Charlie Kirk was shot from range in the neck in front of thousands of people, including children, which becomes important in the. In the trial. And many of these people had their phones out, right, Filming the. The spectacle that is turning point USA's prove me wrong tour. So within seconds of the shooting, maybe like 7, 8, 9 angles of the shooting were all over social media. We've talked about it. You could not avoid it.

I think it's one of the only, if not the only, novel about a war written by a woman. Like, Front Lines war. And. And it is graphic. It is gory, but it is. If the perpetrator intentionally selected their victim based on specific traits, vulnerabilities, or protected characteristics. It sounds like a hate crime, but, like, is he a protract? Is Charlie Kirk a protected class?

Okay, so then the Utah state prosecutors announced that they are going to be also seeking the death penalty in this case, which still exists in Utah. And. Thank you. Thank you, David. Because he targeted Kirk for his political expression and because he acted knowing children would witness the assassination. So again, like, that's what he wanted.

Okay, so last week was the preliminary hearing, which is what we're going to talk about today. And this is the point of this is for the prosecution to present their case and see if they have enough evidence for an actual criminal trial. It's like a probable cause hearing. So the prosecution presents evidence and witnesses and the defense tries to cross examine and make, make it so there won't be a criminal trial, essentially. And the defense can call their own witnesses, but it's usually pretty limited in this case. Defense called like a ton, as if it was like a trial. And the prosecution stood up and was like, this isn't the trial. And they like issued a standing objection to be like, we need to fucking move this along.

Back to the marker of Charlie Kirk. Where are we? Okay, so we're talking about Tyler Robinson's backstory and how he grew up pretty conservative. Obviously, Mormon in Utah doesn't get a lot more conservative than that. But his family did say that his political views started to shift in recent years, obviously, as he got older, went away to school. This is, I think, a reason why Turning Point USA targets colleges, because God forbid you start seeing different kinds of people. Right. And learning about different people and maybe more about yourself. They want to kind of nip that in the bud as soon as you're away from your conservative parents. And apparently, he was specifically becoming more supportive of queer rights, like gay and transgender rights. And this is probably because he fell in love. Luna Twigs, referred to in court documents as Lance Twigs, was Tyler Robinson's roommate first, but then quickly became. I'm not Charlie. Tyler's. Tyler's roommate quickly became Tyler's partner. They shared an apartment, and we will see some of the Lance slash Luna's testimony in just a few moments. They turned over Twigs, turned over some pretty damning text messages between them and Tyler and also identified them like on the FBI website. It's. It's not. It's not looking great. It. And it definitely seems like there's enough evidence for a criminal trial at this point. So let's get into the actual testimonies. We have 1, 2, 3. We're looking at three of the different testimonies today that I thought were the highlights. Obviously, there's so much footage. There's so much to. To scrape through.

So he goes up on campus, visits the amphitheater area, the courtyard, then he comes back. And then what do we see here?

Now he returns on foot back to the same vehicle.

It was like 9:24am and he's back at his car within a minute. The FBI agent says that he made contact with a Turning Point USA rep once he left the parking garage. So maybe he got spooked or something, but it was literally like a Like a. A minute.

The FBI agent, from what I saw, didn't say. The evidence that they're presenting is going to be limited because it's just to prove probable cause. So there's stuff that's been redacted. They're holding stuff back for trial. We'll see that also in Twigs's testimony because there are, like, big parts that are blacked out. So it's.

If you're gonna drive for hours to go do a kill like this, I just don't understand how you don't spend a night in a motel screwing a scope onto a rifle and like in the movie, some sort of ritual. So there were Discord messages. There was a group chat message. And we. Where is it? We do have that. Oh, here. Here we go. These are the messages that he sent. Allegedly sent to the group chat September 10th. Okay, so this. These are other people. A zealous monkey, 55095, was apparently Tyler. So the friends say Charlie Kirk got shot dead half an hour later. And then 440. I just saw the video. Holy rip. I guess bro didn't deserve to go out like that. Sad. So all that happens. And then there was also. There was another bit here. Let me see if I can find the other bit. Okay. At some point between that final admission, he also says, all right, so someone tagged his name on Discord. One of the people in the chat tagged his name on Discord and said, where you at? With a skull emoji? Because they had started to see the photos coming out of the suspect, and they were like, that looks like our boy Tyler. So in a joking way, they were like, yo, is this you? And Tyler apparently replied within a minute that it was his doppelganger trying to get him in trouble. So at first, he tried to, like, laugh it off and try to hide it. And then someone said jokingly, tyler killed Charlie.

[Harley]

That's so crazy. Like, wait, that's. He's like, actually, what happened?

[David]

He did, right? Like, they're just living in this. This world of irony right? Online. And no, your friend really did really did allegedly kill someone. And so. All right, so then we get that evening or the next night. This is the next night. Before he turned himself in, he says, hey, guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at UVU yesterday. I'm sorry for all of this. I'm surrendering through a sheriff friend in a few moments. Thanks for all the good times and laughs. You've all been so amazing. Thank you all for everything. So this happened the next night, but the same all right, so. All right, so the Discord conversation starts. They think the guy looks like Tyler. Tyler makes a joke, then he goes quiet on Discord at 11pm At 11pm, Twigs, the partner, gets an automated message from Tyler. This was a message that he had apparently scheduled earlier and then thought better of it but forgot to delete it. Now, before that, you can see they're having a normal conversation. 7pm that still work for you? Yep. I love you, says Tyler. I love you too. Hope work's going well. And then I love you. Mwah, mwah. I love you, Morzes. Mwah, mwah, mwah. Okay. Loving each other. This was Wednesday at 4:33pm can you look up if it was it a Wednesday that he was killed on? We have like one computer. Can someone check that? Because that evening, I think this is the same evening he gets this automated message that says, drop what you are doing.

Look under my September 10th.

[David]

Okay. Yeah. So this is the only contact he got. And it was two hours after the shooting. He just got I love you, mwah, mwah, mwah. And then Twigs responded. They responded. And then later that night he gets this message, or they get this message. Sorry about the pronouns.

And Twig says, what? You're joking, right? And then Tyler says, I tried to delete that.

[Harley]

Oh, that was the automated text message.

[David]

Yeah, this one here was automated to go off apparently at 11pm so the note that was under the keyboard was accidentally leaked in during the hearing and they had to have a whole conversation about it. And the judge had to do like a follow up ruling on whether or not the media was going to be allowed to take pictures and video of evidence. And they kind of reconfirmed that it wasn't supposed to go out to the. Some of it was not supposed to go out to the public. This was a total accident. And they only caught like a couple frames and then the camera person, you know, spun away. But of course, people. People took it, took pictures of it. So it says Luna. Twigs is preferred name. Luna. If you are reading this, pet. Oh, no. If you are reading this per my text, then I am so sorry. I left the house this morning on a mission and set an auto text. I am likely dead or facing a lengthy prison sentence. I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I took it. I don't know if I will slash have succeeded, but I had hoped to make it home to you. I wish we could have lived in. And who knows what the rest of it says? Maybe a different world. We don't need to speculate, but. So this is what Twigs found under the keyboard at 11 o' clock the same night that Charlie Kirk was killed. And then we have their text messages back and forth after that. So we have this one that says, I am still okay, my love. This is all coming from Tyler. I am still okay, my love, but am stuck in Orem for a little while longer yet. Orem? Was the name or the town that was listed on that where he was killed?

Yes. Thank you. Thank you, Charlie. And when we saw the surveillance video from the press conference, it said that was in Orem, Utah. So I'm guessing that's like where the sheriff's offices. Shouldn't be long until I can come home. That feels like you're not going home. What are you talking about? But I got to grab my rifle still, to be honest, I had hoped to keep this secret till I died of old age. Well, you were really sloppy, so that was never going to happen. I am sorry to involve you. These sound completely natural. These sound like normal text messages. I mean, given the circumstances. But to me, it's just. This is just really what happened. This guy is so stupid.
