Listen, this took me. I've been doing this for aging myself 15 years. So I got you. I got some things for you.

Okay. Amazing. And, yeah, we met at Vogue World.

So I was behind you and someone didn't show up, and I was like, I think we should move. I'm gonna move. Let's come in Front. And then we're sitting next to you, and we kind of, like, a little quiet at first, but then we kind of warmed up to each other. It was really fun.

I need to learn how you did this eye makeup look.

[Simone]

Okay, so usually I start with my brows, which is kind of crazy, and they're a little off today, but that's fine. I draw my brows on, and then I'll clean them. Concealer, the lightest one, like, right underneath. Which shout out to elf. Have you tried this concealer?

[Alex Earl]

No.

[Simone]

It's really lovely. It's inexpensive, and it's thick and lovely. It blends out, like, stunning. I'll show you one more.

[Alex Earl]

And you use that under your brows.

[Simone]

I do that under the brow, but now I just do, like, a little lovely little suggestion of a brow, and I go under and clean up above and below with the lightest concealer.

[Alex Earl]

Okay, I am on it. So when did you start doing drag?

[Simone]

Ooh, I started when I was 15, 16 years old, doing drag. So I've been doing it literally half my life.

[Alex Earl]

Really?

[Simone]

Yeah. Ooh. Did I just tell the truth of my age? Oh, there we go. No, there we go. Cut it.

[Alex Earl]

Cut it out.

[Simone]

And how did you get into it?

[Simone]

So I watched a little show called RuPaul's Drag Race, and it was, like, the first thing that in me that was like, oh, my God, this is what I was meant to like. It clicked in my head. And so, like, I got a job, and I just started saving up money slowly and surely. Cause I only worked on the weekends. I just started buying makeup little by little. And every day after school, I had two hours at home by myself before either one when my parents got home. So I would just. I just started playing in makeup and just figuring out my face, what worked, what didn't work. And, honey, it was wild. Cause the foundation colors were not like they were today. And at the time, YouTube wasn't what it's now, so there weren't that many people doing makeup on, especially drag makeup. So I just had to figure it out, you know, over time. So. Yeah.

[Alex Earl]

And you know what? I never do fun colors like this or anything fun on my eyes. I'm. So I just put, like, bronzer on my lid. So I seriously am gonna need your help with guidance on this.

[Simone]

I got you. I got you.

I don't know what I'm doing.

[Simone]

So we can use the pinks and stuff to transition and blend. And then we can put the pretty one of these gorgeous colors on the lid. Go in and just kind of map out your shape here. I usually start on the outside. Cause that's when you have the most room. And you can kind of clean that up easier. And then just go in, kind of bring it in like that. Mm, girl.

[Alex Earl]

Oh, my gosh. Is this pink gonna be a bad idea?

[Simone]

No, it's pretty. That's pretty. Okay, that's gorgeous. That's a wake it up color.

[Alex Earl]

This is my Tequila sunrise eyeshadow sunrise. Hi, mamas. So how was doing the show?

[Simone]

It was the best and most stressful thing I've ever done in my life, but it was the best thing I've ever done in my life. I was the most laser focused I'd ever been. Cause I was like, I'm living my dream. But also, I wanna win. And I had a pretty stunning package. So I was like, I have to show every outfit that me and my friends came up with. So I was very. We have to win. We have to do well on the challenges. Sometimes I faltered. Ain't gonna lie. I had to lip sync a couple times. Okay. A girl can't have it every day at the least. You will show every outfit that you brought to the show. You will show every outfit, you will show every wig, you will show every shoe choice that you made. It was really gratifying and just like, I've been watching it since season one. So to go on and be a part of it and then go on to win, that's so fun. It's incredible. And one of the best achievements of mine.

[Alex Earl]

Was it scary at all or, like, were you nervous?

[Simone]

I guess yes and no. Because we filmed during COVID and we were one of the first productions to go up. So I was nervous in the sense of, like, the challenges were nerve wracking, but I was just so excited to do drag again, you know, like, you see, you'll see when the makeup comes on, really gets in there. Simone comes alive. And so it just makes me. I was excited.

[Alex Earl]

I did my own makeup, actually, last night.

[Simone]

You did. You looked great. You looked really, really fabulous. I was like, her skin looks incredible. Like, it looked like, you know, the girls we have makeup on. But I was like, she looks, like, so glowy.

[Alex Earl]

Oh, thank you.

[Simone]

Yeah, thanks. What foundation do you use?

[Alex Earl]

I used. You go to Mary Phillips. But I used it for the first time because I just tried to get the products that my makeup artist uses, because I was like, I'm not trying to do this myself.

[Simone]

Help me out, girl.

I was so nervous.

[Simone]

No, you looked incredible. And the dress. Shout out for the dress, mama.

The dress was fun.

[Simone]

The dress was real good, girl. It was really good. Okay. I think you. Okay, so let's go in with a little black is too harsh. I feel.

I think so. And then that I would do outer edge and then actually make your crease, like this darker one. That's what I would do.

Like, the one that way. Okay. That's where I'm coming from.

Let me give you the direct. Let me give you the motions here, here on the outside, and, like, really going, like, here.

Okay. And did you learn everything from just

[Simone]

watching, literally watching people trial? A lot of trial and a whole bunch of error? I would say I really got good in my makeup in the past, like, five, six years. I would say, like, really, like, okay. I'm confidently good in my makeup.

[Alex Earl]

Yeah. It's always something, though, that changes, though. I feel it does.

[Simone]

Everything's always changing, you know, like, the makeup techniques and stuff. So it's like I take what I like from a trend, and I'm like, okay, this works good for my face. That's not so much. And then, like, it's always. You can kind of.

[Alex Earl]

What is wrong with me?

[Simone]

Hello. It's all that drinking you did till 6am that's what's wrong with you. Okay, so this is. What are you nervous about?

[Alex Earl]

No, I don't know.

[Simone]

I just need to do a little bit.

[Alex Earl]

It's definitely the blend in that I don't.

[Simone]

I think we should go in with another blend, like a bigger blending brush. Do we have one? No. No. Okay, so this is the one you've been using. Okay, let's use this one, I feel. And let's go in and just blend it out a little bit. Cause the shape you're getting at is really good.

[Alex Earl]

Okay. The blending is where, like, I lose it.

[Simone]

You lose it. No, that's looking great. I love that you went for the color, though. That is so fun.

You know, I'm so happy that this palette was placed down here. I need a new show to watch because I just finished everything. I just finished Traitors, and I'm also watching Love Story. You watch Traitors?

[Simone]

Oh, yes, yes, yes.

I would absolutely do traitors. Would you do Traders?

I would definitely want to be a trader. I don't. The whole guessing game thing of being, like, having to analyze, psychoanalyze every little thing would drive me nuts. I think you would actually put me in psychosis. I think I would leave in a straight jacket. They'd be like, they have to get. We have to get Simone. We gotta put her in the psych ward here. They can't even ship her home. We have to just put her in right now. So now you wanna do the lid?

Yeah.

Okay. So this is what I find is easiest. Like get the clean is that I'll do like the concealer again and I'll etch out the shape that you want.

[Alex Earl]

This is a really good concealer.

[Simone]

I don't know if I've had that before, but it was nice.

[Simone]

It's lovely. I usually just put like a dab or two on the lid and then you can. And trust me, that's more than enough with that. And you can move it around and cut out the shape that you want.

[Alex Earl]

Oh, I can use this.

There we go. There we go. There we go. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. It's coming together. The Alex Earl eye.

So this helps it like stick to the lid a little bit better to the thing. And then I'll try to put it on. This should be a little bit better.

Any old setting spray will do. Just get it wet. No pun intended. And get it wet, babe.

Okay, so this, I'll take it and put it like in the center because it's really, really pretty here. Uh huh. Is it working? My contacts are messing me up.

That's a secret weapon though. You should. If your makeup artist doesn't have that, you should get that one because it has the gold and the silver in it. So urban decay, Moon dust.

[Alex Earl]

Shout out. Urban decay, Moondust. And what I usually do, I start in the center and I usually do like this here, this side.

[Alex Earl]

[Simone]

And I go on the edge to the outside. Because this helps me really get the shape that I want and how high I want to go. So I'll go this way and I'll take it down to. There's a point at this corner of your eye, and I take it all the way down here, and then I'll go all the way out like that. This like so. And don't worry if it's too thick. We can clean it up later when we put our foundation and concealer on.

Yours looks so, like, sharp and nice in mine.

[Simone]

We're gonna get her. We're like. Cause I love a cat eye. I like a feline. I like a severe eye.

I like anything that goes out because my eyes are sort of close together. So if I do anything inwards, it's

like, it looks like your eyes are right here. We always. What I've learned about the feminine thing, you always want to elongate and, like, lift up, you know, it's coming together. It's coming together.

What was your biggest takeaway from the experience?

[Simone]

Ooh, my biggest takeaway. Probably to be more confident in myself. Like, just, like, trust myself more. Because when you're in there, you're all alone, like, you get to prepare your package as far as, like, what you bring to the show.
