Hey, my name is Lizzie Smiley and I absolutely love helping people connect with their calling and all the tools they need to kick roadblocks and excuses right out the door so they can cultivate the life they dream about. If you want to launch, grow, pivot, or scale your Etsy shop, or you've always wanted to develop the mindset and skills to run your own business, then I'm your girl. I've had that entrepreneurial spirit going strong since my very first lemonade stand. And now I'm a work at home mama with multiple online companies and a full time Etsy shop, all while being present with my kids for the everyday chaos and most important milestones. On this podcast, we'll talk about all things business, mindset, Etsy, creativity, dazzling our customers, and so much more. There's plenty of room at this table for you, so scooch on in and let's go. I'm holding nothing back. Welcome to how to sell your stuff on Etsy. I'm so glad you're here. All right. Hey, my loves. Welcome back to the show. This week I am recording this the night before it drops because everything is so fresh, so hot. I'm obsessed with trends. I'm so excited to be with you talking about our favorite thing and geeking out about Etsy. I have so much to catch you up on. We have made it through Halloween. We are trudging our way towards Thanksgiving and Christmas. I hope you're having fun with Q4. I know that I am. My mockup shops have been doing great. Especially I have one where I'm selling ornament mockups for the Printify ornaments. And I actually sell. I sell those daily. I mean, it's nothing to like write home to mom about, but it's something that could be interestingly, maybe scaled. But that's been super fun because people in the print on demand space are buying mockups to sell their ornaments. And then I have a brand new digital digital product. What am I trying to say? Digital product shop that I launched on October 12 and I want to tell you about it. Let me give you this update because I've got so much to tell you. But let me give you this update because I've jumped ahead already, which is classic Lizzie. We are in for a ride today, my friends. We are in for an absolute ride. So I decided, I don't even remember when. A while back now. I was still in Wisconsin. I'm just like, you know what? I am going to start a new digital product shop where I am not locked into Any niche I have more freedom and I am going to build it to at least like a $5,000 a month shop. Because I want to show you A, I can. You can, which means you can. P.S. i'm actually not that good of a designer. And B, new shops can still get ranked and do well on Etsy. We're just going to slash that whole like the only the OGs make money. I want to dispel, I want to dispel myths. I want to remove the glass ceiling from us so that we're gonna see I'm either we're gonna sink or swim together. We're gonna find out. So I launched the shop October 12, 2024. We were driving home from driving back to Texas from Wisconsin. It's a three day drive. It's my favorite because my toddler is locked down and he cannot get in my way. He can't tear anything up and I can just be on my laptop. It's the best geek out ever. So I go ahead and I launch this shop and to date, so we're coming up on a month but I definitely didn't like haven't added listings every day actually that's my biggest thing that I want to tell you about, like my frustration. But as of Today I have 45 live listings. I have, I have, I wrote down here 12 sales but I think some came in this afternoon. I think maybe it's at 13. Let's just check the app. I was going to turn it over but oh no, we're at 16 sales. I need to update my data here. So yeah, I got several today. This is a brand new shop by the way. I have one product that is in more than 20 carts for one listing. I have five separate listings that have sold. So one that's selling, selling the most, but five that are sold and one I actually listed last night and it sold today. So all of this, it's going to take weeks for the algorithm to index. No, like it's AI, it's super fast. It can't. Time can help and it is good to have things up in advance, but that's obviously not necessary or something I listed last night that I didn't even think was that hot of a, of a product already sold. So that is what's going on. To be honest with you, I'm doing. Let me just be honest with you. I'm surprised I don't have a bestseller badge on that one yet. The, the way that the algorithm works with that is different. For every product in every niche, there's not kind of like hard and set rules that Etsy has that says a bestseller. Like, you'll find, you'll find some products where it's a bestseller and it's only sold 20 or 30 times and it like sells three or four times a month. But because that niche is just not as busy, it's considered one of the best sellers in the niche, whereas. And then you'll have other niches. Like I'm doing. Did I say this already? Oh my gosh, Lizzie. I'm doing PNGs and Tumblr wraps that are made with AI and Canva and elements that I'm using from Creative Fabrica. Some kiddle thrown in there. I'm, you know, playing around. So nothing too crazy, but in those, those are really busy niches. So it's going to take more volume, faster movement movement to get the bestseller badge. I would not be surprised though. I expect to have one by the end of this week. I'm doing if you're, I don't know if you're big on Instagram. My Instagram is at how to sell your stuff. At how to sell your stuff. I am doing every few days like a story update to tell you what's happening in the shop and I'm creating a highlight for it too, so that the whole story will be in there. So if you want to keep up with it, I will obviously announce the bestseller badge with fanfare on the story. But I hope that you'll join me on Instagram. I'm having a lot of fun over there, posting a lot of reels, just playing in that world. That's like a whole different, whole different story we could talk about. So yeah, I'm actually going to do a dedicated episode probably in January for the new digital product shop. I'll have enough data by then to tell you a lot of times those episodes do really well where I say like a I started an AI PNG Tumblr wrap shop. Here's what happened. Like, people love those kinds of headlines. And I mean, like, I can't help it either. I love those kinds of things. I want to hear what happened. So by then I should have some really interesting data. My biggest headache so far is I feel like my voice is a higher timber today. It's higher pitched. I'm not sure why. My biggest frustration is I can't get listings up fast enough. I really have a goal. Like honestly, if you want to hear my gangster role or goal, it's it would be to have like 2020 new listings up A day. And I say that because Bailey Design company, who is my friend. And ps, she's on the podcast next week. We had so much fun when she was launching her shop, which was PN, which was PNGs and Tumblr wraps. A couple years ago, she built that shop to $45,000 a month on a digital product. And that is bananas to me. That is not even my goal. I'm not mad if it happens, but that's not even my goal. But she was saying, like, in her. In her high time there, she was publishing 20 new listings a day. For me right now, the learning curve has been big, like how to prompt the AI and setting up. I have so much to set up, and I'm honestly, like I said, I'm not that good of a designer. So having to, you know, spend a little more time, I think as I get better and as I get faster, I'll be able to get more up a day. But right now, you know, two to three a day. Some days I don't even, because my toddler literally is feral in the best possible way. And sometimes I just don't. Between the podcast and everything else that I do, I just don't have time. So normal person energy over here. I have big goals, I have big intentions, and stuff gets in the way, and sometimes I can't meet that. This is how many listings I want to get up a day, but I am making sure that I am adding new listings regularly because it stokes the algorithm, you guys. It's so important. Okay. All that to say. I have a question. Let me. Let me add a caveat. All my ADHD girls are tracking with me, and everyone else wants to turn this podcast off right now. I love you guys so much. So I've interviewed this lovely, lovely lady, and her episode is airing not for a while, in sometime in December, probably. And she was part of what really caught my attention on the Tumblr wraps because I thought it was really saturated. Bailey. Bailey would want to smack me for saying that it's really not saturated. Like, honestly, nothing is. There's too many micro niches all over Etsy for anything to be saturated. I think one of the hardest things to sell would be jewelry, which is a tangent I could go off on, because I think it's harder to go after micro niches and jewelry. But if you could put. If you could incorporate trends in jewelry, even that would be fine. Um, so this girl that I interviewed started her shop in January of 2024. Yeah. And I interviewed her in early in October 2024 and she was making, I think, I don't want to make up a number. It was at least 5,000amonth passive from that digital product shop. She was selling sublimation wraps and PNGs. Exactly what I'm selling. I think her number was higher. It may have been 7,000amonth actually. It may have even gotten up to higher than that. I think I'm confusing stories though. So we're gonna hear her story in a few weeks. But when I saw that, I was like, what? I've got to look into this. And that's what sent me down this rabbit hole. So I've got it going. I'm in that early phase of cranking. I what I wanted to ask you is do some of you guys want me to do a new AI workshop that is specific for PNGs and Tumblr reps? Do you want me to teach you what I'm doing? I'd be curious to know if you'd like an AI class like that because it's very different from when the AI mockup course that I have, which is incredible. It's one of my best selling things I've ever done. It's been, it's helped so many people. Making your own mockups or selling mockups on Etsy is still great. I still make daily sales from both of those shops. But this is different. PNGs and Tumblr wraps are different. So let me know. There is a link for you to drop your email address. You would not go into my. You're not gonna go into my funnel. You're not gonna go on my email list. It's just for me to send you a personal email from my Gmail to let you know there were enough people who were interested. Here's when it's gonna be. And then I'm gonna add a couple questions in there. Like drop your email if you want me to let you know. And then do you want me to just show how to do the AI part or do you want me to show like how to find the trends, how to decide what to design, how to write the SEO, how to set up the listing. Do you want any of that? So please fill that out if you have any interest. You wanna learn what I'm doing, how I'm doing it? I would love, love, love to do another AI workshop, but I just wanna see. I'm not gonna do it unless you guys want me to. Right. Okay. More normal person stuff. I have to tell you the literal craziness that have been going on here for the past few weeks. I feel like I'm on the verge of kind of breaking through to a new level of, like, hitting my goals, and resistance always comes. What do they say? I actually hate the phrase, like, new level, new levels, new devils. Blech. But it's kind of true. Stuff happens. Let me tell you, because I know some of you are over there, like, lizzie, I can't do this. There's all of this thing. All this is happening, and I'm trying to run my life, and then all these problems are happening. I need you to know what's been the last two weeks, and we're not even gonna talk about the election and the distraction that is the election and the drama. I am so anti drama. I am so anti division and strife. I want to go back to the days where it didn't matter what our political thing was. We could still, like, have a glass of wine together and talk and, like, really listen to each other. That's what I yearn for. But anyway, so a whole bunch of different things happened. First of all, my payment processor canceled me for my website. They were just like, no, we're not going to work with you anymore. And that was a mess. I've had to spend all this time now getting a new one, which is such a pain. Like, if you can't use the normal one, that stripe is what everyone uses. If you can't use it, you're going to have to jump through hoops. Everything is figureoutable. Hello. I'm going to practice what I preach, but I've had to deal with that. And it's been weeks and it's still not in place. And it's a whole situation. Number two, if you're on my Instagram, you heard. I had a bit of an email snafu where I was trying to remove. I did this whole thing. I sent out an email to people who hadn't been engaged with me in a while because I hate spam. I don't want to email you if you don't want to hear from me. I really don't. And so I was just like, hey, let me know if you still want to stay on the list or not. Did that, whatever. And then I go in to kind of clean up the list, right? Remove people who said they didn't want to hear or who didn't, you know, didn't reengage. Fine. I accidentally deleted 5,000 of you who wanted to hear from me, and I had to, like, click this acknowledgement being like, I acknowledge that this is irreversible and whatever. And I'm thinking I'm going along normal and I deleted the wrong people. I think it's going to get fixed. That's a whole situation. And then was it yesterday or the day before? I got hacked on my LinkedIn and it is still gone. They're trying to restore it for me. I still can't get in there. They changed my name to Katie. I don't. Even if you get some kind of random thing from me on LinkedIn, very few of us are connected, but it's not me. And I did not change my name to Katie. So here's the thing. Stuff happens. We come up against obstacles. I have just laughed my butt off through all of it because you know, it's all gonna be fine. It's all gonna be fine. But it does add a layer of stress and it has slowed down me adding listings to my shop and it has affected things. And I just think it's important to be really human with you and let you know that crud happens to all of us. And it doesn't matter how successful I might look to you or how much you want to, there are still challenges, obstacles. And this is why mindset is so important. This is why Jenny and I talk to you guys about mindset. Because old Lizzie, if just one of those things happened, would be like ready to give up. So devastated, so heartbroken, so worried. And I literally cackled. I was just laughing and it wasn't even like, I'm laughing so I don't cry. I was just like, you know what, this is annoying. It's funny. It's going to be fine. Also, I don't think I need you to submit your email address again if you want to hear from me because I guess Kajabi is going to help me get those names back. But you may not hear from me for a few weeks and I'll let you know in a future episode if you actually need to get back on the list if you're not hearing from me. Okay, let's see. I need to get in here to the trend report, but let me tell you real quick about if you haven't heard this yet, at the beginning of fall I launched a new course because my massive big 20 hour course, it's really hard for people to get through. It's too much information. I'm sometimes a bit of a details nerd. So I get excited when I see like every stone is unturned or no stone is unturned in a course. And I'm gonna get to learn everything. It kind of gives me security but most people get really overwhelmed and so I thought I was doing a favor with all that information. But this new one, it's called six figure Secrets to Getting started on Etsy. It's less than three hours and it's no fluff. So it's everything you need to get started. Everything for physical products, print on demand and digital products. I'm going to teach you how to find out what is in demand because that is so important. So many Etsy sellers that are new are just making what they think is cool, what they want to make instead of what's in demand. How to find and use trends in your listings because that is the way to fast success. That's the reason my new shop is taking off. It's all trend based. It's extremely important to success on Etsy. How to start your shop. I even have a click by click launch for some people who are a little tech overwhelmed. I have my SEO strategy in there. How to find the micro niches where the opportunities are that are high demand, low competition. Understanding the algorithm on its E like so much more. It's bite sized, short videos, zero fluff. If you need that, if you need a basic intro course, if you need to understand Etsy, then you want to get it today because I have an introductory price on it. It's only $47, which is insane. It should be hundreds of dollars like you take this course and you could make hundreds of thousands of dollars on Etsy. But I want it to be affordable. We're in a time where things need to be affordable and yes, we all deserve to get paid for the work we do but I want to make it affordable for you. I am. It's been open for a while though, so I'm going to be raising the price on Monday 11th November. Grab it now. If you've been thinking about it, if you want to learn that it's really, really going to help you. I I've just filtered down what you really need to know. You could, if you're listening, the day this drops you could get it today, you could take it tomorrow and Friday, you could have your shop launched on Saturday and you could be making sales by Sunday based on the data I have showing that I'm listing things one night in a new shop and selling them the next day. So massively discounted right now. Get it before the price goes up Monday the 11th and that's a wrap on all that. Today we're going to cover Etsy's trend report what they put out every October, I think they put it on the 31st or the 30th. They publish a report saying here's what we're seeing as the official holiday trends. And then I'm gonna go over my more detailed observations because I'm obsessed and it's so fun. So here's the first thing I'm the trend report from Etsy is gonna be linked from the seller handbook article in the show notes like everything always is. But I'm gonna give you the overview of what you need. They don't make it nearly as detailed as it used to be. Number one, the first trend is Chrome. That's right, Chrome. Ms. Chrome is having a major moment this holiday season. It's everywhere from nails to decor. Chrome Mist is all about sleek, futuristic surfaces that feel fresh and unexpected for the holidays. Think reflective home decor that channels space age chic and accessories that give you an out of this world aura. Whether it's ornaments or cocktail glasses, the high shine finish will have you glowing brighter than your tree topper. We are really seeing all over the place, not just Etsy, a major rise, an interest in Chrome. Chrome Searches for chrome decor are up 3756%. If you're in the decor space, run, don't walk. It's all about chrome. Okay, here we go. For jewelry, this is a in a very difficult niche. This is a trend that you could incorporate and get some sales. It's up 104% searches for that and then chrome glasses up 40%. So if you do glassware, I wonder, you could probably even do some engraving if you have that kind of machinery. Very interesting. The next Trend, according to Etsy.com is Mythical Medieval. It says channel your inner castle era with luxe pieces like copper gifts and wall art fit for royalty. Rich, dramatic fabrics like velvet and faux fur paired with fantasy inspired elements such as folklore motifs and goblet glassware give your home and wardrobe a regal, timeless feel. So we're seeing jewel tones, we're seeing deep sapphire blues, rich ruby reds, and apparently I don't even know what this is referring to. Maybe it says a popular witchy musical set to bring back emerald green in a big way. Magic is definitely in the air. I feel like emerald was last year's color, but maybe I am behind the times and something like Wicked is coming out again. That sounds about right, right? I think someone said they were gonna go see Wicked anyway. Point is they're expecting emerald green to become more popular. We will See, chunky jewelry Searches are up 85%. Mystic, medieval or goth wall art is up 24%. Folklore dresses up 19%. The next trend is pastoral prints. This is so cool. Like western is just here to stay for now. And I'm so happy about it being like a south Texas girl over here. So our obsession with western style is riding strong this holiday season with how prints making a comeback in a big way and emerging as a surprising new neutral. So rather than being your flashy thing, it's a neutral thing. From statement rugs to cozy. That's funny to call it neutral and then stay statement rugs to cozy accessories like cushions, throws and even stockings, the trend offers a touch of yeehaw in a chic, understated way. Oh my goodness. Etsy western tote bags searches are up 406%. So my purse makers, I know several of you, Western taupe bags, look into that keyword, see what you can do there. Suede bags is 205%. It's interesting because they're talking about pastoral prints, but they only have these. The percentage increases for bags. I'm seeing it though all over the place in the digital space as well. Especially this past week. I'm seeing it past like cow prints, animal prints trend combined with the holiday thing. Like there was this PNG file that was a bestseller and it was this, it was, I'm sure it was made with mid journey with or with some AI. It was a pumpkin and it had a, it had like a coquette bow on it, but it wasn't pink. The pumpkin and the bow were all kind of splashed, I'm gonna say with cow print. Super interesting. So we're seeing it show up everywhere. Interesting that they're just giving us the, the data for the bags. The next trend is Charmed Life. So charms are in. Layering on charms is in. Whether it's charm bracelets here. So jewelry people, I go and I say your niche is super saturated and here it is blowing up. I stand corrected. Whether it's charm bracelets, charm adorned handbags, or even charm decorated tree ornaments, this trend is turning everything into an opportunity for self expression. Vintage charms up 305%. Charm necklaces 156%. Charm cups 51%. Bag charms 65%. If I was selling charms, I would be paying, I would listen, I would take this very important piece where they're talking about the vintage charms and charm necklaces and cups and bags and whatever on the rise and I would trend combined with the trends. I'm going to talk about here in a little bit when we go into my version of the report and what I am seeing everywhere because there are certain elements that are key for the upcoming holidays and then just key on the platform generally. That combined with charms could really, really help A Etsy shop that sells jewelry. The next trend is heirloom. Heirloom era. Enter the heirloom era where timeless treasures and vintage inspired finds are stealing the spotlight. Whether it's hand embroidered napkins, jewelry steeped in history, or patterned porcelain dishes that channel a certain fictional pasta making grandma, this trend celebrates meaningful gifts meant to be passed down. They're like undercover pop culture. References are sending me a new stand. A standout new heirloom Christmas Eve boxes which saw over 1 million searches on Etsy in 2023. I did not even know that. So vintage style items up 181%. Vintage sold gold jewelry 79%. Personalized pet portraits up 80%. All right, I gotta say this because I'm obsessed with SEO and all of that. Here's something you need to know about the word vintage. Everyone is searching for vintage like shoppers are. It's a huge trend and there's this whole issue that it's a category on Etsy. So the second you type the word vintage with anything in the search bar, a filter is going to be applied looking for things that are classified as vintage items, meaning 20 years or older. Even though we are like the word vintage is being used for, you know, PNGs that have Santa on them. So what you need to be very careful when you're doing SEO research. It's going to look like vintage is huge, but it's actually not going to qualify towards your normal SEO kind of search score because it's going to automatically go as a filter. So if you don't know what I'm talking about, sometime soon, go to Etsy.com, preferably on a browser. It's easier to see type in like vintage Santa. And what's going to happen is you're going to hit enter and then the word vintage is going to be gone from your search. It's just going to say Santa. And if you look a little below the search bar, there's going to be a tag there. There's going to be a filter set for vintage. So it's not going to, it's not going to catalog the whole keyword with vintage in it. So yes, people want it. Look for other words like antique or if it's appropriate, retro that you can also use in your SEO to Classify something as vintage, you can still have the name on your title. I think it's good for the customer experience for them to see vintage there. Just know that it's not going to help your SEO ranking and I hope I didn't confuse you more than I helped right there. The next trend is Nature Reborn. We are just seeing nature continue to be a moment and I hope it stays forever. From upcycled wood pieces to dried fruit displays, this trend celebrates the beauty and tranquility of nature. Perfect for the eco minded shopper, these gifts and decor items bring the calm and simplicity of the outdoors inside, creating a peaceful, grounded holiday atmosphere. Wooden furniture searches are up 69%. So my furniture people, that's great for you. Wood decor up 10%. Leather bookmark up 42%. That pretty much summarizes Etsy's trend report. Like I said, they have simplified them a lot compared to what they used to be. But I think it's maybe, I don't know better. I think before it had a lot of fluff that wasn't very helpful. But here I want to talk now about. I have done like a ton of trends study on Etsy, both for my own shops but also for the weekly trend report I've been sending. I had some emails recently from people being like, hey, did you ever start that? Because I had talked about it for so long. And yes, I have been running the weekly trend report since September. So if you have no idea what I'm talking about, I send out an email to a weekly subscriber list that has a video on how to find trends. So it's gonna be like an overview of Here are the things that are trending on Etsy, here's how to apply them, here's what you can trend combine. It's going to give you so many ideas of what is hot right now and the more that you incorporate trends, the faster you can get sales. And I will tell you, this is something I used to resist because I felt intimidated by it and so that is why I am here. You don't need to be intimidated by it. I am happy to literally show you what I am finding so you don't figure it out. But this is kind of interesting. So I just had somebody who'd been on for a few months email me to cancel their membership. But here's what they said. She said, lizzie, I've learned so much from watching these videos and watching you do it that I know how to do it myself now. And so I'm gonna cancel. But I wanna thank you. Like, this was unbelievably helpful and taught me everything that I didn't know how to do. You guys, this is what I live for. Like, I am here to empower you, to give you what you need so you can go out into the beautiful world that is Etsy and just slay and not even need me. Like, let's just be friends. Come on the podcast. Share your success story. So what? I send out the trend report and then I also provide five product opportunities. So if you're never sure what to sell, you don't know what would be hot. I give five opportunities. Some of them are going to be print on demand and some of them are going to be digital products. I kind of rotate each week, you know, three and two of each, and they're going to be high demand, low competition. So instead of going after, like a mom shirt that's going to be super saturated with hundreds of thousands of competing listings, I am finding you, like that micro niche mom shirt. And I'm saying here, this is what you create, this is what you design for, because there is the demand here. So I'm showing you what they are. I'm showing you how I found them. I'm showing you the data. And just like our friend who canceled their membership because they are now empowered to go search themselves. I'm so excited for her. So excited for you. You can get, you can get the trend report and learn. I have a coupon code, keep 20. So if you put that into when you check out, you will save $20 on your first month of membership. Also, because I've had so many tech issues, I haven't been able to fix this yet. Right now, when you create an account, you're going to be able to see every trend report and product opportunity since early September. Weeks upon weeks upon weeks of opportunities and trends. And down the road that everyone's going to just when people enroll, they're just going to get then forward, they're not going to get the back. But for right now, my loss is your gain. Like, jump on it. So I guess before I encourage you to do that, let me tell you about the trends. Let me tell you what I'm seeing and you can tell me if you think it would be worth it to get these weekly. So I did an overview of Christmas trends specifically for people on my email list. If you want to jump on my list, I have a link in the Show Notes where I will just go ahead and send you that video overview. If you want to see this visually, it's only for Christmas. So I'm about to talk about Thanksgiving and then also overall trends. But it'll still kind of help you see visually what's going on Thanksgiving this year. The elements that we are seeing it's very cute is pumpkins. Of course, that's just duh, lots of vintage pumpkins. We've got. And we've got like glitter pumpkins, watercolor pumpkins, the pump, you know, everything trend combined pumpkin. The next big one is pumpkin pie. This is. I think it's so funny. There's this cute shirt that's sort of mimicking like the Pac man thing, but it's like. It's like a pumpkin pie with a piece cut out. That's sort of like the Pat the Pac man mouth. And then there's little whipped cream dollops that the Pac man pumpkin is going after. It's not like a. I mean, this isn't legal advice, but it's not like an IP violation. There's nothing Pac man about it other than if you ever played, you'd be. You would totally connect that in your head. It's brilliant. We're seeing cute elements like turkeys and a lot of pumpkin pie slices and then just fall elements as falling into the Thanksgiving. I suggest that you go on Etsy and maybe search Thanksgiving T shirts filter by bestseller and you can see more of how that's being applied. I don't know when you're going to listen to this, but my guess is for a lot of you, it's going to be too late to do Thanksgiving. So we're going to pop up into Christmas. The biggest elements I'm seeing for Christmas are our Christmas trees. But minimalist. So they're typically not going to be very ornate. They're not going to be super decorated. We're seeing a lot of plain evergreen trees or very, very simple baubles or something like that on it or ribbon wrapped around it or just lights on it. Very, very minimalist. This year it's all about gingerbread Man. Gingerbread men. Completely adorable. I love it. I don't remember that in previous years as much. They're everywhere. Same with nutcrackers. Are very, very in. And then Christmas tree cookies. So if you ever had one of those, I think they're by Hostess or Little Debbie or something. And there are these little cookies that are like. I guess they're kind of cake. They're kind of. Right. Christmas tree. Yeah, they're like your kind of standard Little Debbie wrapped in plastic thing and it's dipped in White chocolate and has, you know, it's not even sprinkles. I guess it's just coloring on it that makes it look like a Christmas tree. They're completely adorable. Completely disgusting if you ask me. But I'm so sorry if I just crushed you. Like, I totally respect your love of Christmas tree cookies. They are everywhere. I'm gonna be honest with you. Like, I don't know what the trademark IP factors legally would be for Nutcracker. Like, if you're using the nut. The Nutcracker concept or name or Christmas tree cookies. Like, I really wish we had Paige Hulse here to be like, what's the deal? I think there we're seeing them everywhere, so watch that. Whoa. Whatever you do, don't do Grinch. You're gonna see Grinch everywhere. They shut people down every single year. I haven't seen anything happen with the Christmas tree cookies and nutcrackers. It's my responsibility to tell you they are massively on trend. I can tell you for suresies that the Grinch is an intellectual property piece that is still very active and you can't use it. And then the other really big thing is vintage Santa. Everywhere. Everyone's loving a vintage Santa, so you have to kind of see it to. It's very, very cute. It makes me think of, like, you know, my favorite thing is, and I don't even drink it, but, you know, like, the Coca Cola cans that have the Santa on them make me so happy every year I just want to look at them. And now is when I really geek out. Because if you listened to the episode with Beowulf Biz where she was talking about how to basically do print on demand in Q4. And, you know, we were expecting her to come out and tell us what the trends are or what to do, what to design, what sell really great. And she smashed all of our hopes and dreams and said, don't design for Q4. Design for the trends and the things that are going around year round. And they're just going to sell more in Q4 because people are going to buy them as gifts. And we were all like, oh, wow. Yeah, that's a really, really good point. Don't get me wrong. I still totally designed for Q4. But her mentality is great, right? Because what I design in October to sell in December, I'm going to sell for one month. What if I had used that time to design for something that could sell year round? Right? So now we're going to talk about the overall trends. What I am Seeing everywhere. This has just been super, super fun. So the first one where literally you have to have been under a rock if you haven't seen the coquette bows everywhere. Please don't feel bad if you have no idea what I'm talking about. Just a few years ago, I would not have known what the trends were at all. The coquette trend is a very feminine, delicate touch. It's typically presented as a very, very feminine pink bow. And that has been just gone in every single direction. And it's just now the bow represents coquette. So we are seeing it, like I said before, like that, that pumpkin PNG that has the cow print but then has the bow on it. We are seeing bows everywhere. So anything that you sell or design that you can incorporate coquette themes into, I, you will do great. If you want to take a look at it, go on Etsy, maybe search like, I don't know, coquette, png, coquette shirt, something like that, and you'll see lots of examples. Coquette is spelled C O, Q, U, E, T, T E. And it is absolutely everywhere, pervasive. The next thing we're seeing everywhere is embroidery. I, you know, if you'd asked me a year ago, I would have thought by now it's actually, I considered buying an embroidery machine and starting a shop for Robbie to do embroidery. I know I've been talking about that forever. We are finally honing in on a shop for her. But I was like, I'm worried that embroidery is going to be flash in the pan. I don't know if it's like going to be here to say, oh, my gosh, it is only growing, getting better, doing great. It's everywhere. And shops that sell embroidery are, are able to kind of take off because it's a harder thing to do. Oh, I will also add now you can get embroidery through print on demand. I have not tested it. I have not gotten samples. That'd be so fun. I should try it. I'd be very curious to see also. So just like email me or DM me if you have done embroidery with Print on Demand and let me know your experience, let me know what your thoughts are, what you thought the quality was. Because that's. That's going to be the big issue. I want to say. I don't. You have to kind of look at the different providers also, like, side note, did you see that Printful and Printify are merging into one company? Bananas. I know no more than that at this point, but it was announced a couple days ago and our Heads are all spinning. I think Printful had more embroidery options or better embroidery options than Printify. So Printful for embroidery. But look into it, see what they've got. Get samples is the biggest thing. Embroidery everywhere. Other big niches, the Christian Bible inspired niches everywhere. They are very, very good at trend combining and they. I feel like they're on the first page of anything that's not vulgar for search results. Vintage vibes on everything. Like I told you, watch your SEO with that. But everything with vintage vibes is doing great. We're also specifically seeing retro 70s flowers, 90 retro elements, all of that kind of together in the same, you know, in the same world. We are seeing western continue to thrive. As I mentioned earlier, another really big niche that just constantly has just bestsellers on page one of search are for the book lovers. So designs that incorporate anything from like the Bookstagram book talk, just book nerd niche. They are voracious for their, you know, for their things that celebrate their. Their bookishness. Always a big niche, always awesome to trend combine, you know, trend combining book stuff with coquette trend combining embroidery with book stuff, trend combining western with book stuff. So, so smart. And then also just like any of that trend combining does so well. Raccoons are stinking everywhere. It's so funny. Like there's a bunch of animals that are kind of that kind of trend. Raccoons have just taken over the trash. Panda is winning, like no competition. Highland cows also do okay. Barnyard just generally, you know, farm animals, super popular. Chickens are always big. Dogs and cats are always big. And dinosaurs have kind of been having a moment and otherwise, you know, you see things like butterflies and moths and. Is there any other animal I wanted to. There's a few others that are smattering here and there. Probably not noteworthy enough. The next thing is I said retro line art, minimalist botanicals. I'm seeing it everywhere. Like even new shops are coming out with really, really delicate line art. Stems, flowers or wildflowers or I should have specifically added wildflowers everywhere. But the, you know, very, very delicate. And we're seeing them both in neutrals, which is kind of where they started, like neutral tones. We're also seeing it in spicy like hot pinks now too. So people are taking that minimalist botanical vibe trend and combining it with like the real colorful avant garde neon trend. Super interesting. I have a couple of fun words I'm going to share with you that are trends that are interesting to watch out for. In fact, the next trend report that I drop on the 11th of November. I'm going to be doing a bit of a deep dive into these for fun because they are showing up more and more. The first one is Grand Millennial. Some of you are younger and you just already know all about this, but I was like, skr. That's the cutest word ever. What? Um, I'm technically like the oldest millennial. I'm 42. I was born like right on the year where you're. They're almost like you're a Gen Xer. But I'm technically an elderly millennial, so Grand Millennial is perfect for me. So a Grand Millennial is sometimes referred to as Granny Chic, which like game, set, match, that's epic. Grand Millennial style combines traditional homey pieces with modern elements. Unlike sleek modern or industrial interiors, Grand Millennial style embraces typically outdated decor such as floral patterned curtains and china plates and prints. So imagine like you've got a room that's generally a little more, you know, updated. Modern definitely has technology, but then you're going to have the most gorgeous antique dresser there and you're going to have some wall art. That is the prints are just a little, a little more dated granny. So it's like updated granny. Totally, totally precious. But not stark, not sleek, not, not your super, super contemporary appearance. It's got some warm touches. I mean, if you're watching Fixer Upper, they would be like, it's got charm, it's got character. The reason someone would have wanted an older house rather than a new construction is they don't want to lose the charm. That is so granny chic. But then they go and they update it, right? They don't keep all the weirdness, they keep the cute things and then they fix and update the not so cute parts. So that's the first one, Grand Millennial. The next one is Toile de Joie. And Toile de Joie often consists of a white or off white background, like a. Traditionally it was a cotton fabric that is printed with a single color. Bucolic scene. We're seeing this show up a lot in dark blue is one of the main colors. Also kind of like a burgundy red is kind of common into some pinks because they're trying, you know, they're pulling on the coquette. But you will see this everywhere. It's coming out more and more and more. The trend actually started last year, but I feel like it's just now starting to really peak. So Toile de joie T O I L E D E joie is J O U Y and that has kind of a partner which is called chinoiserie. Chinoiserie, it's like the word chin C H I N O I S E R I E. So toile de joie often consists of white or off white. Oh, I already said that. Cotton fabric printed with single. Single color. We call it colors. Oh, wait, did I. I messed up that note. I just copied the same thing twice. Chinoiserie came from. I need to go. Hang on, I gotta pause and go grab the actual answer to that or explanation. Okay, got it. If I try to summarize these things in my own words, it often doesn't go well. So the chinoiserie is the imitation or evocation, evocation of Chinese motifs and techniques in Western art. So a Western artist, a Western person brings in elements that feel very Chinese inspired into their art. Their furniture, their architecture. This was especially prevalent in the 18th century. We are seeing this also. We're seeing deep blue colors, indigo kind of colors, typically a floral pattern, but you know, almost has like an Asian flair to it. And again, it's on an off white background. So you'll often. And I mean here, here's what I'll tell you. As I'm seeing these trends appear on Etsy, they're not being done correctly. Sort of like coquette, you know, being in a cow print. Bow is not actually coquette, but it's a spin off a trend combination with coquette. Just taking the bow piece. Toile de joie and chinoiserie, they're the people are typically what it, what it's meaning to them is that type of a scene that is all in one color and feels very vintage. Like that's really what it's a vintage scene or a vintage print in usually dark blue on an off white background. So check them out. They're super interesting. I think we're going to see them show up more and more. I just hope that you enjoyed this as much as I did. I feel like I was really good company for myself, myself the past 40 minutes.
