There's enough power in every sick room and in every hospital room to raise up that sick one that may be describing you. You may be in a sick room, you may be in a hospital room. And I want to remind you, power is present. That power is there to do a work, believe in what's not. Try to get something, but notice that he's already made it yours. It's present right where you're at. Say, I receive that power. I receive that power. I receive it right now. I receive it right now from the top of my head. From the top of my head. The soles of my feet. The soles of my feet. Welcome. We're so glad you're joining us today for Jesus the Healer. And we are still enjoying ourselves in the midst of this series that we've been on for a while. My goodness. We're almost, I don't know, close to 40 episodes. Not quite at 40. Just on this topic. And we're talking about who we are in Christ and who he is in us. But really, what responsibility does that put on us? Because sometimes we think because Christ is in us that he's automatically going to work for us. No, it's our faith that gives him permission to work. And so although he is in us, we must still employ who is in us. What's that mean? We must invite him to move. Remember what it says. The Word says, in all your ways, acknowledge him and he will direct your paths. Notice this. In all your ways, acknowledge Him. What's that mean? On our side, we have to do something. And then it says, and when we acknowledge him, then he'll direct our path. So when we initiate something, he will respond to what we initiate. So we think many times just in our own human thinking, and not scriptural thinking, but human thinking, we think because he's in us, he'll automatically go to work for us. Well, he's in us to work for us. But we cannot bypass inviting him to work, leaning on him, acknowledging him, responding to Him. We have to invite the One we're filled with to work. We have to open the door to him with our faith. Now know this. It's not faith that heals us. It's faith that opens the door to the healer to heal us. Right. We are saved by grace through faith. It's not faith that saves us. Grace saves us. But faith opened the door for grace to flow. Well, it's the same thing with healing. It's the same thing with prosperity, it's not our faith that does the work, but our faith opens the door to the one who does the work. Remember what Jesus said. He said, my Father in me, he does the work. So our. What is our faith? Our faith is. Is the door greeter says, God, come on in, supply, Come on in, healing. Come on in. I love something that Dr. Bill Winston says. He makes this statement. He says, your faith is your servant. Well, what does a servant do? A servant is there to open the door. When there's a knock on the door, the servant opens that. And so faith is our servant. And the number one thing that our servant of faith does is it opens the door to the power of God. It opens the door, door to the healing power of God. Now notice this. Even though Christ is in us, we are filled with Him. He's in us to work. We must still respond to who's in us, because he will not automatically go to work without our permission. And it's our faith that gives him permission. Now, we were saying this in the previous episode. Since God knows everything, he knows what we have need of, why doesn't he just move in our behalf when he sees that we have a need? And I've made this statement in times past, but it's so important for us to recognize is knowledge does not equal permission. So for example, if you were sitting next to someone in church and the pastor says, we're going to receive our tithes and offerings this morning, and the person sitting next to you pulls out their wallet and you glance over and you, you can't help but seeing, hey, there's money in their wallet. Well, you know it's in there. You see that it's in there. But just because you know, it is not permission to take it, right? Knowledge does not equal permission. God knows. Jesus told us this. God knows what you have need of. Even before you ask, notice this. He knows what you have need of. His knowledge is not your permission or permission. You giving him permission to work in behalf of what he knows you need. So what's that mean? We have to be skillful at putting the Christ in us to work. Amen. In him we live, in him we move. And in him we have our being. Is what Acts chapter 17 says. Remember this. In him we live, in him we move, and in him we have our being. Do you know that all that movement is invited movement? We have to invite his movement into every situation, you know, because sometimes we will invite him to move in one arena of our life and not depend on him for Another arena. We have to invite him in every single arena. We can invite him to work as healer in our body and then decide, I'll handle my finances myself. Well, if we will invite him to work, that's the arena, and that's only the arena. He will move in. He will. If I could say it this way. If an arena of our life was a room in a home, you know, we have the spiritual arena, the mental arena, the physical arena, the material arena. Then you have this, the arena of relationships, don't you? A husband and wife, an employer, an employee. In these different arenas of our life, if each one of them was a room. Say about this. If you had someone knock at the door of your house and you open the door and there's a guest standing there, and you take them into your living room, you would not. They would not have the liberty if you said, here, have a seat here, that they don't just get up and walk in your bedroom uninvited. They don't. The etiquette of that is a no, no. Right. You don't presume to go into a room of someone else's house uninvited, Right? But when you're a guest, you wait for the host to invite you into rooms. God's the same way. He abides. But he has to be invited into each room or each arena of your life to move there. And it's faith that gives him permission to come into those arenas. Amen. But what does that mean? Don't just think because he's in the house that we have allowed him into every room of our life because he will not automatically work and move without invitation. So this is part of a skill we must recognize as one who's filled with Christ, that we have to allow the one we're filled with into the different flows and places of our life, into the different situations. And it's our faith that opens the door to say, come on into this room and work in this arena. Work in my financial arena. If I could say this. We don't just say to guests, move in any part of the house you want. You know, we don't just give that general direction, but we invite them into each room. And the honor of God is so great, he will never bypass etiquette. And there is an etiquette to God. And it is. What is it? It's his honor will not allow him to assume something. So what we have to do is make sure that. Wait a minute. I invited him to move and work in my behalf in this situation. That showed up in my life last week, but I didn't invite him to move this week or today in this situation. Just because he moved last week and met my need to does not mean I have involved him in today's need. Right. So that's the part of the skill of being in Christ. We have to employ him, invite him, open the door to him, to move and work in every single arena and in every situation. Now, that's what the Word says. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will direct your path. Only the way that you acknowledge him in, that's only the way he can help you in. If we didn't acknowledge him in our financial way, he can't help us in the financial way, even if we acknowledged him in the physical way, inviting him to work in our physical body. So the arena he's acknowledged in is the arena he works in? Yes. Now, only the part of the Word that we acknowledge is the part that we will benefit from. All of the Word belongs to us. All the blessings of the Lord belong to us. But it's only the part we acknowledge that we'll partake of. If we do not honor him as healer, he can't work as healer in our life. If we don't honor him as provider, he can't work as provider, even though he is all of that. He can only work where he's acknowledged and he can only be to us what we acknowledge him to be. He is healer, he is provider, but he's only that to us when we acknowledge him as that. For us now, this is part of the skill of moving as one in Him. We have to acknowledge him every single day. Acknowledge him, Acknowledge him into the arenas where you need him, open the door to him to work in those arenas. How are you going to do that? You're going to have to say something. You can't just think it. You can't just think, wow, I hope God works for me on behalf of this. No, you have to invite him with your words because he will not move automatically just because he indwells you.

When we were growing up, four kids were in the household. Mother would tell us very specifically what she expected of us. I cannot tell you the number of times she's getting ready to leave the house. And she'd say, by the time I get back home, this house better be clean. And then she would just say, the kitchen better be clean. Your bedrooms better be clean. You better have this family room cleaned up. There better not be in dishes laying around, you know. And she would Start stating stuff. Why? Because when she stated it, then we knew what she expected of us. And she made it very clear that just because we didn't. Let me just lay this. We did not say, oh, the house is dirty, let me clean it for my mother. None of us were children. I don't ever remember us doing that. Right. We did not assume to do any more than she requested of us. But even so, don't assume that God is moving just because he's in the house. He has to be invited or faith has to give him permission. Amen. And the more we give him permission, the more we're demonstrating the skill of who he is in us and who we are in Him. Now, I want to read. We've been using in this series the golden text of what we could call it, I.e. colossians 2, 6. The living Bible reads this way. And now, just as you trusted Christ to save you, look at this. You did something in his direction. You trusted Christ to save you. He did not save you till you trusted him to save you. He didn't save you because you needed saving. He saved you because you trusted him to save you. Amen. What's this mean? Even though he is Savior to every human, every human has a Savior, but they still must receive him as Savior. He cannot be to them Savior until they acknowledge him as Savior. So this is what I'm saying. This is part of the skill of in Christ, learning to acknowledge every day, acknowledge who he is. Father, today you're in me to work. I put you to work. Amen. I remember I called. I called one minister one time. I had a certain financial decision that I had peace about making this decision. It was regarding ministry. It was a decision worth several millions of dollars. And this was new territory to me at that time. And that meant that I would have to make a very bold step. And so I had peace about it. But you know what? God has put some precious people in my life, not to lead me, but to be a safeguard. What would we call it? A safety net under us. And it was new territory for me, and I wanted to talk to someone who had been there. So I had it in my heart what I would do. I did not ask them what should I do. I just called them and said, have you ever taken this step? And told them the step that I was considering taking because I had peace about doing it? And he said, yes, I've done that before. And I said, is that a sound decision? And he said, absolutely, it's a sound decision. And I said, to him that will empty out every one of our ministry bank accounts to do that. And he said, nancy, give God a job. What was the job? Fill those accounts back up now, every day. Give God a job. That's what I wanted to say to you. Give God a job. The Christ in you, you have to employ him. Let him know what it is you have faith for him to do for you and through you and in you. Just because he's in there, he's not going to automatically work. He has to have our involvement, our agreement, and our faith that opens the door to him every day for every. Every project, every need, every circumstance. So we have to be detailed in our. In our acknowledging him. We can't just say, I acknowledged you last month. I mean, I expected you to keep working. No, that's not how it works any more than with, you know, an employee does not know what the employer expects of them until the employer specifies it. And it's not even fair to expect an employee to carry out a duty that was never communicated well. Even so, faith, it takes faith to communicate to God what we're believing him to do. And anytime we release faith, just know this. Every time you release faith, power always starts moving. Power always meets faith. But you still have to release your faith. How do you do it? You acknowledge him, Father, today this showed up in my life. I'm not leaning on me for the answer on them. I'm leaning on you. And you know what? There's multiple decisions in the day that we must make. And just say, father, I'm not asking you to make the decision. I'm asking you to lead me in the decision I'm to make. He's not making your decisions for you, but he's leading you in the wisdom that he gives. And when you can either accept that wisdom or decline that wisdom, we can either follow his lead or decline to follow his lead. I remember years ago, a pastor was telling about a congregation had given him a gift one year. And I thought it was so insightful in the congregation, they paid attention to what their pastor enjoyed. And he loved race cars. He loved fast stuff, you know, and so for a gift one year, they got him a. I don't know how to say it. They got him a gift to where he got to drive a professional race car on a professional track, driving with professional race car drivers. So I don't know what that is called, but that for him, it was called a good time. And so. And so when he went to the racetrack that day, it was not just other Public people. It was professional race car drivers. And they gave him a lead car. And that is they. They gave him a race car, showed him how to. How to drive it. You know, how that particular vehicle worked. But then they put a pace car in front of him, a lead car for him to follow. And the man driving the pace car said to him, he said, this is my profession. He says, I'm topping my fields in my field. I know this racetrack. He said, I know the lay of this racetrack. I know when to go high on it. I know when to go low on it. I know when to accelerate. I know when to slow down on it. He said, you don't know this track like I know this track. He said, you do not have to know the track. I know it. Now listen to that. You don't have to know it. I know it. So I will get in the lead, and if you will follow me, you will look like you know it as well as I do. Amen. He said, if I accelerate, you accelerate. He said, if I slow down, you slow down. If I go high on the track, you go high on the track. Don't stay low if I'm going high. He said, get on my bumper. Don't follow at a distance. You stay right on my bumper. And he said, because I know how fast I can go on this track. You don't. He said, I know. So if you will stay right on my bumper, you will move into my level of skill. Now, notice that he would move into his knowledge, right? This pastor didn't have the knowledge of that track, of that course, but the professional did. And so when he followed the professional, he said, this pastor said, I got on his bumper. And he. And this is another thing that the professional driver said to him. He said, at times, it's going to seem like you can't take the turn at the speed we're taking it. But he said, if I can take it at that speed, you can take it at that speed. So he said, I know what speed to be at on every turn. Sometimes I'll accelerate, sometimes I won't. And he said, trust what I know about this track. So the pastor said, I got on his bumper, and he said, there were times I thought, oh, we're going too fast to make that curve. And he said, but I remembered what he said. If I can make it, you can make it. So he said, I just did exactly what he did. He said, if he went low on the track, I went low. He went high on the track, I did. He sped up or he slowed down. He said, I did exactly what he did. And he said when we finished, he told me, he said, no civilian, I guess you would call it, has ever clocked the time you just clocked. He said, you clocked professional race car time. A driver, you clocked the same time. Yet what was it? It wasn't the skill of the pastor. It was the skill to follow. Amen. Ah. It wasn't his driving skills only involved. It was his following skills. And so when we follow Christ in us, when we follow the greater one, he makes us look every bit as good as he is. This pastor looked like a professional. And the pastor said that there were other professionals coming out on the race car track afterwards and saying, we've not seen a non professional do what you did. Because usually they're timid. You know, they're hesitant, they pull back. But the pastor understood some spiritual things, and it was the law about following. If you follow well, you finish well. If you follow poorly, you finish poorly. Now, that means this. That pastor could have chosen to fall behind on that racetrack. He could have chosen to slow down. He could have chosen to shorten the time he was going to be in the race. He could have just pulled off to the side and says, I'm done. This is too much for me. I don't want to do this. This is too fast for me. These turns are too hard for me. He could have decided to pull off, and that's up to him. Why? Because the one in the lead does not determine how the one behind follows. The Holy Ghost doesn't determine how we follow. We do. He will not force us to follow him. How well that pastor finished was the pastor's choice, not the professional driver's choice. It was the follower's choice. The Holy Spirit always leads, right? He knows. He knows the track, baby. He knows the course. He knows. He knows when to navigate around something. He knows when to avoid something. He knows when to drive right through something. If we will find follow him, we will be as successful as God himself. As Christ in us, it's all about how well we follow. Now, this is what is so important. As one in Christ, we are invited to follow the one who knows it all. Yes. Now, when we're following, what would it, what would it look like if that pastor said, well, I know that I can't go that high on the track, so I'm going to go low. Everybody would know this man puts what he thinks above what the professional knows. And they would know he's not skillful. Well, this is what sometimes we can end up doing if we're not careful. I know what I ought to do in this situation and not even look to the pace car, the Holy Ghost in front of us, to see which direction or how he took that turn, you see? And just know this. Just because he's in the lead doesn't mean we're following. Well, it's up to us to follow. Well, when God planned a deliverer for the Hebrews, Pharaoh gave out an edict, and that was all. The Hebrew baby, the male babies, they're to be slaughtered. Well, Moses, Mama said, hmm, not in my house. And so she had a plan to rescue her baby. And she made a basket. She sent him down the Nile River. And it just so happened. Listen, this was not some lazy river on some lazy afternoon, the basket just floating by. This was a river of industry. And this was where there was a lot of activity. There were critters in the water. It was a place of great danger. And she had faith enough to put him in that flow. And heaven, no doubt, had something to do with where it arrived. Because that basket arrived at Pharaoh's own backyard. And Moses was taken out of the basket and raised in the house of the man who commanded the killing of these Hebrew babies. But notice what God. What? Excuse me, what? Miriam, who is Moses, sister, the mother of Moses, told Miriam, follow the basket. Miriam had something to do with the outcome of the freedom of God's people because she did one job well. She followed the basket. What was it? She knew where it went. She. She kept an eye on it. She tracked it, she traced it so that she knew where it arrived. It didn't matter that God delivered that basket to the back door of Pharaoh if no one had followed to know where he arrived. But because she followed well, a savior was raised up for the people. And she was able to play her part. Listen, too many times, we think it's all about God doing something for us, when it's really about us following. Well. Amen. Well, Christ is in us. Why? Because he intends to lead us. And so let's follow. Let's acknowledge that he's in the lead. And let's not go do our own thing. We need to follow Him. Amen. Well, we're going to keep teaching along these lines. And until next time, remember this. Jesus is the healer. God bless you.

Episode 797 | In Christ I Can, Part 37
Date: July 22, 2025
Host: Nancy Dufresne (B)
Produced by: Dufresne Ministries
This episode continues Nancy Dufresne’s teaching series on "In Christ I Can," exploring the practical responsibilities and privileges of being "in Christ." Nancy emphasizes the importance of intentionally inviting Jesus, through faith, to operate in every area of a believer's life, rather than simply assuming His indwelling presence will automatically meet every need. The central message is about cultivating the skill of acknowledging and following Christ actively to release God’s power and guidance.
Nancy reminds listeners that Christ’s presence within does not guarantee He will automatically act on their behalf. Instead, believers must exercise their faith to give Him permission to move, likening faith to a "door greeter" or "servant."
“It’s not faith that heals us. It’s faith that opens the door to the healer to heal us.” — Nancy Dufresne [02:54]
God’s knowledge of our needs does not equal automatic intervention.
"Knowledge does not equal permission." — Nancy Dufresne [04:43]
The analogy of a guest in a house: just as a host invites a guest into each room, believers must invite God into each “room” or area—spiritual, physical, financial, relational—of their life individually.
"He abides, but he has to be invited into each room or each arena of your life to move there. And it’s faith that gives him permission to come into those arenas." — Nancy Dufresne [08:12]
Past victories do not guarantee present involvement; continual, daily invitation is needed.
Only the part of God’s Word we actively recognize and acknowledge will work for us; unacknowledged blessings remain untapped.
“All the blessings of the Lord belong to us. But it’s only the part we acknowledge that we’ll partake of.” — Nancy Dufresne [10:01]
The process is active, not passive: "You’re going to have to say something. You can’t just think it." [10:50]
Nancy shares her childhood experience, emphasizing that the extent of the mother’s instruction defined the children's responsibilities—mirroring how God needs believers' specific invitation to act.
“Don’t assume that God is moving just because he’s in the house. He has to be invited, or faith has to give him permission.” — [12:53]
A mentor’s advice when Nancy faced a significant ministry expenditure:
“Nancy, give God a job. Fill those accounts back up… Every day, give God a job.” — Advice recalled by Nancy [17:40] This underscores the principle of continually communicating to God the specific areas where faith is being released.
Nancy shares a story of a pastor who successfully followed a professional race car driver’s lead, clocking a professional time by "staying on the bumper" and mimicking the expert’s moves.
“If I can take it at that speed, you can take it at that speed.” — Professional Driver (as retold) [21:00]
“If you follow well, you finish well. If you follow poorly, you finish poorly.” — Nancy Dufresne [24:10]
Nancy recounts the story of Moses in the bulrushes, highlighting that Miriam’s assigned job—following the basket—was crucial to Israel’s deliverance. The point: God's miraculous work is completed through our faithful following.
"The Holy Ghost doesn’t determine how we follow. We do. He will not force us to follow him." — Nancy Dufresne [25:30]
On Faith and Permission
“It’s not our faith that does the work, but our faith opens the door to the one who does the work.” [03:45]
On Daily Acknowledgement
“Just because he moved last week and met my need does not mean I have involved him in today’s need.” [09:38]
On Following the Holy Spirit
“If you follow well, you finish well. If you follow poorly, you finish poorly.” [24:10]
On God’s Etiquette
“The honor of God is so great, he will never bypass etiquette. And there is an etiquette to God.” [08:45]
Race Car Analogy Summary
“This pastor looked like a professional. …It wasn’t the skill of the pastor. It was the skill to follow.” [23:40]
Nancy Dufresne urges listeners to go beyond mere awareness of Christ’s indwelling; they must develop the daily skill of actively inviting and following Him in every domain of life. This approach opens doors for God’s power and wisdom to operate. Mastery comes not simply from believing, but diligently acknowledging, inviting, and following Christ—moment by moment, decision by decision.
Key Takeaway:
Your faith is not a passive possession but an active invitation for God to move in specific areas of your life. Follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance closely, inviting Him daily, and He will lead you to success and blessing in every arena.
