Big one, big let's hear it for ESPY winner Elo Namal.
Adriana Mar
What if this is too, like, too in your face? You know, like, not, like, demure to be like, we won because it's like, obviously, you know, you want to have, like. Grace.
Ilona Mar
Grace. Welcome to House of Mar, A Wave original. We have a few house rules.
Olivia Mar

We like to start every episode with a reminder that, you know, the Internet is a big place. We like to come together and weekly to remind you and us to touch some grass. So this is your weekly reminder to touch grass. This week's Touch Grass is brought to you by Propel. What propels you, ladies?
Ilona Mar
I.
Olivia Mar
This has been on my mind. I think I have a lot of thoughts and things to say, which is why I want to talk about it. But we must discuss La Boo Boos.
Adriana Mar
You fan?
Olivia Mar
I don't think so. But I'm not a hater. I am never a hater to women's enjoyment because it's mostly, it seems to be women. It's enjoying these, you know, collectible toys, I guess. Drake, could you explain to us what a Labubu is?
Adriana Mar
Freaky little monster things. It's the new Beanie Baby.
Olivia Mar
Is it? And that's, like, the vibe.
Adriana Mar
Yeah.
Olivia Mar
They're worth something.
Adriana Mar
I don't know if people think they're worth something, but they're spending a lot of money for them. And the whole thing is that it's like a surprise. You don't know what labubu you're gonna get. You buy a box, it's Labubu. Open it, and you're like, I hope it's the. The freakier one.
Olivia Mar
So that's how the, like, owner became Like a billionaire overnight. You have to buy multiples to see what's going to be in them to get the Labubu that you want.
Adriana Mar
It's amazing marketing.
Olivia Mar
It's amazing. I mean, okay, in simplest terms, to anybody watching or listening that does not know what a labubu is. It's a keychain stuffed character that's collectible in the way, like a Beanie Baby was. Or if you heard of, like. If you knew, like, jelly cats or squishmallows. But I wonder. It's such a moment. It's such a something that's happening right now, now, which is, I think I'm not one to ever, like, jump too heartily into something like that, especially when money is involved. So I don't own a Labubu. I have one friend that I know of that owns Lou Boo Boo. And she only got it because her friend was obsessed and was like, I bought you a box. I buy your own Labubu. We're going to unbox them together. And then my friend and I were at a restaurant and she. It was just on her bag, and she was like, can I admit something to you now?
Adriana Mar
And I was like, please do.
Olivia Mar
She was like, I feel nothing for this little guy. I feel nothing. And I was like, me too, girl.
Adriana Mar
Like, my thing with Labubus, and I saw this online, but it's like, where are they all going to be in 2040? In the ground. In the ground? In a landfill.
Ilona Mar
Oh, right.
Adriana Mar
You're not. You're not keeping all of these. And there's, like, hard plastic involved. And it's just. I'm a hater about them. It's consumerism to the, like, nth degree. And I'm like, I think, yeah, I have one. You know, like, you're being human is, like, enjoying these, like, little things, but I'm, like, getting that many. For what?
Olivia Mar
Yeah, it's like people that collect Stanley cups, like, the big ones, like, I love. I drink. I drink out of mine. That thing do be making me drink water. But the people that. Not just Stanley's, but any reusable water bottle who collect them and the different colors, it's like, that's so not the point. That's not the point of reusable water bottle is owning all of those things. Like, I don't get that. That is definitely, as you say, like, consumerism to the max. Makes me a little nervous. Alona, would you ever get a little Boo Boo?
Ilona Mar
I mean, maybe. I just. Probably not. If I bought it, I wouldn't Buy it for myself. Unless all my friends are doing it and I'm a follower. So I'll probably do it and in.
Olivia Mar
Which case, yeah, she'll get. She'll do it. Another touch grass we have today is that. I mean, I think this happens a lot, but more studies have come out that vaping is even worse than we already previously thought, which was bad before. What?
Adriana Mar
No, no, it. No, it can't be.
Olivia Mar
I didn't see that. I saw that coming.
Adriana Mar
No, I didn't see that from a mile away. That's crazy. Vaping's that bad for you.
Olivia Mar
What do these new studies kind of reveal?
Adriana Mar
Well, I read the Times article on it and it's just like split up into a bunch of different section of all the different evidence. And it's just like oral health, high blood pressure, this and that. Like, there's just everything's affected. It's really not good. Would they say it. It was like stiffening your heart arteries and causing walking high blood pressure and this and that.
Olivia Mar
And there's. I saw those things about how much worse it was. Like, it's almost better for you to smoke a cigarette. Like, it's like, comparatively, I think that's better for you, like, than the chemicals that come with sucking on a USB plug in.
Ilona Mar
Like, I don't believe that. I don't believe that there's. That's right. About cigarette versus vape. Because also these stupid studies that come out saying this stuff. It's like you haven't had a long enough control group to see what's happening. Right. So, I mean, I think smoking is just as bad. I can't imagine. I mean, vaping's terrible for you. But I. I mean, I haven't read the study, of course, but I mean, they'd be interested in. Oh, they. They all just sound terrible. That's actually another pet peeve. You know what? Not vaping. Here's my touch grass moment. Why are we all saying study shows? This study shows that. Did you actually have a study on that? I like, I just liked one. Study shows if you have your study shows your dog will love you if this happens. It's like, did the dog tell you that? How is the study showing that? Did you have a control group of dogs that weren't with that? And then you have one that wasn't. Who was the. Like, that is probably something that really pisses me off. I just even liked a picture of one too. Hold on, let me see how I can find it. And it really grinded my gears because I Love fun fact about me. I love studies. I love peer reviewed articles. I can find you. When I was in college, I could find you an article to support anything I ever said. I was that good at it. Study shows if you eat cheese, you're gonna live longer. Okay, you think? How did we figure that out?
Olivia Mar
Oh, there was that study back in the day that was like, oh, a glass of red wine, like a one, like one drink a day is actually quite good for you.
Adriana Mar
Yeah.
Olivia Mar
And then it turned out that it was like, okay, because they, the who they were sampling and who they were, you know, following were richer, you know, higher class people who had access to proper health care and like, care their entire lives. So yeah, they naturally sort of lived longer lives. It had nothing to do with the glass of red wine that they were having daily.
Ilona Mar
Okay, I can't find it, but I freaking, I, I. Every time that comes across my page and it'll be the dumbest stuff, I get extremely angry. And here's a psa. You guys got to stop, stop reposting. Sharing the stuff that says study shows this. Unless I want you to go find where that article is, find out who, who, who supported that. Who's the peer reviewer on that?
Olivia Mar
Right?
Ilona Mar
And then tell me that that's real. Don't believe what you read online, guys. Seriously, it's pissing me off. You guys got to be smarter.
Olivia Mar
I've seen these incredible articles. Like, studies show that the oldest siblings are often the smartest. And that happens. That's been researched. That's been also funny. And there you go. Funniest and most gorgeous.
Ilona Mar
A great one.
Olivia Mar
A great thing backed by science that.
Ilona Mar
Has been put out there. How did they find that out? You've. So you're telling me you, you interviewed and you did a test on 5,000 oldest siblings to figure that out. How do you find that? Gosh, I'm passionate about this stuff because people are really just getting misled and just believe anything they you can. I'm gonna actually just start writing that. Study shows if you follow Alona Mar, you'll live to be 100 years old.
Adriana Mar
I can, I can work on that. Get me into canva right now.
Olivia Mar
This feels like I saw this TikTok that was like when you successfully rage bait your sister, you're just like so excited. The sister's like choking her out and she's just like, ah, I did it. I got her on that vein though. I feel like, have you guys heard of zins, another form of nicotine? It's a nicotine Patch, you put it within your lips. So it's like packing a lip, but it's like this compact thing. Nicotine. You hoe right here. Have you heard of these?
Adriana Mar
When I was in Sweden, the zins were. It wasn't a Zen, but they had that ahead of time.
Olivia Mar
Like the.
Adriana Mar
The chew, but like in a pouch. And I just remember under every table and everything, instead of gum, it was these used Zen packets and they stuck to walls and stuff, like, so Sweden's been on that wave.
Olivia Mar
The first time I ever saw a Zen on Tik Tok was hot blonde Swedish girls showing their zins in their lips and me being, like, going on right now. That makes sense.
Adriana Mar
It's so sad. And I just. Why do we. They are finding every single way to get nicotine into your bodies. People have them in their weddings and you can see them in their wedding photos. Like the groom.
Olivia Mar
No, I mean, to me, neither is a great option. I went to school in the middle of nowhere where packing a lip was quite popular. Nat. Shit's disgusting. That shit is so gross. The spitting and the, like, massive wad of it or whatever. Ew. I just want to say zins are a pouch. They're not a patch. I said patch earlier. It's a pouch that you put in. So, like, the nicotine is direct on your skin, which also leads to cancers and other very scary things. But I just saw a girl on TikTok talk about how if you've just broken up with a guy and you find yourself, like, missing him so much, you feel like. Like, oh, my God, you can't believe it. It's like, okay, but, babe, if he ever packed sins, like, and you. You would. You've ever done. You would kiss him. You're actually literally having withdrawals, like, from him and from the nicotine in his mouth or whatever. And I thought that was so.
Ilona Mar
Interesting study. Yep.
Olivia Mar
Luna.
Adriana Mar
What if you lived back in the day, you know, like. And you were, say, the, like the town healer having to make brews and stuff. You wouldn't have control groups. You would just be that work for that one person.
Ilona Mar
Yeah, Your control groups. Who died and who doesn't. Back in the day, it wasn't a big if. You know, you're chilling. Okay. That plant. That plant didn't work on Susie. Let me try this bark on Adam.
Olivia Mar
You're just killing people left and right. So whether they die or not, they were.
Ilona Mar
But they were trial and erroring constantly. Literally constantly.
Olivia Mar
Right.
Ilona Mar
Nowadays we just say stuff. We just say things that we don't know and aren't real and then people believe it.
Adriana Mar
The vaping study did say that obviously vaping has not been around for that long. So obviously you don't know the full range.
Ilona Mar
I think the vaping is probably a lot of it is real. I think it's going to be even interesting later on we find out even more about vaping when, you know, because it is. It's not like it's a newer thing, but like, definitely more people and younger kids are in it. But I think it'll be interesting even later on when we find out all the things that are happening with vaping. I mean, it's like it's just the tip of the iceberg now. Who knows what problems these people are going to have later.
Olivia Mar
And I think studies like this are trying to just warn of that, you know, put as much information as they can out there as soon as possible in any form of like, preventative help yourself, like, measure.
Adriana Mar
How long have cigarettes been around for? Millions of years now.
Olivia Mar
I feel like we're cigarettes numbers.
Ilona Mar
Oh, well, if we look at. You mean cigarettes. 20, 25 people have been smoking for thousands of years.
Adriana Mar
Yes. They've always been lighting up something.
Ilona Mar
Yeah.
Olivia Mar
Opium.
Ilona Mar
So we're just going to go just specifically cigarettes. Because people have been smoking tobacco for probably, I would say a thousand years. I'm not right about that, but probably a long time. So cigarettes have been in it, but also people died really before you could see the consequences of their actions.
Olivia Mar
This episode comes out and it's going to be an article. Studies by Ilona Marshall. Cigarettes have been smoked for millions of years.
Adriana Mar
Olivia. It's quite serious, isn't it?
Olivia Mar
It's quite serious, isn't it? She's not messing with these studies, dude, number one up. No, no, literally, dude. Dogs who eat cheese live. The longest studies show alone is number one off.
Ilona Mar
Did the dog out? Did the dog put that study out? That sounds very much something like a dog would say.
Adriana Mar
Dog with a blog, dog with a study.
Olivia Mar
And it's funny because you're probably always seeing those dog ones because people be loving their dogs and anything that makes them, like, they'll just be like, resharing. Anything that has to do with that.
Adriana Mar
I knew my dogs loved me and now science can prove it.
Olivia Mar
No, dog doesn't like you and science hates you.
Ilona Mar
Wrong.
Olivia Mar
Sorry.

Adriana Mar
I love to see it, Olivia. And I know that Propel has a range of exciting flavors to choose from. What is everyone's favorite?
Ilona Mar
I'm kind of messing with the black.
Olivia Mar
Cherry grape all day, baby. They are my favorite. Post Pilates or hot girl walk refresher.
Ilona Mar
Nice.
Adriana Mar
And with Gatorade, electrolytes, zero sugar and vitamins, Propel hydrates better than water. It's exactly what I need after my long walks in the city.
Ilona Mar
Cuz it's been hot and you be sweating and I need my girls to stay hydrated. Okay.
Olivia Mar
Replenished. I love all the flavors. Propel just tastes so great.
Adriana Mar
Quick question for each of you. What propels you?
Ilona Mar
Honestly, just talking to you guys, knowing I can be like just my true.
Olivia Mar
Like real self, kind of same thing. I mean we are family after all. But for me, it's showing up for my family and friends that propels me and for me.
Adriana Mar
So my books, my romance books.
Ilona Mar

Olivia Mar
Let's roll. Let's roll with some tea time. We've had a lot going on. Big one, number one. Let's hear it for ESPY winner, Elonamar. Yeah. And the SP goes to.
Ilona Mar
Elona Mar. Yeah. How are you feeling? I feel good. Honestly. It was so cool. I kind of was hoping to win. Not like I knew that I'd win, but I was really, really, really praying for it. Really not praying for it. I was thinking I would win, you know, but it was really good. So I just jotted my speech down. I first wrote in my journal, then I wrote it on my phone. I sent it to Olivia and ran to check over. And then Olivia beautifully wrote it out for me on a piece of paper while I was getting ready. And then I didn't realize like other people would read their. Their speeches off of the teleprompter.
Olivia Mar
I didn't know you could do that.
Ilona Mar
But I think it was best because I Do better off the cuff and just like fresh, free flowing. So I'm happy that I didn't know that there was an option to read off teleprompter. I think it would have like, kind of stifled me in my creative freedom.
Olivia Mar
You were so good at it too. You barely look. You just like referenced it. But then you even. You had memorized most of it. I was very impressed, darling.
Ilona Mar
Well, I mean, it's the same stuff I always talk about, right? Like it's not nothing new. I think the big thing that I'm happy I got in there was about the World cup to really point on that psa. There's a women's rugby World cup this year. Probably a lot of you didn't know. The biggest event in women's rugby starting in about a month. Watch it, tune in. You're not going to understand it the first time you watch it. And then you know my message about muscle strong is beautiful. Strong's powerful. It's sexy. It's whatever you want it to be. And I hope more girls can feel how I feel. And that's kind of the reason why I chose that dress. So I styled by Margo Zammit and Adidas and I wasn't sure about that dress and we, we tried on some other stuff, but I, I actually tried on the day of that morning before getting ready and I think we liked it because it was like, it showed off the muscles, it showed off my body. Was it the most classiest dress? No, probably not, no. Well, but I think it was just for me, it's a sports award. My muscles are the accessory they brought me. They really are the reason I'm at that award. So I love that I got to show it in such a. In such a way. And also it was a talking piece. People, people love to talk about it. I got a People article written about it. I've had many people say it wasn't flattering. And honestly. Thank you. Keep commenting, keep saying that stuff. You're helping me. And I was on Vogue beauty page, so it's like I didn't see that.
Olivia Mar
Yeah, best looks like. Best beauty looks and everything. I mean, that dress. So Alona is, as we all know, she's been at rugby camp in the middle of nowhere, east coast, where it's hot as hell. She's training daily. They are, they are rocking and rolling towards the Rugby World Cup. So there's no time for her to just like pop, to do a fitting, to try on things, to be like, make everything perfect. So Margo like, luckily knows your body, you know, so she. You've worked with her before for Sports Illustrated and everything. So there was, like, a call to talk about kind of what you wanted. Margo did come down to try on some options, and then ultimately everything had to make its way to Los Angeles to me for you to be dressed and ready for the ESPYs here. So that was. Dress was one of the options that when we put it on, we were like, ooh, you know, there was other options that were lovely and nice and classy, but it just kind of was like, to me, seeing the other dresses, what I said was, that dress says, oh, Alona, Ilona Mar was there. Whereas that dress that you wore to me felt like, Alona Mar is here.
Ilona Mar
Yeah, like it.
Olivia Mar
And as Adriana, you said it, it had star power. There was just something to it. It covered every. All the ass essentials were covered. I think. I think it had more fabric than some of the other options, frankly. But because of just the style of it, yeah, it seems a bit, like, risque, but I loved it.
Ilona Mar
I. I love it too. I thought it was out there. I love that my shoulders were on display. My whole back was on display. We did have to check for some nip slips, but we made it through. There was one point where I almost. So also, after I present my award, I'm about to go back to my seat, and they text my agent, are like, hey, don't let alone to sit down. We might need to present an award. And they asked me if I wanted to. I was like, what am I doing? Of course. And so turns out I present this, the Icon award, to Alex Morgan and Diana Taurasi, which is absolutely crazy because it's like, what do you mean?
Olivia Mar
Me?
Ilona Mar
I'm presenting it. Those two are icons. Like, it feels like it should be another icon presenting it. So it was just wild that I was chosen to do this to two women who are just have changed the game for years and years and years. But it was so cool to present to them and to give them the trophies because I'm like, what. What is happening right now for these people to know who I am? And then. But as I was going to present, I accidentally, like, hit somebody, and my dress almost moved, and I caught eyes with Sierra and Lindsey Vaughn, and I was like. And they were like, but it was all. It was all good. We did it. We, you know, made it through. And it was so cool. It's such a cool time to be in that room of those people and to meet all them and to feel like almost an equal in a way.
Olivia Mar
I mean, you are. And to me, you are an icon. You've. You've been forging an iconic path for a while now. So you had every right to be presenting that award to those people. That was crazy for me because when you won your award, you obviously go backstage and you do that. And I was in the seat, like, and then I was just kind of, like, there along alone. But they bring in seat fillers to come in, like, fill, you know, seats, like nicely dressed people, which was actually fun all night because I had, like, two different seat fillers throughout the night. Like, turn to me and be like.
Adriana Mar
I just want to say I. I listen.
Olivia Mar
I love your podcast. I listen to it every week. You and your sisters. I just love it so much. And I was like, oh, thank you so much. So that was really great. But when you were finally back and you were walking by, I thought you were coming back to the seat. So I was trying to record, like, a fun video of you, and you were like, come here. Get over here. And I was like, oh. So I had to, like, hurdle over the seat filler, follow you upstage.
Ilona Mar
And I was like, what the hell's.
Olivia Mar
Going on right now? And you're like, I might present an award. I was like, oh, when? And they brought you right to a teleprompter to show you the script. They tell you how it's all going to happen. Like, it's live tv. They're like, you're going to walk this way, and then you're going to do this. I think you did a great job.
Ilona Mar
Thank you. I should have paused for a fact, but it's okay. It's going to haunt me. It's going to haunt me the rest of my day.
Adriana Mar
No, I liked it because sometimes these award shows can drag on, but it was like, no, she is getting through this. Because it was like a longer speech, too, that you had to give. So it was like, we all heard the clapping, but you were like, we still got videos to see. They got to give their speech. It wasn't. It wasn't a bad thing that you didn't pause.
Olivia Mar
And nobody realized that you were not meant to be doing that because you did it so well. They just. They. I mean, like, the. I think the SPS chose well. What an honor. They saw. They saw you speak without a teleprompter so eloquently. They're like, she can do it. What an honor. But I think that, yeah, people couldn't even tell they Just thought that was supposed to be happening, so. Well done.
Ilona Mar
Hey, John was ready with that. Espy's at it, huh? Too.
Adriana Mar
Thank you so much.
Olivia Mar
Give the background, though. You made an edit before that, please.
Adriana Mar
Yeah. And I think I manifested Alona's win once I saw Anthony Ramos up on that stage.
Olivia Mar
Yeah.
Adriana Mar
For context, it was a Hamilton edit. So I first edited as like, a promoting people or I first edited a video promoting voting.
Olivia Mar
Jefferson.
Adriana Mar
Jefferson has my vote. That one. Whatever the one that one's called. And then after alone of one, I was feeling inspired. I was like. And I was actually. I was just in a soul cycle class where my. My teacher did Yorktown by Hamilton. And I was like, there's a section in that. Or it just says, we won, we won, we won. And I was like, let's keep with the Hamilton train. So I found the sketchiest website to download YouTube videos into video files onto my laptop. Really quickly grab those video files, went into Inshot, and just quickly put it all together in, like, the a minute and a half footage. It was nice.
Olivia Mar
You slay.
Adriana Mar
It was like 10:30. And I was like, hold up.
Ilona Mar
I got an idea.
Olivia Mar
When inspiration strikes, you gotta.
Adriana Mar
And then I sent it off to low. And afterwards, I was like, what if this is too, like, too in your face? You know, like, not, like, demure to be like, we won't. Because it's like, obviously, you know, you want to have, like, Grace.
Ilona Mar
Fuck grace.
Adriana Mar
Fuck grace. Would a man think that.
Ilona Mar
Sorry.
Olivia Mar
Sorry.
Ilona Mar
That I won an ESPYs.
Olivia Mar
Sorry.
Ilona Mar
It's taken me seven years and two Olympics. Like I said, I'm excited. I don't. I'm sorry. I guess everyone who acts chill about it, they were expecting to win an award.
Olivia Mar
Not me.
Ilona Mar
I'm. I'm jazzed. I'm absolutely jazzed. I'm the first person in rugby who's ever won an sv, male or female, for any category. I don't need to be graceful. That's crazy. That's awesome. And I'm super excited and so honored to have gotten that. I'm very proud. And I don't need to be graceful. I am.
Adriana Mar
But you were graceful.
Ilona Mar
I was grateful. But I just think that, like, it's. I think people just loved it and loved my reactions and loved it because, like, they're so used to people being so. And thank you so much. And we did this. But, I mean, how cool that I won that and that I got that award. I was like, you even see us, like, when I win, I fist bump because it's Just. I'm not expecting that. It's just so fun, and I. I feel like we're so taught to be so measured and so quiet, but, you know, be proud of yourself. Like, you know, pump yourself up. That's. You did that. I did that. I got myself up there, and this idea that we have to be, like, more demure and quiet, like, people just seem to love when I'm myself, and if people can understand the power it is to just be who you are, people really, like, everybody was complimenting on my speech to Please. They loved how, you know, how just true and honest and authentic it was, and it wasn't perfect, and it wasn't, you know, filtered. They just loved that. I. Yeah, Grace, go with it. Humbleness. Be humble, but also understand you're worthy and deserving.
Adriana Mar
Let's write that all down. That was some fire you just dropped.
Ilona Mar
Second. Second.
Olivia Mar
Espy's acceptance speech there. Love it. Celebrate yourself, because at the end of the day, who else is gonna do it? Good for you, Olivia.
Ilona Mar
Right, Adriana, you also have recorded yourself. Me winning, right?
Adriana Mar
Yeah, because I was like. I had high hopes, and I was like, my edit did really well, and I was like. That got a lot of people straight to the link.
Olivia Mar
Right? Right.
Adriana Mar
So I was like. I was with my friend, and my hair was so greasy, but I was like, hey, do you mind if I just, like, throw up my phone on my. Like, on my laptop and just in case, just. Yeah, absolutely. And I'm so glad I captured that because it was so fun, and it was just. I think it's. I don't know if I normally would have recorded something like that, but I had, like, Olivia in the back of my head to be like, just, like, capture it. Why not? The more the merrier, and I'm glad I did.
Ilona Mar
My teammates were also very excited. A couple of them recorded themselves of me winning, and then when I got back that next day, they were also excited. Everyone, you know, hugged me, and we were so happy, and it was mentioned a lot. So I have a team. Okay. You know what I said? Fuck Grace. But also, like, understand that it's not just me that got me there. Like, I'm very proud of myself for doing it, but I did it because I have a great team, because I have amazing teammates and sisters. So I see them. Great followers, and they're so excited for me to be up there. So, you know, women, sporting women, they were there for me, and they. They were just so, so happy I did this.
Adriana Mar
That was the first thing you mentioned. In your speech, babes, you mentioned that you are not a single sport athlete. You are a team player, and that it's your team that brought you there. Like, that was all of your, like, your sections of that speech alone. It was so good. It's the entire time, like, you, like, hit it. And I just think starting off with, like, your girls and then to be able to go see them the next morning and be with them, that was cool.
Ilona Mar
You know what I was thinking of if I. If I was, I wouldn't have done this, but also would have been good, was I should have been like. And next time, ESPYs, you can just let me host. I am free to host next year. I have nothing on my schedule at that time. I'll clear my schedule. I will be funny. I will be charming. I will bring everybody up. The only people I will possibly make fun of are a few men, and that's it. But other than that, other than that, you've seen what I can do. They're going to be laughing, they might cry. Vibes will be up. People will be in love with me. Just give me a call, okay?
Olivia Mar
Give her a ring. She's waiting for you. Well, before we move on, though, I did. I did have something to present to Adriana, which is the best Breakthrough Editor award. So this is for you guys. Edit a trophy into my hands. Thank you.
Adriana Mar
Oh, my God. No, thank you so much.
Olivia Mar
Give us your acceptance speech a la Ilona.
Adriana Mar
Well, first off, I want to say that it is not just me behind the phone. I have both of my sisters with me, and I. I want to thank all the inspirations around me. I would like to thank Lin Manuel Miranda for your creative genius. And I will continue to use this.
Olivia Mar
All Comes Back to Lynn soundtrack.
Adriana Mar
It all comes back to Lin. I saw his costume in the Smithsonian yesterday, took a photo. And I would like to thank my vine editing days.
Olivia Mar
Right, right.
Adriana Mar
And I think it all comes back to. Through that as well.
Olivia Mar
Right.
Adriana Mar
And, Alona, thanks for being my inspiration.
Ilona Mar
Of course.
Adriana Mar
My muse.
Ilona Mar
Of course. Olivia, just quickly, before we move on, I need to know about officiating. I need to know how it was. I saw that video where you show up as if you're like a pastor or something. Hilarious stuff.
Adriana Mar
What's that thing called?
Ilona Mar
What is. I don't know. How was it? Scholar. The priest caller.
Olivia Mar
Okay.
Ilona Mar
How was it? Were you nervous? Were you excited? Did you kill it? I haven't seen a video yet.
Olivia Mar
Thank you so much for asking. I officiated my first ever wedding this past weekend. Huzzah, love. Yay. Which was exciting and nerve wracking. It's kind of been weighing on me for, like, months now because I, like, I ultimately was like, what is my issue? Like, what is my mental block? Like, why am I struggling essentially with this? It's like, oh, because you want to do a good job naturally, right? So, like, you're trying to wait until you have all the tools to do that, but it's like, no, you just got to freaking do it. Put pen to paper, start writing. So the creative process was a tough, slow start for me, but I ultimately enjoyed it. You know, I'm very happy with what I came up with. Somebody early on the process was like, oh, just use AI. And I was horrified. I was like, have you listened to nothing I've ever said? Have you listened to nothing? Why would I ever disrespect this couple that way? You know?
Ilona Mar
You think AI knows my best friend? Like, I do.
Olivia Mar
Like, what, dude?
Ilona Mar
No.
Olivia Mar
God. So I. But then. So as I essentially just be. Kind of became. This sounds weird, but my own AI, I did all kinds of research. I. Yeah, I was watching all the videos. I was reading all the scripts. I've been to one and a half weddings, truly. So, like, of all people to choose to do a wedding, I'm like, oh, the. That's never really been to a wedding. Okay, cool. The amount of random people's wedding ceremonies I watched on YouTube over the past year, you know, I basically just pulled all the most beautiful bits I could find that I really resonated with. That resonated with me for the couple getting married. And I made a flow from there. I asked other people that have officiated. I got lots of great advice. So I went into, like, this was my game day for real. I. I went up there and I performed and I served. And I think it went. I think I know it went well. People complimented me. They. They said, like, that they've been to a lot of weddings and that was one of the best they've heard and they really enjoyed it. So that was a big weight off of my chest. But the whole priest caller thing is I did have a little bit of a running gag, a little prank where I showed up the morning of for hair and makeup because I was also a bridesmaid with one of the, like, priest collars on with the white bit here. And everyone just thought it was so funny. They. And I said, showing up to officiate my best friend's wedding. And actually Rachel Samples just commented on the video and she said, as you two are committed to each. You two are as committed to each other as I am to the bit. And I love that. I think that's why.
Ilona Mar
Oh, that is good.
Olivia Mar
I was committed to the bit, so thank you, Rachel. Would you. Would either of you two ever want to un. Officiate a friend's wedding?
Ilona Mar
I would, but that does sound like a lot of pressure, and I think I just rather look. I'd rather look pretty, I think, and.
Olivia Mar
Just hot and just stand there. Right, right.
Adriana Mar
You know, Dre, I don't want to officiate either of your weddings.
Olivia Mar
Right.
Ilona Mar
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Adriana Mar
No, make me stand next to you on the other side, though. But I would do it for a friend, however, what if. Olivia, you did such a good job that now you're always gonna get asked to do it.
Ilona Mar
Ooh.
Olivia Mar
Maybe that becomes your thing the more you do it. I mean, my rate's gonna be insane. Nobody can even affirm it.
Ilona Mar
Right.
Olivia Mar
So after the compliments I got. I don't know. I was nervous, though. Like, all. Obviously the weeks. The weeks and months leading up to it, I have been shaken in my boots. And then day of, I was just oddly calm. I was like, let's do it. Like, it's game time, baby. I was just, you know, rereading my thing. So I just kind of had the night right. Pacing and kind of slowness and timing and whatnot. But it wasn't until I walked down that aisle and I was stood up there alone, and I started reading, because before the rest of the processional came, it was just me. It's like. Like when you read in church for the first time, or like, when you read at the front of the class for the first time, all of a sudden, I was like, oh, something stuck here. And I'm like. And then, luckily, I got the first bits there. Luckily, as the processional was happening, I was able to step away from the microphone and be like. Like, get it out. It's good. Let's go. It's game time.
Ilona Mar
Yeah.
Olivia Mar
And so that was good. I think my favorite line, I had a couple of favorite lines in it, but when I pronounced them husband and wife, I saw this beautiful thing where, you know, it's by the power vested in me, yada, yada, yada. I said, by the power of your love. Oh, no. I said, by the strength of your love and the power vested in me. I loved that because it's like, it's your guys's love that is done right? That is doing this today.
Ilona Mar
I just got this. On the Internet. This. This license.
Adriana Mar
This.
Ilona Mar
Your.
Adriana Mar
Your love is a real thing.
Olivia Mar
I met somebody else who apparently got ordained under the same, like, church that I did, and they're like, in about a year, you're gonna start getting emails asking how your ministry is, like, okay, noted. So if you guys want to join my ministry, I'll be your minister. Just let me know.
Adriana Mar
We are.
Ilona Mar
Olivia is open for business. If you are getting married and you would like a hot, sexy minister to preside over you, she's ready.
Olivia Mar
Matter of fact, by your heads.
Ilona Mar
Matter of fact, by hands.
Olivia Mar
All right, team. Today's fun little segment we are calling the House of Award Shows. So welcome. Come on in. Let's discuss some of our favorite moments in award show history. No award show will be left out. We'll talk about anything.
Adriana Mar
Anything that we want to talk about.
Olivia Mar
Anything we want to talk about specifically that we really like. I think so much of culture is built from the moments that happen at award shows. Like, some of the things in pop culture that stick out the most, like, prominently, I think have come from award shows. Among other things. JLo's deep V dress at the. You know, did you know that that dress actually was, like, the catalyst for Google Images?
Adriana Mar
Google images.
Olivia Mar
Yeah. Because when she wore that dress. Sorry, Dre. Was that a stupid thing to say?
Adriana Mar
It's just everything. Everybody knows it.
Olivia Mar
Oh, do they?
Ilona Mar
Yeah.
Adriana Mar
And that's why she references it a bunch.
Olivia Mar
Oh, I didn't know that. That's all right, guys. I thought that was funny.
Ilona Mar
Way to take her thunder, Adriana. She thought she was on something with that.
Olivia Mar
I thought that was fun and exciting news. I bet I'm not the only person. Hello.
Adriana Mar
I'm sorry.
Olivia Mar
I didn't know that. A lot.
Adriana Mar
Keep going.
Ilona Mar
Well, I have a niche one Pay us. I can re. Watch over and over again whenever Tina. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler host an award show.
Adriana Mar
Meryl Streep is not here tonight. She has the flu, and I hear.
Ilona Mar
She'S amazing in it. I've watched their sketches multiple times on YouTube. Genuinely. My sisters will know. I love it. I think they are so fun, funny. They host with such, like, you know, they. They make fun of, but not, like, over the edge or anything. It's, like, funny stuff that you. You'd make fun of a friend with. I think they just. Just killed it. I love also sometimes, like, Will Ferrell when he presents with, like, Kristen Wiig. Great stuff. I just. I think that they do a great job. And again, espy, that is what you would get with Me.
Olivia Mar
This is just an ESPYS hosting campaign episode. Now, Will Ferrell and Kristen wig, I quote all the time, and nobody gets it. You get out of here.
Adriana Mar
She says, you get out of here.
Olivia Mar
Do you know that? You know, I'm talking about. I do that all the time, and nobody understands it. I just feel like an idiot. But they are class acts, and Tina and Amy did, like, two years in a row, right?
Adriana Mar
They did, yeah.
Ilona Mar
Yes.
Adriana Mar
Speaking of Amy and Tina, my favorite bit of theirs is when they were both nominated for best outstanding Actress in a comedy series or something, and one by one, they all came up on stage and all the other actresses who were nominated as well. Like, it was pageant. I think it was like, the nurse from Nurse Jackie maybe.
Olivia Mar
Yeah.
Adriana Mar
Like, that is just. It just pokes. Such good fun.
Ilona Mar
Yeah. Amy Poehler was the one who started off. She ran up there, and then everyone's like, what's happening? And then everyone else went up there. I thought it was so great. That was really cool. And then Melissa McCarthy goes. Melissa McCarthy goes. After she won, she's like, this is.
Olivia Mar
My best and first pageant ever, and that's girlhood, and that's on support. And all the women up there were so excited for her when she won, too. Yeah. Like, you know, at pageants, they're happy for you, but they're actually like, but you're trying to win, too. Whereas all the women there were so excited for Melissa McCarthy as she accepted that award, and her level of surprise made it what it was. Lona, you've actually not. The ESPYS was not the first time you've presented at an award show. You presented at the Emmys this year. This past year.
Ilona Mar
Barely.
Olivia Mar
Yeah.
Ilona Mar
I just kind of walked out pretty.
Adriana Mar
I guess. You did a great job.
Ilona Mar
Thank you. Yeah, I know. I killed that, but I. I'm ready to speak and to read off of a teleprompter, so it was easy for me to walk out. Look pretty. I want to do more.
Olivia Mar
Okay. ESPYs, please. Please listen. Lock in here. ESPYs, please. SPS, if you can hear us.
Adriana Mar
SP, if you can hear us right now. Actually, studies show ESPYs that award shows increase viewership by 110%.
Ilona Mar
That actually is real. You know what? Take back what I said about studies. That is real.
Olivia Mar
You can't take that back when that's convenient.
Adriana Mar
Too low.
Olivia Mar
It just doesn't work that way. Dre, do you have a favorite award show moment? Like, I had one for you, but, man, I don't know if it is actually Your favorite fifth harmony performing at, I want to say the Grammys, after Camilla left and they, they showed up backlit with five of them. Right. And all of a sudden, the person in the middle got pulled back.
Adriana Mar
I have a lot to say here.
Olivia Mar
First of all, do you.
Adriana Mar
It is Camila Camille.
Ilona Mar
Yeah.
Adriana Mar
And I believe it was the mtv was it awards. I, I.
Olivia Mar
That feels mtv, that doesn't feel Grammys.
Adriana Mar
But everyone was like, that was so rude of them, like, yada, yada. But I was like, well, if we want to get poetic, they didn't push the fifth body off the stage. That fifth body flung themselves. Camila left the band. They didn't force her out. So she. It was. And at that time, I remember I was so deep into it that, like, and Camila was, like, making these, like, remarks here and there, and it was like, it felt like I was like, yeah, it's your guys's turn to say something or do something about it and not just, like, letting it be. So I kind of ate it up deep. But I. Fifth Harmony at award shows, that was also always so special because you're like, you just look at how they're dressed and stuff, and you're like, okay, are you dressed individually? Are you dressed as a group? Yeah, always. The stylist always has a favorite. But again, I was eating that up. I was like, justice for Dinah. Like, you guys aren't appreciating that outfit enough.
Ilona Mar
Yeah.
Adriana Mar
I had a Twitter account so I could vote for them.
Ilona Mar
What about it?
Olivia Mar
Did you like a hidden Twitter account?
Adriana Mar
Yeah, because I was not. I'm not too. Hashtag 5thHarmonymTVorts on my personal right. I was an embarrassed 15 year old. I made a separate account.
Olivia Mar
Our strongest soldier, Fifth Harmony. Strongest soldier for real, right here.
Adriana Mar
Most of my friends love to watch award shows, and I often get dragged into it. And award shows are just so long and unnecessary sometimes that I just appreciate seeing the clips afterwards. That's my cup of tea.
Olivia Mar
Highlight reels, for real.
Adriana Mar
Highlight reels are the best part of award shows. And that's house of award shows. Thank you for listening.
Ilona Mar
I swear I blinked. And summer is pretty much halfway over. And yet there's still enough time for a little summer bedroom makeover from Wayfair.
Adriana Mar
There's something about the light in the air rolling into my room this time of year that makes me want to give it a refresh. So now I'm getting all cozy in my new light green duvet set. Not to brag, but it's perfect.
Ilona Mar
Thing about our mom is she doesn't like just like basic bland stuff. Like, she's not a beige mom. So she would go to the Netherlands and she'd bring us back these, like, brightly covered duvet covers. So when I was looking on Wayfair, I wanted to find, like the brightest, most colorful thing. And they had amazing options. And I felt like I was getting my little gift from my mama again.
Olivia Mar
I did just order the Eburn Designs Tara accent lamp from Wayfair.
Ilona Mar
Plus, Wayfair is fast and easy delivery, so it's going to be coming right away.
Olivia Mar
Wayfair has such a huge selection of everything you would need to give any room in the house a perfect end of summer refresh. Whether it's home decor or bedding or kitchen essentials, Wayfair has it all.
Adriana Mar
It's so convenient knowing I can find everything I would ever need on one site. And you best believe I am constantly adding to my cart.
Ilona Mar
Get organized, refresh, and back to routine. For way less. Head to Wayfair.com right now to shop all things home. That's W A Y F A I R.com Wayfair Every style, every home. Let's head on over to the book Nook. Did any of you guys read the Love Hypothesis?
Adriana Mar
I did.
Ilona Mar
I did.
Olivia Mar
I didn't. But it's. I should now that after this big announcement, I should.
Ilona Mar
So I just saw that they're gonna be making a movie. Well, I saw a TikTok of them. Like, you know, my name is Vincent and it's Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman who are gonna play the characters here in the Love Hypothesis. I've read a lot of her books and she's the one who also writes Bride, which you all know. I love that one. He.
Olivia Mar
And she's recently reread.
Adriana Mar
She's.
Ilona Mar
I recently read Adriana. Is Love Hypothesis the one where he's the teacher? Is this the fake dating one?
Adriana Mar
This is the fake dating. This is the Kylo Ren fan fiction turned traditionally published book.
Ilona Mar
Huh? Oh, really?
Olivia Mar
It's Star wars fan fiction.
Adriana Mar
Yeah. If you look at the COVID that's Adam Driver and that's Daisy Ridley. I also a huge part of this. Tom Bateman is Daisy's husband.
Olivia Mar
When I saw the announcement video of them doing the handshaking trend, she. Or just her like highlighting something in the Love Hypothesis book. And then she like looks to the camera. So both videos that revealed their casting as these characters. She is looking so demure and just like. And I was like, what's going on right now? I was like, oh, that must be what her character's like. Is that what she's doing? Is she leaning into already? Is she method acting already for these tiktoks? Yeah.
Adriana Mar
I don't.
Ilona Mar
I'd have to read again, but her character is kind of like, what? Ageno. Why did they fake date again?
Adriana Mar
Oh, don't.
Ilona Mar
Don't give it away. But look into my eyes and tell me that way. Hold on, guys.
Adriana Mar
Right, right. She got it.
Ilona Mar
Okay. Yep, I remember now.
Olivia Mar
Me, too.
Adriana Mar
We didn't spoil that. Yeah, but, like, so in the book, she's a. A PhD student, I believe. And he's like a full.
Ilona Mar
He's a professor.
Adriana Mar
He's a professor.
Olivia Mar
But there.
Ilona Mar
But she's a graduate student. He's a professor. They're not in the same. Like, he's not heard professor, though.
Adriana Mar
Let's make that.
Olivia Mar
He's not in a position of power.
Ilona Mar
No, not position.
Olivia Mar
Power over her. He's. No. HR department needs to be involved.
Adriana Mar
Well, actually, probably should be involved. Oh, same university.
Ilona Mar
God, you're boring, Adriana.
Olivia Mar
Sorry.
Ilona Mar
That's hot.
Adriana Mar
I'm saying it could still probably happen, but you gotta let hr. Like, you gotta make them aware.
Ilona Mar
Do you let somebody know and then they're different. Oh, what is it? Interesting age. Olivia read it. It's fun. But have you read her other books?
Olivia Mar
Yeah, I've read Bride, of course.
Ilona Mar
No, not Bride, but like, her other ones. She loves the sciency books.
Adriana Mar
She loves it. She's a niche.
Ilona Mar
I've done to listen to that one.
Olivia Mar
I finished it. I finished not in Love. You did the Listening was fine. And then I tried Deep End, which I think was her first, like, sport venture. Sport book venture. And that. That was. We already talked about it wasn't. It wasn't for me. Which is funny because, like, Loved Bride, not in Love was fun. I think I'll do Love Hypothesis next. I think it's on my bookshelf. I keep looking over there. I think I bought it. But I'm finishing Atmosphere right now by Taylor Jenkins Reid. And it's so good. Oh, okay. It's so good. So once I'm done with that, I will get into Love Hypothesis.
Ilona Mar
Perfect. Perfect. Perfect.
Adriana Mar
I heard a little rumor that the director of Set it up the Glen Powell. And who's that? Nepo baby. I really like Zoe.
Olivia Mar
Dutch Deutsch.
Adriana Mar
Deutsch. So the director set it up. I think it's directing this one, too.
Ilona Mar
Okay, cool.
Olivia Mar
That was pretty high hopes.
Adriana Mar
I love Set It Up.
Olivia Mar
I was just talking to dad, and he was like, Can I say something about that movie star guy? I was like, absolutely. Which one? Glenn Powell. He's like, I don't get it. I don't see him as the Hollywood, like, you know, movie star man type. I just don't see it. I was like, do you see a capybara? Is that what you say instead? You guys know that meme?
Adriana Mar
Yeah.
Olivia Mar
Okay, cool. Jesus Christ. You scared me there. But dad. So Dad's not understanding the. The Glenn Powell vibe, whereas. I get it. I love him. I think it works.
Ilona Mar
I can kind of hear what he's.
Adriana Mar
Saying, but Glenn is in his bag these days. Like, he is doing project after project.
Olivia Mar
Heard.
Ilona Mar
Good for him.
Adriana Mar
Sorry, I was just. I was seeing all the ads for Superman, and I was like, who is this man? I was like, this man is so hot. And then I was like, I. I was on TikTok and I was like, it's the hot guy from Twisters.
Olivia Mar
Yeah, yeah.
Adriana Mar
It's the hot evil scientist. And even during Twisters, I was like, I spotted that.
Ilona Mar
Who?
Olivia Mar
Dad in a bag? Yeah, true. I just saw a girl's TikTok that she was like, the existence of. What's his name? His last name is, like, Wetsworth or something. The guy playing Superman. Who's Superman?
Adriana Mar
David Corn Sweat. Corn Sweat?
Ilona Mar
Olivia, you got you and names today, dude.
Adriana Mar
What is going on?
Olivia Mar
Corn Sweat. Sorry. A girl on TikTok was saying that the existence of David Corn Sweat implies the existence of another list of men that were just as hot, with kind eyes, beautifully built, over six feet, who could be Superman. That didn't make the cut. We need access to that list. We gotta find who else was on that long or short list.
Adriana Mar
You know who. The guy who played Luthor actually in Superman, who was the. From the great Nicholas Holt. He was in the running for Superman. To which I said, what? Nicholas Hoult. Nicholas Hoult was in the running to be Superman.
Olivia Mar
Much love to Nicholas Holt.
Adriana Mar
That's his different vibe.
Ilona Mar
Attractive.
Adriana Mar
Not Superman, though.
Ilona Mar
Not Superman. Right.
Olivia Mar
I also heard that Mr. David Corin Sweat tells people he's 6 4, but he's actually 65 because he's too tall. So he dumbs it down. What?
Ilona Mar
God. That's the hottest thing I've ever heard.
Olivia Mar
That's the hottest thing I've ever heard.
Ilona Mar
Oh, my gosh.
Olivia Mar
I don't know if that's true, but studies showed that. No.
Ilona Mar
Dang. Well, shoot. Everyone get out there, read a book, and also watch a movie. And don't listen to what bogus studies say. Okay?
Olivia Mar
Yeah, you heard it here first. And also ESPY's. Let alone a host.
Ilona Mar
Let alone a host.
