She was. And I think her husband's out of town. And she's got the.

Yeah, she's got kids and the pets and the whole thing. And she was reluctant to leave. And I get it. I totally get it. Jameson is very fired up today. Very emotional, very wired. Did you evacuate last night?

[Carney]

I did evacuate last night. As I was leaving work yesterday. I was coming down the ramp and I was like, mom, I think I see a fire in the hills. And so then I got to my block and I turned north. The hills are north in la. I turned north and I was like, I got to go. And then it was like that classic movie scene. I like, ran into my apartment. I got a bag out. I'M throwing shit in a bag, and I'm like, stay calm.

[Eden Sassoon]

Yeah.

[Carney]

I was, like, talking to myself really hard. I could hear everyone in my apartment building just, like, running through the building door slamming. So I threw stuff in a bag and then went up on the roof. I posted this on my Instagram. I went up on the roof, and I saw it, and I realized I had a little bit more time, so I did a second edit of everything.

[Reza Farahan]

Oh, you did? You went back?

[Carney]

I did. I went back and I was like, okay. Really think what you need. I forgot, like, I had cash. Like, you know, those kind of things. So I went back, and then I got just some other things I wanted, so.

Excuse me. So you packed, and then you went up on the roof to see where the flames were, where the fire was.

[Carney]

How fast it was moving. Yes.

[Zach Noe Towers]

And then while you were on the.

Roof, you remembered things and you went back and edited and repacked. Okay. Did you ever, at any point in time? Cause this is what I would have done. Parked that Hyundai at Runyon. That's what I would have done.

You're like, why is he driving towards the hills?

[Jameson]

You don't have the Kia yet?

[Carney]

Not yet.

It's like my Verizon boat put a.

Brick on the gas pedal and just, like, send it. I don't know what happened. Progressive, the fires. No, I didn't. Let me tell you, that Hyundai saved me. Actually, it saved me. It got me. A friend of mine was very.

I doubt it could outrun the fire.

Well, I had a full tank of gas. A friend of mine opened her home in Larchmont. I stayed there until it was safe to come back. Later in the evening, I went back, but it was. It just creeped me out, and it was too smoky. So I spent the night with my boyfriend. Oh, your black boyfriend?

Yes.

And then went back home this morning, and it's still smoky, but I put on all the filters and everything. And so at what point.

You know, remember this was our fire marshal.

And so you have to understand, like, retired, in an event of a crisis, you want somebody that, you know, really can kind of keeps their cool. Keeps their cool. At what point did you call your mom crying?

Oh, in the car on the way out, I was like, I'm fine, Mom. Don't worry. I headed towards safety. I will tell you, I did panic. Yeah, I definitely panicked. However, when I went on the. You know, when you fly, and sometimes, like, I get a little scared, but when you're next to someone who's More scared than you. It almost makes. It makes me feel at ease. I went on the roof and my neighbors, they didn't know what the hell they were doing. And they're like, are you leaving? I was like, of course I'm leaving. And they're like, should we? I'm like, yes. And they're like, we're not ready. I'm like, then you need to pack a bag. They're like, we do. I'm like, yes. Get all your documents, get your papers, get your credit cards. I was like, you need to pack a bag and you need to put it at your front door. And you need to be ready to leave at any moment.

And they're like, did you sleep last night? What's.

[Carney]

I'm wired. I'm on empty YouTube.

Well, thank God I got the last suite at the Beverly Wilshire.

Thank God, because all the hotels are sold out.

I know. I don't know how I did it.

I love that hotel. I mean, it is. And by the way, these people, they have staffed up.

They are so organized.

It is a well oiled machine. I mean, people were just like flowing in that lobby with all their pets and their kids and their bags and their like groceries. These people, honestly, the Beverly. The Beverly Wilshire. Wilshire. Hotel staff should be organizing the evacuations. They are so them and Steve Gutenberg, who, by the way, I think should run for public office. And I would vote for him. I want him. Our next mayor, maybe our governor.

Well, I mean, we can't get any worse.

True. So I. I love Newsom. He's handsome.

So I'm not like, there's no drama here. We didn't evacuate. We just haven't had power in a day and a half. And I just thought, you know, I got to bathe my kid. I need to bathe. What am I going to do with her for five hours without television? And then how are we gonna eat?

So we just. Fortunately, it was only a nine minute drive.

What about the animals?

We got it to the hotel.

Toby went home with our nanny and slept in the bed with my nanny, her husband, and their two other dogs. So Toby's living. Toby is living his best life. The power has since gone on. So we're gonna go. We're gonna go. We're gonna check out of the hotel. Now, Monroe last night, she really loves the Beverly Wilshire, and she said she would like to live there. If our house burns down, she's gonna start that fire. But she's so cute. Like, I, you know, I got her dinner and a napkin and all. I'm like, do you have everything you need? I'm like, are you happy? She's like, I'm always happy when I'm with you.

And then I was waiting, like, what's she gonna ask for now?

At the Four Seasons, I've always happy.

But it was so. I mean, even with all of these, I mean, they were 100% capacity. They were still, like, knocking on the door and bringing us kid robes and teddy bears and chocolates, and I'm like, this is amazing.

In the middle of a. In the middle of a crisis, they're handing out chocolates and robes.

You're like, actually send my chocolate to a displaced person?

But he's done very well over at Lisa's. And. And she said that she was worried because she has this. She has an elderly.

Her elderly mother is there.

She said Toby was so sweet, so gentle with her. That's. I mean, he's a good dog. I mean, yes, he's a little hyper, but he's a good dog.

Now I did. I was thinking about this this morning. You know, we're. Fortunately, we're in the flats, so we're not in any danger of the hill, brush fires or anything like that. But you really do kind of have to thank James Jameson. I'm sure you. Well, you kind of didn't until the second time around.

You really do kind of have to think. If you have five minutes, what are you going to grab and tell me if I'm Missing anything. But I thought my wallet for sure. My checkbooks, passports, birth certificate, the cats, the dog, my kid, maybe a few clothes. But am I missing anything?

That was what I did. I bought. We packed bags.

[Jameson]

We have a box. I have a box of old photos. And I would for sure grab that because they're, you know, pre 9, like, 90s or older photos. I'm never gonna see those again.

All those do is just depress me when I look and see, like, how good I used to look. I'd honestly rather just put those in Jameson's Hyundai. At the base of running.

Well, I mean, they're over the counter, like Mylanta pills, but. Yeah, or Pepto pills, but, like, you have to think of things.

She wrote gone. I said, I'm so sorry. How did you find out? Video, question mark. Pics, question mark. She's like, jeff, I can't send video pics right now. Sorry. I'm like. I'm like, no, no, no, no, no. I'm like, to clarify, it was not asking for pics. I was curious if you saw pics to confirm. And I said, I understand. Let me know if you need anything. But I think she's. Oh.

So then I read it the way she heard it too.

Yeah, but it's the other one. It's the orange one that's quick. And he's the one that can fit into every little tiny place. That's the one that's the. What I worry about the most.

Luckily, I don't have as much money as you, so my house is a lot smaller than yours. Even if they do run and hide. I have not as much square footage to cover, so I could go and grab those.

Yeah, the new house, I'm never going to find them, literally. Which I had a showing there yesterday because an agent called me and said, hey, my client looked at a house one street over. It was too small for them. Are you interested in selling? I'm like, well, I'm not really planning on it, but you can look at it. But when I was walking through the house and I was. I did the tour, so I was.

It's very good. Hers are more detail oriented. I wanted to say orientated. Hers are, you know, she's more. She's long winded, so hers are slower.

And if we can't, well, I'm like, okay, well if you can't patch it, then let's just get a new tire. So I went and picked it up, 600 bucks. And then I had it for what, 24 hours of that? Yeah, I had it one night and then I came to Sirius and I had 50. My tire said 50 psi. When I left Sirius two hours later it said 37 psi. Then we went to lunch as you do when you're losing air in your tire. And then it was 34 psi. So I'm like, okay, we gotta take it to the dealer. So I dropped it off and then now I have no car again.
