There's enough power in every sick room and in every hospital room to raise up that sick one that may be describing you. You may be in a sick room, you may be in a hospital room. And I want to remind you, power is present. That power is there to do a work, believe in what's not. Try to get something, but notice that he's already made it yours. It's present right where you're at. Say, I receive that power. I receive that power. I receive it right now. I receive it right now. From the top of my head. From the top of my head. The soles of my feet. The soles of my feet. We are so glad to have you join us today for Jesus the Healer. Welcome. We invite you to become a student with us today. Release your faith with the word that you hear. We started teaching on a previous episode about Jesus healing ministry and those that were healed under his healing ministry. Because in that we can see what we need to receive healing. What do we do or what do we do to minister healing to someone? Praise God. And so, as we study these healings that took place under Jesus earthly ministry, we'll get results. Amen. We're going to go ahead and read an entire passage, then I'm going to take it and we're going to who just break it down line by line and teach it. So we're going to start with the healing of blind Bartimaeus. In Mark 10:46, it reads, and they came to Jericho. And as Jesus went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace. But he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. And they called the blind man, saying unto him, be of good comfort, rise. He calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, what wilt thou that I should do unto thee? And the blind man said unto him, lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, go thy way. Thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus in the way. So we want to see something here that blind Bartimaeus had heard of Jesus. What he heard mattered. When it came to what he believed, he believed Jesus was a healer. He must have heard Jesus was a healer. We referred to that in the previous episode because many times for people to be healed, they need to hear the right thing. If you hear the wrong thing, you'll believe the wrong thing. You believe the wrong thing, you'll say the wrong thing, and then you'll receive the wrong thing. So hearing precedes healing. When you need to receive healing, hear, hear the word, Hear the word taught. Sometimes people will, even if they don't say it to God, they'll think it. Why doesn't God hurry up and heal me when it is us? Why don't we hurry up and hear? Because what we hear is what we're going to believe. And what we believe is what we're to act on. Amen. So Jesus, blind Bartimaeus, heard the right thing about Jesus. And therefore he called and he called for mercy. And so notice that he started calling out. He started crying out for Jesus. Attention. Faith calls. When you're believing God, you call things. And many times people are waiting for God to just send them what they need. And faith has to call for what they need. People say, well, why do I have to call it if God knows that I need it? Just because God knows we need something is not our permission to him to do it. And God won't do anything uninvited. Now the devil will. Devil will do it all day long uninvited. But God won't. And he only moves at the invitation. And our faith is his invitation. Amen. And so that's why we have to call, call yourself healed, call yourself peaceful, call yourself prosperous. Call it. Amen. And so we see this, that the Word tells us that let the redeemed of the Lord say so. In Psalms 107:2, let the redeemed of the Lord say so. So now that we're redeemed, there's another action that we have to take. We have to say so. We have to call it. If we don't say so, our redemption won't work for us. We can be redeemed and not be enjoying what we're redeemed from. I mean, we're enjoying that redemption, our freedom from spiritual death, sickness, poverty. So we have to say so. And the power of God keeps pace with our saying. The more we say it, the more we have it. The less we say it, the less we have it. And so what we say activates what belongs to us. God's already provided everything we're going to need for this life. But what he has provided is waiting for us to take possession of it. And we take possession of it through saying. Many times people think, well, if God's provided it, why doesn't it just show up? Because you have to possess what's provided. And we take possession by calling it. And that's what we see with blind Bartimaeus. I want you to turn with me to Philemon. Chapter one, Philemon 1:6. And it says this, that the communication of thy faith, look at that phrase, communication of your faith. You can have faith, but it has to be communicated. It has to be activated, it has to be released. Faith comes by hearing. But faith does not operate by hearing. It operates by communicating that faith, speaking that faith. That the communication of thy faith may become effectual. How is it going to become effective? By acknowledging every good thing which is in you, in Christ Jesus. So every good thing is already in you. But you have to acknowledge it. You have to acknowledge it. You have to acknowledge I'm healed in the face of symptoms. You have to acknowledge I'm prosperous in the face of lack. Amen. So you have to communicate your faith and you have to know some things so that you communicate the right thing. You call yourself broke, you get broker, you call yourself sick, you get sicker. You call yourself healed, you get better. Amen. So our faith activates the blessing that Jesus made ours. And it's a voice activated blessing that the voice of faith has to activate it. So whatever you need, call for it. If we will do what blind Bartimaeus did, we'll get what he got. He called Amen. Faith calls those things which be not as though they were. Don't call what you have, call what you want. Amen. Faith doesn't call it as it is, it calls it as it desires it to be. Amen. You know what the word says? It says, let the weak say I'm strong. Let the poor say I'm rich. It doesn't say, let the weak say I'm getting weaker. It doesn't say, let the poor say, my gosh, I got no money. Yeah, right. No, it says, call what you don't have. Let the weak say I'm strong. Let the poor say I'm rich. So the word time and time again tells us to call it as we desire it to be. Call it as God made it to be. Amen. And can I tell you this? It's not a one time call. It's a lifestyle of calling. So many times people will say, well, Pastor Nancy, I've called, but nothing showed up. It's a lifestyle. And people say, well, how long do I have to call? For the rest of your life. Because you're always calling yourself something the rest of your life. Amen. So call what you want, call what God's provided. Call what belongs to you in Christ so that that's what will come. Listen, it says that blind Bartimaeus called son of David, have mercy on me. I love this Son of David. Have mercy on me. And it says that he stopped, didn't he? Jesus stopped and said, have him brought to me. Have him come to me. So notice Jesus was not going that day to journey to blind Bartimaeus. He was on the highway. The word tells us that blind Bartimaeus was on the highway. That's the path that people took to get from one community to another. Jesus is just going on the highway and headed where he's going. But blind Bartimaeus, his faith stopped Jesus, stopped him. You are authorized to stop God from passing you by. Amen. I love something that Brother Richard Roberts, a precious man of God, that has been such a blessing to this ministry. Of course, Oral Roberts, son, he came here in preaching, he said, he quoted his dad, and he said, my dad would say this every day, miracles are coming to you or going past you. That day, Jesus, miracle power, was going down the highway. And Jesus would have kept walking and passed blind Bartimaeus by, except for a call. A call stopped Jesus. A call stopped the power of God. A call stopped miracle power. So when Oral Roberts makes this statement, every day, miracles are coming to you or going past you. How do you keep miracle power from going past you? You stop it. How do you stop it? You call it. Amen. Don't pass me by. I take that power. I take that healing. I take what I need. And you call it. Why do you call it? You believe it. You don't call what you don't believe is available. I have several dogs. I call them because I know I got them. I don't call the name of a dog. I don't have. Amen. I don't call Sadie. I don't have a Sadie. I don't have a dog named Sadie. So I don't call it. When people don't believe healing is theirs, they don't call it. You only believe. You only call what you believe you have right. Amen. Praise the Lord. That's what blind Bartimaeus did. He called Jesus to stop. Don't pass me by. How many, how sad it is to Have a need and let the help pass you by. Jesus stopped for a call. Jesus stopped for faith that called. Amen. Now look at verse 47 again. There. We're in Mark, chapter 10. And verse 47, it says, and when blind Bartimaeus heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. So I want you to see this. He didn't call. He didn't say, heal me. He said, have mercy on me. Healing is a flow of the mercy of God. It's called a healing mercy. You know, when King Jehoshaphat and God's people were threatened by enemy armies, God told them, you don't need to fight in this battle. I'll do the fighting. But God instructed them to go out in the face of the enemy and put praisers up front. And they were to say these words, for the Lord is good and his mercy endures forever. See, God told them what words to say in the face of the enemy. Don't come up with your own words. Take his words, say his words. Why? Because his words get the right thing. Your words that you thought up might not be the right ones. Speak the word, call with the word in your mouth, God's word. So God told them what to say. You know, when you're faced with a need for healing, when you're faced with a need for a miracle, look to the Holy Ghost. He'll direct you what verse to put in your mouth. Don't just randomly grab things. Look to the greater one within you. He'll direct you so that your calling is accurate and in line with your faith. Amen. And so God told King Jehoshaphat, put the praisers up front and have them to say, for the Lord is good and his mercy endures forever. So notice, when they needed to win a battle, it was of the Lord's mercy. God's goodness provided his mercy for them. Amen. And as they did that, the Lord set ambushments and the enemy turned and killed one another. And then God's people, all they had to do for the next three days was go in and collect all the treasure, collect all the reward of that. And it took them three days to do it. Three days to do it. Why? Because mercy moved. God's goodness released mercy. And this is what blind Bartimaeus called out for. Mercy. I tell you what, no matter what your need is, you can receive healing mercy, delivering mercy, prospering mercy. Amen. It's right to call for the mercy of God. The good Thing about it, the word tells us that his mercies are new every morning. My goodness. Meaning this? You never run out of mercy. He provides new mercies for us every day. Why? He invites us to spend them. Spend my mercy on your life today. There's a fresh supply of it every single day for you. There's so much mercy that it takes day after day after day after day to hold it all. Praise the Lord. Verse 48. Mark, chapter 10. Verse 48. Let's see. And it says, while blind Bartimaeus called out, it says, and many charged him or commanded him that he should hold his peace. In other words, be quiet. You're being too loud. But what did he do? He cried. The more a great deal. Thou son of David, have mercy on me. Don't listen. Don't let those who aren't calling tell you to be quiet. They weren't blind. Listen. There's something that you have to be aware of. That when these people around him told him to shut up, you're too loud. Other words, he's not going to stop for you. He doesn't have something for you. Why do you need his attention? What makes you think he's going to stop for you? They weren't the ones blind. They weren't the ones suffering. With that. What was it? Lack of compassion on their part. Told him be quiet. Easy for them to say. They're not the ones struggling. I tell you what, compassion matters. I said compassion matters. And some people hold little compassion for those who are afflicted, those who are sick. The crowd decided that blind Bartimaeus wasn't worthy of Jesus stopping for him. But I'm so thankful Blind Bartimaeus didn't consider himself unworthy because he kept calling. Amen. Listen. Jesus loves. He runs to needs to bring supply. Amen. He loves to bless and minister. Don't let any devil. Don't let any wrong thinking talk you out that you're not worthy of Jesus. Stopping at your need of power, coming to your need. Miracle power will come to your need. You're worthy of it because Jesus makes you worthy. Amen. Don't let a sense of guilt or sense of shame or sin consciousness talk you out of the worthiness to receive. Jesus makes you worthy and our faith gives him permission to work for. And I say this, have compassion on those who are suffering. Have compassion on those who need something. You know the Word says, pray one for another that you may be healed. What's he saying? Have compassion on somebody else. When you need healing, have compassion on somebody else. Because we see this, that God links what happens to us as to how we treat what others need. We need to have not just interest in ourself, but interest in someone else. And we see this crowd was not interested this man who was suffering with this affliction. Amen. So when we have compassion on someone else, that compassion will come back around and boomerang back into our life and be a blessing to us. When it says, pray one for another, that's James 5:16 says, Pray one for another that you may be healed. Why? What you sow, you reap, you sow lack of compassion. You can't receive compassion. Your capacity to receive compassion is shut down when you won't give it. The more you give compassion, the more it enlarges your capacity to receive compassion. Does that make sense to you? Amen. The crowd wasn't helping him that day. Because you might not always have help around you, but you don't need the help around you. When you got faith. If there's no one to help you, you and God are enough. I said you and God are enough. Now, don't misunderstand me. As much as you can make your companionship, those of people of faith, have a fellowship with those of faith because it will help fortify you. But this man had to stand alone. There may come times in your life when you're standing alone. Stand alone. The faith of God on the inside of you will enable you to stand alone so that you can receive just you and God. Amen. Hallelujah. The crowd wasn't helping him. He had to do his own calling. Don't leave your calling up to someone else. You do your own calling. Don't expect your spouse to do all the calling. Don't expect a parent to do all the calling. Don't expect your pastor to do all the calling. No one can bring your need before God like you. You're so well acquainted with how much you need it. Amen. Don't trust your miracle to someone else's call. You call for yourself. Don't depend on others to do your believing for you. Have faith of your own. You know, it matters that you have faith of your own. Because I look at my life. If I would have just been content to rely on my husband's faith, then the day he left this earth, I would have been in a problem. But I had my own faith. Amen. It's not safe to just have someone else's faith as the umbrella over your life because things change. Have your own faith. Don't be content to Live under the umbrella of someone else's faith. Amen. He did not let pressure from the crowd silence him. He just got louder. Listen. Circumstances may arise and tell you that your faith isn't working. May going to tell you that things aren't working for you. Blind Bartimaeus showed us what to do at that time. Get louder, call more, Increase your calling. Amen. In verse 49, Mark, chapter 10. In verse 49, it says, and Jesus stood still. Jesus stopped going on his journey. Jesus changed his calendar that day for someone who called. Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. And they called the blind man, saying unto him, be of good comfort, rise. He calleth thee. Oh, now they're all on his team in front of Jesus. In front of Jesus. They wanted to look good, right? Oh, good. Good for you. Good for you. You know, you got his attention before Jesus was there. They were telling him, shut up. Listen, be sincere. Amen. Be sincere. Don't just be one way when somebody of importance is looking. Be sincere. Amen. And so notice, he commanded him to be called Jesus. As I said, he stopped for his faith. But notice he didn't do everything for blind Bartimaeus. He. He didn't say, let me go find the blind man. He said he called for him to come. God doesn't do everything for you. Why, he's not going to make you. If I could say this to where you can't do for yourself. He's not going to do what you should be doing. If God did everything for us, where would our faith grow? It wouldn't grow. See, it's a kindness of God. He's doing us a favor by not just stepping in, doing everything for us. He. Well, first of all, he can't because we have the authority over our own lives. But not only that, it ushers us into to have a bold, strong, growing faith. Amen. So he didn't do everything for him. If you want to receive all God has for you, you can't do just what's convenient. Yeah, that's true. Now see, blind Bartimaeus is blind. He's in the middle of a crowd. He's got to find Jesus. A blind man's got to find Jesus. He's bumping into people, tripping over their stuff, you know, whatever. Notice he wasn't looking for just something convenient to receive his miracle. If people will only do what's convenient, they more than likely won't receive what God has because the devil will put opposition in the way of convenience. That's so true.
A
Amen.
B
Amen. There's so much opposition to faith that you're going to have to desire and hunger to reach past anything. I'm just not going to do what's convenient. I'll do what's inconvenient. I mean, there are people who have driven and traveled miles and miles and miles to get in a service where a man of God was ministering under God's power. They'll pay a great price. They'll do what's convenient. There are people. I mean, we have a precious couple in our church that they live an hour and a half away. They have driven for about. They have driven for around 30 years, an hour and a half, both ways. One way to come to church, an hour and a half. Another way back home, an hour and a half. They've done it for over 30 years to be part of a church that's called the Inconvenienced Themself. And then that man was diagnosed with cancer and. And he beat it. He's still alive today. It mattered that he inconvenienced himself because faith isn't looking for what's convenient. It's looking to lay hold of everything that belongs to it. Amen. What's that mean? Don't just go to a church that's close by. Go where God tells you to go. Even if it's inconvenient for you. I said, even if it's inconvenient for you. Because you never quite know what's all connected to where God tells you to be. I just tell you this. His best is connected to it. Amen. Hallelujah. You know, when we were growing up, I remember my mother taught me that you're supposed to be where you're supposed to be. And I grew up playing the organ in my local church. I started when I was in eighth grade playing the organ for our local church. And there were times I played it for the next five years until I left home. I didn't miss a service. I didn't miss a wedding. I didn't miss a funeral. I didn't miss a choir practice. I was at every event that called for me to be there. And I remember one morning I got up and I did not feel well. And I told Mother, I said, I'm sick. And she said, we only got one organist, and you're it. Meaning so what? That you're sick. And I'm so glad. My mother taught me to push past what was convenient and sometimes know this faith will move into the inconvenient. And I remember that morning I was not feeling well and I told her, I said, I'm sick. We only got one organist. You're itch. You're gonna be there. She taught me you have to go past your flesh if you're going to if you're gonna lay hold of what's right. Oh yes. So good. So I went to church. Oh my goodness. I felt bad. And I sat there and I played. I felt bad. I was probably changing colors. It didn't matter. I'm still playing the organs. And then in between the song service and playing, I knew I need to go to the restroom and be sick. And I did. And I came back and I just finished the service. I'm so glad that my mother taught me be where you ought to be. Amen. It's important to faith that you do not just what's convenient. Because I tell you there's so much opposition that the devil will throw in your way that if inconvenience stops you, the devil will rob from you. Amen. Well, some of these things we're teaching out of my book, the Healer Divine. We want you to get your copy of it. Go to our website@DefrainMinistries.org order that and we'll get it right out to you because these things are life changing. Amen. And until next time, remember this Jesus is the Healer. Episode: 107 | Blind Bartimaeus, Part 2
Date: November 29, 2022
Main Theme:
Nancy Dufresne continues teaching about the healing of blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52) to emphasize how faith, the spoken word, and persistence are vital to receiving what God has already provided—particularly healing and other blessings in Christ. She unpacks the importance of “calling” for what is already yours, being persistent despite opposition, and the role of mercy and compassion in both receiving and ministering to others.
“Say, I receive that power. I receive it right now. From the top of my head to the soles of my feet.” (00:14)
“If you hear the wrong thing, you’ll believe the wrong thing... hearing precedes healing…” (03:26)
“Why doesn’t God hurry up and heal me?... Why don’t we hurry up and hear?” (04:07)
“God won’t do anything uninvited... our faith is his invitation.” (06:13)
“Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.”
“The power of God keeps pace with our saying. The more we say it, the more we have it.” (07:27)
“Don’t call what you have, call what you want... Faith doesn’t call it as it is, it calls it as it desires it to be.” (08:33)
— Nancy Dufresne
“How long do I have to call? For the rest of your life.” (10:18)
“You are authorized to stop God from passing you by.” (12:41)
“Every day, miracles are coming to you or going past you.”
“Jesus stopped for a call. Jesus stopped for faith that called.” (14:56)
“Look to the Holy Ghost. He’ll direct you what verse to put in your mouth.” (17:39)
“There’s so much mercy that it takes day after day after day after day to hold it all.” (18:27)
“Don’t let those who aren’t calling tell you to be quiet. They weren’t blind.” (19:29)
“If there’s no one to help you, you and God are enough.” (21:15)
“Don’t leave your calling up to someone else… Don’t trust your miracle to someone else’s call. You call for yourself.” (21:40)
“When circumstances may arise and tell you that your faith isn’t working… get louder, call more, increase your calling.” (22:03)
“Faith will move into the inconvenient… it’s important to faith that you do not just what’s convenient.” (26:09)

This episode challenges listeners to take an active, relentless stance in faith, mirroring blind Bartimaeus—hearing the right word, persistently “calling” for what God has provided, and not allowing opposition, inconvenience, or the voices of others to dampen that call. Healing is available, but it’s voice-activated and must be received with personal faith and persistence. Compassion, both for others and oneself, is at the heart of the miracle-working flow of God’s mercy.
