Jesus’ ministry prior to the crucifixion: The Donkey, The Journey, and The Decision. From these stories we get an amazing perspective on the person of Jesus and how people respond to Him. March 22, 2026What is success according to God’s Word? Our culture is always attempting to define and redefine what success is. For some it is wealth, others popularity, others climbing the corporate ladder, and yet others it fame or what they create. Jesus teaches us with the example of his life what true success is—He loved unconditionally. 1 Corinthians 13 gives us a clear picture of what that unconditional or “Agape” love is. God looks at our Agape resume as a true measure of success. March 15, 2026The Church is filled with so many different people. All of us are at different points in our faith and seasons of life; we are walking through different things and facing different challenges. However, the Word calls us to consider putting the interests of others above our own. When others are rejoicing, we are instructed to rejoice with them. If they are suffering, be with them in their suffering. For when one suffers, we all suffer, and when one member rejoices, we should join in. At any point, there are two groups in our family: those who rejoice and those who weep. Jude offers us some direction on what to do if we are struggling, to contend for the faith against the lies that subtly creep in, to remember who God is and what He has done, to hate sin, and to strengthen ourselves in the LORD through worship and prayer.
