Earthbound is a spoken word story about my near-death experience.

It began in the ocean

rippling—

through my body

ten years

When I came to, my body was already swimming to shore—instinct lead. I remember emerging from the water… Then there was terror, disorientation, and an encounter with a benevolent being.

This experience doesn’t live in memory alone

It lives in the hard bone and soft tissue of my soma

Some days—

haunting

Others—

enlivening

I’ve held this story close to my heart, but now, I feel grateful for the opportunity of creative release.

As I write… I’m remembering the value of claiming and sharing our personal lore. Our strangest, most challenging, and most mystical encounters shape us into the kaleidoscopic, divinely human beings we are. Our stories don’t have to cage us — they can set us free. Power in choice and voice.
