It's not a competition against each other. It's a competition, I guess, against ourselves. And it's for how, you know, if you get injured, you have to leave.

If you quit, you can't take it. You can quit, whatever. Or they could tell you you need to leave.

Denise, why would you do this? I mean, I'm assuming it's a lot. It would have to be a lot of money.

Well, you know, they asked me a couple seasons and I said no because I just didn't think I could do it. And finally after several calls with the producers and she called me her Private Benjamin and she said, you know, this is more of a. It's more mental than physical, which I'm still sorry, but it's kind of bullshit. It's a lot of physical.

So I just thought it would be something different and I could challenge myself and do something completely out of my, you know, that I've never done before, out of my comfort zone.

[Denise Richards]

So it is, it looks like it's a five week series. The first episode, which is a two hour episode that premieres on Wednesday, January 8th, 8pm Eastern on Fox and then it streams the next day on Hulu. Now what the description is, you have to learn to survive using guerrilla warfare tactics and develop defense capabilities. Guided by ex special forces operatives, these 16 celebrities undergo challenges from the actual special for election process. What kind of. Oh, and it says yeah, no elimination rounds. Contestants stay on the show until they disobey orders, voluntarily quit or medically disqualified. That's insane. Did you train for this?

[Aaron Pfeiffer]

I had three weeks before I left and I worked out as hard as I could, but it. I don't care how hard you work out.

Cause you both are very fit. You both are very fit. You both work out a lot.

This is a different thing. Like even the first in the clip that you saw where I'm jumping on a helicopter, that's not normal.

No, I felt. Well, I jumped off a bridge too. And that's when I ruptured my implants off of that thing.

It was okay. While we're moving, when we say go, that's it. You have your, like, window of when to. And I was just.

I'm like, would you say you held your own? Did you say you could you. Did you keep up with the other 15 celebs?

[Aaron Pfeiffer]

No, because the backpack, they called it a Bergen, I think, but I always called it a Birkin. That's how I could remember it. It's pretty much almost as tall as me.

Are you camping?

[Aaron Pfeiffer]

We're in a.

It's definitely not glamping.

Yeah, it's not glamping. The area where we all slept in the same room. Well, it's not really a room, but a dirt floor and a cotton. We had one sleeping bag and one tiny little pillow. And then we had to carry our gear with us everywhere. We had to put the sleeping bag in the Birkin bag. Yeah, sorry, DS that. I'm calling it Birkin. And carry all our shit with us. And they also loaded it down with gravel and sand, so it's like hazing. It's. It's so heavy. I could barely carry this shit. And it's the same bag, I swear. And I worked out. I know three weeks wasn't a lot for really hitting it hard, but I don't care. I mean, the weight of it is so heavy. And it's the same for Cam Newton, who's a huge athlete, has the same bag. So he was lovely, though. When we would run, he would hold the bag up for me and to take the weight off to help you.

It was very sweet. Him and Golden Tate were awesome helping me. And Trista Sutter, she's on it, too. And.

Like, there's a shower. It's like an outhouse shower. But I had something in my contract that I got, and I don't know if the cast knows this. I got us a toilet.

Yeah. Because they have where you would have to go potty right next to someone. And that was a deal breaker for me doing the show. I said, there's no fucking way I'm gonna do that.

So they had a. They said, we approved of the toilet that is closed in. And I said, well, are you gonna show? Like, does someone give us a tour of this damn place when we get there? Like, she said, it's gonna be hidden. And I said, well, how am I gonna find the toilet? And she goes, you'll find it. Trust me. Well, Cam Newton found it. Cause he's so damn tall, he's like, hey, wait a second. What's over? This goes, there's a toilet in here that's private.

Because of you, Denise Richards, everyone had a toilet, otherwise there would have been no toilet.

[Aaron Pfeiffer]

Well, there was a bucket, like those things that. Like an outhouse where you could see everyone's feet, like, sitting on the toilet. So you could tell if someone's going, you know, 101 or 10 2. So is that what you call it on set? We. You know, to be polite when we're on set and filming, it's like, oh, I have to go do a 10 one. I mean, you don't say 10 two, but. We always say 10 one. But whatever.

But anyway, even if you go 10 two, you say 10 one. Are you writing this down? Shane? Is this on.

Is this on any set usually? I mean, for scripted. I always. That's what we're used to.

No, I watched the first season. They asked me to do season two. They sent me season one. I said, there's no effing way I'm doing this. So then they came around for season three and it took quite a few phone calls. So I thought, well, you know, it was a lot harder than I thought. I knew it was gonna be challenging, but not.

Did you wear any jewelry?

No.

One you're allowed to bring. There is a shower, but it's a stand up shower with barely any water. But at least they had something. Yeah, but it was just. You're so nervous to even take your time because they could call you at any minute and then, oh, you have to quickly get dressed.

Were you such a bitch the whole time? I would be miserable.

[Aaron Pfeiffer]

It was that I actually. It was fun talking to everyone in between. And I hope that for the show that they show a lot of that bonding. Yeah. Because we were such an eclectic group to put together, you know, so for all of us to be there together and get to know each other, that's the part that I really, really love.

Were you able to call Aaron?

[Aaron Pfeiffer]

No. We have to turn our phones in.

They were sequestered the whole time.

Yeah. And they hit us like, we didn't know who was on the show. We heard little rumors of who else was gonna be on. But when we got there, we got to London and then we went to Wales.

That's where you filmed.

We filmed in Wales. And we had to each be in a hotel room and we had basically a babysitter. We could not leave our room without getting permission because they didn't want the cast to see each other. So we all met while we were filming that first day.

After the first hour, after you saw the people quit, and people get hurt. Or sometimes they'll say that, you know, they're done.

As far as I know. And I was too scared to tell them because I felt like they would be. Like, they wouldn't give a shit. Like, get over it.

I wish that I was able, like, with the helicopter. I wish that I did better, but I'm proud of myself that I even landed on the damn thing. But I was so scared to go in the water.

Oh, not. Not very good. When they showed us where we were staying, they showed us we. Where we eat. And I almost asked the guy, but I. And that was the other thing too. I couldn't really be myself because I.

Well, just that they were gonna yell at me, but I was like, because you're a success. Craft services. There's no food out. There's no snacks or anything.

There'd be about three or four of us per vehicle. And so I think that's where you see the comedy part. But when we're doing shit, I don't think it's that funny. You can't really laugh or smile.

The one thing I would say they are very good about, making sure that we all have to see doctors before and after psychaval, both before and after making sure that we're okay. Cause it's a lot. And so then we go back to the hotel in Wales and then wait for them to clear us to. And then we go back to. I went back to London and he actually met me in London.

What was the first thing you had to eat when you got back to the hotel, when you were done?

And of course, we were getting him fixed, and it would just look weird if he got them removed. So we found out we could do a vasectomy.

So we. We chose that option. But he's got these bent little ears and he looked. I call him the devil Horn Cat Ball Sakian. So that. Just a nickname. That's how I came up with it.

His balls look like tiny little apricots. And I'm sorry. Cause he's hairless. But he's gonna be famous. I know he's gonna be famous after our show, but I didn't. We thought, oh, these could look like raisins after he gets fixed.

Right. And you want you prefer the apricots?

Well, I also. He's got no hair to hide it. We also found out it's healthier for the animals because they still keep their hormones without.

And we just had two of our dogs. The females. We did. We tied their tubes instead of having everything removed.
