Connor Wood
Hello. Ciao. Thanks for having me. I'm so excited to be here.
Alex Earl
Wait, did I just turn that off? How do I get that back on? I'm a hot mess. Wait, I'm actually mad at you.
Connor Wood
Why? Actually, this is how we're gonna start.
Alex Earl
We just did the Nicole Kidman didn't know last time when I went on BNC that you guys were cracking jokes and they were going right over my head. And I did not know until I was getting flamed and they were like, this dumb. Has no idea.
Connor Wood
You looked at the comments then.
Alex Earl
Yeah, I looked at the comments and I thought it was going to be like, wow, look at this good banter.
Connor Wood
I thought it was good banter, too. It takes a second to get warmed up.
Alex Earl
I still don't understand the jokes that you guys made.
Connor Wood
Well, because they're bad. Yeah, they're bad jokes. They're not good jokes. I can't remember, like, any specific ones, but it, like, takes a second. That's why it helps so much when we, like, sit before. We've been sitting here talking for.
Alex Earl
We've been. We keep topping top, top, top shop. We've been talking, keep stopping ourselves from talking because I was like, we have to save it until we actually sit down. But more importantly, how have you been.
Connor Wood
I've been good. I was 15 minutes late. Luckily, you guys were 20.
Alex Earl
And he's like, hey, so I'm 15 minutes late. I was like, yeah, we're, like, 30 behind.
Connor Wood
That's. That was awesome for me. We got to touch base. I got to get a feel for the space. And I already had done a full podcast episode in the car with my Uber, who let me know, like, about his whole life.
Alex Earl
Do you like when Ubers talk to you?
Connor Wood
Like, depends how many drinks I've had.
Alex Earl
Okay. I'm really freaked out by the cars that have no person driving the way Mouse I would. You ever get one of those? Because there's no way.
Connor Wood
I would love to.
Alex Earl
No.
Connor Wood
I keep forgetting that. That's on my. That's on my list of things that I need to do. It's like, call Graham on try Waymo. But I would love to get hit by a Waymo.
Alex Earl
What, like, hot take for the money.
Connor Wood
Yeah. Like, I feel like. Like, no one gets in trouble. Like, there's not, like, a driver that would lose their job. It's just, like, a car Now I'm starting to feel bad for a car, but I would. Yeah, I think that'd be, like, the perfect I accident.
Alex Earl
I hope that you don't get hit by a. Oh, yeah, me too.
Connor Wood
I don't want to get injured.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
I just want to get, like, a little lawsuit going. I've never sued anybody. I'm interested in trying. That's also on my bucket list.
Alex Earl
Oh, that's good.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
Have you ever been sued?
Connor Wood
I've never been sued yet. Never say never.
Alex Earl
I guess I need to talk about this for a second is I don't know if I can drink coffee anymore because I have about three coffees a day, and something this past, like, two weeks has taken over me where if I have a coffee, I'm freaking out. Like, right now, I'm freaking out.
Connor Wood
Yeah, I think it's those ice iced coffees. I really think they've started to increase the. The amount of.
Alex Earl
But I can't stop drinking them.
Connor Wood
Caffeine in them. Maybe try decaf. You reach a certain age where, like, decaf really starts to enter, I guess, enter your life in a real way.
Alex Earl
And, like, I don't know. I guess I could try for the new year to do some, like, matcha or something. Do you have New Year's resolutions?
Connor Wood
I do. And I want to start moving in silence.
Alex Earl
What does that mean?
Connor Wood
Like, just. I. I want to start, like, moving in silence. It's hard to explain it's kind of like under the radar. Be a little more mysterious.
Alex Earl
Oh, like low key. Well, that could be good if Tick Tock gets banned.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
And what are your thoughts on that? Because when this episode comes out, it's going to be past January 19th, so it may be banned.
Connor Wood
I. I think somebody's gonna buy it. I really hope. I kind of don't want Elon Musk to buy it.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
So I haven't been liking the vibes on Twitter.
Alex Earl
I don't use Twitter.
Connor Wood
I would say probably you don't need Twitter. It's like an unnecessary additional app to have. I will say there's a new app that people are downloading and it's an even more Chinese app.
Alex Earl
Red Note. Downloaded it last night. Don't understand a thing. Chinese.
Connor Wood
So I downloaded it this morning because I was like, I'm not going to be the person that's, like, I'm not adapting to the new, you know, things that people are doing. But the first thing it said is like, hey, we're going to sell. We're going to use your data, like, a lot. And I was like, I don't know what that means still. So I said, hang on, let me ask Alex. So you're gung ho on, like, I'm gonna do Red Note.
Alex Earl
Did you not, like, sign up?
Connor Wood
Like, no, I didn't go past the. I downloaded it and then it said.
Alex Earl
We'Re gonna use your data.
Connor Wood
Yeah. And it said, allow or don't allow? And I said, hold up.
Alex Earl
Are you joking right now? Is this another prank?
Connor Wood
No, no, no, no.
Alex Earl
Because I definitely hit allow because I made an account.
Connor Wood
Yeah. Yeah. So now that you did it, I mean, whatever. If. If you're going down, like, I'm. Who am I to not go down with you?
Alex Earl
I downloaded Lemonade.
Connor Wood
I've heard of Lemonade.
Alex Earl
It. I don't like it.
Connor Wood
Okay.
Alex Earl
Not to be a Debbie Downer. Sally's Lemonade is I'm a prostitute.
Connor Wood
Oh. Everyone follows Sally.
Alex Earl
So Sally got hacked this week. Her TikTok got hacked and we were, like, trying to get this hacker out, whatever. All of a sudden it turns the account name to I'm a prostitute.
Connor Wood
Oh.
Alex Earl
And then it starts posting P porn. That's also our new thing. Instead of nimming, because, I don't know, my version of nimming is, I'll say, like, the one letter and then say the word. So you would be like, c. Connor. But you don't just say, see, like, you tell them what it is. You let them think for A second and then you tell them. So I'd be like, g, I'm h hungry.
Connor Wood
Yeah. Okay. I think nimming has. Has gone, like, completely gone away now, because that's just telling me.
Alex Earl
But it's just abbreviations.
Connor Wood
That's a briefs.
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
That's a briefs.
Alex Earl
A breeze. A briefs. So Sally's a P prostitute. So they're in there and they're going through, like, our DMS and stuff. And I was like, oh, shit. Because, like, you know when you, like, talk shit and send TikToks, I was like, what's in there? But they were DMing other people on there. And Sally's mom's like, take these down. Like, she's getting mad at her. And she's like, I can.
Connor Wood
You can always download RedNote and you could lock down I'm a prostitute as your username early so that they can't change it to that. Have you ever been like, I don't even want to say that. That's scarier to me than getting hit by the waymo.
Alex Earl
Oh, getting hacked.
Connor Wood
Because I don't know what I would do. I've been, like, locked out because I'll have, like, my phone and I'll log in. Every time I log in somewhere and my phone's like, hey, there's been a mysterious login. I immediately forget that I just logged in and I'm like, oh, changing all of my passwords everywhere. Yeah. I don't know. That freaks me out.
Alex Earl
Yeah. So you, like, if someone were to hack your phone, would you be in trouble?
Connor Wood
I don't think I would be in trouble, but I, like, would be so embarrassed as soon as they post the Buy one Get one Ray Ban sale on my page. I've curated it pretty well. Do you know what I'm talking about?
Alex Earl
Oh, I do, actually.
Connor Wood
That's.
Alex Earl
I feel like my friends fall for those all the time.
Connor Wood
It's the funniest thing in the world when someone else posts. Hey, hold up. I just found the best sale.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
And I'm now repping the Buy one Get one Ray Ban sale. But if I posted, I genuinely, like, I loosely thinking about that happening to me. And it's very, like, such a specific problem to have for me and a really privileged problem to have. That. That's my. One of my biggest fears. But it is what it is. I'm laying it out.
Alex Earl
I'm being trans is not fun. I was hacked this summer.
Connor Wood
You got hacked?
Alex Earl
I don't, like, I can't talk about it or I'm going To have to have a pee panic attack and leave.
Connor Wood
A pa. Yeah, cuz it's the coffee talking.
Alex Earl
No, just a pee.
Connor Wood
Oh, just a pee.
Alex Earl
It's just the first and then whatever you say after it.
Connor Wood
There's a full other word there. I'm like, there's a lot of flaws in this new game that you guys play. Like it doesn't.
Alex Earl
It's just like to just. It's just for fun.
Connor Wood
Luckily you guys have enough like close friends in your group that you don't really have to really explain that to anyone else. Cuz you guys are all on the same page. I know.
Alex Earl
I love how we're just in conversation with Sally.
Connor Wood
Oh, sorry Sally. I need to look. I'm so used.
Alex Earl
Sally, you're distracting Connor.
Connor Wood
On the. Yeah, sorry. On the. On our podcast that you came on that I think now you've said has been a. Was a. Was just an eye opening experience.
Alex Earl
I thought I had the best time on your podcast and until I saw the social clips and my friends were like, hey Alex, like you're dumb as. Because all they were doing was like cracking jokes and like you just completely. This went over your head.
Connor Wood
So did they realize during the recording, like when they were sitting there? Who? Like Kristen?
Alex Earl
I don't think so. So I think they're hypocrites. H. Hypocrites.
Connor Wood
Oh H Major H. I mean I thought we had a good time too. I was so excited when we posted it. And then I started seeing the comments like, wow, she didn't. And I was like, I wasn't even making a joke there.
Alex Earl
So whatever, that's fine. I hope you get roasted from this.
Connor Wood
I will. Because the first couple minutes of this podcast were illegible.
Alex Earl
No, we're going to have to cut this whole episode.
Connor Wood
I know this happens, by the way. This is like not going to be a new thing.
Alex Earl
Foreign. Let's be honest, after a night of drinking, it's tough to recover the next day. You usually have to choose between enjoying a great night or feeling good the next day. But now with zbiotics, pre alcohol, you don't have to choose. Their prebiotic was invented by PhD scientists to tackle rough mornings after drinking. Here's how it works. When you drink, alcohol gets converted into a toxic byproduct in the gut. It's this byproduct, not dehydration, that's to blame for your rough next day. Pre alcohol produces an enzyme to break this byproduct down. And this is a proactive solution that wards off feeling miserable the next day. Instead of a reactive approach like drinking electrolytes or eating greasy food. Go to zebiotics.com hot mess to learn more and get 15% off your first order when you use Hot Mess at checkout. Thank you, ZBiotics, for sponsoring this episode and our good times. I know it's the new year and everyone's feeling very motivated. They have a lot of goals for themselves. And personally, something for me, just like insane that happened over the past year was being able to sell this Hot Mess merch to you guys. We've done that all through Shopify. I actually started using Shopify way back when when I had my second job working at a boutique in New Jersey. But Shopify is a commerce platform that allows you to start, grow, manage a business. It can be like a side hustle or a storefront. You can sell online or in person. It's globally direct, wholesale, desktop to mobile. They make it super, super easy. Like, trust me, if I'm doing it, you can do it too. And I know we all live on our phones with Shopify, so you can like tag and sell your products across all major social media platforms and you can sell wherever your customers are. I personally started using Shopify. I think this was like my sophomore year of high school. And it was always so inspiring to me, the boutique I worked. I'd always wanted to be able to sell my own sweatsets one day because that's what they sold. And being able to do this is just so crazy with the help Shopify. So this is your sign to start your journey as an entrepreneur. Head to shopify.com hot mess and see how easy it is to get started.
Connor Wood
There's going to be a lot of comments are like, why is he on at all? And also doesn't make sense. Anytime I'm on a podcast, people are like, he diagnosing me with stuff. They're like, he needs medication. But why adhd?
Alex Earl
Oh, I know we discussed this on bnc, but like, can we talk about the black aura?
Connor Wood
We can talk about the black aura. Yeah. Alex and I went out one night. Well, I was actually meeting you guys out earlier in the day.
Alex Earl
We met you out and we were like, you were with our friend H H. And we were like, oh, my gosh, Fibs.
Connor Wood
Yeah. And I couldn't wait to because I hadn't met you guys in person. I followed everybody, like, knew who everybody was, but I hadn't met you guys in person. And we had gone. We came from Summer House because we were over there with our Buddy Wet W. West. And we came over and I was like I don't want to you know like drink at somewhere else because I want to like go out and go to the. Where were we?
Alex Earl
I don't remember. Taphouse. I might have just made that up.
Connor Wood
I want to say World Market but that's like oh no, we weren't at World Market.
Alex Earl
Common Ground.
Connor Wood
Common Ground. And ran into you guys. Great time to start. And then something happened and I think I know what happened.
Alex Earl
Okay, but do you want to say what you think happened?
Connor Wood
No, I just like think okay that I think people will get out there probably.
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
I think someone.
Alex Earl
Something happened and evil and yeah. The rest of the night was a blur.
Connor Wood
It was a movie. It was a Red Note video. There's a video on Red Note?
Alex Earl
Yeah. It was kind of scary. Like I woke up and was like. I don't know like about this Connor.
Connor Wood
I don't blame you. I really was like well that was great.
Alex Earl
And then when I met you again I was like okay. So it was just that night I.
Connor Wood
Truly was like well that was great to meet them. For 15 minutes all I remembered and h felt completely flat onto like the biggest pizza I've ever seen.
Alex Earl
Yeah. Can we tell this story again?
Connor Wood
Yeah. Well so Hunter, you're going to have.
Alex Earl
To tell it because I, I don't. I wasn't there for it. All I have from this story is Sally.
Connor Wood
From what I understand Hunter, someone ordered a pizza and Hunter is like six, four big dude just was Dan. We were all dancing. He felt just flat onto like the largest double stuffed basil pizza that I've ever seen. And like I got back on into the area we were standing in and I was like what? And I look around and I think Sally or Kristen or somebody maybe Ashton was like Hunter felt like dead ass.
Alex Earl
That Hunter just like flattened across this like massive pizza.
Connor Wood
Like full blown. So if you're, if you're not watching, if you're listening like full blown as if he was like levitated and then placed but smushed this pizza. And he asked the, the.
Alex Earl
He asked the pee and he smelled like basil.
Connor Wood
Anytime I would leave, leave and be like away from the area I'd be like where's Hunter?
Alex Earl
He's.
Connor Wood
He's over here. Hunter been here.
Alex Earl
Such a big guy. How he like fell.
Connor Wood
He's clumsy. He was. Whatever happened happened to about nine of us.
Alex Earl
Yeah, it was your whole group.
Connor Wood
It was, it was a dark aura that, that revealed itself in my bed. Oh that next that, that evening. No, by the way not another person. It was whatever I had to drink.
Alex Earl
Consumed. Yeah.
Connor Wood
Anyways, move forward. And it's so good. It's so nice. And this is what I say about first impressions. They can be bad. You deserve. I think everyone deserves a second impression.
Alex Earl
Yeah. No, you didn't. Speaking from experience, your nickname after we first met you was Black Aura.
Connor Wood
Wow. Oh, my gosh. Yeah. I don't. Yeah, that makes sense. I just think that, like, I do that a lot where people are like, first impressions are so important. I'm a huge second impression. Hey. Third impression. If it gets there. The person where it's like, if you meet someone the first time, sometimes I've had too much coffee even, and I'll be a freak.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
And then second time, you meet me and I'm moving in silence.
Alex Earl
100. I've had times where people think that I'm just, like, a. Because I can be shy, and they'll take that as, like, bitchiness. So sometimes I. Like a second and third time, it takes me a few times to warm up to someone.
Connor Wood
You are shy.
Alex Earl
Really? Yeah, I am.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
But people don't. People never think.
Connor Wood
I wasn't expecting that. No. At all. But then this is. This has been happening to me a little bit. People are like, wow, Connor was cool like that. I'm like, what do I have? Like, what do I give off when.
Alex Earl
People are like, oh, you're actually nice.
Connor Wood
They say that to you. It's like, what?
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
And then it makes you second guess, like, how am I being perceived online when it's like, what. What vibe am I giving off where you're, like, shocked when I'm enjoyable to be around?
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
Can I shift my. My black aura online, too, to, like, get away from that?
Alex Earl
No. This is. We're going to show a whole new side of you today. I feel like there's so many girls on the Internet that are in love with you, and I have some of your comments that are pulled up of what ladies say about you. So we want to know, like, what it's like to date Connor. So. Okay, so here are some things that people say about you, and these are in your comments. You're actually cool, addicted to this young man for real. I need him like a worm needs dirt. My tubes are tied with this young man. Connor, do you do weddings? As in being mine?
Connor Wood
That's gorgeous.
Alex Earl
Like, that's really nice.
Connor Wood
That is really nice. So addicted to this young man is actually something that I said on our podcast. There's a young man who was singing have you seen the Nemo song? Play the Nemo the musical. Finding Nemo the musical.
Alex Earl
No.
Connor Wood
There's a musical based on Finding Nemo.
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
One of my F's favorite movies and.
Alex Earl
Good.
Connor Wood
Thanks. I'm good. I did it. That was. And the young man that plays Nemo sings this song. It's a ballad, even if I may. And it goes, where's my dad? I'm all alone. I can't remember the rest, but it's.
Alex Earl
You have a great voice.
Connor Wood
Thanks. I was so.
Alex Earl
Ladies. You can sing, too.
Connor Wood
Pretty good. And it was riveting. And it touched me. No, it touched my heart.
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
In a way. And I said, I'm addicted to this young man. I want to listen. I want this to be my alarm clock. And it's stuck. And now it's. It's become, like, an unofficial phrase that we say amazing stop on our podcast. So I love that I've become the young man.
Alex Earl
Yeah. So do you see yourself as, like, a heartthrob?
Connor Wood
No. And take it from Alex, like, get. Meet me once. You'll get over it. You look, you'll be disgusted. But, like, that's really sweet. It's so funny when I meet people, like, especially at shows, and they're like, I don't want to boost your ego. I'm like, I really could use an ego boost, honestly.
Alex Earl
Oh, yeah.
Connor Wood
I'm not like, okay.
Alex Earl
Sorry.
Connor Wood
Not okay. But. No, but it's like, okay, cool. Because you do, you know, like, you have to go. You meet people and you do, like, shows and things, and it's. There's a lot of people that are, like, dumbass or, like, you know, they find things wrong with you. So it's nice every. Every once in a while, the ego doesn't get boosted as much as people think.
Alex Earl
Really?
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
So do you go on a lot of dates? I used.
Connor Wood
I used to in la. Not as much since I started touring because I'm not in the same place. I'd be like a deadbeat dad right now.
Alex Earl
What do you mean?
Connor Wood
I jumped right to fatherhood. Don't have any kids, but you're just not.
Alex Earl
I mean, anything fun.
Connor Wood
I'm not home at all because I'm on tour.
Alex Earl
Tour.
Connor Wood
But tour. Did I say it weird?
Alex Earl
I don't know. My mom's from the Midwest, and she says, tour, tour, tour.
Connor Wood
We.
Alex Earl
I say tour, tour, tour.
Connor Wood
I'm not hearing a difference in those two words. Tour, tour. Okay. We're doing Russian today. So I was on tour, and this whole past, like, year and a Half. And so I haven't really been home. And so I'd have to date, like, someone every night if I was dating.
Alex Earl
So you don't right now talk to any girls?
Connor Wood
No, but I'm also moving to New York. I think I told you, but.
Alex Earl
No, you didn't.
Connor Wood
I didn't know we're swapping.
Alex Earl
Really?
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
Wait, Okay. I think I need to move to New York because it's getting to a point where this is getting a little ridiculous. Everyone that I'm friends with is in New York now. No one's here that's kind of besides a few people.
Connor Wood
Yeah, I know.
Alex Earl
Seeming like the spot.
Connor Wood
It's really, like. It's tough timing. That's all I'll say. But it's. I'm excited to be in New York and, like, I've started to hate my car. And usually I used to love sitting in my car, like, safe space vibes, and I could sing and, like, that little song I did right now, like, I felt really good to get back to my roots in my car. But dating, I don't know everyone. Every time I'm in, like, a new city in the Midwest or on the east coast or on the west coast or in the south, everyone's like, dating sucks here. I think I'm just losing faith in the dating pool.
Alex Earl
Really?
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
I feel like New York would be a lot better to date than la. I mean, I might be thinking of, like, my friends and their experiences, but I feel like my friends who are in New York on dates all the time, it seems, like, not as serious there. It's kind of like everyone, like, goes on a date every day.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
It's a game.
Connor Wood
It's fun.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
I just think that New York and I feel this in LA right now. Like, LA is so small town to me. And I moved to LA from Austin, which got so small to me. Like, I knew every single person in Austin.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
And then now I feel like I know every single person in LA being, like, comfortable. Yeah.
Alex Earl
Like, I want to do, too.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
That's how I feel with Miami. I'm like, I've done everything here and I need a little. I need to feel like a little out of my comfort zone.
Connor Wood
I know. It's so scary because I'm running out of places to move and I'm like, getting to the point where, like, I could have three kids completely. In terms of my other friend, I'm from the South, I'm from Texas, so.
Alex Earl
It'S like, oh, my gosh, is everyone married? Everyone's Married people in the south are a different breed.
Connor Wood
They. I don't have any friends with three kids. I was an exaggeration. But they are all married. And I like last year I went to 12 weddings, like one wedding a month, which is too many weddings. Yeah, it was, it was really something. And then you go home for Christmas and like I went out with my high school friends and they're all full blown. Husband, wife, husband, wife, husband, wife.
Alex Earl
I'm like, that's, that is.
Connor Wood
I should probably. Yeah, I should probably sit down and, and start downloading the apps again.
Alex Earl
Yeah. Did you. Were you big on dating apps?
Connor Wood
I was before the Internet.
Alex Earl
Which ones?
Connor Wood
I liked Hinge a lot. I worked at Bumble before.
Alex Earl
I love because like obviously I've had a boyfriend so I haven't been on dating apps really. But I love going on my friend's Hinge and it's like a game. I'm like, please let me like go on and play.
Connor Wood
Like you were full on in a relationship the whole time when the apps like started popping off?
Alex Earl
No, I was on the apps for a little. I was on Raya. Found literally the worst possible person on there ever and decided to date them.
Connor Wood
Oh, Raya. By the way, I don't think I've heard of one success story from Raya.
Alex Earl
No, I don't think so. I don't think so.
Connor Wood
Raya should lean into just being a networking app. I really truly think so.
Alex Earl
Networking may be good for dates, maybe not who you're looking to settle down with.
Connor Wood
I haven't heard one good thing and I have Raya. I check Raya. When I like go to random places, I'm like, it's always fun to see who's on Raya. And yeah, when I'm like on tour, but never I. I don't know, it's. It's a scary app to use.
Alex Earl
You know what I think's wrong with Raya is that I feel like people are on it for the wrong reasons because they're like, oh, this is like the exclusive one or here's like where the rich or like famous people are. So everyone's on it like kind of looking for someone with somewhat of like a status. But it's like I feel like at this point like everyone's on it. So I just feel like it breeds for like not maybe the best reasonings.
Connor Wood
No, I agree. I totally agree. And also it's going to scare off. I feel like every time someone of like, oh no, someone just full blown.
Alex Earl
Died upstairs, I literally just Was about to run out of here. I've been so.
Connor Wood
Just get up to leave. Okay. No more co. Like, get rid of that coffee.
Alex Earl
I've been so.
Connor Wood
Unfortunately, I would have still been here.
Alex Earl
You were getting ready to leave.
Connor Wood
Oh, my gosh. What were we even talking about before the elephant started jumping upstairs? Now the elephant is in the room. Is that I would have been in the rubble and Alex would have, like, full blown left.
Alex Earl
I'm gonna like, Alex lives.
Connor Wood
Conor Wood to die on her podcast. I can't believe you legit got up to leave.
Alex Earl
Wow, I'm just so on edge recently. Okay.
Connor Wood
Oh, Raya. Yeah, Raya seems so unimportant after, like, facing death, looking death in the eye. But yeah, every time someone of status is in, like, legit status, someone's like, I match with John Mayer and it's like, well, now you scared him off.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
Like, that's like being like, I am like, an elk came into my front yard and I went to feed it, but before I fed it, I screamed, there's an elk here. You know, it's like, obviously the elk's going to leave your front yard.
Alex Earl
Yeah. But yeah, and it's also dangerous because the thing about Raya is they tell you, or at least this is what I was told you deactivate your account, but it takes like 30 or 60 days. So you're still on there.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
So, like, and I'm not sure if this is fully true or not, but, like, when I was dating this guy, he was like fully active on Raya and girls would message me all the time and I was like, oh, no. He, like, deactivated his account, but it's just still up. Yeah, but I don't think he did.
Connor Wood
I don't think he did either. I'm so sorry. I'm just trying to tell you to break the news.
Alex Earl
But okay, but now, like, would you. Dating app now.
Connor Wood
Yeah, Like, I think when I move, like, out of la, for sure. It's also been weird since, like, being on the Internet because I don't, like, I'm going to. I don't know, I don't want to date anyone that, like, has followed me.
Alex Earl
So. Would you date someone you followed?
Connor Wood
Yeah, totally. It's. I'm a hypocrite. I'm an age and a major age.
Alex Earl
So. So why? Because, like, I don't know. Because you're embarrassed or because you think they're a fan?
Connor Wood
Yeah, like a fan. That's what I meant.
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
I wouldn't. But I don't want to be like, I wouldn't date a fan. I'm not.
Alex Earl
Yeah, but what if someone just like follows you and they're just like, love. Love is vibe, similar to my vibe. And then you guys are a vibe together.
Connor Wood
I don't know.
Alex Earl
I guess it's tricky.
Connor Wood
Like. Yeah.
Alex Earl
Okay, so everyone unfollow Connor, everyone. If you want to change.
Connor Wood
My job. No, I'll date anyone that follows me if you want to follow me. I just, I need to change it. I don't want to lose any. Now that we lost TikTok, I'm like desperate to keep everyone around. No, I don't know, because I've had experience where like, I've gone on dates and then after, like at the end, I've had girls say like, oh, like, by the way, I follow you. And then I'm like, yeah, we got.
Alex Earl
To not make it weird.
Connor Wood
It's kind of like. And it's shit. There should be nothing wrong with it. I don't know, like, what's wrong with my brain where I'm like, I don't like that. But it's kind of like I. So I used to work at Bumble on the marketing team.
Alex Earl
Oh, wow.
Connor Wood
And in my, in my Bumble profile, it said, like, works at Bumble. And like, girls message me and be like, can you get me a job? Like, I'll go, I'll go on with you if you get me a job over there. So that's been like, that's kind of the same kind of that's crazy experience there.
Alex Earl
So have you had any crazy experiences on dating apps?
Connor Wood
No, not really. Like, I'm going to be the most boring person ever during this.
Alex Earl
What do you, what do you slide in with? Is Hinge the one where like a girl has to slide in first?
Connor Wood
Bumble.
Alex Earl
Bumble. Okay. So on Hinge, what would be like your line?
Connor Wood
Depending on that it has to depend on the profile. But I've used Chat CBT a lot. I would encourage people to look into Chat cbt.
Alex Earl
Okay. For like a joke.
Connor Wood
For a joke.
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
Yeah. Because what do you think about, like, really kitschy, like, cliche slide in jokes?
Alex Earl
I like that.
Connor Wood
I think they're fun. I do know.
Alex Earl
I like when someone says something that you feel like you like, have to respond to.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
This is so, like, what?
Connor Wood
It's not too deep. It should be just like fun, you know, to start. But I was drinking recently and I woke up and I was like, holy cow. Sabrina Carpenter. DM me.
Alex Earl
What?
Connor Wood
Yeah. And it was the day that her And Barry broke up. I was like, let's go.
Alex Earl
My God, you're joking.
Connor Wood
Oh, no, I'm. I was just wrong. I DM'd her, and I said, I found your debit card. I don't know why I said that.
Alex Earl
That's crazy.
Connor Wood
And now I've been. I've been limited in the DMs. I can send her, and I can't be like, I was. I don't know why. Hey, sorry. I don't know.
Alex Earl
It won't let you send anyone.
Connor Wood
It won't. I've been limited, and. And you know, when you send, like, you send an invitation to chat. So now I don't know if we'll ever cross paths. It's definitely, like, not completely out of.
Alex Earl
The car unless she's looking for her debit card.
Connor Wood
Unless she's like, oh, my God, like, has my debit card.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
What if she's going to the ATM and she's like, oh, my God. I don't think she ever has pockets on anything she wears. But there's. So there's a real chance that she might drop it or something and.
Alex Earl
All right, if you're listening, Serena, if.
Connor Wood
You'Re tuning in, I don't have it, but, like, please open up our. Our discourse and our dialogue in the DMs, because I. I would love to allow him to send rekindle.
Alex Earl
Yeah, that.
Connor Wood
And. And maybe send a better opening message.
Alex Earl
So is she, like, your celebrity crush?
Connor Wood
I love her to death. Yeah. Love her to death.
Alex Earl

Alex Earl
Which one? Once I heard which one?
Connor Wood
Bedcam.
Alex Earl
Oh, Bedcam. So good.
Connor Wood
What is yours?
Alex Earl
Well, please, please, please, just like, something about that song in the way it, like, itches my brain. I think so. But, like, honestly, truly, every song on her album is so good.
Connor Wood
It was really good. And it's so weird because I was not like an og.
Alex Earl
Sorry.
Connor Wood
Something just happened with my left nipple and it got caught on my shirt. Something happened randomly. Like, I was never, like a huge, like, Sabrina Carpenter fan. Didn't really get it. And then something happened one day, I think, I think God, like, gave me a Sabrina Carpenter itch in my, in my brain while I was asleep. And then I was like, yeah. And I started working out to her. I was on Sabrina Carpenter radio. It all has the same, like, really great energy to it. And then bed came. Came out and it was like, came in the bed and I was like, this is. I don't know the words. This is awesome. This is exactly the vibe I want so that I added that to my running playlist. And then the rest is herstory. It was my top song and I didn't even, didn't even come out till October and that's how much I listened to it from October to December.
Alex Earl
I didn't get a Spotify wrapped because I, like, didn't listen to music.
Connor Wood
Did you go through a phase where you didn't listen?
Alex Earl
Just like my whole life, I don't know what, I love music, but, like, so Sabrina was my top because I, like, probably only listened to Sabrina this year. Yeah, but, like, I don't get a Spotify wrapped because I said you don't have enough minutes.
Connor Wood
You didn't have. You didn't clock in enough hours.
Alex Earl
I also go between Apple and Spotify, so it's kind of fake, but, like, it. I sit and drive in silence. I. I don't know what my problem is, but I love music and concerts and festivals that.
Connor Wood
I know you love music, but. And you go to a lot of concerts.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
I'm going through a phase right now where I, like, can't. Unless I'm pregame. I don't know. Going to something, getting ready for something. Like, I don't really want to hear anything. No music or. I, like.
Alex Earl
Sometimes silence is nice. That's what I like when I get in the car and I'm like, no noise. Because you also have misophonia.
Connor Wood
Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Alex Earl
Wait, we have to update you. I got these loop headphones. You have to get them.
Connor Wood
They work.
Alex Earl
You have to get them. Sally got them for me for Christmas because she was like, you are such a. When you're yelling at everyone and they're.
Connor Wood
A. I'm a prostitute.
Alex Earl
They look like little. Little, like, gold earrings almost. But, like, in. You put it in. So fashionable, so chic. I sat through a family dinner at, like, during Christmas time, and I cried after because I didn't yell at anyone once.
Connor Wood
Wow.
Alex Earl
I texted, so I was like, this genuinely has changed my life. And you can still hear. You just can't hear that, like, layer of, like, agitating sounds. We need to get them for you.
Connor Wood
You might have changed, like, the course of my life. Chewing. For whatever reason, pouring a liquid into a glass gives me the biggest ick. I can hear, like, an animal chewing. I love to hear my dog eating.
Alex Earl
I love dogs eating. And that's my thing is I'm like, maybe I'm just a. Because I love dogs with.
Connor Wood
And they're like, no, you're not a. Because I have it, too. I sit. I sit in the car. My dad's breathing out of his nostrils. I'm like, you gotta breathe out of your mouth because I don't know what's happening in your nose, but it's not appropriate.
Alex Earl
Yeah, no, it is hard when you have to get to the point where you have to tell the person next to you, like, hey, you've got to breathe different. Your breathing has got to go.
Connor Wood
And it's not something that you want to. I don't want to be this person, you know? Like, I didn't sign up for misophonia. And my dad's one of the people that's like, oh, my gosh. This generation labels everything. You've got disease after disease. Like, stop blaming things. I'm like, you can't hear something? And I'm like, it makes me want to crawl out of my skin and, like, hit my head against a wall.
Alex Earl
Yes. Yes. Anger. And, like, I get this feeling up the center of my spine. I don't know what it is, but it feels like there's an itch in the center of my spinal cord. And obviously, I could never get that. So it's like. Do you know what I mean? And it shivers throughout my body.
Connor Wood
What I mean about crawling out of my skin? Like, I literally, like.
Alex Earl
Yeah. Like, nails on a chalkboard. Doesn't really bother me.
Connor Wood
I wonder if you've, like, the feelings thing, too. I have weird. Like, when someone. You know, like a poker table, it's, like, made out of felt.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
You don't like that if someone, like, drags her hand on that.
Alex Earl
Oh. Oh. Yep. Sally had this blanket on her feet last night and was just, like, scooting it against the table, and I had a problem. But I hate that I have those problems.
Connor Wood
Me too.
Alex Earl
And I said, I'm sorry. I feel like a.
Connor Wood
It's just something that, like, you find your people that are like, hey, let's be mindful of this person's. This person's illness.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
Genuine illness. But there's also things, like, I've started to. Not, like fireworks, which is, like. That sucks not to, like, this. This genuinely purely joyous thing for everyone.
Alex Earl
Else, or just too loud.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
I don't like hand dryers and bathrooms. Hate those. Like, I really like when I see people using those. I'm like, we're different. We're built so different, you and I. Because I could never do that. I want to go like this, but that would be, like, a little bit over the top to do in public. Close my ears in a. In a bathroom.
Alex Earl
So if you're on a date with someone and she starts, like, gulping or chewing, is that for you? Like, there's no second date.
Connor Wood
So for me, I can. I can tell myself genuinely, I can be like, this is exposure therapy for you right now. Suck it up. And, like, you're gonna be a better person because of getting through this.
Alex Earl
But you would date someone who's, like, a smacker.
Connor Wood
Are you talking like, she's a 10? But.
Alex Earl
Yeah, she's a 10, but she's a smacker.
Connor Wood
Like, definitely brings it down. Definitely takes a hit.
Alex Earl
Because I think about it at times, like, braxton, he drinks smack? No, he drinks his water and it's quiet. But like, some people, it's just like. It must be like the anatomy of. I don't know, because, like, some people make a really loud noise and like, for me, I don't know if I'd be able to date him really.
Connor Wood
Oh, wow.
Alex Earl
Like now if he started gulping, I wouldn't break up with him. But like, in the beginning, I don't. I just, I. It would make things different.
Connor Wood
Well, you can teach dogs new tricks always. So, like, I think if someone develops late onset loud gulp disease, I think that you can, you can train, train them out of it.
Alex Earl
So back to, Back to dating.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
If you're out at a bar, say, and there's a girl and you fancy her, how are you approaching her?
Connor Wood
Or are you not buying a drink? That's a great shot together. Also, I found that it's more fun, especially if it's. If you're in, like in a group setting and you have a bunch of friends, I got go over with like a group and be like, you guys want to like, combine forces and do shots or like, so you don't have to pick up line, pickup line. It's situational. I feel like I don't have like a go, like, hey, I found your debit card. Oh, wait, that's mine. Should we get a drink? That could be.
Alex Earl
That could be good.
Connor Wood
This is kind of like.
Alex Earl
That was good.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
So you're more like fun as opposed to flirty.
Connor Wood
Because I would always rather go have fun. Then maybe that says something about me then, like, like hook up, for example. And I'm also. I feel like going out to bars and stuff. Like, that's not. That could be like the new thing. I think dating apps are out for 2025.
Alex Earl
So. What. What's in. Where are you finding your ladies?
Connor Wood
I think out and about, like, IRL would be fun. I wrote some stuff down, but I can't. I'm not going to be able to find.
Alex Earl
And what are you going to say if you see them IRL and there's no bar?
Connor Wood
I can think of something right now.
Alex Earl
Okay. Would you ever be like, hey, like, you're super pretty?
Connor Wood
No, no, no, it's not.
Alex Earl
I'd be so scared if getting denied.
Connor Wood
No, like, I, I feel like I. That would scare a young woman.
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
Hey, you're super pretty.
Alex Earl
Yeah, maybe.
Connor Wood
You know, I'm not, I'm not 6 4, so I don't know if that would like, fly in as like, charming. It'd be like, who's this? Where's this kid's mom? Hey, you're super pretty. All right, let's get you. Let's get you home, kiddo. I don't know. I'd like to be like. I. I said that I like, like, on dating apps, like, something cliche and kitschy, but I think in person, like, got to put a little bit more effort into it. Chat. GPT is funny for dms, I think, if you're preparing any pickup lines. Also, I think not to. Not to s. Suck my own dick, but I think that it's better to not go unprepared for a line, because then you're kind of like, American Psycho, kind of freaky. You're just, like, prepared. I'm going to go into this bar.
Alex Earl
Would you rather them come up to you, maybe? Is that what I'll do?
Connor Wood
No, I. There's nothing better. There's no better feeling. Like, I don't. I don't know if you did this before, like, going up and being at the bar and you're, like, with, like, a dude and being, like. Just, like, bantering and being like, oh, my God, Normal person. This is fun.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
Like, your heart flutters. Like, that's the best.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
But it's rare, and it should be rare because that shouldn't happen all the time. We'll have to go. We'll have to go out, and we.
Alex Earl
Need a real life experiment.
Connor Wood
You can pick. You can pick someone.
Alex Earl
Okay. Wait. I'm very excited.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
In New York.
Connor Wood
In New York. Okay, I'll have you pick. But it's not like, how to Lose a guy in 10 days fives. Like, we're not gonna bet on it or anything or make it a game, but I just want to see if I can use. Hey, I found your debit card. Oh, wait, that's mine. You want to drink? That one's good. Like, I think that that one could work.
Alex Earl
That one could work.
Connor Wood
I like that one without being that.
Alex Earl
One in the back pocket. You know what might work for you? Just, like, eye contact.
Connor Wood
You know why eye contact doesn't work for me? Because I don't have eyebrows. So, like, it kind of. And especially.
Alex Earl
Yes, you do.
Connor Wood
No, I don't. Like, if you add them both together, I have one, sure. But, like, they're all. They end halfway across my eyeball, you know?
Alex Earl
We were just looking at photos the other day of my eyebrows from a few years ago. Want to see?
Connor Wood
Did you have, like, a. That thing. That was a trend for a while. The eyebrow blindness. Blindness?
Alex Earl
Yeah. My eyebrows were black and triple the size.
Connor Wood
Maybe times, like, ashen colored hair. Eyebrows. That's. You. What?
Alex Earl
Yes.
Connor Wood
No, wait, wait. Can I look at it for a second?
Alex Earl
Like, not with that reaction.
Connor Wood
Oh, my God. Well, sorry.
Alex Earl
No, no, I know it's true.
Connor Wood
I. You, like, the eyebrows really change a person. If I had eyebrows, I look scary. My sister's drawn them on a couple times and I look scary.
Alex Earl
Do you wear hats a lot?
Connor Wood
Yeah. I have a normal hairline, by the way. Okay, don't be. No one needs to be scared of my hairline. It's there, I promise. I actually, my apartment's being shown right now because.
Alex Earl
Oh, really?
Connor Wood
Because I'm moving and my landlord, like, it's all set up, you know, I think it looks cool. She comes in before it's. It's being shown and fixes it. And I get back and it smells so good in my apartment. So I'm kind of loving it being shown. I think she cleans it a little bit.
Alex Earl
That's nice.
Connor Wood
But I have a lot of knickknacks. I told you that I love knickknacks. I like to collect rocks everywhere I live and everywhere. Every time I travel, I, like, bring a rock home.
Alex Earl
One time a guy gave me a rock in, like, middle school as a present.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
Like, kind of, like, had a little sparkle to it. And it's when I was summering in Wisconsin and I hear it's gorgeous this time of year. Give me a rock. And I, like, had it up until we moved from my house. I found it in my drawer.
Connor Wood
Wow.
Alex Earl
It was. It was honestly really special.
Connor Wood
I think what this has become today is more of a work shopping experience for me. Maybe I bring some rocks out to the bar. Me and jail in a month. Because I brought rocks into a bar. Getting patted down by a bouncer in Atlanta, being like, you brought, like, 15 rocks into this bar. Hey, I'm trying to hit on. I'm trying to hit on a girl here. And it's like, are you gonna hit her with a rock? That's what it would seem like.
Alex Earl
Yeah. So.
Connor Wood
So where do we go, Alex, from me saying I'm gonna hit a girl with a rock?
Alex Earl
Really trying to steer this thing. Yeah.
Connor Wood
Please steer the ship somewhere.
Alex Earl
So have you, like, gone on a date?
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
Okay, great. Like in perfect. Let's start there. Yeah.
Connor Wood
Love going on dates.
Alex Earl
Dates.
Connor Wood
I'm good at dates.
Alex Earl
Really?
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
Okay, so let's talk about dates. Okay, let's talk. Let's forget about the Getting to the dates. Let's just talk about the dates.
Connor Wood
How did we.
Alex Earl
How do we get after you concuss her with a rock, she's on this date with you. Have you ever had a date gone, like, very bad.
Connor Wood
I'll tell you who it was with after. I think it's like. I've said it a couple times sometimes, but I didn't know if it was a date or not.
Alex Earl
Yeah, Okay.
Connor Wood
I didn't know if it was a date or not, but I was, like, trying to be cool. So I, like, went and borrowed a dog from someone dog. I was like, a puppy. I, like, knew he just gotten a puppy. And I was like, I'm gonna take this puppy and, like, bring it. And I like. She, like, didn't even think I had a dog or ever asked about a dog I got her. Didn't even really care I had a dog. But I had driven an hour out of the way. I got the dog. We went on a hike here in la and the dog was a husky puppy. Like, obviously huskies don't like heat or walking.
Alex Earl
That's pretty cool for a date.
Connor Wood
Like, husky puppy, husky puppy. Hike. Hiking clothes look athletic. Have to carry the dog about 10ft into the hike. Not hiking anymore. Look at the way I'm built. I can't carry a dog for very far, but I had to. And so I'm on this hike, I'm carrying this dog. We get to a point, I'm like, we should take a picture. Because I'm out of breath checking my PS and I take a picture. Now we're halfway done with the hike and kind of talked already. And I was like, what do you want to talk about? She was like, I think we're okay. Just. We can just walk in silence for a while. We don't have to talk the whole time.
Alex Earl
Oh.
Connor Wood
And then I was like, oh. So we just walked in silence for about the rest of the hike. So that was wrong. That felt wrong for me because I told you, I'm not good at moving in silence. And that's genuinely, literally moving in silence.
Alex Earl
Was that the last date you ever had?
Connor Wood
No. Oh, yeah.
Alex Earl
No, no. I mean with that girl.
Connor Wood
Oh, yes.
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
We've never seen each other again.
Alex Earl
And then she got in a car wreck this hiking. Your I. A car wreck?
Connor Wood
Yeah. Not bad. She just backs right up into, like a city vehicle, like, tow truck type thing, and backed and got stuck there. And then I went and picked her up and.
Alex Earl

Connor Wood
I like a hike because there's stuff to look at and do and if you're sitting like having a meal or a coffee or something, you have to get through the rest of the meal. If you order food and stuff, like if it starts going awry.
Alex Earl
Okay, see, I don't agree with that.
Connor Wood
Really?
Alex Earl
Because you're up on a mountain, then what you're going to say, let's part ways.
Connor Wood
That's a good point. That's a really good point.
Alex Earl
Almost worse.
Connor Wood
I think about it like, hey, at least I'm getting. I'm just work. I'm at a workout class. Almost.
Alex Earl
A hike can be kind of dangerous for a first date. 1000% getting kidnapped.
Connor Wood
Say wheat. You're thinking of stuff that I didn't get to and now I think it's a horrible idea for a first date.
Alex Earl
So you don't like dinner for a first. What about like a, a movie? You don't have to talk that much. No eye contact.
Connor Wood
I think I want to talk though, cuz don't you want to find out? What if you don't talk to the person the whole. For now, movies are six hours long.
Alex Earl
I love a dinner date. But you were seeming like you didn't like those vibes.
Connor Wood
I'm also kind of scared to eat in front of people.
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
Because I'm like, there's definitely stuff in, you know, my teeth. I probably have a flosser.
Alex Earl
So you would just like to sit and talk.
Connor Wood
Two flossers on my person right now. I love flossing. I pull out 15 rocks. I just. Yeah. Eating in front of people makes me nervous. For whatever reason, I'd like to be active in doing something. An activity is fun. What do you think about, like, double dates?
Alex Earl
I think double dates are fun dates.
Connor Wood
You and Brax Dog. That's what we call each other.
Alex Earl
Me and Brad, we'll double dates with couples that are already, like, very established. Like, I don't think we've double dated as, like, a first date.
Connor Wood
Oh, yeah, yeah, that would be, you know. Yeah.
Alex Earl
Well, no, like, I feel like it's not weird. Like, if we were to double date, like, say I had, like, Sally and then, like, Braxton had a friend for Sally, you know, so, like, worthy, established, but, like.
Connor Wood
But it's their first date.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
But I feel like double dating can be tricky if you're both first timers. Like, it's both your first dates because then, like, if one works out well and one doesn't, then be kind of tricky.
Connor Wood
That's weird.
Alex Earl
But double dates are great. So what is your ideal date? Paint us a picture.
Connor Wood
Yeah, let me think. I think going to, like. I think like, a football game or like the US Open, I think would be really fun because you can watch something. You can also talk and you can have drinks.
Alex Earl
Can't really talk much at the tennis.
Connor Wood
That's true. Talk quietly. Football game, I think would be fun. Or like, a sporting event would be fun.
Alex Earl
I feel like. I feel like up your alley is giving, like, happy hour at a bar.
Connor Wood
I think that'd be awesome.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
But I'm doing Dry January, which I've been telling you, so I'm trying to think of events and things that you would do without drinking. But yeah, something.
Alex Earl
I mean, you can order like a mocktail.
Connor Wood
I'm not. I. I would drink. Like, I'm drinking a lot of Heineken zeros right now.
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
Because I love going to bars still and I love the smell of, like, a gross bar.
Alex Earl
So why are you doing Dry January?
Connor Wood
I do it every year because the end of the year for me always is, like, dark. Well, it's like a cr. It's holidays. And then it's like, with the family. And then it's like by the end.
Alex Earl
Of December, I was like, I can never see a drink again.
Connor Wood
That's how I am. And so I just, like, prepare my body like, this is your last hurrah. And then you get a month off.
Alex Earl
Do you feel better?
Connor Wood
No. That's the thing about Dry January is that, like, I look exactly the same, maybe worse, and I feel no different.
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
What a beautiful thing. But we were talking about it. Sally and I were talking about it before we started recording. It's like, because I'm not drinking, I'm like, well, you can order two meal, two full meals and eat them both in your bed. Like.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
Because you didn't drink tonight.
Alex Earl
I feel like, for me, I did dry January last year, and it was like, fine. Like, it's not like it was like, a problem or anything, but I just feel like I wasn't really going out in January this year. Like, I had no plan. So I was like, why would I, like, if I want to have a glass of wine with dinner?
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
Because I'm the type of person that I don't really love to, like, always have a drink unless I'm, like, going out. I'm not like, I need a drink with my dinner.
Connor Wood
Same. I don't.
Alex Earl
Sometimes I feel like now, which I'm like, am I getting older? Love a glass of wine.
Connor Wood
Dry January has been good. I can't wait for February to be, like, done with dry January. I feel like I'm, like, pregnant or something that I'm like, you know, like, this is good for the baby. You know, like, I'm eating for two. I also cannot stand, cannot stand at all this time of the year when. And I know this is, like, not an original thought at all. This is like, me being like, I hate that feeling when you get hungry. But that time of the year when the sun goes down earlier daylight savings, like, I operate still under the timeline of, like a, like a Chihuahua. Like, I, I, I eat my three meals when the sun goes, like, sun rises, I have breakfast.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
Middle of the day, I have lunch. When the sun goes down, I'm having supper, you know?
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
But it's only four, so guess who has to have supper, too? And then, like, a little maybe snack before bed. Me. So this is the time of year when my jawline does had head out. So I'm, I'm missing it.
Alex Earl
And I do work out ever.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
Thank you for noticing.
Alex Earl
Yes.
Connor Wood
Yeah, I work out. You guys can't tell. I'll take my shirt off in the bonus episode, but it's on Patreon.
Alex Earl
I'm like, okay. I have a question.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
Do you have a type?
Connor Wood
Girls will play soccer.
Alex Earl
Really?
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
Did you play soccer?
Connor Wood
Yeah. So, like, for whatever reason, there's just this bond in between people that play soccer, and it's. It's unbroken. What? Did you play soccer, Sally? Oh, I was like, I had to.
Alex Earl
Look and see Sally, come on over. I had to look, by the way. Like, I feel like you guys are having a conversation. Every time I look over, Connor and Sally are, like, talking, and I'm like.
Connor Wood
Just so that everyone knows, like, the orientation of who's in the studio. Like, I'm looking right at Sally. Like, I'm podcasting with Sally.
Alex Earl
Sally is sitting directly in Connor's line of view, and they've been having these, like, side conversations. And I feel like she laughs at my jokes. I feel like I'm. I don't understand your jokes. What do you think about when people are or feel girls say a lot. Like, I can't sleep with them on the first date because then, like, they wouldn't want to date me.
Connor Wood
Yeah, I agree with that. I'm a little old fashioned in that way because I'm so, like, if she's.
Alex Earl
Willing to sleep with you on the first date, you're like, oh, no, I'm.
Connor Wood
Not gonna judge so on that way. But I would be. I would be scared that, like, oh.
Alex Earl
You'Re saying from your point of view.
Connor Wood
I wouldn't want. I wouldn't.
Alex Earl
You wouldn't want to, like, encroach that fast?
Connor Wood
Yeah, I wouldn't. Well, I'm from Texas.
Alex Earl
I'm like, are you a gentleman?
Connor Wood
Yeah, I think so.
Alex Earl
Do you open the car doors?
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
Oh, that's.
Connor Wood
I say, yes, ma'am. Yes, sir.
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
That's never gone away. That's the thing about California is, like, it's kind of taken that thing away from me because no one looks at each other here.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
If you're in Texas and you're in the same, like, grocery aisle as someone, that's enough of a reason to just, like, start. Oh, milk. Huh? I'm getting some too. We should probably hang out sometime. That's enough of a reason to, like, start a conversation. I've had people, like, tell me about their grandchildren just because we're, like, both buying a candle in Texas.
Alex Earl
It is crazy when you go to different places, how different people are.
Connor Wood
I love Jersey.
Alex Earl
I feel like Jersey is not, like, a very friendly place.
Connor Wood
It's not friendly, but it's kind.
Alex Earl
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Connor Wood
Like, I think people say exactly what they're thinking and they're loud, and I love that. That's fun. Texas, like, a lot of people say, like, bless your heart. That means, like, for judging you pretty hard.
Alex Earl
Really?
Connor Wood
Yeah. No, it doesn't bless her heart, but I heard she's a prostitute now. Oh, like, that's what they'll say. Oh, and it's kind of like. It's kind of like saying, you know, like I don't want to be a. I don't want to gossip. You know, bless her heart.
Alex Earl
But see, I would have taken bless her heart as a compliment.
Connor Wood
Yeah. Yeah, I know. Isn't that weird?
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
It's a scary thing. I do love. I miss Texas a lot. I've been thinking about. We're all settle down now that we're talking about dating.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
Where do you want to do?
Alex Earl
I don't know where to go.
Connor Wood
Back to Jersey, you think? Yeah.
Alex Earl
I do love Jersey. And I could see myself as settling down there, but I don't know if I really could because of the winters.
Connor Wood
Well, you're young.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
Eventually you'll be like, I miss those winners.
Alex Earl
I don't know.
Connor Wood
On the east Coast.
Alex Earl
We'll see.
Connor Wood
What do you think?
Alex Earl
California is really pretty.
Connor Wood
California is really pretty. California.
Alex Earl
The taxes are.
Connor Wood
Taxes are crazy. I know. Right in the middle of Texas for me. And I went to college in Texas. Born, raised in Texas. And I just went back. My friends are all moving out of New York and to. In la, to Texas again. So like there's a community there.
Alex Earl
I'm like, ooh, where in Texas?
Connor Wood
Austin.
Alex Earl
Austin. I liked Austin when I went.
Connor Wood
It's fun.
Alex Earl
We got good ribs. But Braxton's dad lives in Dallas.
Connor Wood
Oh.
Alex Earl
So I'm excited to go visit them. And I really feel like I would love Texas.
Connor Wood
Dallas is cool. Dallas is getting really cool too.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
Yeah. Texas is really different than like especially Austin from when I went to college there. It's becoming like this like city. Low key. But it's. It was so tiny when I was there.
Alex Earl
I went out there. It was so fun.
Connor Wood
It's a blast.
Alex Earl
I had a great time.
Connor Wood
Yeah. Austin. Austin parties. That's one of those places you can go to dinner and that be your whole night and you've had the most fun night of your life just at dinner.
Alex Earl
I need that type of city life.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
For me right now. But then when I look to settle down, I would love a farm and I want to have. Oh, I guess this is another good question for you. You like dogs?
Connor Wood
Love dogs.
Alex Earl
Cats.
Connor Wood
I. I f. With cats. Yeah.
Alex Earl
Yeah. Just to be clear, what about like a cat lady? Your type or you would. More like a dog lady.
Connor Wood
Loved. Yeah. Dog lady. Unfortunately. And nothing against cats or cat women.
Alex Earl
Just.
Connor Wood
I just. Yeah. Preference.
Alex Earl
Bigger. Small dog.
Connor Wood
I love big dogs.
Alex Earl
I like big dogs too.
Connor Wood
Yeah. I just. Something about cats. I. What do you think about cats?
Alex Earl
I don't want the cat lovers to hate me.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
I just never grew up really having cats, so I never really was fond of them. And I like a dog because, like, I feel like it's a person, so I feel like we connect. We can, like, hang out. Like, when I see cats, sometimes they like, kind of are just in the corner. But we've recently got this little cat, Binks, who's adorable, and she literally just like, sits right on your shoulder. So now I'm. I'm like, okay, I like this cat.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
But it's because it's our cat, and maybe that's why.
Connor Wood
But yeah.
Alex Earl
Being an age hypocrite. But I don't know.
Connor Wood
Well, I. I grew up with a couple cats. They were all outdoor cats. They like, hunted stuff. That's where they wanted to be. They didn't want to come inside.
Alex Earl
Okay.
Connor Wood
So wait.
Alex Earl
We had actually a cat that was a. I think it's dad was like a leopard or something. So it was like, it's wild. It lives outside our house and just like, fights off the foxes all the time.
Connor Wood
I'm just gonna. I want to rewind for just a second. It's dad was a leopard.
Alex Earl
Oh, yeah. We had it indoors, but it was just like it needed to be in the jungle.
Connor Wood
I see. Yeah. Our. Our cats mother was a bobcat.
Alex Earl
My little dog. Actually, it's a little golden doodle mix. Eats the, like, chickens in the back. And our roosters. It's eight of you. Your dog, and she's like the little tiniest golden doodle, and she is murdering our roosters.
Connor Wood
Oh, my God. I'm surprised it's not the leopard. Sheesh. That's really.
Alex Earl
Yeah. Okay, so you're looking for Sabrina Carpenter, Ex soccer player, dog lover.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
Happy hour ago.
Connor Wood
Trust fund. Would be awesome if we could amazing, like, work that into the mix. Looking for an apartment. So maybe. Maybe she works in real estate. Maybe she's got a second bedroom. I don't even have to find an apartment. Second. We have.
Alex Earl
We have a segment that I usually do. Alex do, where, you know, people write in their scenarios and I. I have a few stories for you that I just want to get your take on and see. Like, what would Connor do?
Connor Wood
Cool.
Alex Earl
Okay. My boyfriend and I have known each other for years.
Connor Wood
Break up with him.
Alex Earl
Even before we started dating, he's always been very chill and not emotional at all. He would say that it's natural to feel emotions, but we must regulate them and not act on them. If I'm honest, he Inspired me to change myself and stop being so emotional. However, I wanted to surprise him yesterday. So I went to his place. I went in and was about to enter his room when I saw his door like 90 closed. Through the crack, I see that he's crying. I wanted to go inside and ask him how he felt, but I was worried that he'd see me and yell at me because this is something he wanted to keep. Personally. I'm upset because he didn't tell me what was going on. Should I ask what him what happened or pretend I didn't see for years?
Connor Wood
Oh, wait, they've known or like genuinely leave?
Alex Earl
Yeah. I don't think like crying in front of a girl is a big deal. I guess that's kind of the moral of this too.
Connor Wood
No. Ever seen Titanic? Yeah. No. You. That you should ask him and really.
Alex Earl
Seriously give him a hug.
Connor Wood
You've been dating for years. Ask why he's crying. Seriously. What? Sorry, that's mind blowing to me.
Alex Earl
So you cry in front of a girl.
Connor Wood
I would cry in front of genuine. I'll start crying right now. Yeah. If I think about anything.
Alex Earl
Yeah, okay.
Connor Wood
I can start crying right now. But that is. Yeah, I think that. I also think that I can stop here or I could keep going. I also think him saying, you should regulate your emotions and hold stuff in.
Alex Earl
So I guess that's why she's worried because he was like, hey, let's regulate these things. Right.
Connor Wood
Are you nothing? No alarms are going off in your head? Yeah. Like he's saying like, hey, keep stuff to yourself.
Alex Earl
No. Yeah, I'm saying like that doesn't seem good.
Connor Wood
That's bad. Yeah.
Alex Earl
From either end. This doesn't seem like good communication.
Connor Wood
He's telling her to regulate it.
Alex Earl
Uh huh.
Connor Wood
He's sobbing in his bedroom. Maybe shut your door all the way if you want. If you want to keep that to yourself.
Alex Earl
He's not regulating enough.
Connor Wood
He's not regulating. I think. Yeah, I think you should be regulating a little bit more. Maybe he should bottle it up.
Alex Earl
Yeah. He should push it down or find.
Connor Wood
A more private place to sob.
Alex Earl
Exactly.
Connor Wood
No, you should break up.
Alex Earl
Okay. I recently discovered my boyfriend has a secret TikTok account where he posts really cringy thirst traps. He doesn't know I've seen them. And I have no idea how to bring this up. Whoa.
Connor Wood
One thing I found is that the algorithm will find its way to you.
Alex Earl
I'm. I don't understand how you could date someone and they have a secret account. That's crazy.
Connor Wood
This is. Is Mind blowing to me that I.
Alex Earl
Feel like is for me, if I. If I found out there was some secret account Braxton was, like, doing something on, I'd be like, we have to break up.
Connor Wood
Braxton's renegading and sobbing in his bedroom. Shut the door. I. Yeah, I think. Well, depends how the account's doing.
Alex Earl
But your partner should know all of your accounts, huh?
Connor Wood
I agree, but maybe they're. Maybe she's pregnant and about to have the baby and he's like, I need to provide for this family.
Alex Earl
Are they pregnant?
Connor Wood
No. I mean, I just mad in context, I'm like, okay, maybe the account, maybe it's doing really well. Like, I wish that we would have gotten some details on the numbers in.
Alex Earl
The creator fund and providing maybe these.
Connor Wood
Like, maybe it's one of those. Like, it's a minute and one second long and he's making a lot of money from the account and. And he wants to start saving, but.
Alex Earl
He'S posting thirst traps, so. I'm not loving this.
Connor Wood
No, it's weird. I'm just thinking, playing devil's advocate, it's like, thirst traps.
Alex Earl
You're looking for attention. Oh, I'd break up with him.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
Okay. I've been dating this guy for six months and I really like him. The problem, question mark. His mom texts me every single day. She sends me recipes, memes, and random updates about her day. It's sweet, but it's also starting to feel a little too much. How do I set boundaries without looking ungrateful?
Connor Wood
Six months. How'd you. How'd you get your number?
Alex Earl
You don't think, like, you've met parents at six months?
Connor Wood
I guess. Yeah.
Alex Earl
Well, think they've been dating for six months, so maybe she knew him even before that.
Connor Wood
What would you do with this?
Alex Earl
Honestly, I think it's sweet.
Connor Wood
No, it's definitely. I like it too. It's fun and you have boundaries and stuff. I would say, like, if it's all through the day, I'd be like, hey, like, I use this as my work phone from 9 to 5, Monday through Friday.
Alex Earl
Like, I would just maybe tell him. Like, maybe tell your mom.
Connor Wood
You'd have to be so soft with that because I could see that hurting her feelings super bad. Be like, oh, I thought we had like, this.
Alex Earl
Or his feelings.
Connor Wood
Or his feelings. Yeah. And he could be like my mom. But if. If you saying that you need boundaries between his mother and you, and his feelings get hurt. I think his mom might be his priority there.
Alex Earl
Oh, this one's a good one.
Connor Wood
Hit Me.
Alex Earl
Are you ready? My boyfriend admitted to jerking off to a few of my friends while we were dating by watching their tick tocks. We've been dating for over two years and I love him more than I've ever loved someone else. And he is so kind to me. He did tell me the truth about this. So I think. But I do think it's still weird. He keeps saying that he'll never do it again and he just did it when he was feeling horny and it meant nothing to him. I want to believe him so bad and I don't want to leave him. Do you think I should end it or should I give him another chance? He is the boy of my dreams and he has never done anything wrong before this.
Connor Wood
Babe, I only jerked off to your friends when I was horny. Come on.
Alex Earl
Like Jim, I'd probably actually get a bat and whack him.
Connor Wood
Okay. So I mean, it's crazy for him to tell you like, which okay situation. I don't know how it got to the point where he's like, yeah, I mean, I was in a really dark, he felt guilty, horny place and I jerked off to all your friends. He felt guilty. But would you rather not know or would you rather.
Alex Earl
No. Because then you're dating that you know.
Connor Wood
I know. But it's also the unknown of like, is everyone's boyfriends jerking off to their friends and now it's like we never know unless you. Unless he tells you. Sorry to just like I know a bunch of people's days are ruined now, but something to think about.
Alex Earl
Yeah.
Connor Wood
If you'd rather know or not know.
Alex Earl
I mean, maybe that's a question to start asking. I just don't like anything about that.
Connor Wood
I think so.
Alex Earl
I don't like that like he did it. I don't like that he told you. Like I feel like he should have low key just like been like it was a one and done thing. Like I'm just gonna bottle that down. Do you think you have any red flags?
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
Anyone in particular?
Connor Wood
Yeah, I have this like thing going on in my head where I have like a God complex sometimes and then I have like imposter syndrome other times. And I'm constantly battling through that, which I think is a maybe potentially narcissism.
Alex Earl
Amazing. I'm excited to.
Connor Wood
Oh, and we're going to end with that. Thank you guys so much. And I told you second impressions are so important.
Alex Earl
So I would love to know. So come back after we've seeing Connor in New York.
Connor Wood
Yeah.
Alex Earl
On a few days.
Connor Wood
Yeah, yeah, I know. We'll have to just plan something and we'll. We'll see what happens. And thank you, Alex, for having me. This was so much fun.
Alex Earl
Yay. Thanks.
