Jeff continues down the road of peace and forgiveness. Once I did, I immediately felt a sense of peace that I hadn't felt in a long time. After meeting with my legal team and reviewing all of the relevant information, it became clear to me that I had been miscommunicated to by a former team member who no longer works for me. I learned that David's company had, in fact offered and provided insurance coverage. Coverage via my initial medical bills totaling approximately $110,000, along with an additional 41,000 in medical expenses that David paid out of pocket without pushback. This information was not properly communicated to me before the lawsuit was filed. David helped cover my medical costs, and now we have clear communication moving forward regarding future coverage as well. I want to apologize for the confusion this situation created publicly. And more than anything, I'm grateful to finally leave this chapter in the past. Some things take a lot out of you privately, and I'm just happy to move forward now, focus on the future, and put my energy into the people and things I love. Thank you to everyone who supported me through some of the darkest moments of my life. Your support genuinely helped carry me through. This was a little bit shocking to read. Yeah, I'm super excited. Thank you so much for creating time for me to share a little bit about the work that we're doing in California. I'm not able to see you guys on my end. I'm not sure why, but if you guys could see me, then that's.

Okay. Yes. Yeah. So. Oh, now I see you guys. Okay, perfect. Oh, so I'm just, you know, I'm super excited. And it's. This is, like, very deeply personal to me. Close to home. I grew up in Fresno, California, and lived there from the time I was 3 until 11 years old. And for 2026, we were myself in the coalition to end child marriage. We felt so defeated. We really didn't think that we had a chance for California this year. The reason why is because it's already later in the year and we were not able to find a politician to co author our bill. And so for that reason, it goes nowhere. However, literally, it was a miracle because we had a assembly member, which is a lawmaker in Sacramento. Right. And they were able to find a loophole where they took a bill that has an active number and was put to the side or tossed out, but still good active. And so they were able to take that bill and basically just amend it to. In child marriage. 1818. No exception. And now it's going to be brought down to the floor to be voted on.

[Ethan Klein]

So it's for sure getting voted on.

[Kate]

Yes, it's on the schedule to be voted on.

So we will. I mean, I have. I mean, Listen, how's that not pass?

No, like, really, like, how does that not pass? Like, what is the justification anyone would have to vote against that?

[Kate]

I, I mean, like, you know, sometimes I think that people are fearful that, you know, they don't want to attack religion or culture. But at the end of the day, we are here to protect the children. And, and that's the most important. There's just too much nonsense going on. Right. When it comes to protecting children, it should be very simple. It's just protecting children. It costs nothing. It hurts no one. But there are so many regulations and hoops that we have to jump through to be able to pass these bills. And so I'm just so grateful that someone realized or heard of the issue and they're taking their best efforts to try to help us on their end, you know, because as a normal, as the public, we can only do so much. And coming from a survivor side of things, it's so hard for us, you know, survivors. Right. Trying to make sure that we make time for these things, drop everything when we find out that there's a. The bill is going to be brought down. Right. And I want to talk a little bit more about 2024, because in 2024, there was a House bill in California to end child marriage. And I flew there in February to support the bill. We lobbied for two days. And how lobbying works is that we have appointments with politicians every 30 minutes from like basically 10 in the morning until 3 or 4 in the afternoon. And as we were stopping by all their offices and meeting with them, we basically tell our survivor story. We provide the supporting data that was done by Unchained to let them know that this is an issue and there is supporting data and hope that they would co author the bill. Right. But a lot of them would get stuck on maybe their sponsors or their schedule is too busy right now and they can't help. And so this time around, things are looking better because I was also notified by the coalition that Planned Parenthood is hands off this time.

Why would Planned Parenthood be against this?

[Kate]

You know, I, I don't. It's more so a gender thing and they, they just didn't want a gender thing. Yeah, I, I really is that it's hard for me to speak on their on time heritage behalf, but from what I know, it's just that they work so hard to put a lot of rules in place and laws in place to protect women. Right. And they don't want anything to mess with that. How does this mess with that it really doesn't. Right.

So I feel like they need to explain themselves.

Well, I guess they came to the

conclusion that it doesn't anymore. Or am I wrong in saying that?

[Kate]

That's what, that's what I was told, that this time around for AB 1267, the House bill that's going to be brought to the floor in a week or two, Planned Parenthood is. Is hands off.

[Ethan Klein]

That's good. How about they endorse it?

[Kate]

Yes. Yeah.

Well, what, what, what, what, what are we doing here? How is this not at the top of everyone's to do list?

[Kate]

Exactly, exactly. You know, everybody's very busy with whatever project they're working on or what, which bills they're trying to pass. But there's a huge population here in America of children being sold into child marriage. Right. And a lot of times they hide behind the banner of culture, tradition, but at the end of the day, it's a child that's under 18 that needs our protection. You know, and in 2024, it was, it was very heartbreaking for myself and the other survivors and everybody who participated in that movement in2024 for California. Because when the night before the bill was supposed to be brought to the floor to be voted on. Right. So, yeah, the night before they trashed the bill, they just tossed it out.

Why? Do you know why?

[Kate]

Well, they. Well, they just said that, you know, there's not enough really support. And also there's other bills that are more priority. And so it really takes.

[Ethan Klein]

How could it be higher priority than this?

[Kate]

Exactly, exactly. And that's the thing is that, like, with survivors, we've already gone through so much hardship in our life. Right. And so now if you. We have to find time to come forward, share our story, do all this and that voluntarily without, like, without any type of financial support, it's really hard. If I didn't, if I didn't work for myself, right, I would not be able to drop everything and move my schedule around to be present for this, you know, to testify, to write supporting letters, to share on my platform. So that way my community knows. Right. And so that's the reason why H3 coming into helping us in child marriage has. Has just been such a blessing, you know, because you guys really do have the network to connect with such a variety of audience. Right. And also, at the end of the day, majority of human beings who are, who are good people want to do good things. Right? But how can they help if they don't know? You know, so getting the word out there was super important for us.

[Ethan Klein]

We were all shocked to learn that when you first told us. But since you bring that up, now's a good time to kind of on your Instagram, you give instructions for how people can write letters to make sure this bill, it doesn't get tossed again. We're, you know, we got, let's, let's, let's all come together here. If you live in California and like to support AB 1267, you can submit your own letter of support through the California Legislation position letter portal. So here's the URL, which we'll put in the description. It's calcislation.cl.ca.gov It's a mouthful, but you, you could click it in the description or in chat right now, go to submit letter and then search for and select AB 1267. And then I'm assuming you just indicate that you are submitting as an individual. Select state Judiciary committee, choose support as your position. Oh, that's it. You just, that's it. Oh, thank you. I appreciate that. I. When I started thinking about that, well, when I started my advocacy work in 2023, right. That's when I learned about ending child marriage and all that good stuff. It's been mentioned to me before, but it's just scary, you know, because someone like me who was in a child marriage from the time I was 12 until 23, I lived in a box, right. And so it was like a prison. And I didn't really have my own identity, my own v. Own voice, my own freedom. I didn't have any of that. And so when I escaped my child marriage at age 23, that was 2009. Right. And so July 11th. Right. That's going to be my 17 year anniversary since I escaped my child marriage. And in the. Yeah, in the past 17 years, like, so much life has happened, you know, Like, I can honestly say that I'm really proud of myself and the life that I built for myself and my kids and my privacy is very important to me. And not only that, but like, I struggle with PTSD as well. So sometimes it's like, some days you're good, some days you're not good. Right. And I, I feel like I've, I've, I've. I've gotten a good hold on it. Right. But for sure, doing my advocacy work and everything the past three years, going on four, I'm always surprised by, like, how I get triggered still, but I'm doing better. So. So that's the reason why I don't know if I really want a pub, like an extremely public and politician role like that. But it's something to, you know, think about and it's definitely a compliment, you know, So I appreciate that.

And it makes me so happy to know now that like people know my story and in some crazy way like it gives me healing because it's like my inner child, you know, my inner 12 year old child that is like understands now that like she's being heard and it wasn't okay what happened to me, you know, but it happened. And I can't change the past, but I can change the now, you know, in the present. Right, by sharing my story. And so thank you so much for that because all the support that I get from everybody means a lot to me, truly.

Yes, it's more so they don't want to bring any type of negativity to the Hmong community. But this is abuse, right? This is children being abused.

Well, listen, it's not an easy choice for someone to make, to choose to go the route of advocacy against their own community, knowing that it would cause you to, and by some people be, you know, outcast. So I think it makes what you're doing all the braver. And it's, I mean, obviously it's the right thing to do 100%.

That's how I feel. I strongly feel that this is really my life's work. It's just funny because when you're younger you always think like, oh, what am I gonna do when I'm old, right? After I sent a cease and desist, I was like, well, that doesn't seem genuine. Right. And so I believe it was two days ago it happened.

Yeah. So that Ian put out this video and I'll say on his main channel, which immediately I thought was very, was very good that he was willing to, to stand on it on his main channel. Obviously his biggest loudspeaker.

And so I thought that was good. I thought that was a nice gesture to put it here and let's hear his apology and see if it is genuine or whack. I thought it was genuine and I'm, I'm. I am working with my attorneys now to drop the lawsuit against Ian Bridge. And he. Oh, he pinned the comment too. That was nice of him. That was very kind of him to do that. Here's the video.

I am going to be talking about a very important and heavy topic for me. If you're unfamiliar with the context of any of this, I'll give you a brief rundown. But that is not the main purpose of this video. I do think it's important to share a little bit of my side of the story, but I, I don't want to take away from the purpose of this video and that is to apologize to Ethan Klein and his family, especially his kids. Basically, Ethan is suing me for having rebroadcasted a statement made by Destiny on my stream. I did display the very disgusting comment for 40 minutes and it was wrong.

It was a comment from Destiny and I even said that I don't agree with it, but sort of highlights how I knew that it was, it was a wrong thing to put out there into the universe. Universe and show people. You know, regardless of the point I was making, it was Wrong. I was angry, I think.

So far, so good. I. I'm. I'm. I'm feeling that. I like the. I like the admission he's made here. If I was still suing it, that would be a problem for him. But I'm not. I mean, he's. But I'm not. Right. That'd be pretty wild if I was just like, psych. And now I'm adding this to the complaint. No, I was being totally. I was being genuine with him, and I was being genuine with Noah Sampson, too, when I. When I said the same thing. And maybe we can come to an agreement with him. I don't know. Yeah.

And I was like, how do I get this guy to, one, not clip me, not mock me and harass me on his live stream? And two, this guy's a fucking bully. I don't. I'm angry. I'm angry that this multimillionaire is silencing people and suing people, people who are. Who have a much smaller audience than he does and, you know, can barely defend themselves. And so I'm angry. I don't like bullies. So I wanted to do something that would have an impact and. And, you know, without checking in with myself of whether or not.

So a lot of people had a problem with this part, they're like, what kind of apology is this if you're just going to be saying stuff like this? But my perspective on this was I actually don't care about any of this stuff he's saying now because that was this. What. Listen, what he just said, I've argued against a million times, and I've explained how it's wrong. That's not why I'm suing him. And he's free to say that stuff. You know what I mean? The problem I had was the statement about my kids, which is the one he's apologizing for. So that's what I'm listening to. He's allowed to say he thinks I'm a bully, and he thinks that I'm harassing people and whatever, yada, yada, that's fine. Right? If that's all he ever said, then there would never be a lawsuit, and it's his right to say that. So I personally saw this, and I don't care at all, or I'm not offended at all that he included it. It's completely fine. And listen, he wants to make it clear he's not retracting everything he said about me. He's not, like, switching up 180. He was just saying this went too far. And that was my point as well. Right. So we can continue to disagree on those points.

That was a right or wrong thing to do. I justified it in my head at the time. I was like, okay, well, it's not my words, and it's actually said by a really bad guy. Destiny, Not a fan of that guy. It's very clear that it was never the right thing to do. It was a comment about Ethan and his children, and it was disgusting. I said at the time in the stream that I don't agree with it, but still, sharing it and broadcasting it to people for 40 minutes, that was an irresponsible, responsible, and reckless thing to do.

Yeah, nice. I appreciate what he's saying here. And again, he's posted on his main channel. I mean, I'm not really complaining about anything. Feels like a nice, genuine apology. And by the way, I should say we did not discuss this at all between our lawyers or each other. This he made of his own volition, without any guarantees from me or my attorneys that we would drop the lawsuit. So I think that's worth stating as well. This is kind of what I. I wish.
