Foreign.
B
Hi, guys. Welcome back to I'll Read what she's Reading. I'm Mikayla.
C
I'm Reggie.
A
And I'm Kennedy.
B
And today we're doing Will they or Won't They? With Book Couples. But before we get into that, we're going to be updating you guys on the books we've been reading. Reggie, would you like to start it off?
C
Yeah, I. Yeah, I finished Starside.
B
Oh.
C
And I don't want to, like, say too much because I know these guys will probably want to read it.
B
I don't know.
C
Or no, I can't decide. You know, I initially finished the book. I gave it three stars, and then I ended up bumping up my rating to 3.5 because I kind of still can't stop thinking about the ending. I think there were things in it that I kind of was just. Just tropes that I'm kind of tired of seeing, you know, But I can see why a lot of people rated it very highly because it does have a lot of the things that you love in a good romantasy book. Yeah, there was one thing I wasn't. Everyone said there's, like, this big plot twist, I guess the big plot twist. But there was. I don't even know how you'd call it a plot twist that I really like. I'm really excited for the second book, actually. I just think that the first, like, 75%. I felt like so much was happening, but then nothing was happening at the same time. It felt like every chapter felt the same. Like.
A
Yeah, that's a long time for it to feel the same.
C
It really did. It was like they're in one spot and they. There's a little battle and then they're in another spot and they're waiting and then there's a battle, and then it was just like.
B
It felt.
C
Yeah, just like. I don't know, the pacing of it felt a little strange. But the last, like, 10% of the book was pretty. Pretty great, even though I guessed some things. But I do think there's something about it that does feel a little unique, that that's why I'm really excited for the next book. I don't know. It's my first Alex Aster book. I never read Light Lark, so I know a lot of people didn't like it because they said it felt similar to Light Lark. But then I was looking up what feels similar, and I didn't. I couldn't tell why it felt similar. From what I had heard about Light Lark, if that makes Sense. So I don't know. But yeah, I finished that. And I don't know, I don't think it was the right fantasy book for me to read, but I'm still glad I read it because, you know, the next book comes out in November, I believe, so not too long, which is crazy considering it just came out this year.
A
I feel like she pumps books out. She pumps books out.
B
Yeah.
C
Anyways, that's my most recent read. I'll just leave it there because that was a. That was a longer one and took up some of my time, so.
B
Love it. Yeah, love it.
A
Kennedy, I think you should go next.
B
Oh, okay. I'll go next.
A
Only because mine's a good segue.
B
Oh, okay. Oh, okay. I will go next. I don't have much to update. I just finished the Sunday Garden by Ashley Poston, and we are doing a book club episode on three romance books. And that was the second one, I think it was. Your. Whose pick?
A
Your pick? Yes, it was your pick. I think so.
B
Because mine was the rival romance. Yeah. Romance revival. Yeah, that's it.
C
Mine was Our Perfect Storm.
B
Our Perfect Storm. So Kennedy's pick for our summer book club book was the Sunday Garden. I won't go into much because we're gonna have like a whole episode dedicated to it, but not quite sure what I'll rate it yet. I'll just say that. And I feel like there's very mixed reviews based on what I have, like, read from the reviews.
A
So do you want to where it's ranked in her books or do you want to keep that a secret? Not a secret, but share it later on the podcast episode.
B
I don't care. I would say it's probably lower.
A
Okay.
B
At least. I don't know.
A
I don't know.
B
It just. It definitely was not my favorite of hers, like, I think. But it's funny because someone in the review was like, I feel like I've found my love for her books, just like the Seven Year Slip. And I was like, I feel like I didn't feel anything similar to it. So maybe it was just a bad time that I read it. Maybe.
A
Did you read it or listen to it?
B
I listened to it, so.
A
Because that's what her fifth book, Seven Year Slip, Dead Romantics, sounds like. Love novel.
B
One novel.
A
Love story.
B
In that. Yeah.
A
Yeah.
B
I don't know where I would quite rank them. I might need to put some more thought into where I would rank them for our book club episode.
A
Yeah.
B
So to be determined with that. So it was cute. And summary. So I'll give you that. It was cute. If you're wanting a cute summary read. That's a great one. It's a great one.
A
Okay, I'm rereading Throat of Glass. That's it. I don't have to say anymore any more than that.
B
That's it.
A
I don't know if I'm going to just binge them. I don't know if I'll read one a month. I don't have any plans, but our patreon just picked that for me to listen to for a vlog I'm doing, and I'm having a ball. You know, I just love their dynamic. It's just. I don't have to get into too much detail. It's great.
B
I'm happy.
A
It's the first time I've enjoyed listening to something in a really long time, so.
C
Well, that's good. Like, that was needed for you with the reading slumps that you have been in.
A
I've been in a reading slump for,
B
like, four months, so it's rough.
A
But it's a really good segue because
B
our first section, our first section of Will they or won't they is SJM. So if you have not read SJM universe, maybe skip 20.
C
I can put in the show notes.
B
Yeah, we'll put in show notes where
C
you guys can skip ahead to if there's anything you want to skip.
B
Yeah.
C
For potential spoilers.
B
So pretty much, what will they or won't they do? We think these book couples would last stay together forever? We're getting a little controversial. And it's okay if you disagree. It's just hot takes because most of these books, they end up together. They're together. So this is just like, Are they endgame? Yeah.
C
Yeah. I will say. I will say this. I do like to believe that anytime I finish a book, they are together forever. I feel like in a rom com sometimes I'm like, okay, they're not going to stay together. But I always like to believe that they are end game. That's their soulmate, the end. This is especially in, like, fantasy books.
A
They've been through so much.
C
They've been through, like, if you can survive a war together, I think you can survive a lifetime together.
A
Yeah. But this is.
C
I forced myself to really think some people might not agree with what we say.
B
That's okay. This is like a what if in another world. Like, if, you know, this is all hypothetical.
A
So please don't get offended.
B
Yeah.
C
Hypothetical is basically our middle name.
A
Because believe me, there's one on this list that I'm gonna say no, and it physically pains me to do so.
B
I think I know which one it is.
A
I think so, too, actually. All right, let's get to it.
B
Now we're starting sjm.
C
Here we go.
B
The SJM universe. All right, first one, Aylin and Rowan.
A
Oh, they're endgame.
C
Endgame.
A
Absolutely no doubt in my mind. 100.
B
Yeah. Yep.
C
I think they're like, if I had to pick one couple from the entire SJM world to stay together forever, it would be Aylin and Rowan.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah. They're not. Nothing can falter them.
B
No. Not at all.
A
No one convinced me otherwise.
B
Yeah. No one could say otherwise. Okay. Wow. That was pretty unanimous. No disagreeing here. Reese and Feyre.
C
Yeah.
B
Yeah. Yes.
A
Yeah.
B
Besides that little. Little mishap, I will say I feel like the episode with caller daddy kind of made me change my perspective on the mishap. Yeah.
C
I also just feel like when faded mates are involved, I mean, how can
A
you say I'm taking faded mates out of it? I'm just, like, thinking, like, their personalities and just like them because it's not
C
fair they have a child.
A
Because faded mates, it's like, yeah, this is fated.
B
Mates out the window.
A
Okay.
C
Faded mates out the window. I would still say.
A
I would still say yes.
C
Yeah.
B
I would say yes.
A
Yeah.
C
I mean, chapter 54. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. How can you read that and not say end game?
B
Yeah.
C
Just saying.
B
Yeah.
C
Yeah.
B
Dorian and Manon, I don't think they stay together.
A
I know. I'm pleased. Don't hurt me. Don't hurt me.
B
It hurts. It hurts.
A
You guys want to. Here's what happened.
B
I don't think so.
A
I honestly ages.
B
She doesn't.
A
Well, not only that. I think they're just like. They burn so hot for each other. I think they would get bored of each other really quick. And also, I could see them being, like, swingers or a throuple or an open marriage. Yeah. I don't see them being endgame, unfortunately, because Dorian ends up with me.
C
Yep.
B
But that fan art, though, Plot twist.
A
Oh.
B
Really gets me.
A
I will say, I do think they're the hottest couple.
C
Yes.
A
But by far, they're not phantom hands.
B
They.
A
They're. But they're not. They're not.
B
Oh, yeah. Yeah.
C
Love them so much. Love them together.
A
I also, maybe you guys disagree with me. I also could see. I almost feel like Manon would be a little jaded with the world, and I don't think she would ever Want kids. But I could see Dorian eventually wanting kids. And so I feel like that would make them drift apart.
B
Yeah. I agree.
A
Me becoming philosophical with fictional characters.
C
No, no, actually, I. I think that's 100, right?
B
Yeah. Wow. That really hurt me.
A
Like, I'm in pain.
B
I love them, but guess what? We don't really. It's not real. We're just being hyped.
C
No, they're real. They're real to me.
B
No, they're real. Yes. What?
A
I mean, they're together.
C
Yes, they're together.
B
Yeah.
A
You know? Yeah.
B
Okay, this next one, Cassie and Nesta.
C
Yeah. You want to know what I do think?
A
They end up together. Only because. Yes. Because I don't think anyone could put up with Nesta the way that Cassian does. I feel like they fit so nicely together. And it's almost like that couple where Cassian's one of the few people that gets to see Nesta for who she really is. And Nessa will never give that up.
C
Yes. They've also gone through very hard things together. I feel like there's a lot of theories out there that they're not actually made it. Or he's like. You know what I'm saying? You know, like those theories out there.
B
Yeah.
C
I think especially since rereading Acotar. Yeah. I can't see either of them drifting apart from each other. But I wouldn't be mad if they did.
A
Why?
B
I'm gonna say no.
C
Really?
A
Why?
B
I think it's very similar to Dorian and Manon. They're so hot and cold. Like, they're hot with each other. And I feel like I. Yeah, they went through a lot, but so did they.
C
Yeah. I think. I just feel like they can.
B
And this is not an attack on Nesta's personality.
C
Oh, yeah.
A
Oh, yeah. Or like.
B
Because I know there's a lot of controversy behind, like, not liking Nesta, just more so. Like, I think also their physicality with each other is shown a lot. More than a lot. All the other characters. And sometimes that can be hard for me to be.
A
Like, they're more emotionally collected, connected them physically.
B
Yes.
A
Yeah, I see your reasoning.
C
No, I see your reasoning, too.
B
I also asked some friends, and that was the first characters that they said.
A
Really?
B
Was Cassie and Vanessa. Really?
C
See, the first time I finished Silver Flames, I was like, I don't know how I feel about them. I didn't really like them together.
B
Yeah.
C
When I reread it, I was like, oh, I get it.
B
Maybe it's a reread that's needed like that. That couple is a reread. Yeah.
C
I was very unsure, but I think
A
it would be, like, they would have to go to couples therapy. It would be, like, hard. But I do think they would probably end up together.
B
Yeah.
A
But also, your reasons for them not ending up together makes sense to me.
B
But, you know, you guys can fight me. And they're together for now.
A
Oh, well, I mean, there's still more books.
C
There's still. Yeah, there's still more books. Still more to come. They'll.
B
They'll be together. SJM likes happy endings. She likes happy stuff. So, anyways, next, Hunt and Bryce.
C
You know, he was literally made for her.
B
Oh. So, yeah, I need to go read.
C
I don't know how much I like them together.
B
I don't.
C
I just.
A
They're just. Yeah.
C
Couple in that.
B
You know who I is not on that list, but we'll add is Lydia.
C
Oh.
A
And rude. Oh, yeah. We'll do them after. We'll do them after that. After these guys, I feel like, okay, yeah, sure, he was made for her, but I do feel like this is kind of that relationship where they. They're together, and then I could see them breaking up and being really good friends.
B
Yeah, I see that. But I feel like you have to put aside the maid for sure. Because if we're not doing mates for sure, then, like, made for her. Yeah, more so just like them as a couple. You know what I'm saying?
A
I also just don't think I connect to them as much, so I don't have as much care if they start to stay together long term. And I just don't. I mean, at one point, everybody thought, like, Bryce and Azriel were supposed to be together. So how much do we really believe. Yeah, Hunt and her are supposed to be together. Everybody flips.
B
Which.
C
Yeah.
A
So I'm just saying I'm gonna go with no. But it would be very cordial and they would be friends.
B
Yeah. Or it could be really messy because I could see Bryce going either way.
A
You know what? That's so true. Anyways, she's a messy gal.
B
She likes things messy. Okay, we'll go to Lydia and Ruhn. Yeah. Yeah, I think they do.
A
They just give me AEN and Rowan vibes.
C
Yeah.
B
Yep.
A
I just think they match each other. Like, they meet each other.
B
Yeah.
A
At the level that they need to be met. And there's not a lot of people who can meet them on their level.
B
Well, I feel like there was this emotional mental connection before there was ever anything else. Yeah.
C
Yeah. I Remember, like, when reading those books, I remember rooting for them so much harder than anyone else in the entire.
B
Yep.
C
Series.
B
Yep. Yep.
C
Y. I just. I love them.
B
I love them. All right, last one for the sjm. Aden and Lysand. Not Lysander. That, too. Aden and Lysandra.
A
No.
B
No.
A
I feel like Lissandra's not about it.
B
Way too good for it.
A
100.
B
Way too good.
C
100. I do think Aden's a little bit misunderstood.
A
I do feel like Adian likes her more than she likes him.
B
Yeah.
A
And it's never gonna work out that way.
B
I, I, I'm not an Adian hater. She's definitely lower on my list of characters I like, but I just love Lissandra so much.
A
I think she's one of those characters that knows she. She can do better.
C
She said.
A
And so she's. She knows she's settling. So when someone comes along.
B
Yeah.
A
She'd be open to leaving.
B
Yeah.
A
And that's not a dis on Lissandra
C
because I also like her.
B
Yeah.
C
But I can see her, like, feeling bad.
A
Imagine if Lissandra and Dorian get together.
B
Oh.
C
Have little babies.
B
Oh. Oh. Plot twist. Yeah. Why didn't I ever think about that? Maybe because the circumstances were never.
C
Not really.
B
They were in the vicinity of each other.
A
We also didn't put Kale and Irene.
B
Yeah.
A
There's. I think they'd be together.
B
They'd be together no matter what.
C
Yeah, no doubt about that one.
B
Anyways, I was just trying to put something that we wouldn't think they would.
A
Yeah. No, they're not. They're not.
C
Yeah.
B
Because I didn't also put Lorcan in a lead.
A
There's so many.
B
Yeah, there's so many.
A
There's so many.
B
So many. Okay, does someone want to do the fantasy ones?
C
Sure. All right, now into just general fantasy.
A
Okay.
C
Now, if you haven't read a lot of fantasy, we're just going to give you a. A warning. So if you have read most of the fantasy books we've talked about on the podcast, I'd say you're pretty safe. But if we start. I don't know, what if.
A
What if we just say. We're gonna say the title of the book.
B
Yep.
A
And then if you haven't read it, skip forward 30 seconds. Skip forward a minute.
B
Yeah, yeah.
C
Because you won't really know. We won't be saying there.
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
C
Also their name at the beginning, and then. Yes. Okay, so from Shield of Sparrows. All right. Odessa and the Guardian Cap, the second book.
B
I don't know. Oh, that's a good point.
C
I wouldn't be surprised.
B
I mean, I think in the books, maybe, I don't know, like, are you
C
saying you think one of them's gonna, I don't know, die so they can't really be together?
B
I don't know. I just like, I feel the whole
C
I love you thing.
B
Yeah.
A
I feel like he's not being honest.
B
Yeah.
A
So I feel like.
C
And I'm hoping there's a reason why he can't be honest with her because it will affect her life or something.
B
Yeah.
C
But the vibes I'm getting right now just feel a little off. Off. And so therefore I don't really. I'm not really cheering them on all that much.
A
I'm gonna say no.
C
I'm gonna just say I of right now. No, I don't think so.
B
Yeah.
C
But will they probably end up together yet? Yeah.
A
I'm not saying. Yeah, I'm not saying I don't think they're gonna end up together.
C
But like, if they were in a real life take.
A
Yeah. Take everybody else who has a finished story.
B
Yeah.
A
I just, I don't believe. No.
B
Just no. Yeah. Well, moving on to next because I don't want to give away too much just in case, you know.
C
Yeah, yeah. Fourth wing, we've got the iconic Violet and Zaden.
A
My house, my chair, my woman.
C
You know, this is, this story is told. We got to keep this in mind. Recovered correspondence, like, this is.
A
I'm not theorizing their fate in the series though.
C
Yeah.
A
Saying like, in general, are they gonna be together? Like, would they.
C
I don't know. Honestly, like, I know they love each other so much and I mean, if you were still listening, I mean, Onyx Storm, it's just so interesting because we are getting like this villain arc.
B
I'm here for it. But will they be together? I don't know.
C
I don't know if they're gonna like stay together for forever. If I know Rebecca Yarros, I don't trust Rebecca.
A
I think it's a. She's a savage.
B
Yeah, I don't trust her.
C
She's a freaking savage.
A
If you want to read a series that the author is not scared to kill people.
C
What about the. Have you guys just seen the theories that it's going to be like a Star wars situation?
A
Oh, I mean, you gotta clue me in a little bit because I still haven't finished Star Wars.
B
Oh, don't clue her in.
C
I'm not calling you in.
B
Don't clue her in.
A
Which, like, are you talking, like, original Star wars or new Star Wars?
C
Original.
B
You'll find out eventually.
C
Yeah, I don't want to spoil anything for you.
B
You'll figure it out.
A
Are you talking about, like, how he's actually Darth Vader?
B
No.
A
Just tell me. I don't know when I'm ever gonna watch Star wars for real. Just tell me.
C
Like, with the whole. You're talking about the same thing I'm talking about with, like, Anakin and Padme.
A
Who the freak is Padme?
C
Yeah.
A
Wait, wait, wait. Hold on.
C
So you. Are you familiar with the Anakin villain arc?
B
Yes.
C
Yes. You know he's. You know he's Darth Vader.
A
Yes.
B
Yeah.
C
Yes. So he went from, like, being this great.
B
Yes.
A
When moved to the dark side.
B
Yeah.
A
But wait, is Padme the main girl?
B
Yeah.
A
Oh, yeah.
C
Yes.
B
Yeah.
C
They have children. Yeah, but she.
B
Oh, okay.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah.
C
So people are, like, theorizing.
A
Oh, I get it.
C
Oh, he's going full villain mode. No turning back from that. And it's gonna.
B
I don't know. I could see you.
C
He's gonna go all Anakin Skywalker.
A
Okay.
C
Series, which would be kind of sick
A
spoilers for Star Wars.
C
I don't know. I don't know. I don't have to include that.
A
No, I know you don't have to include that.
C
Anyways, I just don't trust Rebecca and. But if I had to just sit down. I don't know. I just feel like there's a lot of secret keeping and not a lot of honesty between the two. And I know sometimes it's like it's for your own safety. I'm trying to protect you. But they just don't feel very mature.
B
Yeah.
C
To me, as much as I love them together, I just don't feel like they are at the same level of maturity and they don't have that. The best communication skills.
B
They're very hot.
A
It's kind of like that first love, you know, that you have that you never forget and it teaches you a lot. And then you meet your, like, endgame person after.
B
I maybe would feel differently if I had read these very recently.
C
Yeah.
B
You know what I'm saying? But I bet some people are screaming into their cars right now.
C
I mean, do I want you?
A
I bet you 98 of people listening say, yes. They'd end up together.
B
Yeah.
C
Yeah. Oh, I want them to be end game.
B
Yeah.
C
But when I'm really thinking about it,
A
we're taking their personalities and the honesty and just like their Life circumstances.
B
And I just never have quite understood the like, not telling information to protect because I feel like it always, always does more harm than. Yeah.
C
But also, like, he can't even trust Violet. The reason he doesn't tell her anything is because she blabbers everything to her friend. So, like, I can see why he doesn't tell her things. But also I'm like, how do you have a lasting relationship if.
B
Yeah, you can't.
C
You can't like, trust your significant other. Like, she's gotta shut her mouth.
B
Yeah, that's just. She's a blabber male.
C
Yeah. I don't know.
B
Anyways, final answer. Maybe, potentially. I don't know.
C
We'll see. Next. I have not read these. All right, the Cruel Prince. I'll let you guys take it away. Cardan.
B
Cardan.
C
Cardan. Jude and Cardan.
A
Yeah, I think they match each other's energy pretty well.
B
Yeah, they're both a little freaky.
A
Yeah, they're both a little freaky.
B
Both a little rage.
A
Rage monsters.
B
Yeah.
C
Yeah.
B
I don't know.
A
But then bring each other down.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah. I think they stay together.
B
I think they do too.
C
All right, next one from Shatter Me. Juliet and Aaron Warner.
B
Yeah, that's it.
A
That's it. Discussion. If you read the book, you agree.
C
All right.
B
Is that being turned into a. Yeah,
C
I just got picked up.
A
I'm kind of excited about that.
B
I'm actually low key excited too.
C
Yeah, I'm excited. I haven't even read the books.
A
I think you just watch it.
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
C
All right. It will just be like a surprise for me.
A
It'll be fun.
C
All right. From Red Rising. Okay, now we have two Red Rising ones coming up. All right, so me, you might want to skip ahead a little bit more. Three minutes. Mustang and Darrow.
B
Hell yeah.
A
You guys want to my hot take? No, in real life, they would not be together.
B
Really?
A
Mustang would not put up with Darrow in real life. Imagine being married to Darrow.
C
Yeah, I would hate that. But like, I have to picture it in their world, not in like real life. I just think that.
B
Actually, I feel like they love you earlier.
A
No, like, but you have to take it into our real world because like, in any. You take any of these fantasy characters in their life, they're gonna stick together because of all the trauma they've been through. But like, take Mustangs personality traits and Darrow's personality traits. Like, I don't think Daryl could withstand being married to anyone because he is so difficult. He is like the most difficult Human on planet Earth. It would be exhausting to be married to him.
C
I think he just.
A
He is so selfish.
C
He cares more about.
A
I love him. I love him to death. But, like, imagine being married to him.
C
I just feel bad for most saying
A
all the time, and Mustang is just this. Like, there's. She would be the only person that could put up with him, but I just don't think they would actually work out.
C
Mm.
B
I'm still gonna say yes.
A
I love them with my whole heart and soul. They have some of the most. The best lines back and forth.
C
I will say I can see. Are you thinking? Yes, because they're both pretty, like, stubborn. That, like, I can't see them being, like.
B
No, I'm just thinking about their lines.
A
I know.
B
That's what I'm thinking about.
A
I just think about the. I'm only, what, three days away.
B
Yeah.
A
And my heart shattering into a million pieces. And just what he said. But then you. But then Daryl has these liners about Mustang, and it's like, yeah, maybe you're changing my mind.
B
I. Well, no, I. I agree, but with her, he's different.
C
Yes.
A
You guys are right.
C
He's soft for her.
B
Yes.
C
He's a really hard, difficult person.
B
I think they would actually vibe together if they didn't have the.
C
The conflict.
B
Yeah, you're right. Together.
A
Good point.
B
I think they actually would. He is a very selfish person, but I also think she would call him out. She's the most perfect person.
C
Also, think of how long they've been together.
A
Yeah. I love them so much.
B
I don't know. I just think I need Pierce. I need to reread that, so.
C
I know. I. I'm so excited to reread it, but I feel like I can't until there's a release date for.
A
Because I have to. I'm gonna have to read it.
B
I want to be so, so close, fresh in my brain.
A
Like, I'm literally gonna Come on, just.
B
Okay.
C
All right, one more from Red Rising. Victra and Severo.
A
Hell, yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
I just love.
C
They're perfect for each other. I just love that, Like, I just, you know, there's someone out there for everyone, you know? And Victra is that.
B
For some reason, I think she can do so much better as far as hygiene, but I love that for them.
C
Well, they're both just so badass, and I just feel like they complement each other very well.
B
Yeah. Yeah.
C
I remember, like, at first being like, what with them.
A
Like, what?
C
And then I was just, like, the more I was reading About. I was just like. That makes sense.
A
Yeah.
C
Makes sense.
B
Yeah.
C
They make sense. I love it.
B
Yeah.
C
There's a reason why they got four.
B
Moving on.
A
I won't cry.
C
All right.
B
Is it. That's in the fantasy.
C
Well, we.
A
Oh, no.
B
We got.
C
We got Harry Potter now. Oh, this is a pretty safe one. Ron and Hermione.
A
No, no, no.
B
I mean, I think Ron is too bland for Hermione, in my opinion. I think. Yeah.
A
She'd get bored.
B
I don't know.
C
I mean, I just don't love them together.
B
Yeah.
A
I feel like it's random.
B
I wish. This is a really hot take. I wish it was Harry and Hermione. I agree. Yeah.
C
I remember. Or what about Draco and Hermione? Yeah.
A
Okay.
B
And Game Draco was kind of off the table.
A
It's okay. I love it.
B
No, but, like, I was expecting it to be Hermione and.
A
Me, too. They have more chemistry.
B
Yeah.
A
I feel like she just kind of threw them together just to, like.
B
Yeah.
A
Have a little bit of romance in there.
B
Yeah, but then Ron would have no one that's okay with his sister.
A
He finds someone.
B
Yeah.
A
He could find someone else.
C
All right, Next one.
B
Okay.
C
Hunger Games.
B
She's been waiting.
C
There's only one. And there's only one correct answer for this. Katniss and Peeta.
A
No,
B
you guys. You guys gotta go back to the YouTube and watch Reggie's side eye at us.
A
When he said that, I knew.
C
You're kidding. No. They are so endgame. It's not even funny.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
C
Those two were, like, destined to be together.
B
Yeah.
C
But they also chose each other. Like, think about the fact that PETA literally fell in love with her twice, all over again.
A
I mean, for a while there, I was Team Gail. I'm not gonna lie. When I first read it. I'm gonna be honest. Okay.
C
Ali Hazelwood.
A
I'm gonna be honest.
B
I was Team Gail when I watched it.
A
Hey, for a second, I was Team Gail.
C
Just because you love Liam Hemsworth.
A
I do love Liam.
B
But then I was like, this hoe.
C
Yeah.
A
And I said, okay, PETA.
B
Yeah. Well, also, just Peter's a really short guy.
C
You can't think about the movies. Don't think about the movies. Think about their character in the. I mean, he's shorter in the book, probably. I don't know. I'm rereading it. I'll take note of how tall he is.
B
Movie is made to disassociate the actors from the.
C
But still, like, I love. Like, I love Josh Hutcherson.
B
Josh Hutchinson is great.
C
He is adorable. He's cutie patootie girl.
B
And when anyone's short is just, like immediately written off for me. Does that make sense? Yeah.
C
Peter Malark, though.
A
He.
C
He. Yes. He's like ultimate book boyfriend. Honestly, just golden retriever. So loyal.
B
Yeah.
C
Such sweetie pie. Can't get enough of that sweetie.
B
That guy. You know when you're really into a book and the last thing you want to do is stop and make food? That's been us a time or two.

Because every good reader deserves the best blanket. All right, Kennedy, take it away for the romance.
A
We got romance. Okay. It's every summer after.
B
Right?
A
That's the title of the book. Yeah, I get confused with the series name. Percy and Sam. No, absolutely not. In no way could you survive that.
B
So effing toxic.
A
I do not like them together. No, No.
C
I wasn't even rooting for them when I read them.
A
Me neither.
B
No, no, no. It's a no after watching the show. Absolutely. Hell no.
A
See, that's a problem. You get these characters in your brain now. There was zero chemistry between the actors, so now it's even worse.
B
Yeah, I'm sorry.
A
That was really mean. Play along, Right? Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
Isaiah and Kennedy.
B
Yes.
A
I love them.
C
They must. They must be together for forever.
B
Chemistry was just through.
A
So good. Emotionally and physically. Like, it was just all there.
B
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
A
The night we met by Abby Jimenez.
C
No.
A
Larissa and Chris. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
C
I didn't like them together. No, I liked him, but even then, I don't know, he was like a. I don't know.
A
I liked him. I just think Larissa was just. I did not like her.
B
Emotionally immature.
A
Yep.
B
In their 30s. 30. No. Sorry.
A
Nope. No. Our perfect storm. Frankie and George.
C
I don't know. I'm feeling pretty, like.
B
No.
C
Not hot nor cold about it. I feel like they know each other so well, and they are very.
B
I just have a problem with friends to lovers right now and the fact that, like, why did it take so long? Like, why does it take so long?
A
I just feel like I'm gonna say yes for the fact of, like, if they ever broke up, they would never speak again.
B
Yeah. Yeah.
A
And that kind of makes me a little sad, but I'm not very passionate about that.
B
I'm not as passionate about them as. Also, Frankie also came off very immature, in my opinion. Foreign.
A
I'm not obsessed with them as a couple.
B
No.
A
What I'm trying to say.
C
Yeah.
B
I like George way more.
A
Me too.
B
Sadly.
A
Into the Blue. Emma Brody, A.J. and Noah.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah.
C
Yeah.
A
That was an unsure. Yeah.
C
I was just thinking about our. Tick tock. I was just getting sad. Oh, that didn't work. Oh, sorry. I. Yeah, they were like. They're just each other's kryptonite.
B
Yeah.
C
And they.
A
If they would have any. If they would have married somebody else, they would have always made it back to each other. It just was like. It was inevitable.
B
Yeah.
C
And if. Yeah, they. They would have totally found their way back to each other or they would have just lived the rest of their life pretty unhappy, which is sad because
A
they knew they should have been top 10, top tier.
C
Yearning.
B
Yep. Yeah, Absolutely.
C
When there's yearning like that in a book, you can't. You can't deny.
B
Cannot deny.
C
Yeah.
A
In her own league. Liz. Tom Ford, Monty and Reese.
C
I'm going to say. Yeah. Just because they're middle or aged. Ish.
B
No.
C
A little older.
A
I'm going to say no as well. I feel like it would burn out. But I do think they would be emotionally mature enough to still be able to work together and have a, like, friendship and a relationship.
C
Hmm.
A
I Don't know why I'm feeling that way. That's just. I don't know. I just am.
B
I didn't love that book, to be honest. That's all right. I just don't like them.
C
Yeah. I don't like love. I love Monty. I don't know how much I, like, really love her. I mean, I love. She's really, like, badass.
B
Yeah.
C
I don't know.
B
I feel like circumstantial things. I just really had a hard time with, like, the workplace environment. Yeah. That's what I think I had a hard time with because I feel like I wanted her to be this badass character, but I felt like it kind of diminished her character because of the things that were happening on, like, the workplace. And I was like, I don't know.
A
She kept saying how much she valued her job and how she wanted to be this woman in this male dominated field, but then she would do things to counteract that. Yes, I get what you mean.
B
Yeah, that's fine. So, okay.
A
Magnolia Parks, BJ and Magnolia.
B
I'm so sorry. No, I.
A
This is. I feel like this is a really hard thing for me, like a hard one. To separate how the book actually ends
B
with how I actually feel.
C
Yeah. I'm gonna say. Yeah. Like, are they really toxic? Yeah. But I think with the way the book ends, I feel like it's solidified. I can't see. I mean, they would have to be in therapy a lot, and I think they'd have to work through a lot of stuff. But I feel like. I feel like there's. I don't know how to explain it.
A
It's similar, I feel like, to AJ and Noah, where it's almost like they're inevitable and they would always find their way back to each other, no matter who they were with. But it's at the same time, I'm taking out how the book ends out of my brain. Okay. Because we all know. Well, if you read it, you know how it ends. I'm taking that in my brain. If. If they weren't together, they'd be miserable. But also, if they were together, they'd be miserable.
B
Yeah.
A
Do you know what I mean? Like, take.
B
Say you hadn't read the last book
A
and you don't know that they go to therapy and you don't know that they've worked through all their problems.
C
I just, like, feel like you have
B
to consider the last book, but in that case. Well, I think they're the most toxic couple hundred percent. And if I'm saying No to others. I gotta say no to them. Touche.
A
Speaking of toxic, the favorites, Katarina and Heath.
C
Absolutely not.
A
No. If they didn't skate, they would have nothing in common.
B
Yeah.
A
Literally the only thing they have in common is skating.
B
Yeah.
C
He skated because he liked her. Yeah. And then.
B
Yeah.
C
Bit him in the butt.
B
Yeah. Yeah.
C
Love hypothesis.
A
Adam and Olive. I wish I could say I have a very passionate opinion about this, but it's been so long that I'm gonna say. Can't remember their personalities.
C
Is obsessed with her.
B
I want to say yes, too.
C
He is.
B
I'll say yes, too.
C
He is so obsessed with her. It's just like the hottest thing.
B
Was there like a third act breakup kind of thing? I'm trying to remember.
C
No.
A
Is it like the most common one with fake dating where they're like, oh, this is over. We don't have to fake date anymore?
C
Yeah.
A
You know, I don't remember.
C
There was, like, this other guy that was involved that was, like, trying to just.
B
He has zero red flags.
A
And you wonder what I also. What else. I have to say, I don't think we've. Maybe we have talked about it on the podcast. I know we've talked about this amongst ourselves. Their press and their interviews is how you do chemistry correctly while still being respectful to your partner.
B
Yeah.
A
They have so much chemistry, but you can tell that they are so in love with who they're dating, slash married to. That there's no shipping online.
B
Yeah, No, I don't think I've seen anyone, like, ship them, but they have such good chemistry.
A
You can just tell.
B
No, they. They work really well together and I love them. Yeah. I'm sure that Lily Reinhart has been burned. Oh, absolutely. By dating in the same work profession, you know, so she's probably like.
A
Did you guys see. Sorry, this is a little bit of a tangent. Did you guys see what her boyfriend had said her about her in the premiere?
B
Oh, I didn't see.
A
It's really sweet. You should go watch it. Okay. And then a reporter basically brings it up to Lily Reinhart in an interview.
B
Oh, cute.
A
It's really cute.
C
You should.
A
Okay, okay.
C
They're precious.
B
Precious.
A
Okay. The things we leave unfinished. Noah and Georgia.
B
I honestly do not remember their friends.
A
They're like childhood friends.
C
No, no, he's the one that's writing the book, finishing the.
B
Her grandma's book, remember?
A
Oh, I'm thinking of a totally different author. It's Rebecca Yaros.
C
Yeah, I put this one on there because I was trying to, like, think of ones that I. When I was scrolling through romance books that I didn't think would last, and for some reason, it was them.
A
So I don't remember much.
B
I don't remember much either.
C
We can. We don't have to include it.
B
No, we.
A
No, we should.
C
I. I just. I don't know.
A
Isn't dual timeline in this one?
C
Yeah.
A
Okay. It's coming back to me.
C
I mean, I thought it was a great book, but I think from all of Rebecca Yarros's romance books, they, to me, seem like, least likely to stay together.
B
Yeah. Yeah, I would agree with that.
A
Me too.
C
I just feel like they're not at the same level. I just don't remember, like, loving them together all that much. I feel like they had. They'd have, like, a nice little fling, and then it would be, like, nice Donja.
B
I don't know. Yeah, I agree with you. Yeah. No, I think I loved the book. But as far as Rebecca Yarros couples, I think there's a lot more above memorable. Yeah.
C
Even though I love that book.
A
No.
B
Yeah.
C
Loved it. I agree.
B
I agree. All right, we have.
A
We're moving on to Emily Henry couples now. Beach read. January and Gus.
B
I'm not gonna lie.
A
I don't remember. I don't remember this one either.
C
Emily Henry book.
A
People love this book, and they're so passionate about it, and I really loving it.
B
But I don't.
A
I just remember the. I'm overwhelmed watching you sleep or whatever exists. I'm gonna say yes.
C
Sure.
B
Yeah.
C
I mean, I feel like, from what I can remember, both very emotionally mature, I want to say. And they're both writers.
B
Yeah.
C
Like, I can just see them. They have a lot in common.
B
Yeah.
C
Very, like, just like, they're on the same level. I feel like they. From what they also can remember, they keep each other pretty grounded. Yeah. That's all I can remember. I'm gonna say yeah.
B
I'm gonna say yeah as well.
A
Me too. Poppy and Alex from people we meet on vacation.
C
I feel like they're kind of like, after all they went through, they. I would hope they're together for forever,
A
but also just, like, their personalities.
B
Yeah. In real life, I. I feel like I'm teetering on.
A
No, me too.
C
I just. I want them to be together because it's just such a. Yeah.
A
I love their story.
B
I do love their story.
A
I don't know.
C
I think they just have very polarizing personalities.
B
Yeah.
C
And sometimes that works hard, but I think that's what works for them. Like, she brings out the best in him.
B
Yeah, that's true.
C
And I think he brings out the best in her.
A
Okay, maybe I'll say yes.
B
But if there were ever to be a time when they're, like, they're not together, I wouldn't be like, oh, yeah. I wouldn't be surprised. Yeah.
C
I just can't see them moving on and, like. Moving on.
A
Yeah, I get you.
C
I can't see that.
B
Yeah. Yeah.
A
Daphne and Miles from Funny Story.
B
I won't lie. I don't remember them very much.
A
I'm gonna say yes, question mark.
C
I don't remember. Like, Funny Story is really blurry to me.
B
Me too.
A
Me too. But ironically, it's my favorite Emily Henry book because I just remember how I felt reading it.
C
Yeah.
A
Funny Story is, like, she's a librarian.
B
So blurry.
C
I can remember random little, like, remember the winery?
A
That's it.
C
The boat. They're on like a bow.
B
What?
C
They go boating and they go daddy issues.
B
Librarian.
A
I don't know.
C
I just don't. I don't know. I feel like I can't give, like, a solid answer.
A
That's why I said, yes, question mark.
C
So. But I feel like if.
A
I feel like I need to go.
B
Me too.
C
If they. If I. I don't know. I'd probably be saying yes if I felt.
A
I'll just say I feel like there's couples who would end up not together before them. Out of Emily Henry's couples.
B
Yeah.
A
Harriet and Win from Happy Place.
B
Sadly, I don't.
A
I don't think so. And that would destroy their friend group, which is so sad.
C
Yeah. I just feel like they had really poor communication, and it's like, I know that you can overcome communication skills, but I don't know. I love Happy Place, though. I hate the miscommunication trope, but I loved Happy Place.
B
Yeah.
C
And maybe feel differently if I were to reread it, but I just feel like they're both being kind of babies a little bit.
A
Yeah.
B
Wow. We are just, like, so mature.
A
So mature.
C
I just feel like I need to do, like, a reread of some of these.
B
Like, I think I do, too.
C
Romance books. I'll be doing them once we get the adaptations coming out a little soon. I don't know. I really don't.
A
I don't know. Because then I really. I don't like reading them when they're that close because.
C
Oh, I don't want to read them super close. Like, I thought of rereading Beach Read recently because people are just feeling so passionately about the adaptation and whatever. I'm like, I want to just have my own version of them in my head. But because I'm. The book's so fuzzy to me. I read it so long ago.
B
Yeah, but
C
in my head, I like to believe everyone is together forever.
B
Well, everyone is together forever.
A
And yes, in their book lives, everybody here is together and happy and they're never gonna break up. This is just a fun.
B
What if there's a few that we don't know? But true. But it's fun. This is all for fun, you guys. I'm sure you guys disagreed plenty. This was just a fun hypothetical situation. And I have seen this done on TikTok. I don't remember what couples I saw, but I just saw it'd be fun. We thought it would be fun to just, like, really deconstruct all of these couples and their personalities.
C
And we should probably just make it a thing. Whenever we finish a book and we talk about it on the podcast, to be like, okay, would these two actually stay together? Because then it's like, more fresh on our brains. Yeah, we could really dissect it.
A
Also, it's funny because I feel like we were way more passionate about our fantasy characters than we were romance. But in our defense, you get way longer with them and you understand them as characters way more. Yeah, Amen.
B
That's true. Yeah, that's true. Well, let us know in the comments which ones you guys agreed with, which ones you disagreed with. I am happy. I think we'd all be happy to
A
hear a good discussion.
B
Yeah, we love your discussions. I would love to know nicely. A nice little. Yeah, be nice about it, please.
A
Just kidding.
B
Anyways, leave. Leave in the comments. If you disagree, agree your little short reasoning. Why you guys, we. You might swear our minds. Change our minds. That's. If you guys haven't known after listening to this podcast, our minds get changed a lot. So if we probably were to play this in a few months, our answers could all be completely different. So true. Anyways, if you guys don't follow us on social media, it's at what she's reading pod on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, all socials. All the socials. And we also have a shop count called what she's reading Shop. Yep, you're right. Shop.
A
Yep, you're right.
B
Sorry, what? You're what? Well, what she's reading Shop. No.
C
Yeah. Yes.
B
Okay. Sorry. Guessing. Anyways, if you love book merch, like to be comfy, go check it out. We are obsessed with our merch. And don't worry, it doesn't just say, I'll read what she's reading on it.
C
It's like, yeah, Kennedy's sporting some right now, so it's Mihaila sport.
B
And entire wardrobe is just book merch. Book merch? Yeah, pretty much. Yeah. Anyways, we'll see you guys next week. You guys.
A
Bye.

Hosts: Reggie, Mikayla, Kennedy
In this lively and chaos-filled episode, the hosts dive deep into one of their favorite group chat debates gone public: which iconic book couples actually have what it takes to make it as endgame? Using the fan-favorite prompt "Will They or Won't They?", Reggie, Mikayla, and Kennedy hotly debate the plausibility of happily-ever-after for couples from fantasy and romance novels, including the SJM universe, Red Rising, Emily Henry's books, and more. Along the way, they share strong opinions, provoke friendly disagreements, and sprinkle in memorable hot takes and a lot of laughter.
