Kenneth Copeland
There's enough power in every sick room and in every hospital room to raise up that sick one that may be describing you. You may be in a sick room, you may be in a hospital room. And I want to remind you, power is present. That power is there to do a work, believe in what's not. Try to get something, but notice that he's already made it yours. It's present right where you're at. Say, I receive that power. I receive that power. I receive it right now. I receive it right now. From the top of my head. From the top of my head. The soles of my feet. The soles of my feet. We're so glad you're joining us today for Jesus the healer. For the past episodes, we've been teaching on the mind. And I'm so glad that we're renewing our minds to what God says of what to do with minds. And we've been using our golden text as second Timothy, chapter one and verse seven. Timothy was. Paul was writing to Timothy and he said, for God has not given us the spirit of fear. Aren't you glad to know not only what God has given us, but what he has not given us? And Paul told Timothy, God has not given us the spirit of fear. Well, if God hasn't given it, we have no business with it, right? So God has not given us the spirit of fear. So fear is a spirit. It's not just a feeling, it's not just an emotion. Now fear will produce a feeling, fear will produce an emotion. But fear is a spirit. And we have authority over spirits.

So God's not given us a spirit of fear, but a power. We could say this of authority. And God has given us the spirit of love. And what's the word say that perfect love casts out fear. And then God has also given us a sound mind. To know that for the rest of your life, God has only authored one kind of mind for you, and that's the sound mind. The amplified translation of that verse tells us and describes in more detail what is contained in the sound mind. And the amplified translation says of a calm, well balanced mind, discipline and self control. So notice this. That's the kind of mind God authored for you. You need to decide that's the only kind of mind I'm gonna permit. Any kind of other flow, I'm not gonna put up with it. And so we have the authority to say no to the wrong kind of thinking.
Audience
Amen.
Kenneth Copeland
How Many fear thoughts are not a sound mind. Thinking worried thoughts are not the thoughts of a sound mind. Doubting thoughts are not the thoughts of a sound mind. Panicked thoughts, anxiety, these are not the flows of a sound mind. So now we know. Anytime those try to come that we know, we don't accept them. Many times people think that because they feel it that it has to keep operating. I don't care what you feel. You can't stop the devil from suggesting a thought or threatening you with a thought. But you can decide, I'm not having that. And when you decide it, you better say it. You better talk to those thoughts that try to bring you into unsoundness. Because God authored a sound mind for us. Because that's the kind of mind that cooperates with Him. An unsound mind won't cooperate with God. Why? Because an unsound mind will accept wrong thinking. Brother Copeland makes a statement and he'll ask us a question. When we're as a congregation, he would say to us, why do bad things happen to good people? And then he would answer it for us. Because good people make wrong decisions. Why are wrong decisions made? Because wrong thinking. So when we renew our minds, we come into right thinking. To renew your mind means to take on the thoughts of God and think like him. That if a thought is not in agreement with his word, we resist it, we reject it. Not only that, we refuse to entertain it, we refuse to turn it over and over in our thought life. And so, so many times people will say, my life is just full of crisis, full of tragedy. That can change. I said, that can change, you know, as we gain skill in the Word, gain skill with our victory, gain skill with our faith in the Word. It will absolutely give you a life of heaven on earth. And that's what God intends for us to live. I was sitting on a commercial flight years ago, and it was. I was going all the way across the country. And so it was about a four hour flight. And I had somebody in the seat behind me was a real conversationalist. I didn't know him. And they spent the entire four hours, they were talking loud enough to where you couldn't help but hear. You didn't have to eavesdrop. It was just right there. And they were talking. I don't know if the person they were talking to was a stranger to them or a friend to them. I couldn't tell. But they started with one crisis after another. And for the entire four hours they talked about the tragedy, the heartbreak, the crisis, the premature deaths. The accidents, the. The. The. The. The son that was in a coma for two years. I mean, just one tragedy, one heartbreaking story after another. And as I sat there and couldn't help but overhear what was being said behind me, you realize how strong the keeping power of God is, that our lives are kept. The Bible says we are kept by the power of God. That's what Peter wrote. We are kept by the power of God through faith. So when your faith is functioning and when you use your faith and exercise your faith, it gives God's God's power permission to keep you. And I realized by listening to this woman tell her story, I was realizing all God had kept me from, all God had kept my family from. And I tell you what. When you see that God has authored a sound mind, he's keeping you from things. When you renew your mind with the Word of God, taking on his way of thinking, replacing human natural thoughts with God thoughts, replacing the reasonings of the mind with what God says. When you do that, he is keeping your mind. He's restoring your soul. Remember, that's what David wrote in Psalms, chapter 23, verse 1. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside. Look steadily still waters. Not turbulent waters, not flooding waters, not waters that overturn the vessel of my life, but still waters. And the next phrase. He restores my soul. He restores my soul. As I use my faith, as I feed on His Word, as I renew my mind, he's able to restore right thinking. That's what the restoring of the soul is. He restores us into right thinking. What is right thinking? God thoughts. He brings us back into the flow of his thinking. That's the restoring of the soul. And as we feed on the Word and as we become doers of that Word, then we cooperate with that restoration process. And as I sat and listened to this, the sad story of this woman's life, and it was a testimony to me of all God has done to keep me, to keep my family. And I tell you what, our family is living days of heaven on earth. And that came because the Word is finding its place in our everyday life.

Turn with me, if you would. If you have your Bible, we'd love for you to turn there to three John in chapter one. Three John, chapter one. And we're going to start reading. In verse two, John writes. And he makes this statement. He said, I wish above all things. This is the King James. I wish above all things. Now, one Translation says, I pray above all things. But what we see in this is there's a desire. I wish, I desire. How many of you know that men of old wrote as they were moved upon by the Holy Ghost? So when John says, I wish or I desire above all things, that wasn't just a man. That was what the Holy Ghost was expressing through a man. God's desire for us above all things is that we prosper. Look at that verse again. I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health. That's God's desire for us, that we prosper and be in health. And then look at the next phrase, even as thy soul prospers. Now let's read that verse altogether. Look at it all at once. I wish above all things, Thou mayest prosper and be in health even as or to the degree that your soul prospers. Many times Christians are endeavoring to move into greater prosperity, move into greater health. But they're trying to do it apart from their soul prospering. They're trying to go out and earn more money. They're trying to sow more seed. And it's right to sow more seed. It's right to sow seed. But I'll tell you this sowing seed, but your soul not prospering is still not going to bring you in the prosperity that belongs to you financially. Because your prosperity and your health is connected to your soul prospering. What is that? The renewing of the mind. That's what it's referring to. That the more you renew your mind with the Word, the greater the degree of God. The prosperity of God can operate and flow. Now, see, that's why Christians don't come into full prosperity overnight. Because the renewing of the mind doesn't happen overnight. You know, when you got saved the day you. The next day after you woke up in the morning, God didn't have $10 million sitting in your mailbox waiting for you. You didn't come into full prosperity. Because we prosper to the measure or degree that our soul prospers. And so as we renew our minds, we cooperate with God further. You see, as we renew our minds, he can get our cooperation, and he needs our cooperation so we can receive the full prosperity that he's provided for us.
Audience
Amen.
Kenneth Copeland
God is not just interested in financial prosperity. Listen, he is. He wants us to financially prosper. But God's building a man. He's building our lives. He's building us from the inside out. And the way he builds us from the inside out is we feed on his Word. The Word is food for our spirit. It's spirit food, but also our minds need the Word. He's building us from the inside out. And that's what this verse shows us, that prosperity and health will show up based on what's happening to the insides. So many people will seek prosperity and they'll seek health. But if you'll seek to renew your mind, come into right thinking, then then God can work and flow unhindered in your prosperity and in your health. Does that make sense to you? And so many times people have it backwards when something come to church and they might say, pastor, would you pray for my healing? What they also need to say, would you teach me the Word? Sometimes they're asking for prayer when they really need to be asking be taught the Word. Why? Because through the teaching of the Word, they had the potential to have their minds renewed. Now, your mind isn't renewed just because you heard the Word preached. That doesn't. Hearing the Word doesn't equal the renewing of the mind. But that's part of the process of renewing your mind. The mind isn't renewed until you're doing that Word. The renewed mind is a doer of the Word. When you find someone who's not doing the Word, their mind's not renewed. That's problem. That's the problem. And so many times people are asking, pastor, would you pray for my prosperity? I'm believing God for this when they really sometimes need to be saying, teach me the Word.
Audience
Amen.
Kenneth Copeland
Why? Because even as your soul prospers, even as your thinking comes in line with the Word, even as you come into right thinking, then prosperity can flow unhindered, healing can flow unhindered. When we think right, but when we reason against the Word, when we reason according to natural circumstances, we hinder the flow of prosperity and we hinder the flow of health and healing power in our lives. Well, praise the Lord. You know, whether we know it or not, we're our biggest hindrance. We would love to say that the devil is our hindrance, but for the Christian, the hindrance is an unrenewed mind. Because when we renew our minds, we recognize our total authority over any opposition. And the devil's no problem when you recognize and exercise your authority.
Audience
Amen.
Kenneth Copeland
Praise the Lord. So I would say that all believers, all of us for the rest of our life, we get to enter into this divine profession of renewing our minds. And what a joy to know what right thinking looks like to Know what right thinking is? You know that we don't get swayed into the thinking of this world system and the way that, you know, the media or public figures would present their thinking. We're not confused. Listen, sin will confuse you. Sin will confuse people. But when we move in line with the Word, and we live in line with the Word, we become unconfused. Amen. Yes, Amen. Life becomes clear and right thinking becomes clear to us. Hallelujah. So if you see that my life, I'm not increasing as I should in the prosperity that belongs to me, I'm not increasing in my health. The cure is restore the soul, renew the mind, feed on the Word, the prospering of the soul. All of these things mean the same thing. Feed on the word, deal with the thought life. Deal with the thought life. When you think right, you receive right. Amen. When you think right, you speak right. Why? Because right thinking brings about right believing. And what you believe is what you're going to say. And what you're going to say is what you're going to do. And what you're going to do is going to determine what you receive.
Audience
Amen.
Kenneth Copeland
And so we many times want to advance quickly in prosperity. We want to advance quickly into things. And listen, I want to accelerate as much as I can. I'm with you. Let's accelerate in the blessings of God and in what belongs to us. But there's a process involved. And the process is the renewing of the mind. And that's going to determine the measure of these other things that we walk in. A Christian that's in bondage is not in bondage to the devil. Now get that, because some people might choke over that. But a Christian that's in bondage is not in bondage to the devil. They're in bondage to an unrenewed mind. That unrenewed mind is holding them captive, holding them out of right thinking that cooperates with what God's already made theirs.

Years ago, I was writing a book called God, the Revealer of Secrets. And basically that book is just teaching how to know the plan of God for your life, the will of God for your life. God has a general will for all of his children, but he has a specific will that is a plan that's catered specifically for you and your life. So the Word of God reveals God's general will and plan for all of his people, shows us that salvation belongs to us. That in that salvation package is healing and prosperity and peace and deliverance and soundness But God also has a specific plan for your life. Now, you need to know what the Word says so that you'll know what his general plan is for all of his children. But you also need to know the specific will of God for your life. That's why you need to know the Word and the Spirit. That's why you need to learn to follow the Word and follow the Spirit, because the Word shows us God's general plan that belongs to everyone. But the Holy Spirit will show us the specifics of our life, of God's plan for our life. For example, God says he'll supply all your needs according to his riches and glory. Now that belongs to every Christian. That's a giver. That belongs to Him. He's letting you know that he supplies the needs, but he doesn't tell you. And if you say, well, I need a home, you can know that he'll supply you one because you need one. That's a need. But I'll say this, the Bible doesn't tell you which home, right? You need the specifics. And the Holy Spirit is ever present so that he can unfold to you the specifics for your life. So I, in this book I was writing God, the revealer of secrets. I was talking about how to follow the Word and follow the Spirit to know the plan of God for your life. His general plan for all of his children. Then his specific plan that's catered to your life. And when I was writing it, God spoke to me and he said, make my people to know that long life is connected to my plan. Long life is connected to my plan. In other words, it's good to have an exercise program. It's good to have a healthy eating program. But none of those things can sustain you when you don't have regard for his plan for your life. You see, you have to value his plan, want his plan, and he'll show it to you and he'll reveal it. Long life is connected to his plan. But let me tell you this. As I said, the Word is God's plan for all of his children. Long life is connected to this. Health is connected to this. Prosperity is connected to the Word. That's why we want to take the thoughts of God, of this Word, and make them ours. Because everything good is connected to this.

So this Word will lead you into right thinking. His Word's connected to right thinking. You can't have right thinking apart from the Word.

So when I say Christians that are in bondage are not in bondage. To the devil, they're in bondage to an unrenewed mind, or they're in bondage to wrong thinking. When you recognize that the word says that no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and you believe that, and you think in line with that. Then bad habits of the past, addictions or things that try to hold you in bondage, you realize I'm free from that. And when it dawns on you, then you start demanding those rights that he's made yours. And then you walk free from bondages because the devil can't hold you in a place that God's freed you from. When he. The only. The only time we're held there is God because we don't think right. But what the words say, he whom the son sets free is free. We're not trying to get free. We are free. We're not trying to get healed. We are the healed. And sickness is trying to steal health. We're not trying to get prosperous. We are the prosperous. And the devil is trying to convince us through wrong thinking that we've got to get it. Let me tell you a story in line with that one. A minister asked a Jewish businessman one time. Because this Jewish businessman, he had his own business and he was prospering. And this minister asked him, he said, how do you prosper? And the Jewish businessman said, I don't understand your question. So the minister tried to reword it. He said, well, how do you increase? How do you come into such prosperity? And he said, the Jewish businessman said, I don't understand your question. And then he said, how do you prosper? And the Jewish made answer said, I'm a Jew. Now see, this is what I want you to see. If somebody were to say to me, how did you get to be a female? I would say to them, I don't understand your question. I didn't get. I didn't do anything to become a female. I was born that way. That's what the Jewish businessman was saying to this minister. You're asking me how I got something. I didn't get it. I was born that way. Being born a Jew, I was born into a covenant of prosperity. A Jewish covenant of prosperity. Now, in the mind of the minister, this is where he was missing it. He was trying to separate the two and make them two different things. The man was one thing and prosperity was another thing. So if somebody were to ask me, how did you get to be a female? I would have to say, I don't understand your question. I didn't have to get It I was born this way. When you got born again, you were born prosperous. You were born the healed. You were born with a sound mind. Born again with a sound mind. You don't have to try to get it. It's yours. But things come to try to steal from you what is yours. Now do you see that? So this is when we pray or take steps or make make prayers that, you know, imply. I'm trying to get my healing. I'm trying to get prosperity. I'm trying to get free from depression. The devil knows. We don't know. But when we renew our minds and we know, I'm not trying to get free. I was born free. When I was born again, I was born into all these things. They belong to me. At the new birth, I don't have to get them. But what I do have to do is become skillful with what I was born with.
Audience
Amen.
Kenneth Copeland
And by renewing the mind, we grow in skill, in the skill of the blessing of God.
Audience
Amen.
Kenneth Copeland
And so the devil tries to bring wrong thinking to us so that we think wrong. Because when we think wrong, then he can hold us in bondage. It's not the devil that holds us in bondage. It's wrong thinking that holds us in bondage. Why? Because the devil cannot work through right thinking. He can only work through wrong thinking. So he tries to sow wrong thoughts into our head, into our minds. But we're authorized to refuse the the thought. We won't take that thought. I refuse that thought.
Audience
Amen.
Kenneth Copeland
And so know this. You were born into a sound mind. At the new birth. You were born into prosperity. You were born into health. You were born into peace. You were born into joy. All these things you were born into. Now, everything that tries to imply or tries to say something different, reject it. Resist it. We've been teaching from this book a sound, disciplined mind. We want you to get hold of your copy. You can go to defrainministries.org and you can order it and get your copy sent to you. And we'll get it right out to you. But we want you to get hold of it. It will be a blessing to you. God bless you. We'll see you next time.

Podcast Summary: "Jesus the Healer" with Nancy Dufresne | Episode 017: The Prosperous Soul
Podcast Information:
In Episode 017, titled "The Prosperous Soul," Nancy Dufresne introduces a profound discussion led by Kenneth Copeland on the significance of renewing one's mind to achieve spiritual and material prosperity. Drawing from biblical teachings, the episode delves into overcoming fear, embracing a sound mind, and aligning one's thoughts with God's Word to unlock the blessings intended for believers.
The conversation begins by addressing fear as a spiritual entity rather than merely an emotion. Kenneth Copeland references 2 Timothy 1:7, emphasizing that "God has not given us the spirit of fear" ([00:50]). He underscores that believers possess authority over such spirits, declaring:
"Fear is a spirit. And we have authority over spirits." ([00:50])
Copeland elaborates that fear manifests through worried, doubting, and panicked thoughts—none of which align with the "sound mind" God intends for His followers.
Central to the episode is the concept of a "sound mind," a gift from God that encompasses calmness, discipline, and self-control. Copeland states:
"That's the kind of mind God authored for you. You need to decide that's the only kind of mind I'm gonna permit." ([02:30])
He encourages listeners to reject unsound thoughts, asserting their authority to discontinue negative thinking patterns. The process of renewing the mind is portrayed as essential for right thinking, which in turn facilitates cooperation with God’s plans.
A pivotal theme is the intrinsic link between a prospering soul and material prosperity. Copeland references 3 John 1:2, highlighting God's desire for believers to prosper physically "even as thy soul prospers" ([09:29]). He explains that true prosperity follows the renewal of the mind:
"Prosperity and health will show up based on what's happening to the insides." ([12:24])
This perspective shifts the focus from external efforts to internal spiritual alignment, suggesting that financial and physical blessings are natural outcomes of a spiritually prosperous life.
Throughout the episode, Copeland integrates various scriptures to reinforce his teachings. He cites Psalm 23:1-2, illustrating how God's guidance and restoration are contingent upon a renewed mind:
"He leads me beside still waters... He restores my soul." ([05:30])
Additionally, 3 John 1:2 serves as a cornerstone for understanding the relationship between spiritual and material well-being.
To contextualize his teachings, Copeland shares personal anecdotes and relatable scenarios. One such story involves overhearing a fellow passenger lamenting multiple tragedies during a flight ([07:00]). This experience serves as a testament to the protective power of God and the importance of recognizing His role in safeguarding believers from life's adversities.
Copeland introduces insights from his book, "God, the Revealer of Secrets," discussing how the Holy Spirit unveils God's specific plans for each individual. He emphasizes that while God's general will includes prosperity and health, the Holy Spirit guides believers in realizing their unique destinies:
"The Holy Spirit is ever present so that he can unfold to you the specifics for your life." ([18:10])
This guidance ensures that prosperity is tailored to each person's life, reinforcing the necessity of aligning one's inner spiritual state with external blessings.
A critical point made is that bondage stems from an unrenewed mind, not directly from external evil forces. Copeland asserts:
"A Christian that's in bondage is not in bondage to the devil. They're in bondage to an unrenewed mind." ([17:14])
By renewing the mind and embracing right thinking, believers can break free from negative patterns and fully experience the freedoms and blessings they are entitled to in Christ.
Kenneth Copeland concludes the episode by reiterating that believers are inherently prosperous, healthy, and joyful through their new birth in Christ. He encourages listeners to:
"When you think right, you receive right. When you think right, you speak right. What you believe is what you're going to say. And what you're going to say is what you're going to do. And what you're going to do is going to determine what you receive." ([16:00])
Copeland emphasizes that prosperity is not a result of striving but a natural outcome of living in accordance with God's plans and maintaining a renewed mind.
By fostering a sound mind and aligning thoughts with divine principles, believers can unlock the full spectrum of blessings intended for their lives, experiencing true prosperity both spiritually and materially.
