Thank you to Kenneth Copeland Ministries for sowing the airtime for this broadcast. There's enough power in every sick room and in every hospital room to raise up that sick one that may be describing you. You may be in a sick room, you may be in a hospital room. And I want to remind you, power is present. That power is there to do a work, believe in what's not. Try to get something, but notice that he's already made it yours. It's present right where you're at. Say, I receive that power. I receive that power. I receive it right now. I receive it right now. From the top of my head. From the top of my head. The soles of my feet. The soles of my feet. We are so glad to have you joining us today for Jesus the Healer. Welcome. We are enjoying our time around the Word. And I've got a studio audience in here. And we're all hungry for what God says today. So we invite you, release your faith with us. Amen. Get hold of your Bible. Make notes of things that God says to you, because we believe that you're going to receive answers today for your life. Amen. We've been ministering on the subject of the mind because there's so much that needs to be said. And every day you have to deal with your mind. Every day you got to deal with your thought life. Right? And I will say this, that the more consistent we are in dealing in right thoughts, the easier it becomes. And so we've been taking as our golden text, Second Timothy, chapter one and verse seven. Paul was writing to Timothy and he said, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but he has given unto us power, love, and a sound mind. So a sound mind belongs to us in Christ. I said it belongs to us. It's not about getting God to give us one. He has made it part of our inheritance. But yet we need to take the Word and renew our minds, because that's what's going to hold us in the flow of the sound mind that belongs to us. Amen. Find out what the Word says. Have thoughts in line with the Word. One of the things that we've been talking about, especially in the last several episodes, is about answering wrong thoughts, answering things that are not of the flow of soundness, thoughts that are not of a sound mind. Answer those. How many of you know worry will not arrive you at a sound mind. Thoughts of fear will not arrive you at a flow of a sound mind. Panic, anxiety, all of these things that are the outflow of fear. If These things are entertained. The thoughts of those are entertained over and over again. It will not, not arrive you at a sound mind. A sound mind is a peaceful mind. Amen. Not a harassed. A troubled mind. And we've been talking about this flow of answering it because we have to learn to answer things that tries to draw us out of the flow of soundness. Let's go to 2 Corinthians. I want to look at 2 Corinthians in chapter 4, 2nd Corinthians, 4, 8. We're going to start in verse 8. And we're going to read verses 8 and 9 again. That's 2 Corinthians, 4, 8. And this is Paul telling and listing some of the things that he faced. I want you to see this. He says in his letter. He says, we are troubled on every side. Notice this. We are troubled on every side. But listen to this. He answered it, yet not distressed. Look at that. See, people need to recognize he's not giving a bad report. He's stating what came against it. And then he answered it. We're troubled on every side, yet we're not distressed. Now he lists the temptation, the troubling. We are perplexed. Here's his answer. We're not in despair. Amen, he said. We're persecuted. Look at this. This is him answering it, but not forsaken. That's right. We're cast down, he said, but not destroyed. I love this. He was opposed much, but he showed us how to come out on the other side of opposition. You answer it. When you learn how to answer it, you become more useful to God. God can use you in settings that he couldn't use us in when we didn't know how to answer things. You know, somebody asked me, they said, nancy, what are. And this is a recent interview that I had. They said, what are some of your darkest moments? And I said, my darkest moments was not circumstances. You know, maybe my. For example, my husband went home to be with the lord unexpectedly in 2013. I said, that was my greatest tragedy, but it wasn't my darkest moment. My darkest moments was when I was faced with opposition and didn't know the answer. Those were my hardest times. But when my husband went home to be with the Lord, I knew what the word had to say. So it did not make what could have been, what was tragic, hard to get through. And I'm not making light of his homegoing. I am showing you that when you know what the word says, it anchors you so that you don't go and drift into the wrong places. Amen. When I was a younger Christian and I didn't know how to answer things, that was when I felt overwhelmed. That's when things felt. I felt like a victim. I didn't feel like a victor. When you don't know the answer. But coming into knowledge of the word is what turned everything for me growing up, renewing my mind. And that happens over time. You don't arrive overnight. And so as you do day by day, answer things, answer wrong thoughts, answer wrong feelings, answer symptoms, answer lack that comes there is the testimony that I wanted to share about. I think I've shared it on a previous episode, but it's so good, actually, a revival came out of one man's knowledge of how to answer. A revival. Now listen to this. Because one man of God knew the answer to what was happening, a revival came out for an entire nation. Dr. Sumrall. When Dr. Lester Sumrall, God said to him, I want you to go to the Philippines. He says, I will do more for you there than I've ever done for you anywhere else. And he got there and he heard the report on the radio. They were giving out a call from the prison there in the Philippines, and they said, if there's anybody that can help, help us. There is a young girl in here and she's being tormented. And there were all kinds of things happening, and we won't go into that, the detail of it. And when he heard the report of this girl, God spoke to him and said, I want you to go and set her free. And Dr. Sumrall had only been there a short time in just a few months there in the Philippines. And there were other churches, established churches. I mean, Christian churches. And so he said to God, he said, get somebody else. In other words, he was. He wasn't. He wasn't willing to do it. He was saying, why don't you get someone who's established here and that the people, the community and the city knows of? No one even knows of me. But. So God said, I want you to go set that girl free. And he said, well, he said, God, get somebody else. And this is what God said to him. He says, I don't have anyone else. Now think of that. Now that he had other Christians, there were other ministers there in that city. What did he mean when he says, I don't have anyone else? He was saying, I don't have anyone else who knows how to answer this need. When you know how to answer needs, it makes you such a valuable commodity in the kingdom, because then he can use you to help people who don't know how to answer. Dr. Sumrall went to this prison and he dealt with this young girl and she was set free. It was interesting, he talks about that when he went in the. This young girl that was just harassed by the devil and spoke to him and she spoke. She did not herself speak English, but when the devil spoke through her, it came out in English and the type of threats that came out of her mouth. And he answered every single one, every single one with the word and shut down the mouth of that thing. Amen. When you know how to answer things, see things are waiting on your answer. Your victory is waiting on your answer of faith. It's waiting on it. But then. And so because of that, there were 100,000 people within a three week period that got born again on that island. 100,000 people. Because the mayor was so grateful for this one girl getting help. And he said, what can I do for you? And Dr. Sumrall said, I want the park in the city center. And he said, allow me to have meetings. And he had open air meetings. And 100,000 people got saved in three weeks because one man knew how to answer the devil. Amen. Changed a nation. Changed a nation. And there's still a great work there from that, from that church. It's so interesting because Dr. Summerall knew by the spirit, he said to the man, there was a man there, there in the Philippines and that he had in his warehouse hundreds of thousands of Bibles. And Dr. Sumrall said, you're going to run out of bibles. And he said, Dr. Sumrall, he said, these have been here for decades and I can't get rid of them. And within three weeks they couldn't even find a bible to sell on that island because they were sold out. Amen. Why? Because one man knew the answer of the word. One man. It only takes one person with the answer of God in their mouth. It changes situations. One of my favorite stories. You need to get hold of some of Dr. Sumrall's books and materials because I tell you, when he tells some of this stuff, it will stir you up. This was a man who was bold in his authority and he had a bold faith. That's why he was bold in his authority. Dr. Sumrall was in the nation of Java. He was an apostle to the world. And he traveled all over the world, went to remote places, he went to highly populated cities all over the world. So many churches raised up under his ministry and his fruit remaining miracles and signs and wonders that were worked. One night he was in Java. Now listen to this. I love this. And this is to demonstrate our authority. He was in bed. And, you know, and these kinds of things especially will happen where in countries where Satan is ruling supreme in certain things you'll have more. Where there's more witchcraft and things like that, you'll have these demonstrations. But he went to bed one night, and as he was in bed, his bed started jumping. Jumping. And it wasn't like an earthquake or something. It wasn't even jumping, like up and down evenly. It was one leg moving independent of another leg. So it was just moving in a random way. And he recognized the devil's in here. You know, he wasn't impressed with the devil, right? Yes. You know, don't talk so much about the devil in your life because he. There's a greater one on the inside of you that's worthy of all the attention. But because this bed had moved around so much when this episode happened and his bed was moved out to the middle of the room. And he said this. He commanded the devil get out of here. And the devil left. He said you could sense the evil presence. He told him to get out. And then Dr. Sumrall sits in the middle of the night and he's getting ready to get out of bed, to put the bed back against the wall. And I love this. I love this. He thought, why should I get out of bed? To put back in place what the devil put out of place. We're victors. And he said, satan, come back. Commanded him to come back. He said, you could feel the evil back in the room. And he said, put the bed back. And he said, that bed just slammed up against the wall. And he said, now you can leave authority. Not about devils, about authority. Not about devils, about authority. Amen. He knew how to answer things. God delights when he sees you answer things. Amen. Using. Using your authority. There are rewards to answering right. I said there are rewards to answering right. And know this is that you have authority over Satan. You have authority over the world. You have authority over your own flesh. Amen. You don't have to put up with things. I said, you don't have to put up with things. And I'm trying to go through. I have so many. I have already preached so much. This just keeps coming out. And I just. There's so much that I don't want to keep going back over and over because it's so good. But I'm trying to control myself. And so we have to learn that we are to take our answers and keep things in place in our life. I said, keep things in place in our life. Jesus had to answer things. And to be like him, you have to answer like him. To be like him, you have to not put up with things getting out of place and staying out of place. There were even times, you'll remember, when Jesus asked his disciple the question. He said, who is it that men are saying that I am? Because, see, his disciples are going to hear things that aren't going to be spoken in front of him. And some say, well, some say you're this, some say you're that. And he said, okay, who do you say I am? Yeah. And Peter spoke by the revelation of God and said, thou art the Christ, the son of the living God. And he said, blessed art thou, Simon Barjona, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my God, my Father who is in heaven. So Peter answered, right. He answered right. And he got rewarded out of the mouth of Jesus. You gave a right answer, right? So he answers right. And in answering right, he. He got real bold and he kept going a little further. And so Jesus went on and was going to tell what was going to happen to him. And Peter went on and he made this statement. He says, no, no, no, no, no, Jesus. Cause he talked about, you know, that he's going to be offered up. And he says, no, no, no, Jesus. That won't happen to you. The man who answered with the revelation of God in his mouth now was being a vessel of the enemy who was opposing the greatness of the plan. And what did he do? Because Peter said to him, God forbid, Lord, this must never happen to you, is the way the Amplified Classic said. And Jesus turned to him, away from Peter. So think of it. He turned his back to him and said, get behind me, Satan. He recognized, these words aren't the words of a man. These words are the words of a man being used. And this is what. And the King James says. He says, get thee behind me. But I want you to hear what the Amplified says. It says, you are in my way. I want them to go ahead and put up that verse. That's Matthew 16:23. And this is the Amplified classic translation again, Matthew 16:23. You may want to make note of that. And it says, but Jesus turned away from Peter and said unto him, get behind me, Satan. Look at this. You are in my way. There are gonna be things that try to get in your way. How do you get them out of your way. Talk to em. You are in my way. An offense and a hindrance and a snare to me. Notice anything that tries to hinder, slow you down, tries to get you off of the purpose of God for your life. Answer it, talk to it. Tell it to get out of your way. And then he goes on and he says, for you are minding what partakes not of the nature and quality of God, but of man. He's telling Peter, you're thinking like a mere man. You're not thinking like God. Jesus had no room for entertaining anything but God's will. He didn't entertain anything that wasn't God's will. Listen, when you're believing God for a miracle, you can't listen to anything but what God says. Don't you entertain anything. You can't sit and talk about what if? Amen. You got no room but for what God says. I said no room but for what God says. Amen. Now I want to go. Turn with me to Matthew, chapter 26. This is what I was looking for. Because, as I said, we have authority over the flesh, over the world, and over the devil. Matthew chapter 26 and verse 41. Jesus was talking to his disciples. Listen to this. He said, watch and pray that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. So what's he talking about is that there are temptations that the devil has for us. But he says, if you'll watch. What's that mean? Be alert. Be alert. Don't be. Don't live life mindless. Pay attention to what's trying to interject and hinder you and slow you down. What thoughts is the devil trying to interject into your thought Life. So he said, watch and pray. Why? Because this will fortify you against temptation and it will help you to recognize what needs to be answered. Then we see In Isaiah, chapter 40, verse 31, such a precious verse to us. Isaiah, chapter 40 and verse 31, it says this. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. I want you to look at verse the first part of that. But they that wait upon the Lord, they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. While you're in his presence, you come into greater fellowship with how he thinks. Just being, being with him. Amen. Having exchanges with him, you start partaking of. You start partaking of the same flow that his life is in you. His nature is in you. But it strengthens you, that which is in you is strengthened by being with Him. Amen. Amen. I tell you, this is part of us standing strong in our authority is we have to have a place of strong fellowship with the Father. Why? To help us stay in dominion over our own flesh. Amen. Because remember what Jesus just said. He said, watch and pray that you enter not into temptation. Just because the temptation comes doesn't mean you have to enter it. That's right. Now get that. Just because it comes doesn't mean you have to enter it. And he said, if you'll watch and pray, if you'll spend time with the Father, if you'll be sensitive to what God is saying to you, spend time with the Father around the Word. I mean, take the Word with you to prayer. And as you do, you'll be strengthened and you'll be fortified. And I so appreciate. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. There is a strength that flows that only comes from being with the Father time in his presence. And you'll be fortified to stand your ground. Now I remember something God said to me years ago. He said to me, he said, if you see a Christian succumb to sin, he said, others may look and say that sin took them out. And he said, sin doesn't take out one of my children. Because he said, sin has no dominion over them. He said their failure was they didn't start their day with me. If they would have started with me, they would have been fortified to stand against that sin. Now notice that this is what Isaiah is telling us, that they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They'll be fortified. Why? Because when temptation comes, ah, they've come. They've come from a place of fellowship with the Father, and they're fortified in the face of that temptation. Then Matthew chapter 26 is telling us the same thing. What Jesus said, watch and pray. What? That you won't enter into temptation. It comes, but you don't have to enter it. What keeps you from entering it? He said. Here, he said, the Spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. So as we spend time in the presence of God, we're fortified in our spirits, and our spirits keep dominion over our flesh. Amen. Amen. The flesh will yield to stuff, but the fortified spirit won't. Amen. There's a passage in the Old Testament says the strong spirit of a man will sustain him. Now this is amplified. The strong spirit of a man will sustain him in bodily weakness and in pain. What's he mean? That when you're faced with temptations to be sick. That's what symptoms are, temptations to be sick. When you're faced with that, when a man's spirit is strong, it'll sustain him. Why? Because he's got something to draw on in the face of that temptation. So know this. When you you're faced with opposition, you have to answer it, but you have to fortify yourself. It's not lifeless answers that work. They have to come from your heart. It's not mental answers that work when we're talking about answering it. Spend time in the Word. Spend time with the Father, fellowshipping with God, and there will be exchanged into you a freshness of his strength. Amen again. Isaiah 40 says, Verse 31, but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. The word renew in the Hebrew says, exchange their strength. So you'll exchange your weakness for his strength. There will be a divine exchange that happens. Amen. That's how you can answer strong and stand strong in the face of repeated opposition. Remember Jesus, 40 days and 40 nights. He was in the wilderness, tempted the whole time. But how did he handle that? You know what Paul called it? Buffeting. There was blow after blow after blow. Jesus experienced that in that wilderness of temptation for 40 days and 40 nights. But notice he went in full. It said he was full of the Holy Ghost. You see, he'd been with his father. When you're fortified, you're fortified through the fellowship with your father. You're fortified through the Word, and then you can answer. And your answers, they carry that life because it's coming from a living place. Amen. Hallelujah. Well, we're learning. I said we're learning. We're learning about these things, taking our stand to answer things of the flesh, answer things of the world around us and say, you're not getting in my life. You might get in the neighbor's life. You're not getting in my life answering the enemy. We have authority over all three, because sometimes everybody wants to blame stuff on the devil. Sometimes it's their flesh. It's their flesh. Answer your own flesh. Amen. Well, it's an honor for us to be able to bring this word to you. And you know why we can do it? Because of the generosity of Kenneth Copeland Ministries is for one thing. Episode: 080 | Bold To Answer
Release Date: October 21, 2022
Host: Dufresne Ministries
Description: Nancy Dufresne’s teaching ministry emphasizes faith, healing, renewing the mind, following the Holy Spirit, and understanding what belongs to all in Christ.
In Episode 080, titled "Bold To Answer," Nancy Dufresne delves deep into the power of maintaining a sound mind in Christ and the necessity of actively responding to negative thoughts and spiritual opposition. The episode serves as an empowering guide for believers seeking to strengthen their faith and authority over life's challenges.
Nancy begins by emphasizing the critical role of the mind in a believer's daily life. She cites 2 Timothy 1:7 as her "golden text," highlighting that "for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but he has given unto us power, love, and a sound mind" (00:02:30). Nancy asserts that a sound mind is already an inheritance for believers in Christ, but it requires conscious effort to renew one's thoughts through the Word to stay connected to this divine gift.
A significant portion of the discussion centers on identifying and countering harmful thoughts such as worry, fear, panic, and anxiety. Nancy stresses that "Thoughts of fear will not arrive you at a flow of a sound mind" (00:15:45) and encourages listeners to actively answer and reject these negative patterns to maintain peace and mental stability.
Nancy references 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 to illustrate how Apostle Paul faced various adversities yet remained undistressed. She highlights Paul's ability to "answer it, yet not distressed" (00:09:20), demonstrating the power of faith-filled responses to opposition. This passage serves as a foundation for understanding how believers can navigate their challenges with resilience and faith.
Sharing her personal journey, Nancy recounts the tragic loss of her husband in 2013. She clarifies that while her husband's passing was a great tragedy, it was not her darkest moment. "My darkest moments were when I was faced with opposition and didn’t know the answer" (00:16:50). This testimony underscores the importance of knowing the Word to navigate through personal trials without descending into despair.
One of the standout segments of the episode is Nancy's recounting of Dr. Lester Sumrall's impactful ministry in the Philippines. When faced with a dire situation at a prison, Dr. Sumrall demonstrated unwavering faith by answering spiritual opposition, leading to a massive revival where "100,000 people... got born again on that island" (00:25:30). This story exemplifies how one person's boldness and knowledge of the Word can catalyze transformative spiritual movements.
Nancy delves into biblical teachings on the authority believers hold over Satan, the world, and their own flesh. She references Matthew 16:23 where Jesus rebukes Peter, saying, "Get behind me, Satan" (00:34:10), highlighting the necessity of denying anything that hinders God's purpose. Additionally, Nancy cites Matthew 26:41 and Isaiah 40:31 to reinforce the importance of vigilance, prayer, and reliance on God's strength:
Matthew 26:41: "Watch and pray that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." (00:37:50)
Isaiah 40:31: "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles." (00:41:20)
These scriptures collectively emphasize maintaining a strong spiritual connection to effectively counteract temptations and spiritual attacks.
Nancy underscores the necessity of continuous fellowship with the Father to sustain one's strength and authority. She explains that "when you're fortified through the fellowship with your father" (00:44:00), believers are better equipped to handle temptations and spiritual battles. This fortification process involves immersing oneself in the Word and maintaining a robust prayer life to stay aligned with God's will.
In concluding the episode, Nancy reiterates the vital message of being "Bold To Answer" in the face of life's challenges. By renewing the mind through the Word, actively rejecting negative thoughts, exercising spiritual authority, and maintaining a strong connection with God, believers can navigate opposition with confidence and faith. The episode serves as an inspiring call to action for listeners to embrace their divine inheritance and live victoriously in Christ.
