Welcome to a special series called How They Did It. On the Healing and Human Potential podcast. We take real life stories and share the transformation and insights around how people follow their dreams so that you can apply them to your own life. Today, we're specifically talking about having a calling in your heart, but feeling scared about taking that courageous next step and really learning how to give yourself grace through doing nervous system regulation work and choosing a path that feels totally aligned with you no matter what. Our guest today moved to the United States from the Ukraine at 19 years old, had $300 to her name, barely spoke English, didn't have a lot of support, her family was still in Ukraine and she moved into a new career. We're going to hear her story about how she moved from survival mode into honoring the call to serve others and really jumped into the coaching field. And within three weeks of learning my sales strategy, she was able to start attracting dream clients and started to really regulate her nervous system to feel greater safety, PE and wholeness. And so if you've ever been wondering, where do I start on my dream or to get into the coaching field, this episode is for you. Enjoy. So I know a lot of people listening right now have a dream in their heart, but they're intimidated or they don't know what's going to happen. And so I know before we met you had no experience coaching and you had the courage to take the leap to step into something totally fresh and new. And I just want you to take us back a little bit to that time before we met. What was your life like before you took a leap into a new career?
B
Yeah, I really wanted to be in service and support people in transforming their lives since I was 15 years old. When I was back in Ukraine and had my first lesson in psychology, it landed very clear that that's what I would love to do. So I went and pursued that. I went to school to study to be a psychotherapist and wanted to have my own practice. And then I decided to take a vacation, summer vacation to come here to the United States with zero intentions to stay here. And after just meeting Americans and falling in love with the culture, falling in love with the opportunities, I decided to stay.
A
How old were you at that time?
B
I was 19 years old.
A
Okay.
B
Barely no English, came here with three $300 because I didn't plan it will be my home. And obviously I had to drop from school to stay here. Fast forward maybe three or four years, my English started getting better. The story I told myself is that I can't go to school here for psychology because my English will never be good enough. So I almost put my dream of helping people transform their lives and alleviate human suffering on the back burner. Because the story I told myself, I wasn't good enough. My English wasn't good enough. I will never be at the level of my speaking that I need to be in order to fully understand somebody's inner world. And the easiest step I could take at that moment because that soul pool was always there, it never went away of still doing that was to play small and to become a personal trainer because that felt like a low risk, very, very safe step. And as I started seeing the results that people were getting with not just shifting what they were doing, our physical health, but the mental component and the tools and other skills that I was able to provide them with, I started feeling that this is what I'm meant to do. But what I started experiencing was it felt like I was still playing small. It was still not after a few years of that, it still felt like I was holding back. And that call just kept getting louder. And at some point I got into realizing the value of the nervous system work. But I couldn't see how I can merge those two worlds because it felt like I was playing with two separate identities. And I felt stuck in wanting to support people in deeper transforming their lives that were not just through health and fitness, but with transforming your inner world. And I kept searching for an approach that will allow me to integrate my experience and the somatic work that I started playing with as well as mindset work. And I couldn't find the way to do that. It just seemed like everybody else around was doing it so easily, but in the way I wanted to do, felt like it was unreachable and it just felt like it was just scratching the surface. And I was willing to go deeper with people's transformation.
A
Well, it sounds like you have had an ability to leap and to take the courageous step when it felt right for you to have left your home country and started a new life here. It just takes an amount of courage. And so I honor you for that. Because some people will let fear hold them back from following their heart. And it sounds like that pull to really serve people more deeply has always been here. And you've just been tending to the next most intelligent step and what felt right for you. And then that had you join the Institute for Coaching Mastery. And so talk to us about when you joined. It sounds like you started having success within three weeks from joining and incredible things started unfolding for you. So talk to us about what started to unfold when you took that leap into icm.
B
Well, the things started shifting the moment I signed up, because I signed up a little bit before the ICM started. So if you're watching this and it might be a little bit before the program starts, that's the best thing you can do for yourself because of the bonuses and everything you will receive. So I started noticing a lot of shifts in the conversation I was able to have with my clients at that moment. They were personal training clients. And the deep shift that started happening internally because of the inner work, that was the important piece. And there is an important piece of becoming a coach, which absolutely love ICM4 and when we started the program in February, I remember on the week two finding my answer that I was looking for for almost three years, which was the approach that ICM teaches of how to the structure that I was looking for of how to facilitate transformation in a container.
A
One that's integrative. Right. Where it's like you don't just learn mindset, you don't just learn somatic. You work with people how they need to be met. Starting we do our own work first, we start with ourselves and then we can more confidently facilitate others and meet a variety and a range of type of human experience. Some people are lost in their mind, others are lost in their emotions. So really developing your toolkit so that it's integrative, it's trauma informed and then we meet people where they need to be met and we evolve over time too. So then, you know, we'll continue that framework supports our evolution both in business, but also in facilitation.
B
Absolutely. Yeah. And ironically, to my surprise, the story I told myself that I always had this thing that I think will resonate with a lot of people, that I need more certifications to do what I want to do or that I need a certification. And I love the integrity that comes with it and I absolutely support that. But what I've seen with myself personally for many years is that no matter how many certifications I've gotten, that could be a trap unless you do the inner work that is required for you to do what you want to do. And to my surprise, I had my. I created my very first coaching client on the week two or three in ICM of the program.
A
That's incredible. What supported you the most was it the framework to be able to create your first client so quickly.
B
The approach that I see him teaches of clarity session which felt really aligned with my values which felt really aligned with how I wanted to coach. And I remember thinking to myself if I walk away now, I've gotten everything that I've been looking for. But of course that was only week two.
A
That's amazing. And I think that I taught a crash course because the clarity session for people that don't know this is my sales signature framework. It's using your gifts as a facilitator to sell. So sales as service, it's really about providing an experience and there's a seven step framework around it. And I think I taught it as a crash course I did in the second week. So it sounds like you learned it and then you applied it and it converted. And I hear that a lot in the program where people are like sales feels good. And now I know how to convert and use my skills to attune to people and provide value making a difference as a way to grow a business. So I love that it was the clarity session this and just for people also with context, this. I used to teach this in a high ticket mastermind and it's inside and embedded in the program. It's what I what I did to create $300,000 my first year as a coach just doing clarity sessions. And you don't need a large audience, you don't need to use social media. Did you use social media to create clients or was that not something that you were doing in the beginning?
B
No, all. Everything. All my results mostly from offline marketing. Yeah.
A
Yeah. Have you ever felt like there's something more you're meant to do? Like you've outgrown the life that you're living but you don't know what comes next. Maybe you've checked all the boxes and still something inside whispers this isn't it. What if that whisper is actually a calling, A sign that you're here to do something meaningful, Something that lights you up and serves others in the process? After two decades of experience as a psychotherapist and coach running a multiple seven figure business, I've seen what's possible when people fully step into their purpose. And that's why I've created my ICF accredited coach certification program to help people like you turn their natural gifts into a fulfilling career and life that feels fully aligned. It's for brand new and experienced coaches working in any niche inside. You'll learn powerful tools to not just transform your life, but feel confident in deeply and profoundly helping others change theirs. You'll also learn practical strategies to build a purpose led business and embody your inherent worth so you can show up authentically feeling supported to really have a natural abundance in your life. You'll also join a supportive, heart centered community of people who, like you, have decided to stop settling and start living their purpose. And so if you're ready to feel clear, confident and connected, to finally align with the freedom and fulfillment that you've been seeking, I want to invite you to take the next step. The link is in the show notes to learn more and apply today or go to Alyssa nobriga.com apply I would be honored to support you on this journey. So I just want to plug this is another example for people to really get that you don't have to pay for leads to create clients. There are already people that you can strategically plug into, whether that is in your network or out of your network. It doesn't have to be in person. You can do it online, but you plug into other people's audiences to provide value and create clients. That way we or you can creatively plug into communities that you already are existing in. But sometimes I don't recommend people are creating clients that they're friends with because the boundaries aren't really great. So I'd rather you there's lots of strategies. We go over 70 ways to create a client in the program like a checklist so that you can always think about, oh, I could serve here. You start seeing that clients are everywhere, but you have to do the inner work too. So it's like questioning the misunderstanding that I need a client, not coming from scarcity, thinking that your okayness is in another client. Your okayness is in your body, in the moment and then from that place you show up to serve more people. So I love, I love the clarity session. I'm biased and I love that it was such a pivotal thing for you and your work as well. So you started externally shifting. Talk to us more about what some of the external results were that you were able to step into in icm.
B
So I I kept doing both. When I first started, I kept doing both and I' I'm a big believer in that approach because it doesn't put pressure on my calling. I knew this was my calling since I was 15. I knew I was all the way in. So I gave myself a year to fully transition. I told myself by the end of the first year of ICM I will fully transition. And I actually was able to do that instead of 12 months but fully transition by month nine of ICM.
A
So you went full time into coaching in nine months and I Love that you plug that. I want to highlight that I think it's too much pressure on a new career if you're depending on it financially because sometimes people's scarcity can cramp and put pressure on it versus allowing yourself to have consistent income as you transition out. And there'll be a moment like it sounds like that for you, it was quicker than you thought it would be. And I think that is a really great thing to highlight so that there's more grace in that path.
B
I could have done it even sooner. I just didn't want to again put that pressure in my conversations with my potential clients because it just felt really good as something that I'm doing no matter what. I started creating clients ever since that third or second week of icm and I hit that plateau in my business, in my personal training business, I couldn't have consistent 10k months like I would. It seems like I. It seemed that the moment that I had an upper limit of going closer to 10k but then kind of settling down and which was my baseline and with. So I wanted just to. Having a lot of three in me, I just wanted to expense. What is that like to make more than 10? Because 10 seemed to be my record month in personal training. And I think in four or five months of ICM being ICM, I had my first 15k month.
A
Within the first four or five months of ICM, you had your first 15k month. So you just.
B
Yes, yes. So I was able to break through the plateau that I wasn't able to break through in my personal training business. And I reached an interesting point where I am so glad that happened and I'm so glad that happened so soon because what it felt like, it felt like reaching, I don't know, 100k for somebody because the feeling was, oh, I can do this and if I can do 15, I can probably do 30, and if I can do, I can probably do 100. And that was such a powerful experience for me because I realized if I can do all these things, then it's never been about the business, has never been about the money. And I'm so grateful that I reached that point because what I did then, instead of what usually happens that I see even with my clients now, they reach certain level, okay, let's do next month, let me just measure up. And they never allow themselves to rest in this new level that they've created. So what I did then, I allowed myself to almost reestablish a new identity of what, whatever the goal that I'm setting is possible now. Let's actually make it what it is really about. If it's not, it's never about the goal. It's about those feelings that we want that the goal will give us. And let me live from that place and let me build my every offer, my every goal that I have for myself from that space. And I am, I'm. I can't stress enough how grateful I am that that happened because in my work I've had that would reach hundreds of thousand dollars or have more money they can ever spend and still, still never reaching the point, still never feeling enough.
A
Yeah, and I love that you bring this up because it's. I know we highlight the results because a lot of people want that. And it's something so much deeper that we also go to in the program. This is a tool we talk about as conscious goals where it's not about the thing, it's about what we think the thing will give us, how we will feel and how do we embody that now so we're not a victim to the goal. And also in psychology there's something called a nourishment barrier. So if we don't take time to let our nervous system relax and recalibrate, it's like this hungry ghost. It's never enough. And so I love that you really utilize the program and the support to establish a new baseline, a set point and to take your power back from the goal or from the external results.
B
You know, which leads me to some other results from that I was able to create from that space. I've been wanting to facilitate a retreat for women for like three years at that point. It's been calling me, but I always felt like I needed somebody to facilitate it with. I wasn't enough to do it by myself. So I had my very first retreat also about five months into icm. It was one day retreat, but I was like, if I can do one day, I can do three days by myself too. I just didn't want to again put that pressure. I didn't feel like I needed, needed to prove something to myself. It was more from like, oh, I can actually do something that feels really fun and will really serve women. That is beyond just a two hour event, but entire day. And my other result, that also blew my mind because of how it was created. The main thing being it was created with ease. No forcing, no striving, no chasing. That a lot of times is a theme when you are an entrepreneur. How easy it was for me to create my first, my highest Month, which was around $30,000. And that happened, I think eight, eight maybe. Yeah, around eight months in ICM.
A
Wow, that's incredible. That's incredible. To go from not really having like from personal training to $30,000 a month within eight months. First client three, two or three weeks up leveled the most you've ever made in a month at 15k in four months, and then to do 30 at eight, I mean, those are some really incredible results. I know that part of that is some of the inner work and the depth of work that you did. It's not just the outer strategy, which is important, but I would love to hear, maybe you could weave in a little bit about what's happened since your first year of ICM and then weave in for people listening. What was some of the inner work that supported your outer results? Because I know we talk about life as a mirror inside icm and so people think, what was the strategy? And although that's. It's sweet to think it was a strategy thing. And yes, there's an amazing way to run business as a personal development path and to learn heart centered sales and organic marketing so that it can be graceful and easy and see opportunities right in front of you. But talk to us a little bit about some of the results since icm and then if there were any tools or teachings in the program that really helped you, quantum leap so that others could apply that to their own life.
B
There's so many internal results, I don't think I can list them all because we'll need two hours for that. But some of the biggest ones were how safe I feel within myself, regardless of the outside circumstances. As somebody who grew up in Ukraine, as somebody who did not have a safe home, who had to immigrate here early, I didn't realize the pressure you would put on my nervous system. And also being without support, I mean, I always felt supported. But not having family, specifically in the United States, I still don't have any family in the United States. My entire family is in Ukraine. And with everything especially that is going on right now, now in Ukraine, for it to be not taking me out of my game, my life, to be able to have space, to feel what I need to feel, to go to my knees and be able to feel the depth of the experience that I know my family is going through right now and in the same breath, in the same day, to be able to have that not take away from my son, my clients, my relationships, that is priceless. As well as no matter the biggest thing that I Love that ICM teaches is your own resourcefulness. I would say safety, resourcefulness. Those are my top two that always come into my mind because that shifts everything. If you can, if you know how to insource your own safety, that is everything for the business, that is everything for your relationship, that is everything for any area of your life. And if you know how to also tap into your own resourcefulness, if you embody your own resourcefulness, it's like a cherry on top of that safety. You know that no matter what happens in the economy, no matter what happens in the world, you know that you are going to be okay.
A
I love that you went to the heart of it because that's really what it's about. As you feel safe in your nervous system, your entire life expands from there. And from that expansion, you get resourceful. And with resourcefulness, it's like there's just something that is priceless that can't be taken away. And you find your power in any situation because there's going to be. Even if a economy crashes, there are companies that thrive as a result of that. Right? Because they're resourceful. They're thinking about what are the big companies, how are they losing their clientele, how can I serve those people in a new way? And so they're innovative and they're of service. And so I love that you highlight those two. I think that is if any. If people hear anything from this, it's like really insourcing safety and opening your mind to see, how can I be of service? Because we can always hit our financial goals if we are of service to others, doing what we love. And there's something that one, as an entrepreneur, when that clicks for you, it's like you can't unsee that. You know you've got it no matter what's happening outside. And that's powerful. And so since. So you talked about where you were at the 8th month of ICM, is there anything else externally that you wanted to share in terms of since then or anything else that's unfolded for you?
B
Yeah, totally. But I want to still plug in few internal because they're huge. What I love that you teach us is that sales is service again. Once that landed for me, you become unstoppable. So I absolutely love that aspect. That changed because I've dealt with sales for many years from personal training and how ICM teaches sales. How you teach sales is beyond anything I've experienced in other containers. So I'm deeply, deeply grateful for that. The way your conversation changes with. With the inner work and the tools that you'll be given will be just. Also that piece alone, how I talk to myself, I'll speak for myself, how I talk to myself and how I have my own back no matter what, that's something I never had. I never had it as a child. And it's something that my inner child gets to have. As well as seeing the ripple effect it creates in the way I parent, in the way I see how it shows up in my clients lives and how they parent, how they change their inner talk. And seeing that ripple effect is also priceless to me. So. And I can't not mention that.
A
No, I get it. I experienced the same thing. I really had such a fierce inner critic. And the moment I started offering compassion to the critic and, and seeing that the critic was just trying to help me, it was unconsciously thinking that if it criticized me then I would do better and then I'd be safe. And I just reversed engineered that whole thing of just bringing compassion to the critic. It's, it literally I was like, oh, there's a new set point. I don't go to criticism anymore. It's a lot lighter inside. I feel happier and more at peace. And so I love that you bring that up. It's powerful.
B
And lastly, I'll touch on this one if I may, because this one is huge too. The, the worthiness aspect that I've only seen in ICM as well, that let it in a place where your worthiness is not attached to the results, to your performance, to anything that happens to you externally, is a game changer as a business owner, as a mother, as a partner in any relationship. And that is something that I'm also really, really grateful for. So the worthiness aspect is profound.
A
And I would say that's the heart of the work. Like if, if anybody listening, whether you're a coach or you're just doing this for your own personal development, if you really want to change your life, you work on the level of identity. And so many people have this sense of not feeling good enough, of inadequacy. I would say it's like 99.5% of humans. And it can, it can go from like, I'm better than, and I'm not good enough or I'm too much, I'm not enough. It's same wound at the heart of it. And the defense mechanism of the ego shows up in two different ways. And so when we start to not just conceptualize, oh, I'm inherently worthy, when we really integrate that on all five levels. Mentally, emotionally, somatically, behaviorally, and unconsciously. It changes everything. And so this is not just like, oh, I'm inherently worthy as a mindset or an affirmation. This is about deeply knowing that in your gut and living a different life as a result. So I love that you highlight that as well.
B
I couldn't miss. No.
A
And I love talking about money because it brings up worth. And I know there's so much unconscious trauma around money, and we want to be healthy stewards of it so that we can hold a clean and compassionate space for our clients. We don't unconsciously project trauma out into our business, into our clients, and that we're good stewards of it. We don't overvalue it and we don't undervalue it. We have a healthy relationship with it. And, you know, I think a lot of people come into ICM thinking, how many clients? How much do I make? And yes, we address all of those things, but because we use business as a personal development path, we use business to help you actually get free and come to a deeper truth of how you navigate yourself, your life, your business, as a result.
B
So, yes, and yes, after the first year, the. The first year was so good. Of course, I signed up for another one. I had my second, second year in icm. And I also want to touch on that. Doing my business by myself for many years as a personal trainer, yes, I was able to have it somewhat successful. That was my only source of income. I loved what I was doing. I was getting good traction. It was growing. But what I was able to reach there by myself was so limiting. Now looking back and to see the growth that I had in my business and myself, when I actually had a mentor, when I had this program, guide me, give me framework as well as inner work and how it's designed just beautifully to support every single level. Seeing what they did for me and my business, I was like, there's no way I am going to not do it outside of this environment for the second year just because I wanted to. I wanted to be held. I know how to do stuff by myself, but to be held was priceless for me also. And with the second year, the first year, I've hit my first six figures in my business as a personal trainer and a coach. So two incomes combined. So the second year, I was actually able to make more than I did in the first year as a personal trainer and a coach, just as a coach, full time. The other exciting aspect of that, there's so many other Outward, tangible things. But the one I want to highlight too, because I always had passion for creating immersions. The second year of icm, I locked it in to have my first international retreat. Yay.
A
Fun. Where, where are you going?
B
Tulum, Mexico.
A
Yes. Beautiful. That's going to be so incredible. Yeah. What a. What a place to be. And in your space. It will be incredible.
B
Thank you. It's potent. The Mayan jungle is potent.
A
Yes, it is. Yes, it is. And so I really hear that you, throughout your journey, you've just continued to listen to that deeper calling, give yourself permission. Sounds like also doing the inner work and having an outer framework around sales and using business as a personal development path. Having all of that come together continues to allow you to expand and follow your dreams and create these retreats and serve people. And I'm just thinking about those who, you know, they feel the call, they know what they want to do. But there's some kind of hesitation. And if you were looking back to yourself when you were younger, before you got started, and you felt unclear, unsure, what would you tell yourself? What's the wisdom you would have needed to hear?
B
I would tell myself, if you feel the call, do it. Because when this calling comes, it doesn't come just from you. It's your future self guiding you towards where you want to be. And anytime decision comes from that very clean space of service, the space of doing good in the world, you'll always be supported. I like to say the how appears when the decision is clear. That's how it happened for me. It was also a very scary decision for me when I decided I've never invested myself in myself at that level. I've done courses. There were three months that were a few months that, that were like weekends invest in myself. But a year investment, it was something new to me and that was. Was life changing. And that is why I'm a big believer that transformation and healing requires a container. And that first starts with you, that first. If you want to be a coach, that first starts with you going through that experience.
A
Yeah, we heal the world starting with ourselves. Right. It's just one heart, one mind at a time. And we lead with ourselves first. And I just want to honor you for your integrity, to follow your heart, to. To show up for your dreams, not put too much pressure. I really heard that clearly from this that you can choose a graceful path and actually that's way more sustainable. You're not burning out, you're letting it be more like you're recalibrating to this new identity or waking up from the identity of who you thought you were and letting that reflect in your service, in your business. But I, I just hear so many beautiful gems that you've offered us part of your journey. So thank you for your willingness and just for who you are and how you do your own work first and how you are better coach because of that to your clients. It's such a gift to have you in my community, in my world. I know you are blessing your clients with your coaching and I just want to honor you and say thank you for following your heart. I'm glad that it has led you to me and to all of those that you are serving, that you will continue to serve.
B
Thank you. It's such an honor to learn from you and thank you for answering the call yourself and creating something so profound and magical that allows to change the world on such a big scale.

Episode: How She Attracted Dream Coaching Clients in 3 Weeks + Found True Safety
Date: February 8, 2026
This episode is part of the “How They Did It” series and features a transformative conversation between host Alyssa Nobriga and a guest (name not provided) who recounts her remarkable journey from moving to the U.S. from Ukraine at age 19 with $300 and limited English, to becoming a successful coach. Through her vulnerability and wisdom, she shares how she worked through fears, honored her calling, transitioned from survival mode, and rapidly built a thriving coaching business. Alyssa and her guest focus on the integration of inner work (nervous system regulation, self-worth, and safety) with practical business tools (sales as service, the “clarity session” framework), making the conversation both inspiring and actionable.
