There's enough power in every sick room and in every hospital room to raise up that sick one that may be describing you. You may be in a sick room, you may be in a hospital room. And I want to remind you, power is present. That power is there to do a work, believe in what's not. Try to get something, but notice that he's already made it yours. It's present right where you're at. Say, I receive that power. I receive that power. I receive it right now.

Top of my head. From the top of my head. The soles of my feet. The soles of my feet. Welcome. We're so glad you're joining us today for Jesus the healer. We have been enjoying ourselves so much on the Word, and I tell you, there's no greater joy than feeding on the Word because it always produces when it gets our cooperation. And thank God for the Word. It gives us a whole different life than what this world offers us. And so we're, we're so grateful for the Word, but thank you for taking the time to feed along with us and study along with us. And we invite you get hold of something to take notes on, get your Bible and follow along with us. We have been on this series which is in Christ, and so we have over 65 episodes in this. And my goodness, we just feel like we're just scratching the surface because there's so much to it, but still we're just learning and we just keep learning more and more and more. And we just appreciate that you're hungry for the Word and you're going with us on this time of study. We were on a previous episodes and we were in the previous episode rather we were referring to Matthew chapter five. And we're going to continue this direction in this path passage. We're going to look again at Matthew, chapter five. And starting in verse 43, when we read this, we have to understand something. We have a choice that in our everyday life, are we going to operate as one in Christ or one outside of Christ? Because if we're going to operate in Christ, all things are possible with God, all things are possible outside of who we are in Christ. Impossibilities prevail, but we can choose to live a different life just by saying, you know what? I'm going to think as one in Christ. I'm going to speak as one in Christ, and I'm going to respond as one in Christ. I'm not going to go back to the old man, the old way of operating. What's that mean? I'm not going to look to my flesh to find my highest response. My highest response is not going to originate from my flesh flesh, but it's going to originate from my spirit, where. Where the Godhead dwells. Amen. And we are temples of the Holy Ghost. And God lives in us, he abides in us. And we're going to draw from who he is in us. So that we don't draw on that lower nature, just that flesh that. That. If I could say this, just living out of our feelings, because all of that will fall short of what God offers us. And so we have been te teaching along these lines and preaching along these lines of in Christ. And I say this, that in Christ, if we're not careful, all we're going to focus on is the great, the privileges, the benefits. And listen, there are so many, they are vast. To have complete provision, to have total health, to have peace, to have joy. But can I tell you, to live in Christ. We also get to draw on the love of God for unlovely situations. So we have to make sure we don't just want the parts that are appealing to the natural man, but we're going to take all of it, meaning this, that we're going to walk in love when others don't. And so it puts a demand on us that we make sure that we're drawing on who we are in Christ at every place in life. Now let's go again to Mark, chapter 5, verse 43. Jesus is speaking and he makes this statement. He said, you have heard that it has been said, thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy. What does this verse show us? That to walk in human love, you're going to just be equaling other people's actions. You, if they treat you good, you'll treat them good, but if they treat you bad, you'll treat them bad. That's the level of human love. That's all human love is capable of. But since you're born again and the life of God, the nature of God is on the inside of you. Not only is his nature there, but in his nature is a love nature. So he gave us his own faith, he gave us his own love. And the Word tells us that the love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts. Now notice this. The love of God, not the love, not just human love. God's own love is on the inside of us in Christ. His love is ours. Not that he simply loves us, but he does, for he does. But he has given us his love so we can spend his love on others. And we don't just try to spend human love on others. Because since his love has come in us, we're not any more authorized to draw on human love. Because human love is not of the new creature in Christ. Human love will fail in the face of adversity. But we have God's own faith in us. But we also have God's own love. And for God's own faith, which is a divine faith, for it to function, for it to operate, it has to be fueled by divine love. Human love is no companion to divine faith. Divine faith can only be joined and fueled by divine love. Because human love does not have the stuff to send divine faith forward. It takes divine love to do that. Now, the difference between human love is what I just said. Human love is going to equal what somebody else does to it. But divine love is we equal. God and others would say, well, just say this. Human love will say, you treat me bad, I treat you bad. You treat me good, I treat you good. But divine love is, I love you regardless of how you treat me. Because divine love is not equaling others. It's drawing on God himself. And so, since we're in Christ, we have to draw also on the divine love that's on the inside of us. And it's going to change the way we conduct ourselves in our marriage, we bring divine love to it in our place of employment, we bring divine love to it in every setting. When we're with relatives, we operate by divine love. When we're with people that we don't know, we operate by divine love. Because divine love is now what defines the new creature in Christ. That's our drawing place. So Jesus, In Matthew, chapter 5, verse 43, he says, you have heard that it has been said, thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy. That's a description of human love. But verse 44 is what belongs to us now. Jesus said, but I say unto you, love your enemies. Uh oh, there you go. That's the assignment of divine love. That's in you. Now. You say, but I don't want to love my enemies. Well, in Christ, you can love your enemies. In Christ, you will want to love your enemies. If you will choose to love your enemies, then the desire to love your enemies will also show up, because divine love will respond so differently than how human love responds. So in verse 44, again, Jesus said, but I say Unto you love your enemies. And then he tells us what loving our enemies looks like. Number one, you bless them that curse you. That means with your mouth. When they curse you or say unlovely things with their mouth, you're going to respond with lovely things coming out of your mouth. You don't equal their words, but you equal divine words. So you're going to speak good words even in the face of them speaking bad words. Then the next phrase says, you're going to do good to them that hate you. So now it's not enough to just speak blessing words. Now we're going to take on actions of blessing. We're going to do good. That means we're going to have an action in connection with this divine love, so we do good to them that hate us. And number three, pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you. So what's this mean? Now? We're going to take them into God's presence with us. Why? Because in the presence of God, their life is going to get ministered to. His presence is going to help make all the difference for them as well as us. So know this. To love your enemies, number one, you have to say good. Number two, you have to do good. And number three, you have to pray good. You have to pray something good for them. Jesus demonstrated that when he was arrested, when he was beaten, when he was crucified. He said, father, forgive them, for they don't know what they're doing. What was he saying? He says, they don't know the harvest they're going to get on this. So I pray for them that you forgive them so they don't get a harvest on this seed that they're sowing against your plan. Why? Because heaven was sowing. Jesus, who is the seed of heaven into the earth and the actions of the people, he did not want them to receive a harvest on their actions. He wanted them to receive a harvest of the seed heaven sowed for them. So what are we going to do? We say this, Father, forgive them. They don't know what they're doing and we don't say it. In a way forgive them because they don't know what they're doing. No, we say we don't want them to get the harvest on the seed they've sown against our life. So Father, we know this. If they do something bad, say something bad against my life, they're going to get a harvest on that. And I don't want them to get a harvest of a bad crop. And you say But I do. No, we don't want to. You want to know why? Because you don't want to receive a harvest on the bad things you've done in your life. And I know I don't. And so we're going to have to recognize if people knew the damage that they bring to their own lives, to their family, and to their future by saying wrongly against God's people, speaking wrongly, doing wrongly. They would never do it if they realized the harvest they'd get. But we many times will recognize that it's going to be difficult for them by what they're doing. And I don't want them to reap that. And so you pray for them that they. That that harvest be aborted of that seed they've sown against you or against someone else. Father, I want to forgive them because I don't want them to get a harvest on the things they've done, just like you've forgiven me. And I have not had to reap the harvest of things done because you forgave me so. Notice verse 44. Jesus is telling us this is the response of divine love. Verse 43 is the response of human love. But verse 44 is the response of divine love. Now, when Jesus gives us his command that we're to love our enemies, and then he gives us the three ways that that's demonstrated in this verse, what's he doing? He's putting a demand on us to draw on who we are in Christ. He is helping us to become skillful at living based on the divine One in us. I think one of the best examples of someone drawing on the divine love that I've ever heard is from the life of Corrie Ten Boom. Now, Corrie Ten Boom, her and her family lived in Holland, and they were Christians. It was. They all lived together. Her and her sister were unmarried, and they had grown up. They were in their 40s and 50s at the time of World War II. So it was her father, her and her sister and her brother that all lived together. I believe the mother was no longer living, but it was the four of them. And when they heard that Jews were being put in concentration camps and being shipped out and being put in concentration camps, they were rescuing Jews. They were sending them to other places so that they could be kept safe. And they had used their home as a safety place. And so in this, they also kept records of the people that had come through their home, where they had sent them to, to protect them. And they knew that if they were ever caught, that it could mean Their lives. And so one day someone turned them in. And so the entire family was shipped to a concentration camp and they were put in a concentration camp. Corrie Ten Boom she was in that concentration camp for 11 months. She was put in solitary confinement for the first three months of her imprisonment there. And one of the things she said, she said the presence of God was so apparent. He was so resident with her in that. In that solitary confinement that she said in the respect of fellowship with God, she said it was a glorious three months, just in his fellowship. Of course, not the setting being glorious, but that he met her in that place. But after three months she was put in with the general population there in the concentration camp. Her and her sister were around the same age, they were in their 50s. And they had put them on certain work details. Well, because her sister was not as physically capable as Corrie 10 boom that when they would do work details and her sister could not produce the same amount of work that she could, or as other prisoners did, that they would often beat her sister. And many times she would find her sister was virtually beaten to the point of almost to her death. And so it would take her time to recover after she had been so mistreated. And while they were in that concentration camp, her sister would have visitations from God and God would show her the future. And she would say, corrie, when we get out of here, we're going to travel all over the world and we're going to preach to the. We're going to go to the darkest places in the world and we're going to teach them that no matter how great their darkness, God is deeper still. And so she was telling of the future that a ministry that would come out of this difficult season of their life. Well, Corrie 10 boom during that 11 months, she watched her sister mistreated and she watched her sister die there in that concentration camp. But through her sister, God had spoken to Corrie what her future would look like. That he would turn this into a place of ministry as she got out of that place. And it would just. It would. She'd carry. She'd carry the Word all over the world. Because she had seen God work for them in that dark place. At the 11 month point, she was called to the head office there in the concentration camp. And they gave her her release papers. And she was so surprised. And come to find out it turned out being a clerical error, they accidentally released her. They thought her to be a different prisoner and they dismissed her. Of course, there she was in a foreign Country. And they just opened the gates and said, get out. And she had no family. No. She's in a foreign nation, she's in a foreign city. And no money, no income, no any way to make a living. And for the first couple of days, she just walked the streets, and someone found her and took her in. And she was able to get her life back on course after this. Well, what her sister saw in that concentration camp of years of ministry, Corrie's life began to show that. And she began traveling all over the world and preaching. And God really became worldwide in renown. She became very well known. Well, in the course of conducting a church service one night, she had been preaching and she gave an altar call for those to receive Christ. At the end of the service, she went back to the door and was standing there with the pastor. And as the congregation members would leave the building, her and the pastor would greet the people on the way out, you know, and that. Have a little bit of interaction with them, and just spent some time with the congregation members. A man came up to Corrie that night and thanked her and said, because of the message that you preached, I received Christ tonight. I am now a member of the body of Christ, and you're my sister in Christ, and I'm your brother in Christ. And she rejoiced with him. But then she kept thinking. She said, he looks so familiar to me. How come he looks familiar to me? And she couldn't place him for a little bit. But as they continued to talk, it dawned on her that he was the prison guard in the concentration camp that had so severely beat her sister. Now, can you imagine that she again finds this man outside of these prison walls? But she remembers what he did to her in those prison walls, and the temptation would be to remind him of, I know you. Let me tell you how I know you. Because he would not have recognized her. No doubt her physical appearance would have changed much in that concentration camp. It was very difficult. They would have been starving to death. And he's seen her now, several years later, she would have looked completely different. But he didn't look different to her. And so she said when he was telling her how grateful he was for her ministry and how he was so glad to be washed in the blood of Jesus, forgiven and cleansed. She. It dawns on her where he's from. And she said, all of a sudden, such hate rose up on the inside of her. Well, where did that come from? It came from her flesh. It came from her soul. It came from her memory. It did not come out of in Christ. There is no hate in Christ. So she said, all of a sudden, such hate wound up on the inside of her because she remembered the abuse he had given out to her sister. In that moment, she had a decision to make. And she said under my breast, she said, oh, God. She said, I cannot love him because of what he did to my sister. I watched her suffer so much at his hands. And she said, I cannot love him, but I choose to yield to you loving him through me. Now see, that's what in Christ means. It doesn't mean you go to your flesh or you go to your own soul to find these flows. It means you go to him who is in you, and what's in him flows out of him through you. And you make that your flow. Now notice she had a choice to make. She had a decision to make. Can you imagine the hate that would well up out of your own soul that you would have toward that type of a situation? But she chose. In that moment of faith, feeling hate, she chose to draw on something else. So she said, jesus in myself, I cannot forgive this man. I cannot love this man, but I choose to let you forgive him through me and love through me. And she said, the moment I chose that, the moment I said that, what was she doing? She was swinging open wide the door for the divine love that was on the inside of her to flow out. See, divine love doesn't have to be felt first. It has to be chosen first. When you choose divine love, then you'll feel it. Can I tell you what human love, it wants to be the first thing felt. The emotions of man, it will draw on the wrong place just if it goes by feeling. But you have to go by decision, by choice. When she chose to yield to the love of God, then she felt it. She didn't wait to feel the love of God. She chose the love of God. And then she felt it. And she said, when I said, father, I can't forgive, but I allow you to forgive through me. And she said, there came such an overwhelming flow of love out of my spirit. And she said, it swallowed up all the hate that I felt in my own self. She said, so great was the love of God that I had for this man because I recognized that he did those things outside of Christ. And just like we've done things outside of Christ, but now we choose to do them in Christ or with Christ flowing through us. And she said, I genuinely looked at that man and I could love that man. Now, see, this is what the divine love of God will do. Divine love has to be chosen, not felt. If you'll choose it, you will feel it. But you have to choose it first. Forgiveness is not a feeling. It's a choice. So when you say, I can't forgive someone who did you wrong in the past, you need to state that right. Say it this way. I won't forgive. Because you can forgive. If you're born again, you can. So you need to say it rightly. I won't. I've chosen not to. But you can change that choice. I choose to forgive. So don't say you can't, because you can. Because the great forgiver is in you. The great lover is in you. And you can. What people are waiting on, they're waiting to feel love. They're waiting to feel forgiveness before they choose it. That's backwards. You have to choose it, and then you'll feel it. What is that? We don't walk by what we feel. We walk by what we believe. And we believe the love of God's on the inside of us. We believe forgiveness is on the inside of us, and it's God's own love, his own forgiveness. Corrie understood this. She did not have to conjure up the feeling of love within herself. She was drawing on the love of God that flowed from him through her. And that's why you can always forgive. And when you do that, what that does is that keeps you from being bound. Because when Jesus said these words in Matthew 5, verse 44, he said, I say unto you, love your enemies. Why? If you don't choose to love your enemies, you're going to hate your enemy. And then you're acting just like your enemy. So you have to choose to love your enemies. Why? Well, Pastor Nancy, I don't know why I have to do that. Because God is helping us to be saved. Skillful at drawing on in Him. God is helping us to live as one in Christ. When he gives this command, he's telling us how to leave the low flow of outside of Christ to live as one in Christ. And in Christ is the love of God. In Christ you can love, and in Christ you can forgive. So know this. It's all about choosing to let the greater one on the inside of you manifest through you. Now, Jesus, during his earthly ministry, he. He made this statement. He said, the Father in me, he does the works. So Jesus was saying this. I'm simply the vessel that God performs and manifests through. But can I say this? The love of God on the inside of you. You can also say this. The Father in me, he does the loving, he does the forgiving. And I allow him to love through me. I allow him to forgive through me. And what does that do? That releases you from any kind of bondage that would come from having ill feelings and unforgiveness toward other people. Because unforgiveness doesn't trouble them, it troubles you. And this is the antidote to unforgiveness and hate is to love your enemies. Amen. And you say, the love of God's on the inside of me, therefore I can forgive them and I choose to forgive them. And when you do, it's amazing how you will feel a love toward that person that had wronged you. And what happens? You begin to live as one in Christ as you love as one in Christ. Amen. Well, you don't want to miss next time because we're going to continue along this direction. And until next time, remember this Jesus is the Healer. God bless you.

Episode 834 | In Christ I Can, Part 74
Date: September 11, 2025
Host/Teacher: Nancy Dufresne
Theme: Living and Loving “In Christ”—Choosing Divine Love Over Human Love
In this episode, Nancy Dufresne continues her long-running series on what it means to live "In Christ." Focusing especially on Matthew 5:43–44, she unpacks the distinction between human love and divine love, urging listeners to choose the higher, spirit-based response provided by their union with Christ. Through biblical teaching, practical steps, and an extended illustration from Corrie ten Boom’s testimony, Nancy challenges believers to become skillful at drawing on God’s love, especially when facing enemies or those who have wronged them.
