Welcome to happy Wife, happy life.
Kendall Alandra
We're your host. I'm Kendall Landra.
Jordan Myrick
And I'm Jordan Myrick.
Kendall Alandra
And we are too incredibly unqualified but
Jordan Myrick
deeply in love comedians who are here to help you with all things relationships. And on today's episode, we're answering your questions.
Kendall Alandra
Well, don't get too comfortable, Jordan.
Jordan Myrick
I'm using the table as a leg rest. My back's bothering me.
Kendall Alandra
Oh, my God.
Jordan Myrick
You guys know my back's.
Kendall Alandra
No, I don't think they don't know
Jordan Myrick
my back's bothering me.
Kendall Alandra
So. Jordan.
Jordan Myrick
Oh, my God.
Kendall Alandra
I was gonna get it. I was gonna get divorce papers served to me after this. Jordan. What? Can I tell them what happened?
Jordan Myrick
Yeah.
Kendall Alandra
I realize as I'm telling it, it's a little personal, isn't it?
Jordan Myrick
That's anything Kendall's like, can I tell him about the nasty thing you did? Is it okay if I tell him I already brought it up and told half the story. Is it okay if I tell him
Kendall Alandra
Jordan was putting on underwear? We all do it. Don't make a face. We all do it. We all put on underwear. Jordan's putting on her little. Her little undies. And she.
Jordan Myrick
Don't condescend to me.
Kendall Alandra
She threw out her back. And I have, knock on wood, never thrown out my back. But I have heard. I know. It is, like breaking your back. It's, like, crazy. It's probably not breaking your back, but it's like, you can't move. So I come in, and Jordan's in all this pain, and she's like, I can't move. I can't move. You need to put me on the bed. So I, like, lay on the bed, but her underwear is halfway on, so it's just, like, around her thighs. And I couldn't stop laughing. And then it was making Jordan laugh, and then Jordan. But it hurt to laugh.
Jordan Myrick
It was so bad to laugh. And then Kendall kept going, well, you are getting older. I was like, I'm gonna shoot you with a Gun.
Kendall Alandra
Well, you are. And I've been telling you, we need to be doing stretches. We need to be strengthening.
Jordan Myrick
What do you mean? I do stretches and I strengthen.
Kendall Alandra
Not daily, honey.
Jordan Myrick
What do you mean?
Kendall Alandra
You don't know I'm with you when you're doing secret stretching sessions that I'm not privy to.
Jordan Myrick
Shut up. I hate you. I'm doing stretching all the time.
Kendall Alandra
How's your back doing, though?
Jordan Myrick
Now it's hurting a little bit, so I'm putting my legs up.
Kendall Alandra
I'm sorry.
Jordan Myrick
Does it look cool?
Kendall Alandra
Yeah.
Jordan Myrick
My feet aren't on the table. The table's so cool.
Kendall Alandra
No, but the bottom of your Crocs are disgusting.
Jordan Myrick
Okay, fine, I'll take them off. Are you happy?
Kendall Alandra
Yeah. Trying to get a better look at the feet.
Jordan Myrick
You love my feet, Kendall.
Kendall Alandra
And I go, no, no, I don't actually.
Jordan Myrick
I actually shouldn't say what I'm gonna say.
Kendall Alandra
No, go ahead. Come on now.
Jordan Myrick
I shouldn't say what I'm gonna say it.
Kendall Alandra
I know what you're gonna say.
Jordan Myrick
What?
Kendall Alandra
Well, I feel like I shouldn't say because it's more personal for you.
Jordan Myrick
Well, it's really personal for you.
Kendall Alandra
No, it's not.
Jordan Myrick
We don't. It's a stalemate. No, we'll keep it to ourselves.
Kendall Alandra
Okay? Yeah.
Jordan Myrick
Literally.
Kendall Alandra
What is happening? Just read the next. Read the question. Okay. We'll move on. We're not talking anymore.
Jordan Myrick
Read the questions.
Kendall Alandra
We're getting straight to the questions.
Jordan Myrick
We're getting straight to the question.
Kendall Alandra
If you don't wanna talk about the footstep. We're getting straight to the question.
Jordan Myrick
Say that if you don't talk about the foot stuff, but Kendall and I will. Kendall, I will talk and joke a lot about footstep. And then now my entire for you page on every social media platform is footstep. And I've sent you all the videos. I'm sending you all the videos.
Kendall Alandra
I don't ever watch what you send me. I'm. I know. I'm bad about that. I seriously, she is so nasty. No, it's actually really sad.
Jordan Myrick
She is sometimes go to Jordan and
Kendall Alandra
I's TikTok chat, and it's like thousands over course of months of Jordan sending me videos, and I never watched them. I need to be better about it. So you've been just sending me feet pictures?
Jordan Myrick
I like to have my feet massaged. So we joke about footstuff. And because of that, now my whole for your page. I'm trying to find the ones that I've sent you. Hold On. Hold on, I'll just read them to you. I can't believe you're not watching.
Kendall Alandra
Yeah, your pictures will love to see this. We'll love to see what the foot videos you have.
Jordan Myrick
I'm gonna tell them what they say.
Kendall Alandra
Do you know that I got a message.
Jordan Myrick
You are pissing me off.
Kendall Alandra
I got a message from my cousin the other day. She was like, I just want to let you know I didn't show you this. It's so funny. My mom, God bless her, she posted so much, so many photos of us on Facebook in a way that was absolutely, honestly, scary. Every second of my life is documented on there. And there's a photo I clearly took of myself. I took of my own feet when I was like seven that I just. At the river I took. I did like a photo shoot of my feet and my cousin was like, I just want to let you know these are on your mom's face. And I was like, damn, why are there so many? I took like. You know when you're a kid, you get a hold of a camera and you just like, take pictures that you. That are stupid.
Jordan Myrick
Yeah.
Kendall Alandra
There's so many of my feet.
Jordan Myrick
And why did you ask your mom to take those off?
Kendall Alandra
I don't want to. I don't want him to take. I don't want.
Jordan Myrick
Please ask your mom to take those off.
Kendall Alandra
No, my feet, they. They were like my 12 year old feet, they. They will never look that good. I'm keeping them up the same way I feel. I've told you about my nudes. I took a lot of nudes at 18.
Jordan Myrick
Stop saying this. You're asking people to release your nudes and I would prefer my dad doesn't see them.
Kendall Alandra
Just stop asking for my now. No, I don't want those out there. But my nudes at 18, I looked awesome.
Jordan Myrick
So I'm getting served things like, here's a picture of a man wearing a shirt that says, my girlfriend has the hottest and most iconic feet.
Kendall Alandra
I did see that.
Jordan Myrick
Here's a joke thing that says, quote, I think we got off to the wrong foot, end quote. Well, hold them both together and get me on a guy who. It's a video of a guy being arrested and it says if asking for feet pics becomes illegal, it's a picture of a guy in a suit and the text over it says, I hate when girls are like, would you still love me if I was a caterpillar? Of course I would. Caterpillars have 100ft.
Kendall Alandra
I'm sorry. So you've been searching stuff about feet.
Jordan Myrick
No, I'm not.
Kendall Alandra
There is no way that many footage stuff is coming up.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
It is.
Jordan Myrick
I think it's because one came because I'm always trying to get Kendall to massage my feet and stuff. So I think one I tried to. What are you looking at? The K? Why are you doing a side eye to the camera? Why are you doing a side eye to the camera? Just continue. I have beautiful feet and I think you should want to massage my feet. Sorry.
Kendall Alandra
Well, and this is. This is what it is. Jordan has. I'm not a kid. Well, I don't wanna. This is all so such a tightrope to walk because I'm not trying to encourage people, but Jordan's feet are crazy. Like, they're good. I'm not even kidding. Like your feet. No, but you know, you've said this.
Jordan Myrick
I have beautiful feet.
Kendall Alandra
It's so objectively. It's not even sexual. It's so objective. I've said it to your mom. I'm like, you've seen your daughter's feet, right?
Jordan Myrick
Like, yeah, I have beautiful.
Kendall Alandra
My feet, I feel like, are pretty normal. Check them out on Facebook.
Jordan Myrick
Yeah, check them out on my mom's Facebook down by the river.
Kendall Alandra
They're fine. But your feet are so good. They make me insecure. So I like kind of keep mine covered.
Jordan Myrick
Sure. And your feet are great too. But I have beautiful feet.
Kendall Alandra
Not right now. Because I did one of these masks. They should be putting this on a billboard. If you make those masks, it's for foot, for hydrating. But then they don't tell you they're the feet. They're the foot mass that make your skin peel off in three days.
Jordan Myrick
Kendall did baby foot on accident.
Kendall Alandra
I thought I was dying.
Jordan Myrick
She has no more skin on her feet.
Kendall Alandra
Scared. Anyway, sorry. Continue. Your feet are beautiful.
Jordan Myrick
I have beautiful feet. I think they should be rubbed. Sorry. That's my truth. And. But I think because like, I Probably one time, you know, your phone hears everything you say. And then probably one time it served me like a funny shirt about feet. And then I sent it to you and it was like, oh, she likes this. So now if you go to my. Which like, also, who's looking at their for you page on Instagram? No one.
Kendall Alandra
No.
Jordan Myrick
So I think they're also just like,
Kendall Alandra
well, you seem to be looking well now.
Jordan Myrick
I am because I think it's funny. Don't you think those foot things are funny?
Kendall Alandra
No, I think those. I think hyper specific shirts are really funny.
Jordan Myrick
I think they're so Funny.
Kendall Alandra
It's, like, the most millennial thing about me.
Jordan Myrick
Sorry, I don't think it's millennial. I actually. Babe, no, no, no.
Kendall Alandra
No shirt. We know this is Chic Tariq, and
Jordan Myrick
it's by fashion brand company and it has two onions on it. That's. If you don't get it, then you don't get it.
Kendall Alandra
It's just, like, more expensive. Hot Topic. Like, you're like. That is which. I love Hot Topic, babe. I got a shirt from Hot Topic. Oh, my God. I got in such big trouble when I was in sixth grade. I got a shirt that said Hot Mess from Hot Topic and had a waffle covered in syrup, and my mom made me return it.
Jordan Myrick
I got a pair of sweatpants from Hot Topic when I was in sixth grade because I had a little boyfriend who played the Dr. A pair of sweatpants that down the leg. It said, I'm banging the drummer.
Kendall Alandra
And your parents made you return that? Yes.
Jordan Myrick
They never saw them.
Kendall Alandra
Where did you wear You. What?
Jordan Myrick
You. Around my backpack? Yeah, I put them in my back and wore the remote. That was a slut. Okay, so, anywho.
Instacart Sponsor Voice
What?
Jordan Myrick
I had to get those because I'm starting drum lessons.
Kendall Alandra
Jordan. Starting drum lessons? Babe, I'm gonna get those. You still have them?
Jordan Myrick
Yeah, I still have them.
Kendall Alandra
I probably wouldn't fit into them.
Instacart Sponsor Voice
I guess you're probably.
Jordan Myrick
Yeah, I still own them. And they'd fit you. Me in sixth grade. That's so insane. I was going to say something really important. Oh, I actually don't think it's. I think it's actually cool to wear. I think it's very cool. But that's also. I like. I am big into, like, things that are very campy, and I don't think you fully understand. And you don't get fashion at all. And when people see things. This is true. When people see things that you're wearing and they say, oh, my God, I love your shirt. What do you say?
Kendall Alandra
Are you asking me.
Jordan Myrick
You specifically, what do you have to say?
Kendall Alandra
Thank you. It's Jordans.
Jordan Myrick
Because it is.
Kendall Alandra
Because nobody's ever. I wear, like, tank tops that are sure plain, so.
Jordan Myrick
Shut up.
Kendall Alandra
You're not supposed to say that to your wife also. Oh, you thought that was funny?
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Yeah.
Jordan Myrick
Stop.
Kendall Alandra
Feels good. Jordan's a. Jordan's very funny. So I. I just like whenever you. It's rare that I make you really laugh.
Jordan Myrick
That's not true at all. You make me laugh every single day. What are you talking about?
Kendall Alandra
In public.
Jordan Myrick
Because I have to be cool in Public. Anyway.
Kendall Alandra
No, I actually want to say something too. Yeah, but you were already saying stuff like, you get one, I get one, you go. I don't remember what I was gonna say.
Jordan Myrick
What were you gonna say? No, you have the floor. What were you gonna say?
Kendall Alandra
Oh, I remember. I actually almost bought the shirt that I saw. It was advertised me. I thought it was so funny. It said, sorry, it's Alandra thing. You wouldn't understand.
Jordan Myrick
I think that's funny.
Kendall Alandra
That is funny.
Jordan Myrick
Sorry, I. The shirts that I want are a little more. They're either a little more niche or a little more campy.
Kendall Alandra
But how can you get more niche than. It's a Lander thing.
Jordan Myrick
You wouldn't understand because the concept is very general. Well, there's way more than adu. I know that for a fact, but also it's. The concept is general.
Kendall Alandra
Okay.
Jordan Myrick
I like shirts that say, you know more.
Kendall Alandra
It's chic. Drake.
Jordan Myrick
Specific things. What I want to say is important because I want help. I want to start making my own shirts that say things that I want them to say.
Kendall Alandra
Right.
Jordan Myrick
But I don't want them to be like screen printed iron on you junkie. You, like, wash it and it falls apart after one second. Where can I get shirts like that made that are actually really good quality, that aren't scratchy. Scratchy. When you run your nails across it, you stop. What?
Kendall Alandra
Because how many shirts you want to make?
Jordan Myrick
I don't know. Hundreds maybe.
Kendall Alandra
I want to do anything to be a different thing because.
Jordan Myrick
What is it?
Kendall Alandra
I want to make a couple. You told me one of your shirt ideas. I feel like you could because it's mostly tech, so it's not going to be that complicated. You could do embroidery.
Jordan Myrick
Yes.
Kendall Alandra
And then I can put some fabric on the back so it doesn't scratch your skin. Well, your mom can do that.
Jordan Myrick
I was gonna say you can't do that. Who embroiders shirts is what I need to know. So if there's no.
Kendall Alandra
He got that little embroidery kit.
Jordan Myrick
No, wait, what do you mean?
Kendall Alandra
Who you embody. You can learn to embroider. I need.
Jordan Myrick
No, I don't want to learn anything.
Kendall Alandra
I'm misunderstanding. I thought you wanted to make these shirts.
Jordan Myrick
I want to conceptualize them, and then I need them executed. The only person that could really do it that I know is my mom.
Kendall Alandra
No, babe. I mean, she could, of course, but you could go on Etsy and find that that is really. It's not hard at all.
Jordan Myrick
Oh, okay.
Kendall Alandra
You were telling me you wanted to make T shirts.
Jordan Myrick
Embroidery.
Kendall Alandra
You're trying to figure. You didn't think there was a way to make a custom T shirt go on any cruise.
Jordan Myrick
But I don't know because all of those are like packed.
Kendall Alandra
You can read, honey, you can read the reviews and there will be higher quality ones are gonna be more expensive, but people have that stuff to make that.
Jordan Myrick
Okay, you.
Kendall Alandra
That is so easy. I didn't understand that's what you wanted. I would have already fixed this.
Jordan Myrick
Well, you know, sometimes the conversation is hard, but it's good to talk through it because then you get to where you need to be. Let's get to the questions.
Kendall Alandra
And that everyone was a scripted performance that we created to show you.
Jordan Myrick
And scene.
Kendall Alandra
Sometimes a hard conversation is important. Go ahead. If you want to ask a question, make sure to go to hwhlpod questionsmail.com you can tell me long, long stories or short little stories or questions or updates on your personal life or just facts you want us to know. But primarily we do questions.
Jordan Myrick
So we got a long question. Speaking of long questions. Okay, I'm gonna read it to you now.
Kendall Alandra
Okay.
Jordan Myrick
My wife and I, both women, 32 years old, have been together for 12 years and are deeply in love. We were actually best friends that fell in love in college. Both the first women each other had been with. In March, my wife started a new job with lots of travel. We made the decision for her to take this new job together, and I supported it because she was really unhappy in her previous job and I, of course, want her to be happy. At the time we made this decision, we thought would be to travel about 50% of the time. So I was envisioning her being gone Monday through Thursday, Friday every other week. It has been a lot more travel than that. She was gone basically the entire month of May, and the rest of the summer will be 1.5 to two weeks away, 1.5 to two weeks at home. It has been really difficult for me. I miss her deeply. And it's also been a shit ton of work, taking care of the house and the dog by myself. It feels like we are both paying the price, but it feels like I am paying a higher price since I'm the person at home that feels the other person's absence more. In some ways, I think it has made our relationship stronger because when we are together, we are focused on each other. But goddamn if I don't find myself struggling on day nine or ten of her being gone. It's just so much alone time. I have lived with her since 2015, so this feels like a big shift. I work from home and I'm a CrossFit coach and have a good community that I see every day. I also have a lot of hobbies and a busy schedule. But I still have dark days with this big change. What is your advice for someone in my situation? How do I be supportive but not build up resentment of how much I am giving day in and day out in order to support my wife's career? Ideas on how to cope with so much alone time.
Kendall Alandra
I wish I. I wish I knew how much money the wife was making. I wish I knew. That's what I wish I knew.
Jordan Myrick
I think the wife has to be
Kendall Alandra
making much money she's making.
Jordan Myrick
I think the wife has to be making enough money because why would you do it if you're not making enough money?
Kendall Alandra
Under 120k? Stop. Are you telling me to stop?
Jordan Myrick
No, no, no. I'm agreeing with you.
Instacart Sponsor Voice
Okay.
Jordan Myrick
Yeah.
Kendall Alandra
I think under 120k, that's crazy.
Jordan Myrick
Yeah. Or may. And maybe it's your dream job. I don't know. But my thing is you got to put some money into this, unfortunately. I know it's not fun to throw money at a problem. It feels like the easy answer. But I think you need to get a cleane your house. I think now that your wife has this job and now you're alone doing all the chores, get a cleaner or get a dog walker. Do something that makes you feel like you are not responsible for everything that's being like quote unquote, kind of like left behind. Because I think that's where a lot of the resentment builds up.
Kendall Alandra
Yeah. I'm also like, figure out how long this is going to happen. Which I assume you probably already know. But if, if you're really like, this is really hard on me. I think communicating, like. I don't know if you agree with this, but I'll tell you, it's never stopped me before. I don't know why I'm telling you that now. I guess I'm like, you could say, if this is going to be long term, I'm having a really hard time with this. So I think you can do anything for a couple years, but if they're like, no, this is, this is how it's gonna be, that's a whole other situation. But I do think you, I mean, it sounds like you already have a great community, so I know you miss her. But I think just like pouring more time into your friends, especially if it's going to be not forever. I think using it as an opportunity to be like, I can pour more time into friends than I usually would, and just really. I mean, go on a trip with your friends, go on a cruise, do something. Do something fun. But I think if it's going to be a really long time. Clearly, you're not a type of person who thrives in that type of a dynamic, because I think some people do. Like, I think some people are totally fine with their partner being away for long periods of times, but speak on it. No, because. Well, sure, but also, you're not gone like that. Like, you will be gone. I'm not gone like that.
Jordan Myrick
But you, you, you miss me, but I think you're not hurting like some other people will.
Kendall Alandra
No, I, I, I enjoy my time alone. And I also, once I'm in a routine, I'm totally fine. And I. So, yes, but also, if you were gone for months at a time, that would be really hard. And I think if you were always leaving, it'd be hard. But I think I could. I think I could be in a relationship where that dynamic was happening. Some people just are not meant to do that. And that's not a bad thing. It's different for everybody. But I do think if they're like, no, I love this job. I want to do jobs like this for the rest of my life. That's something that I think maybe you should think about. But it's gonna be a couple years. How many times can Kendall repeat herself? God, I just. The way I talk sometimes. Sweetheart, it's okay, but don't you hear it? I've already said what I've said, like, 60 times.
Jordan Myrick
I know, but, you know, we're hearing all these things for the first time, canned answers. So sometimes you're kind of working your way to your thoughts.
Kendall Alandra
It's a. I know. That is what it is, I guess, but it's a. I just wish I was more succinct.
Jordan Myrick
Well, it's never gonna happen, so just. That's okay.
Kendall Alandra
And I'm trying to use less filler words, but I've completely lost it.
Jordan Myrick
I think you're doing better than used to, for sure.
Kendall Alandra
Well, I've learned a lot more words this year.
Jordan Myrick
There you go.
Kendall Alandra
I'm done speaking.
Jordan Myrick
Perfect. I agree with you. I think you just have to find ways to make things fun for yourself. I think that you should go visit your wife on one of her work trips.
Kendall Alandra
Be careful, though, because there's a whole Friends episode where that does not go well.
Jordan Myrick
But what is it? They surprise them, right?
Kendall Alandra
Yeah.
Jordan Myrick
Don't do that.
Kendall Alandra
Ross brings a picnic basket.
Jordan Myrick
Don't surprise work.
Kendall Alandra
And then they get in a huge fight.
Jordan Myrick
Don't do a surprise. What you need to do is say, oh, you're going to Seattle next weekend for work. I want to come and go. And then you can stay in their hotel room or whatever. And then you get to stay in a hotel room. And then you can take a bath together. And then they're. It's not like they're working 24 7. So during the day you can go out and explore the city. They can work. You meet up, you go to dinner. I think that's really fun. A nice little date situation. So I think you should do that. I think you should get a cleaner or a dog walker or whatever. I think you should take up a brand new hobby. I know you said you got a lot of hobbies, but pick up a new one.
Kendall Alandra
Sorry, I'm laughing. Thinking about another Friends episode. Jordan hates when I talk about Friends.
Jordan Myrick
I don't hate when you talk about Friends. I can't relate to it.
Kendall Alandra
I know, but it just. It's like there's so many episodes. There's an episode for everything, but there's also an episode where Monica surprises, so you shouldn't be surprised. It surprises Chandler by coming on his work trip and she gets to his door and he's watching porn. So when she walks and he changes the channel really quick, but she can tell he's masturbating. But it switches a shark documentary. So then she's like, he gets off to sharks. So then she's like, trying to, like, play into this, like, shark sex thing to make him into it. That's like classic comedy, you guys. That is hilarious.
Jordan Myrick
I tried to do a surprise for you recently that you didn't like Jordan.
Kendall Alandra
Don't talk about that. So embarrassing.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
It is.
Kendall Alandra
I just feel so bad.
Jordan Myrick
You don't need to feel bad.
Kendall Alandra
I felt so bad. I. Well, Jordan, like, told me about, like, a thing she'd planned for me and I was kind of like, I don't want to do that. That, like, broke my heart. And then I cried in the hot tub because I felt so guilty.
Jordan Myrick
It was just a thing I thought you would think was fun for your birthday. But then you were like, I actually don't want to do that with that bigger group of people.
Kendall Alandra
I know.
Jordan Myrick
It was fine. It really wasn't a big deal.
Kendall Alandra
I feel like such a brat. I hate feeling like a brat because I'm really not like that. But I. Because it felt like also Brat. Because I was like, I don't want to do that. Well, I want to do it, but I want to do something else also. So can you just, like, take me to do that separately?
Jordan Myrick
Sure. And you are a brat ultimately, so it's fine.
Kendall Alandra
No, but I'm very grateful. I'm very good with the flowing grateful. So it was very. It felt very out of my comfort z to be like, I don't want to do that.
Jordan Myrick
Sure.
Kendall Alandra
Oh, God, I'm brave.
Jordan Myrick
You are brave.
Kendall Alandra
I'm so brave. I. Yeah. Anyways, that's what I think you should do. Next question.
Jordan Myrick
I agree. That's what I think you should do. My boyfriend is the most loving, caring, funny, exciting and handsome man I've ever met.
Kendall Alandra
And that's not true because I am married to the most. I'm married to that. Go ahead.
Jordan Myrick
The most handsome man.
Kendall Alandra
I was. I. For before they said man, I was already gonna say that, so I already said it.
Jordan Myrick
My boyfriend is the most loving, caring, funny, exciting and handsome man I've ever met, and I really want to be with him for the rest of my life. However, in past relationships he had. He was the sole financial provider and put himself in thousands of dollars of credit card debt because of this. He's been trying to pay it down since we started dating and trying to budget. I'm in a place where I'm very financially stable, so he's living in my house rent free. As a way to help him get out of this hole. He offered to pay, but I turned him down. Keep in mind, he has a great job and earns a lot of money, so he should be able to pay off the debt quickly, but it's just not happening for some reason. I have some friends who wanted to go on a trip to Hawaii and Puerto Rico, but he turned them down due to money. I feel bad going without him and know if I say yes, he'd figure out a way to pay too, when it's not a good financial decision for him. I've tried to discuss his finances with him, but he has a lot of shame around it. And the last time he shut it down and said he felt like a loser. I hate seeing him feel this way, so I've avoided talking about the topic. But I really want to help him and I know one day we'll be sharing finances, so I want an open dialogue around the subject. How do I have conversations about money without making him feel like a loser? I feel like I could actually help him pay off his debt quicker, but he's too Embarrassed to let me see his bank accounts. I appreciate you guys. Any advice you could give would be helpful.
Kendall Alandra
First of all, do not marry this man until you have access to his bank accounts and you've seen them all. I'm telling you, if he doesn't want you to look at it, you can't. You have no idea what's in there. I'm telling you, it's so much worse. I'm telling you, it's so much worse
Jordan Myrick
than he's telling you or it's not, or it's fine. But either way, Kendall and I are big believers that you cannot marry someone who will not let you out of their bank account.
Kendall Alandra
It will ruin the rest of your life, especially I don't know where. What state you're in. If you're in California, be really careful. Anyways, I understand this. I relate to this.
Jordan Myrick
Because.
Kendall Alandra
Because I was him. I feel like a little bit. Sure. In this. When we first started dating.
Jordan Myrick
Sure.
Kendall Alandra
And you were her.
Jordan Myrick
No. Well, your dad was really bad with money.
Kendall Alandra
I mean, on a different level.
Jordan Myrick
Yeah.
Kendall Alandra
Dare I say. I mean, he was. Yes, my dad.
Jordan Myrick
You've been kind of on both sides.
Kendall Alandra
My dad was a. My dad was a liar, so. And I love. I mean, you. My dad. I love my dad. My dad and I very, very close, but my dad. Of finances, it. I will be vague, but it caused a lot of issues, and so you just have to be very careful. But I also, money is taught, and money being. I. I hate when people say I'm good with money. I'm bad with money. No, you're not. You're. You're. It's like I. You're good at soccer, you're bad at soccer. You can have a natural inclination. Is that right? Inclination for it. But in general, being good with money is something that's taught. If you don't have parents who have money, how are they going to teach you to use it? If you don't have parents who can kind of catch you when you fall, and you're going to end up paying a lot more for stuff. You're going to have to be doing interest and you're going to have to pay for. I mean. I mean, when I was growing people. Some people rent their furniture, and then they pay for their furniture because they can't afford. I mean, being poor is the most expensive thing you can do. And so when Jordan and I met, I was in. I mean, looking back now, what I. Knowing what I know now, not in that bad of debt. I didn't realize how Bad of debt people could be in. I was in about $20,000 worth of debt.
Jordan Myrick
You were in a lot of debt.
Kendall Alandra
But I didn't. I thought at the time, it's very isolating. And at the time, I thought, no one's in more debt than I am. There are people who are in millions of dollars of debt. I didn't realize that.
Jordan Myrick
Sure.
Kendall Alandra
But it was really hard because I was also living. I mean, I was working, and I'll try to be quick, because I'm sure I've talked about this before, but I was working as a server in New York City, and I. Even when I crunched the numbers, it would be like, okay if I brought a bagged lunch, made just peanut butter and jelly every day to work. And I never went out, and I never had fun. I would have liked $90 outside of my rent to survive. So being in debt was kind of the. I mean, what am I gonna do with that? Save 90amonth and then immediately have to go to the doctor and it'll be gone? It was just kind of pointless. And I think there was like a dual. Like, I made almost a decision to be like, I'm gonna be in debt. I never foresaw a world where I would be not poor.
Jordan Myrick
Yeah.
Kendall Alandra
So I was kind of like, I would like to live a nice life. I would like to do things that I want to do to a certain degree. And. But when we started dating, it is different when you pull someone else into that situation, because then Jordan was kind of like, well, I am not going to get into a. I'm not going to marry someone that is in debt. And I. Instead of just immediately going to saving and, like, putting all the blame on myself, I, like, went to therapy, which also, at the time, was stressful because it would cost money. But I went to therapy and, like, worked on why I couldn't save money and the shame I had around it, because it was the same exact thing. Like, Jordan wouldn't want to talk about money. And I would shut down and be really embarrassed because it also goes back to other things. Like, I mean, you came from a family that was more at least fiscally responsible than, you know, I had my dad, who I was like, there's a lot of shame around money. There's a lot of shame around how money was handled. And it made me feel like, oh, I'm just like a poor. I'm a poor loser. And you. And I totally understand that feeling. And so I would just keep it all very to myself and be kind of Like, I'm gonna fix this on my own. I'm gonna fix it on my own. And that's actually something that a little insight into now is something I'm working on a lot currently in our relationship is going. Actually. When I mess up, my instinct is to push it all inside and be like, I'm gonna fix it before anyone can know what's going on. And I'm working on being like, this is a problem I'm currently having, and asking Jordan for help, which has been really helpful. But I think with the money thing, there's so much shame. And I understand that. But ultimately you have to say, this is what's acceptable to me.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
And.
Kendall Alandra
And sometimes it will lead to arguments. I mean, Jordan and I, we had tons of arguments about money when we first started having these conversations.
Jordan Myrick
Yeah.
Kendall Alandra
Don't widen your eyes. Like I was crazy.
Jordan Myrick
No, you were crazy. It was a hard time. You know, I'm very lucky. I grew up very financially stable. My parents had very stable jobs. My dad worked for forever for an airline. He worked at the airport. Then he worked at a ticketing office. He was like a gate agent. He liked his job. My mom is and always has been a nurse. Either er, icu. My mom has done that forever. So I think I grew up in a really, really sweet spot of. I did not come from true wealth, but I had everything I needed. But at the same time, my parents were very financially aware and very financially responsible because my parents were responsible for their money, my life, their lives, whatever. Which is. Sometimes I think you meet these people that come from just like, big time generational wealth.
Kendall Alandra
Yeah.
Jordan Myrick
And no one in their family is good with money because they've never had to be good with money. It's like my parents actually had to sit down and be like, what can we afford? We have to budget, what, you know, things like that. So I feel very lucky that I grew up in, like, a very sweet spot with very financially responsible parents that set me up even mentally around money.
Kendall Alandra
Yeah.
Jordan Myrick
On a good path that you just didn't. And I never felt resentful toward you about the money stuff. I only felt resentful towards you about the way that you handled it.
Kendall Alandra
Well, because I think the thing is, is, like, you have to sit this person down and be like, so I see a future with you. Money is not a thing to be ashamed of. We all come from different places that we had no control over. You need to work on this in multiple aspects. Your shame around it needs to be figured out, whether in therapy or however you want to do so I need to be able to see what's happening with you financially. And if he has a bad response, try that conversation again. Be like, I'd love to come to it. If he can't have this conversation, you simply, you. I am telling you, do not marry this person. It is not worth it. Doesn't mean it's not going to be hard in the beginning. I'm not saying he can't have growing pains or shame and anxiety and get angry and get frustrated, but before you get married, like, that has to be resolved.
Jordan Myrick
Yeah.
Kendall Alandra
Because it can. It can truly ruin your entire life,
Jordan Myrick
and it will fester and it will seep into other things and can contribute to lying and, like, just all kinds of things.
Kendall Alandra
It'll be other things. If he lies when he's shame ashamed or he keeps secrets when he's ashamed, and even he's telling you that I'm ashamed, I don't want to talk about it. If he's. If you've set the precedent in your relationship. When I'm ashamed of something, I don't have to tell you, that is just
Jordan Myrick
not a good precedent to set. Yeah.
Kendall Alandra
That can get really, really bad really fast.
Jordan Myrick
100%. So, yeah. I think that you have to be honest and open, and I think helping your partner is great. I've helped Kendall financially many a times in our relationship early on. I think that's awesome. But money is not moral. It can be amoral. It can be bad, but it's not like being poor is not a moral failing. No, struggling with money is not a moral failing. So. But what is a moral failing? Or maybe. Maybe calling it a moral failing is too much, but what is a problem is not being honest with your partner, not being open to help. And, I mean, when you get married, you will be helping each other for the rest of forever, so that you have to set that precedent now.
Kendall Alandra
Yeah.
Jordan Myrick
So you. Unfortunately, you have to make him have
Kendall Alandra
a conversation because you. Yeah. 100. I won't keep. I'm working on stopping, so I'm not gonna say anything else. Next question.
Jordan Myrick
Good job. Give me one second.
Kendall Alandra
I could just reiterate. I could do a podcast called Reiterate, and I just say the same sentence over and over again. And let me just close off by saying one more time the same thing you just heard. But I think it's kind of good in a podcast, may I say, because you're, like, doing your dishes right now, and then you had to go in the other room because you forgot you need a sponge that you kept in the grocery bag so you need to go get it from the front door. And then you're like, oh, I missed what Kendall said. Oh thank God she's repeating it for a 50th time.
Jordan Myrick
I think people are thrilled that they get to hear you at all, and
Kendall Alandra
I'm sure that's true.
Jordan Myrick
This person wants to know if they're the asshole in this quote, messy lesbian situation. Okay, thought you'd like this one. Kendall. Yeah, I was friends with an ex situationship. After months of going no contact, it was a messy situation at first, but then things were smoothed over. Without talking about it though, just sort of swept under the rug. Remember this for later? We start talking again due to her reaching out, first by responding to an Instagram story and then I asked to hang out with a group of our friends who were here from out of town. We then began hanging out both in groups and individually for a couple months. At the time I had a girlfriend who was actually the reason for our situation ending in the first place. At the time I was balancing feelings and exploring connections with both the soon to be girlfriend and the ex. But my ex situation chip shut this down because she didn't want to hurt my soon to be girlfriend's feelings as we were all friends at the time. As I'm talking to her after we reconnect, I realized that as much as I don't want to, I was getting really jealous when she would talk about other people she had been with or people she was talking to. And as we were getting back into being friends, I was low key developing feelings for her again. As this was happening, I was also starting to struggle with my mental health and other friendships. Looking back, I realized that my feelings were always tied to self doubt, looking for validation from someone, etc due to my struggle with mental health and things with my now GF becoming rocky, I started to push her away and we went on a break which turned into a very short lived breakup. About a week after the breakup I start low key flirting with my ex situationship and I think I'm being super subtle, but one day we're talking and she asked if I'm flirting with her and I tell her the truth, she shuts me down again and we both say that we really valued each other's friendships. But after texting a bit afterwards and letting her know I was sorry for overstepping a boundary, she tells me that her reason for not wanting to be with me has nothing to do with either of us and everything to do with my girlfriend, who she claims to care more about. After this situation, she hardly ever reaches out to my girlfriend and leaves her with dry responses when they text. Which pisses me off because how are you going to reject me because you care about her and then treat her that type of way? After we had a conversation via text a couple weeks ago, she takes forever to respond and she ghosts me. And I find out from her mutual friend that she definitely did not value our friendship or her friendship with my girlfriend as much as she said she did. And she even said some rude things about me that I thought were not respectful. I know I'm the asshole for some of these things, but I can't help but feel as though she was not great either. Also, I need advice on how to reach back out and ask for some of the stuff I lent her.
Kendall Alandra
Okay. Okay. You don't need the stuff back. I don't know what. You lost it. It's gone. You have to get a hobby. You need to find a show you like. You need to love yourself. You need to not spend every waking moment of your life seeking attention. And I love you so much. But that is what this is giving to me. You cannot. Why are you friends? This person is. This is crazy. You're not friends with this person. That person is not a friend. Stop hanging out with them. You should never see them again. If you have a girlfriend, you should never see them again. That is someone you reach out to. And we all have these people in our lives. We have a situationship the second we're single. Hello?
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Hello? Where are you?
Kendall Alandra
That's fine.
Jordan Myrick
Do you have one?
Kendall Alandra
Yeah, she's on speed dial every moment. I mean, no, not anymore, but before us. Yeah. There's like a girl would be like. She would know when I was going through a breakup with like short term girlfriends because I would always reach out and I'm. That is what that can be. You do you dare not be hanging out with this person in group settings or otherwise when with your. While you're with your girlfriend. But it feels like you want to be feeling attention at every given moment. And I say this out of love because I understand you. I really. I can really. I don't think you're a monster for that. I think everyone can relate to that but you. There's other things to do besides to get attention from lesbians. I wish it wasn't the case.
Jordan Myrick
Trust me, I know you agree. Yes. I also think that you are the asshole because of the way that you're treating your girlfriend. I Think it's bad. I hope you and her aren't still together. And that's judgmental of me to say, but for her sake, I think you need to break up with her. Because I think you're not as invested in her as she is in you. And I think that's bad. I think you're acting bad towards your girlfriend.
Kendall Alandra
And I don't think it was bad that that person was saying disrespectful things of you. I'm sorry. Please, please join our Patreon. Don't cancel your Patreon.
Jordan Myrick
I know, I don't want you to be mad at us, but we always
Kendall Alandra
give it to you guys real.
Jordan Myrick
We it to you real.
Kendall Alandra
And I also am saying, because I've been there where it's like, it is really easy. And I think we talk about this all the time, that we live in a world where we are used to constant comfort, constant stimulation. And it is very easy. And I think this is why a lot of people are like, wait, should I be open? Should I be poly? I think there's a total case for that, of course. And do whatever makes you happy. But I think some people are like, wait, I can't get everything from this person and so I should be allowed everything. And I am like, no, you don't need to have everything at all times. And I don't even think you can if you're seeking from outside of yourself. God, I gotta write a book. I'm just kidding. If you're seeking from outside yourself, you're not going to ever be satisfied.
Jordan Myrick
Yeah.
Kendall Alandra
And also, things change. A person who provides you with a certain thing at a certain time is not gonna be able to provide it for you in two years. Like, I think that you want to feel someone being attracted to you, attention a lot. And when you're not around, your girlfriend or possibly your girlfriend is not in the place to provide you with that 100%. Or it's like, you guys, I have a strong feeling you've never been in a long term relationship. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but nicely. But I think that as relationships go on, you're not gonna always be getting that type of affection and constant sexual attention that seems like you really need. And I fear that you might become a cheater. And don't do that.
Jordan Myrick
It's giving cheater a little bit. Yeah, a little bit of cheer. It's giving a little bit of cheer. And once again, I don't think, I don't think it makes you a villain to cheat I've said it before and I'll say it again, and that's a hot take. I think that people make mistakes, people change, people grow. All kinds of things can happen over the course of your life. Life is long if you're lucky.
Kendall Alandra
No, but what do we say in the car the other day?
Jordan Myrick
Once a cheater is not always a cheater, but twice a cheater is always a cheater. Is what you.
Kendall Alandra
Something like that.
Jordan Myrick
Yeah.
Kendall Alandra
Yeah. Because I think with this, it's like if you even emotionally cheat. I've had, I had this years ago where it was like I was with a girl once again who didn't really care about me. But I, in my head, we were dating. I emotionally kind of cheated on her and I thought I was going to have to check myself into a ward. I was literally so distraught. And I mean that. So generally I'm not. I was like so guilty. I felt so horrible that I ended things with her just out of like sheer panic. And then I never spoke to the person who was with. This is emotional. This was not. We didn't touch in the slightest. I was so deeply distraught by this. Never in my life again would I do something like that. Because it. I knew and this is someone I didn't even really care about that much. And I just felt so guilty and horrible. So I think there is truth. If you cheat once, you will realize that was. That was not worth it. That was the worst thing that's ever happened to me. Because I don't think anyone. I think if you've been in a long enough relationship, no one for the most part thinks it's crazy to see someone and find them attractive or see someone and feel polar. You're in a hard time in your relationship and you're craving that attention that you don't get when you're in a long term relationship. No one thinks it's insane to feel that, but I don't think you'll follow through with it. And it sounds like you did not have a. It sounds like you, the. Your situationship has a lot more thought about your girlfriend than you do.
Jordan Myrick
That's what I was gonna say. I think it's really weird that your situationship is being like, I don't want to do this because I respect your girlfriend. Either your girlfriend or your ex girlfriend who just broke up with at like. And then that's irritating to you. I think you need to think about that a little bit. Sorry.
Kendall Alandra
It's a hard life. It's hard.
Jordan Myrick
Sorry. I don't think you're bad, but I think you're. You're acting out, and I think you want us to tell you that your situationship is also bad. And I just. From what you told me, I can't say that. I think. And I'm sorry. It feels bad. I don't know what your situationship was saying about you. So if your situationship was like, she's ugly. They're ugly. I'm like, okay, that's rude. But if your situationship was like, they're pursuing me while they also kind of have a girlfriend, and I think that's messed up. Well, oh, I don't know.
Kendall Alandra
But love you so much.
Jordan Myrick
But we love you so much, and I don't think you should be with your situationship. I don't think you should be with that girlfriend either. I think you should go out, take some time, take a deep breath, go dancing, recommit to yourself, and then meet someone new and start up. Start afresh.
Kendall Alandra
Yeah, you can't be with people because they get even. The way you're describing some of this, it's like, people are a. And once again, I understand it. I'm not. You're not alone in this. But you're. These people are just a vessel to give you attention. They're not peop. You're not liking specific things about. I'm sure you do, but I think it can feel that way. If you just let people be a vessel for attention for you, you're gonna always be like, everyone's replaceable. And if I am here and this person's here, they can give me the same thing that my longtime girlfriend can give me.
Jordan Myrick
Yeah.
Kendall Alandra
Next question.
Jordan Myrick
No more questions. The episode's over.
Kendall Alandra
Can you believe it?
Jordan Myrick
Wow. We're done.

Jordan Myrick
And we really appreciate it.
Kendall Alandra
I really appreciate you sharing the darkest parts of yourself. I don't know if I could write into a podcast with. With. I have a lot of. Am I the assholes? I'm a total asshole, and I have a lot of stuff like that I could write, and I. It's too vulnerable. It's very vulnerable. So we really appreciate it. Thank you all so much for being here with us this Monday morning. Hope you're having a great drive.

And if you're like, I love this podcast. I'm so glad that a huge podcasting company pays for all of it. Stop. That's not true. Kendall and I pay for all of it.
