Thank you to Kenneth Copeland Ministries for sowing the airtime for this broadcast.
Nancy Dufresne
There's enough power in every sick room and in every hospital room to raise up that sick one that may be describing you. You may be in a sick room, you may be in a hospital room. And I want to remind you, power is present. That power is there to do a work, believe in what's not. Try to get something, but notice that he's already made it yours. It's present right where you're at. Say, I receive that power. I receive that power. I receive it right now. I receive it right now. From the top of my head. From the top of my head. The soles of my feet. The soles of my feet. We are so glad to have you with us today for Jesus the healer. Thank you for joining us. And I tell you what, the Word will bless you.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
And so we're here today, the studio audience with me today, because we're all hungry for what God has. And I know you are. And so we're just. We're just. We're thrilled to sit around and fellowship around the Word, teach the Word and receive of the Word. Why? So we can be better doers of the Word.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
We've been teaching on the subject of praise and worship. And we have been taking a statement that Brother Copeland made, and we're spotlighting that. And he said this. He said, when you pray, you lay hold of things. Thank God for that. And you know what? Every time we pray, we should lay hold of something. When you pray, you lay hold of things. But when you praise, you win battles. What's that mean? When you praise, you get on the other side of that opposition.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
And so we're also taking something that God said to Brother Norval Hayes. Now, Brother Norville, he was a precious minister who had a strong healing ministry, taught faith, and God taught him some things to where he began to emphasize the place of worship in the life of faith. And so we want to. Just because Brother Norville went home to be with the Lord, we don't want to let those revelations slip or drift away from that light. Because if you're not careful, the light can go out that God gave and then some. It needs to be reignited again. And we don't want that to happen. It's not necessary that that happen. If we just pay attention to what did God say and hold fast to that and implement it. And what God said to Brother Norval Hayes years ago, he said, my children basically love me, but they live in poverty, sickness and defeat. How many of you know that's not the flow he authored? He redeemed us from those things. Then he said to Brother Norville, they don't live in heaven's blessings because. Or he's going to give us the cause. They don't live in heaven's blessings because they don't worship me enough. And I always clarify that statement for others who might misunderstand the wording. When it says they don't worship me enough, he doesn't mean they don't worship me enough to earn something. That's not the meaning. We're not worshiping enough to earn something. But we could say it this way because they don't worship me long enough for the anointing to come into manifestation and the anointing to destroy the yoke. So we want to make sure that we don't just give a cordial nods to worship of God. Praise you, Father. Thank you, Father. No, we want to have heartfelt flow of his praise continually in our mouths. So God went on and said to Brother Norville, he said, you're teaching faith and confession and you're praying for the sick. Now, those are right things. And he's saying that that's the right thing. He said, but you need to worship me more. So although these right things were being done, what we leave undone is really is what can keep us from being as effective as we should be. So he said, but you need to worship me more. And you need to teach my people to worship me more. Listen, you have to be taught. You have to be taught. Why? Because if we're not taught, we'll go back to the old way of doing things. We'll go back to the same old way of responding in the face of adversity. We have to be taught the proper response in the face of adversity. Because the proper response is not always. Many times what we did before was not the proper response. But now that we're learning the Word, we're learning what's the proper response? What is the flow that God will meet us in? So good. He's letting us know that praise and worship is a flow that he will meet us in. So he said, you need to teach my children to worship me more. He said, I'm their God. They're my people. If you'll teach my children to worship me more, I will do great and mighty things for them. Listen. Great and mighty things are offered to us. And it's in the flow of worship that we're able to cooperate with that flow of great and mighty things and to receive from him.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
So we have to be taught not to flip, to worry at a time of opposition. Don't flip, to panic. Don't flip over into the flow of fear or into the flow of doubt. You know, you have to know this is that the enemy is always endeavoring to pull you out of the plan of God, out of the flow of God for your life. He's always doing it. And he will use all kinds of influences. Evil spirits, that influence. And it's up to us to refuse their entrance. Answer it. Say, no, you don't. And that's why some people, if I could say this, sometimes even in their own spiritual growth and development, they go so far and then they stop. And then they go so far and they stop because hindrances, the enemy will use bad habits. He will use addictions, bondages and things to hinder people.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
But we need to get in the flow that the hindrances cannot enter. Praising and worshiping God will put us in the flow that no opposition can withstand. First of all, and we taught for, what was it, four or five months on the mind, on our authority, our authority over wrong thoughts, wrong opposition, wrong things that try to hinder us in our advancement in the will of God. Answer those things. Answer those things. But once you answer wrong thoughts, casting down fearful thoughts, things that trouble your mind, you have to pick up another flow so you don't step back into the flow of the wrong. I taught for a number of days on this message called Answer it. That when difficulties, temptations, tests show up, there always comes with that, an attack on the mind. What do you do with an attack on the mind? Well, you answer wrong thoughts with the word. You answer those thoughts and you answer them specifically. The next thing is you tell the spirit that spoke it to leave. And then number three, you praise and you worship. Why? Because it keeps you from entertaining the thoughts of suggested to you. Because your focus and your attention is now turned toward God. And off of the threat, off of the temptation, off of the suggestion. And this is one reason I believe, that God said to Brother Norville, teach my children to worship me more. Why? Because it will hold them in a place where their authority, first of all, they'll use their authority. But they'll stand firm in their authority when they're praising and worshiping God. Because it causes you to live mindful of the greater one that is within. We don't worship and praise him so he can feel good about himself. We worship and praise him so that we don't sway off of our victory ground and to help hold our attention on the greater One, who is our help. Really, so much of the life of faith is practicing and learning how to keep your attention off of what's opposing you. Keep your attention on the Word. Keep your attention on who's in you, who's working for you.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
And so we have to learn these things and we have to be taught. You have to be taught that when things are out of place, praise and worship is still the appropriate flow. You're not praising God for difficulties you're going through, but you're holding your attention on the help. When you're faced with a temptation, when you're faced with a test, when you're faced with opposition.
Audience
Amen. Now.
Nancy Dufresne
As I said, the greater One is on the inside of us. The Holy Spirit is in us. Amen. As a multitasker, he will comfort, he will teach, he will guide all of these things that we ever need him to be. He is to us. I love something that Pat Harrison says. Now, Pat Harrison is a precious, precious friend of ours, precious, powerful lady minister, and she's dad Hagin's daughter. And she so much of the time she'll start her services with, I love the Holy Spirit because He is to me everything God said He would be to me. Amen. He is our comforter, our helper, our teacher, our guide, our strengthener, our standby.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
He's all of these things, but he's also the performer of God's words. I said he is the performer of God's words because the greater One is in us to do something now. He helps us in our doing. He's our helper. He is not our doer. He's a performer of God's words. But he cannot do our part, yet he will help us as we do our part. And so, so many times people will sit back and wait for God to do something, but the Holy Spirit is not our doer. He is our helper as we do. And he is a doer or a performer of God's words.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
If we look at Genesis chapter one and verse one. Let's go to the first. How about that? The very first. The amplified translation. The amplified classic translation reads, in the beginning, God prepared, formed, fashioned and created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and an empty waste. And darkness was upon the face of the very great deep. Listen to this. The Spirit of God. The Spirit of God. When things were dark. When things were without form, when things were not yet manifested. The Spirit of God.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
The Spirit of God was moving. He was not yet moving to perform words because words hadn't come yet. I like what the amplified says because it shows us with greater clarity. When it said the Spirit of God was moving, it says, he was hovering, brooding. What was it? He was ready. He was ready and he was in motion. He was not just stationary. He knew words were coming, and he came to perform words. He was moving. He was hovering, brooding over the face of the waters. Now look at this. And God said, so what was the Spirit waiting for? He was hovering, waiting for words to give him his assignment. And God said, let there be light. And it says, and there was light. Why was there light? Because the Spirit of God performed the words that God said. The Holy Spirit is a performer. He's a performer of God's words. He's not a performer anything. He doesn't just perform what we think. He performs words that we say that are in agreement with God's words.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
He is a performer. He was waiting for words to direct his movement. His movement was a hovering movement. It had no direction to it. Words gave it direction. The moment God spoke, the Spirit performed. And we won't take time to read that whole passage in Genesis, but you know, that's how creation came about. God spoke. The Spirit performed. God spoke. The Spirit performed. The Spirit only performed what was spoken. The Spirit did not perform everything all at once. He only spoke. He only performed what was spoken. So it matters that we're specific in what we speak. Amen. Too many times, we want the whole and speak the whole. But even God, he did not perform everything. Everything was not performed at once. He spoke one aspect of creation, then he spoke the next, and then he spoke the next. He was specific. He was specific. Faith to work needs to be specific. People who say, I believe God. Well, what for? Well, I just generally believe God. Then you get generally nothing. It's generally, what's performed is nothing. Because there was no specifics that gives assignment to the Holy Spirit who performs. We need to be specific. We need to be specific.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
He is a performer and he's in us. What's he doing in us? Hovering, ready to be put to action because he's there, ready. And when he hears words that are in agreement with God's words, now he has his assignment of what he can perform. God sees our situations. He knows our situations. We don't receive help because God knows our situations. Now listen to that. We don't receive help because God knows. The Word tells us God knows what we have need of even before we ask. But we still have to ask why? Because God knowing is not his permission to work.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
That is so good. If we were sitting in a service together and the pastor of a service said, we're going to receive our offering, tithes and offerings, and you took out your wallet, and I could see in your wallet there's five $100 bills. I could. I'm sitting next to you. I see. Oh, you got five $100 bills. Just because I know you have them is not permission for me to take them. I cannot partake of that uninvited. Right? Yes, right. God knows our need. He sees it. But that's not his permission to work in behalf of our need. That's why we have to release faith. Faith is his invitation to work. Why God will not work uninvited. And as dad Hagin taught us, the reason is God's a perfect gentleman. He will not work uninvited. The devil does, because he's a violator. But God won't. And it's our faith that invites Him. When you praise, when you worship, that is an act of faith. When you praise God, you praise God. As we said in previous episodes, praising and worshiping flow together. They're much of the same flow, but there are some differences. What I see about praise and worship in the Word is that when we praise God, we're praising him for what he has done. We're praising him for what he has made ours. We're praising him for who he has made us to be in Christ. As we praise him for those things specifically, then we become partakers of those things that we already possess. Healing is already ours. It's our present possession. Prosperity already ours, victory already ours. All of these things are our present possession. But we need to become partakers of what we possess. And by praising God, these things that we possess become a reality. They become a moving, living thing in our lives. So praising God is how we release faith in what he has already made ours. So when we say, father, I praise you that you are my provider, for you shall supply. You have already supplied all my needs according to your riches and glory by Christ Jesus, the Holy Spirit, who is present, moving, ready for action, ready to perform when he hears God's words, now he can perform because faith invited it.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
Worshiping of God is honoring and reverencing and magnifying him for who he is. But praising is. Is laying hold of and becoming a partaker of what he's already made ours.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
Now we've been looking also at Psalm 34. 1. It says, I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be where?
Audience
In my mouth.
Nancy Dufresne
Why? You not only have to. Faith has to be in two places. In your heart and in your mouth. In your heart and in your mouth. For with the heart man believeth and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. We could say it this way. For with the heart man believeth and with the mouth confession is made unto manifestation. Same thing.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
And so when we say his praise shall continually be in my mouth, why does God instruct us that praise praises to be a continual flow? Why? Because then we're giving the Holy Spirit something to continually perform. We don't want him to be in us and inactive without invitation to work. He's there to do a work.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
He is the great performer. Amen. So the day we praise Jesus for being our healer, praise you Jesus, that you have made healing mine. And I worship my Father who is the source of all health. Through Jesus we receive healing. Right. As we say that the Holy Spirit performs it. He performs it as long as we say it. If we fail to say it, he doesn't have permission to keep performing. He can only perform what we say. He cannot perform what we do not say. Now get that. He can only perform what we say. He cannot perform what what we do not say. Jesus said. So be it done unto you according to your faith. You know that faith says something. Yes, it does. We could also really say it this way and be correct. Is that so be it done unto you according to your saying? Uh huh. Because faith says something. That's why he says his praise shall continually be in my mouth. Because then we know what, what we're saying is right. And it is a flow of faith when we praise.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
So the day we worship Jesus as our healer, the Holy Spirit responds to that faith, that faith invites him and he moves in line with that. And you get up the next day and you say, thank you Jesus, that you are my healer. I praise you for. I praise you for being my healer. The Holy Spirit who is there, he hears that and he continues to perform. And if we fail to say it for a month, two months, then he cannot perform what is not spoken. He performs as long as we keep saying. That's why continual saying of faith and praising God is instructed in the Word for us to do.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
It's words of faith that set the Spirit to performing.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
Hallelujah. When we worship Jesus for being our healer, that's when he can be that to us. When we worship him as our provider, that's what he will be to us. When we worship him as our victory, that's what he will be to us.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
Now, I grew up in a precious denominational church. Precious, precious people. But we weren't taught the things that you're hearing me talk about. We never even. I never even saw. In all my life growing up. For 17 years in that church, I never saw an altar call. There was never. We were never told, you need to be born again. Never heard it. We thought, because we went to church and we believed God existed that that made us a Christian. But the Word says, whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. So we sat. I sat for 17 years and never called on the name of the Lord. I didn't know you needed to be saved. I never heard it. So because he was not praised as Savior, worshiped as Savior, no one got saved.
Audience
Right.
Nancy Dufresne
We also never heard him referred to as healer. I never saw anyone healed in that church. Why? Because what we don't say he can't perform. He is to us what we call him to be. If we don't call him that, he cannot be that to us. Although it belongs to us. The Holy Spirit can't perform until our words assign him to us.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
Jesus can only be to us what we worship him as. Really, the bulk of the believer's life is a life of worshiping thanking God for what is already ours. It's our present possession. But as we worship, we become partakers.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
Our worship and praise invites him. Invites him to perform what he already has made ours. What we worship him for is what we have faith for. Now listen to that. What we worship him for is what we are having faith for. And he can only manifest what we have faith for. Right?
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
That's real good. People say, well, if it belongs to me, why doesn't it just show up? Because he can only perform what we have faith for. Praise the Lord. Well, these are some of the things that we're teaching in our book Worship. And we invite you to get your copy of it because it'll be a blessing to you. And go to. To defrainministries.org and let us know that you want your copy of it. Because we want to do what God told Brother Norville. Teach my people to worship me more. Why? So that we don't flip back into the mental arena, the arena of defeat. We stay in the faith arena, the spirit arena.
Audience
Amen.
Nancy Dufresne
And until next time, remember this Jesus is the healer. God bless you.

Podcast Summary: Jesus the Healer w/ Nancy Dufresne – Episode 098 | The Holy Spirit Performs Our Words
Introduction and Context
In Episode 098 of the "Jesus the Healer" podcast, hosted by Dufresne Ministries, Nancy Dufresne delves into the profound relationship between our words and the work of the Holy Spirit. Released on November 16, 2022, the episode centers on the theme: "The Holy Spirit Performs Our Words." Nancy emphasizes the importance of faith, healing, renewing the mind, and cultivating a deeper connection with the Holy Spirit to access what belongs to believers in Christ.
The Power of Prayer and Praise
Nancy begins by highlighting Kenneth Copeland’s insightful statements on prayer and praise. She references Copeland's idea that:
“[When you] pray, you lay hold of things. Thank God for that. And every time we pray, we should lay hold of something. But when you praise, you win battles. [00:10]”
This distinction underscores the transformative power of praise in overcoming opposition. Nancy explains that while prayer helps in claiming what is already ours, praise shifts our focus beyond immediate challenges, positioning believers on the victorious side against opposition.
Teaching from Brother Norval Hayes
Nancy pays homage to the late Brother Norval Hayes, a revered minister known for his healing ministry and teachings on faith. She shares a pivotal revelation Brother Norval received:
“God said to Brother Norval Hayes, my children basically love me, but they live in poverty, sickness and defeat. How many of you know that's not the flow he authored? He redeemed us from those things.” [04:00]
Contrary to this foundational truth, Hayes identified the lack of sufficient worship as a barrier preventing believers from fully experiencing heaven’s blessings. Nancy clarifies that it’s not about worshiping to earn blessings but about maintaining a continuous flow of praise that invites the anointing to manifest and break yokes of oppression.
Maintaining Faith Through Worship and Praise
Nancy emphasizes the necessity of being taught how to respond to adversity through worship and praise. She outlines practical steps to avoid falling into fear or doubt when faced with challenges:
“We have to be taught not to flip, to worry at a time of opposition. ... You have to know this is that the enemy is always endeavoring to pull you out of the plan of God.” [06:01]
By fostering habits of praise and worship, believers can maintain their focus on God’s promises and resist the enemy’s attempts to derail their spiritual progress. Nancy stresses that continuous praise keeps the Holy Spirit active within, ensuring that faith continues to flow and thwart hindrances like addictions or bad habits.
The Role of the Holy Spirit as a Performer
A significant portion of the episode explores the Holy Spirit’s role in performing God’s words. Nancy references Genesis 1:1-2 to illustrate this dynamic:
“The Spirit of God was moving. He was not yet moving to perform words because words hadn't come yet. ... He is a performer. He's a performer of God's words. ... [12:05]”
Drawing from the Amplified Bible translation, Nancy explains that the Holy Spirit was in motion, ready to act upon God’s spoken commands during creation. This analogy extends to believers today, where the Holy Spirit waits for our words of faith to execute God’s promises in our lives.
The Importance of Specific Speaking in Faith
Nancy underscores the necessity of being specific in our declarations of faith. She warns against vague affirmations, advocating instead for precise statements that align with God’s word:
“We need to be specific. ... If we just generally believe God. Then you get generally nothing. ... [14:22]”
By articulating clear and specific declarations, believers provide the Holy Spirit with precise directives to perform His work, ensuring that faith is not just a passive belief but an active, speaking faith that directs divine intervention.
Worship vs. Praise
Nancy delineates the nuanced differences between worship and praise, illustrating how each plays a distinct role in the believer’s spiritual walk:
“Worshiping of God is honoring and reverencing and magnifying him for who he is. But praising is laying hold of and becoming a partaker of what he's already made ours. ... [20:10]”
While worship focuses on honoring God’s character and sovereignty, praise is about claiming and partaking in the blessings and promises already secured in Christ. This duality reinforces the believer’s position in both adoration of God and affirmation of their faith in His provisions.
Continual Praise and Speaking Faith
Referencing Psalm 34:1, Nancy emphasizes the importance of maintaining a continual flow of praise:
“I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” [20:27]
She explains that having praise perpetually on our lips ensures that the Holy Spirit remains active and responsive, continually performing and manifesting God’s promises. This persistent praise acts as an ongoing invitation for the Holy Spirit to work in alignment with our spoken declarations of faith.
Personal Testimony and Call to Action
Towards the end of the episode, Nancy shares her personal experiences growing up in a church that lacked teachings on worship and praise. This absence led to missed opportunities for salvation and healing within her community:
“I grew up in a precious denominational church. ... For 17 years in that church, I never saw an altar call. ... We never heard him referred to as healer. ... [24:15]”
This testimony underscores the critical role that intentional worship and praise play in activating the Holy Spirit’s work. Nancy concludes by inviting listeners to deepen their understanding through her book, "Worship," available at daufrainministries.org, encouraging them to embrace a lifestyle of continual praise to unlock their spiritual inheritance.
Conclusion
Episode 098 of "Jesus the Healer" with Nancy Dufresne offers a comprehensive exploration of how the Holy Spirit operates through our words of faith and praise. By distinguishing between prayer and praise, emphasizing the necessity of specific declarations, and illustrating the dynamic role of the Holy Spirit as a performer of God’s word, Nancy provides listeners with actionable insights to enhance their spiritual walk. The episode serves as a powerful reminder that continuous worship and praise are not merely acts of devotion but strategic moves to align with God’s promises and experience His miraculous work in our lives.
