Hey, friend. And welcome to this week's episode of the Jabyn Chavez Leadership Podcast. I am praying that every week this podcast is a blessing to you, a blessing to your teams, a blessing to your organization, and just most importantly, is helping you. Because I believe that as you get better, organization gets better. As you get bigger on the inside, your organization will get bigger. As you grow, your organization will grow. And today I want to talk about leading your church into joyful generosity. Leading your church, Leading your organization into joyful generosity. I talked to so many pastors who really need more resource, but they're uncomfortable talking about money. They're struggling in their own personal lives with money. They're not good with money. Their church isn't good with money. They don't know how to talk about money. They don't know how to budget. I mean, there's just like so many issues and for so many pastors, they're just very uncomfortable even bringing up the subject. They never preach about it, they never teach about it. The offering has become, you know, kind of this 30 second appeal, you know, by the youth director, you know, hey, there's ways to give on the screen, you know, and they move on. And I just think that there is a better way. I think, like, like, I actually believe Acts 20, verse 35. I really believe this verse that it is more blessed to give than to receive. I actually believe that, like, for real. I believe that. I do. I believe Proverbs 11 that says that the generous soul will prosper. I believe the words of Jesus when he said, as you give, you will receive. As you give, it will be given back to you, pressed down, shaken together and running over. That as the apostle Paul said, that as we sow, we will reap. That if we sow sparingly, we'll reap sparingly. If we sow generously, we will reap generously. And that as we give. Second Corinthians, chapter 9. God will make all grace abound to us. I really believe this. I believe that as we tithe and bring offerings to the Lord, according to Malachi, chapter three. God will open up the windows of heaven and. Or out of blessing so great that we can't keep it all in. I believe Deuteronomy, chapter 8, that God will give us the ability to get wealth. He delights, the psalmist said, delights in the prosperity of his servant. Psalm 23. That. That. That I will have no needs, that God will take care of me. Third, John, that beloved, you would prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers. I mean, all this is in my spirit. I really believe in this. And I believe our church is best, and our church is blessed when they become generous. And so I want to just kind of maybe set you free a little bit and then maybe help you talk about it a little bit. So I want to just give you three little principles about leading your church into joyful generosity. The first is, you must be generous. You must be generous. The book of Genesis, chapter one says that everything is reproducing after its own kind friend. This starts with you leading the way in your generosity, in tithing, in giving offerings, in stretching your faith. You have to be a generous person. See, it will be much easier for you to talk about generosity on a weekend. Talk about generosity to your church if you're generous, because you can get up with boldness and with faith and go, hey, guys, we're calling you to give. We're calling you to help. We're calling you to serve. Why? Because you're already doing it. You're a servant. You're. You're generous. You're a giver. And it all starts with you. You must become a generous soul. Lead the way in generosity. My wife and I have given generously over the years since we planted this church, we have given over 30% of our income away every year to the Lord and to this church. I left Tithing man back in, like, 2013, as I went beyond the tithe and started giving more and more to the Lord. One year, God actually called us to give in a radically generous way. We actually gave over 70% of our income away. That was in 2023, generous. And I'm blessed because of it. And I'm happy because of it. I'm excited because of it. I love God because of it. And I can see on the outside what God has done because of my generosity. And I could feel what God has done on the inside because of my generosity. And here's what I'm saying. That's why I can boldly call our church to generosity. Why? Because I've seen it in my own life. Generosity starts with you. Number two. Your church must be generous. Your organization must be generous. We ask our church. Think about this. We ask our church to give 10% of their income. We ask them to plan and to prepare and to budget. So I hear so many pastors Talk about 10-10-80, right? 10-10-80. Hey, guys, you need to be doing 10-10-80 in your life. 10% to tithe, 10%. 10% to savings, live off 80%. And I know so many churches that don't do that. So the church must be generous. Your church should be giving away at least 10% of its income out to Missions, I'm telling you. And we have been a tithing ministry since day one. And I'll say this, during. Even during our building campaign, we never backed down on the tithe. You know, I had pastors tell me, hey, you don't have to give Missions giving missions dollars away while you're building the building. This is a different season. You can do that later. You could. You could pay it back later. I said, no, no, that's. That's not a step of faith. It's not a step of faith to now look back and give a tithe. We never stopped giving as a ministry. And I just think it would be terrible to stand in front of our church and say, you should give 10% of your income to this house. And then the church doesn't lead the way in missions giving. So we are helping churches. We are feeding the poor. We are digging wells in Africa. We are partnering with the Dream Center. On and on and on. I could go with all the different mission endeavors we do. Friend, you must be generous, and then your church must be generous. You have to build your church off of the same principles that you teach your church. And if you're teaching your church to tithe, then you need to tithe. If you're teaching your church 10-10-80, then your church should be operating on 10-10-80. And then here's the last part of this. You must be generous. Your church must be generous, and then learn to speak the language of the people, to inspire them to give. So I'm going to give you five, five little thoughts real quick. There's the gift of giving. There's mission endeavors. There's biblical command, there's needs known, and then there's special projects. All of those are different fingers on the hand of generosity. And they're all going to speak to different people. So. So here's what I mean by that Biblical command. There's going to be people in your church that all you have to do is literally Open up Malachi 3 or, you know, whatever text you want to and say, the Bible says to give, give. And they go, all right. You open up Hebrews 7 and say, Abraham, tithe, and you need a tithe. And they go, all right. You know, Jesus said tithe, Matthew 23, you need a tithe. And they go, okay. You give them a biblical command. And obviously everything should be based on Scripture. But. But I just want to say, for some people, it'll be that easy. They hear the Word, they love the Word, they honor the Word, and we. And we praise God for those people who love the Word. There's other people have the gift of giving. In Romans 12, they have the. Those who have the gift of giving give generously. You want to activate them to give. I met a woman this week who has been a part of our church for five years. I've never met her. She came up to me Sunday in tears, thanking us for ministry, thanking us for all that we're doing. And she said, I've been attending for five years. And she said, I've been giving for five years. I said. And then I said something dumb. I said, are you on a team? And she said, no, I'm so busy with work and all. And then I. And I caught myself and I said, no, no, no, no. You are on a team. You're on the team of giving. You. You are such an important part of this house. You. You serve this house by your gift of giving. And so we want to activate that gift. That's for that business guy that he doesn't have time to serve in the parking lot, doesn't have time to be a host, doesn't have time for small group. He's working 60, 70, 80 hours a week. He's grinding. But we give them a way to serve through the gift of giving. Obviously, you can learn more about this through legacy teams or kingdom builders or those kind of ministries, and they'll really help you with all of that. There is mission endeavors. There's people who are going to be stirred by mission giving. That if you give them a mission to reach the lost, to, you know, help in that third world country, to build houses, to dig wells, whatever. They are stirred by mission giving. That's another way to stir people. There's. There's some people who are stirred by needs. No, you just say, man, we need you, man. We have a specific need. It's. It's not a project we desire to do. It's a need. We. We have to get this done. And there's people who go, all right, you have a need, we're going to help. And then there is special projects. That's, hey, we want to. We want to build this playground or we want to install this baptistry, or like, like right now we have some special projects and we have some needs. We have a need to do our parking lot. That's a need. But then we have special projects like the baptistry that we're about to build or this covered patio, porch area that we're about to build. That's, that's, it's not a need, but it's a special project that we believe God's put on our heart to do. So I want you to just see there's these two things. So we have the gift of giving. We have mission endeavors. We have biblical command. We have needs know, we have special projects. The pastor as the leader, you have to communicate those things regularly because they're going to stir different people to give in different ways. So I'm such a Bible guy, all I need to know is the Lord said, give. I'm going to give. I ain't going to pray about it. I'm not going to think about it. I'm not going to fast about it. I'm going to give. But for other people, they need these other ways to give. And you're speaking language that can stir their heart to sow into a special thing. And so that's what Paul does in Second Corinthians. Well, First Corinthians 16, Second Corinthians 8 and 9, he's receiving a special offering for the church in Jerusalem. He's going to a wealthy church in Corinth to help a poor church and a persecuted church in Jerusalem. And he's saying, we, we need to help them. That was a, we could call that a missions endeavor. We could call that a need. We could even call that a special project. Those were those and any. And he even spoke to them on different things. And then maybe I could even say a sixth thing is you tell people they're going to be blessed for it, because Paul did. Paul said, we need to help the church in Corinth. And by the way, when you do it, you're going to reap. You're going to sow generously, but you're going to reap generously. And so then you attach that biblical promise and all of those things need to be communicated. And ultimately, ultimately, ultimately this is, and I, and I mean, what I'm about to say. This blesses the people. It's not just taking care of the needs of the church. It blesses the people. Philippians chapter 4. Paul says, not that I have a need, but, but so that something may be accredited to your account. Paul said, this is good for you. This is going to bless you. This is going to help you. Pastor, you are robbing your church from blessing when you do not lead them and push them and prod them into the generous life. They will miss out on steps of faith. They will miss out on hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit. They will miss out on miracles. They will miss out God opportunity. They will miss out on so much if you do not give them the opportunity to sow. And I want to encourage you to do it. I want to encourage you to take that pastor, take that step of faith, take the persecution, take the negative comments, take the people who say, oh man, you know, you're all about the money. I'm not saying make this all about the money. I'm saying don't rob the people of the opportunity to sow seed in into the kingdom of God. Well, I love you. I pray today was a blessing.
