A
Did you see there was like, people were spreading rumors, like 10,000 condoms have been used at the Olympics.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
I think Hillary and I can both say people aren't messing around like that at the Olympics.
B
Really?
A
People are there to do a job. Right.
C
It is also kind of like a badge of honor.
B
Right?
C
Like, when we get into the village, we're like, okay, how do we get the condoms?
A
Exactly. That's the same souvenir. Yeah.
C
You collect them?
B
You got it.
A
Yeah. I got some Tokyo condoms in my bedside table just in case Those are expired.
D
100.
A
Did you throw those out? I got to put it in my journal.
C
Ye.
A
Welcome or welcome back to House of Mar Wave Original. Take off your skates and help yourself to whatever's in the fridge. The WI FI password is otgoal, all caps. You should know by now that we have a few house rules here.
B
Girls are magic, Reading is hot.
A
And so are you. You're gonna wanna watch this one. Stay tuned for Olympic gold medal winner knights the goat. Let's get on into the group chat, which is what's happening online in our lives. Our group chats go a little crazy.
B
They go crazy.
C
They do.
B
And mostly, I mean, who isn't? But we just got back from the Winter Olympics watching over in Milan. This Olympics had so many. I just feel like insane moments that spread across the Internet. What have been some of your favorites?
A
Question. Your man tries to make you forgive him by saying he cheated on you in public. Are you forgiving him? And is that an act, a beautiful act of love?
B
I feel that's worse than in public. And I feel like she Olympic podium.
D
She wouldn't even say your man. Like, that's not her man.
B
That's not her man.
D
That's not her man.
A
Right. And they were together for six months. He cheated three months in, like, what?
D
It's just not meant to be. I fear. I fear and to use that moment
B
and, like, call her the love of your life. I just feel like you don't do that to the love of your life three months in.
A
If anything, if that's where he wanted to go. Don't say you cheat. Just say, like, I'm dedicating this medal to a woman I love. And then say her name, maybe.
B
No, I'm glad he didn't say her name. Because if he did cheat.
A
Okay, then don't say her name. But say at least just.
D
Or even to be like, elise, I want you back.
B
Oh, I see.
D
You know, I mean, it's better to
C
say you're saying I cheated.
B
No, I know.
A
That's what I'm saying. Just say you love her. Dedicating this medal to her. There you go. You don't have to say you cheated. That might work. Yeah. That's what. That's why he was able to say that.
B
Yeah. Literally, he got bronze and was yapping
A
about how he cheated Canadian curling. Cheaters.
B
More cheaters. Easy. And I feel like if you're on the Internet, or maybe I'm just so on the Internet, you know the backstory to this. But in case you're not, Canada has been, you know, accused of cheating by a couple teams, but mostly by Sweden. They've noticed it a lot. And Sweden also knows you can't see the cheating from the angles of the TV cameras. And so they had their own Swedish television set up a camera on the. What do they call it? The something line. The line to be able to catch them in the act doing the double touch on the stone. Insane levels of not petty, but just like, wow.
A
And here's the deal. Tell me we don't know anything about curling.
B
Nothing.
A
But watching that video can be like, that seems like a double touch.
D
And I don't know enough about curling, but I'm like, is that really helpful enough? Like, I feel like you're just risking it. Yeah. Why are you doing the double touch?
A
I think it's. You can get a little bit more control because you kind of lift and then you can control it a little more.
D
You think so?
A
For somebody who literally. I never watch curling, I. That seems pretty.
D
It's just not the spirit of curling.
A
It's not the spirit of curling. 100%. Because we did curl once.
B
We've curled once in Canada, and that was not part of our teaching. That's not as part of our teaching. No, no.
D
But I'm actually, like, good for the Swedes.
B
No, that's. Set up that camera so funny.
D
Because if it's going to keep happening, like, do something about it, I feel
A
bad for the guy. It is all over social media and
B
their heated exchange, too. I love how calm Sweden was because they knew. They got him.
A
They got him.
B
And the Canadian guy was, like, swearing in his face and doing all this stuff, and he was like, that's okay. I'll show you the video later. That's cold.
D
And then I think they were saying, like, it's not the spirit of curling. I'm like, well, what, to yell at
B
and scream at people?
A
No, no, no.
D
To, like, videotape that. Because also, curling is, like, so much of an Honor system, too. Like, there's no, like, judges, like. Like, TMOs. It's just like, if you just touched it, you're supposed to say it.
B
The stones lie where they.
A
Oh, really? Interesting.
B
Oh, my gosh. A gentleman's sport.
D
A gentleman's sport. Well, not Canada's gentlemen. They're not there.
B
I mean, arguably one of the more insane. Like, those are both two insane things, but. Penisgate. Did you hear about that? Are we.
C
Are you.
B
Are you up to.
A
I heard a little about that. It just seems fake.
B
I don't know.
A
So describe it to me.
B
Okay, so as best as I can understand here, right, they were male. What is it? Ski jump. What is this? It's like the long jump of skiing, apparently, where they're, like, catching air. They were filling their penises with hyaluronic acid to expand them when they're getting fitted for their ski suits. Because then when the penis size then goes down, there's extra fabric there that catches the wind and gave. Which. So they have a slightly larger suit that gives them an additional 19ft of air.
A
That's a lot of feet there. Gives them an additional 19. By having a big schlong.
B
No, no, no. By. No, they don't have the big schlong anymore. There's extra.
A
I know, I know. But that by making your pee pee bigger, makes fabric that much more bigger that you get 19ft of air.
D
Isn't the hyaluronic acid shrinking the penis?
B
I think it enlarges it.
D
It enlarges it.
A
I think it's more like almost an implant. Like a. Oh.
D
The whole time I was envisioning this of like, they're shrinking their penises so it's like, less drag.
A
No, no, no. They're making it bigger the other way.
B
Basically, they're making a parachute out of the extra fabric on their crotch from their enlarged penises.
D
I don't know about this. I don't.
A
I wonder if that's real. Cause I can't tell anymore.
B
Right?
A
We had the 10,000 condom things. I can promise you. Probably people were just taking them.
B
They weren't used.
A
5% of those condoms were actually used for their purpose. Okay.
D
Got to go crazy.
A
People aren't that much that exciting in there.
B
Not paying athletes enough.
D
They're just taking.
A
All of them are taking the condoms
D
to authentic Milan Condoms.
A
Exactly.
B
I buy one.
A
We are personally watched a lot of the figure skating. Amber Glenn, just outspoken, amazing woman who in her. What was it? The first skate. The free skateboard.
D
So her short program.
A
So a program where she made a slight error, I guess to us, we were like, that was still beautiful.
B
Apparently she missed one rotation in the air or something like that. Total.
A
But she climbed back.
B
Oh, my gosh.
A
From I think she was like 12th. Yeah.
D
To fifth.
A
To fifth.
B
Insane.
A
Insane. Because she's that good. But then we had our girl, Alyssa Lou. She just skates with a freedom.
B
What a message. She asked too.
A
Have you been hearing that clip that's going viral on TikTok?
B
You don't have to struggle to be great.
A
I don't think it's going to be hard. Why would it be hard? I get to enjoy and take this experienced. And I was like, man, chills.
B
And normally, like when I. People are like, oh, I'm not nervous. Like, whatever. I'm like, you're lying. Because like, who's not nervous? But like, just genuinely seeing her energy on the ice, she just seemed so in her body and joyful. I was like, oh, my God. Like, who is your therapist? May I talk to them, please? It was just amazing.
D
The tick tock edits I have of these two.
C
Oh, I bet.
D
Art, art, art.
B
Yeah.
A
Olivia sent me a good one of Ilia. I guess his mom was also a skater too.
D
Where the face.
A
The face.
B
Where the edit.
D
Yes. You probably sent that to her.
B
You didn't. I saw it organically.
C
Sorry.
A
Oh, sorry. No, we've been loving it all. A lot of the content, I will say, a lot of it I've done. I think it was cool to see these Olympians diving into their content and see themselves. A lot of the. The single content and just the fun. Showing their personalities, showing the value. We personally enjoyed Jake Pates. Yeah, Hilarious.
B
I feel like sometimes with content like you either have it or you don't. He's got it.
A
Like he's got it. He was doing great content.
B
Yeah.
A
Even the others. Nick baumgartner, hilarious, hilarious 44 year old snowboarder just having the time of his life at the Olympics.
B
Time of his life. And on social media.
A
Yeah, he does that one where he's like looking out for all the women. My mom told me I'd have to chase off because I'm so handsome.
B
Oh, and it's an empty mountain.
A
Yeah. Great stuff. We loved it. They really gave us a in depth look into the Winter Olympics because I think that summer we did it super well. This was kind of cool to get a taste of that as well.
D
Also, Layla Edwards and her teammates addiction to this move. They're on the US Hockey team.
B
It's a dance move.
C
Yep.
D
I saw like 15 videos.
A
Oh, really? And they stuck to it.
D
I love it.
A
I liked Layla's mom.
C
Oh, yeah.
A
Biggest supporter. She was always wearing her daughter stuff. She would just be in random videos. I tried to find her ads because I would like to follow this woman.
B
Yeah, right.
A
So let me know where your ad is. I'm liking your content or just the vibe she's bringing. Just so proud of her daughter watching everything.
C
That's gorgeous.
A
That's great. Of Team USA's like 12 gold medals this year, it's something crazy. Like eight were won by women.
D
60% women.
A
And we got ourselves a gold medalist on today. We got one of those eight.
B
We got one of them here, which
D
I always think is so funky when they're like 12 gold medals. But I'm like, if it's a team sport, shouldn't it be like 12?
A
No, I don't, I don't.
D
I know.
B
I get it.
D
But I'm like 12 people won a gold medal, you know, I love it. Like a whole team.
A
I hear you. I hear you.
B
All right, enough of this Olympic oversharing. Over to today's guest.
A
Our fourth Marshall today is a certified legend who just capped off one of the most dominant careers in all of hockey history. She's a five time Olympian, a two time gold medalist and the all time leading scorer for Team usa. She didn't just play the game, she built it. She spearheaded the creation of the PWHL and became the first captain of the new Seattle Torrent. Fresh off getting the job done at the 2026 Milan Olympics where her team took home gold. She scored the game tying goal in the final. We saw that. Very exciting. And she proposed to fellow Olympian Brittany Both. We're so glad to have her with us today. Welcome to the family. The goat herself, Hillary Knight. Wow.
C
Usa. Usa. Usa.
A
Welcome.
C
Let's go.
A
We dressed up for you.
B
Yeah, we got all dressed up.
C
We're in a red, white and blue. Oh my gosh.
B
You're really a sister today.
C
I love it.
B
How are you? Where are you joining us from?
C
I'm in Seattle because we have a PWHL Torrent game on Friday that we're gearing up for.
B
You got a clock right back in.
C
Oh, yeah, yeah. The grind does not stop and I love it.
A
You like that?
D
Okay.
B
You're down to keep rolling.
C
Yeah, but like it's like, it's like weird now, right? Like, I still want to wear my Team USA fit, but like now I'm back in the pro circuit, right?
A
Any Team USA teammates are on Seattle as well.
C
Yes, we have a handful. So we have Hannah Bilka, Kayla Barnes, and Alex Carpenter, all legends. Also.
A
How are you gonna walk in with your medal or something or just like, hey, what's up?
C
I haven't thought that through yet, to be honest, but now that you mentioned, I probably have to have, like, a fire fit of some sort and a metal accessory.
B
Wouldn't be sunglasses, to be sure. Or something. Or something.
A
Definitely just like a little bag. Like, not a bag that you would carry hockey gear in, but you know how they. They do it in wnba, which is like a tiny bag and you just look cool.
C
Yeah.
D
All right, well, thank you so much for coming over. We're going to bring us on into tea time today. So you're fresh home and fresh off from taking gold at the Olymp picks for Team usa. What was your mentality going into the Games?
C
My mentality was honestly just to soak everything up. Like, I think you go to your first games, you're just super excited, super grateful to be there. And then you go to your second, you're like, oh, my gosh, like, the team's a little bit different. Third, fourth. And now that I'm going to my fifth, it's like, okay, this is my last one. Like, I really just want to, like, just feel it all, just go with the vibes, lean into it and just have a lot of fun. Really embrace, like, being with the women that are there in our locker room and, like, just such an epic team to be a part of. So that was my mindset. And I think originally when I was working through, like, if it was going to be my last games or not, it made me, like, really sad, right? Because it's, like, so fleeting. But every athlete has an expiration date. And to be able to go out on top was so special. And to do it with that group, like, the most dominant women's hockey team on the greatest world stage, I mean, it doesn't get better than that. So I hope you guys all felt the love in the room because that's. That's, like, it came through our play. Like, I think you're seeing it now in different media bits and stuff. But, yeah, it was just so special to be a part of.
A
I posted on my story, but I also loved what you said because you talk about soaking in the moment, so there is about soaking in the moment, but also, like, I want to. I want to again win. I'm here to win, which I thought was beautiful.
C
I wanted to cement our legacy like, as a group and, you know, like, if you don't win at the end of the journey or find some reward, like, there's nothing to really, like, celebrate that group. And, like, that was something that when, you know, I jumped into this quad to be like, hey, like, let's build this room. Let's have, like, the craziest amount of vulnerability and trust with one another. So when we do get in those, like, high performance situations, it's just go time and it's just all good vibes and being able to put everything out there. So at the end of the day, we do get the result that we want, and it's never guaranteed, but when you can get reward at the end of the journey, now we have some, like, amazing touch points. Flavor Flav is reaching out. Like, there's going to be some epic reunions, to say the least, which is really exciting.
B
Did you guys get to party all together in Milan?
C
Yeah.
B
You did?
C
Yeah.
A
Are you sober right now? Be honest.
C
I am sober right now, but there was, you know, a time when I was for a few days riding on, like, 45 minutes of sleep, and that was pretty scary and wild all at the same time. But, yeah, the. The nightclubs in Italy are no joke. Like, yeah, it's wild.
B
We managed to. We managed to go to one, and we were like, this is gonna be so great. We're gonna be kissing boys all night.
C
And we get in there, and it
B
must have been like, the gay night. It was all men dancing. Like, it was Italian ABBA music. We were like. But honestly, we had the time of our lives because there was no pressure.
C
We weren't being perceived.
B
We were just dancing. So I had the time. I had a great time in the Milan clubs.
C
Yeah. Can't go wrong with that, though.
A
We can't go wrong. No Italian Abbott Hillary I thought was interesting. Was I kind of similar to rugby in some senses? Sometimes those pool play games, you know, when you just, like, skate through and you're like, they can almost be a trap, I guess, like, when you beat somebody by five to. Oh. Some worst teams would be like, well, cakewalk. Can't wait to play. And I thought it was, like, honestly an experience that I've had. I think probably some people were shocked. Like, why. Why is it such a close game, but pool play versus how teams can evolve and change over such a short time? I mean, did you play, like, a different Canada team? Did you guys play a little differently, or is that just hockey as is how it became kind of a very fierce competition? In that last game, yeah, I mean,
C
we saw a completely different Canada team than we. We had seen earlier in the tournament. And I think the veterans knew that they were going to not go down without a crazy fight. And that was just like an epic battle of a game, like, back and forth, up and down the ice. Unbelievable, right? But a completely different team than we saw in pool play. And so, you know, I think that's what one of the strengths of our team is, having some people. It's their first time there, right? So they still have, like, that energy, that naivety in the best way that we can T tap into because they're not scared of, you know, oh, if Canada comes out differently, like, they're just there to show up and. And do their thing. Right. And so just really kind of balancing the room in that way. But also, like, we had an understanding that, you know, you don't want to poke the bear, right? Because that they're going to come out swinging. And so, yeah, you saw this amazing rivalry that you always see in the biggest moments with the brightest spotlights on us, but was quite a fight. I know we kept people on the edge of their seats, but it's also weird because I never felt like we weren't going to get the job done, and I just. It's just like a testament to our group, right? Like somebody was gonna get it done. It was just like this magical feeling, you know, I.
A
That's just be two athletes together here, Hillary. But that happened to me in my. One of my matches where, like, in our bronze medal, after something, somebody scored first, but it was never, like, to me, like, oh, my gosh, we're gonna lose this. I was like, okay, chill. They scored first. Like, it almost if. I think if you're an elite enough athlete or have that mindset, even you, I mean, time was ticking down, and you were probably. I don't know what your mindset was, but I imagine was like, there is time left. We can do this. And then when you looked back at the goal to see it, how. What did that feel like?
C
Yeah, I don't even know. I can't. Like, it's insane, but just, like, pure joy. And then, you know, we get that power break, which is like the Olympic version of the. A TV timeout, so we didn't have to burn a timeout. Right? It just felt like everything was kind of stacking in our favor in that way. And you're looking for signs, too. You know, you're like, okay, this feels good. We got the players that we Wanted out in under two, and we won the draw. We had great possession. There's all these things that were aligning, and so going into overtime, you know, it was just like, all right, we don't know who's going to get it done. We don't know when it's going to get done, but it's going to get done. And it was just such a powerful feeling that I really. It's hard to put into words. It was just like, you just knew. And I know that you can say that it's easy to say that after the fact, but genuinely, like, we're like, hey, three on three. Let's go.
D
I can say I became a huge hockey fan while watching you guys over there. I'd never really been tapped in, but I was talking to them, and I was like, it is so nice to be a fan of a team where you're just so confident in them. Yeah, we're going to your games, be like, what's this one gonna be? 5,0?
B
I was like, we are hockey gods here in the United States of America.
C
Oh, this feels so.
D
Feel so confident going in. I loved it. And you guys just dominated and just. I saw this wonderful quote beforehand of when the US Plays Canada. It's war. I went to a bar in Midtown to watch your gold medal match, and
C
we were all just like, guys, this is war.
D
But we got this, like, we are on the ice. We got.
B
We're on the ice with them, right?
D
Yeah.
B
And do you. Because obviously, huge rivalry. Canada, usa. Do you face the Canadian players outside of that? Do they play in the PWHL as well, or what's that kind of lineup?
C
Yeah, like, we're teammates, actually, on Team Canada is one of my teammates here in Seattle, so obviously, I just saw her this morning and big hugs and kind of leaving, like, the international play aside. But, yeah, it's kind of weird. I don't know if we're just really good, like, compartmentalizers or what, but when. Whenever you throw that USA jersey on, it is like, go time, and you want to plaster somebody against the glass. Like, you want to win at any cost and at all costs, because that's how much it means to you. And it's just, like, ingrained in our fabric. And, you know, I think that's just what makes it such a beautiful rivalry, is it's both sides, and we're continuing to push the envelope, continuing to, you know, design different styles and schemes and push pace and whatnot. And it's been awesome to just see the game flourish. On the international stage because of both of our team's efforts.
A
My big question. You decided to propose before the gold medal match. Was that just the case when spirits were still high in case anything happened? Because afterwards, maybe you wouldn't have been down for a lifelong marriage commitment. Take us through that decision. Okay.
C
So I had the ring, like, pretty early on in the tournament, and I was just, like, so nervous. I was like. Like, it's not the day. Right? Like, I was like, I got a game here. Like, she's got a ra. Like, no. So we had, like, opposite schedules in terms of, like, competition, which didn't leave much, like, free time for us, I guess, but we were able to, like, still cheer each other on. Um, and then I was kind of just, like, looking through the calendar. I was like, okay, like, our gold medal game is the day after tomorrow. And then, like, her race is two. Okay. Um, and then, like, when we win, we're going to be on this crazy media tour, and we're not going to have time, like, any personal time. And I'm probably going to be hungover and really tired, and that's not the vibe either. So, like, I got to do this tomorrow morning.
B
Oh, stop.
A
Hillary's on that board, like, okay, here.
B
And then she's got red strings.
A
She's trying to figure out the perfect time. And we actually got to meet Brittany. While I got to meet her, she came to and saw us in the stands.
B
At your first Canada game.
A
At your first game. First Canada game. Now I. My big thing was I'm at the Olympics, you know, and as many people were doing this Olympics, too, but being single, looking for love, and. And you actually did it.
B
Yeah.
A
Hillary, you found love at the Olympics. How did this happen? Tell me. Maybe if. When I hopefully go to LA 2028, I actually can learn from a master. Yeah.
B
Tips and tricks.
A
Tips and tricks.
C
Yeah. No, I mean, we met, like, I think it was Korea. And, you know, I was in a different relationship, and it just obviously, like, wasn't going to be a thing. And then in Beijing kind of kicked up conversation again. And I don't know if it was just because, like, there were no friends and family. We were kind of, like, locked down. It was very prisony vibes, like, there's nothing to do. It was like, hey, do you want to, like, go on walks? So we literally went on walks around, like, the compound of the athlete village, right, with our masks on, because we're both, like, terrified of spreading Covid and all this craziness that was going on at the time. And we just got to like, learn each other, learn about one another in like a really natural, like, unnatural environment, I guess. And so while like all this crazy media pressure and the Olympic stage and whatnot was going on, we were able to kind of like peel that back and just be like humans in this really, like, wild situation, which I think like, really helped block out a lot of the noise because I don't know if, if we hadn't spent that time together, like, I don't even know if we would be a thing. You know what I mean? So it's kind of crazy to like look back that out of Beijing. That was such a great blessing for both of us. And that's why it was important for me to propose at the Olympics, considering it's both of our last ones. And yeah, it just felt right.
B
Chills down my body.
A
What the hell did you. This isn't about that. But did you see there was like people were spreading rumors, like 10,000 condoms have been used at the Olympics.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
I think Hillary and I can both say people aren't messing around like that at the Olympics.
B
Really?
A
People are there to do a job, right?
D
Yeah.
C
I don't know, like, maybe they didn't order enough condoms. Maybe they got lost. Like, I really don't know, like, what's going on there. But it is also kind of like a badge of honor. Like, like when we get into the village, we're like, okay, how do we get the condoms?
A
Exactly. That's the same souvenir.
B
You got it?
C
Yeah.
A
I got some tok condoms in my. In my bedside table just in case those are expired. Those are expired 100%. Did you throw those out? I gotta put it in my journal. Yeah. Okay, sisters, if you're counting down to the second batch of season four of Bridgerton same.

B
I want to just quickly ask if we can. We saw the video from the men's U.S. locker room with the phone call that they received. What is your response to that?
C
I thought the president's joke was, like, distasteful. Like, it wasn't funny, right? And that's just like, that's a fact. You know, I think the guys were in a. In a tough environment there, but it's also a wonderful teaching point because it's. What we accomplished isn't laughable. Right? And so I think it's. It's a very, like, complex issue where you do have sort of like, what goes on behind closed doors, how women are being represented in different conversations. But at the end of the day, none of that should be put on us to be able to explain someone's behavior. Right. And what should be happening is celebrating all of the women, the amazing feats, specifically with our team, the men's team as well, but also how the women carried at the Olympics, like, that's pretty epic. So to kind of just have a slight. Quickly, it was just distasteful. But to be honest, getting back in our different communities and just seeing the overwhelming support on social media has been outstanding. And, you know, we are getting celebrated in the way that we need to be. And I'm really excited and looking forward to continuing those conversations and also using this as a learning point of view. You know, how we talk about women not only in sport, but in other industries. And it should never be less than it should always be about championing women and. And, you know, supporting one another. And, you know, throughout the tournament, I think both teams did an incredible job of having genuine support and, you know, establishing friendships together. So, yeah, I think, you know, it's a learning point and we're going to continue to move forward, but I'm excited to celebrate all of our success as just these badass women on the world stage doing our thing. You know, you guys are.
A
Have so much fun. I'm gel. I'm jealous of that when after we won the medal, we were kind of put on, like, a media tour and like, 12 hours of just interview after interview, and I never really got to celebrate together. So. Not that you already know this, because it's your fifth Olympics, but, like, dang journal that. And, like, really take it in. Like, this is the time. It's so. What a special group. And also to hopefully really get to cheer on that. You changed hockey in many ways as well. I mean, what. What's the message for young girls who are deciding to play hockey? What would be your kind of pitch to get them into hockey?
C
Yeah, just try it, I think, you know, I just look back at my experience and being able to travel the world, receive an education, and meet amazing people. Like, those three things, buckets filled. And that's all because I tried to sport, and I was terrible at it for many, many years. But I think the people kept, kept, kept, you know, in wanting me to come back in terms of, like, I wanted to do better. I wanted to make friends. I wanted to be a part of that community. And so that was super special for me. So if I'm looking at sort of a young girl, it's like, try. Try a sport. Try hockey, whatever it is. Like, find something that you're passionate about and set goals and try and go after those goals. I think it's so underrated when you can, you know, have a map. And it doesn't always go the way that you want, but it'll work out the way it needs to. And there's so much power and unity through sport. And, yeah, I just. I can't imagine where I would be without sport. It's just so special.
B
And I imagine a lot of players look up to you in the career that you've had when you were starting out, who was sort of your big sister in hockey.
C
So Cammie Granado is like the goat to me. That's actually why we're number 21. And I cannot believe they gave me her number. Like, you fill out, like, a little form, they're like, what number do you want? I was like, 21. No chance. I get it.
A
Boom.
C
Got it. I was like, what? This is insane. Like, are you serious? You're like, I got them all.
A
Yeah.
C
So she was one, and then Angela Ruggiero when I. So I joined the US program because we didn't have, like, under 18s or anything at the time. So I joined the senior team right away when I was in high school. And, yeah, Angela Ruggiero was one of those figures that really took me under her arm and kind of showed me the ropes and taught me how to be a pro and how to approach different things. And, yeah, just like an older sister. And I. I'm the oldest I have three younger brothers, so it was really awesome and unique for me to have an older sister in that way.
A
To me, if you've been to five Olympics, you should be, like, 45 right now.
D
How.
A
When.
C
When was.
A
How old were you at your first Olympics?
B
20.
C
In between. Sophomore, junior year. College. Solid. Yeah.
D
Still in college. Wow.
C
But then, like, you go back to school, you're like, oh, like, I don't want to go back to the ncaa.
B
Like, I'm a medalist.
C
Great tour, right?
B
Great for the ego. Now, what is the itinerary in Vegas? Can you drop us the deets? What's going on with Flavor Flav? I don't know.
C
He's. He is, like, full sending this thing, and I think, you know, I think it's great. I mean, obviously, you see all the brands and different partners that want to be involved, and, you know, he. I've never met him, so I'm really looking forward to meeting him. But another reason for us to get together and celebrate the girlies. Like, let's go. I'm all for it.
B
Has he opened up an invite to all Olympians and Paralympians? I saw lower.
A
You could look into, I think winter. Oh, winter. Only Women. Women, I think, too.
C
Oh, sad.
B
Well, I'll be. Ah.
A
I'll be there.
B
She'll show up.
A
That's my dog. Flavor is my dog. I can call him up. I'll be over there. I recently posted a close friend story. Forgot I had him on there.
B
She said something a bit vulgar.
A
I said something pretty vulgar on my close friend story. And then Flavor Flav commented on. I was like, oh, Flava. Sorry, bud.
B
Obsessed with you putting him in there in the first place.
A
I don't know, Hilary, or. You made my close friends. I'll add you. It's nothing good, but whatever.
C
That's kind of content, though.
A
Yeah, right?
C
Yeah, right.
B
It's real.
D
Look inside your mind.
A
Do you have siblings?
C
I have three younger brothers. Yeah. We're all within five years, so tight. Whoa, whoa.
D
I'm sure you get that a lot.
B
Whoa.
C
Yeah, yeah.
B
No concern for your mother.
A
Three younger brothers.
B
Three younger brothers.
A
So they didn't want to be like the Wynn brothers and make content.
B
They were just saying outfit.
A
They were just watching.
B
What's up?
C
How. How do you compete with the Wind Brothers?
B
True.
C
I guess.
D
I immediately texted Olivia. I was like, we've got to step up our production value.
C
Backflips.
B
Oh, no.
A
Backflips.
B
No.
A
Okay.
B
Are they doing backflips?
C
Yeah.
B
Oh, Dre, clock in now.
D
I'll get to the backflip factory.
B
Oh, my God.
A
I thought their last post before your game, where they'd been doing these kind of really eccentric, cool outfits, and then the last post was like, this is our reveal for our next. The final game. And it was just them in the jersey. And to really put all the focus on you guys, I was like, that's these motherfuckers.
B
Good.
A
That's real good. I think that it was important, like, that is the focus was just on you guys, on the. On the. The exceptional hockey that you guys were playing. And also, you really showed that hockey is a sport that can be watched by both men and women. Women's hockey can be watched by both men and women. It's entertaining, it's fast, it's electric. So I guess what do you say to that? Because that's also been a problem for me in rugby, is that, oh, well, you know, women's hot. Women's rugby is, like, not as. It's different. It's not the same as men's rugby. I'm like, yeah, it's different, but that doesn't make it bad or any less exciting. Any less exciting.
C
I mean, I think just the same sort of colloquially like, oh, you don't hit, you don't fight kind of thing. Like, that's always something that we've had to deal with on. On the women's side, but I feel like that's changing. And I don't know if it's just like, the narrative with our own pro league and having a. A place to be able to continue to watch us that's not once every four years. So that's an awesome thing that's changing for us. But, yeah, I don't know. I think, you know, just going into the tournament, just reminding the girls, I was like, we are America's team, and we need to inspire everybody every stride of every shift. And that was just, like, such a focal point for us. And it didn't matter who we're inspiring. Like, we're America's team, right? And so you saw that in our play, and now people are talking about how we're breaking the mold and how this is the best USA Hockey team they've ever seen. And that's. That's what we've been doing, right? And so, yeah, I think that conversation has shifted, which, you know, well overdue, but glad it is shifting. And hopefully we've garnered more eyes to be able to now watch us in the professional leagues and also at the collegiate level.
B
And I love that there is this beautiful, like cherry on top to having a pro league in the United States of America. We won a gold medal because there was the investment in women's hockey here, like locally, which same thing kind of in rugby. Like England won the World Cup. They have a pro league in England. Like, the money is invested and it's like, it's like seeing what's possible when you do invest in these athletes and kind of give it a bigger game on, like on home turf, I think is so sick.
C
Imagine that just simple as investment and visibility.
A
What if you pay, like if you
C
know where we're playing, you're showing up. Yeah.
D
Literally for those of us who are like just meeting the players on the team for the first time through the Olympics. Could you walk us through your Olympic lineup?
C
Oh, my gosh. Yeah. We literally, like, we just have all the personalities. So, like, you know, we've got, you know, the jokester and you know, the people who bring the energy, bring the light heartedness. You've got like the serious people, you know, we've got our goalie trio who, you know, Aaron's doing her Caesar salad ratings on the side. We really have like everything right. And so I think that's just what made us so powerful is we just genuinely enjoy being around one another because there's inspiration you can draw from everyone in that room. But also you could literally call up anybody on any given day and be like, hey, you want to go walk and get a coffee? Or just like have a touch point over the phone. And I think that's rare when you get into those like high performance environments because they become so selective and so. So, yeah, it was just genuine love and support. And yeah, that group is just so special. And I don't know how else to describe it.
B
Right.
C
It's just like they're like our sisters and I don't have sisters, so it's special.
B
And was there a challenging moment for you at this Games as a team captain?
C
Definitely. So I think just I ended up getting a little banged up and so just going through that and trying to like push through an injury but also show up at my best for people who needed me was really important and an emphasis point for me. But you know, when you're in the training room getting like three hours of treatment and you just want to go out and hang out with the girls and go to that coffee shop or explore, you know, just different sites in Milan, you have to hang back and kind of like take care of yourself. So there's this like Weird balance for me that I really had to tap into, like, both sides when needed. Um, so that was definitely hard. But the other stuff, you know, we do a lot of the work. Like, we've been together for this whole quad, and we've prepared so much for those big moments that it's really, like, you just let your skills kind of flourish. Like, they just take over, and you just tap into that flow state, and you're good to go. And it was. It sounds really simple. It's not. But when you get into that big moment, you know, you're not preparing anymore. You're just performing. And so, you know, all the other stuff just rolls off the shoulders.
B
That's beautiful. Who's the biggest yapper on the team?
C
Like, on ice?
B
Yeah. Or I guess just of your sister. Teammates.
C
Who's the. Murph is awesome.
B
Murph. Okay.
C
Yeah, Murph, like, she just. She's this uncanny ability to get under anybody's skin, and I just. And you know what? Her play backs it up, too. Name someone that can do that at the best.
A
Do you guys yap at each other on the rink? Are you. Is that. Is that part of hockey culture?
C
Yeah. Like, you're like. Some people are yelling stuff over the bench. Like, some are doing it, like, in play or going into a draw. I don't really talk too much, but, yeah, like, people who do. It's like, such a big art, and they're so good at it, and I'm just done. Sometimes I'm like, how did you even think about that in that moment? Like, I'm trying to catch my breath.
B
Yeah.
D
Yeah. Well, you.
B
You suck.
C
Yeah.
A
That's what I would do.
C
My big thing was, like, I used to tell people that they look tired because I was like, I'm just. I'm playing the mental. Are you okay? Like, you look a little tired.
A
I get the girls sometimes who. They'll cross the field or. Or, you know, you try to make them feel bad, like, oh, we got a mismatch here. And I was like, who are you talking to? We heard this. I'll beat your ass.
C
Say that to me again.
A
You know, and that's something I would do, too.
B
But, like, like, that.
A
You could say they look tired. Guys, Guys. They're looking. That's. Yeah. Yeah. It's like, oh, we do that rugby, too.
B
That's a good one. I'm gonna start saying that to Adrian, which is pissing me off. Yeah.
C
You know, like, if someone trips you, like, if you're that type, you're like, all right, Full gas. Like, let's go. Like, yes, exactly. You know, like, fire me up.
A
Like, you don't want to do that in the face.
C
Yeah.
B
100.
C
Yeah.
A
Let's go.
B
Adrian and I, too. Yeah. Gas is up. Gases us up, up. Right, right, right. Athletes, huh? Athletes ourselves, Right? Yeah.
A
Hillary, we're gonna get into a segment we call Try Hard. You. You might know rugby. What's a try in rugby?
C
A try.
A
Yeah.
C
Isn't it when you go for the. Oh, gosh, is it the ultra zone?
D
Yeah.
A
So close. Yes, yes, yes. Into the tri zone.
B
It's like.
C
I'm sorry, the lingo is, like, lost on me.
B
No, it's okay.
A
You worked very hard there, and I put you on the spot. Most people I just tell, but I was thinking maybe, you know. But you know now. So this game is called Try Hard. We're asking questions. Yeah, you do.
B
Yes.
A
There we go.
C
Hell, yeah.
A
Hell, yeah. And just answer these as quickly as possible or just, you know, thoughtful as possible. Whatever you want, truly. What's your go to coffee order?
C
Ice vanilla latte or an ice maple latte.
A
Oh, Hillary, I've been making these ice maple lattes. I've been. I totally drawn about this. Do you make your lattes at home? Have you started that?
C
I haven't, but I have a machine now, and it's in Salt Lake. So when I'm home, I am like, full send, and I'm so excited you're coming for it.
A
You're coming for it.
C
So if you have tips, send it my way. No joke.
A
She had to have her team over
D
and calibrate it for her. She's got a scale. She. Someone held her hand through this.
B
They went through, like, $50 in beans just to, like, calibrate this thing. It seems like an intense.
C
All right, guys. I watched a two hour YouTube video with Britt to try and figure out how to be like, the barista on this machine thing.
A
And I did that as well. And I realized I need somebody there, so I had my friend come who does it on her own machine, and it's a whole process again. I used a lot of beans, and I didn't use cheap beans either. They were like a $40 pack of beans. And she's like, oh, we gotta pull it again. I was like, do it.
C
That seemed like a good espresso pull.
A
She's like, no, it was too fat. Like, okay, no, I have some tips. I'll message you later. Yeah, 18 grams, everyone.
B
18 grams.
D
Someone's about to be like, 17.9. Yeah. All right. Who's your favorite winter Olymp in this year, besides your lovely fiance, Brittany.
C
Thank you for the caveat. Michaela Schifrin.
B
Love her.
C
Yeah. But Alyssa lose, like, I don't know, figure skating. It's really hard to pick out of everything, probably.
B
Yeah.
C
Like, I just think it's. It's so cool how Michaela found success. She went through, like, her journey, and then she's back on top and really, like, stapled and cemented. Be like, like, I'm here. Like, this is me. Like, I am the best gear in the world. So I really enjoyed cheering her on from the bus. We're on the back of the bus with, like, our phones pulled up the feed.
B
I love.
A
Have you ever stolen anything?
C
Yeah. Okay. When I was a child, I went to someone's birthday and they had gifts for the boys and gifts for the girls. And I just liked the boys gift better because it was just like Swiss army watch night. Like, wait, not. What is it? GI Joe, like, watch or something. And I was like, I want that more than the doodle pen. And so I put that sucker right underneath my shirt and it popped out. And so they definitely knew I had something under my shirt. But I tried to go home like that, and then I got a stern talking tooth from my parents.
B
But did you leave with it at least? And a stern talking.
C
No. Or give it back.
A
Oh, she made you get it back.
C
I did have the doodle penny. I got the doodle pen.
D
At least you got the doodle pen. But I think you were actually. You're in the right.
A
Yeah.
D
You know, it was just stacked against you.
B
Yeah.
D
For that one.
B
Your number one oppos. Doodle pens. Now, you know what?
C
Those. The, like the diagrams, the plastic ones, and it would like vibrate and you'd make the cool geometric shapes. It was one of those. Yeah.
B
Oh, got you.
A
That happened once. I was at a rugby fundraiser thing and they gave the boys Nintendo switches and they gave the girls bags. Like, let us choose. I was like, oh, what's that you got there? I would. I don't even want either, really. But I was like, that's about a thousand dollar thing. This is a 200 bag. I mean, it's a nice bag, I guess.
B
Crazy. Yeah.
A
We were not happy.
D
You've had that chord, like prizes being watches and such.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
I should have. I should have stolen one. Darn. My mom wouldn't have known. She would never made.
B
You should have tucked it under your shirt and walked out next Time.
D
Who cares if it sort coming up a little bit. All right, what's your least favorite workout? Like burpees, mountain climbers.
C
Burpees and mountain climbers are completely off. Like if my strength coach Wyatt like wrote those and I'd be like haha, no. So those would definitely be on the list but probably chin ups, like they just, if you haven't been doing them regularly, they're so hard when you revisit them and they're such a great exercise. But I'm just like, like I got to pull my body up to the bar again.
A
Like Exactly. And I also feel like depending on your cycle too, like some time of the month I'm like, I am the strongest person alive. I can do nine pull ups and then I get some days I'm like Woo. Wow, this 200 is feeling real heavy now.
C
Yeah.
B
Right?
A
In this house we're no strangers to setting records.
D
So obviously our haircare has to match our level.
B
Meet K18, a hair care brand that's been breaking rules and records since day one. When they couldn't find real lasting hair repair, they literally invented it.
A
You could genuinely be a hair model right now, you guys.
B
I took Adriana's advice and got a haircut and started taking care of my hair with K18. With K18.

A
Well, I mean heat arrivalry has been so big is I think that I feel like he rivalry probably happens a lot more in even women's hockey. It happens a lot. Like that sort of storyline happens a lot in women's rugby. We travel all over. We constantly are meeting our competitors in various places. In various places.
C
Yeah.
A
Do we have a heated rivalry? Should we have another one coming out with Women.
B
Yeah.
A
Actually realistic.
C
Yeah. I mean, it's crazy because honestly, like, like, it just watching. First of all, I was like, oh, yeah, I'm gonna watch this heated ravelry. No idea storyline, no idea about the book. And then like, the first episode, I'm like, what am I watching? Like, this is wild.
B
You were like, so ready to watch hockey stuff.
A
Yeah.
C
Like, is this every episode? Like, this is wild? Like, I did not expect this, but no, it was so, like, tastefully done. Like, once you got into the storyline, like, everything kind of like, made sense and, like, the art of everything and the movement and just. Just I don't know. And I don't know if it's like, where they were, like, geographically and the different, like, tent poles that they're sort of like, hitting of like, Sochi Olympics and anti, you know, gay movements there and. And whatnot. But it just evokes so many emotions for me because I like, kind of like, live through that same, like, timeline. Right. Like, I went to those same places. I went to the ulcer break. So it was kind of wild for me to like, watch that. And then also, like, in the back of my mind being like. Like, hehe. Like, yeah, that does happen on the women's side. This is real.
A
What would your. Your and Britney. Britney's book be called? This is. That's pretty much not a he rivalry, but that could be a book.
D
Like, Different Blades.
A
Blade. Different Blades. Oh, my gosh.
C
Yeah. That would be sick.
B
Adriana's gotta.
C
It was similar, right? Like, I'm like, okay, like, one. Like, we're worried about this, like, global pandemic thing. So as soon as we got to, like, that point in the village where it's like, okay, it's contained, like, we can't actually, like, get it or spread it in theory, right? It was like sneaking down in the. In the stairwell to go, like, the speed skater level, like, where they were. Right. And like, kind of sneaking around the village and. Yeah. It's just funny.
B
Hey, Johnny, better be taking notes. You're writing this book for them.
D
That's her memoir, Inspired.
B
Since you are now a part of the family, you've got to help out around the house a little bit. So you're going to choose a chore to do. Okay. And there's going to be a corresponding task, ask or challenge, whatever. So do you want to do the laundry, dishes, vacuuming, or. Or shovel some snow? Oh.
C
Oh, my gosh, that's hard because I love vacuuming and I love shoveling snow. One of the two okay, well, you're
B
gonna shovel some snow because obviously Adriana just escaped a blizzard, so she needs a little help. Share the last three things you Googled.
C
I honestly don't know. Probably like, one of my teammates birthdays, just to make sure I didn't miss it, which is really awesome. We can Google each other, because that's easy. No, but I've just been scrolling a lot. I haven't really been on Google too much.
B
Okay, so since you've been scrolling, what's your latest, like, rabbit hole? Is there something funny you're clocked in on, or what do you. What are you seeing the most?
C
Honestly, like, just the post Olympic, like, celebr celebrations, I guess, and, like, people's hot takes and stuff have just been endless. So recently, I've tried to, like, recalibrate my algorithm, and I searched Seattle top coffee spots because I'm in an awesome coffee market, and I can't wait to try a bunch of the local places. So true.
A
That's great.
C
Yeah.
B
In control of her own algorithm. I love it.
D
She's.
A
She's in control.
B
She's in control. I don't know if it works that way.
C
I like to think it does.
D
You can train it.
A
Hillary, thank you so much for coming on. I know it's busy. You literally just arrived home. But we appreciate it so much. And for your wise insight, I feel like I know you. How tall are you, by the way?
C
510 and change.
A
She literally could be ours.
B
You could literally be our sister.
A
She fits here. Okay. What's your bmi, though?
C
We were just talking about bmi.
A
Everyone, make sure to follow Hillary at Hillary Knight on IG and get into women's hockey over at the PWHL Instagram at PWHL official. Send us some pics from Vegas and let me know if you want me there, because you should go.
B
She'll show up.
C
Why wouldn't you?
A
You're right. Let me. Let me. I'll message Flavor Flav again. This time I will be more cautious with it. But you are amazing. The whole team is so inspiring. What you guys did and showed to not just young girls, but to us. So to women who probably never play hockey. I mean, we loved it. We had such a great time watching, and you guys are just.
B
Yeah.
A
The absolute goats. You are the goat.
B
You are the goat. And congratulations again. I mean, what a run. What an Olympic run.
A
What a run.
C
I love it.
B
Well, thanks for coming.
C
Thank you.
D
All right, let's head on into the book now. Up first, Dolly Alderton. Famously One of my favorite authors, who I've only read one book of.
A
Sorry.
D
She wrote the screenplay. Do you call it a screenplay when it's just like the script anyway, for Pride and Prejudice. It's coming out, it's new. My immediate thoughts, do we need another Pride and Prejudice adaptation?
B
The counter to that is, do we need another Spider man movie? Do we need another Batman?
D
And I can tell you my answer
B
for those is no.
A
Okay, so they've already casted Emma Corn and Jack Loudon. I will have to see. I don't know if you can beat a. Who do we have in the. The movie that I love? Cure Nightly. And the other guy, I don't know, Darcy's name.
D
Succession Guy.
A
Succession Guy. Can you beat that? I mean, you have a truly a masterpiece to try to come up against.
B
True, but people would then say that about the ones that came out before that one too. You know, every version is so loved by a certain demographic. And I think if somebody could breathe new fun life into this, it's gonna be Dolly alderton.
A
You're right. 100%.
C
It will be her.
B
I wonder how. It's already such humorous moments, but I wonder what else she's gonna inject into there.
D
I'll be watching.
C
I will.
D
But I'm still kind of like. I would have loved to see Dolly do a different work.
B
Really?
D
Piece of work.
B
What would you prefer?
D
Well, I think I'm sick. Maybe Pride and Prejudice.
C
Sorry.
B
Well, you've also never seen the one that we're talking about.
A
You still haven't seen that one?
B
No. We're sitting her down tonight and making her watch it.
D
I'm okay. Okay. I'm okay.
A
Why are you. Why do you not want to see that?
D
Just cuz like, it's kind of one of those things where people love it so much that I'm like, I'm.
B
Oh, come on.
D
Like when you guys started watching Outlander, I was like, I can't get into this. Like, I don't know.
A
Ew. Any books we're reading now. New books, of course. What?
B
Well, not new. I'm actually doing a reread of one of the OG what do you call the Immortals After Dark series? It's fantasy.
A
The best series ever written.
B
Yeah, so file it under that. I'm doing a reread of the series that we've talked about before on this Immortals After Dark, one of the OG Kind of spicy, romantic, real spicy, that I read back, I think, early college days. And I'm now revisiting there's like 20 something books, right? Or something under that. And they're still going. And it's been fun to revisit.
D
What a series.
B
I'm on the second one right now.
A
Oh, I thought you were about to have a butt there. And I was like, excuse me. No, there's nothing wrong with this series.
B
I wouldn't dream around you. Alona's the one that found this series and brought it to us. Cause she's a real freak like that. I'm on book two, A Hunger like no other.
A
I just read a recent one, her newest one from that. It's called Shadow's Heart. And it also fits in pretty well with the other storylines.
B
But then you also read the other, most recent one, like the Queen of Halloween.
A
The Queen of Halloween. That one was kind of of tough title. Tough title. Kind of not necessary, but that's okay. Okay, yeah, I'll read whatever she puts out.
D
You guys are kind of sounding like gibberish. Well, you've read the Queen of Halloween.
B
The Witch Queen of Halloween.
A
The Witch Queen of Halloween. Right. I also read a book that you've liked, and you recommended to me, Heartless Hunter, which we talked about before. A really fun witch book. Would highly recommend if you liked One Dark Window. The second one, they kept getting caught, kept making it out. I'm like, okay, not as believable. The first one was great. Highly recommend if you like that sort of world.
D
I agree.
B
Very fun. What have you read, Dre?
D
I've been in a slump, guys, I'm sorry to say.
C
Not you.
D
I still haven't read the second book in One Dark Window. So I did just pick up Two Twisted Crowns. But I do have my loan for the Bridgerton Collection just became free. So I think I'm going to dive into that. I'm going to read Benedict and Sophie's book after Part two comes out.
A
Okay.
D
Because I don't want to mess with how I'm viewing this, you know, because then I'm gonna have expectations sometimes. I like going in blind.
B
I like that. I'm gonna. I obviously just said what I've been reading, but what I'm looking to read next is a pirate romance.
A
I got some.
B
You got some for me?
A
I got some.
C
What do you got?
D
The Pirate King's Daughter. Is that one?
A
Yeah. I've read Pirates. King's Daughter. That's pretty good.
B
Is that a good one? I have. What I've marked down here is the Ever King from the Ever King.
A
I think I've read that one.
B
Can I see the COVID the Ever Seas series.
A
Or it's possible I drawn and I read that.
B
Or Sea of Ruin I've heard is good too.
D
Oh, I've seen that cover every.
B
I know, but then I'm like, is
D
it just like a.
B
Not to diminish book talk by any means, but sometimes the picks on there can be a little like, is it just one of those?
A
You know, you'll have to find out. I gotta find out.
B
But I've been craving, like, a pirate story. Oh, Beneath Black Sails is another one. These are all separate series, by the way, so I'd start with. Here's another one. The Veins of the Drowner. Those are all things I've marked down to read.
A
Well, girl, get into it, you guys.
B
Let me know in the comments, please, if one of those four that I just mentioned is where I should be starting with my pirate romance journeys. Thank you.
A
And soon, hopefully you'll be able to read different blades out everywhere this fall by Adriana Marr.
D
I'm working on that.
A
A love story on Hillary Knight and Brittany inspired by. Inspired by.
D
It's gonna be like Helena and it's a B name.
A
You can probably just use Hillary and Brittany.
D
Well, like, I feel like when it's installed.
A
Oh, you want to change it?
D
Change it.
B
Betty, keep the first.
D
Yeah, Helena and Betty. I'll workshop that.
A
Oh, Helena's for Hillary. I was like, who's that whore?
B
Could that be?
A
Okay, I hear you. Workshop it.
D
Workshop.
