They're like, sing that song you. That you guys always sing.
A
We're together Now. People are surprised when we're not. That it's rare.
D
It's been a while since we sang it.
A
Yeah. What do you think May's up to right now? I was.
D
That is so funny you said that. I was just thinking about that when we started this episode. I was like, I wonder where BAE is. Is. Is me on a vacation? Because they posted some kind of pretty picture. Let me look.
A
I think May might be in Banff. Oh.
D
Because there was a picture that little cowboy posted.
A
Okay.
D
A gorgeous. Oh, yeah, it looks. That looks like bamf.
A
Banff. I believe it's in Canada.
D
I believe they're in Canada. Do you think May's thinking about us?
E
Always.
D
Always thinking. Waiting for time to freeze so that we can all hang out.
A
Yes. That's corre. That is correct.
D
That's right.
A
Will you check my Instagram page, see how that's.
D
Yeah. Let's see what's going on with yours page. I'm sure you're being missed right now.
A
Yeah.
D
Because you're on your social hiatus, so it's fluff, isn't it? Fluff something. The real fluff.
A
Notaro.
D
That's right. Why is it not coming up?
A
Because I canceled it.
D
Oh. Oh. Like, it's not even.
A
It's not even there.
D
Oh. I thought you just like, it was there, but you just weren't posting.
A
No, it went bye bye.
D
Oh, well, how am I supposed to look at pictures?
A
You're not.
D
So this was a trick. You had me on my phone for a good solid 30 seconds.
A
Yeah. Yeah. And you don't have that kind of time to. I don't have that kind of time, no. Yeah. Had you looking up.
D
I was like, let's see, what. Where is it? Why isn't it coming up?
A
It. It went bye bye.
D
Yeah. All right. Well, I'm sure people are, like, wondering what you're up to.
A
Well, then they just have to listen to Handsome Pod. And then you see my face on Handsome YouTube and Hublu and who Blue who Blew?
D
Is that what it's called?
A
Who Blew?
D
Who Blue, Who Blew?
A
What else am I on the handsome social media?
D
Tr. True. I just had six pints of ice cream delivered to my house. Are you jealous?
A
Yes.
D
There's some sorbets in there. Those are vegan, right?
A
Yeah. Sorbet is just fine to me. I'm not like, oh, my Lord, give me all your sorbet. Sorbets. Yeah. Yeah.
D
Well, you're welcome to come over for some sorbet anytime you want.
A
I'd rather a vegan ice cream.
D
Oh, okay.
A
That's fair. I like coffee ice cream, mint chocolate chip. I like. God, we are meant to be. We just. Bad timing, you know? It's the worst.
D
Good. Good timing for me, bad for you.
A
Yeah, yeah.
D
Just our stars are not aligned. Then that's okay.
A
Yeah. Yeah.
D
I'm digging into some Jenny's ice cream. This isn't an ad. I just got six pints of it and I'm pretty pumped to put them in my mouth hole.
A
And so you're gonna have all six pints as soon as we finish your time.
D
Yes. Like, what was it? Home alone 2 where you had the big Sunday.
A
I love that you think I've seen.
D
I'm talking too. Oh, man, serious pop culture references over here.
A
I just saw Home Alone last Christmas.
D
That's wild.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
D
Well, in it he. I think homeowned twos, he gets lost, left in New York or something at the fancy hotel.
A
Okay. Is it as good as Home Alone?
D
Oh, no, Home on one is a classic.
A
I dated a lady that's in one of the Home Alone movies.
D
Braggart. Who did she play? Do you remember?
A
I don't know what she played.
D
Okay. Most sequels aren't as good. Except for Sister Act 2.
A
Okay.
D
Incredible.
A
Okay, I. I am reading. Which one she's in. And I'm reading what she does in it. But I'm not telling you who she is.
D
Okay, fine.
A
Okay.
D
She's in the second one. You know people who are in things. Good for you.
A
No, why are you saying she's in the second one? We're trying to keep it top secret.
D
She's in the first one.
A
Why are you saying she's in the first one? We're trying to keep it in the third one.
D
Is there a third Fortune?
A
Don't say that. She's in the third one. We trying to keep this top secret.
D
Is there a fourth one?
A
Don't tell people she's in the fourth one. This is top, top secret.
D
Then I'll stop talking about it and we'll just get to our questions so we don't blow up your spot.
A
Give it to us, Thomas. Give it to us. There are six Home Alone Movies, by the way.
D
For real.
A
There are six don't tell people she's in the sixth one.
D
I didn't know there was six. I thought there were two.
A
A lot of them are, like, straight to video.
D
And it starred Macaulay Culkin.
B
No.
D
Oh, that's. I was about to say, like kids. He just went two, right?
F
Yeah.
D
Okay. I met him because I filmed with his wife. And he's. They're both lovely, but.
A
But wasn't he in the movie Zootopia?
D
Yeah, they both were. He and Brenda were two of the lynxes. But in the movie they play brother sister.
A
All right, give us a question. Yes. Yes.
F
Hey, Tigme and Fortune. My name is Angela. I'm a private chef in Maryland. Lately I've been experimenting with nostalgic desserts from our childhood. And I would love to ask you. What was something you loved to eat for dessert when you were a kid? It could be something someone used to bake for you. Or something as simple as what you ate in the lunchroom at school.
A
Oh, well, I mean, we've just opened this episode up with six pints of ice.
D
I didn't even know this question was coming. Oh, I've got a. I'm gonna look up this one thing. I used to love you. You can go ahead while I'm.
A
Well, thank you. Thank you.
D
I'll be listening and googling.
A
You know, the first thing that pops up. Which I just had at the delicious vegan restaurant Crossroads here in Los Angeles. But I don't think I was eating the vegan version back in my Mississippi Texas days. Yeah, I do enjoy banana pudding. Or is it like. Like with the pudding and banana and then vanilla wafer kind of thing in there. Yeah.
D
I love banana pudding.
A
I love you too. And so I just. The vegan version is just as delicious. Really, if you head on down to Crossroads.
D
Yeah.
A
Mm. So good.
D
That's a definitely. That's definitely a classic for sure. Yeah, I. I had different. I have always had a sweet tooth. So desserts were my jam growing up. If I was like at school. And on Fridays they had ice cream day where you could bring money to school and buy ice cream from their ice cream freezer. You know, it was only like a dollar or something. Sure. Well, I lived for that day. Lived for it. And my go to back then was the push up.
E
The.
D
Do you remember this?
A
Oh, orange. The orange.
D
The orange. So that have been sherbert. You just take off the top. The little plastic thing.
A
Fortunately, isn't it?
E
Sure.
D
But there's no extra in it.
A
No, I think it's sherbet.
D
I said. I've always said sherbert. My bad.
A
I used to as well. And then I learned my lesson and I've never gotten used to it. But I have to correct everyone.
D
It doesn't sound as good.
A
I know. Well, especially because we know people named Bert.
D
Yeah.
A
It just makes more sense to say, sure, Bert. You know. Sure bet.
D
So that was my go to school dessert. My. When I got into high school, there was. I loved Baskin Robbins mint chocolate chip ice cream. That was the bomb. Because this was, you know, pre. Like artisan ice cream days. There was no fancy. Right. Ice cream situation.
A
Ben and Jerry's kind of cracked that world open.
D
Yeah. First one. Yeah. That was considered probably the fancy ice cream back then. And then they had something called. This is what I had to Google. They had something that they sold in the freezer section of the grocery store. And it was super popular. I think it was. This came around in the late 8 or sometime in the 80s. It's called a Viennetta and it's a little ice. It's like a little ice cream cake. And it has like ridges and there. There's certain listeners, I know they're listening right now going, oh, my God, I totally forgot about this thing. There was like a chocolate version and a mint version and a vanilla version. It was so good. And it was. I'm reading on here. It was invented by a food scientist and it said it.
A
Scientists.
D
That's what this says. It says. It became a global icon of nostalgic dessert sophistication. So it was like back then considered like this fancy thing.
A
Yeah.
D
Now it's not a fancy at all, but that thing was so good.
A
Yeah.
D
And it kind of blew minds as like. Like early day ice cream cakes.
A
Okay.
D
Yummy. Love it. Does Angela have a nostalgic?
A
I bet she does.
D
By the way, anyone that can cook for a living, that's an unbelievable skill.
A
Angela, I think Fortune just asked you out.
D
No. Now
F
my answer is the Good Humor Strawberry shortcake ice cream bars. I used to dip them in chocolate in between bites.
G
It was.
D
Oh.
F
Always my go to. But thank you so much. Thanks for always helping me keep it handsome in the kitchen.
A
Yeah, thanks, Angela. And I'll have to try that sometime.
D
Good Humor. That was the early days. Oh, my friend was real fancy. They had. Is it Swan Swanson. I don't know which one it was. Delivered them ice cream, like, bars and stuff. And I was like, they are fancy.
C
Checking Allstate first could save you hundreds on car insurance. Not checking. You have time to play a game. When I get a group of friends together, we all lose. I know not all my co hosts agree, but I love a game. And now I'm sad I missed an opportunity when I had people over last night.
B
Yeah. Checking first is handsome. So check Allstate first for an auto quote. It could save you hundreds. You're in good hands with Allstate. Potential savings vary, subject to terms, conditions and availability. Allstate North American Insurance Company and affiliates, Northbrook, Illinois.
A
That's like my. My friends Max and Finn's godparents get fresh almond milk delivered by the almond milk milkman to their door.
D
I didn't know there was such a service.
A
I didn't either, but they're just like that. It's classic them in la or. Well, when they. When they were here full time. Yeah. Which they're not.
D
Yeah.
A
Anymore. But I was like, wow, I want that. Okay, well, I'm sure you can hook it up.
D
Okay.
A
What else we got on the diket? Can't stop me.
D
Hey, Hansa.
E
This is Emma and Kat, and we are submitting our question from Grand Teton national park, which is perhaps the gayest of the national parks. And we are two friends who like to do road trips together.
G
So we were wondering, if the three of you were to plan a road trip together, what types of activities would you do and what would some of your stops be? And we're not going to ask who's driving, because we know it's going to be fortune.
D
That's right. We know this. I think that we have this on the list. One of our bazillion things on the list for us to do was a road trip. And I do believe in that discussion. We already did decide I would be driving.
A
Yeah. Because May probably isn't great at driving.
D
I think May's in the back seat too.
A
Yeah. And I can't see very well.
G
Yeah.
D
So you're definitely not driving. I feel like May is in the back seat. And is the one of the group getting us to play car games.
A
Oh, God.
D
That was a genuine reaction to the car games.
A
Well, because I immediately pictured myself in the car. Car. And then somebody chiming in. Let's play a game. And then I was like, oh, Jesus. Let's just roll on to our destination in silence. Yeah. No chatting. I like.
D
Okay.
A
Talking. Listening to music, but I don't want the music too loud.
D
Okay.
A
You know, I'm 55. I'm old enough to be in a retirement community, so let's not forget this. I'm old enough for free sodas. Mm.
D
I think I'm pretty good on a road trip because I am pretty easygoing. It doesn't take a lot to ruffle my feathers. I love snacks. Like, stopping for snacks is a huge part of my road tripping.
A
Yeah.
D
I like sort of discovering little local restaurants along the way.
A
Yeah.
D
I don't mind just, like, staring out a window or chatting.
A
I can do May and I start fighting in the car. Are you going to turn around and, like, swat us?
D
No, I would just be like, guys, let's talk the cells for yourself. What's up?
A
Okay.
D
Or I would. Or I would team up with one of y' all and tease the other.
A
Okay. And then to that. I remember when I was moving from Colorado to Californ, my friends and I, we pulled over to get, you know, snacks before we got out of Denver. Yeah. And we finished all our snacks before we got out of Denver. I mean, truly before we.
D
It.
A
It's like when you're watching the commercials at a movie theater, when you finish all your snacks before the movie starts. That's what happened. We were laughing so hard that we were already finished, and we hadn't even left Denver yet.
D
That's hilarious.
A
Yeah.
D
The only thing I am a little particular about on a road trip.
A
Coffee. You have to have your coffee. Yeah.
D
You know me so well, so I will. Whatever town we're in.
A
Yeah.
D
I'm gonna be Googling, like, best coffee near me.
A
You're gonna Google it up.
D
I'm gonna Google it up. And usually they. A couple of coffee shops Pop up. And I can most of the time tell by the pictures that have been posted of that coffee whether or not I'm gonna like it. If there's some sort of latte art. That's usually. Not that I even order a latte, but that's usually where I'm going.
A
Yeah.
D
Because if they have the skill to do a latte art.
A
Yeah.
D
It's pretty decent coffee. But if I see a picture of, like, 40 syrups in the background.
A
Yeah.
D
I'm not gonna like it.
A
Yeah, yeah. I'm. I'm on your side because they're masking. Yes.
D
The coffee with these horrendous syrups.
A
I like a snobby. A fancy coffee shop.
D
Me too. Yeah. And that's the only time I want snobby. I don't normally want snobby, but the coffee shop's the only place you're allowed to be mean to me.
A
Mean to you?
D
Yeah. Because usually the mean coffee shops have the best coffee. I don't know why. It's scientifically proven.
A
Yeah. Yeah.
D
There's snobs.
A
They're little buttholes. Yeah.
D
Don't enjoy talking to them. Yeah. You heard me.
A
I sure did. And I did not appreciate it. Do not say that again.
D
I. I will say it. They're little buttholes. Oh, she said it again. And they'll treat you poorly. But then you'll get a taste of that coffee and you'll be like, okay, well, this was worth that, dude.
A
Oh, they should call the coffee shop treat me poorly. And then they show you pouring coffee.
D
That's a good one.
A
Yeah. Who wants to invest in our coffee shop? So May is not a part of.
D
Sorry.
A
May lost out on this deal. Yeah. Treat me. Treat you poorly.
D
Treat you poorly. Yeah. I mean, if you. Listen, if you're lucky enough to find a great coffee shop with nice people, amazing. But some of the. Usually the ones with the best ones.
A
You gotta go in and deal with the abuse. It's worth it. There is nothing worse than, like, being on the road and having a. A fancy. What you hope is the fanciest coffee in the area delivered to your hotel. And it is not. Enrage me.
D
Yeah.
A
Should we hear what Emma and Kat have to say? Let's do it.
G
So our answer is that we like to hit coffee shops, go on hikes, and explore lots of cities.
E
And so for our last road trip, we went from the Bay area of California up to Lopez island off the coast of Washington, up north of Seattle.
G
And our favorite stop was hiking in Fern Canyon, which is up in the redwoods.
E
Love it.
D
I've never been in the redwoods. Well, California. California.
A
Why don't we just hang up and
D
you head out on a road trip, so. No, I want someone with me on a road trip.
A
I'll go.
D
Oh, then you can stop in the Buc ee's.
A
Stop. I don't know. I don't like Buc EE's. Buc EE's is fine. I just don't like all the hype around BUC EE's. It irritates me.
C
God.
D
Why?
A
Because it's like, who cares? It's like they have. They have bathrooms, they have snacks. Who cares? Who cares?
D
They're known for having very nice, clean bathrooms. Just so you know.
A
Good. But get a life.
D
Okay, so we're not gonna find you in a buc ee's filming content?
A
No.
D
God, what a shocker. You're not into Buc EE's.
A
Buc EE's is perfectly great and fine, but you're not gonna find me other than right now talking about BUC EE's.
D
Well, you didn't strike me as their demographic. Truth be told, it's a bunch of. Also, number one, you're a vegan. That's primarily why I don't think you're going there.
A
Oreos are vegan. I'll take.
D
They have rows and rows of beef jerky. They're known for, like brisket.
A
Grab what you want and cork it.
D
I don't want to hear about it. Cork it on your Buc EE's.
A
Truly get a life.
D
Okay, You heard it here first.
A
It's the same I. I think I've talked about on here. It's the same with, like, those ice cream yogurt donut places that all become popular. Everyone's talking about them. Everyone has to go get them. Cork it.
D
Cork it.
A
Grab your thing and get out and enjoy it and live your life and cork it.
D
Cork it.
A
Okay, what do we have coming up? We have shows, don't we? I mean, we're comedians, right? We're out on the road doing things, telling people stuff. And I don't know, I'm going to be in Rochester, New York. Omaha, Oklahoma City, Cincinnati, Charleston, West Virginia. And the list goes on tignotaro.com. what about you?
D
I'll be in August. And West Hampton Beach, New York. Foxwood, Connecticut. Red Bank, New Jersey. Halifax, Canada. Provincetown, Mass. Greenville, S.C. wilmington, N.C. and a bunch of other places coming up.
A
That's right. And until next time, I mean, keep it pretty handsome.
