Brady
The old method of treatment for a person in this condition was to.
Dick Toledo
Throw him in jail.
Brady
That is how you bring a cannibal into your neighborhood. Perfect, fine, young cannibal. Letting him know it's a good thing. Because I guess that's the world we live in now where we have to not go crazy when a cannibal is set free. I don't know. Is it me or is it society? Is it what's going on? And on Jackie Gleason's birthday bread. What in the world did this word come into? You seem a lot taller on the radio. Cannibal. How old would Jackie have been? 120. You have the paper?
Cody
108, I think.
Brady
Was it too far to dig?
Cody
No, I just remember the date. I think he was born. 1916. I was trying to do the math.
Brady
It's 109.
Cody
109?
Brady
Yeah. It's close. It's pretty good. God. My grandpa was born in 1908. He had my dad when he was really old, though. But he's older than Jackie Gleason. Jackie Gleason. Been dead for a while. It's 10 o'clock. It's time for the entertainment drill. It's brought to you by our friends@reactdefense.com, the home of tactical black self defense training. I've seen a couple videos here. People are sending me that stuff and it is outrageous when you see somebody who's well trained handle a situation. I told you about the one yesterday. The guy was swinging a bat. Another guy didn't realize that he was about to get beat up. We saw the one this morning where the guy flexed on someone else in a road rage incident. Banged on the car door and waving his gun around. The guy inside the car had a gun. You don't know what you're getting into. Don't pull that crap. I watched that show Body Cam on id and almost every single time you see this happen, you realize this could have been avoided with any sort of training at all, Any sort of de escalation situation. There was one yesterday where a guy, these motorcycle riders were for no reason at all blocking an entrance. And instead of just going around going, there's four or five of them at each entrance. That's like 12. There's one of me. Probably not my best moment to sit and go, you can't do this move. A bunch of Hell's Angels looking dudes and a couple of like guys on squiddies. But for the most part it's. They're up to no good. And they're blocking the entrance into where he needed to be. And it was just a convenience store. You gotta move. And the guy's like, you go, get outta here. He's like, no. And he starts to like ram him with the car. So all the bikes go and pull him out of the car and start hitting with a big wrench, like one of those giant pipe wrenches, the ones that fix like semi truck pipe wrench. Huge. It was this big. I didn't know what a pipe wrench is. It's huge. It was like a crescent, usually red. Only it was no, it was like a real craftsman. Like I would have it, but I don't have anything I need to open that big. And they start hitting him with it. And the cop with the body cam was like, this could have been avoided. This really could have been avoided if it had just kept going. It's like, God, that's the best self defense in the world is avoidance. I had another one this morning. We were watching Marlon Perkins wrestle that anaconda. What would tackle tactical black tell you to do there? Not get into water with an anaconda. It's easy to avoid these situations. Most of the time we place ourselves in a situation where need to defend ourselves. It's more often where we are not what's happening. And there's so many ways to avoid it. But if you do find yourself in a pickle, why not know some stuff? That's the best thing you can do. And you can do it for the price. $199 for personal training. Two months. That gets you two months introductory, basically looking at it going, that's two months of introducing myself to all the stuff. They've got the cardio classes, the bag classes, the self defense stuff, everything. They've got that plane, they got the seminars. You check it all out@reactdefense.com. can't beat the price, cannot beat the training. You're going to be in great shape and you're going to learn something about yourself. Start being a sheepdog. Stop being a sheep. Start being smart. It's reactdefense.com the home of tactical Black Brady Entertainment.
Cody
A marketing firm says Taylor Swift brings $1 billion in publicity to the NFL. They said even the bad. You know, people booing creates conversation.
Brady
Yeah. So there's basically exposure. NFL gets attention. That costs a certain amount of money.
Cody
Yep.
Brady
Especially her audience. 250 million social media followers. That's massive. That's ridiculous. You can't even.
Dick Toledo
You can't like 5% of the world's population.
Brady
Yeah. Do you know how? I don't know if that's accurate or not. Maybe I can't do math that fast. Probably okay. I just threw it out. But you know how much money it would cost if our audience was 250 million people to advertise on this show?
Dick Toledo
Man.
Brady
And it's just a mere mention of your company.
Dick Toledo
It's that based on small percentage of.
Brady
Someone acts on that third of people remember the name. Wow. Let alone act on if a third. Just remember it. It's branding. You can't buy anyone 80 million. You can't even get that. You can't get those numbers with the Super Bowl.
Dick Toledo
Yeah.
Brady
You get 120 million on Super Bowl, 240 million eyeballs on Taylor Swift's social media accounts. It's crazy.
Cody
Tyler, the creator treated tweeted the other day.
Brady
That's your guy?
Cody
Yeah. He said, yo, when you see me, don't be asking me questions like, remember, why are you here in this major city or are you running a house here? He just says I'm not your friend.
Brady
Yeah, he's not.
Cody
Are you a cop?
Brady
Yeah. People don't feel like being approached by strangers. That's true of celebrity too.
Larry
Brady.
Brady
Yep. Brady, do you hear Tyler, the creator.
Cody
That goes a dumb question.
Brady
No. You're not going to ask him a question at all. God, we need Dr. Rick for you so bad.
Dick Toledo
We need the Brady version of I feel like I've been stabbed in the house.
Brady
I guarantee you. Why are you here in this major city? If anybody asked me that, it'd be like, that guy's crazy.
Larry
Well, if Tyler came to Gilbert, they would say that.
Brady
No one would say major city. Why are you hearing this? They think it is major error. That's true.
Dick Toledo
They do.
Brady
They do find it to be like a metropolitan. The metropolis known as Gilbert.
Cody
Ozzy's doing a documentary For Paramount plus called no Escape From Now. It'll premiere later this year. Says the last six years have been full of some of the worst times I've been through. There's been times where I thought my number was up. I think he's been thinking about that for a while.
Brady
We have been for him. The fact Ozzie's still alive is shocking in about 33 different ways.
Cody
Today's the 10th anniversary of the dress. Remember that? Oh, the people got it. White or gold.
Brady
That's only been 10 years. I thought that was longer. I figured 10 years ago was the hot dog sandwich, not sandwich thing. Huh.
Cody
Liam Gallagher was. They're getting ready to Tour to do 41 dates. Someone said, how long will the set their Oasis.
Brady
Right?
Cody
Oasis. That's right.
Brady
We'll finish your sentences.
Cody
And he says, it'll be long. The person said it'll be longer than an hour. Right?
Brady
The show.
Cody
Yeah. He said 59 minutes. 59 seconds.
Brady
Being a dick.
Cody
Yeah. So Oasis, is he being funny or.
Brady
Probably not.
Larry
Depends on when they get in a fight.
Brady
Yeah, that's exactly it.
Larry
I mean.
Brady
Yeah. What time that they stop getting along on stage. You got another 10 minutes before at least one guy leaves. Remember that one show they did for MTV where Liam sat up in the balcony and watched Oasis play? He wouldn't sing.
Larry
I miss that.
Brady
And his brother Noel did all the songs and did them great. And even Liam at the end goes, evidently the do need me through this thing. And he threw a big fit and he goes, but I write all the songs. And then he got mad, started saying that he's. He's paying four different dudes all the royalties of songs that he's writing and putting together. He can do this himself. Those two will hate each other. Oh, again, Watch.
Larry
What's the fan do on the tour? Happening all the way through.
Brady
It's gonna be tight. But I said that about Guns N Roses. And they for seven or eight years now, on time, they're playing it. Right. So maybe Oasis grew up a little.
Cody
Maybe the Rocklahoma 2025 lineup's been announced. Some Labor Day weekend, Shinedown, Five Finger Breaking, Benjamin, Three Days Grace.
Brady
Wow. It's all the same band.
Cody
Your guy. Alice Cooper.
Brady
Oh, God, I'm out.
Cody
Oops. Bruce Dickinson. Hey, the Darkness.
Dick Toledo
Wait a minute. Just Bruce?
Cody
Yep.
Brady
He's not with the rest. He's just gonna. Spoken word. High pitched spoken word.
Cody
Tickets go on sale on Friday.
Dick Toledo
Does he get to fly the plane when it's just him?
Brady
Bruce? Yeah, it's a good question.
Larry
It's a lot smaller plane.
Brady
The dinghy does planes have dinghy's. I think he gets them.
Larry
He's flying that one. That the Southwest Airlines Chicago.
Brady
Would you go to that John? That's not a very good lineup for Rocklahoma. Rocklahoma usually has a pretty. It's okay but it's like that sounds like something that could come through any town. Shine down. Five finger and three doors down or whatever it was three days.
Dick Toledo
One of our youths.
Brady
Yeah, we could do that, huh? I mean there's 75 bands and those are the top ones. Oh my God.
Larry
Maybe the Pussycat's playing. You can go check them out there.
Brady
I'd go see Faster Cat in Oklahoma just for the crowd. I want to see oklahoma faster cat.
Cody
311. That's gonna be.
Brady
Oh God. Oh geez. I'll kill myself before. I hope I'm on the. On the Runway when my plane lands. I hope there's another plane there to avoid.
Cody
311 and a bunch of solo guys that are in like Tom Morello, D. Snyder just.
Brady
I think they're just gonna do Rolling up Hanging out. Morello can do some stuff by himself but. All right. That's interesting. All right. Well that's it. Larry's coming up next. I think he's. He's got you fest tickets for you. For our you Fest. Which is better than Rocklahoma. That's Rockholm is okay. It's good. The bands are good. I just. You expect that to be just explosive because it's a one off. It's good. Saw Shine down in Vegas at the mgm. Good.
Larry
Don't bully them.
Brady
We left a little early. You're right. I am kind of being a bully. They're very sensitive. We're done. Larry's next. He's got you Fest tickets for you and many other things. Be nice to Larry. He'll be nice back. We're done. We'll see you tomorrow right here in the morning sickness. So long.
Dick Toledo
It's not weird. It's pretty cool actually. No membership fees.
Brady
I have heard enough of this.
Holmberg's Morning Sickness - Arizona: February 26, 2025 Episode Summary
On the February 26, 2025 episode of Holmberg's Morning Sickness on Arizona's #1 Morning Radio Show, host John Holmberg, along with co-hosts Brady Bogen, Bret Vesely, and Dick Toledo, delves into a range of entertaining and thought-provoking topics. This episode primarily focuses on the significant impact of Taylor Swift on the NFL's marketing strategies and the latest announcements for the Rocklahoma 2025 lineup. Additionally, the hosts engage in lively discussions surrounding celebrity interactions, upcoming documentaries, and memorable internet phenomena.
The episode kicks off with an intriguing discussion on Taylor Swift's remarkable contribution to the NFL's marketing efforts. Cody introduces a marketing firm's startling claim that Swift has generated $1 billion in publicity for the NFL. He emphasizes that even negative reactions, such as booing, enhance conversation and visibility around the league.
Brady elaborates on the sheer scale of Swift's influence, noting her 250 million social media followers. At [04:30], he remarks, "That's massive. That's ridiculous." This colossal audience provides the NFL with unparalleled exposure, far surpassing traditional advertising methods.
Dick Toledo adds perspective by comparing Swift's reach to conventional advertising metrics. At [05:10], he states, "You can't like 5% of the world's population," highlighting the inefficiency and cost of achieving similar exposure through standard campaigns. The hosts agree that Swift's ability to engage such a vast audience presents an invaluable branding opportunity for the NFL, potentially eclipsing even the Super Bowl's advertising prowess.
Transitioning to music, Cody brings attention to the Rocklahoma 2025 lineup announcement. The festival is set to feature prominent bands such as Shinedown, Five Finger Death Punch, Breaking Benjamin, and Three Days Grace. Brady expresses skepticism about the lineup's diversity, suggesting that the bands chosen are somewhat homogenous in style.
At [09:25], Brady humorously questions, "Would you go to that John? That's not a very good lineup for Rocklahoma." This prompts a back-and-forth among the hosts about the festival's appeal compared to past years. They reminisce about memorable performances and express cautious optimism about the event's execution, considering the lineup's potential to attract a dedicated fan base.
The conversation shifts to celebrity interactions, sparked by Tyler, the Creator's recent tweet. Cody mentions that Tyler tweeted, "When you see me, don't be asking me questions like, remember, why are you here in this major city or are you running a house here? I'm not your friend." This leads Brady to comment on the discomfort people feel when approached by strangers, including celebrities, highlighting the importance of respecting personal boundaries.
Brady muses, "If anybody asked me that, it'd be like, that guy's crazy," reflecting on the challenges celebrities face in maintaining privacy amidst fame. The hosts agree that setting clear boundaries is essential for both celebrities and their admirers.
Cody updates listeners on Ozzy Osbourne's upcoming documentary for Paramount Plus titled "No Escape From Now," scheduled to premiere later in the year. Ozzy shares that the past six years have been particularly challenging, conveying a sense of introspection and resilience.
The hosts also touch upon the 10th anniversary of "the dress," the viral phenomenon that sparked widespread debate over its color perception—whether it was white and gold or blue and black. Brady quips, "I thought that was longer. I figured 10 years ago was the hot dog sandwich, not sandwich thing." This lighthearted banter underscores the enduring nature of viral internet debates.
A significant portion of the episode is dedicated to Liam Gallagher's tour announcements and his ongoing feud with his brother, Noel Gallagher of Oasis. The hosts discuss Liam's recent statements about the tour's length, with Brady recounting, "Liam ... he writes all the songs. And then he got mad, started saying that he's paying four different dudes all the royalties..." This feud has been a longstanding source of tension, impacting performances and fan expectations.
Larry adds a nostalgic touch, recalling past Oasis performances and the duo's dynamic. The discussion reflects on how personal conflicts can influence professional endeavors, particularly in the high-stakes world of music tours.
Rocklahoma 2025 Band Additions: The hosts speculate on possible additional bands for Rocklahoma 2025, mentioning Pussycat and 311 among others. Brady humorously comments, "That's gonna be tight," expressing enthusiasm while also acknowledging the challenges of expanding the lineup.
Festival Comparisons: Comparing Rocklahoma to other festivals like You Fest, the hosts debate which event holds more appeal, ultimately expressing a preference for Rocklahoma's explosive atmosphere and diverse band selection.
Ticket Promotions: Larry teases listeners with upcoming ticket giveaways for You Fest, promising opportunities to attend events that rival the excitement of Rocklahoma.
As the episode winds down, the hosts emphasize the importance of engaging with their audience and staying informed about upcoming events and entertainment news. Brady humorously reprimands himself for being "a bit of a bully," while Cody and Dick Toledo reinforce the show's commitment to delivering quality content.
