friends on the Handsome Pod Pretty little episode.
Tig Notaro
Hello.
Fortune Feimster
Hello.
Tig Notaro
Hi, Fortune. It's Tig. Tig, how are you?
Fortune Feimster
I'm great.
Tig Notaro
You look good.
Fortune Feimster
Do you want to introduce everyone?
Tig Notaro
Yeah, this is the Joe Rogan Experience. Is that what his show is called, the Joe Rogan Experience?
Fortune Feimster
I believe so, yeah. Okay.
Tig Notaro
Yeah. So that's a real curveball. People didn't realize they were subscribed.
Fortune Feimster
Sounds like an NPR show.
Allstate Announcer
Hello.
Fortune Feimster
Well, welcome, welcome.
Tig Notaro
That's right. Hi.
Fortune Feimster
We're just hanging out. Do you want me to say welcome to the Handsome Pods preload episode?
Tig Notaro
Oh, yes. That's what we were missing.
Fortune Feimster
That's Tig over there.
Tig Notaro
That's Fortune over there. What if Joe Rogan had pretty little
Fortune Feimster
episodes all of a sudden?
Tig Notaro
Yeah, I don't think his listeners would be into pretty little episodes.
Fortune Feimster
I don't think so.
Tig Notaro
No, I don't either. Where are you? Are you home?
Fortune Feimster
I'm home in la. Yeah. This was a rare weekend at home, but I was film filming right now, so.
Tig Notaro
Oh, how's that going?
Fortune Feimster
It's going really good.
Tig Notaro
Good.
Fortune Feimster
It's a whirling dervish because it's a. A big movie and they're. That they're doing in two months and the four of us are in, like, almost every scene, so it's every day. It's just like so many pages and lots of. It's one. One of the few projects I've had where there's very little downtime. You know, normally in movies you're like, sitting around forever and.
Tig Notaro
Yeah.
Fortune Feimster
Waiting on things to get set up. And lights is. This one moves.
Tig Notaro
Yeah. Well, you're one of the stars of it, right? So that would make you busier.
Fortune Feimster
That's true. Yeah, that too.
Tig Notaro
Yeah.
Fortune Feimster
But also our director is Eva Longoria and she is very, very prepared in a like, very. Like, she knows what she wants. Exactly.
Tig Notaro
Yeah. So that's great. Yeah. Well, cool.
Fortune Feimster
It's a lot of girl power.
Tig Notaro
Yes. You gotta have that. You can't make movies without Girl power.
Fortune Feimster
That's right. Well, it's funny because the golf show I just did was a lot of dudes.
Tig Notaro
Sure.
Fortune Feimster
It was very man heavy. And this one's all late. A lot of ladies, so.
Tig Notaro
Man power.
Fortune Feimster
Kim gave us some skin care.
Tig Notaro
I thought she looked good.
Fortune Feimster
Thank you. Some skin care machines for our pretty skin. And some skims loungewear. So, you know, I'm just. I'm being my most pretty little lady self on this shoot that I ever have.
Tig Notaro
And what are face machines?
Fortune Feimster
Like, remember my vibrator for my face?
Tig Notaro
Fortune.
Fortune Feimster
Remember Fortune.
Tig Notaro
Fortune.
Fortune Feimster
It's like something like this, but way more high tech.
Tig Notaro
Okay.
Fortune Feimster
Okay. And it's got lights and things. And you put it on your face.
Tig Notaro
Did you show that to Kim and was she like, girl.
Fortune Feimster
No, no. She didn't even know I had anything.
Tig Notaro
Oh, okay.
Fortune Feimster
But she discovered this machine that she was really into. Yeah, I mean, you know, there's all those. It's just like you roll. You roll your face with them. I don't know.
Tig Notaro
You roll your face with.
Fortune Feimster
I've got to actually YouTube how to use. How to use this.
Tig Notaro
Maybe Kim can do a YouTube video.
Fortune Feimster
She did tell us to let her know if we needed her to show
Tig Notaro
us how to work it.
Fortune Feimster
And I think it actually would be pretty hilarious to have her showing me how to use beauty care machines.
Tig Notaro
And you didn't stop her and say, you mean work it and then start working it?
Fortune Feimster
That's right. It's the.
Tig Notaro
Wait, tell me, you getting a question from Kim?
Fortune Feimster
I will work my way up to that. I'm still getting to know her.
Tig Notaro
It sounds like. No, I don't.
Fortune Feimster
I don't like to ask right off the bat, you know, I like to.
Tig Notaro
I like to work.
Fortune Feimster
Work my way there.
Tig Notaro
Ease into the sequel.
Fortune Feimster
Uhhuh. Yeah.
Tig Notaro
You're going to ask her for the sequel, Is that right? Or the prequel.
Fortune Feimster
Exactly.
Tig Notaro
Is there a. Is there room for a prequel to this movie?
Fortune Feimster
Maybe. Yeah.
Tig Notaro
Okay. Yeah, there's a prequel to everything. There should be a handsome prequel. Ooh, who would that be? Who would play us? Yeah, Young version.
Fortune Feimster
There. There is a young version of me in this movie. It's kind of a trip.
Tig Notaro
Who is it? Anyone I know?
Fortune Feimster
No.
Tig Notaro
Oh, how like young.
Fortune Feimster
Young. Like, I think like 6, 15 or something, maybe.
Tig Notaro
That is adorable.
Fortune Feimster
I know. Yours would be someone who looks like you and Tom Cruise.
Tig Notaro
Yeah. Who is that? Who are the young versions of the three of us? That's a really interesting.
Fortune Feimster
I'd be curious to hear young Sheldon.
Tig Notaro
For me. For me.
Fortune Feimster
Yeah.
Tig Notaro
That is Hilarious. Because the guy, Ian who plays him, his mother showed me a picture of Ian where everyone thought Ian looked like Tom Cruise.
Fortune Feimster
See?
Tig Notaro
Wow, you're onto something. Okay, so wrong gender, but okay, so Ian. And then
Fortune Feimster
just throw some glasses on
Tig Notaro
Also, by the way, it just dawned on me. It was the wrong gender. I was like, okay, yeah, Ian could play young Tig. Okay. And then who is a young you?
Fortune Feimster
I don't know.
Tig Notaro
Who's a young man?
Fortune Feimster
May. A young May would be. I don't know who the young actors are right now.
Tig Notaro
Could it be Thomas?
Fortune Feimster
Thomas without the year. Younger than May. I know that's. We need someone younger because this would be like, what, early 20s? Late?
Tig Notaro
Or maybe we get a male handsome.
Fortune Feimster
Yeah, whatever.
Tig Notaro
We can figure this out later.
Fortune Feimster
Mine would be Chunk from the Goonies.
Tig Notaro
Thomas could be a young me since he has the mustache. That's true.
Fortune Feimster
Do rock a good fake mustache.
Tig Notaro
It's not fake. Fortune. Have you been touring a lot?
Fortune Feimster
No, I had to unfortunately reschedule a bunch of shows because of this movie.
Tig Notaro
But you. You've been touring on the weekends?
Fortune Feimster
I did do a weekend of shows. Valentine's weekend, because those. They. The movie gave me the okay to do those.
Tig Notaro
Yeah.
Fortune Feimster
And then I'll do San Diego in early March because I can drive down there. But then my tour will resume the beginning of April.
Tig Notaro
Love it.
Fortune Feimster
And then I'll be on the path to trying to get ready to film another special back, like late fall.
Tig Notaro
Okay. And then I'm going to be recovering, hopefully from my eyelid surgery.
Fortune Feimster
That's right.
Tig Notaro
Right after the Oscar's. And that I'll be taking several weeks off. I mean, you know, hopefully I can do things like podcast, but I'm not going to wear torn. Just wear sunglasses. Yeah, yeah, we won't care. And real mustaches.
Fortune Feimster
That's right. Well, I love it.
Tig Notaro
I love you, too. Should we get into our questions?
Fortune Feimster
Let's do it.
Corinne (Listener)
Hi, handsome pod. My name is Corinne and I am from Houston, Texas. So last year was pretty rough for me and for a lot of people around me. So this year I decided to start being more intentional about experiencing and creating joy every single day. A lot of my friends have asked for examples of ways to do this. So my question for each of you is, what are some ways that you intentionally bring joy into your life or some ways that you would like to.
Fortune Feimster
Corinne, Good question. It is definitely the time to try to wrangle up some joy.
Tig Notaro
Right? Mm.
Fortune Feimster
We need some joy wrangling. Well, I mean, last year was rough for Me as well, so.
Tig Notaro
I get you.
Fortune Feimster
I get you, girl. I think for me, when I was really going through it, especially the earlier part of last year, I started to. Can reconnect with friends more. I started reaching out to people more, and that was really nice. That was a good way to, like, just stay connected and not isolate. And that helps me stay in a better mood. And I would also, like, if I was. Just had a lot of thoughts on my mind. We talked about four. I would go find a bench somewhere, like in a park sometimes. I had my dog with me. That was really nice. So we would just sit there chilling and, you know, kind of people watching and just sort of, like, not on my phone sort of being. And. And just trying to just appreciate things a little bit and not get too sucked into the thoughts of things not going well. Breakfast burritos helped. Love those.
Tig Notaro
That's good. Mm.
Fortune Feimster
What about you, Tay?
Tig Notaro
I mean, you know, I had a real awakening, I think, when I was working on the documentary and I was living in Toronto, I was away from my family. I just started to really feel like, gosh, what am I choosing to do with my time here while I'm watching a friend want for every last second.
Fortune Feimster
Right.
Tig Notaro
And then how. And I know I've talked about it on the podcast, but how to find that balance of, like, working and doing these things I want to do.
Fortune Feimster
Yeah.
Tig Notaro
But also really prioritizing my number one focus, which is Stephanie and the boys and our little kitty city. And so I think that. I mean, I hate to sound cheesy, but I can't pretend like it's anything other than this. But when I get to go hang out with Stephanie and the boys and just taking a walk through our little village in our neighborhood and going to eat or the bookstore. We also do reading time at the end of the day where everyone reads for, like, 15 minutes and then talks about.
Fortune Feimster
Yeah.
Tig Notaro
What they read. Those little moments. I just am. And then. I know I've talked about this, but even in the mornings when Stephanie and I have our coffee and then we take our morning walk together, those are the things that I desperately missed when I was gone all the time. And the level of joy that those. And, you know, funny enough, in the documentary, Andrea has a poem called the Little Things. But that is what it is. It is those little tiny things that, like, you're saying, sitting on a bench.
Fortune Feimster
Yeah.
Tig Notaro
Spending time with your dog or your mother or whoever it is, calling your friends. I really, you know, it's. That's what it is. Like Utter joy. Utter joy. And in those hangout moments, getting to experience our son's silliness. You know, Max does incredible impressions, and we all sit around and he does impersonations of friends of theirs, friends of ours, people from tv. And so that's just really, really fun to just sit and laugh and connect with everyone. Like, just the best. And a pile of kitties lying around, you know, And a cute little Pomeranian. Yeah, yeah.
Fortune Feimster
Yeah.
Allstate Announcer 2
Checking Allstate first could save you hundreds on car insurance. That's smart. Not packing my headphones when I go on the road. Now I'm on the airplane unwillingly overhearing a conversation about toenail fungus.
Allstate Announcer
Yeah, checking first is smart. So check Allstate first for a quote that could save you hundreds. You're in good hands with Allstate. Potential savings vary, subject to terms, conditions and availability. Allstate North American Insurance Company and affiliates, Northbrook, Illinois.
Tig Notaro
But man, listen to or read Andrea's poem, the Little Things. I think it. It really puts some stuff into perspective.
Fortune Feimster
Yeah. Well, I think in general, too, like my. My mom being. Getting sick right when my life was falling apart really put, like, all of that into perspective too. Like.
Tig Notaro
Yeah.
Fortune Feimster
I was, like, so sad for so long and just everything was just kind of like spiraling and then she got sick, like, right at the same time my relationship was coming to an end.
Tig Notaro
Yeah.
Fortune Feimster
And it just kind of put me in this other orbit. Yeah. I was just like, okay, you gotta. You only have so much time with people.
Tig Notaro
Yeah.
Fortune Feimster
Like, let's. Let's not wallow in. In the. In the bad stuff.
Allstate Announcer 2
Let's.
Fortune Feimster
Let's focus on time together and good things and. Yeah.
Tig Notaro
Yeah.
Fortune Feimster
That stuff definitely puts things in perspective.
Tig Notaro
Yeah. There's so many little celebratory moments you can have in your day to day that I highly recommend getting into.
Fortune Feimster
Yeah. And also jams. Putting on some music.
Tig Notaro
Also jams, like grape jams.
Fortune Feimster
Also jams, as in jellies. Yeah. Like, use those shoulder shimmies. For sure.
Tig Notaro
Yeah. Yeah, that's what. That's what we think. Does Corinne have an answer?
Fortune Feimster
Let's hear what Corinne said.
Tig Notaro
Yeah.
Corinne (Listener)
Every morning I have a mandatory five minute dance party. I have committed to trying one brand new thing every month. And I have been documenting my journey of trying 50 new hot dogs, which is my favorite food, to share that joy with the world.
Fortune Feimster
Okay, thanks.
Corinne (Listener)
Love you all and love the podcast.
Tig Notaro
50 new hot dogs.
Fortune Feimster
50 new hot dogs. All right.
Tig Notaro
I mean, how does she just casually say that? Like, we're gonna, you know, just like yeah, of course. You gotta try 50 new hot dogs. I didn't know there were more than five hot dogs.
Fortune Feimster
I mean, different places, I think, like, whatever.
Tig Notaro
I. I would assume you're buying the same five different hot dogs at different restaurants.
Fortune Feimster
They're just making them different. I like that she has a dance party.
Tig Notaro
Yeah.
Fortune Feimster
Do you know what also puts me in a good mood? Oh, you want to guess? Okay.
Tig Notaro
No, no, no. I don't need to spend time guessing. What is it?
Fortune Feimster
Pink fuzzy slippers.
Tig Notaro
That feels like it could go to the same tune as big chunky scissors.
Fortune Feimster
I forgot how that tune goes. The big chunky scissors.
Tig Notaro
Yeah. So let's do it with slippers.
Fortune Feimster
Big fuzzy pink slippers. I got my big pink fuzzy slippers on. We're going to have some fun. Did you purchase those for.
Tig Notaro
No.
Fortune Feimster
Did.
Tig Notaro
Did you purchase those for yourself or did somebody say. I know what she. No.
Fortune Feimster
This was from Kim Kardashian.
Tig Notaro
Okay.
Fortune Feimster
These are skims.
Tig Notaro
Oh.
Fortune Feimster
Big pink fuzzy slippers.
Tig Notaro
And do they only come in pink?
Fortune Feimster
I don't know, but I am wearing them.
Tig Notaro
She trying to fem you up?
Fortune Feimster
Yeah. I'm a real femme now. Yeah.
Tig Notaro
Yeah. I shuffle around silently in our house and slippers and terrify Stephanie with every turn because she does not hear me.
Fortune Feimster
They're like. They're like.
Tig Notaro
I did not want to draw attention to how big. I can't believe how big. I mean, you. How dare Kim make a slipper that big. Pink.
Fortune Feimster
It's clown. It's like clown shoe slippers.
Tig Notaro
It should be army fatigue design rather than pink.
Fortune Feimster
It's pretty funny. But I live by myself, so who cares?
Tig Notaro
Yeah, nobody cares. Next question.
Sarah (Listener)
Hey, handsomes. My name is Sarah. I am originally from Vancouver. I'm actually Calgary, but I lived in Vancouver for a long time in Canada. And I actually live in San Francisco right now. And my 30th birthday is at the end of February, and I'm going with my new husband, which is very exciting. And we're going to go to la, which I've never been to before. And since all three of you live in la, I was wondering if you had any recommendations. We're going for basically a long weekend. Yeah, please, please send them my way. I'd love to hear it. And thanks. Love you guys and love the pod.
Tig Notaro
Love you too.
Fortune Feimster
I got my LA hat on.
Tig Notaro
You really do. And you got your big pink slippers.
Fortune Feimster
Well, did Sarah say when she was coming?
Tig Notaro
Well, at the end of February. If you would pay attention to, like, right now. Huh? And if Sarah.
Fortune Feimster
I hope she gets this in time.
Tig Notaro
Even spends half a second listening to this podcast. She would know. My number one recommendation is. What?
Fortune Feimster
Hold on. Oh, wait.
Tig Notaro
Mm.
Fortune Feimster
Your number one recommendation would be.
Tig Notaro
Number one.
Fortune Feimster
Number one would be.
Tig Notaro
I've said it many times, and clearly you and Sarah don't listen to the podcast.
Fortune Feimster
What is it?
Tig Notaro
Do you want me to tell you
Fortune Feimster
to go to Largo for a show? To go to the beach, to go to a vegan restaurant?
Tig Notaro
Sure, all of those things. But number one is go the hop on, hop off bus.
Fortune Feimster
Oh, that's right. You love those. Just like my mom.
Tig Notaro
I love them. And you can laugh at me all you want, but guess who loves them now? Stephanie and our little cubs. Because it's a great way to see the city. It's so great. Especially if you have a few days, get on that top of the double decker. There's no roof and somebody just drives you around. And you have the option to plug in headphones to hear the history of the town and the, you know, sites that you're passing. Or don't put them on at all and just chill and have a peek
Fortune Feimster
and enjoy the ride.
Tig Notaro
And then you'll see. Oh, I want to get back to that area. Oh, I like this spot. I want to. This looks cute. And then you take little notes and you go back. Huh? So that's what I suggest. Sarah, for the millionth time, that is
Fortune Feimster
actually a great suggestion, because LA is massive. It is a big city and it's very spread out. So a bus would not be a bad way to hit the hot spots. No. So, yeah, I think Tig's suggestion is great. It's the correct answer if you're a hiking person. A lot of people love Fryman Canyon. No, not Fryman. That's more for local Griffith. Either Griffith park hike or Laurel. Is it Laurel Canyon?
Tig Notaro
Runyon Canyon.
Fortune Feimster
Runyon. Runyon.
Tig Notaro
No, no, no. Go to Griffith park, and then after your hike, go to the Trails Cafe and get the vegan sandwich. Oh, my Lord. Oh, my Lord.
Fortune Feimster
That is a good suggestion. LA is a big hiking city, so, yeah, a hike. If you're an outdoorsy kind of gal, the beach is always great. Hermosa beach is really beautiful. That's a little bit more of a drive, but Santa Monica is the closest one. What else? We have lots of entertainment out here you can go to. If you want to see, like, Largo always has good comedians.
Tig Notaro
Dynasty. Typewriter.
Fortune Feimster
Typewriter. If you want a bigger. They have, like, you know, the sports teams. If you're into sports. There's so many different sports teams here. There's a lot to do. Actually.
Tig Notaro
There really is. Sarah.
Fortune Feimster
You're.
Tig Notaro
You're gonna be fine. You're gonna be just fine.
Fortune Feimster
Hopefully we got that to you just in time. Hopefully you're on the plane right now headed to LA listening to this.
Tig Notaro
Hopefully you're on the hop on, hop off bus right now listening to this. Now the rest of you people listening, please submit your questions and Advice requests to speakpipe.com Handsome Pod all right, and also check out my tour dates on tignotaro.com I have local LA shows as well as other nationwide tour dates. Also apologies, some have been canceled or rescheduled, but hang in there with me.
Fortune Feimster
That's right. Same here. I'm on tour San Diego in a couple weeks and then the rest of my tour starts back up in April and all those dates will be that I had to reschedule. I'll be getting to and it'll be so fun. But we appreciate you guys. And until next time, keep it pretty. Handsome

They tackle listener questions ranging from intentional acts of joy to tips for visiting Los Angeles, weaving in stories from their work, friendships, and family. As always, the episode is laced with warmth, tangents, and the kind of silliness listeners have come to love.
Corinne from Houston asks:

The episode is upbeat and thoughtful, focused on gratitude, simple pleasures, and practical joy in challenging times.
