Two priests, two countries, one topic. Fr. Michael and Fr. Darryl dive into the upcoming Sunday Mass readings and discuss all things ‘homilies’.

Fr. Darryl and Fr. Michael discuss St. Paul’s famous passage that, if you’ve ever been to a wedding, you have about a 95% chance of having heard. But in this Sunday’s readings we hear it outside the context of a wedding. Join the Fathers as they dive into this reading along with the Gospel for this Sunday and brainstorm some ideas for homilies.

Fr. Darryl and Fr. Michael talk about the first Sunday that occurs in Ordinary Time, which isn’t the First Sunday in Ordinary Time but rather the Second Sunday…and the confusion of dates and days continues from there! A very popular Gospel reading, the Wedding at Cana, provides a lot of inspiration for homily ideas. Come have a listen.

Fr. Darryl and Fr. Michael do a little deep dive into the liturgical calendar around Gospel antiphons, pre-Vatican II calendars, and the upcoming feast of this Sunday- the Baptism of the Lord. Then, they finally get around to the readings and talk about homily ideas for the feast of the Baptism of the Lord. Come have a listen.

Advent is here, which means a new liturgical season and a new Gospel for the readings. In this episode Fr. Darryl and Fr. Michael discuss what it means to be “on the way” with the early Church, running out to greet our Lord, and other ideas for homilies for this week’s readings and prayers. Come have a listen.

Were you looking for a peaceful, soul raising, calming Gospel and scripture readings? Sorry, not gonna get that this weekend. As we move towards the end of the liturgical year Fr. Darryl and Fr. Michael dive into the topic of apocalyptic literature, the nature of religious signs, and trying to know the day and hour. Come have a listen and join in the conversation!

Fr. Darryl and Fr. Michael had two very different initial reactions to this Sunday’s readings, from Disney’s Aladdin to a couple of thieves. Plus snow?! Already?! Come have a listen and join in the conversation about this Sunday’s scriptures!

Come have a listen as Fr. Darryl and Fr. Michael discuss this Sunday’s readings, and witness for yourself as the inspiration of the Holy Spirit strikes as both Fr. Darryl and Fr. Michael come up with the same saint to reference among the thousands of saints….and then watch Fr. Michael decide to go with a different saint!

Fr. Darryl and Fr. Michael look at this week’s Gospel- an exhortation from Jesus to remove sin, wherever we find it, from our lives. Plus….Origen and an infamous story about this Gospel. Come have a listen.

What’s going on outside the windows? Fr. Darryl and Fr. Michael quickly end this conversation and begin to look at the Gospel for this week, which seemingly has two distinct parts. Ranging from how children are different than adults in the spiritual life to being saved in moments of not having anything for a homily, come have a listen to what Fr. Darryl and Fr. Michael think about these readings!

Fr. Darryl and Fr. Michael hit the halfway point of the Gospel of Mark, where Jesus makes a distinct turn from revealing who He is, to beginning to reveal what who he is actually means. It brings with it a big question- namely, who do we actually say Jesus Christ is? Plus, learn about one of Fr. Darryl and Fr. Michael’s favorite made up holiday!
