There's enough power in every sick room and in every hospital room to raise up that sick one that may be describing you. You may be in a sick room, you may be in a hospital room. And I want to remind you, power is present. That power is there to do a work, believe in what's not. Try to get something, but notice that he's already made it yours. It's present right where you're at. Say, I receive that power. I receive that power. I receive it right now. I receive it right now from the top of my head. From the top of my head. The soles of my feet. The soles of my feet. Welcome. We're so glad to have you again with us today for Jesus the healer. And we are expecting that the Word is going to come alive in a way, that it becomes a living thing in our everyday life. A situation is not going to be the same because the Word is going to come into every situation of our life. Why? Because we're doers of the Word. We're taking that Word and we're putting it in place in our daily life. You know, the Word talks about us renewing our minds. Can I tell you that that is the lifelong profession of every believer? Renewing of the mind and the development of the human spirit. Those are the two things that every believer is assigned to for the rest of our life. And we never reach the end of it because the Word is a living thing and it keeps producing revelation. And so the more we open up the Word, the more revelation comes to us. And so we recognize that as we renew our minds with the Word. What does that look like? It looks like a change in our everyday life. That means that it's our minds aren't being renewed until we're living it. It's not just being able to quote what God says, it's not just being able to repeat what our pastor taught, but it's doing the Word every day that it governs every relationship, every conversation, the words of our mouth, the thoughts that we carry, the thoughts that we meditate on. And it will. It will change what our lives are producing. Amen. And so we're believing, God, that as you listen today, that you are handed more that of the Word that you can renew your mind with. Amen. And how many of you know nobody can renew your mind for you? Boy, we sure would like that to happen, wouldn't we? We'd like to just hand off our mind to somebody else. And say, I'm going to leave it here with you for about a week. When I pick it up, I'm going to expect big changes. Well, we get the privilege of doing that ourselves with the Word of God. And so since we have, let me just say it this way. Since we'll never get away from our mind, we might as have. Might as well have one we can live with. And that means we're going to renew it with the Word. We're going to give it what is renewing with the Word. We're giving it God's thoughts. We're bringing our thinking in line with His. And so we have, we counted a privilege to do that, and we never reach the end of it. I love something that dad Hagin used to say to us. Kenneth Hagin was the spiritual father to my husband and I for decades before he went home to be with the Lord. And he would say this to us. He'd say, your mind doesn't stay renewed any more than your hair stays combed. So that means every day we would put our hair in place. Hopefully, we put our hair back in place. And if we don't do it, others can tell it. Not only can we tell it, but others can tell it. And so when we are putting our thoughts in line with the Word of God every day, making sure they're lining up with God's Word, not only can we tell it, others can tell it. And when the Word is getting its proper place in our life, our life reflects that. And we need to recognize this, evaluate the fruit we're producing. You know, the Word tells us, examine yourself to see whether you're in the faith. It doesn't say, examine yourself to see whether you have faith, but are you in it? Because if you're born again, you have the measure of the God kind of faith. And that measure can be strengthened, that measure can be fortified, that measure can grow. But we have to make sure that it's not enough to say, I have it. Are we in the faith? And you say, well, Pastor Nancy, what's it mean to be in the faith? Can you have faith and not be in it? Well, you can have a house and not be in it. You can have a vehicle and not be in it. So just because you possess something doesn't mean you're drawing on it. It doesn't mean you're using it. It doesn't mean that you're partaking of it. And you know, Jesus rebuked his own disciples because as they were in the boat with him on an Occasion, remember Jesus said, let's go to the other side. And a storm came up while Jesus was in the boat with them, but he was asleep. And so a storm came. And a couple of those disciples, they were fishermen by profession before they joined with Jesus, they were used to living on the waters. They knew what to do in a storm. They knew how to protect that vessel in a storm. Well, they did all they knew to do and the boat was sinking. And so Peter woke up Jesus with these really faith filled words that said, master, carest thou not that we perish? And notice he got really miffed at Jesus and carest thou not? So he accused Jesus that you don't care. Why did he say you don't care? Because you're not acting like us. We're panicked. We're showing that we care. Well, I want you to know faith doesn't show that it cares by panic. Amen. Amen. And so Jesus was completely undisturbed. He got up, he spoke to the storm, spoke to the waves, everything went back into place. And he turned around and said to them, where was your faith? In other words, why didn't you handle this? Why did you wake me up to deal with it when you had the authority to do it? So what is this? They had faith and they weren't in it. That's so good. They didn't use it. That's what being in your faith means. Are you using it? Now think about this, that Jesus made this statement. He said, if you have faith the size of the grain of a mustard seed, you would say unto this mountain, now look at this. If you had faith, you would say, we have faith. So let's make sure we're saying amen. But he said, if you, if you have faith the size of a grain of mustard seed, which is one of the smallest seeds on earth, he said, you would say to this mountain, be thou removed, be thou cast into the sea. And what would happen, it would obey you. He's showing us the potency of faith. The potency of faith that is in its smallest form still has enough potency and power in it to change big things. So let's not lay aside that which carries that much potency. Let's get in our faith. How do we get in our faith? We speak. We speak. We speak. We have to have faith. Thoughts. Listen. There's no faith in your mind. There's none. Now the faith of God is in your spirit. That's this spring where your faith is going to flow out of. But the mind can be taught Faith thoughts. So we have to put in place faith thoughts. What will faith thoughts do? They will quit arguing with the faith in our heart. Because you can have faith in your heart. But if you let your mind, if I could say this, not be renewed, not take on faith thoughts, then the faith that's in your heart, your mind will argue against it. And then the faith that's in your heart can't get out because the mind won't let it. So we want our mind to agree with the faith in our heart, not argue against the faith in our heart. So what's that mean? We're renewing our minds, bringing our thoughts in line with the word of God so that our mind agrees with God instead of arguing with God, agreeing with God's word instead of arguing with it. So since we have this mind for the rest of our life and on into eternity, let's do the right thing with it. Amen. Let's not let it ruin our lives, trouble our lives. Let's take charge of it. Know this. Your spirit is the master. Your mind is to be your servant, and your body is to be the slave. You never let the servant and the slave take the lead. The master takes the lead. Your spirit is to be in the lead. And your mind is to serve your spirit. Your body is to serve your spirit. And so we have to keep those in their proper place. Well, if that's going to happen, we have to take on God's way of thinking. It is a work to renew the mind, but it is a joyous work. It's not a difficult work. Can I tell you what's a difficult work? Is living with an unrenewed mind. That's a difficult thing. But to live with a renewed mind is peace, it's joy. We do have to pay attention to our thought life. We have to cast down imaginations. And we have to become skillful at casting down imaginations. When we see this phrase, it's in Second Corinthians, chapter 10, verse 5. It says, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. So notice this. God gave you your imagination. So God intends that our imagination be used in a flow of blessing. What is our imagination for? What about imagining yourself with that supply in your hand? What about imagining yourself with your body working? What about imagining that, that business up and thriving that God has given you? What about imagining yourself in that home that God has for the family? You have to imagine the right things. But the devil wants to energize wrong Imaginations. So what do we do? Any imagination that is not in line with the word, that's not in agreement with God. We ca. But notice how I see this word. Cast it down. Casting down what an aggressive action that is toward a wrong thought, toward a wrong imagination. We have to be aggressive in how we handle wrong thoughts. You cannot pet them or coddle wrong thoughts. You can't give them a soft pillow at night and take them to bed with you. You cast them down, you kick them out. You have to be aggressive because wrong thought ruin your life. And recognize that wrong thoughts are not your friend. They're your enemy and you better treat them like an enemy. And the devil would like to softly present something. Sometimes the thoughts he suggests to our minds, they strike like fiery darts and they're very noticeable and they can strike with force. I mean, all of a sudden there can come a thought and it can almost, if I could say this, addle you to where you've got to stabilize yourself because something has struck the life that kind of took you off balance. And that's what I'd call a fiery dart. It strikes with force. And if that thing is not put out with the water of the word, the fiery dart will spread. And I found this out. When the devil is going to strike any arena, he's always going to include an attack on the mental arena. Because an attack physically on the physical body won't work as long as you think right? So the devil is going to attack the mind anytime he's going to attack any other arena. So you have to pay attention to what is going on in the thought life. Now we've been in this series talking about in Christ. I haven't changed flows here. We're still going to continue that way. But to live as one in Christ, we have to take charge of that thought life or we will be robbed of living the in Christ life. Amen. That's right. We'll live like a mere human if we don't change the way we think and demand that our thinking come in line with the word. I can't tell you the number of times when my mind was racing, trying to race, wanting to race. And I would speak to my mind and I'd say, mind you be at peace in Jesus name. I'd talk to my mind why it is my servant. Meaning if someone has someone that helps them in their home and they're taking on the role of a servant to help them in the home, they're going to wait for their command from the Master. The faith in your spirit, the word of God. In your spirit is to be the master. And it gives that servant a command. If that servant is not carrying out its proper role, it's the master's job to make sure that that servant's brought in line. Well, your spirit's job is to make sure that that mind is brought in line. You have to talk to it, you have to deal with it and forbid it to take off with your life. If a mind is left unguarded, it will run off in the wrong direction every time. Why? Because the devil will energize that wrong thinking. If we have. Many times people are thinking, I'm trying to get rid of thoughts. Sometimes we just have bad mental habits. And we will follow a mental habit of worrying, follow a mental habit of being critical, follow a mental habit of complaining. And if we allow those bad mental habits to stay in place, then the devil will energize them. But if we'll remove that bad mental habit, he's got nothing to energize. So notice that. That's why we cast it down with force. We are to take a strong negative action against a negative thought. And when I say negative action, it's negative to that wrong thought casting it down. Don't treat it lightly. Don't coddle yourself and say, well, I've been through a lot lately. That's why, no, you better cast that mess down. Do not coddle yourself and wrong thinking because it will get energized by the enemy and it will become a bigger problem than you thought. Whenever I've told this story before, but it's one of my favorites with my dad, you know, my dad was a cotton and wheat farmer. And I man, you put a farmer, you put a rancher out on the land. There's nothing they can't make happen on that land. They will never be at a deficit when they're in their element, they never will. I remember we went fishing one time, my sister and my dad and I. And on his property he had a creek. And so we would go out and there. There were catfish in that. In that creek. And we would set out what we call bank poles. And you would just get a stick and you'd tie a string on it, put a hook on it and just put bait. And we'd just line them up all down the creek. And you didn't have to hold them, we would just put them out. And then the next morning we'd go out in the boat and we would just go down the creek and just take all the fish off the hook. And so we just set off that. And I remember we were setting them one night, and I said, daddy, we're out of bait. Now. See, my sister and I, you know, we brought legitimate bait. You know what I'm talking about? Fancy, prepackaged bait. And he said. He looked at us with sarcasm or disdain or, you know, disappointment. And he said, baby, we are never out of bait. You don't tell a farmer he's out of bait. And so he went and got his shotgun out of his pickup and he killed him, a critter out there on the field and cut that thing up, right? And then loaded on the hook. What is that? A farmer can always make it happen. A rancher's. They're always gonna make it happen. You put them in their element thing. Always make it happen. And so I love harping back to these things about my dad, because there was never a time that he couldn't find something to make it work. And we were. We had gone fishing with Daddy one time. We were on a different spot, and we were on a bigger body of water, and my mother was there, my sister and I. And then my dad and I don't remember if there was anyone else in the boat, but we had. There was a little, like, rowboat. It didn't have an engine on it or anything. It was just a metal little fishing boat that was flipped over on its. It was flipped on its. You know, on its top. The belly side was up, and it was just laying there by the water. And so we flipped it over, and we all got in it, and we just got the oars and paddled out to the middle of the water. And in the corner of my eye, I go, I saw something moving over there. And it weren't a fish. It wasn't something we invited into the boat. And I looked and I go, yeah, that's what I thought. It was a big rat. And, you know, it was living healthy. It was a big boy. And so immediately my feet went up. You know, there's a couple of benches across that fishing boat. My feet went up. Just so long as you don't touch my feet, we're fine. But, of course, that boat went to a point at one end, and so that rat had gone up under that point. And so, you know, I will say this. We weren't ever too dramatic. Mother wouldn't put up with that. So we just picked up our feet and just sat there. We didn't scream. We didn't rock the boat. We just pick up Your feet. Keep the rat off your feet. You're good, you know. And then Daddy got down, pulled out his pocket knife. Every good farmer got a pocket knife. And he pulled out his pocket knife and he went down to that end, that corner. And because there was a big bench, a seating area across the point of that, you couldn't see where the rat was. You know, he was kind of hidden underneath this seat at the front there. So Daddy just, you know, he didn't try to see. He just started going like this, you know, under that seat with the pocket knife. Have no mercy on the rat. Don't feel bad for the rat. It's a rat. And so Daddy's going like this to see if he makes contact. And he makes contact. He feels like he felt something. So he drags, you know what he made contact. And so Daddy had gotten that rat in the hind leg, and so he pulled him out and then he picked him up and grabbed him by the tail. He got him a tail. So the girls, we're all just rowing back over to the shore, and Daddy gets out and he takes that rat by that tail and he goes over to a flat rock and he winds that thing up and he go, bam. You know, we're going to make contact. When I think of this, Second Corinthians, chapter 10, verse 5, casting down imagination, that's exactly the force I think about. I don't think about, oh, I shouldn't think that, or, no, I don't want that thought. I see someone aggressive and says, this thing's not going to live again. This thing's not going to come back and run into my life again. You cast it down with full purpose of cutting that thing off. And unless you do that, you're going to struggle at walking out who you are in Christ, because who you are in Christ puts you in authority. And you're going to have to use that authority. If you lay down your authority, you will never fully enjoy who you are in Christ. The Word tells us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Can I tell you the Word also makes this statement? Jesus said, even. Well, Paul in writing said, even as he is, so are we in this world. Well, where is Jesus right now, as he is right now? He's seated at the right hand of the Father. What is at the seat of authority? That's the place that we have been raised to because we're in Christ. What is Jesus doing in that seat of authority? He's ruling and reigning. So what are we in Christ? Supposed to be doing ruling and reigning. What are we ruling and reigning over? Not other people, but over the circumstances of our life, over our world, over things pertinent to our life. Part of that ruling and reigning flow is taking charge of your thought life. If we're not taking charge of our thought life, then we are going to be pushed around in this life instead of us ruling and reigning in this life. Worry means something other than the Word is pushing you around. Fear means something else is doing your thinking for you other than the word. To be depressed means something else is taking charge of your thought life. So it is up to us to make sure we keep those things out. And we have to be aggressive. We have to. I say it this way, it's maybe not very nice way to say it, but I say you have to get mean and ugly against certain thoughts. If you just, if you just do a half hearted effort, the devil will take, he'll take full advantage of that. When you're in charge, you have to know you're in charge and you have to be in charge. And if we don't respond that way to our thought life, when are we going to start doing that? You know, I've talked, I've pastored for over 25 years and I would encourage people, I would say, listen, you've been troubled by depression for years. When are you going to do something about that? When are you going to do something about that? Now I know this baby. Christians don't always know they have to be taught. But when somebody's heard the Word, we're going to have to not coddle ourselves and we're going to say, wait a minute, how long am I going to put up with this? Because no pastor can do something about it for you, no spouse can do something about it for you. No prayer team can do something about your mind for you. Can I tell you this? Even God can't do something about your mind if you won't take his word and do something with it. Because he has given us all we need to be successful in the mental arena. What do we need? We need His Word and we need to exercise our authority. I remember years ago, I've talked to you about it much because it's so important to me to share my experiences with you. Because that's where I learned the Word. That's where I learned to do the Word. Can I tell you this? The Word doesn't become revelation to anybody until they get it for themselves. You have to face things yourself and successfully apply the Word. Now what I'M sharing with you is what God made revelation to me, but it's not revelation to you until you live it, until you're faced with situations and you apply the Word. And I lived. My husband was a precious, powerful man of God. And I had a. I had a rare privilege to live with a man that was of his spiritual caliber. But even he could not do what only I could do for my own spiritual life, my own mental life, my own physical life. Others cannot do for you what you can, what God's authorized you to do for yourself. Now, others can encourage you, they can pray with you, they can help strengthen you, but they cannot do the actual doing. And I remember going through one particular test, and it lasted for a season. And in that, I could not sleep. And I was in my 20s at the time. And so, you know, almost 40 years ago, over 40 years ago at the time. And I remember getting up and just staring out the window in the middle of the night. I thought, I've done everything I know to do. And there's no seeming relief. So I know I'm doing it wrong. I know I am. I never accused God and his Word of not working. I just would be frustrated with myself for not doing it right. And my husband came down. He got up early that morning, and he came down and I said, just put your hands on me and pray. And he did. And he walked off. And God said to me, he said, if you're going to listen to everything the devil tells you, he'll steal from you everything I've ever blessed you with. And I thought, my, my, my. I'm in this. I feel like a great fight in my life. And God is not speaking coddling words. He's speaking strong words. Why? Because he knows it's not weakness that'll win in this. And I realized I was failing because I was listening to the wrong thought instead of. I can't stop wrong thoughts from coming, but I can certainly stop from listening to them. And that's where I was missing it. I thought I was trying to stop the wrong thoughts from coming, but I realize it's not my job to stop them from coming. It's my job to ignore them when they come. Amen. A disciplined thought. Life. Well, it's part of our life in Christ. It's part of who we are in Christ. We're in charge. We're in charge. We take his word and we rule and reign over every arena of life. Amen. Well, we invite you to make sure you're joining us next time because we're going to keep going this direction. And until next time, remember this Jesus is the healer. God bless you.

Date: July 7, 2025
Theme:
Nancy Dufresne continues her in-depth teaching on what it means to live "In Christ," with this episode focusing on the ongoing, practical discipline of renewing the mind, exercising personal spiritual authority, and refusing to tolerate negative thoughts or mental habits that hinder walking out the “in Christ” life. The episode is rich in encouragement, illustrative stories, and practical faith principles, aimed at helping believers claim the transformation and authority that belong to them in Christ.
Nancy’s tone is straightforward, practical, and empathetic, often infused with humor and memorable personal stories. She encourages with clarity but does not coddle, urging believers to take personal responsibility for their mental and spiritual health in Christ.
