The theme and focus of this chapter is taking a look at how we become trapped in patterns of wanting – constantly seeking external validation, possessions, and acceptance to feel complete.

The offering here reveals how these very longings end up owning us through our fears and attachments. We are reminded of a fundamental truth we often forget: we already are whole and complete just as we are. We’re reminded that true liberation comes not from acquiring more, but from releasing our attachments to external belongings and recognizing that we already belong to something greater: the Divine.

Through this process, we can learn how to become free from the servitude of longing – which we discussed in the previous chapter. We become free from waiting for something outside ourselves to make us feel whole.

This is The Liberation of Longing.
