There's a man sitting to my right right now that has cancer in his body. And he shows up to an MRI yesterday and is devastated by the mri. Not because it showed cancer, but because he was so expectant that the Lord would answer his prayer. And he didn't do it. Welcome to the Jesus People podcast, special edition road trip edition with my boy Dylan Mandel. Let's go.
B
Let's go.
A
This is. This is a cool trip we got going. We're going down the Highway 1, going down the coast of California. We're just kind of having a bro trip. Dylan's had some tough news the last couple weeks, and it's. It's. We know that God takes all things that were intended for evil and uses them for good. And so since it's been heavy, we're just gonna go. We're gonna go do some cliff jumping.
B
Let's go, let's go.
A
I'm gonna go. We're hanging with Bryce in la. Going to hang with Forest in San Diego. We're just gonna. We're gonna brew out, we're gonna grill some steaks for breakfast. We're gonna. I don't know, what else should we do? We got beef sticks, plenty of beef sticks. So he had his bag of creatine that looked like cocaine. But we're not doing drugs. We don't do drugs. But it's exciting, I think. You know, this is a. You and I have talked about this. This is a really unique window where God has given you a platform and you've beat cancer three times now, and this is just another way to testify, another hurdle to get over. And I don't know of anybody else on the planet other than you that has the ability to suffer well in front of millions and people like this. And so I want to hear from you, like what. What's been going through your head? I know people see on social media and they think of you just kind of as a superhero, but what's it been like for you, man?
B
It's been peaceful. You know, the Lord speaks to me so clearly when I'm not around a lot of other people and there's not a lot of noise. And when I'm back at school, I find myself getting just kind of caught up in routine, caught up in classes, caught up in with roommates, and so many social things going on that the voice of God, the volume gets turned down. And one of my biggest takeaways from cancer last year and coming home and cancer to this year and coming home is I just hear from God. And it's peaceful and it's quiet. Yeah. And he told me, he said, he said this year is mine. That's what he told me. This year. He said this year's mine.
A
Yeah.
B
And I'm not taking for granted just the special moments of intimacy with the Lord. It's the most beautiful thing that we have. And so I'm not, I'm not going to lose sight that yes, we have all these goals and yes, I want to go do these things and I want to go, you know, I want to go just be just a front runner for the faith. But God's telling me, hey, right now, like your most important thing is just going to be intimacy with me right now. And so I'm just, I'm, I'm embracing it. Embracing it all.
A
Yeah. I think that's what a lot of people don't see is they see the outward, you know, stages and they see the followers and they see, you know, the workout videos and they see like, you know, this, this external, outward facing ministry and they don't realize that the roots of that fruit are the hours spent just in silence with the Lord. And that's something you've inspired me. And I mean, I'll never forget when we, we went up to Seattle, me and Dylan, and we're just encouraging another young man who has cancer. Kiave Brown. Shout out to Kiave, my boy Kiave.
B
Shout out.
A
Just encouraging him and just spending some time with him. And then we're flying back down to San Francisco to go back to Dylan's house. And I was watching, I think I, I had a beer. Oh, I had a beer. Everyone judging me. I had a beer and I.
B
I.
A
Was watching like a dumb movie. I was watching like a dumb comedy movie. And I'll never forget. And I think I was eating chocolate. I was like eating chocolate, had a beer and was watching a comedy movie. And I look over to my left and Dylan's sitting on the airplane next to me. And your head was down and you could just see you were just in deep, fervent, like gut wrenching prayer, like just begging the Lord. And I knew what you were praying for. You were praying for Kiabe's healing and you were just begging, pleading with the Lord. And I'm sitting next to you, got my beer popped, got my chocolate out, watching a stupid movie. And there's nothing wrong with any of those things. None of those things are sinning of themselves. But you've been such an encouragement for me because there's been so many times where I'll see you in moments like that. And I'm like this superhero Persona of Dylan Mandel fighting cancer for the fourth time, has already crushed cancer three times. Dudes does these savage workouts. Gets up at 4am, you know, put weight on his back and ruck up a hill or, you know, like all of these things. Those are the least masculine things of Dylan Mandel. The most masculine thing of Dylan Mandel is sitting on an airplane at 10pm and you've had a hard day, a rough day. You just spent the whole day praying over a young man with cancer, encouraging the family, weeping with the family. And if anyone's entitled to do what I did, which was really just a numb out, it was you. And you didn't. You chose to plead with the Lord to go before the throne room of God and to just beg him for mercy. And I think that that is just such a hallmark of who Dylan Mandel is. That's just something that, you know, you're 21 years old, 22 now, 22 years old now. Like that's, that's so encouraging for me as a guy in my 30s, you know, with four kids and, you know, just in a different stage of life. But to see you, you know, just in this depth of intimacy with Jesus where there's no lights on, there's no cameras on, there's nothing but like, that's what I'm hearing you say. And what I've heard you say is like, that's the sweet spot. That's the sweet spot of the kingdom. It's just that communion with Jesus in the quiet places.
B
You know, I was on the phone with my brother like two hours ago, and we're just talking about exactly that, that I just, I don't care about anything else but making disciples and spending intimate time with the Lord. It's not about anything else. You know, the Lord's blessed me with a voice. Praise you. The Lord's blessed me with a platform. Praise you. Lord's blessed me with opportunities to pray for the sick. Praise your name, Lord. But the one we're just going to keep the main thing, the main thing. And the mission's not going to change no matter where the social media goes or where the ministry goes. It's just we're going to keep the main thing, the main thing, and that's advance the name of Jesus. And the advancement of the gospel starts in intimacy with the Lord by yourself. When the door is closed and the lights are off, you want to go make a big kingdom impact and pray for people and proclaim healing. Well, that starts when you're on your knees weeping when no one knows. I'm not the most extroverted person. I'm not someone who's seeking stages or microphones. My desire and my favorite place to be is to be alone in prayer and just receiving. It's a favorite part of the day. I love to work out, but I love to receive from God more. And, yeah, the beginning of Big Kingdom impact in the beginning of God's plan for your life starts in a surrendered prayer. It starts when you are in your room with the door closed and lights are off, and you're just saying, God, use me. Use me in your way, at your timing, not when I want things or how I want it to go, but use me for the entirety of your will. And your will includes timing. You know, I think timing has been such a topic of prayer for me because I'm just in desperate need of a miracle. I'm praying for a miracle so big right now. And I want the miracle right now. I do. I really do. And I want it to happen right this second. But I have to trust that miracles come on God's timing. And yesterday I was just in my quiet place with the Lord, just saying, God, give me more faith to be surrendered to your timing. I'm confident in your ability to perform miracles. I'm confident that you will perform a miracle. But I need to be more confident in trusting and surrendered in your timing. It's not on my timeline, not on my timeline at all. But it's so hard. It's one of the most difficult things in the Christian walk.
A
Can you just give people who maybe haven't been following you and don't know the backstory, give them just a kind of a snapshot of what you're facing and what you faced?
B
Yeah. So last year, I was diagnosed with cancer for the third time. Last year was round three of my life, and I was given a terminal diagnosis. It was the most crushing label you could ever put on a situation, and that's what it was. I was told, go on vacation, live out your days that we. There was nothing that could have been done. And I would go home last year, same situation I'm in now. And I would sit with the Lord day and night, crying out to him in desperation. And he would then fulfill the promise of a miracle in December, three months later, he showed, showed and displayed his righteousness in that hospital. I would go in for a scan, an mri, and it was gone. It was gone. Like God dissolves cancer for those who trust in him. God dissolves cancer to those who pray in boldness. God has the ability. God is more than able. And so this year, I would get rediagnosed for the fourth time about three weeks ago, actually. It's just so fresh in my life. But something that God really put on my heart right when I got diagnosed was don't forget what I've already done. Don't lose sight of the miracles that I'm able to do. It was such. It was everything I needed to hear right at that diagnosis. But then yesterday. Yesterday, we were just there yesterday. Today's Tuesday. Yesterday's Monday. We go in for scans, and we haven't gotten an official report by any means yet. But according to the technician, who, again, is not qualified to make a judgment, to make a decision, he alluded that there probably was disease still in the lungs. And I'm crushed. Yeah. And we were talking last night. I'm gonna say the same thing, is that having a disease in my body as cancer does not. It does not shake me or rattle me at all. It really doesn't. I'm so past that. But the reason my. My faith was so shaken was because of my confidence in his ability to do so.
A
Yeah. Yeah. To heal.
B
To heal. That I know he is more than able. I mean, I have my Bible right here, and I. I just want to get into, you know, one of the verses that I'm just holding so tightly right now. And it just says now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think according to the power at work within us, it's Ephesians 3, verse 20. And that's a verse that I'm just holding so tight. He is so able, and he's able to do far more abundantly than we could ever ask or think. And I'm just holding that truth so tightly right now.
A
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that's like when seeing the spot you were in yesterday, when hearing you now talk about how you weren't crushed because there's likely still cancer in your lungs, you're crushed because you've been praying for weeks, three weeks now, with unshakable faith that the cancer's gone. And so then to go and see it on a scan is this. This. This feeling of, like, why, Lord? Like, I've been praying with this faith. And not that you're questioning God's will, but you're. You're saying, I. I believe you are a good father who gives good gifts, and the Fact that you responded in that way is so inspiring to me. I'll never forget talking to, like the best, like really legit major league baseball players. And they would all say the same thing about their approach at the plate. They would say, you know, you have, like, at that level, when they're throwing 100 miles an hour and they're throwing curveballs and sliders that are like 90 miles an hour, you have to be so sure of what you're like. You have to, you have to focus on what pitch you think's coming and be so convinced that that pitch is coming, that if he throws you a different pitch, you're almost offended, you're almost confused. Like, wait, what happened? That wasn't supposed to happen. And that was like the common denominator between the guys who like, went really high in the major leagues. And what I heard in that is they had to believe in their own perceptions and they had to faith in their own perceptions and trust their own athletic abilities at a really high level. What you're saying is I trusted the Lord so much that the fact that the scan showed that there was some disease still in the body, what was almost like this, like you didn't know what to make of it, and it was crushing to you. And that to me is the picture of the centurion who, he says, my servant's laying home sick. And Jesus is like, well, where's your home? Let's go, let's go healing. And the centurion says, no, no, no, I'm not worthy to have you step foot under my roof. I'm a man who is in authority. I'm a high ranking Roman soldier. I, I understand what it's like to tell people to go and do something. And I have that authority over my soldiers under me. I know that you are the king of the universe and you have the authority to just say, go and it'll be done.
B
I know.
A
And what I'm hearing in you. And Jesus marveled. It's like one of the only times in the Bible where Jesus says, I'm amazed. It's one of two times. Jesus only says I'm amazed twice in the Bible. One time is with the centurion's faith. The second time is when he's walking through Samaria and he sees their lack of faith. So you can make out that Jesus is amazed by faith. And what I just want to encourage you right now is I think that Jesus in heaven is looking down right now, looking at that faith, going, Dylan, I'm amazed because your Posture there. You weren't crushed because you know you have cancer in your body that can kill you. What I hear you saying is, I'm beyond that. I have. I have so much faith that the Lord is going to do what I have asked him to do, that I have begged him in my prayers to do that. When I saw the cancer. When the tech saw the cancer on the scan, it was shocking because of where most people would be shocked if there wasn't cancer, if there was a miracle. You're expectant.
B
I'm expecting a miracle.
A
That is insane. Dude. Dude. But that.
B
That touches on this concept of the renewal of the mind. And that comes from Romans 12, verses 2. And it's this concept of you no longer think like you do. You no longer think like a human, but you actually put on the mind of Christ.
A
Amen.
B
And you start just assuming you no longer are thinking on medical terms, in worldly terms, but you're thinking on heavenly terms, and you're thinking with heavenly perspective and divine perspective. And, you know, I am not expecting cancer in the body. I'm expecting kingdom realities to occur, and I'm going to continue to do so. You know, one thing that I really felt in prayer yesterday after I came home from those scans and I. And I went before God and I said, give me more faith. Help me to understand. Give me more faith to comprehend. But he had to remind me first of all of his timing. He said, are you surrendered to my timing or your timing? And I was like, yeah, that's a hit for sure. And he checked me on that. But he also had to remind me that I'm no longer. My resources are not chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, but I now have the entirety of God's treasure box of kingdom resources available to me through all this, and I'm not going to lose sight of that. Yeah, I just kept hearing, don't forget whose child you are. Don't forget whose family you were adopted into. Don't forget the resources that you have available to you when you have the life of Christ flowing through you and you have the Holy Spirit to flow out of you. And, you know, scan shows. This scan shows that I'm not going to let a scan or an image on a computer screen change my faith and not let it stir my identity as a child of God. Amen. Amen. Yo, dude, the. I felt the enemy hit me so hard. And I'll tell you this. The technician. The technician brought me to the back room after the scan to show me. To show me. Never have. This has this ever happened. Usually you do the scan, there's somebody waiting for you to go in after you, to get you out, and you hear back about three to four days later. That's protocol. I finished the scan, and he says, come back here. I want to show you this. Never for a second was I expecting to see the imaging right then.
A
Yeah.
B
And I think the enemy. The enemy likes to catch people off guard.
A
Yeah.
B
And he caught me off guard for a second. And I think one of. One of the most common attacks of the enemy is on your identity in Christ. Right. First, first temptation that made Eve fall in the garden was an identity, identity temptation. He said, if you eat this, you'll be like God. Wow. But then the last. But then the last Adam. Hear this. The last Adam and Jesus, Satan was tempting, tempting him with an identity question. If you are the son of God, do this. Yeah.
A
Yeah.
B
And what the enemy hit me with yesterday was, was nothing different than that. And I'm sitting there and I. And I heard just the voice of the enemy say, are you really a child of God if there's still cancer in your body.
A
Dude.
B
And I felt that spiritual warfare, so hard. But I am. And I want to urge and stress on the importance of understanding the word of God. The reason I didn't, like, stumble off of that attack so hard was because I knew the word.
A
Yes.
B
And I knew the tactics and I knew how he might want to throw me off guard. And, and. But that was my experience.
A
I want to take a quick break, and I want to tell you about a ministry that my family personally supports. It's called Global Christian Relief. And you may not know this, but there are more persecuted Christians around the world than ever before. And Global Christian Relief sends medical aid. They send Bibles to persecuted countries that don't have access to them. They're providing shelter. They're taking care of the least of these in the name of Jesus. And if you want to support them, you can click the link in the show notes. You can read stories of what God's doing in the persecuted church. And know this. Jesus says that what you've done for the least of these, you've done for him. But also that when we love each other as a body of Christ, the rest of the world will see him. So go check it out. And that's how Jesus fought the first Adam didn't know how to fight back. He gave to the temptation the second Adam. Jesus, when Satan tempts him and he shows him the whole world. So again, how does Satan tempt He tempts with pride and identity. He attacks identity, and he tempts with pride. And he calls into question God's goodness. And so he got Adam to stumble, or Adam and Eve to stumble, because he said. Did God really say that? He just knows that you. You could be like him if you eat of this. He doesn't. He doesn't want the competition, you know, so just. Just eat the. Eat the fruit. And they ate the fruit. But then Jesus say, let's get like, this is so. This is why the enemy's so stupid. He tempts Jesus with what he already owned.
B
He tempted me.
A
He takes him to the high place and says, look at all the cities. You can have all this. If you just bow down to me, I'll. I'll give you everything. And Jesus did what Adam and Eve didn't do, which is he fought back with our only offensive weapon, which is the sword of the Word of God. And Satan used the scripture. He quotes a verse from the Old Testament where he says, he will command his angels concerning you, that if you throw yourself off the sledge, the angels will come and they'll save you, lest you strike your foot against the stone. So he's going to protect you. He misquotes scripture. So that's why it's so important to know the word of God, because you have wolves in sheep clothing that will use the scripture. Satan used the scripture. But what did Jesus do? He fought back with scripture. He says, it shall be written, you shall not put the Lord your God to the test. And then he says, depart from me, Satan, and he leaves. So the last thing Jesus does is he fights back with authority, which is what I'm hearing from you. You're like, no, no, no, going on the offensive with this thing. I'm not gonna let this cancer, you know, run me over. I'm not gonna wallow in this, that there's sickness in my body. Like, I'm going on the offensive and believing in faith that God is faithful and just to heal me and he loves me. And if he gives, you know, if he takes care of the birds, he'll take care of me, you know, and that's. That's why your faith has inspired me so much, is because it's not like you're talking about the fact that, like, this is what's so mind blowing right now. We're talking about this stuff. Like, it. And you use this. This language that's so, like, intense and so powerful. And I think it's so tempting to not realize the reality of the situation right now, which is it's not like you've recovered from cancer. You have cancer, like, and you're still saying it. That's what I. I haven't been able to shake. I was telling my wife that the other day. I'm like. Like, Dylan's the real deal. Because you can tell what someone's character is like when they're in the struggle, when they're. When they're in the fire, when they're in the trial. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego could add a, you know, talk, a big talk until they're standing right in front of the furnace. You're in the furnace, bro, and you're choosing to believe that there's another in fire with you. And that's what fires me on about where you're at right now.
B
Amen. Amen. Yeah, I think you made a good point about authority. Like, that's something that the enemy again hates when. When children of God actually understand the word, the enemy wants church congregations to only hear scripture Sunday, Sunday, Sunday, and never read it Monday through Saturday. And because he doesn't, he doesn't want to give up the power he has over you. And that the power we have over him is. Understand that we actually do have authority over him. The power comes when we believe and cooperate with his lies. And he's. The reason that Satan became powerful in got dominion over this world was not because he was granted authority, was because Eve actually gave him the authority by agreeing with going against God. Dude, you should. There's a psalm. I think it's Psalm. Oh, dude, come on. Holy Spirit, give me this. Give me a word here. Psalm 115. I had it bookmarked. It said, the heavens are the Lord's heavens, but the earth, earth he has given to the children of man, the earth is actually ours.
A
Yes.
B
And he gave us authority over this earth. And the only reason that we think that the enemy has authority over this earth is because God's creation is actually just willingly giving him the authority by agreeing to the lie and therefore disobeying God.
A
Yes.
B
And Jesus, who is fully man, restricting himself, came down to retake the authority back from Satan that Eve gave him.
A
Amen.
B
Amen.
A
And the Bible says the kingdom of God is advancing forcefully and forceful men. Take it. So the invitation to the Christian is to reclaim your authority that was stolen in the garden.
B
Yeah. If you look at like Matthew, Matthew 28, 1918, 1920. The Great Commission. Right. When he says, go, therefore make all disciples, he starts that by saying, all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Yeah, he's like, I just reclaimed all of the authority that was lost and that was taken away from us. But I'm giving the authority back to you now. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations. The authority that he got, he even would prophesy that. I'm pretty sure I'm nerding out about this word right now. But in Matthew 16, Jesus would prophesy that he would take the authority back on the cross. He said to Peter, I will give you the keys to. Of the kingdom of heaven. As when I go to the cross, I will. I will kill death and defeat death and defeat Satan when I rise again, and I'll give you the authority back. And. And so, look, there. There's disease in my body. But we're on the offense here.
A
Let's go.
B
We're on the offense. We got the sword of the spirit.
A
You know, yes, fire me up.
B
But, dude.
A
And I think so many people, they need to hear your example, because the people listening might be like, well, I don't have cancer, you know, but I still have intrusive thoughts. And it's like, well, okay, go on the offensive. If you're just saying, I'm just an anxious person, I guess I'll never get married. If you keep saying these things, then guess what? Our words have power. And you're not operating according to the kingdom of God, which says that the kingdom of God is taken by forceful men and. And it's advancing forcefully. And so what do you do? You go on the offensive against the enemy. You believe the gospel, that it is finished, and he's given you the keys to the kingdom. And so you walk with a holy swagger saying, the Lord of the universe is in my corner, who can be against me? And I think it breaks God's heart when we start speaking things over ourselves that aren't true, when we start saying things about ourself that maybe others have spoken over us, maybe our parents spoke over us, maybe we've developed this pattern of just ruminating on these negative thoughts or these negative labels that we slap on ourselves. And if they get anything from this podcast, I want them to hear that there's a man sitting to my right right now that has cancer in his body, and he shows up to an MRI yesterday and is devastated by the mri, not because it showed cancer, but because he was so expectant that the Lord would answer his prayer, and he didn't do it yet. That's the kind of faith of the centurion, where God's like, I'm amazed by that faith. And that's why I think you're going to get fully healed very, very soon, and it's not coming back ever again. And God's got a lifetime of ministry.
B
Ahead of you, and it's going to come exactly when God wants it to happen.
A
Yes. Yeah.
B
Yesterday was such a massive check for me because it was just God saying, hey, hey, hey, look, things are gonna move on my timing and not yours. Just strengthen and heighten your faith to be more attuned to that reality. You know, it's like I'm in the passenger seat of the car thinking that I'm driving it, and God's like, pump the brakes, pal. Like, I'm the one driving the car. We're gonna get there when we get there. But all you need to know and have confidence in is that you're actually in the car with me.
A
Amen.
B
You know that we're driving towards a miracle God's gonna control when we get there. But let's just rejoice and celebrate that we're just actually in the car with God on the way to a miracle.
A
Amen.
B
And that's the truth.
A
Amen. And I think a lot of people don't realize that, like, you are not a body and a brain. You are a soul. And your soul can command your brain to come into alignment with the kingdom of God. And with faith, it's like the woman. I'm sorry, the man who says, lord, I believe, help my unbelief. Like, we can acknowledge at the same time that there's unbelief in us, that we have moments of fear, that we have moments of doubt, and then still command ourselves back into agreement with the truth of the kingdom, which is that we have authority, that he's our Father. And a good father gives good gifts to his children. And command ourselves back there through our speech, through our thoughts, through who we hang out with, through all of it. Through all of it. We are called as Christians to be not of this world, in a world that's spinning out of because of fear right now, because of uncertainty right now. And I think the Lord has chosen you to have this season of ambiguity. And maybe he hasn't fully healed you yet because the assignment right now is to show faith in the middle of uncertainty. Certain. That's what I think. I think that's why he hasn't fully healed you yet is because he's got more for you. It's like, all right, Dylan, I'm going to remove this thorn for you from you, but not yet, because there's so many people listening out there right now that maybe would skip past someone who is talking about having faith when they've already been healed from the cancer. You've got the cancer now, and you're still standing on faith. It's a different. A different animal altogether. So let's pray. Why don't we just pray? You want to. You want to just pray for people out there that are wrestling with faith, that are struggling to give Jesus everything? And as you're listening to this, guys, I. I want you to believe in faith because the scriptures tell us that when we're unified in our faith, when two or more agree on something, it happens. And that's not a prosperity gospel thing. What that is is that is a kingdom thing where God desires unity and he desires big faith, and he moves the reality of our circumstances, and he moves people's hearts because of that faith. So, Dylan, why don't you just. Let's just spend some time in prayer.
B
Maybe I'll.
A
I'll start us, and then if you want to close us. Yeah, Jesus, we just trust you. We love you. Your ways are so much higher than our ways. Lord, would you forgive us for the times where we forget? Would we set up guideposts to put up road signs like it says in your scriptures, to remember your faithfulness? Where the Israelites would name mountains the Lord provided, and so that every time they'd walk past that mountain, they would remember your provision. Lord, I pray that you would bring us back to moments where you've done it before and you'll do it again. I pray you even bring the person listening to this podcast right now back to moments maybe where you first encountered them or where you worked a miracle in their life. And Jesus, would you. Would you maybe take that little flame of faith in their hearts and would you use Dylan's story and Dylan's faith to just pour gasoline on it? And would that fire just spread to their loved ones, into their friends, into their family, into the people at their work? I just pray that you would raise up a generation of people who have the fear of the Lord, not the fear of man, so that they could go into their workplaces and they go into their schools, and they could not put the lamp under a basket, but they could let their light shine for all to see that they may give glory to you, Lord, because you are so worthy. And I believe in full faith that you're going to heal my brother. In Christ and Lord, we just proclaim together that your timing is perfect. We ask for all disease to leave these lungs in Jesus name. And we trust you that you will do that in faith, in your perfect timing so that you could bring about the salvation of hundreds of thousands of souls, Lord.
B
Amen. Thank you, Ry.
A
Yeah. Got it, bro.
B
Anything else, man? Beautiful. Yeah. I think the last point is just God is perfect through and through. Nowhere does it say that he's not perfect and he's not going to break his perfection streak right now.
A
Yeah.
B
And so we're just gonna take a lot of rest in his perfection.
A
Yeah, dude. Let him fight for us. Yeah. Yeah. I love that scripture. Like, the Lord, your God will fight for you, and you only need to just be quiet. I think so often people, they. They strive to enter the kingdom of God, and they strive and they scrape and they claw and they're like, ah, I need to do more. I need to do more. I need to do more. And the Lord is like, hey, why don't you just let me fight your battles? And why don't you just kind of like, sit down and. Doesn't mean that we don't advance the kingdom forcefully. Doesn't mean that we don't go on mission. But I think sometimes we need to. If we're feeling a block in our ministry or in our calling, I think sometimes the best place to go is just to the quiet place, you know?
B
Yeah.
A
Shut your door and commune with the Lord before you communicate. Commune with the Lord before you create, before you build, before you set out on your mission. And I think that's the most strategic thing that could build the mission. But I think. I think that it's also the biggest gift. It's also like, the biggest gift of walking in the kingdom of God is. Is not the fruit that comes from being with Jesus. It's just Jesus. Like, that's the biggest gift. And he gives us his presence. He gives us his word. He's already spoken to us, you know?
B
So good. Yeah, so good.
A

Jesus People Podcast Episode 40 Summary: “He’s About to Fight Cancer Again: The Road Before Surgery with Dylan Mandel”
Release Date: October 13, 2025
Host: Ryan Miller
Guest: Dylan Mandel
In this special “road trip” edition of the Jesus People Podcast, Ryan Miller is joined by close friend and recurring guest Dylan Mandel, who is facing his fourth cancer diagnosis at just 22 years old. Recorded during a cathartic journey down California’s Highway 1, this candid and faith-filled conversation dives deep into Dylan’s real-time experience grappling with devastating medical news, unshakable faith, spiritual warfare, and what it means to truly “suffer well” with Jesus at the center. The episode is a raw, inspiring look at finding intimacy with God in life’s hardest moments.
This episode is a striking testament to raw faith lived in real time. Dylan models extraordinary vulnerability in sharing how even deeply rooted faith is tested not by suffering itself, but by the tension between expectancy and God’s timing. The hosts encourage listeners to pursue intimacy with God above all, to wield spiritual authority boldly, and to let their identity as children of God anchor them in the fiercest storms.
