We should just keep driving forever. Copper never gets to leave the seat.

I'm kidding. I'm looking, too. Got any snacks back there?

[Copper]

Which green one? Give me that crunchy fajita. Why didn't you get the good ones?

They were cheap. They only cost one haiku.

It's barely spraying. It's too early for things to be burning.

Should I pull over? There's no shoulder. We'd still be in the lane.

There aren't even other cars. We should be able to stop in the middle of the road, right?

We stay calm and we keep going until we find somewhere to turn. Guys, do we have a turn?

[Amber]

I don't want to drive. I really don't want to drive.

Then what am I supposed to do?

[Silver]

You're supposed to rest. You're supposed to heal up.

[Copper]

Glass, can you switch with me?

I can try.

The night's already started, Copper. We can't stop now.

Summer. The other said it wasn't always like that. That it used to be nice. It didn't used to be so hot. I don't remember. Somehow we always ended up looking forward to it. But there must be a reason why we always forgot.

[Silver]

[Glass]

Yeah, I've got it.

I'm okay.

[Copper]

I hope I won't be able to see out that window.

[Amber]

I couldn't see out of it with all the cracking either.

We were almost done with winter. But we'd driven into another long night. Nothing is certain during those. Winter can change into summer. Time can bend indefinitely. Space can turn inside out. What if it comes back.

[Silver]

We only have to worry about right now.

[Glass]

The sky is going in the wrong direction.

[Copper]

Don't look at it so hard then.

[Amber]

When I tried to remember Summer, I always got a vague impression that it was nice. I always remembered it being okay.

[Glass]

I see something out there, but there's.

[Amber]

Always the itch in the back of my mind.

[Silver]

What kind of something?

[Amber]

That maybe they were just telling me it was streets.

[Copper]

Lights off ramp.

[Glass]

Nope.

[Silver]

Hand me that paint marker. Come on, darling. Focus. I'm disappointed in you.

[Glass]

No, you're not.

[Amber]

I'm not disappointed. I'm mad. We still have to deal with you.

We're almost at the equinox. We could have used an extra hand.

[Copper]

You wasted a whole limb trying to get magic. You can't do it.

We can't slow down, Copper. The fire is right behind us.

Astor can't reach us and he'll turn.

We need to stop the car. It'll be better if we stop the car.

Silver. We lost Amber.

[Silver]

We did not lose Amber. They'll be all right. Don't look back there, y'all.

I'm just looking at the road.

[Copper]

I'm straight ahead, too, Silver. Don't worry about me.

Sometimes I wonder if the summers in this world would be nicer.

[Glass]

If the change happened 30 years ago.

[Copper]

40 years ago, when summers weren't as hot, when winters weren't as cold. Can't we do anything to help them?

I smelled smoke in the car. It was raining. It should have smothered the fire. But lucky us, we got both the heat and the flood and the little voice saying it can all be like it was. It can go back to.

I just hit somebody.

[Silver]

Keep driving, Silver.

[Amber]

I just hit square somebody.

[Silver]

They didn't hit a person. Keep driving. They're dead already. Copper, step on him.

We killed them.

No, Amber, we didn't kill them. Believe me, y'all, that person left us a long time ago.
