Be honest, friend. How many times have you stood in front of your closet second guessing which colors actually look good on you? If you've been told you're a spring or a winter and you still don't feel confident, it's not you, it's the system. And there's a better way. The truth is, color analysis has the power to completely transform your wardrobe. It can be the thing that unlocks your confidence, helps you shop smarter, and finally makes your closet feel cohesive. But only if it's done right. Because the old seasonal systems, while I love, appreciate, and was trained in them, they weren't built for the modern woman. They weren't built for today's diversity of skin tones, lifestyles, or the way we show up everywhere, from Instagram stories to zoom calls to boardrooms. So in this episode, I'm going to walk you through how custom color analysis works differently and why it's the most powerful investment you can make in your wardrobe. Right now. We'll talk about the gaps seasonal systems miss, the freedom a personalized palette actually gives you and how to know if your current color guidance might be holding you back. And then I'll share how you can be one of just 10 women to snag a fully customized color analysis with me this November. Let's dive in. Welcome to her Style podcast, where we're all about empowering you to show up and get dressed every day with confidence. I'm your host, Heather Riggs, a 15 year and counting certified image consultant and color specialist, ready to build a wardrobe and a personal style you love. Let's get started. You probably already know that seasonal color analysis has really exploded again. And I have mixed feelings because on one hand, I love it. I love that women are women recognizing the power of knowing their best colors and being more selective about what they bring into their wardrobes and seeing all of the benefits of having their best colors at hand. But it's also become so commonplace that now I'm starting to see women entering into her style collective or one on one work with me with a lot of color baggage. Some have received palettes that really clash with their preferences and instincts, so they're feeling even more confused now about what to wear. They're trying to force themselves into into colors that they maybe don't necessarily love intuitively. And others have been handed best colors that only look absolutely amazing when they're wearing a full face of bold makeup. Now, I believe that you can make almost any color look good on anyone with the right makeup. And I broke that down. As a strategy in episode number 82, which is how to confidently wear any color you want. I think that is an amazing trick that you can use to look better in all of the colors that you want to wear and that you love. But I also think that your best colors shouldn't require you to wear any makeup at all. And I already spilled all the tea. I don't know if we're still saying that, but I'm still saying that. So I already spilled the tea on why I gave up seasonal color analysis back in episode number three of her style podcast. Don't worry, I always link up all of these related episodes in the show notes for you. So I don't want to rehash all of that again. I really do have a soft spot for seasonal color analysis. It's the foundation of my training. It's something that is always going to be in the back of my mind. And so instead of asking what's wrong with the old systems, I really want to start today with what's possible for you. Because what I have noticed after working with hundreds of women is that when you have the right colors at your fingertips, everything changes. Shopping becomes easier, your outfits come together faster, and the woman in the mirror looks like the very best version of you. But I think that more than a label, what you're craving is color clarity. You want the freedom to trust your instincts instead of second guessing yourself. And you want the confidence of knowing this color was made for me. So I'm on a mission to empower women with the truth that seasonal color analysis can be a great starting point. And it works really well for some people, but it's not the only way. And I also don't think it's the best way. Instead of handing you a formula that worked in the 80s, custom color analysis gives you a personalized roadmap for today. And the transformation isn't just about what you see in the mirror. It's about how you feel when you walk into a meeting, when you show up to speak on a stage, or when you step out for date night. And so I wanna gently point out a few ways that the traditional seasonal analysis systems fall short. Not to tear them down truly, but to highlight why they may not be right for you. And I really and just want to give you options so that you can be empowered with decisions. And you know that there's not just one way of going about this information. So the first thing is the evolution gap. Obviously, fashion and beauty have exploded since the 80s. We have a lot more information available to us now. You can listen to podcasts, you can check ChatGPT, you can look at articles online. And you know that fabrics, dyes, lighting, even photography are all completely different now. And in the fact that we are living in a global and diverse world where skin tones come in so many variations and there's also so much personalization to style and the things that we're wearing, I'm loving the trends right now happening this season because it's almost anything goes. You can wear anything that you want, and you're applauded for that. And I want you to celebrate your preferences in that way. And so you can see why a one size fits all seasonal chart can begin to feel a bit outdated. And another thing is the lifestyle factor. You're not just getting dressed for lunch with your friends anymore. You're showing up on camera, you're presenting at work, you are speaking at networking events, living in hybrid work setups and balancing all of the different hats that you're wearing each day. If you're a wife, a mom, a business owner, seasonal systems don't account for the versatility that you actually need or the personality that goes into choosing your colors and outfits and for all the different things that you have going on in your day. And then that brings me to the final and probably biggest one, which is the psychological factor. Just because a color technically works on you doesn't mean that it feels authentic to you. You might have been told that hot pink is your power color, but if it makes you feel silly instead of strong, you're not really going to wear it. And so you need an assortment of hues that meet not only the demands of your life, but the preferences, your personality. And so your color has to match both your appearance and your identity. And I think often that is the missing link. So I want to give you a couple of quick examples of what I've been seeing recently with women who are coming in to work with me who've already had one or more color analyses done in the past. One client came to me recently after being told that she was in autumn and her palette was full of really vibrant and warm rich tones. I'm talking like vibrant orange, lime green, canary yellow, gorgeous, gorgeous colors that are absolutely swoon worthy. But her husband told her it was the ugliest thing he'd ever seen. And I get that that's his preferences, not hers. But in looking at her style mood board, she really gravitates towards soft, romantic hues with lots of pinks and classic navy and neutral browns and What I found interesting in doing her custom color palette is that has a neutral to cool skin tone with warm brown hair and eyes, so she can actually pull off a wide variety of colors. And her personal coloring is very dynamic, so she can carry those bold tones and she could wear the previous palette that she was given. It wasn't a problem, so to speak. But I actually found that a lot of the deep jewel tones that her husband also prefers, like turquoise and regatta blue and deep plums, look even more beautiful on her the than those super warm tones because they pair so nicely with her skin tone specifically. So she's unique in that she has a really diverse blend of colors that speak to her personal coloring. But I decided to choose the ones for her that best reflect her personality and her preferences as well. And I know that her husband has happily affirmed the new choices. Another client came in with two analyses under her belt. The first time, being told she was a soft autumn. And the second time she was labeled as a warm spring and a true spring. And she actually sent me a slideshow breakdown with the title. It had her name and then it said color identity crisis 2025. And it's kind of funny. And I know she put some laugh, like crying, laughing emojis. But I also, it breaks my heart to see people come in just feeling so utterly confused because they're given all of these different diagnoses and they like different aspects of them. And when I created her custom color palette, I was able to confirm that she is, in fact, a spring autumn crossover, so I could see what all the confusion was about. And that happened for me, too. I think I shared on the podcast when I was going through my color, my seasonal color analysis training, the trainers that trained all of the people gave me two different things. The first time I went through kind of a simpler version of the training, I was deemed a spring. And then when I went for more advanced training with the people who trained that trainer, they gave me a summer palette. And the fact is, I looked good in a combination of those colors, and I loved a combination of those colors. So that can happen too. Sometimes it's not that you're this or that, it's you're this and that. And so it's really important to take a more personalized approach in blending together all of the things that are working so well for you. And so instead of giving this client a third or fourth label to add to the mix, I I just found a good blend of all of her best hues to bring everything together and to Be clear. I do not let my clients show me any of their previous palettes until after I've already given my recommendations because I never want to be swayed or influenced by what they've been told previously. So I'm always up for doing a deep dive analysis like that afterwards if need be. If you were given something very different from what I'm recommending for you, we can absolutely bring that all together and look at it and find a way to merge all of the pieces together so you don't feel like you have to start over. But these stories always reinforce what I believe, which is that, number one, you can wear any color that you want. There are ways to make it work for you and also your best colors. Your best personal color palette is one that blends your personal coloring with your preferences and your personality. You really have to factor in all of those elements in order to make it work. And we already talked about what seasonal systems can miss. So now I want to look at what custom color analysis is going to unlock for you. The first thing is clarity. No more guessing games. You are going to know with certainty what works best for you. You're going to understand your skin tone type, what it is, whether you look best in warm or cool tones or a neutral mix of those colors. If you kind of fall in the middle and you can pull off a larger variety of hues. And you can also see the right level of intensity for you, knowing that if you want to go brighter and bolder, you just need to punch up your makeup to make it match. I never want you to feel overpowered by your clothing. I want your clothing to highlight you, not the other way around. You're also going to get freedom. You can experiment confidently instead of feeling boxed in. I also believe that your color palette is meant to be a starting point, not the end all, be all. I don't want you to ever say, oh, I guess these are the only 35 colors that I can wear. I actually want you to be able to accept, expand on that and add colors into the mix with confidence, as you feel called to. So if you see something else out there that you absolutely love, you can just look at your color palette and say, does this work together? Is this going to mix easily with the other pieces in my wardrobe? If so, that's great. And it's probably going to also make me look and feel my best. If it looks like it's a complete outlier, I might want to think twice before I bring it in, or maybe just do it in a smaller dose. Or accent. And the third thing that you're going to get, and this is probably not an exhaustive list, but this might be the most important thing, is confidence. You're going to be able to wear colors that not only look and feel right, but that were individually hand chosen for you. I use Photoshop to design my digital palette, so I can literally pick the exact color code that flatters you best. I'm not limited in my options of what I can give you, and you shouldn't be limited in your options of what you can wear either. Again, this isn't about giving you a label. It's about liberating you to choose your colors with confidence and empowerment. And so, to sum all of this up, here's where I want you to think differently. A custom color analysis isn't just about looking good. It's a smart investment for your wardrobe. I want you to think about it. You are going to save so much money because you're going to stop buying clothes that never leave the hanger that you put on and then immediately take off because you feel like there's something off about it. It's going to simplify your shopping because you can instantly spot what belongs in your palette. You're going to multiply your outfit options because everything in your palette works together more seamlessly. So you can literally grab any two pieces out of your closet and know that they're not only going to look great together, but they're going to look amazing on you. And maybe most importantly, if you are a busy woman, it's going to help you get ready faster in the morning because your colors will work beautifully for you with or without makeup. And no second guessing again, you can grab anything out of your closet when it works with your color palette. And just get dressed with so much ease. I'm not kidding when I say it's like unlocking a cheat code for your wardrobe. Suddenly, your closet isn't a source of stress.
