When I meet kids and grownups who listen to Grim, Grim or Grimmest, one of the first questions I get asked is, how do you do those recordings? Where do you do those recordings? And then the third question, or sometimes the second and even sometimes the first, is, how do I get on one of those recordings? So I'm going to pull back the curtain a little bit and tell you about how it works. And then if you stick around to the end of this, I'm going to tell you how you could be on one very, very soon. There are three ways that we record Grim, Grimmer Grimmest episodes. The first way is I go into a school, and those schools have always been in New York City because I live in New York, and so it's easier for me to record a whole season at one of those schools. Usually one school is in Brooklyn, and then the other school might be in Staten island or Manhattan somewhere else, and I'll go there. And I go five times, and I record two stories each time I'm there, and then I go to another school the next day. If I've been in Brooklyn on Wednesday, for example, I'll go to Staten island on Thursday, record the same two stories. That way we've got two recordings with two different groups of kids for every story. And then when I come home to edit them, I can choose, you know, my favorite moments from each recording and blend them together to make the episode. And that's how we'll make 10 episodes of a season. Now, during the pandemic, it was a little different. I was recording them from home because we couldn't be in schools. And then we opened it up to all the fans of Grim Grimmer Grimace, no matter where they lived in the world. And a bunch of people joined me on zooms for those recordings. That's seasons three and four. You can hear it when you're listening. It says like, I'm joining the session now. Boop, boop, boop. Those are the episodes that I recorded from home. The third way that we record these episodes is, is with live events. We're just starting this as a brand new thing and what we'll do there is we have a live event somewhere in the world. The first one was in Brooklyn a little while ago because again, where I live and a bunch of kids show up with their parents, I tell a story and then I pass the microphone around when I have a question or when some kid has a question. And then again I choose my favorite moments and we put those on an episode. One of those is going to be coming out soon. If you've wanted to be on one of these episodes, your first opportunity to do that is coming up on May 17th. We are going to be recording a new episode of Grim grimmer grimmest on May 17, like two weeks from now. It's going to be at the Museum of Science and Technology in Syracuse. It's part of the Storytelling with Children Festival. It's an all day thing, but we're going first thing in the morning. You can show up at 9:30 and get things signed and meet me. And then at 10:30 we are recording a new episode of Grim Grimmer Grimmest and you can be part of it. So we're going to put how you get tickets in the description or you can search Storytelling with Children Festival, May 17, Syracuse at the Museum of Science and Technology. I am really excited to meet new people, hear new voices and get to meet some of my favorite fans in person. So if you are anywhere near Syracuse or even farther away and you want to be on an episode, come and join us May 17th in Syracuse to record a new episode of Grim Grimmer Grimmest live. I hope to see you there.
