There's enough power in every sick room and in every hospital room to raise up that sick one that may be describing you. You may be in a sick room, you may be in a hospital room. And I want to remind you, power is present. That power is there to do a work, believe in what's not. Try to get something, but notice that he's already made it yours. It's present right where you're at. Say I receive that power. I receive that power. I receive it right now.

From the top of my head. From the top of my head. The soles of my feet. The soles of my feet. Welcome. We're so glad you're joining us today for Jesus the Healer. We are in the middle of a series and we don't want you to miss any upcoming episodes, but. But go back and watch any previous episodes that you may have missed. We've been teaching on in Christ and we're almost at 70 episodes on this topic and it has got so much. My goodness. We just feel like we're scratching the surface because it's so rich and so deep and. But we're learning to become more skillful with who we are in Christ. We're teaching on in Christ who we are in him and who he is in us. And so we invite you. Get a notebook, take notes, get your Bible and follow along. We've been reading out of Matthew chapter 5 and verse 43. We're really comparing what it looks like to live outside of Christ or in Christ because life is so. We're cheated in life if we're going to turn to outside of Christ, but in Christ, when we turn toward who he is in us and who we are in him now, we're turning into the rich flow of heaven. All the goodness of God that belongs to us now in Christ brings so much into our life. There's total provision, there's peace, there's joy. There's wholeness for the physical body, healing and wholeness. There's peace and restoration for the mind. There's the restoring of all things that would have been lost in the past. They're restored back to us in multiplied form when we're in Him. But not only does living in Christ add something to us, but living as one in Christ also puts a demand on a different way that we're going to operate and we're going to flow. And we've been talking about this in the last few episodes. We've been taking as our text Matthew, chapter 5. Starting in verse 43, Jesus is speaking. And he said this. He says, you have heard that it has been said, thou shalt love thy neighbor and. And hate thine enemies. So notice this verse. That's the behavior and the response of someone who's living outside of Christ. Because outside of Christ, the only love you have to draw on is human love. And human love will falter. Human love will. The only way it responds is based on how it's treated. So if someone treats you good, you'll respond doing good to them. If they treat you bad, then you'll treat them bad. Because that's all human love can do. It can only equal someone else. It can only equal how someone has treated you. But divine love does not equal others. Divine love is based on God himself. And we, when we're operating in divine love, we're. We're acting independent of how someone's treated us. We are simply equaling God in this situation. Listen, God loved us when we were yet unlovely is what the Word says. When we were yet sinners, he loved us. Because divine love doesn't love someone based on how they act. Divine love is you're loving people based on who's in you. And that's what God has given us. His own love. He dwells in us. And God is love. And since he's the One that dwells within us, that means everything of him is in us. His love nature is in us. So we are responding to others, not based on how they treat us, but based on who's in us. Now. That's divine love. God no longer gives us permission to draw on human love. Now that we're born again, he will not bless us. Going to a lower flow of love, we're to stay in his divine love. And we've made this statement in previous episodes that the faith of God that's on the inside of you came from God Himself. Your faith that's in your spirit did not originate with you. It originated with God. He gave you a measure of his own faith. But for that faith to work, the Word tells us faith works by love. What kind of love? Not human love, but divine faith that came from God requires the fueling of divine love. And human love cannot fuel divine faith. That's why the Word tells us that faith works by love. Divine faith has to be fueled by divine love. And so if we're going to be faith people, we also have to be love people. Drawing on the love of God, yielding to the Love of God. And let me tell you this. In Christ, in him belongs to us. The love of God. It's on the inside of us. Divine love is in there. Now it's our responsibility, but also our privilege to draw on that divine love. In verse 43 of Matthew, chapter 5, Jesus said, you have heard that it's been said, thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy. That is the exact description of human love. That's the way human love operates. But in verse 44, Jesus tells us how divine love operates. He said, but I say unto you, love your enemies. My, my, my. That's divine love right there. Divine love can love its enemies. Why? Because God's been loving his enemies all along. Those who hated God, those who were against God. And I'm not talking about the devil, I'm talking about people. Those who were evil, those who were unjust. God loved them while they were, yet unlovely. That's what the divine love of God is capable of. And that same love is in you. So you are capable of loving your enemies. You say, I can't love my enemies. In human love you can't, but in divine love you can. Now, we're going to have to love as one in Christ, not love as one outside of Christ. We have to love as one in Christ. So when Jesus said this, love your enemies, he's letting you know you're equipped to do that. When the love of God is on the inside of you. It's God's love performing this. You're not having to perform it, working up some kind of human love to accomplish that, because human love won't ever arrive there. But divine love is on the inside of you, and you're equipped with it. The word of God tells us that the love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts. So you don't ever need to pray, oh, God, give me love for these people. He already did give you love for everybody you're going to encounter in this life. The divine love of God is entrusted to you. Now it's up to us to yield to it. It's up to us to draw on it. It's up to us to obey it. Now, verse 44, again, Jesus said, but I say unto you, love your enemies. And then the next three phrases tell us how that love is going to be played out in our life. Number one, we're going to bless them that curse us. What does that mean? Those. That's involving words when they say words to harm us. Or we're going to say Words to bless them. We're going to say something that is going to not equal them, but it's going to equal God. So with your mouth, you're to say something different than what they say against you. They say something bad, you say something good about them. The next phrase is this. Do good to them that hate you. So now you're going to move from just saying words of blessing. Now you're going to move to action. Actions of love. You're going to give them something. You're going to demonstrate something tangibly toward them that is going to be evidence that you're drawing on the love of God. Then the third thing he says, pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you. So now, number one, you've spoken something good. Number two, you've done something good. Number three, now you've done the highest action. You're bringing them in the presence of God with you so, so that the blessing of God can come upon them. My, my, my. The love of God will do those things through you. Now I want to camp on just for a moment. The second thing that love will do, it will do good to them that hate you. Notice this. Do good. You're going to have to take an action. Do you know that when somebody says something against you, does something against you, tries to harm you, that sometimes the Holy Ghost will give you something to do toward them? And it's not got like, go slash your tires. It's not like, you know, go, go, go, go destroy something at their house. No, that's not what he's going to give you to do. He will give you something to do that will offset something they've done. Why? Because when somebody does something against you or what they did will move against your life until you stop that movement. And you doing something to bless them is what stops that movement. Have you ever had a time when somebody said something against you and it seems like you're trying to forget that, but those words just keep circling your head? You say, I'm trying to forget that, but I can't forget what they said against me. Can I tell you how to stop those words? You say something good about them, and that is what interrupts and breaks the cycle of what has been said against you. It stops those evil words against you from cycling around your head and troubling your life and building a flow of hate against them in your own soul. You have to say something good because it stops their words against you from working against your life. So when you speak words of blessing, it Stops their words of cursing from working against you. So these actions we take with the love of God is to protect our life from people who try to harm it. Number two, this is what I want to spend a few moments on. Do good to them that hate you. That means that you can't just say, oh, I forgive them. Now you're going to have to take an action that shows that you love them. Well, I don't love them. If you'll take an action of love, you will begin to feel the love that God feels for them, and it will flow through you. It doesn't really affect you that people say or do something against you until it gets in you. That's the danger is when you start talking about it, you're letting it in. When you start telling others about it, you're letting what they said or did get in you. And now you've got a stumbling block in you. So Jesus is telling us how to keep what the enemies that come against us, people, what they do. He's telling us how to keep their actions and out of us. We don't respond like them. We respond based on love. We respond based on the God in us. We say something good, we do something good, and we pray something good. Now say, learn to say that with me. To love our enemies, we say something good. We do something good, and we pray something good. Let's say it again. To love our enemies, we say something good, we do something good, and we pray something good. So that's how we keep what they're trying to do, what the devil is trying to do through them against our life. That's how we keep the door closed to the devil because of what we say, what we do and what we pray. And so that's our safety. So the Holy Ghost will tell you, he'll even give you words to say about them or to them. He will give you an action to take toward them, and he will even give you words to pray for them. God would say, give them this or give them that. Give them this. What did it do? Well, it worked several things. Number one, it was an action of blessing. It was an act of the flow of the love of God. And I was glad to do it. Why? Because I would rather have love to dictate my actions than equaling the evil someone had done, dictating my actions. Not only did it help me to do something good, it kept the wrong thing out of me. It was a protection to my own spirit. And number three, it showed God that peace was more important to me. Than money. Now God can trust you with money when you'll use money to be a blessing. God no doubt has given me many, many, much abundance in my life because I showed him that money does not govern me, but what he tells me to do governs me. And when he told me, he's told me in years past, give this person that. Give that person this. I didn't owe it to them, but. But I was showing God what you say means more to me than any item I would possess, including money. If you won't give it, you're not safe with it. Now you have to learn that if you won't give it, you're not safe with it. And I showed God I will. When you tell me to sow money to someone, they don't have to be my friend before I sow it, all I have to do is hear what God says. If he says, give it, I don't care who it's for. What I care is that he finds me faithful to obey Him. And I will tell you this. There will be times that the Spirit of God will direct you to give money, give items, give something to somebody, because you're purchasing peace. And God desires you to have peace around you more than anything else, because there's nothing equal to peace. Amen. And so Jesus said that the love of God will accomplish this in us and through us. You don't have to feel love before you choose love, but if you'll choose to respond to someone based on the love of God that's in you, then I guarantee you you'll feel a deep affection, a deep love for them. Now I want to read again. Let's start again at verse 44. Jesus said, But I say unto you, love your enemies. Now there again, that's the flow of divine love. Divine love can accomplish that. Human love cannot accomplish that. But divine love can. Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven. One translation said, so that you can demonstrate the love of God. The same love God has. Now. See, you can say this. I walk in love. Well, that has to show up. That has to be demonstrated some way. Now that we want to demonstrate that God's love is in us, notice this. What does the love of God in us do? Look again. Verse 45. That you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven. Then it tells the way he operates. For he makes the sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and he sends rain on the just and on the unjust. What's this mean? He treats evil people just as good as he treats those he loves. What is that? He's not treating them based on how they treat him. He. He's treating them based on how good he is. That's what the love of God will do. You're not equaling others. You're equaling God, who's on the inside of you. So he's good to everyone. Now let's look at the next verse in 46. Jesus is saying this. For if you love them which love you, what reward have you? Do not even the publicans the same. So he's saying this. People who don't even know God, they're good to the people that are good to them. So just because you're good to someone does not mean anything different. You're not demonstrating anything of the divine love of God, just loving those who love you, because human love can do that. Then look at verse 47. And if you salute your brethren only, what do you more than others do? Not even the publicans do. So human love can only accomplish a certain thing, but divine love can accomplish far more than what human love can ever touch into. Verse 48 says, Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father, which is in heaven, is perfect. Now when he's talking about this word perfect, he's talking about spiritual maturity. He's talking about be developed in these things as your Father is so developed in the love of God. Now we can't say that we're progressing in him if our love walk isn't progressing. I love something that dad Hagin used to say to us. Kenneth E. Hagin was the spiritual father to my husband and I for decades, and brother Hagin said this. He said, if symptoms are attaching themselves to me, he says the first place I check is my love walk. What's he saying? I don't start throwing healing scriptures at a physical condition. He said, I first check to see am I. Am I operating in the love of God? Why? Because remember what I said earlier? The faith of God is in our spirit, but the faith of God has to be fueled by the love of God. The Word tells us faith works by love. He's not talking about human love. He's talking about divine love. The way our faith is going to move forward and advance and keep pace with God is we have to walk in love. When we're not walking in love, our faith quits operating our Faith quits functioning, you go, oh, no, no, no. I'm releasing. I'm confessing scriptures. It doesn't matter how much you're confessing. They're useless confessions if they're not being fueled by love. Because your faith cannot advance and move forward unless it's fueled by the love of God. And so here in verse 48, Jesus said, Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father, which is in heaven, is perfect. So he's saying, God expects you to equal his actions. Why? Because he's in us fulfilling those actions. But we have to yield to him. We have to obey what he's leading us into, because anytime we obey what he's leading us into, we'll look just like him. And God tricks us into being effective. If we'll follow him, he will help us to be effective. And it'll make us look like, oh, my goodness, that people want to be around us just like they want to be around the Father, because we demonstrate him when we're around them. Amen. To walk in love is to protect your life. And in Christ, you can walk in the love of God. And notice that in Christ doesn't just mean, what do you get? What do you benefit? But what can you bring? What can you give because you're in Christ? Well, number one, you want to give the love of God to people. Amen. That's what caused us to become recipients of salvation. God so loved the world. Look at this. He gave his only begotten Son. It was love that gave us Jesus. And it's. And it's Jesus that gave us salvation. Amen. So we are to bring to this world what God gave to this world. He gave this world love. And so because we're in his image, we can do the same thing. Amen. You're in Christ, and so the love of God's in you. Draw on that love. Don't go. Don't go to a lower flow of walking in human love that's off limits to us anymore because we have divine love to draw on. Amen. Episode 835 | In Christ I Can, Part 75
Date: September 12, 2025
Host: Nancy Dufresne (Dufresne Ministries)
This episode continues Nancy Dufresne’s long-running series on the theme of "In Christ I Can," focusing on what it truly means to live “in Christ” versus relying on human ability. With an emphasis on faith, healing, and walking in divine love, Nancy explores how believers can practically demonstrate the love of God—especially towards those who oppose or mistreat them. Matthew 5:43-48 serves as the core scripture, guiding listeners through the profound difference between human and divine love, and inviting them to a higher standard of maturity and obedience in Christ.
Nancy opens by emphasizing that God's power is present everywhere, even in places of sickness or difficulty:
"There's enough power in every sick room and in every hospital room to raise up that sick one... Power is present. That power is there to do a work."
— Nancy Dufresne [00:10]
She encourages listeners to actively receive this power by faith:
Nancy explains that true Christianity is not just about what we gain, but also about how we operate:
Quote:
“We’re cheated in life if we’re going to turn to outside of Christ, but in Christ... all the goodness of God that belongs to us now in Christ brings so much into our life.”
— Nancy Dufresne [01:13]
“Outside of Christ, the only love you have to draw on is human love. And human love will falter.”
— Nancy Dufresne [02:56]
Based on God’s nature, not others' actions.
“Divine love doesn’t love someone based on how they act. Divine love is... loving people based on who's in you.”
— Nancy Dufresne [03:41]
God expects believers to rely on His love, not revert to human love.
“For that faith to work, the Word tells us faith works by love. What kind of love? Not human love, but divine love.”
— Nancy Dufresne [05:08]
Matthew 5:44 – Jesus sets out three ways to express love to enemies:
“They say something bad, you say something good about them.”
— Nancy Dufresne [08:49]
“You’re going to move from just saying words of blessing... to action. Actions of love.”
— Nancy Dufresne [09:04]
Practical Application:
Memorable Instructional Moment:
“To love our enemies, we say something good, we do something good, and we pray something good.”
— Nancy Dufresne [13:03]
Mental Health Insight:
“It doesn’t really affect you that people say or do something against you until it gets in you. That’s the danger.”
— Nancy Dufresne [11:54]
Giving as Obedience: Nancy discusses the times the Holy Spirit asked her to give to people who hurt her.
“When he told me, he’s told me in years past, give this person that. Give that person this. I didn’t owe it to them... I was showing God what you say means more to me than any item I would possess.”
— Nancy Dufresne [18:04]
Principle: If you can’t give it, you’re not “safe” with it—obedience unlocks peace and blessing.
Continuing in Matthew 5:45-48: God treats the evil and the good with equal kindness. This is the standard for believers—a move to “perfect” (mature) love.
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father, which is in heaven, is perfect.”
— Nancy Dufresne [21:41]
Faith and Love Connection:
“The first place I check is my love walk. What’s he saying? I don’t start throwing healing scriptures at a physical condition… because... faith works by love.”
— Nancy Dufresne [22:01]
Living “in Christ” means not just receiving but giving—especially the love of God:
“In Christ doesn’t just mean, what do you get? What do you benefit? But what can you bring? What can you give because you’re in Christ? Well, number one, you want to give the love of God to people.”
— Nancy Dufresne [22:35]
Ultimate Example: God gave His Son—love gives sacrificially.
"Divine love is on the inside of you, and you’re equipped with it."
— Nancy Dufresne [04:24]
"You don’t have to feel love before you choose love. But if you’ll choose to respond to someone based on the love of God that’s in you... you’ll feel a deep affection, a deep love for them."
— Nancy Dufresne [19:23]
"If you won’t give it, you’re not safe with it."
— Nancy Dufresne [18:45]
"To walk in love is to protect your life. And in Christ, you can walk in the love of God."
— Nancy Dufresne [22:40]
